One of the most unorganized and poorly explained classes I have ever taken at UH. This guy says one thing and then does something completely different and the students' grades suffer for it. I don't know how many announcements were made to correct mistakes that he made and often too late for students to do anything about it. Do not take!

Overall, the class was a great experience. No where else in the univeristy where you can have a hands on experience on what the real world is like. If you put the effort into simulations and quiz then your grade wont dissapoint you. Good Luck!!

It is a nice professor. I like the way he teach. Although the "A" standard is little be higher (94 %), it is not hard at all to got a "A". On his class, the simulation is very useful and interesting. It can help me to understand the real world business that I cannot learn from any other class.
I took his class online, Prof Lish made sure it was 100% online too. Tests were word for word in book (so yes, you NEED a book). His game simulation was fun, useful, but very time consuming. Study questions were the easiest questions ever. His points for A+ were kinda high, I got an A- in the class. Highly recommend Prof Lish!
Well Here I am and I Will say nothing but the real honest thing about Prof. Lish. (He was the best online Prof. that I've ever taken at UofH at the Bauer Campus) Everything he posts on the blackboard you better take it seriously. There is only three Quizzes, and they are take home Quizzes, One project Simulation which is very easy and fun to play,
and the peer evaluation which your group will grade you 10% of your final grade and 10% of your final grade as well on participation and online assignments. (NO MIDTERM OR FINAL, THAT IS RIGHT)got an A+ in this class. Thank you so much Prof. Lish, and may God continue to bless you cause you are very good on what you do. ;)

Professor Lish was a great teacher! This was the 1st time Entr 3310 was offered online and it was very interesting. Furthermore, there was 3 quizzes spanned out through the summer semester and a market simulation for your final grade. I assimilated many different operations to use in my small business. Highly recommend his course! Very Informative!
He was an effective teacher. The simulation was very helpful and a different teaching technique. The discussion posts every week make you read the book and get familiar with the information before the test.
good class, good prof. I personally found the simulation a little confusing. Discussions and tests are helpful to ensure you are learning the material, no tricky questions they are pretty straightforward. Read the book and participate.
Lish is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He's very passionate about entrepreneurship which I loved. I took this class online but he had it so organized, which made it easy. The simulation game was very realistic and so educational. I got an A- but had I focused more on the game, an A would have been easily attainable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Highly recommend! Easy class, easy assignments. If you are a full time student (and worker), this is the class to take to help you out with your GPA! He is so helpful and clear with what he wants, easy A. It's a definite C if you don't even try.
took him online for summer and for most part it was easy.BUT..there is a simulation you have to work in with a group.Simulation was confusing,very time consuming and frustrating.I made A's in all 3 tests,did all the participation points,but ended up with a B cuz of the sim.I feel ripped of cuz i worked so hard n spent lot of time and ended with a B
I felt like I was alone on a raft in the ocean. Two members on my team of 4 did zero. I spent tons of hours on the simulation game. Everyone got a good grade on that part b/c of me. They got 0 on peer eval but still, I spent/wasted a lot of time. No guidance from instructor or PA.
I agree the Simulation does not even represent real life situations. I did most if not all of the work and the simulations will only hurt your grade. The classes are super boring so I prefer you take Ortega as he is night and day with Lish, very mono-tone and dull. I got all A's on the tests but ended up with a B. Good Luck if you take him.
3 exams, the 2nd one is the toughest cus it has way too much info, i think he should have had 4/5 exams. The simulation was easy and hard at times cus he puts you in groups and some people are lazy and dont do any work. The extra credit from doing assignments you get 12/18, the other 6 points you earn from propitiation in class
Prof Lish's class is an easy A if you put in the word required for the simulations. Its not hard at all. The "quizzes" are really the exams and are all open notes and online.
Great teacher. Loves his job, keeps everything connected with current news. Very helpful, learned a lot in his class. He's a great guy. You can tell he knows what he's talking about. It comes second nature to him.
This class was was easy, but Lish is SUPER BORING! I find it weird that such a mono tone guy is teaching entrepreneurship! The simulation was a pain in the butt because I had to rely on others, the only thing I liked about this class was his relevance to present day entrepreneurs, like the videos we watched. Seemed obsessed with Google and Apple!
Easy tests if you prepare adequately. You can easily google the rest of the questions and make A's. Simulation is difficult because it requires group, but you can pick your own. Simulation is better than a paper, even with lowest points possible + max participation pts from group you can still make an A. So long as you make A's or 1 B on tests.
Alright class, he makes it interesting by relating things to current companies. Sometimes he rushes through lectures. Group project is easy, figure out who will do what early on. Felt like the grading scale was thrown out at the end and the curve only helped people who didn't even try while people who did good in the class got what they earned.

