worst prof in the world; does not teach, just blabs; learn more from the t.a.'s

his class was useless. did not know how to teach. i learned everything from the book and the TA.

he made the class as difficult as he could and made it clear that he would make the final exam deadly on purpose to confuse and upset the writing student

This guys is absolutely useless! He's more concerned about being funny and letting us go early. Luckily I had a background in stats from another school because he couldn't explain how he puts his pants on in the morning!! With this guy, just put your head down and do well on you labs (which are easy), putting you on your way to an A.

Alright? Alright? Alright? TOO EASY! Basically, that's all I learned in this class......how to say those three words with an English accent. He tried very hard to make us understand the material but the way he explained it made it extremely confusing. He's a great guy and really wants to help students. Labs help a lot, if you don't go, you'll fail.

I'M NOT A REAL ESTATE AGENT! This was supposed to be a stats course, not real estate. Horrible professor all around. Doesn't explain things well enough in class, has a weird sense of humour, and just doesn't make any sense at all. The only good thing is his course website.

PATTERN?annoying! all we friggen learned is about houses.. its a social science course and i dont see how houses relate ne way to friggen phq scores of housing quality.. hard hard hard prof. never ever ever take this course with him. u havta left class witha huge headache

He's the worst. He gave us two finals to study off of from previous years, but NOTHING was the same. I watched three girls walk out crying at the end of the final exam. AVOID AVOID AVOID him at all causes.

The worst teacher ever! I'm in Family and Social Relations, and this is a stats class that we learned about housing! what the hell do i know..If this class is ever offered by another prof take it!!!!!

Someone plz tell this guy to retire now!! He made taking stats the worst experience of my life, if it wasnt for the labs and the easy marks with them i would have definitely failed this course. Ok, first his laugh is like nigel thorneberry, youtube it, which is awesome for the first class then the next one you want to kill yourself b.c its annoying. Second, he trails off in the abyss and your left confused. Third, here is how i learned any math formula in my life. 1. State the formula. 2. State the vaules and explain. To be continued*

This is the worst professor I have ever had at the University of Windsor and I have been advised to contact the Dean of the department head--as he is not following proper procedure. You can expect major stress, no help, and anger while taking this class. TAKE IT IN THE SUMMER WITH A GA. Wish I would have.

This man does not care about his students, does not relate to them, purposely makes things more difficult than they should be. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR WELL BEING AND YOUR EDUCATION, I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS MAN...... he is the worst professor I have had in my 19 years of schooling. I guarantee you that you will cry daily, and use many profanities if you take this course with this man. You will be setting yourself up for failure, NOT WORTH IT!!

Never in my life have I ever been so stressed out. I thank you Phipps for the anxiety and depression you have given me. Congradulations, you are slowly killing us all. You should be proud.

Basically he is a horrible teacher. The one thing I will remember about this man's lectures is how he would write something down, look at it, say "too easy" in his thick british accent and move on..without explaining. My advice: GO TO LABS! That is where you'll learn. I got a good mark because I went to every single lab and also taught myself

Worst teacher I've ever had, and I went through the Public School system in the USA. Makes no attempt to make sense. Assumes everything is so easy that he doesn't need to explain it. Cruel sense of humor about students grades and exams. Avoid if at all possible, but don't put the class off. You'll need to take it again :(

You must go to this class. You will hate going to this class. If you go to the class, two things will happen. You'll get the clicker marks, and you'll get the answers to the labs. Nowhere does he explain anything. He just shows you what he wants to see. As long as you do what he does, you'll be fine, but you will NOT learn.

Phipps is useless, you cannot hear half the things he says during lecture and the other half is nonsense that has nothing to do with anything, but you have to go to get clicker marks. I didn't learn a thing for him, i did well because i taught myself all the material. Study the posted quizzes and exams and you'll do well. don't buy the text.

best to avoid any of his classes. doesn't teach the students anything but instead rushes through the class, leaving everyone clueless. in order to finish with a good mark you'll have to teach yourself the material. He also takes forever to post your final mark.

His answer to all students questions: "Oh it's easy!" and says "Hello" far too much. I see some people saying he gives all the answers? Yes, but that is the problem. Phipps DOES NOT teach you. Yes easy marks for assignments, but watch out for the exam, you will know NOTHING.

Phipps was by far the worst prof I have ever had. He doesn't teach at all, I learned everything from my lab GA who was fantastic. He makes everything extremely confusing and way too wordy to even decipher what the question is asking. Tests are way too long and repetitive. Overall a 0/10.

