Extremely helpful and interesting professor.
Very nice guy, but as a prof very hard. Has weekly quizes that are as long as normal tests, and long homeworks that are graded like tests or quizes. If you are a major it might be good, but if you just need a math credit try someone else.
He is a great teacher and he is very helpful. He is definitely an easy teacher because the grading scale is variable, meaning it can be altered if all most students are in favor of one way. He does give out weekly quizzes but they are very helpful.
If you take the online 170 course as an elective, be prepared to spend hours on the programming assignments! And even after a unit is finished, you can't even get the correct solution to the programs or quizzes if you're having trouble!
Dr. Salesky is a very nice man.
Dr. Saleski is an outstanding teacher. He demands alot of work, but you really learn from him.

Can you spell H-O-M-E-W-O-R-K? This professor must think students are as obsessed with math as he is. There is way too much homework. If you have other classes beware! I had to drop twice. I will not take him again.
Saleski is the best math teacher I have ever had. He is very enthusiastic about math, and sincerely wants every student to succeed. Very helpful and flexible with the schedule/syllabus.
I had dropped 3 straight math classes before this one, because my professors couldn't speak english or communicate clearly. Dr. Saleski is a truely great teacher. very patient and well spoken. breezed through the class once i got the hang of things.
great teacher!!!
Nice guy, good teacher. Really helped me understand math!
HE is the EASIET and NICEST teacher I have ever met. His tatics for preparing for the test are very helfpul. He is also the most FLEXIBLE teacher I have ever met necause he is willing to change things and lastly, he is very HELPFUL!!!
Really helped me to do well in this class. Very flexible. I reccommend.
Loved Him!!!! Great teacher, knows his content and is amazingly kind and understanding.
All of these good qualities put together plus a lot more!!! He is THE BEST!!!!!
A professor par excellence. Should be the Dean of College of Arts' and Sciences'.
182,263,298,321,351 If I would take one teacher more than 5 times he has got to be good... part of the reason I am a math major now!!
Dr. Saleski has a knack to teach hard material in a way that it becomes lucid. Organizes the courses in a way that it works in the best interest of the students. Gives extra credit and easy credit opportunities, such as write a letter to a friend about the course (10% of the grade)!

Expects too much. HW every class, and takes 1-2 hours to solve each night. For intro 200 level course, way too much work. nice though. Flexible w/ turning in and extra credit. Someone should tell him that his class isnt the only one we take each semester. Wants you to eat sleep and dream math.
First thing you need to know is that there will be a lot of homework. You'll be able to go through it in class and any questions will be explained. As long as you do the homework and it's neat you'll get and A on homework. Tests are of reasonable difficulty. Some are harder, but it all depends on your mastery of the material. In retrospect It was e
dr. saleski is a good teacher. he tries hard to make everyone enjoy what he is teaching. he has a hard time understanding that most students dont understand what is going on, and needs to slow down. overall, he is helpful when you ask, and he tries his best. i think if given the chance, i would take him for another class
Class is not easy, but if you ask questions and talk to him it's alot easier to understand the material. You need to go to class and go to the labs in order to obtain a solid grade.
avoid! he thinks that his class is the only class you are taking. way too much work
Dr. Saleski was always available to help me when I didn't understand topics discussed in class which was almost always. Class was difficult and there was alot of homework! Better make sure you have good handwriting!
The best math teacher at Loyola. His lectures are so interesting and he is a great inspiration.
Saleski is a lot of work, I'm not going to lie. But in the end the grade is fair. He is a good professor to take--after his class you will know if you should be a math major or not.
Very good at explaining and teaching. Very leniant on grading and turning in homework. What you learn here will help later.
He's amazing! Always available to help, and willing to give aid if you seek it. Tests are hard and require a lot of study, but he's willing to help with your study. Study groups really do help! Really lenient on when you turn in homework. Takes criticism and how you feel into consideration. Overall, a GREAT professor!
He is an amazing professor. He is always willing to help you out. His tests are lengthy, but he makes them do-able. HE gave us practice tests for each test and for the final. There is daily homework, which is mangable, just don't fall behind. He doesn't follow the book very much which is good because it is confusing, so lecture is crucial.
