Easy class, he's funny. All you need is to take notes.
He is one of my best professors. Funny, thorough, helpful, & entertaining!
Boring class, everyone falls asleep, must take lots of notes, don't miss class

Nice guy, gives huge study for tests.

he is funny and nice, gives a huge study gide, lots of notes, easy class
he made me laugh every class! Funny guy, easy exams
make a friend and have them sign you in--cuz u dont have to go to class to get A
He IS the nutty professor! Read&go to class for an EZ-A!
Easy class but he has a bad attitude
Great Prof. Geog is boring, but he makes it worth it. Awesome study guide. EZ A+
funny pretty easy take notes look at study guide
Easy class, boring, Not a very nice guy
Go to class and you will be fine. All lectured written out on power point. EASY!
very funny guy, easy study guide, just show up, dont even buy the book...hes sarcastic (actually sardonic!!) and makes this class fun.
make a friend and have them sign in for you...u can just leave cuz he posts all of his important test notes on the net...dont waste valuable brain space...just noe the stuff on the test study guide and you'll get an easy A
Excellent teacher.. Tests are not hard. Fallow study guide and notes. The final exam is cumlative, but half of the questions are from previous exams which he hands back.. which makes the final very easy.. go to class and you will at least get a B
Make sure to go to class! He is very interesting. Well worth my time.
he is very sarcastic, but knows his stuff. Tests are fine if you study, he posts all notes and study guides online!! but you get extra points if you sign in all the time. he is pretty interesting to!
Easy basically gives you all the notes in a study guide get points for going to class study for tesys and get a good grade
Easy class to fulfill GE req. If you go to the lectures and take notes (his PP presentations are available on his website), you will do fine. Rarely had to reference the book. Tests are mainly objective, with an easy essay question at the end.
easy, funny guy, notes online, easy A
I honestly slept in class everyday and got a B
He trys desperately to be funny and fails miserably. Class is boring as hell, but it'd be very hard not to pass. Takes attendence. Don't buy book, it's expensive and i never opened it.
he is very nice and very easy!!!!! if you put 2 seconds of effort, you should get an A! gives you the exact test info to study which is great!!
take him, notes online, nice guy, good sense of humor, if you put in even a little effort you can pull off a good grade
Awesome class with all powerpoints online. Go to class, study a tad and you'll do fine. He's very easy going and humorous!
very nice, pretty easy, 3 exams + cumulative final, map exercises help out your grade a lot, gives study guide for each test, extra credit for going to class, overall i recommend! i wouldn't recommend buying the book though.
Definitely going to boost the GPA taking this class. Sets you up for exams by providing study guide. Notes are online. Trys to have a since of humor, put lacks at it. Good Chap overall. Keep on top of your stuff. Requires 5 page term paper.
He is boring, but definitely will get you an ok grade if you are not willing to try. His tests aren't hard, but the class average can be high and affect you if you don't get good scores on tests.
Easy class, funniest professor on campus.
very nice man who is pretty funny. Class can be very dull but looking at the website makes test easier to understand. Getting on his good side definetly pays off.
Tries to be funny, sorry he is NOT. Very easy class. You will think your are back in high school.
The final's cumulative but the half the test is made up of old test Q's which you can keep. Map excersizes are easy and help your grade. Extra credit for attending class. I didn't use the book and got an A. Extra credit for attendance.
I took him for 101 and 102...he's the best. My advice, at least look over the study guide. You don't need the book don't waste your money. Attend class or at least get a friend to sign you in. If somehow you are struggling, talk to him, he's nice.
Take this class, its very easy, you never have to go to class, If you just study the study guide the night before, you'll get an A. Don't buy the book
Funny. Class is very easy, great guy with a lot of information that is useful and sometimes humorous.
Sarcastic as all hell! He is a cool and funny dude, because he can take probably one of the most boring subjects and make it somewhat interesting by the way he teaches. You don't need the book.
Easy class. Did not show up half the time and left early the classes I did show up for. Still got a B.
Easy class because he gives you study guides w/ everything on the test. very nice guy, hes a dork, but is funny to watch him think he is witty and cool.
Is very energetic, and excited about teaching a pretty borig subject. He keeps people interested.
Easy class. DO NOT buy book. Went to half the classes still got a B+.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Best teacher you can take. Hes funny and expects almost nothing out of his students. Easy A or B as long as you show up. He is a very nice man who wants you to do well.
this is a great class. you don't have to attend the lectures or read the book, just study the study guide. he is very knowledgable and makes the subject interesting. i would definately take another class with him, he is such a nice guy. 3 tests, 3-4 map exercises, and a final.
easy class. real fun teacher. makes the subject really intiresting. funny as heck. take the class. he provides notes for ALL his tests. study the notes and you get an A. map excercises take five minutes to complete. he only gave four!
funny guy, is very sarcastic and fun to listen to. don't need to attend class because the notes are all online...tests are a breeze
the notes for the class are online, so there's no point 2go2 class. but sometimes in lecture he'll give you hints about wat to study for. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!!! tests are based off of lectures... so save urself from spend $ n time trying to read the book.
I love Prof. Osborn! he is the best Geography teacher ever! he is a definite must take. Don't need the book, go to class, lectures are interesting, I learned alot.
