Alana has been a super chill prof this semester. She helped me make up late assignments and helped me outside of class and office hours. The textbook is free which is cool too. Class is mostly games and activities. Would take again if she taught more classes.

Prof. Vieira is amazing, so patient and considerate, and also incredibly easy to get along with! Definitely makes the course as simple, straightforward, and easy as possible (while still making sure you get great experience with public speaking, and actually improve!) Not overly strict or rigid at all, and grades very fairly.

COMM 1 (Public Speaking) with Professor Vieira was one of my favorite classes ever. She provides a great environment for a speech class and is overall extremely caring and understanding. Highly highly recommend this professor and would one million percent take again if given the chance to.

Alana is probably the best communications professor you can take at Sierra. There are 3 speeches, Goal, Informative, and Persuasive. Each of the speeches grows in a time limit, and she provides lots of time in between to prepare. She is extremely flexible with every assignment, and if you try at all this class should be no issue.

Easy class to take if you put in that work and complete the assignments on time. Few speeches required in the class but this should be expected since it is a public speaking class... Alana is a kind professor who cares about students. If you are shy, she will help you feel comfortable and practice before speeches. Her Canvas page was easy to understand, and the activities were fun and allowed me to not worry as much about speaking in front of the class. She has quizzes but if you do the readings you will be able to pass.

Loved the class and atmosphere and the teaching style really worked well for me and seems to have worked the same with everyone else in the class hearing what they had to say and how many of them showed up every class.

This Professor is amazing. I learned of her through one of my friends and I did not regret taking this class. It is very easy and she is very easy on the grading you can miss assignments without consequences but I do recommend still doing them and not last second. Workload is light, in class participation matters, and late work is accepted for almost all assignments. Speeches are graded fairly and expectations are clear. She will always give feedback and assistance as long as you ask.

Professor was p epic sauce A lot of the in class activities were engaging and made public speaking fun. The work required outside of class was minimal and she has a very generous late work policy, meaning there's always ways to make up work and improve your grade as long as you're willing to put in the effort.

The professor is awesome, very fun, and helpful whenever you ask questions. If you're looking for a chill class with a fun professor for a break, take this class.

The class was really fun and easy. You would usually do class activities most of the time where we present in front of class for a minute about a random topic. Other than that we would have the three major presentations which were okay to do. Overall it was a fun class and an easy going professor.

Class was very easy and a welcoming environment, we were all friends by the end of the semester.

The class activities are fun and easy to do. They were really helpful for getting use to speaking out in front of people. Also the main projects were the only worries within the class and so far the one we have done so far was decent. The teacher is also nice and very lenient with grading as long as your best is seen within your work.

I usually do not like public speaking but she made the class really energetic, fun, and took all the anxiety away from it. Professor was incredibly understanding and incredibly helpful in all aspects of the course. There are lectures, but they are easy to comprehend and well made. Never had as much fun in another class, its very rare that a teacher allows the insulting of a character for credit. Would absolutely take again.

This class was not only easy but also fun. Mondays are lectures, and you can get away with not coming to class. Wednesdays are in-class activities, and you get participation points. The only assignments you really have to do are speech outlines, peer and self reviews, and then 1 discussion board for each of your four speeches. No late policy.

It was such an easy, fun class that I actually looked forward to. I always felt supported and like I could easily talk to her if I ever needed to make up an assignment or ask questions. Grading was fully transparent with a super clear rubric that as long as you followed would get an A. She also did not care if you showed up to class late.

Every lecture is very high energy and very engaging helping me understand and get to really know my peers.

The class was pretty easy as long as you participate. She's very understanding and is available right after class to talk. All work's on canvas all semester. Didn't reply to my emails in the later half of the semester (presumably since she teaches at so many places and classes). You also have to record yourself often for speeches & their proposals.

She's caring, funny, and has an awesome energy. She's lenient with attendance and lateness. She also allows late work. Pretty easy class and quizzes which you can retake as many times as you need. The class environment was really fun and we would regularly talk with each other. She's also young, so she's more relatable.