He's hilarious
Good guy. Hes not the greatest teacher though. He is very unclear some times but none the less good. 90 = A 75= B 50 = C and 25 = D, no joke its hard to fail but hard to get an A
I REALLY LIKE HIM!!! HE'S SOOOO NICE! He's extremely helpful. You have to work tho, and if not it's hard. There's 9 or 10 quizes, 2 r dropped, 3 tests, and a final, so there's something EVERY Friday. He wants every one to succeed. He is clear and understandable. He doedn't take attendance, but you NEED to go and shows in ur grade. I RECOMMEND HIM!
It was nice to have a math professor with a sense of humor for once! While he wasn't the easiest professor, he was a clear lecturer and fair grader. Very helpful!
I love him and his class! He's such a jolly and sweet man. I'm so glad I got him for Math 162 next semester. I would really recommend him; he definitely wants you to do well. This class does require work, but has a pretty laid back atmosphere considering we had a lab component. He gives a lot of extra credit, so take advantage of that. Great class.
Saleski is the cutest lil old man ever. He wants everyone to do well but really can't explain calculus very well. If you have background in Calc, his class is perfect for you. The grading scale makes it impossible to fail. He thinks the best of his students and his general demeanor is great, but he is tough. and his final was Hell!
He is funny, kind, honest, and etc. Attending class is mandatory in a way, since there is always a quiz or test every Friday. Although, he gives out alot of practice quizes and tests for you to go over. Class isn't too hard, and I'm "so so" with math.
The class is difficult but you walk away learning from it. He makes sure his students learn and is very helpul at all times. Although he overloads his students with work, he makes the class worth taking.
Take this teacher if you get the chance!!! The subject is pretty hard but he makes the atmosphere of the class SO laid back..He's not the best at teaching math but he is soooo nice and helpful!! IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL! And gives LOADS of extra credit! =]
really great teacher. he's really sweet and easy and helpful. not a hard class, and all of his tests and quizzes are exactly like the practice quizzes he gives you prior to that quiz or test.
when a 50% is a C it just tells the class. He does the same problems in class that are on the tests. The only hard part was the Maple labs but that is because I suck on a computer. Take him if u need a math credit!
Extremely helpful! Take him if you get the chance! He's hilarious and when a sub comes in, you'll wish he was back. He makes math fun! Group work every monday, every other wednesday are maple labs, and every friday is a test or quiz but he gives you practice quizzes and tests which are VERY helpful! Homework is hard and webwork can sometimes be har
Dr. Saleski will by far be your favorite math teacher of all time. He is so nice and helpful and really cares about the students. The grading scale is awesome, with an 85% being an A, but he still makes you work for it! Just do the practice quizes and study and you dont have to worry about it! =)
I love this man. He makes math fun and interesting. Makes me want to become a math major. If you get the chance to take him you will not regret it. Simply amazing. If you go to class and pay attention there is no need to study
Dr. Saleski is my favorite teacher right now. He is inspiring and genuinely interested in his subject and students.
While the Professor is really helpful, and is willing to do a lot to help you comprehend the material, the class is very arduous. He encourages the use of study groups, which work surprisingly well. He's a great professor, and funny in an intellectual way. His courses are always entertaining.
Great teacher! Really entertaining and helpful. Grading scale makes it impossible to fail. Go to class, do practice quizzes and its pretty easy. Probably the best math teacher I have ever had. Take his class if you get the chance. I took MATH 161 with him and liked it so much I took 162 with him also!
Saleski is awesome! He actually made sense of calculus! you have to do a lot of work, but it all spread out over the semester. quizz every Friday, but if you do practice there are no suprises. group work every Monday, so you have to go to class to get participation points. Overall, very helpful, very easy if you do assigned work. TAKE HIM!
Dr. Saleski is perhaps one of the nicest professors I have ever had. Class is tough, but manageable. Physics and Chem majors, this is your class. Take lucas is you don't want a challenge. weekly quizzes and graded homework, which, in the long run, keeps you prepared. Go to his office for help and he explains everything!!
Challenging professor
Super nice curve in grading.