Good Class & Easy A. He is entertaining and gives good lectures, but you don't even need to go. I skipped at least a third of the classes and still got an A. Notes are online, tests are easy. :) Take him if you don't want to stress about a GE science course.
Easy A dont go to class or buy the book. notes online but gives study guide with almost everything on it. He is really sarcastic but a very nice guy
Awesome teacher. Easy A. Never went to class. Just read the study guide a couple times and you'll do fine. Interesting and funny guy. 3 maps and a term paper. Term paper extremely easy. Took me an hour and got an A.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK - he posts all lectures online and tests are straight from there. Nicest teacher, he really is interested in the subject and is very understanding. A true gentlemen and an excellent teacher. My favorite so far.
DON'T BUY THE BOOK! The professor posts lectures online (even though you don't need them because he gives VERY thorough study guides). Just know the study guide well and do well on take home map exercise's and you are golden VERY EASY A
Great Teacher, Sraightforward Tests, Puts all lecture notes online. I highly reccomend taking his class.
Very laid back easy teacher. Don't go to class, don't read the book he posts everything online! All the slides are on the internet and thae study guides follow it. Study the study guide and remember to check online for map quizzes which are easy.
Nice guy but I DO NOT think he is that funny as everyone else thinks. Maybe its because most of the students are freshmen, who knows? Just study the study guides and go to class because its extra credit and you should get an easy A. Dont buy book or take notes, its pointless.
Easy class. I skipped all the time and still got an A. All the notes are online. Three map excerises, a few tests, and that's all. He's funny and his lectures are interesting, but not necessary. Take for an easy GPA boost.
Prof. Osborn is kinda goofy and most of his jokes fail miserably, but he's a nice guy and a good teacher. The class is pretty straight forward, and the lectures are interesting. The book isn't needed, just do the map exercises, memorize the study guide and look over online lecture notes.
He laughs at his own jokes. Spoons feeds you the answers on his tests with his study guides. DONT BUY THE BOOK! Lectures are not THAT boring. 3 map exercises (piece of cake). EASY CLASS take it for the GPA boost
no book. no class. study guide...tests, map excercises. just plain easy.
PRETTY CHILL CLASS, HE DOESN'T CALL ON YOU. TRIES TO MAKE HIS LECTURES INTERESTING AND FUNNY, LAUGHS AT HIS OWN JOKES. EASY, STRAIGHTFORWARD CLASS. DO ALL YOUR MAP EXCERCISES AND STUDY FOR THE TESTS. YOU'LL SEE HE IS AN INTERESTING PROFESSOR. TAKE HIM.
EASY GEO TEACHER....A LITTLE SILLY AND SARCASTIC BUT ENTERTAINING...NO BOOK...NO QUIZZES ...SHOULD BE AN EASY A/B...TAKE HIM!!!!
Although I almost never went to class, still got easy A. Map excercises are super easy with a good online atlas. Osborn tries to make lectures interesting with his jokes and sarcasm... not extremely funny but the effort is surely appreciated in a lecture class. All answers to exam are pretty much given to you in study guide. I DID NOT touch book!
PILLOW
I didn't even buy the book. The guy is a good teacher and if you are into this stuff he really makes this class stand out. I recommended taking both of Osborns Geography classes.
An easy class if u study the study guide. Just a lot of info to memorize. Good if u have a good memory. A nice teacher. I had a 91% and he gave me a solid A. Never went to class & forgot I had a book.
I really enjoyed this class. Great lectures. Learned a lot.
A genuine nice guy. He knows what he is talking about and even though the class is boring, he is entertaining with his sarcasm. His classes alone encouraged me to have a geography minor. I encourage you to take every class he teaches. If you study for the tests and do the map excercises, you will do really well! (No need to buy the book either!)
EASY!!!! Gives you all the notes online, dont even lift a finger to take them down and dont buy the book. The easiest map exercises ever and hes a silly guy. Tests are big but right from notes online and study guide. Attendance isn't required so you never even have to go with the notes online!!!
Best class ever. Do not have to attend, its extra credit. ALl notes are posted online. 4 map quizes given on fridays, turn in on mondays. Test usually have 65 questions, but he gives you a great study guide, you just have to study.
DONT GO TO CLASS! notes online. tests are easy. plus, listening to the guy lecture is pure torture. i swear the guy hates and complains about everything he touches.
never go to class! ALL THE NOTES ARE ONLINE! anyone that has taken the class before has the same tests that you take in class and only the order of the questions is changed. so easy...take it
super easy. all lectures are online and he gives out study guides and everything comes from the lectures... don't even need to go to class, but should go before tests. super nice and super easy. he's awesome
lets just say i found a way to learn and raise my gpa at the same time without breaking a sweat

really laid back. accepts assignments late if you talk to him. really good easy class
Nice. Funny. Easy. Study guides for all tests. Multiple choice. No BS assignments. All notes online. Doc Oz is the perfect prof.
