best course I ever had in learning about human sexuality

This guy is great! He gets so in to his subject that his energy is contagious. I enjoyed going to class and did not miss any of them.

It takes a lot to make an online class interesting, but he does a great job! If you are taking psych online, Lanning's class is a good one!

this guy is a nut. But his class is easy. All tests were openbook, and he grades on a generous curve.

Alan Lanning's online course is great. He obviously put a great deal of time and effort into lanning.org. He responds super quick to emails and grades assignments very fast. His online lectures are very helpful and he seems like a very nice guy. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed having Dr. Lanning as my professor. His syllabus is very clear and the unit assignments are easy to follow. He covers every base in teaching this online class from textbook, his own lectures, psych forum lectures, projects, videos, multiple choice questions as well as essays.

This was my first online course and Mr. Lanning class was very good. He responeded quickly to my emails and sent emails every week with updates. The class had a moderate amount of work and I learned a lot about the topic.

Online course. This course was easy to navigate, to understand and to excel in. He was extremely helpful and always fair. Gave the opportunity for extra credit points, lots of work, he has high expectations which is good for us students to learn. I highly recommend, best online course I have ever taken, I have taken 10 at 2 differenct schools.

I enjoyed taking this class on the internet, Professor Lanning was very helpful and extremely quick with responses to questions and concerns. Initially i was concerned with the amount of work required in the short period allowed but found it easily manageable.

Good class. Overwhelming at first when you realize you have to make it through the entire book, but the chapters were broken off into successful units that made it easier to complete. Very glad the hardest chapters, in my opinion, were done 1st!

This is a very well organized online class. The professor is very helpful and prompt in answering emails. Do not get overwhelmed by the amount of work, set goals and pace it out. I learned alot in this class.

There is a lot to do in this class so don't put it off until the end. It seems like it would be overwhelming but if you complete one thing a day you'll be done way before the course is over. Don't worry, none of it is impossible.

Dr. Lanning is exceptional. He has answered all of my questions in a quick manner. I find him to be very thorough. I would recommend this particular professor to anyone that appreciates an interested professor.

I am not sure why someone put the chili pepper on this for him--but in any case he is great. Very helpful and knowledgable. Be aware that his tests are worded to trip up the person that is trying to go too quick. (Read the question and possible answers in their entirety!!)As far as online courses go, he lets you set your own pace...so keep up!

i would recommend taking lanning for psych 1100. he gives in-class and take-home exams that are about 120 questions but he gives a week to do them, and sometimes he extends the deadline by a couple of days or a week. most of the people in my class were pretty bored during his lectures. it's easy to get an A in his class if you do the work.

Dr. Lanning has created a very organized online class which is easy to navigate through. His material is self explanatory, and his class is hard because it is self-paced. So, if you're not self-motivated and you are a procratinator this class may not be for you. Dr. Lanning is a good Professor and offers help when asked.

I thought this class was quite interesting. It was difficult at times, but worth it. The instructor is very organized and a true master in his field as well as in technology. I enjoyed the class and enjoyed the challenge!

Dr Lanning is extremely helpful and organized. Just remember to look at the statistics for online classes before signing up for one. Even though the course content was relatively straightforward, a lot of people didn't complete the class. It was surprised by the stats, but I suppose it can all be explained by psychology <grin> :)

I took it over the summer and I found it a good way to spend my time. He was very clear, responded quickly to e-mails, and was very helpful. Nice guy, willing to give lots of extra credit, plus unlike the University of Illinois, a 90% counts as an A (4.0). I'm so glad I took it at COD instead of UIUC. Plus, interesting material, cool videos.

He was very quick to respond to my emails and his class was easy to follow and I really liked that we could keep track of our grades after we turned in each assignment so we knew where we were at. Overall, as one of my first online classes, I thought it was a great experience.

I enjoyed the class, especially the readings from the book and the additional projects. The professor was quick to respond and helpful when I had questions. I recommend him to anyone looking to fufill online credit.

I can not tell you how much I appreciate how wonderfully Professor Lanning's course was presented and how well it was organized. In comparison to the online courses I am enrolled in now, this internet psychology class was a complete dream. Just fantastic!!!!!!!! A+ for this professor!!

Professor Lanning made all class requirements and assignment instructions clear. He used interesting but level appropriate unit projects which made the material seem more real and interesting. The computer program interface is slightly annoying, but much better than having to get to class in the snow.

I am verymuch impressed with this online course. It is very detailed and interesting course. I would recommend for anyone interested in online course.Many chances to improve grade like 25 points and 10% extra bonuses if work is done before dead line. Easy to achieve A.

Very clear instructions on all assignments. Not an easy class, however online. LOTS of assignments very very long tests. Would recommend him as a teacher only if you are ready to do all of the work!

A fairly difficult class for those not interested in the material. The lectures are a bit monotone and boring, consisting solely of a narrated PowerPoint presentation. His response time with grades and exam passwords is excellent, and he also responds quickly to feedback.

This was a great online course. Dr. Lanning has the course laid out so that what is expected is clearly presented. Those that got A's followed the course, those that didn't, know why.

Mr. Lanning is awesome,I took his Psychology class online and it was self paced,easy going,with no mandatory deadlines. I earned a B..the only deadlines were if you wanted extra credit.I finished pretty much a month early because I loved the fact that we did not have any deadlines..if you can't work without deadlines then pick another class!

The lectures were very esay to follow and the exams were fair. The text book was interesting and well written. The Professor was very good with grading things promply and answering emails. Overall, this class was a very good experience.

