Professor Roebuck is something else. He's a good teacher no doubt, wouldn't want to take that way from someone... He has lots of downsides though. I had 410 with him and he managed to make a fairly easy class absolutely terrible. He doesn't want you to solve problems your own way because only his way is correct? And he is also not inspiring either
He is very good about showing you how to do the problems. Have a question? He will answer it. LOTS OF HOMEWORK but you can turn it in at anytime the day its due (even if he isnt in his office) for full credit.
I took this class (with this professor and at 7:30 AM) because it fit my schedule. Little did I know that I would have to withdraw halfway through the semester or fail. I wasn't able to understand so I lived in the MSC and SI. Even if I got the right answer on the test, I'd get marked off if I didn't use his formula that I couldn't understand.
He always wants the answer his way. If you do it a different way he will dock points out. and its honestly really a mess.
Professor Roebuck was nice for the most part, and was understanding when the occasional innocent mistakes were made. However, the grading criteria was ridiculous and very hard to understand. He also lectured way too quickly and it was too difficult to keep up with him during lecture. Lastly, he was very monotone and boring. I would not take again.
He is very lecture heavy, not too bad with attendance. However he lectures for almost 3 hours non stop and rarely asked if the students understood the lecture. If you mess up a part of the answer on a test he will deduct a half of the points. Do not take if you find math already difficult.
Note packets are not interactive. Does not explain the topic well.
If you struggle with math or are taking other classes do not take this class. He assigns so much homework every week, and gives you packets of lecture notes that arent the slightest bit helpful. In a 2.5 hour class he gives one 10 min break and lectures down to the very last second. Not engaging at all. I found it very hard to pay attention.
He is a nice professor don't get me wrong but his teaching style isn't for most, unless you like getting talked at. It is his way or the highway when you take his class. He doesn't know how engage his students at all. My class went from 40 students to a solid 8-10 depending on the day. If that doesn't speak for its self i don't know what would.
Prof Roebuck always took the time to explain difficult concepts and answered as many questions as class time allowed. He would review with the class before tests and answered homework questions before we turned the work in. He was tough, but very fair and seemed to want everyone to succeed. Lectures can be boring, but he was able to keep me engaged
Professor Roebuck is so strict, and his exam is so difficult. I could not pass his class and too much homework. His class is kind of boring. I do not recommend taking his class. If you not good at math, do not take his class.
I dont think he is a bad professor, but he does assign A LOT of homework. Prepare to spend about 2 hours on each HW assignment. He is a tough grader, but lets you know exactly how he wants you to answer. He wants you to use his methods. Its honestly not a big deal if you actually do the hw and watch the lectures. I got an A in the class.
He is a good professor himself, but his class and grading procedures are rough. His class consists of: weekly HW assignments, long/boring lecture videos/notes, and 4 heavy exams. HW BARELY affects your grade, do it+5% don't-5%. His tests are SUPER difficult, no MC, do not reflect HW questions, in order to pass class you NEED to ace the tests! :(
I took his Collage Algebra prep class. He had all his lectures pre-typed up. I just needed to print them all out. No book needed. Lectures were easy to follow. He also had all his lectures on YouTube in full length if I wanted to go back and see a problem he may have skipped during class.
I took one of his classes not long ago and my experience was awful. The lectures were very long and boring, sometimes he would skip over certain problems that were on the tests. There is TONS of homework however it counts as only 5% of the grade. The tests are what you have to do well on to pass the class and he is a very very tough grader.
This was my first time taking this professor and this class was difficult I couldn't pass so much homework that he would assign and very little tike to do it all and homework barely does anything to your grade so even if you do it or not there is no point would not recommend to take his class it was not helpful it was awful and I failed it unfair
An insane amount of homework that is barley worth any points. Skips over a lot of information and makes instructions more complicated than they need be. Also if you use your own method of solving a math problem, it won't count because it will either be docked or considered cheating.
He doesn't even let us use notes.
I would not take this professor again, he is very boring and does not explain his class well. Do not take this class ever. Take another statistics class.
He does not teach well and makes the class more difficult than it should be.
he was a very tough grader and showed no mercy
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He gives HOURS worth of homework plus he does have pre-recorded lectures but he does not help with all questions. The tests are so bad, he does not even let us use notes and does not give enough time for the test. I would take 6+ hours on homework just for his class everyday, and just to get a C. Worst experience of my life.
seems like a sweet guy but so monotonous in his method of teaching. heavy load of hw (like SEVERAL hours a week), dense tests (NOTES NOT ALLOWED), overall not very engaging or welcoming
Homework dense and is very critical while grading it (expect to lose points), difficult tests, prepare to dedicate at least 5 hours a week. Prof is nice albeit tough teacher. To pass: Turn in late hw it's only 1/2 point reduction, watch lectures 2x speed, pay attention to study guide because it is a good rep of what he will ask on the test.