Just read over the notes posted on the website before the test and read over the study guide and you'll do finnee! no HW, just 2-3 map exercises, super easy. He even insisted that we dont take notes in class because it'll hurt our hands [haha]. funny man.
this class was boring, but the study guide is very long and detailed, only study the imortant stuff, ie- the state that produces the most coal, and the ethnicity the dominates the south. Its not hard, and test includes an easy essay question. Very flexable person and teacher.
great professor. gives thorough study guides. dont even need to attend class. very very nice man
pay attention and read over the study guide-you'll be fine, awesome teacher, seems pretty over qualified for his job (seems a little bitter about it), interesting class, shows pretty cool videos, great GE, great teacher
VERY EASY TEACHER. NO NEED TO ATTEND CLASS NOTES ARE ONLINE. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK YOU WILL NOT USE IT. JUST STUDY THE STUDY GUIDE BEFORE TEST AND READ THROUGH NOTES. GOT A B+ WITH OUT TRYING. NO HOMEWORK ONLY 3 MAP EXERCISES.
Osborn is awesome! very helpful teacher
dont need the book.... dont need to goto class, all notes online!!! show up for test and study his study guide youll get an A
this was a great class, dont buy the book, i barely went to class, only studied the study guide and i got an A, 3-5 map exercises are super easy points. definitely take him even if it means mwf class, its so worth the easy A especially to boost your GPA if you need it
one of the easiest upper division classes u can take. Study guides outline EVERYTHING and i mean everything that will be on the test. No need to purchase the book. I never read it & I got an A. U have 2 or 3 exmas (he always falls behind, paper-super easy & a final (1/2 of the questions come from old tests & u get to keep the old exams) easy A
super easy class. DONT BUY THE BOOK! never went, barely tried and got a B+ ....definitely take this class
Takes test questions directly from old tests. He's sarcastic and "hates life" which make his classes fun and interesting. You barely need the book. Powerpoint notes are online.
People, take Osborn... you won't regret it. Study guide gives the ANSWERS not material. Study it and you'll get an easy A. Don't need to go to class, everything is online including map exercises and study guides. Really nice guy, will change grades if you tell him there is an error. TAKE HIM. AWESOME!!!
this is a MUST TAKE class for GE. good prof, his sense of humor makes class interesting if you are even there. dnt need to go to class bcuz everything is online. study guides & map exercises. the study guides give you the answers to the test not just material. all you have to do for the map exercises is turn them in at beg of class. GREAT CLASS!
If you need this class for GE or your major be sure to take this guy's class! There is a study guide for each exam. I seriously never even opened the book.
A great and funny professor, makes geography fun with his jokes and what not. He grades fairly and will change add a point or two if you can justify your asnwer. Fun GE. Take it with osborn
Lectures are interesting, lecture outlines posted, study guides supplied!
I believe I took this class my first semester. He is an awesome teacher. Funny guy. Very nice and approachable if you ever need which most likely you wont because he is very clear in his lectures and easy to understand.
Pretty funny guy. Really easy class though. Just do all map quizzes, and review study guides for tests plus one paper. Pretty lenient on due dates, takes a while for grades back but easy GE class.
Really boring class. But he tries to make the effort to make it interesting. You actually learn some interesting facts. Gives out a comprehensive study guide prior to each test. 3 tests, 3 quizzes, 1 term paper. Not the hardest grader. Tries to help you out.
easy, easy, easy. study the study guide and you will do fine... go to class for he takes roll and if you pay attention, test becomes easier and easier. if you don't pass this class with relative ease, your a tard
funny & nice. class is really boring but he makes it interesting. i never even read the textbook and got a B+. just study the study guides for the tests, theres 4 tests & 4 map quizzes and he drops the lowest map quiz. they are all super easy!!
Super easy class, gives out study guide before each exam and only 3 map excercises very easy.
He's kind of a strange guy, but he is very nice and teh class is really easy. He does his best to make the class interesting and gives extra credit just for coming to class.
he is really nice and kinda weird but its a funny weird. He tries to make it interesting. His map quizzes are easy and his tests are simple. hes awesome
Weird sense of humor. Not required to attend lecture. 3 Quizzes 4 tests, I went to class only those 7 times and got a B. Never bought the book, he posts study guides and powerpoints online. Maybe if I went to class more than once a month I could have gotten an A.
Excellent teacher, very flexible with make up exams and due dates for projects. He makes the class interesting with his sense of humor. Very easy exams and map quizzes straight from the study guides. Always willing to help.
This class is such a joke. Didn't go to one single lecture and got an A. He gives you a study guide with every topic on the midterms. If you can get a hold of previous years' tests, 70% of the questions are verbatum. I took this class only to raise my GPA, didn't need it for units or GE.
Don't buy the book, you won't need it. His powerpoints are on the website, and his study guides are useful enough to get you through. Never stayed a full lecture, and pulled a B. He's easy to approach and extremely helpful.
Osborn is awesome. He wants everyone to do really well so his study guide is pretty much the ANSWERS, not what to study. His map tests are cake too. Really approachable and extremely nice. TAKE HIM!! oh.. and no final
Awesome professor! Only used the book to write essays for exams. Flexible if you talk to him. Funny lectures.
Fun Instructor, always comes up with random comments and jokes. Just follow your notes and the study guide and you should do great in this class!