Excellent professor who care about the success of the students. He has a strong entrepreneurship background and encourages students to succeed in class and beyond. Sim was fun, team work is essential. Prof. encourages questions and discussion board participation.

Simulation did not feel representative of real life and did not help very much. Quizzes are easy and the discussion questions were straightforward. I did not appreciate the condescending emails and my integrity being questioned as well.

Professor Lish is awesome! He is not boring at all, he makes his lectures pretty interesting, different and relevant. There are 3 (easy)quizzes and 1 simulation group project. The project is time consuming but u can learn a lot. Just FYI, since people don't participate in class, clickers will be required next semester so attend to class! =)
Extremely easy class. His lectures are entertaining so its not like your bored out of your mind. The quizzes are easy if you go to the review & read most of what you need to. 3 quizzes, a simulation, and class participation is all he grades you on.
I didn't show up to class over half the time, got points docked on my BOS for not getting it done on time, but aced all my quizzes with nothing lower than a 90. I don't suggest you do that, but I got an A- in the class as a result.
The class is not that hard but the teacher is. He has some very strict rules and especially his email rules. I don't know why he is so strict about his rules. Even though I mistakenly made a mistake, he still docked my points which caused me get a c. Nice guy but very strict.

Easy class, just follow his rules..you'll make an A. 3 quizzes, team simulation, participation (clickers) are all he grades you on. The chapters assigned for reading are short.
Prof Lish is straight to the point. This class is not hard. Follow what he says, pay attention in lectures and anyone should be able to pass. I got a C because of my group in the blue ocean. Make sure you pick a good responsible group for the blue ocean simulation project to get better then a C.
Dr.Lish is very knowledgeable and believes in every student. If you put forth the little effort he asks he will bend over backwards in helping U seek your success.The class is very interesting including up to date articles regarding innovation. I highly recommend him as your professor as he taught me the true meaning of Corporate Entrepreneurship
Professor Lish it not horrible but he is not great either. His way of teaching is: you are required to read the chapter prior to class, then he will read over the powerpoint during class. Pretty boring. He also likes to point out how lazy he is and does not care much about the class. If you can take someone else, I would recommend.
This is an easy class. 3 online exams which are open-book & you can take it anywhere. Attendance is not mandatory but 25% of your grade is on the clicker points in almost every class, so make sure to read the chapters prior class to survive the clicker questions; otherwise they will bring your grade down (trust me!). Besides, it's a boring class.

Professor Lish is a boring professor, honestly I didn't learn too much from his class. Grades depends on 3 tests (You can take them online) , stimulation and clickers. Just read the chapters before class so you can get the clickers right and make sure to do good on the exams and you will get an easy A.
I love this professor! He was very entertaining, yet he taught the material very well. Clickers were used. Exams are all online. Many people did terrible on the second exam, but he allowed for an extra exam to average out, very understanding. I would suggest getting an e-book, it makes the exams a lot easier.
Dr. Lish is highly intelligent inspirational and enlightening. He makes Marketing seem like fun. His knowledge is both from the world of business and academics, so he has a lot to offer. He has three online exams. No cumulative exams, or final exam. Reading comprehension mandatory. For a good grade read chapters before clicker questions.