Have to write everything down/ use the methods he teaches (if you use another way he'll suspect you're cheating) not worth it one assignment takes forever
This professor is the WORST professor I have ever had! He is boring, lectures from a projector screen, monotone and confusing. He gives a ton of homework which only worth 10% of your grade. Skip all the homework and focus on passing the test in order to pass the class. He is horrible, unless you're a math major-stay away from this professor!!
He wants students to utilize only his method and doesn't give enough examples to help with repetition. He relies on the calculator but only states how to get to the correct menu once, gives HOURS worth of homework, and makes it more complicated than it is. Packets on top of packets. Makes me feel dumb at times.
Just do not!
No extra credit! Class has no structure!! Messy, unorganized, and disorganized. Slow grader. Nightmare to work with. Has no patient. Get lost! Avoid at all cost! Do not waster your money, value, and time on him.
Prepare for a challenging course with lots of homework, but unstuck ai can be a helpful study tool. The professor has a specific teaching style, so be ready to adapt.
The only assignments we had were homework and exams. He did not offer any extra credit or grading curves. His notes and way of explaining it are confusing. It felt that whenever we asked him a question, he would get mad. Honestly, save time and take this course online or at another school.
He expects us to know more than we do and isn't as clear in explaining this as he should. His lectures are lengthy and not very easy to follow. Thorough on tests, but you will be accused of cheating if you use other methods. So much homework and it's worth basically nothing. My class averages between 40-60 on every exam. I would not recommend.

Worst teacher in my entire life!! Do not take this class if you struggle with math. This teacher lectures are boring, hard to follow and monotone. He made us purchase a text book we never used. It was just overall a horrible experience. The "mean" test scores on the three test and final exam ranged from 29-38. Take this class at your own risk.
Difficult, lots of homework, sometimes points are docked for minor mistakes but overall okay with grading.
the worst college professor i've ever had, just reads off a packet the entire time. be expected to learn calc all on your own.
He grades hella hard, doesn't let you use notes on the tests, tests aren't graded on a curve.
I've taken stats with two other professors and he's the best i've had. Definitely not an easy class but if you watch every lecture and do every assignment it can be easy, just be prepared to put in the work.
doesn't respect your time, doesn't include everything during lecture, tells you to watch a youtube video of a previous lecture instead, guys a joke. do not take summer class.
Okay Professor Roebuck is not the greatest teacher but he does try and if you listen and do ALL the work you can pass the class. I am the worst in math and there were days I wanted to give up but I kept going. I passed with a C. Was it hard, YES EXTREMELY. Does he make it easier? No. But he gives you every thing you need to pass.
This class was bad not kidding. He does give you printed notes which is great! However, the notes he provides never matches up with the homework. Yes he answers emails very quick, but the exams are harder than the homework, and study guide. Recommend to not take this class if your new to taking Calculus
His lectures are very thorough, but that's to a detriment. 2 hours of lecturing on things with barely any time to actually grasp the concepts if you aren't eating and breathing Calculus. If you don't have the time to absolutely ingrain the concepts, you're going to fail. If you get 2 or 3 problems wrong on the ~14 problem exams, you're getting a D.
Honestly, a lot of work and a lot of lectures.
Do not take this professor under any circumstances. I had him for stats and all he would do for a THREE hour class was lecture. Hed give us these fat packets of notes. For the hw you gotta go home and wing it. And just hope you only have one math assignment cuz if its 3 your gonna be doing it for HOURS and itd only be worth like 2pts no joke.
Spends multiple hours straight doing nothing but lectures and sends you home with homework worth 2 points each assignment, only for you to have to teach yourself the material because you learned nothing from him. Whole class is a crazy waste of time and you'd be better off finding a different professor.
not even done with his class yet but i can't stand it. i've given up doing homework because it's only 10% of your grade but still takes a whole day to complete ONE assignment. if you do okay on the tests you MIGHT be fine. just do not take this class. i beg
He's wishy washy with the grading sometimes you'll full credit if you show all your work others you'll get points taken off because you showed your work. Very tough grader takes points off for every single thing
Despite the overwhelming amount of negative reviews, Roebuck truly is a good professor. Yes, the lectures are long and he assigns a lot of homework, but it's for a reason. Roebuck doesn't waste time with unnecessary chatter; he goes straight into why you're there, to learn! Tests do reflect what is on the homework. Time manage well and you'll pass.
I had Professor Roebuck for Math65A, Calculus I. He explained very much in his zoom meetings, and they were recorded so I could go back. I turned in most assignments late, however the penalty, he accepted and gave me credit for it. If you follow his style of teacher you will definitely succeed. I would if you are willing to put all effort into it.
The homework is worth 2 points and is not even worth it for the work. If you do not use his methods he accuses you of cheating even though he gives you the formulas on the 20+ page study guide. He takes unnecessary points if you show your work and if you do not.