His lecture is funny. His power point is online (so no need to take a note.) His study guide for exam is very helpful. You'll have 1-week to do a take-home essay. He tries to help you. Be relax & just sit down to listen to his funny lecture. I've got A. :-)
ridiculously easy class. two tests and final thats not cumulative, all easy. paper and map quizzes are easy. he gives you study guides for the tests and quizzes with everything on it, so just study those. book is unnecessary. i only stayed for the whole lecture twice all semester and i got a solid A. osborn is sarcastic and funny and willing to help. great gpa booster.
easiest/nicest prof @ sdsu, seriously! this class is easier than HS. 3 tests, he gives comprehensive study guides class before, 3 map quizzes, gives study guides class before, he puts all the slides online, attendance not necessary but gives extra credit for attending class, tests have take home essay portion, super easy!
Awesome class with an awesome teacher. I taken two classes with Professor Osborn and they are two of the best classes I have taken in my four years at SDSU. He's a super chill teacher who grades fairly and makes the class go by quickly.
he is the funniest teacher ever... i learned a lot during this class but i was cracking up the whole time lol everything is understandable and the tests are fair so just study and youll get an A and have fun =]
Professor Osborn is amazing! He is a lil weird but super chill. 4 map quizes but he drops one. three midterms and a final but all you have to do is studdy the study guide that he provides you with.
Really chill teacher. Study for the map quizzes, print out the notes and study the notes AND study guides and you'll do fine. I didn't bother going to class much but he's an interesting lecture professor.
easy GE class, just show up to sign in and get study guides for the tests. you shouldn't be in college if you can't manage a B in this class!
He is awesome. Knows SO much random information, tests and map quizzes are easy if you study for a little bit. And he's really a great guy.
Loved this teacher! He is so nice and very intesresting. There are 2 tests, project, and a couple of map quizzes. Overall, the class was easy and interesting. I would recommend this class for Gen. Ed.
He is awesome! Quite a funny guy but most of all knows exactly how to teach a class.
great guy...knows so much random stuff but keeps u interested....tests and quizes are easy..ypu do have t write an essay for every test though but he grades really easy.
Fairly basic class. Some interesting concepts, some not so much. No assignments- 3 map quizzes, 3 tests, and a final. Osborn is really funny. He manages to make really boring things more interesting. I never once used the book. If you go to at least 3/4 of the lectures you will have no problem on the tests.
he's an easy teacher plain and simple if you need upper division electives just take his class if you don't get at least a B in his class then you probably shouldn't be in college
very easy class. 3 quizzes 3 exams and a final. didn't go to class and just studied the study guide the night before and managed to get an A for all quizzes and exams. Don't buy the book!! I didn't and did fine
I went to lectures, did the reading and rec'vd an A-. Should have been an A but he didn't provide clear instructions on what he wanted in the essays (ex: citations) until 2nd to last class. Some test questions were in the book and not covered in lectures. Personally, I did have to study and go to class and I carry a 3.45.
Very easy class. Professor is ridiculous, very unorganized, and lost our essays, but gave us automatic A's on them. Buying the book was a waste, I only used it to write the essay he lost. Just study the slides he puts on blackboard. I never stayed a full class and still got an A. Test's were more based on common sense.
Someone should give this prof his own stand up show on Comedy Central. Hell, I'd watch it. Map quizzes suck. Try memorizing 150+ countries, cities, rivers, etc for a 10 question quiz. I was lazy and failed most of them. Tests are really easy though. Overall, the class is an EASY B but an A is pretty tough because of the map quizzes. Recommended.
this class is a guaranteed B without effort. He gives out the PP notes that are EXACTLY like the ones he does in class so technically you dont even have to show up but he gives an extra %2.5 credit if you miss less than 4 days of class. The map quizzes are really not that hard. he's funny but unorganized. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK there is no need
Don't buy the book. You never open it. You don't have to attend but he gives you extra credit. He's funny with a dry wit, but I found the subject extremely boring. The tests are easy got A- on all of them.
Do not buy the book. He is really funny and entertaining and he knows his stuff. You don't really need to show up to class because he gives a study guide with everything from lectures on it. Map quizzes are a lot of memorization, but there are only 4 of them. Could be an easy class with night-before cramming, just don't downplay it too much
I got straight A's this semester except for this class. This class isn't about geography at all, but the cultural and political history of every country in the world, and yes you'll be tested on all of it! It's not terrible, but you CAN'T let it fall by the wayside. Osborn doesn't enjoy teaching anymore and it shows.
EASY. There are 3 exams, and 3 map quizzes that count. I studied the night before for all of them and got an A. Class is mostly based on memorization. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. You don't even have to show up most of the time. Take him!
Awesome teacher. We had one "pop paragraph" during the semester to prove we were in class that day. Otherwise, all assignments were relevant to our class. Learned a lot. Didn't require ridiculous amounts of work. DON'T buy the book. Just show up to class and take notes, and I'd recommend making your own study guide based on the notes. Easy class :)
Class was really easy. You take a map quiz 4 times. They are 100 parts on the map and 10 are on the quiz. The tests are not very hard. Just go to class and know the study guides VERY well because all that info is on the test. GREAT TEACHER!!!
Perfect upper div elective. Easy tests, no mandatory attendance, no hw. Easy A. Don't buy the book, and study the ppts and study guide inside and out. Tests are based on memorization, but beware of trickery on the tests. First test is easy so take advantage of it. He's a super nice guy... kinda fits the stereotype of a teacher you'd see in a movie.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. Attendance is not mandatory, but it really helps if you go and take notes. There are 4 map quizzes, it's not hard at all (if you study). 2 exams & the final. EASY AND FUN CLASS.