ONE OF THE BEST MATH PROF. 3 exams, 1 final, quizzes every week (around 8), 3-4 Mathematica labs, 1 project at the end, homework(not mandatory).Gives good notes which you SHOULD take.Go over his notes,do hw,do the proofs,go over quizzes and you should be set for the exam. A is POSSIBLE with some hard work. GREAT CURVES on quizzes and exams too. ;)
Forgot to post his website here .... it's .... http://webpages.math.luc.edu/~ajs/courses/212spring2010/index.htm . I hope it helps. :)
I took Dr. Saleski for the summer session. Great experience! Clear, helpful, and patient! Difficult exams for which he does much to prepare you. A few mathematica labs, which I despised, and a hefty amount of my math lab, which is pretty helpful. Group and quizes are helpful in keeping you on track. Excellent calculus education. Definitly take him!
i've taken saleski for 3 classes- 162, 201, and 212. he is a great guy and knows what he's doing but you have to work hard to do well. i don't work that hard in # theory and have a B because of his awesome curve. encourages groupwork and office hours and is always trying to help. take him if you like math and dont mind putting in a little effort.
A great professor. I've never been especially keen on math, but he made it as interesting as he could. A man with a true passion for mathematics, Saleski is an amazing teacher for a hard class. Curves are awesome and so long as you put the effort in, you can get at least a B or an A.
One of the best math teachers at Loyola. He asks a lot of his students but is very fair. His class is curved well, and he gives so many opportunities for extra credit on his quizzes and exam. His lectures are interesting and engaging. Take him for any course you can, you will be glad you did!
Easily the best math teacher I have ever had. I would take every math class with him if I could. Not an easy A, but that is because he teaches stuff that is crazy hard--if it were anyone else, the material would probably be twice as difficult. Also, he is Dumbledore.
Dr. Saleski is amazing! He is extremely smart, and you will learn a lot in his class. The class is not easy though, 4 exams (drops the lowest grade),2 Mathematica labs, homework every other week, project and final. He is so helpful and awesome though. Highly recommend.
Easily the best math professor I have ever had. He is hilarious and definitely keeps the class interesting, or at least as interesting as calculus can be. He doesn't make tests and quizzes easy, but it's definitely worth taking any math class with him.
he teaches for math wizards. don't expect to learn a lot if math is not your strong area. hes a nice guy but needs to rethink his setup of the class. group work is useless. there r easier professors. take him if u want to have a challenging class.
Mr. Saleski is one of the coolest, nicest human beings I have ever met. I love that guy. I really hope to take another class with him soon. If you don't do the homework you're not going to do well, and if you're unaware of this, maybe college isn't for you.
Extremely nice teacher and lenient in grading. Homework problems appear on quizzes. Quizzes on every Friday and group work on Wed. Monday class attendance not necessary. Doesn't explain things that well but if you ask for help, he will give you it.
Mr. Saleski cracks me up. He is a funny, humble man who really wants to help his students. He answers all emails, walk ins in his office, questions in class and encourages us constantly to come to him for help whenever we need it. He even emailed me a few times to check how I was doing! Sometimes he trails off the subject a bit, but overall great.
My favorite math teacher at Loyola. His upper level classes are challenging, but he will do anything to help you to understand and is the most joyful person I've met. He makes me love math, that is for sure.
Dr. Saleski is a wonderful math professor. He explains the material well and is very helpful during office hours. He wants you to do well. He has a very lenient grading scale.
Professor Saleski is a wonderful teacher. You can tell that he loves teaching and always has a smile on his face. There are quizzes every Friday but contain only material from that week. He curves the quizzes and tests which is helpful. There is online homework but it's not difficult. Recommend highly, would take him again!
Doctor Saleski is an inspirationl individual who wants all his students to succeed. I spent three hours in his office doing a study guide problem by problem and he was more than happy to help.HE IS AMAZING. I love him and his joyfulness. Take him if you have the chance!
Favorite professor this semester at Loyola!! He is the sweetest guy ever and ALWAYS open to help. He has office hours literally everyday and is willing to accommodate your schedule. He got his undergrad at MIT and master's at Berkeley... He's a genius but is so humble about it. It's an easy A, so take his class if you can.
Prof. Saleski is a brilliant professor and excellent teacher. He wants every student to do well and will do anything to help them. I've learned so much in his class. He's also hilarious and says the most ridiculous things that you don't really catch unless you pay attention. All in all, amazing teacher. Take him, if you can!