Alan Lish is one best professors at Bauer. This guy practically tailors his course where it's impossible to fail. His tests are OPEN NOTES! You gotta show up for his clickers and you have your laptop with google search at your disposal! The project was a wiki page, which really didn't require much effort definitely class A+++
Enjoyed class immensely, real world information, teacher is naturally charismatic and encouraged discussion. Definitely a contrast from most of my current professors.
I'm so glad I took this professor. He makes everything fun and would let us out early some days because of traffic. I would take him for any class he had.
Make sure to take pictures of clicker questions. They are tricky, and nobody knows how he grades them, but they will be on the tests. An online simulation with group pre-selected for you, and lets cross ur fingers ur group isn't too dumb and lose all your points. Mandatory participation and it's difficult to earn all the possible points.
Funny and super random guy. His lecture could be better if he jumps around or fast forward less. As long as you read and can answer his questions, you'll be fine.
He should stick to teaching his marketing classes because he doesn't know how to teach entrepreneurship.
This marketing strategy graduate course was exactly what it should be, in class discussion focused, critical thinking essays and a marketing strategy simulation. I have found that courses like this where you talk among your peers more than taking quizzes and test have benefited me in the real world more than test focused courses.
3 online exams, clicker questions, 1 sitimlation (super hard video game), learnsmarts (online hw). Pretty easy class overall.
Have to go to class for clickers which are a big chunk of your grade. Other than it is a very boring and easy class. Hard simulation video game which is super annoying.
His grading is ridiculous. I had a 98 average on exams and did all the homework and still got an A- because I missed four classes due to being ill. He changed his grading criteria mid semester & tells you things are extra credit and then puts them toward your participation grade so if you didn't do them, you LOSE POINTS. also very unprofessional
He's not a bad professor but he is a little odd. A lot of the grades come from the clickers so you have to go to class but you don't necessarily have to listen. The marketing simulation is super difficult for no reason and the grading on it doesn't make sense. Tests aren't too bad (all on chegg) and learnsmarts are pretty easy.
Barely made an A because I missed one day of "double clicker day" due to being sick. Had a high average on exams, 100 average on learnsmarts and connect assignments, but that one day of clickers really brought me down. There was also the marketing simulation that was so hard.
3 online quizzes thru the semester. Clickers every class. One "game" that counts as a quiz. Learnsmarts/Hw once a week.
3 quizzes 1 project this will basically make or break you. read the books, watch the power points, show up to class. The class is so easy that you'll likely forget about it after the first month.
If you miss class from being sick you are screwed he does clicker questions every class. The simulation is basically impossible to get perfect so be ready for that. Two books you have to read and you are tested over little details which is annoying. Quizzes have so much material and no study guide or outline. I got an A+ but with lots of work
I would say this class is a hard A but easy B, mainly because of the simulation. Clickers every day, show up. Tests are online, a little annoying with minor things in the book, but everything is in the book. The simulation is impossible to get right but if you do it on time and participate (peer reviews), it's a guaranteed B.

He is super sarcastic and not helpful at all. Overall just the worst. Exams are now in CASA not online and he made the questions extremely hard.
Because most of the students from previous semesters received easy A's, he has now switched testing to CASA. READ THE BOOK! He no longer allows students to use electronic devices. He's a pretty chill professor, but don't ask him the same questions. Listen to everything he states in class. Show up to class for clicker points. Take Koch instead.

His exams and marketing simulation will mess up your grade. He says some assignments are not graded but changes it to "graded" once the assignment is due. He is very rude and sarcastic. If you think of taking this class after looking at old reviews, DON'T. He changed the class so much. Exams in casa, and no electronic devices.

The Exams are difficult ( I am a straight a student) and there is definitely no introduction to marketing. He seems to not care about life or his students. It's really sad.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR!! He doesn't curve so what you get is what you get. The class averages on the first exams went from high 90's (in previous semesters) to the low 60's. There is no review to help you study and he says the exams are like the practice quizzes which is not the case, at all!! BEWARE AND TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!!!!
Treats students condescendingly and is a creep. I emailed him once asking if my grade was because of this mistake I did and his response was pretty mean. Lectures are useless but you can do clickers for attendance anywhere as long as you have the access code. Tries to be funny in class but isn't. I switched my major because of his class.
On the very first day of class he told all of us how we should study to get a good grade in this class, but a very few people took him seriously, so no doubt people who are leaving a bad review here did not pay attention. Instead of criticizing Dr. Lish they should put in some work and treat this class as a junior level class.
STAY AWAY! 4.0 student here, going to make a C in this class. Grading is not clear at all. Professor is political and sarcastic. I wish I could have sat through one class before I chose him. Worse professor out of all 20 Instructors I've had at UofH. Do yourself a favor and pick anyone but this guy. Even if another professor has a 1, pick them.
You actually have to read the textbook to pass the exams. There are weekly homework and he relies on clickers for attendance. Dr Lish is a solid professor, his discussions are powerpoint based and from his own experiences. He is straight forward and can be sarcastic. Game stimulation seemed to be the hardest thing in the class, 15% of your grade!!
Extremely sarcastic and rude to students. I didn't find his powerpoints to be very helpful to the tests and his in class reviews were trash. I emailed him about my grade once and his response was short and mean. I wouldn't take him again unless I absolutely had to.
Honestly, his class isnt all that bad. He provides you with a huge amount of fluffer grades on McGraw-Hill and provides clicker scores for participation. The exams are tricky but mostly concepts and definitions, if you read only the italicized portions of the text you should do fine. That being said I would still recommend Koch's class.
All you have to do is read the assigned chapters before the exams, do your HW on connect, actually TRY and do good on the simulation, attend class for clickers, PARTICIPATE, and that's it! Not hard people! if you don't like his attitude, oh well. Y'all are just mad because you failed on all assignments and then want to complain like it's his fault!
Well. Very inconsistent grading. He would give you a homework assignment and when you turn it in, would give major points off for not doing something that wasn't on the homework at all. Promises Extra Credit but turns those into mandatory points so if you didn't do it, well you got a Zero. Class Test Average was 50 and didn't want to give curve.
Professor didn't care about anything since he knew he was working there his last semester. Extra credit? turns out its mandatory so if you didn't do it, you got a 0. Tests? no review, a lot of people failed. HW? well if he assigned a hw, the instructions online don't help because everybody got bad grades for following the online instructions.