I never bought the textbook and still passed every test or quiz he gave out. He's easy, tries to be funny A LOT, and seems pretty helpful. Although he doesn't take attendance, he assigns random quickwrites if we were mentally in class or not. Totally take him if you need a GE credit taken out.
Wow Osborn made this class so much fun with his comedy and easy to follow. Study for the tests and map quizzes through the study guides he gives. No textbook is needed since you can download his powerpoints. He's lazy posting up the grades on blackboard but other than that do yourself a favor and take him for an easy A or B.
Very boring lectures. Attendance gives up to 2.5% added to final grade. I attended few lectures and read the PowerPoints before the exams and got an A.
Prof Osborn is a pretty easy going guy, everything in the class is straight forward. You don't have to buy the textbook, everything is on power point slides. Four map quizzes, he drops the lowest. For all the exams he gives you a comprehensive study guide. Look over it once for an A.
EXTREMELY EASY. Explains why most of the football and baseball team was in it. Theres 4 map quizzes that are really easy even if you only study the night before. Dont buy the book since everything is on powerpoint slides online. Attendance is extra credit so if you dont wanna go just make a friend in the class to sign you in. super easy.
Class is extremely easy. Just go to class, take good notes, he cracks jokes A LOT, but it helps the subject make it a bit more interesting. I enjoyed his class. He gives out very thorough study guides and there's map quizzes, but don't stress too much about it. There's only 10 questions on those map quizzes. Nothing harsh. Good professor
Wasn't really interested in this class. Crashed it cause I had a 4 hour break. I'm glad i got it. Class is so easy. Don't buy the book.Doesn't take attendance. 4 ten question map quizzes (drops lowest one) 3 midterms and a final. Just study the study guide and you're guaranteed an A in the class.
Great, easy class. Even though he was out 3/4 of the semester to illness I enjoyed the time he was there. He's funny and gives out study guides which help tremendously. 4 easy map quizzes (he drops one) and I think 4 tests. Either way, easy class, as long as you study the ppts and study guides. Take him :)
Prof. Osborn's class is one of the easiest GE classes you can take. He is a funny guy and is willing to help if you ever need it (which you probably won't). You don't need to buy the book, study guides are enough. The tests/map quizzes are easy.
His class is based off of TESTS! Start studying for these tests as soon as you get the study guide. STUDY THE WHOLE STUDY GUIDE. His class is not too hard, no homework and he posts ppt slides online. Remember, study the whole study guide!!
Funny teacher. Grade is based off 4 quizzes and three tests. Drops lowest quiz grade. Don't need the book. Has 2 random quizzes so attendance is mandatory. GIves out study guides before each test/quiz
Funny and informaive professor. Knows what he talks about and DO NOT buy the book. His lectures are based off of it. He makes geography interesting. I recommend taking notes or looking through his powerpoint slides. He throws random facts. 3 fairly easy essay non-comprehensive. 2 "pop" essays serve as extra credit. Attendence about 5% of grade.
Funny and energetic professor who knows his stuff, so you don't need the book at all. no homework, and you dont need to take his notes, but do come to class. 3 exams based off of his lectures and PowerPoint slides. Very laid back class, and offers 2 pop essays/quizzes which serve as extra credit. He tends to go off topic a lot, but it's all good.
Professor Osborn is a very enthusiastic teacher. This class is not an easy A OR B, but it is attainable. Show up for class, and make sure you study the study guide to a t! The exams are all based off of the slide lectures, so attendance is key! There are 4 map quizzes, and he drops your lowest. Also, he grades on a friendly curve!
Dr. Osborn is a great professor with a very unique and sarcastic sense of humor. The class itself is not very hard, but you do have to study to get a good grade. Your grade is based off of 4 exams and 4 map quizzes, and your lowest quiz grade gets dropped. Attendance is not required but he offers extra credit if you sign in so make sure to go!
I dreaded going to class every day. This class is extremely boring. I hated it. There are 4 map quizzes, 4 tests and a final. Prof. Osborn gives you study guides for all of his tests. If you study them you will be fine. Pretty easy class. I got a B+ but I could have gotten an A no problem if I would have actually payed attention and studied.
Take this guys class. His class is boring, but he is very energetic, funny, and as long as you go over the study guide before the test, you will for sure pass. 4 map quizzes, which aren't that hard, and he drops the lowest one. Go to class or have a friend sign you in for extra credit.
A lecturer that pours out his immense knowledge of course content. I really enjoyed the course
One of the best teachers I've had in my time at SDSU. He is a really funny guy and he is able to entertain the class while still being informative and interesting. There are 3 tests equaling 80% of the grade (final is not cumulative) and 3 map quizzes that are straight forward and easy. Show up, pay attention and you'll love this class.