Mr.Saleski is the man!!! He will do anything he can to help his students in a very humble and attentive way. He's hilarious in class and his hand woven sweaters are the cutest. Some of the material is a bit difficult without prior knowledge in algebra but otherwise he's one of the best at Loyola and his grading scale is awesome. Take the Salesk!!
Hes an amazing professor and he truly cares about you as a student. He makes hard topics quite easy. Here's the twist though getting an a in his class means that you actually learn the content. He doesn't just give you the a but he helps you obtain that grade.
Saleski is an amazing teacher. He is clear and organized in class and willing to go over things twice if necessary. Outside of class he is the most helpful Professor I have ever seen. If you have any problems just go to his office hours and he will set you straight. His tests are among the hardest I have ever taken. Luckily there's extra credit.
Lots of theory and proofs for linear, very difficult for a class that's 200 level, tests are fairly difficult but gives very generous partial credit. Expects a lot of work to be done outside of class, has weekly quizzes and does not require you to turn in homework. Wouldn't recommend taking if you need structured lectures and notes to learn.
Professor Saleski is amazing. He is a great teacher, very helpful, and reasonable about moving assignment due dates. He's approachable, and will answer any and all questions. Highly recommend.
Probably one of my favorite professors so far at Loyola. I took him during the summer and he was extremely cognizant that it was the summer and took it easy on us. Tough class and lots of material in a short time, but he made everything crystal clear. I wish I could take him for the remainder of my math classes. definitely recommend
You only learn the British way. Any time you want to ask a question about foiling u can't do it because there's no many mistakes. He mumbles and you can barely understand him. He doesn't ever answer questions that you actually asks, goes on a whole irralavent rampage on something you don't even know about.
Very confusing, was always unclear. The class was very disorganized, and I was never quite sure what was going on. He give insane amounts of homework (usually 50-60 problems). He usually puts problems on the homework that we have not learned, but will still mark you off for not doing them. Same thing applies for the tests. Take someone else.
Incredible is the only word I can think of to describe Dr. Saleski. He is always there to help you and he truly wants you to do well. If you have the opportunity to take one of his classes be sure to do it!
Dr. Saleski genuinely cares about his students and is very helpful. He seems to get nervous under pressure but nevertheless his teaching is amazing. Always accessible during office hours. He rewards points for attempting the problem. Honestly go to class every day and you're guaranteed an A. Also, participate!! I would take him again if I could.
He would often times assign problems out of the workbook that weren't even mentioned on the quizzes. Quizzes were based off of worksheets from an old time textbook. Although he could be confusing at times and hard to follow, if you try to focus and take notes you'll do fine. Go to tutoring, that's how i got an A, and actually show him you're trying
He's absent minded. Very Often messes up the example problems. Impossible to learn anything from his lectures, yet there's surprise quizzes and group work that makes attendance mandatory. Only take if you are willing to teach yourself everything. The EC is generous but I would go running away in the other direction. I would NEVER take him again.
Professor Saleski is the best! I have taken him twice, for Math 117 and MATH 118, and I will continue to look for his classes. He is extremely nice and he cares about how you are doing in the course. In addition, he is always available to meet with you and help you in any way he can. He is a generous grader and always explains concepts clearly.
Very absentminded and disorganized. He doesn't really answer your questions. He's all over the place when teaching a problem, so it's hard to learn. He puts problems on the exams that he's never taught. He thinks a D average on an exam is good. I wouldn't recommend for math 118. He's generous enough to curve our exams & drop our lowest quiz score
Best Math professor at LUC & in the world!
LISTEN TO ME. DONT TAKE HIM. HES CONFUSING AND ALL OVER THE PLACE. HIS TESTS ARE SO HARD AND GRADES UNFAIRLY. HIS TESTS CONTAIN THINGS WE DIDNT EVEN LEARN AND MADE UP STUFF.I DIDNT LEARN ANYTHING IN THIS CLASS DONT TAKE AVOIDDDDD. I DONT KNOW WHY HE HAS SUCH A HIGH RATING HE DOESNT DESERVE IT. YES IM USING ALL CAPS CAUSE I DONT WANT YALL TO fail.