Class is very boring. and clicker points at the beginning and end prevent skipping. tests are difficult. there is no curve and barely any extra credit. group project relies on your teammates to grade you on your performance. which can be good, but can also lead to problems.
Dr. Lish provides a "judgment free" classroom. It's almost pointless to go to class, except he does clickers worth a ton of your grade every day. There is a group simulation that everyone hates, but isn't necessarily the worst. Tests are open book, and even though you hate going to class, the easy A is worth it.
This class isn't too bad. There are clickers everyday, you may do like 200 points worth of them over the course of the semester but he only counts 90 points. 3 test, open note & not the easiest. but if you do everything else then you can at least get a B. Group Simulation also not the easiest but the lowest grade he will give is a 75. It's doable.
Probably the worst teacher I have had in UH so far. He always rushed the lectures to finish the class so he could leave early, so the instructions for the simulations were very unclear and called out the students for it. It looked like he was forced to be there. Very sarcastic and acted like you should already know everything taught in class.
I don't appreciate paying thousands of dollars in tuition and being told to "Google it" when I ask a question. I'm paying for a formal education, am I not? I can Google anything for free....
He is the WORST professor I have ever had. His directions are very unclear, and he assigns extra credit he then turns into actual assignments so if you didnt do the extra credit then you get a zero. The simulation will drive you crazy trying to figure it out. TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
This class is an easy A show up and do all of the clickers, do your work and you'll get an A. There is no textbooks but he does make you buy 2 books. Test are online and easy. Make sure you type out his clicker questions as some of them are on the test. Online simulation is easy if you pay attention to his tips during class. Boring lectures.
Really easy class to me. Has weekly assignments due on Sunday. My group for the project were cooperative so it was easy. Just read the simulation and it will be decent. Save the questions from the weekly review quizzes on a word document because some will show up on the tests. You can find the texts online if you try. I liked the class and learned.
Took online and this class works great online! He's good at sending reminders, conveying what's due, and what is expected to be completed from the weekly activities. Exams are on blackboard, clear questions from provided lecture videos, and powerpoints. Simulation tip: don't rely on your team when communication is insufficient, just get it done.
Clear syllabus and guidelines. Very responsive. Love his face to face lectures. Theres clickers and group simulation project. Theres also 3 tests which are easy. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going because he explains really well.

Very clear grading criteria, easy to follow syllabus. Does require research work to complete assignments, weekly quizzes but not difficult. Do need to watch all videos and work every week so if you don't stay on top, you'll miss a week real easily.

Dr. Lish is an amazing professor. His video lectures are super helpful. His class consists of weekly quizzes and a few participation assignments. In addition to that, there's 3 exams & a few rounds of a group simulation project. Overall, this class is very easy. I learned a lot too.
Dr. Lish is very direct with his feedback, but is honestly a great professor. This isn't a class to "blow off" because there is a lot of work. It's not necessarily difficult, but there are certain criteria & guidelines you have to follow. Sometimes the feedback you receive may be harsh, but it's only to improve for the future. I'd take again.

Free A for those looking for an elective credit. Everything is open notes/book and most of the grades come from participation in weekly activities that typically involve writing a small paragraph about his lecture or other topics he talked about that week. Class was genuinely entertaining and he seems to have a real passion for the business world.