BORING BORING BORING! Attend! he gives extra credit. Easy exams, everything comes from "STUDY GUIDE" STUPID MAP QUIZZES, not hard but too much time remembering everything for only 10questions. EASY A, got lazy and got a B
This class was a joke. Attendance = Extra Credit so I suggest you make friends with someone that goes to this class every time and have them sign you in. Otherwise you're stuck in his class listening to his loonggg, dreadful talks. I'll admit he's funny sometimes, but he goes on rants about random stuff all the time. EASY A though
Very easy class, you could learn a lot if you're new to other cultures. Nice guy, and fairly interesting lectures. They were far too long though, hard to stick around after the break midway through. Stick to his study guides and review the slideshows before the exams and you will be fine. Don't waste your money on the book, you won't need it.
Easy, fun class.
Pretty easy class to fulfill GE requirement. Attendance isn't mandatory but you can get extra credit for signing in. He gives you a study guide with everything for each of the 4 tests so paying attention in class isn't necessary. 4 map quizzes, 1 dropped. He's funny and laid back. Take this class!
Super easy class, but still really interesting. There are 4 map quizzes, which he drops the lowest of, and 4 tests, and he gives you a great study guide. You also get extra credit for going to class. He has a really sarcastic sense of humor. I would recommend this class for sure.
I loved going to his class every MWF. He tried to be sarcastic, and try to incorporate modern issues to our lectures. Only reason why I got a B- is because I never really studied. Extra credit if you go to class. Supper chill class, and recommend him a lot. His enthusiasm is different.
You just have to do well on the 4 Map Quizzes he gives and know the study guide well to get an A in the class. Easy, but can get a little boring.
Professor Osborn is a great teacher that is always willing to help if you ever need it. He always uses sarcasm when he teaches, so it makes class somewhat enjoyable to sit through. I recommend going to class as their is a sign sheet for EXC. Grade consists of 4 map quizzes and 4 tests. Study guides are given for tests, study that and it's a easy A.
This class is the the easiest class. Professor Osbron is the kindest person and prof. he gives students study guide before every "Test" also, he gives a study guide before quizzes. The attendance is not mandatory but if you have attended more than 90% u'll get 2.5% EC. you can sign the sheet then leave the class. 15% Qzs 60% Mid 25% Final
I loved Professor Osborn. He was hilarious and made his long lectures bearable. He gives study guides for all quizzes (four of them, but drops the lowest) and tests (three, but not comprehensive). I didn't need the textbook at all, but just studied his lectures and study guides. He had 4 random "essays" for participation, but they were easy.
He knows people take geography 102 for the easy A and he isn't salty about it Attendance was not mandatory but you do get 2% extra credit if you attend his lectures I didn't even know a textbook was required of us until the end of the semester, that's because his lectures and power points are more than enough. Pay attention for the movie references
Grades based on 3 exams (80%), 3 map quizzes (15%) and attendance(5%). He said minimum of two attendance checks, and only did it twice. Book is not necessary at all. He gives you study guides for the map quizzes and exams and if you study these you can get an A. This is what i did(never paid attention in class). He's hilarious too. Take him.
Nice guy. Never opened the book. Study for the map quizzes, they're super easy. Gives a study guide with all the information you need to know for the tests. Spend some time looking over them and you'll do well. At least one of the short answer questions will be on the test. Lectures are him reading from slide but can get you attendance points.
He's a nice guy and is extremely helpful if you go to his office hours.
most of the classes he teaches are quite easy! he is nice guy. three exams80% multiple choices and short answer questions. map quiz15% attendance5%
Super boring. His humor is awful... but his lectures are super informative. You don't need to read if you go to class.
Easily my favorite class this semester. He's like a weird mix of Eddie Izzard, George Carlin, and the Nutty Professor - not for everyone, but absolutely hilarious if you like sarcastic humor. Textbook is a waste of money IF you attend the lectures. Very knowledgeable and always willing to help at office hour. Would recommend.
Dry humor. Extremely helpful. Gives a couple of attendance points through quick writes. Makes all lectures available online. Hardest part are the map quizzes. he has 4 all together and have A LOT to remember but only asks 10 questions on quiz. His lectures are long but because he likes to cover interesting current events as well. Great professor
Extremely clear teacher and fair grader. If you study hard for the tests, you will ace the class. It's a lot of information, but definitely possible. He will remind you of your dad.
Great Class to be in and always upbeat and loves his subject. I had 3 hour class with him, but I enjoy it. There were 3 test including final and 4 map quizzes map quizzes consist of 10 question at random from the map that you are given, there a lot of places to memorizing them and does takes time, drop the lowest one. No extra credit.
This class was pretty much an easy A for me. I didn't go to class very often, but if you go he gives you extra credit for signing on the sheet. I just print out the exam study guide and look over his power points before the midterms, and that usually guarantees me a A-B on the tests. You do have to study the guide pretty thoroughly though.
Easy A and hilarious
Professor Osborn loves to make puns and jokes (even if the class doesn't laugh at a lot of them). His class was very easy, I don't think you even need to show up. As long as you read the powerpoints and study guides and know them very well, you'll do great on exams. Map quizzes were online this semester. He is a very kind professor! Take his class
This guy is a true lecturer. He is entertaining and loves to talk. He is very fair and will work with you on an individual basis if needed. The study guides are just an outline of the material, but I have found them to be very helpful. Map quizzes are so easy. His jokes real you back into consciousness when you're drifting off to la-la land.
I really enjoyed this class. If you pay attention in the lectures, you'll pass the test easily. I enjoyed his sense of humor, although I can see how not everyone would. You can tell he is really passionate about his subject and loves geography. This was an easy A and a fun class to attend at the same time. Definitely would recommend.