Is there a rating of 0 available? He designs the midterms and exams so that you fail. He gives you only 1.5 hours to complete it, even though the class itself is 3 hours long. Rushes through every class. Makes no sense at all, and says "Hello" WAY TOO MUCH. Hope for a good TA in your lab- it is your only hope to pass the class.

He is very rude. Does not care at all about his students. He makes fun of students in class and calls them stupid. In addition, he does not teach or even make sense. His questions on the midterms make no sense but if you can find a way to de-code what he is asking you should be able to pass. Only help was the SOS.

Hard teacher who barely teaches or explains anything. His exams are difficult and never gives you enough time to finish. If you want to pass, you need to get 100% on all labs and clicker questions.

Stats class was difficult, he does not explain anything. Had to teach myself and my lab instructor was more informative than him. Labs and clicker marks does help a lot but when it comes to the exams you know nothing

Phipps is a terrible teacher. He is ignorant and takes joy in seeing people fail. His tests are hard to finish in time and are repetitive. He does a terrible job of teaching and collects his own data for the class (very boring). I wanted to cry in the exam.

The hardest class I have ever taken is Basic Quan Methods with Alan Phipps. He does not take his students seriously and expects his students to know the material. He does not teach well at all!! Do not take this class unless you absolutely have to!!

Bruh. This guy is just bad. Did not learn a thing from his 3 hour lectures, learned more in the lab. He's honestly the worst, and I'm still having nightmares about how often he says "hello". Straight up no point in going to lectures, go to labs and make sure you know how to do everything on the past midterms and exams to prepare for the exam.

You learn more in labs than you do in the lectures, However do not miss the lectures. Hes a fast talker so its easy to get behind if not paying close attention. It actually haunts me with how much he says hello or yeah? I do not recommend taking his class if you dont have to

Skip class and study by yourself. Bad lecture notes, bad at teaching all he does is shout hello hello, GA should get paid because I learn more in labs. Study from the past papers and labs. MAKE SURE YOU DO PERFECT IN THE LAB

He is the worst teacher I have ever had. Does not teach!!! Rely on your TAs, they will be your saving grace.

Alan Phipps is the worst professor I have ever had. He makes things even more confusing than they already are, his lectures are extremely messy, unorganized, and hard to follow. His exams have content on them that we have not even been taught, substitutes a 3 hour lecture period with a very short (no more than 27 minutes) youtube video (every week)

Dr Phipps has a very uncoordinated way of doing things for the class. He requires you to watch videos on his youtube page which is badly organized. He is also a very difficult marker. The class consist of six lab assignment worth 36%, mid-term exam 18%, participation marks 10% and a final exam worth 36%. I would recommend (NOT) to take his class

His lectures were very confusing and he often ended class early. His midterm and final were extremely difficult. The lectures were long and confusing. He did not explain concepts clearly.

He replaced 3 hour lectures with less than 30 minute youtube videos. he makes the class so confusing and the content so difficult. If it wasn't for the ta I would've failed because I did not understand anything. I would not recommend this class or this prof. terrible class

Awful class, do NOT take his class unless you have to. Labs are easy, but exams are brutal and you have to drop a lot of money to purchase a clicker program or you lose 10% of your grade. would give him a 0 if possible.

Absolutely awful professor. Had to pay for a quiz thing that was used once a week for four questions that could have been done in blackboard for free.

He doesnt use Blackboard, instead he likes to use his 1990s website along with his 1990s teaching style. Dude is way outdated and doesn't teach anything. His lectures consist of him reading slide for slide and writing check marks. You will not take anything out of his lectures unless you like to learn about exterior housing quality lol

This man is the worst online human in the world - garbage

Awful teaching. TA's were nice, labs were easy, but the lectures were 20-30 minute recorded videos during a 3 hour timeslot, and the exams were brutal in comparison to everything else. 10/10 would not reccomend

I wish he used blackboard, his person website was so confusing. BQM is confusing but the way he presents material makes if all that much more confusing. Thank goodness for the TAs

If you got something right and he marked it wrong, don't email him he wont care and just tell you to read the answers he posted. He is extremely rude and snarky. I had to take both stats classes with him, the second class about 72% failed the final and dropped 10%, when emailed him he was extremely rude and basically it all on us.

How is this guy still teaching at the university???! The rudest professor I've ever seen in my 6 years of post-secondary education. I witnessed him intentionally embarrass a 2nd-year student in front of a lecture hall of 200+ people.