Great class. Online lectures and videos were better than Tivo - no commercials, just the facts without all the off topic mishmash you get in a classroom, and replay them as much as you needed. Mr. Lanning was also extremely helpful, but more importantly, he was prompt when you had to email him with a question. Key-read the book!

This class was easy! He gave us take home tests and the actual tests were open book. Just read the book, take notes and you will be sure to get an A!

Dr. Lanning provided a fair and honest challenge. I learned a lot and had to work hard for the "A". I am hoping he teaches Psych 2237.

Definitely a great professor, his online course is a lot of fun. You won't have any trouble in this class as long as you're willing to actually put the work in. As others have stated, his tests are open book, but you won't really need the book all that much, as the tests follow the material pretty much in chronological order. Overall, it's great.

Professor Lanning is clear, responsive, and runs a really well structured class. I took his online course, and although the grade isn't hard to achieve, the structure of the class/exams ensure that you understand the material. I'd recommend this class!

very clear directions and assignments. Interesting topics and extra lectures not included in the book make the class better than just regular read and test. The extra lectures gave more insight in selected topics and were helpful.

The intro to psychology was a GREAT and ENJOYABLE CLASS. Very well instructed by Dr. Lanning whom is very nice and helpfull. I was impressed by his responsiveness to emails when most professors never email me back. Also very impressed with the material selected and clarity of presentation.

It was a interesting class, he was very prepared and taught using all avenues of teaching. The videos and lectures were the greatest. I also enjoyed the way he done the extra credit program.

Pretty easy teacher, to get a good grade in the class, you must read the chapters he assigns and do the homework (which is a pre-exam with around 3 weeks of time to complete, plus 3 free answers every class period), and the tests are open book, so the reading really helps

He is an awesome person and helpful in so many ways! there are some deadlines, but for extra credit- alot is given over the course (online class) test with 2 essays, he's a fair grader not easy though. a lot of reading, but if i had to take any psych prof. it'd be him!

Great online class. There is a lot of work but completely self-paced. Extra-credit for meeting suggested deadlines. Audio lectures are available for all chapters. Assignments are well organized and expectations are clear. Dr. Lanning is very helpful and available. If you do the work, you'll do well in the class. Interesting and challenging.

Dr. Lanning was a great teacher! I took this clas online and never actually met him, but he was very nice and prompt on returning my emails. He offers tons of extra credit and keeps things very organized. He even gives reminders weekly, and tips. I highly recommended this class, and especially with Dr. Lanning.

Great teacher for online classes. dont take it in class. completely boring, he tended to talk to the wall and i slept alot. I still got an A though. its all about the book just read and read and you will get a good grade. really easy teacher. he's funny sometimes because he cant hear well. good luck!

Took him in class. There's 4 take home tests that are pretty easy, but long. There's 4 in class tests too. As long as you do the work on time & try, it'll be super easy. He curves all the tests & there's extra credit opportunities.

Easy class-took it online & finished by midterm. Class is self-paced, but he offers extra credit if you finish units by a specified date (about 1 unit per month). 4 untimed tests (you print out questions and answer as you read), 4 timed tests, 4 essays (3 questions each), and 4 assignments (not very time-consuming or difficult). Recommend :)

Great course! Would recommend this teacher to anyone! Even if you aren't completely interested in the course, you'll enjoy the course. The course can be finished in a few weeks with discipline. The online course has two exams, (one open book), essay questions, video questions and a project for each unit (4 total). It sounds worse than it is,

I took this class in an online format. This professor uses a wide variety of teaching methods from online videos, reading, and varied projects. It is self paced with 4 units comprised of an untimed exam, a timed exam, 3 essay questions, project and video questions. Definitely self paced.

Professor Lanning was extremely helpful by attending to my questions and concerns immediately. I took this course on line and was a bit overwhlemed. There's a total of 4 Units, where each unit has 2 exams, projects, video questions, lectures, and essay questions. Just be sure to READ your material and you'll get an A!

Take his Class at COD. there is 4 tests in this class all open note open book, each is accompanied with a "take Home" test that has nearly identical questions on it which are layed out easily in chronological order in the book, you have about a month to do each take home exam. This was an online course which was challenging. The tests are open book, make sure you buy the book and don't use the downloaded book. Took class online, 100% self-paced. Most evaluations self-paced as well. Extra credit available. You have to do the reading, but class was easy. Online lectures were a little boring, with too many spelling, grammar, and pronunciation errors. Too-expensive textbook had errors, too. I would take another course from this professor.

PROFESSOR LANNING WAS SUPER EASY, BUT AT TIMES BORING BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT HE READ OFF POWERPOINTS. ATTENDANCE IS A BIG THING AND REFLECTS ON YOUR GRADE. Dr. Lanning is the easiest teacher I've ever had. He tends to read off of the PowerPoint slides for the lectures, so it can get very old. He is not afraid to speak his mind pertaining to the subject matter! Show up to class, actively participate, study a little bit, and you'll receive an A in his class.

Easiest A I have ever received in my life. 4 take home exams, 4 in class open book exams. A few online projects in between. He reads off of powerpoints, we watch some videos, wish there was group discussion because it got a bit dry after the first week. But I'd recommend him.

This Professor is considered "easy" when it comes to college courses, but in my opinion, he give you a good bang for your buck. He does do take-home exams, and open-book exams, but he expects you to know your stuff. He tends to follow the powerpoint verbatim, so if you miss a class, check online, and you will be fine. I highly recommend him!

Very nice professor, and his class is not very hard, but needs a lot of reading.