He has good intentions, but his tests cover a ridiculous amount of material. Six page back and front study guides with tiny font about mostly dry material. I would not take this course again. One good thing is attending class is not mandatory AT ALL. DO NOT buy the book I never opened it once. Just study the study guides alot and youll pass
Very easy and straight forward tests, which consists of 3 midterms and 1 final. There are four map quizzes during the course and they are the easiest thing i ever did in my life and they consist of 15% of the final grade. he also drops the lowest map quiz. Class attendance is the extra credit and he really cares for his students.
Very quirky and witty. Interesting lectures. Online map quizzes (He drops your lowest one). Tests aren't too difficult if you attend lecture and look at his study guide (he prints them out for students). Overall, def take him for an easy GE
Textbook! What textbook? Just show up and you will pass Attendance (extra credit) Gives study guides A+ starts from 91 or 90
I personally did not enjoy this class. It was straight lecture everyday. The powerpoints are on BB and you don't need to buy the textbook to pass. If you study the powerpoints and the study guides you'll easily get an A.
I took this class cause so many people rated this professor well.. However, personally I though the professor was nice, but very very boring lectures in a dark room . Although WAAAAAAY too much information for each exam. I'm an A student, but ended up with my first and only C in this class.. I would not recommend this class, sorry!
So easily the funniest professor I've had at SDSU. Go to lecture, pay attention and study for the exams. If you do that you will be fine.
Solid Professor. 3-4 tests including the final, a few quizzes (they're super easy) and that's all. Gives you study guide for quizzes and tests ahead of time. Pretty funny and nerdy. Don't need the book much, just take good notes and thoroughly study the lecture slides on BB and you should be fine.
Great guy also really funny
Very helpful. Interesting sense of humor so enjoy that. Super easy map quizzes for points and the test were easy as long as you go to lecture.
You have to show up to class b/c he takes attendance. Everything you need for the tests is on the powerpoint. Tests weren't too difficult. Very quirky in his teaching style.
This class was fairly easy. Prof. Osborn is quite entertaining and is very enthusiastic in his lectures. The class was bases on exams, map quizzes and participation (summary on class topics). He even prepares a study guide for each exam, so review the guide, and his lecture slides, and you'll earn an A.
Ok straight forward, 4 pop online quizzes enough time and 2 test a midterm and final all multiple choice with few written ones. ALL include study guides! (yes including the Final! ) all guides have 3-4 question that are on the test! Just for you to see what the test may look like. Many slides! But eve-thing is highlighted and BOLD, easy to study.
I loved this class, Prof. Osborn was sarcastic and funny making lectures easy to follow. Attendance isn't mandatory at all, just make sure to go to class to get the study guide and that's all you need to pass. Tests are easy and quizzes are online. No term papers or Hw and Osborn was my favorite person ever.
Lectures straight from the powerpoint and adds some wit. Study guides provided with all the info you need for the tests.
He is a humorous individual, BUT be ready to study for all his powerpoint materials. The study guides are a huge help but you still have to do some fill in the blank work for them. I showed up to class but the powerpoints are online and he pretty much reads word for word. Easy quizzes but be prepared to study everything for his test.
Dr. Osborn is a great choice if you want a professor that tells it how it is. His lectures are entertaining and he is sure to cover all material. The textbook is immediate access so I purchased it and never once opened it. I got C's on the exams so if you're okay with that don't buy the textbook. If you strive for A's then READ and GO TO CLASS
Class probably isn't necessary, but it made information a lot easier to recall when taking the tests so I recommend going. He's a really funny and sarcastic guy so it made lecture worth going to. His study guides are really helpful so make sure to study those along with his powerpoints (very thoroughly). Textbook is not needed but I used it. No EC.
Professor Osborn is a very old-fashioned teacher, although very nice he class had a heavy workload. The work itself was not difficult but there was so much to do in a short time it felt impossible to complete everything on time and read (you need to read to pass exams). Quizzes aren't hard but exams were. Attendance is mandatory (he checks).
Professor Osborn is a cool guy and is passionate about his teaching. He's pretty funny as well. This class was lecture heavy so, as expected, people didn't show up. He puts the slideshows on Blackboard and also gives you study guides for exams and even the final. Study, take notes, do online assignments and you'll be successful!
Great professor with an interesting sense of humor. Take this class, but know there is alot of memorization.
Entire grade rests on three exams plus three map quizzes. A pretty laid-back class throughout the semester, however tests require a plethora amount of effort for memorization. It's suggested to memorize every little fact from both his study guides and PowerPoints. Best Wishes at earning A, because in reality every GE is simply fact memorization.
Please, for the love of God, memorize the study guides before the tests. Every single detail is important. Other than that, this class does not require much effort and is a nice relaxing class if you have an otherwise busy schedule.
Minimal book use, exams are based directly on lectures. Gives really good study guides that cover everything you need to know. Non geography majors may find this class boring, but its easy enough to pass for those that just want a passing grade for their exploration classes. Online quizzes and scantron exams, minimal writing required.
Professor Osborn is a great professor! He knows his subject, and he is very funny. 3 exams where all you have to do is memorize 5-6 pages of detailed information.