Dr. Saleski is a really sweet guy. His lectures are pretty confusing and unintelligible, and I still feel like I don't have a super great grasp on the material, but I got an A so I don't care. His tests have extra credit opportunities everywhere so its easy to not know much but still do ok.
Ok. This is a professor who loves what he teaches and you can tell that he is passionate about math. If you don't have a basic understanding of algebra going in, I wouldn't recommend taking him because he can get a bit all over the place but overall I have found his class enjoyable and he curves EVERYTHING SO MUCH!!!!!
He is a very passionate professor, he's very knowledgable. In all honesty, he's an excellent professor. Everything he says in class only makes sense if you actually study prior. It is college you're supposed to study before class!! He's very helpful during office hours so make sure to go!
Best Professor Ever!! He helps you with any uncertainty and is always available if you need it!
He is one of the sweetest person I have ever met. He is so nice and SO helpful. Take him. He is so understanding and cares about you and that you pass and do well. TAKE HIM!!! So sweet. Just prepare to put in work like any class!
Do not take his class at all. Last semester I took him and he was just confusing as ever. He is horrible during office hours and doesnt explain things thoroughly. I advice you not to take him if you want to pass.
Taught Math 100 like students already knew material. Tests were much harder than anything else we did in class. Curves good amount, has more lenient grading scale, which makes the class doable. Not good a teaching the material.
Professor Alan is the worst math professor I have ever taken. His tests cover like 60% percent of what we actually talk though in class. The rest you have to figure it out on your own. The curves are good but he is definitely makes errors when he grades. I literally had a different math professor look through my exam for clarification. DO NOT TAKE!
Saleski is such a nice and understanding professor. He gives extra credit and very generous curves on his tests. He is a very helpful during his office hours if you take the time to go see him. Would definitely take him again.
Alan is a true gem and as long as you are willing to put in the work and ask questions, the class isn't awful. It is definitely not an easy A, but there is lots of extra credit and he curves most everything. Expect a good amount of homework but lenient deadlines. He is so kind and really cares about his students.
If you are not great at math and need it to be clearly taught to you then DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! He's a mess and you have to pretty much teach yourself. One positive is that he curves his tests but that still doesn't help when he barley teaches anything. He also likes to make smart comments to those who skip class or aren't doing good in his class.
Saleski is a great professor. He really cares about how you do and will help you anytime you want. You can go in all 5 days a week if you want. If you put in the effort for the class you will get an A. He curves everything. Hes super super kind as well.
Took his Calc course twice, after finding out that I picked the wrong school.
Dr. Saleski truly loves math and is basically a genius. He can be hard to follow at times, but he is in his office most of the time and is better at one on one teaching. There is extra credit on all the tests and most of the quizzes. The deadlines for assignments are very lenient, which makes his class manageable on a busy schedule.
Nicest professor I've ever had. Cannot stress how nice and caring he is. Very funny as well. However, class was hard. To pass the Class. I recommend understanding all webassign problems, and ones from his exercises. Drill each of em and ones from his quizzes, and tests. Nice guy but difficult class. Mathlabs and written HWs were annoying. great guy
Papa Saleski is the best professor I have ever had, and will ever have. Yes, his class is hard, but working for your grade is rewarding. He is super helpful in office hours. He cares for his students and he wants them to succeed. Take his class, you will not regret it.
Literally lectures for a few minutes and then gets students into groups. He makes a lot of mistakes in his lectures and does not give a clear explanation on topics. Avoid him while you can.
Mr. Saleski is a sweet professor and he cares a lot about his students but his teaching style is horrible. I took AP Calc in high school and did really well with that but compared to algebra, this class requires doing a lot of online homework. SI sessions are recommended and he also curves all quizzes/exams and offers extra credit (NOT attainable)
If you pay attention to the lecture and focus on what he is saying then this is not a hard class. He does not pay attention to students who are not paying attention and mostly collaborates with students who only pay attention to his lecture.
Online teaching is not his thing. Everything we did this semester was a mess, tests didn't make sense, homework doesn't do with the test. This isn't the way to learn math in my opinion.
The lectures were extremely confusing and hard to follow. It made the class way more difficult than it needed to be.
I think this class would have been better to take with someone else. It is really difficult to follow his lecture style and you have to do a lot of outside reading and work to even understand what is going on. He made the class more difficult than it needed to be.