Quite a bit of weekly assigment due. Group project simulation that takes up lots of coordination. Feedback from group project is not given back until after the end of the class semester so that there is no "complaining" on grades.
he made a really simple class so difficult. The most difficult group project doesn't give grades or feedback till after the project is over. The group project is a competition and your grade is based on how well you do in the completion (if you get 1st you get a 100, 3rd place got an 80, etc.) Weekly quizzes that are difficult.
This class was way harder than it needs to be. Group project is ridiculously time consuming not clear with grading. Weekly quizzes can be hard not always. Exams are really tough even with open note. I have gotten questions wrong that I pulled right from the ppt. You also cannot see what questions are correct after taking quiz to help study. AVOID.

Your grade is dependent on a simulation video game, tests that are challenging even with open notes, and tons of random assignments. The professor isn't willing to work with you when reaching out, and thus comes across as if he doesn't care for his students success. I can't recommend Dr. Lish because of the randomness involved in the course.
This guy is unnecessarily rude when asking a normal question. If you are confused or have a question about anything he responds so aggressively. Class is easy but because of his unwillingness to be helpful and explain my grade took a toll at the beginning but should still finish with an A. Take this class with him don't expect much from him.
Okay prof, pretty easy class. Lots of weekly assignments but you can blow through it all in a couple of hours. Not the nicest guy but really if you do everything you should get an easy B or A. Professor Lish takes what should be a simple class and turns it into a busy-work mess. His course has no reason to be as time consuming as it is, with each week containing a barrage of menial assignments. The worst part of the course is that even if working hard, the weird guidelines of the final project make securing an A difficult. Avoid.

The worst professor I have taken at the University of Houston. He acts like his class is the only one that you are taking. The way he grades is unrealistic and he does not give constructive criticism, but rather harsh remarks. The material is heavily based on group assignments. I will not be taking a class by him because I did not learn anything.
Avoid this class! The professor is the worst I've had. The workload is EXTENSIVE for a 1.5hr class, surpassing the combined load of my 2 3.0-credit classes. You'll face numerous assignments and a tough weekly quiz. The grading is harsh. Enrolling in this class hurt my 4.0 GPA, and I learned little. If you ignore this warning and enroll it's on you.

This class COULD be better, it's disappointing right now. The subject is interesting but this is just busy work not learning. I hope they reformat this class in the future. Till then AVOID!
This professor will tank your grade for not watching lectures in an asynchronous class. Confusing group projects which deny you access to make changes after your teammates submit decisions leaving you essentially uninvolved in the group decisions. Rude professor.

Professor Lish's course was challenging; exams on lockdown browser, no webcam, yet highly concentrated material with confusing questions. Despite my efforts, I earned a B+. Unexpectedly, he added participation grades last minute, dropping me to a C. Beware of such grading changes before taking his class.
Dr Lish is very strict on what he wants and will not really bend to things that happen. He will give little to no information in the lectures, but will expect you to know everything. He is a very tough grader.
Directions are never clear, concise, or consistent. A ton of reading and graded material doesn't always match the reading. Also, the articles are poorly written with fluff and hard to follow sometimes. Can be pretty condescending in feedback. If multiple people in the class struggle with the same thing it's probably a teaching issue.
I was scared to take this class due to reviews but it was worth it. The class is very straight forward and organized. Mr. Lish sends reminders of what is due at the begging of each week and midway. The project is not too bad plus he has videos explaining it all step by step. Do the minimum and you can get an A.
I only took this class because it was required. I would not recommend this professor as the grading criteria is unclear. The lectures did not feel helpful when it came to the quizzes. Lastly, the final exam does not come with a review and your only advice is to go over the previous, extensive readings.
The professor is capable and knowledgeable of the material. He is very unfair in grading and not understanding of the nature of his students. We are not children, we are in school to learn and apply it to our work. He has a paranoia of fraud and cheating, which is very disappointing because his goal is for the students to MEMORIZE not learn
This professor may know the material well, but is very prideful and assumes students don't know anything. His grading is very strict. Quizzes were simple, no lockdown. Exam had lockdown w camera. Cases were long but can be done. Make sure you watch the lectures because it counts as participation. Had to take this class because it was mandatory.
This dude has the craziest attitude and arrogance, buddy teaches a entr class trynna make it a stats class. Im not sure if hes having fomo or something and wants his class to be harder than it is. Nonthaless, i cant say too much because ill get flagged. Woudlnt take this class with this mf professor again and only did it bc i had to.
Class was organized well. He sent out reminders 2x a week about what was due. There were weekly quizzes, simple written assignments, 3 tests, and a simulation group project. The project wasn't too bad. Even if your team doesn't do as well as others, it's not graded that harshly as long as you try your best. Good class, I don't get the bad ratings.
