Only take him if you like do a lot of homework for a sleeper course. he tries to make a easy course hard. there are 13 quizes, 2 papers, and wellness test for homework. he grades the papers on grammar and he's tough. if you want a easy weight trainning course do not take him.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. HE MAKES IT HAERDER THAN IT IS. I HAVE TAKEN NURSING CAUSES AND NEVER HAD A C.BUT I DID IN HIS CLASS BECAUSE HE EXPECTS YOU TO RUN AND EXERCISE LIKE A PRO. NOT VERY ACCOMODATING AND WILL NOT HASITATE TO FAIL YOU.I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOOSE SOME WEIGHT TAKING THE CLASS BUT HE GIVES YOU SO MUCH TO DO YOU LOOSE FOCUS.
he is ridiculous. i have always loved working out and he is making me dread it. he critiques EVERYTHING!! expects too much from students and way too much busy work. I think he forgot his class is only worth 1 credit..someone should probably remind him!
As others said he trys to make an easy class hard. Has way too many written tests for a golf class. Critiques too much when he is not even that good at golf. He gives a written midterm for golf and then when you get there he is like oh by the way it's open book -UNCLEAR. He grades on spelling because that's the only place he seems intelligent to me
I think that everyone who rated this professor is a slacker! KINE is an EASY course. Show up, do what you have to do, do your work and leave. He's not going to hand you a grade for showing up. He is extremely helpful in everything. I learned a lot from both courses I took with him. Great professor!
Makes an easy class hard. I wouldn't recommend him. I worked my ass off in class but since i missed like 5 days out of the whole semester he failed me.
Definitely will not pass you along freely; but does not expect too much as others have said. His papers are EXTREMELY easy to write and he is very helpful if you ask for it. I would retake him in a heartbeat and recommend him for those who are willing to attend class and do easy homework. Just take detailed notes and you'll be fine.
Definitly not an easy class. "I don't get many Christmas cards" as he said in the beginning of semester. I see why. He's a nice guy, but he pushes and pushes, and pushes, and pushes.
Coach Wright is the BEST! This is coming from someone who is overweight. I wouldn't have said that about him a month ago, but what he tells you is true and for your benefit! He's so helpful if you want it. One day I went to his office outside of his office hours hoping he was there and he talked to me for a good twenty minutes without hesitation. Even between the phone calls, he didn't kick me out and I really appreciated that. My outlook on exercise has really changed and its all because of him
Coach is strict which is good for lazy students. He can be unclear with his lessons but helpful overall. If you are easy go lucky type. Don't take him. If you want to learn and lose weight, he is the man!
One of the worst instructors you may find. I had a health issue, but I really wanted to take the class. I didn't drop, but he asked me to. I regret I took him.
He's an alright guy but he grades everything way too hard. I completed all of the work and showed up every day and barely managed to pass. If you're looking for an easy KINE credit, don't take this guy.
Great Professor!! He states the first day what he expects of you. Check the syllabus folks! As long as you show up, turn work in, and try your best you will love this class. Gives great advice. Not only did I see great results I learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of while in that class. It is also a very fun class if you let it be!
Alan is ok as a coach but terrible as a teacher. He forces you to purchase a new textbook & rip pages out to turn in. His syllabus is flawed & lacking info, he has awful communication skills via e-mail, & he won’t correct errors in grading even after admitting his mistakes. Only take his class if you aren’t taking other classes the same semester.
I come from a background in athletics & Kinesiology. Avoid this instructor at all costs!!! This is an example of a professor that may have a degree but clearly does not know his own course. The syllabus does not match his grading criteria nor does his instruction mirror any known standards. There is no fitness evaluation yet its part of grade.
Professor Wright is not a bad instructor at all for Kine, but some people expect it to be a walk in the park. One of the main aspects of the class is to physically improve by the end so it can be a little challenging to do so, but that's a good thing. Do your work, exercise, ask questions, and you pass with an A. Don't work out, you might fail.
Nonclear and confusing. Avoid this instructor at all costs!!! This is an example of a professor that may have a degree but clearly does not know his own course. The syllabus does not match his grading criteria nor does his instruction mirror any known standards. There is no fitness evaluation yet its part of grade. Report this rating
I warn you now, DO NOT TAKE this professor. A simple fitness class that i should have got an easy A in, but Coach Wright made it impossible. He does not know much about the course and just assigned exercises out of the book. Being an online class he could have done discussions or online video work outs. He wasted my time this semester!
These people were obviously did not care about their grade. Coach Wright is nothing like that. He describes in the syllabus exactly what he expects of you. He expects you to show up and do your work. He grades easy. You actually see results from the workouts. This guy knows what he is doing. He is a great professor.
I would look around if I were you. He is not clear at all about tests and despite having an "example" for written papers he grades way to hard for a KINE class. This is not ENGL Lit. He is a mediocre player that thinks he is better than that and it becomes clears when he tells you to do one thing and the PGA pro tells you to do the opposite.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS HYBRID - better yet - skip any and all classes with Alan Wright! He give no instruction, is very unapproachable and grades more on written assignments then true genuine sweat and effort!! You can out perform others in the fitness test and still score low! I'm very disappointed I took this class - worst experience ever!