He's the best for Linear Algebra it seems, but still pretty rough. Not the most engaging professor, and I had to write a short paper for a math class, so boo. I mostly looked up online resources to everything and the online homework, and doesn't keep up with grades on sakai. I've had worse, but he's not particularly great.
Avoid!!!!!! He teaches all over the place and is so confusing to follow. The math itself is not bad, but he does not teach it well and fails to discuss most of what will be on your test. You have group projects almost every day, and he does not explain it at all. Not to mention that there is chalk literally everywhere. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
He is a very quiet speaker and really only pays attention to those in the front. He also doesn't use the textbooks at all and pulls the questions we do in class from his head. We get work packets every class and he doesn't give out answers for it "because he doesnt know the answer." Nice guy though
He is a really nice teacher and helps you if you are struggling. At first I found his lectures to be confusing and did not understand them at all. Now, I can understand them pretty well. If you take him, write down every thing he mentions and review them. Also attend the SI sessions. Overall he's a good professor, but you need to work for yourgrade
Overall, a very nice person. In terms of lectures, though, scattered and occasionally confusing. Lots of group work even if confused. Participation is important, groups answer questions on the chalkboard. Grades homework easily, with EC. Tests curved A LOT, but I never thought they were too difficult. 2 papers for writing intensive, graded easily.
He's a caring guy and really nice if you talk to him at all. But during his lectures he talks really softly and only really interacts with the front row, he kinda mumbles to himself and I honestly found myself teaching most of the material to myself. VERY tough grader, don't even think about partial credit/points.
He's a very sweet guy, but he's not very good at teaching. He talks very softly and is hard to hear and is overall very disorganized. It's very hard to take good notes and he does not give very good examples in class. I ended up teaching most of the material myself.
Professor Saleski overall is not a bad professor. He mainly lectures and you have homework on WileyPlus every week. His tests are graded oddly, but if you talk to him, he usually understands. Tests and quizzes hold A LOT of points. You mostly teach yourself. Great guy, just not the best choice for a person who struggles with math courses.
Professor Saleski is good at explaining calculus concepts, but you need to do the work inside and outside of class to establish an understanding of the topics. The student instructor for this class was essential as he keeps the class moving. We don't always get through everything because people have questions about the HW at the beginning of class.
Often times its very hard to hear him. He provides the topics and makes you aware of the material on the weekly quizes and exams but will not teach you how to solve them. If you take him be sure to use youtube because it'll be the only way you learn. Do not expect to learn from his lectures. I do not recommend if you have no prior calc knowledge.
He is seriously such a kind person. As a teacher, he isn't the easiest to understand and doesn't so much as teach but more just does some stuff on the board. He might not be the best teacher but you can tell he genuinely cares about math and that his students are understanding it. Good SIs and definitely helped get me an A
He is a nice person but barely teaches the material in class. he puts you in groups and expects you to solve the answers and barely covers the lesson. there is a quiz every week
Dr. Saleski is very willing to help outside of class and is a kind professor, yet his in class lectures are off-topic. He often rambles or makes up problems on the board. I ended up teaching myself the majority of the course or learning it through office hours.
Professor Saleski is a great instructor. He prepares you to know what exactly will be on the tests and quizzes so as long as you follow those you'll be fine. He gives a large portion of your grade to homework which helps your grade significantly. I would take this class again.
I dropped this class because it was unbearable. He is extremely old, talks quietly, and is very disorganized. His lectures have no structure and he comes up with problems off the top of his head. He trails off w/o finishing problems or gets his own answers wrong most of the time. AVOID if you need a math prof who actually teaches well to learn
Professor Saleski is the sweetest guy ever, I have taken multiple classes with him. He genuinely cares about his students, he is always accessible outside of class, and holds office hours nearly every day. His lectures can be a little disorganized but he is clear about what you need to know for exams, which often have extra credit opportunities.
Dr. Saleski is a good person but an awful teacher. He talks very quietly and has bad handwriting to start. When he teaches, he rambles, comes up with random problems, and doesn't help you learn the material effectively. If you took Calc before you might be able to pass his class. Look for another professor unless you want to waste your time & fail.