Don't Buy The Online Book, You Don't Need It. If You Show Up To His Lecture And Take Notes, You Will Pass. He Explains Better Than The Book. Easy Map Quizzes. Easy Midterms. Gives Study Guides. He Gives The Most Entertaining Lectures Of Geography. He's Strict, But Fair! You Can't Sleep In Class, It's Never Boring. Trust Me Pick This Class.
I loved this professor. He made going to lecture easy since he was fun. You don't have to go to class but you should because sometimes he'll talk about something that isn't on the powerpoints and then will have a question about that on the exam.
Easy to pass, but not easy to get A. Unless, you have a good memory.
I honestly never read the textbook for this class. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! As long as you're good with memorization, you'll pass easily. Our grade only consisted of exams. He's a very nice and funny guy. He's really smart and knows what he's talking about. Attendance isn't mandatory.
I loved him. He is super sarcastic which makes his lectures easy to follow and not hard at all. 3 exams plus final, and online quizzes every two weeks. That´s it. attendance is not mandatory but he makes you wanna go to class. Read the study guides and youre good! I will take him again for sure. Great professor, great class! Take himmm
Great Professor and was truly available outside of class for office hours. His study guide was great preparation for the tests and the material on them was actually on the tests. He is very kind and funny and will do everything he can to make you laugh in class!
Professor Osborn is one of the best professors I've had in college. Despite his lectures being online, he was able to maintain my full attention with his informative, yet hilarious attitude. One downside to the course is that the entire grade was based on exams. With that being said, he was always available to help and his slides were very helpful.
Amazing professor. His study guides help a ton with the tests, and his lectures are excellent. He actually tries to keep you engaged despite it being through Zoom. Wish I could take him in person, he has a quirky humor and seems very knowledgable on the subject! Only problem is the grade being exam based, but his study guides are A1!
Prof. Osborn had some difficulties using Canvas which effected class a little. Wasn't a fan of the 11 hours of lectures posted less than a week from finals when I have other class finals and projects to do, too. The material is easy to digest and remember though so I'm not too upset .
Such an awesome professor. He gives an in depth study guide that helps a ton on the test. Also has a really good sense of humor. I devoted maybe 1 hour a week at most on this class, and still ended up with an A. Definitley give him a go, he's amazing!
He was a rather easy professor, but really understanding with everything going on. Easy A in my opinion.
Love this dude. He's got a great sense of humor, and was incredibly understanding about everything surrounding the pandemic. I took this during COVID and bc it was online, it was probably even easier. Interesting information, and the test questions are pretty direct and aren't meant to confuse. The study guide he provides helps a ton too.
One of the easiest courses I've taken. Professor Osborn had recorded lectures, which he put a lot of work and humor into. Only negative: He posted many lectures late because of technical difficulties. Osborn is super chill and is always available outside of class. You can coast through this course while still learning a lot about the US.
Easiest class ever. He is very laid back. He is entertaining, and makes sure the class isn't too hard. As long as you listen to the lecture and take some notes you will do well in the class. He is not strict at all about anything, which is how it should be. Take him for GEOG 312.
Easy class, all lecture slides are posted online. He makes study guides for the 3 exams, which are a big help. Very laid-back and is constantly making jokes. Lots to learn in class but makes it interesting to learn, I would definitely recommend.
Prof. Osborn's lectures were tedious and monotone. Fairly easy class but quite boring. 3 exams and weekly hw assignment.
Honestly my favorite class this semester. Very humorous and keeps lectures interesting. We were a bit behind on assignments and content due to his difficult transition to Canvas but he was very reassuring and gave us points for things we all missed. 3 exams, 4 map quizzes (we got 2 done), 5 in-class "papers" (we got 1 done). All very easy. Take him
Great professor that truly cares about his students. He gave a very clear grading criteria and is a great lecturer. Highly recommend to anyone
His classwork is very straightforward and simple, same for the quizzes which are always online. Just make sure to do the chapter assignments on time. He rambles in his lectures a lot but he's a good professor overall.
Great professor
This is the second time I have taken him (first time took his GEOG 312). He is a solid choice whether you are a Geog major or just need the credits. Make sure to go over the study guide and you will do well.
Osborn is great, funny, he knows his stuff and you will learn things in his class. However, attendance is not mandatory and you can easily get an A without going to class. Grading is based on 3 midterms, a geography map quiz, and homework which is on the website "pearson". Opt IN to equitable access at the start of year to be able to do the hw.
Easy class, don't get the textbook not needed, just read his lecture slides. Professor is very caring and fun. Lectures not mandatory. Occasional pop quizzes just for attendance.
Good lecturer, funny, and caring about students
What you'll need for this class: be able to take a joke, have equitable access or pay $90 for a textbook you'll need it to do the homework which is worth most of your grade. 3 Midterms and 1 final, all online and you have a 7-hour window to do it, once you start you have 2 hours to finish. TAKE THE CLASS, he's great, very easy, and knows his stuff.
Very easy class. Most of the work is common sense, slides are easy to understand. Exams are easy as well.
I took this to fulfill my science requirements (as a business major) and am so grateful that I did. I went to class the first day and never went back (which I regret, because he seems like a really cute old guy) and ended with an A since it only consisted of online exams that were open note/open internet.
