Alar is a fair and good math teacher. He seems very nice & does encourage class discussion/ participation. He often takes up math hmwrk. But rushes to teach chp need to clarify if going too fast. And sometimes he does hold back to see if u can figure out the answer. W/tests they can be hard ... comprehension is a must. Lenient marker!

To put it simply, Alar is a god among mere mortals. I spent the first 20 years of my life hopelessly confused when it came to math. Nothing made sense. Then, one day, out of the bowels of my melancholy skies in a burst of light; Alar came. With his approachable nature and seemingly permanent smile, he taught me math. A true saint.

Alar is such a nice guy. I had him twice. Once for Math and once for business. He is a great teacher. Very clear and timely and encourages you to work in groups and ask for help. He is fair and likes to have fun. You'll see a new comic or joke on the screen every time you come class. Great Guy. Take him.

He is an amazing Professor! Not very stuck up like other professors, he's very open minded, willing to listen and consider when confronted. He gives the best lectures! He's very clear, concise, interesting. He provides class with a lot of examples when teaching hence, you'll relate to the materials at hand, not only memorize the definitions.

His lectures are entertaining. Knows how to capture and retain the class' attention. Explains concepts in depth and very clearly. Gives mock tests the week prior to the actual exam, which help a lot with practice and offers ample of time to meet with students prior to lectures.

Alar is great at explaining the importance of what you are learning, its practical application, and giving you opportunities to ask questions.

Best proff by far. He knows what he's talking about and will always give the credit where due. Group projects every second class where you will get 910. Midterms are straight forward and so is he. Post and prints off powerpoints for class.

A born teacher. Show up to Alar's class and pass with flying colours. He gives constant feedback so students are aware of their progress. He is always helpful (almost angel-like) if you believe that type of stuff. George Brown College is extremely lucky to have such an extra ordinary professor.

He's such a great teacher, the person before me who said he's angel like is right! Always willing to help and makes sure everyone understands. He's also super cute, always talking about his family.

A lot of the time he basically tells you how to do questions on the tests, gives lots of test reviews and goes over them. Gives you free 10% with minute papers because he wants you to understand how to do them properly. Just attend class and he'll like you and will be willing to help you out.

Math is made too busy, he teaches and instantly gives you a stress free, class paper to practice so he makes math stick in your head so you wont have to study and be frustrated in solitude. He will make sure you understand if it takes him 10 times to explain to you. He is also very supportive on the test and neutralizes all your stress with math.

Alar was the best prof in all my time at GB, he makes math simple. By simply attending classes and writing the minute papers (2 questions per week that add up to a percentage of overall mark) you will for sure pass the class. He is the best professor I have taken. Math is not my strongest subject at all but he explains everything so clearly and gives weekly quizzes to which he gives you hints on how to solve it which really helps in your grades. He is also friendly and approachable.

Currently taking him for math 1, taking him again for math 2. Makes math so easy even if it's not your strongest area. Favourite class all semester. He makes this class enjoyable and easy-going. Need textbook if the in-class questions aren't enough. And bonus papers for easy boost in grade. Definitely take him any chance you get!!

One of the best professors in GBC. If you see Alar name as your potential math teacher, PLEASE TAKE HIM. I ended up with an A+ in the class, because of his teaching style. If you show up to ever class and follow along with his lectures, you shouldn't get less then 90% on ALL OF YOUR EXAMS. Practise the practise tests thoroughly. ALAR IS THE BEST!

If you have a good Math 1008 basis, you'll definitely have good classes with Alar. He is very kind and fun, but his explanations are very quick. For MATH 1095 course, just show up, bring your calculator to class, pay attention to the explanations that he gives on how to properly use the calculator, and you'll be fine.

His explanations and great sense of humour really connect with the students. He is a great human being who happens to be math professor. He values honesty and commitment to his class and, to be fair, it is not much to ask. To earn good grades, do not skip class and make his weekly assignments (to be handed out the same day of the class).

If you have any chance to take his course, don't miss it. But be aware that you should attend the class and study. Overall course work is kind of easy but I don't think you can get A without effort.

By far my favourite professor at GBC. Alar genuinely wants to see his students succeed and his level of enthusiasm shows that. I took both of his math courses and at the time was dealing with a lot of mental health issues. Alar took the time to meet with me and offer any assistance I needed. I can't say enough good things about him!!

I took this professor twice because he was the best at teaching and better than any other professor in math. As long as you attend the lectures, buy a business calculator or simply download it on your phone, do the minute paper, you will understand how easy the course is and pass.

The track record on here speaks for itself. I specifically took Alar because of his rating on here and honestly it was even better than expected. Its math, but he prepares you for the tests, doesn't throw curve balls, and let's you put in the work to get the grade that you want.

I had this professor and I willingly took him again the next semester, if you want a good grade literally the only thing you NEED to do is participate and study. He is very compassionate and is very human and relatable. Take him but if you do choose him as your prof be ready to pull your weight.