If you haven't taken calc before, I don't recommend him. He doesn't explain very well and the tests are pretty hard. Everyone I knew in this class was confused most of the time. The things that got me through were the SI's and youtube videos.
He is a great guy and very intelligent, but his lessons don't help. I had to teach everything outside of class and still didn't get a good grade. Wouldn't recommend if you aren't a math person, but he is a really nice guy.
The absolute best. He gives an insane amount of support outside of class as well as a lot of resources to do well. The A is a 90 compare to other teachers who have an 93 as an A. He is an fair grader and takes a lot of time to review before exams. He is understanding considerate and accommodating. A very wholesome and pure hearted teacher.
He is such a caring professor and always has time for his students to teach them if they are confused. He gives a lot of extra credit, and if you put the effort to learn the material you will get a good grade! He is so fun to talk to and loves when the class is engaged. He loves connecting math to the real world too! BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!
This is the best professor I have ever had. A considerate person and a beautiful mind. I have already finished my studies, but if could go back I would take every class he offers. Then I would ask him if he could teach other classes he doesn't offer. You will never get another chance to have a teacher like Saleski.
He is a very kind person, and will try his best to make sure his students pass, however you will need to study on your own, lectures can be quite disorganized hence self-studying. Your grade is based on many things, but the bulk are HWs, tests, and the final, however the other aspects help to offset the main three. Never took calc before and passed
Pretty good professor. Nice pace for a math class.
Curved tests and final by a great amount, gives extra credit in exams. Consisted of weekly hws, 4 tests and a cumulative final.
Lectures were a bit messy and hard to follow at times. However, he really wants his students to succeed and if you are struggling office hours are helpful. I ended with a good grade because I am already familiar with calculus and knew most of the content but if this is your first time learning calculus look for another teacher first.
I LOVE PROFESSOR SALESKI!!! He truly wants his students to succeed and is very available outside of class and helpful one on one in office hours. He gives tons of partial credit on exams and is willing to work with you on anything related to course content in OH. I did not take calculus in high school, and I had no issue getting an A in this class.
I had no prior experience with calculus and I felt like this course was a great introduction. The material was very digestible and he was open to questions + had very long office hours. Did do some self teaching but it was manageable. VERY lenient grader and extremely generous with extra credit. Kind and listens to students. I could go on and on.
He is nice and funny but the material in general was pretty difficult. It's easy to get lost and confused when he teaches. The tests are like the study guides and he does curve them, homework is on Wiley and due weekly. He is a name-caller though if no one participates and participation is graded. Quiz at the end of every class but not graded.
He is very caring and you can tell he wants all his students to do well. But, he is a little older and it shows. Not the best professor to take if you do not normally do well in math or already have a background. As someone who took calc I did very well and found his tests and homework fairly easy. His lectures are slow and you dont learn much.
He is a nice guy but a bad teacher. Often gets side tracked and spent 90% of class going through the practice quiz and one problem, also spends 5% of class going through the actual unit and then next class will just move on to next one, he expects you to know everything without actually teaching. Don't think i'd get through without highschool calc.
He does not teach at all, you have to teach yourself, and he will yap about one problem the whole class and not finish covering the notes. His test are lowkey easy tho.
Professor Saleski is a caring instructor who truly wants students to succeed. The lectures can be disorganized, but office hours are super helpful. I found Unstuck ai a great study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, manageable class with a generous grader.
Professor Saleski is awesome! Yes, he does tend to ramble.. but I would say if you're having any trouble, his office hours are amazing. You can tell he cares a lot about his students, and wants them to pass! He will make time for you if you need help, and offers sooo much extra credit.
Although the professor seems a bit disconnected from the class, he is very welcoming to students who are struggling during office hours. Make sure to participate often and to complete the weekly discussion posts/ homework assignments, as they make up a good part of the grade. Prof. Saleski is very generous with his curves and extra credit.
Calculus is not an easy class. Prof. Saleski is def one of the very FEW professors that actually wants his students to pass, & is very understanding/accommodating. Ofc, studying outside of class & frequently attending office hours is required to fully grasp class content. If he sees you put in the effort you will be successful in this class!