You have 2 papers and 13 quizzes; the quizzes are online and you can finish them any time you want, just do them before finals week. The two papers are easy, just know how to write sentences and you will be good. Over all this class was easy. You have to show up for the workouts are you will not pass. Its a fitness class so working out is a must.
Description on assignment page differ from what is on the syllabus/ individual content page. If you mess up you are out of luck because he will not help you out at all. Quizzes are pretty easy and class is not too bad, but the essays are atrocious. One extra credit, but it is easy. Class is not only weights, very misleading. Cool person though.
Coach Wright's class is the best class you'll ever take. It's not hard if you just do what's required of you. (1) Show up to class (2) Do the assigned work BEFORE the due date. There is online coursework to do, 3 labs due one month apart. 2 essays (he grades tediously), 1 huge quiz, and a pre/post test. The textbook is online with access code.
Coach Wright is a good professor. You can pass if you show up and do the assignments that are online. There are 2 essays (tough grader), test online and a book activity from cengage. Finish them before the due date. DON'T wait till the last minute. During class you workout so bring your gym clothes. There's 1 extra credit opportunity you'll like.
DO NOT take a course with Alan Wright. His essays are pointless and unessary to the course and he is VERY unclear on assignments and due dates. The syllabus didn't even match criteria in the course. DO NOT Recommend
Great class! Show up and give your best and you will pass. There are two papers, both aren't hard. Tips: Check your grammar, follow the directions he gives for the papers. You work out every class, so always dress out. Great class to relieve stress and focus.
Coach Wright is not as bad as people say he is. Took him for the fall and the only difficult part of the class were the two essays that are fairly easy and he has no problem if you ask him questions over it during class. Be prepared to workout every class day because it is a big portion of your grade and the general idea behind the class itself.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. His grades mainly come from the papers he assigns which are long and absolutely pointless. He took off 25 points because of the font of the page number. I almost failed his class and ITS PE. In the post test you better have become a whole athlete or he will fail you if you didn't show significant improvement from the pre test
Took as an 8 week course for PE credit, had 18 short quizzes online and 2 physical tests. Quizzes are short and are word for word from websites he provides you. Physical tests are walking, planks, and push-ups and he wants to see improvement from first to last test. Do the exercise logs and you'll be fine but don't and your grade will suffer.
I thought I was taking a Physical education class not English. I turned in a paper with only very little mistakes and he gave me a 48 which made no sense. If I turned that into my English teachers they would have give me at least a B. He grades to hard for it being the class it is.
straight forward course, do your work and earn your grade
Class was 8 weeks since campus was closed to hurricane. a lot of work to do in short amount of time. he gave good feedback but a lot of work for one credit
A PE class should not be this hard. I wasnt expecting an easy A, but the essays and quizzes are ridiculous. Ive made better grades on essays in my English courses. I found multiple grading errors on my papers. As for the quizzes, the grading is extremely tedious and you cant even look back on them to see what exactly you missed. Do not take.
I never have worked out much til this class, cant believe results I got. Lost 10lbs, gained muscle, ran mile 2 min faster. He has a positive attitude, really challenges the way you think about yourself. Dont take if your lazy!
Learned a lot in this class. Good teacher and fun class.
Loved the workouts!
I never worked out before, cant believe the progress I made!
I took his weight lifting class for Phys Ed. This is a 1 credit hour class. During the 16 week fall semester he has 23 quizzes and 3 major papers that must be written of 4 plus pages in length. These must be MLA format. I recommend NOT taking his class. He is very personable however this is PE, Ive taken my English writing class already. :(
I enjoyed taking Coach Wright's class! You do have to do your part in class but he is very helpful throughout the workouts and homework assignments. I would definitely take his class again.
Coach Wright is AMAZING. He truly cares about his students. Yes, he does require you to do 2 papers (hello, youre in a college class) he is a tough grader, but he is great! I would def take him again if I could. You will grow as a person in his class.
The class requires way too much work. There were over 50 quizes and 2 essays. Very hard to contact or reach out to. Very tough grader. Very lazy, the quizes were taken from YouTube and the Internet. Would not recommend. The hardest class I have ever taken.
Coach Wright did a great job of moving our face to face class to online during COVID. He called each student to check on them & to let them know how class was going to change. He kept it as simple as possible and was very responsive to emails. He made some errors with the online but quickly corrected them when I told him about it.
At first I didn't think I could meet the goals of the course (especially the push ups) but have shocked myself, I have met these goals before the end of class.
I want to workout now! I plan on continuing these weekly workouts and make my diet better.
It was difficult to find time to workout at first. I noticed a significant improvement in my health, mood, and motivation. When gyms reopen after COVID I'm determined to continue working out.
being overweight and not working out for sometime i was less than enthusiastic to take this class especially online. Coach Wright reached out to me and multiple times to help encourage me, even when an old injury resurfaced. I learned a lot and showed good progress. he was flexible and caring.
This class has definitely been a great motivation. Seen major improvement The WOD's have been interesting and challenging. Learned a lot about my health history and diet habits, will definintely be making changes. Make sure to use MLA format on paper.
You do not want to take this class if you are not willing to work for it, but if you are willing, then this is for you. This class actually made me think about my fitness for the first time since the pandemic started and I am doing all the better for it. If you're not willing to actually work for it though, you are screwed.