Dr. Saleski means well, but he is really hard to learn from. Lectures are a bit unorganized, and he is constantly doing things on the board (with messy handwriting). He will not hesitate to make you do problems on the board, even if you don't know how to do them. SI's saved us. Tests curved roughly 20 points each, except the final.
If you have no experience in calculus, I would not suggest Dr. Saleski. He is incredibly kind however class is often spent going over proofs that have little relevance to the homework/exams. Learning the objectives is up to you through out of class assignments but he is almost always available to help. Classes are fun & he loves handing out candy!
Ungraded quizzes for attendance at the end of every class, will not hesitate to make you come up to the board to solve a problem (randomly). Hard to keep up with tbh. The material wasn't hard it self, but he kind of expects u to be familiar with it before
He is so sweet, and I loved his class, but you need to know calculus beforehand. A lot of his lecturing is really hard to follow if you are completely new to calc. But he is so willing to help, and Melissa (SI) is really patient and kind if you're struggling. Overall, take him IF you already have some background calc knowledge.
His lectures are hard to follow sometimes but he provides practice tests with everything you need to know for exams, so as long as you go to SI sessions, office hours, or teach yourself content your confused on you'll do well. He has a lot of office hours and gives great feedback.
Calc is a hard class, and this old MIT graduate teaches it way too complex and fast for anyone to understand. I got 112% in this class because I went to A TON of his office hours and never missed a class & he curves because the average exam scores are like 40%. If you cant put in the work, don't take him, but he's so nice & always has office hours!
He's very sweet, but unless you're already good at calc, don't take him. There are ungraded quizzes at the end of each class that take a lot of time and don't help much. He spends the next class reviewing them instead of teaching the lesson. Tests are really hard, go over 50 minutes, and his handwriting is tough to read. find a diff prof tbh
Professor Saleski is amazing as a person, but teaching style is old fashioned/frustrating. He is disorganized, insanely long study guides (no work shown). Makes you take mini quizzes after every class. If math is hard for you, DO NOT TAKE HIM- you will feel 10x dumber. He is also kinda mean and calls you out if you go to his office hours confused.
Bro is an okay prof. His lectures are confusing and hard to follow, so I taught myself most of the material outside of class. He also requires you to post to Piazza or you lose points, which was lowkey annoying. He is quite the yapper and fond of modular arithmetic and Gilbert Strang (iykyk). I've had worse math profs, but I wouldn't recommend him.
Definitely a hard class, but Saleski is a great prof. He grades nicely and is very helpful in office hours. The concepts are kind of hard to understand, but if you make an effort, you'll do well.
Saleski does not teach you properly. He may work for some students, but all he does is mumble -- you can barely hear him or read what he writes on the board. Taking notes is hard because he is very unclear, and his tests are nothing like the practice he gives you. I took AP calculus my senior year and he just made my understanding even worse.
Although a genuine, kind man, Prof. Saleski's class requires lots of individual studying and self teaching. He is willing to help in office hours, but the class itself tends to be quite unproductive, as many times, we end up going over the warmup longer than the actual lesson. Take him only if you are already strong in calc.
His lectures are often hard to understand and he tends to go off onto to different topics while explaining how to do a certain problem. You definitely have to study outside of class a lot, because he kinda expects you to know how to do a type of math problem when he is first teaching it. But he is super nice and is in his office a lot.
He's an amazing professor, very passionate about what he teaches, and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He gives us a cheat sheet for his exams and awards extra credit. Sometimes he can get lost in the lectures and wait a long time for students to respond, but as long as you're participating, he's always willing to help. Amazing office hours
Overall Saleski was a great professor! Often he can be a silly goofy guy, and he adds funny memes and raps/poems to his lectures. However, he does go on many side tangents which makes me dissociate in class. Additionally, though he can be confusing in class sometimes, his office hours are a really good resource to utilize.
Saleski is a really fun prof and you can tell he is very knowledgable. He does however tend to be unorganized and off topic during class which eats up a lot of time. He is very very helpful during office hours though, just ask him questions! Great teacher if you are a little familiar with calculus already.
He's an amazing person and it really reflects in his classes. He tries to make Real Analysis as easy as possible even though it's a difficult course. He's super helpful, encourages office hours and class discussions, and wants you to do well in his class. His lectures are a bit unorganized, but it doesn't take away from the course.
