Loved the texts assigned and love that he made an effort to bring people in to talk to us about option for jobs after graduation and some of the master's programs at our school.
Great personality, humorous, & makes his class interesting. His tests are difficult BUT he really wants you to do good so he'll offer extra credit! I wasn't stressed about this class at all during the semester. Easy going!
Class meets once a week and does one assignment at home( hybrid class). Only three exams, no final, few group assignments, video assignments (super easy). super funny professor, makes class interesting. You will never have a boring day in class.
He makes the lectures simple and easy to follow. Midterms are also not difficult.
Really enjoyed the flow of how class went! The jokes and lectures together really made me enjoy this class, would definitely take this class again if I could.
I really enjoyed Dr. Gonzalez's lectures, they are all well-thought of an you know that he really enjoys what he's teaching. He's even inspired me to actually check out different degrees under Anthropology. I've learned a lot from his class.
Makes the lectures engaging and fun. Gives out a lot of opportunities for extra credit to boost up your grade. Small assignments. Hybrid class.
He is an amazing professor. He keeps things interesting. He has lots of extra credit opportunities as well. If you don't like cussing though I wouldn't recommend his class.
Super funny, makes lectures really easy to follow along and enjoy.
Great professor, he makes anthropology super intersting and easy to understand. He doesnt allow any use of electronics so i couldnt take notes on my tablet but you get used to it. The textbooks are all online and free which is great. Lectures never felt slow.
Great professor. 3 exams are with 25% of the grade each. all contain 25 questions to be taken over 25 minutes. Reading is a must. He is clearly very good at what he does and wants his students to do well. There is at least one homework per week but it doesnt take very long to complete.
Professor Albert is an amazing teacher; he is very funny & his lectures are very informational making it easy to comprehend the material. There are a few small books to get in which i recommend to read them for the exams. i would definitely take this class again if i could!!
Hes a great teacher. If you show genuine interest in class you will pass with an A. But most people take it lightly because its not a hard class and end with a B or lower. Finish all you assignments, pay attention, and youll do good on the tests and pass with an A.
Albert is an amazing Professor that cares deeply about his class and students. His lectures are very worth going to because of how interesting the class is as well as his one of a kind personality. He gives you A LOT of extra credit opportunities which is good. I would say to make a study group to make your life easier. You wont regret taking it.
I would 100% recommend taking his class. He is super funny and makes his lectures interesting. Exams are taken at home and he gives lots of opportunities for Extra credit. TAKE HIS CLASS!!! you won't regret it.
He is very clear with assignments and understanding if you need to turn in late. Although attendance is mandatory, he offers many extra credit assignments. Make sure to keep up with the reading as well.
Albert is very exuberant in his lectures, and is very passionate about the subject. He is always willing to make time for you if you need help. His energy during class is very infectious. There are group projects, but they are fun and easy. The tests are a breeze if you follow his advice on note taking and book reading.
Teacher is very optimistic and passionate about his job. He goes out and ask feedback onto how to make his classes better. A great class to take even if it is not your major as he makes it fun and interesting. Lastly he states everything that gonna be on the exam basically so as long as you pay attention and show up to class you will get agoodgrade
He is a great professor that provides many opportunities to get your grade up and learn in class. His books are all free that you have to get and he is flexible with sport schedules. He also is hilarious and keeps lectures interesting.
His lectures are great and he knows how to keep your attention, I don't know why anyone would dislike him. The tests are always based on the lecture material and a couple questions from the book but even if you dont read youll be fine. Just show up for attendance its not hard hell make you laugh.
He is a good professor and he always makes class fun and interesting. His tests can be difficult but manageable if you read. He gives you links in order to read the textbooks for free and he has easy weekly assignments.
Professor Gonzalez is an exceptional professor who makes the course way more fun than expected. This course has been the most interesting thus far in my college career.
He keeps everyone engaged in the lectures with his sense of humor. There is never a day where I am bored of his class and actually look forward to going. There is a great balance between focusing on the material and keeping everyone loose. I was nervous for my first year in college but Dr. Gonzalez's class made everything less stressful.
Professor Albers keeps the class engaged by being clear and active around class. The class consist of video assignments and group assignments which are pretty simple. You will pass this if you turn in all assignments and show up. He's pretty humorous and very understanding if your work must be late with a valid excuse.
My professor gives excellent lecture that dispute common "facts". In fact, he includes aliens to show why you should evaluate carefully. Make you go to class, lest you won't get enough information from slides to pass the three exams. He gives extra credit, but you have to go to events and take a page of notes. His video assignments are interesting.
Sometimes he makes us laugh.
Albert was an amazing professor. I took this course just because I needed it as a requirement and I honestly thought it was gonna boring. However, since the first day of lecture Albert was able to connect with the class and was able to make lecture interesting. Just make sure to attend lectures because everything will be on the exams!!!
What a great professor! I wish i needed more anthro classes so I could take more with him. He's hilarious, he's kind, and you can tell he genuinely cares. He should be in conversation for professor of the year here at East Bay. If you can take him, don't miss your chance!
Best professor at east bay. Text book are partially needed for test but not for homework. Homework is very easy. Lectures are very easy to understand and he even highlights certain words and phrases to let you know that it will be on test.
He makes anthro so fun and easy to understand. Love him!
Hes more of acting like father but in someway, getting too good explore with research along with lecture itself.
He makes learning Anthropology very fun, very entertaining to be around especially during lectures, and answers emails quickly.
I loved how he made sure we had fun while going through the lectures and was attentive when we had questions before, during, and after class.
Professor Gonzalez made this class LIT! I would definitely take his class again. 10/10 would recommend. Also you won't fall asleep.
He was a great professor to have. His lectures were super useful so if you missed a day then it'll be difficult to keep up. Makes jokes here and there which are pretty funny. He is open to opinions and questions. Would definitely want to have him again.
Anth 120 was by far my favorite class I took this semester, I was always motivated to get the work done because Albert always made it incredibly interesting. He's hilarious and the lectures are super engaging, plus he's pretty easy to find outside of class because he's always on campus somewhere.
Professor Gonzalez gives great lectures! He explains information out in class using details. After class, if you are struggling he can answer questions 1 on 1. He also gives out plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Overall, he is a great professor and wants his students to learn and succeed more than anything.
Professor Gonzalez is a great professor! He really takes his time to help students understand the material. I highly recommend not skipping his classes because he lectures most of class time and the material is usually on the exams. Overall, great class and funny guy.
I took this class for my major, and now want to maybe change my concentration.
An amazing professor who truly cares about his students. Will give you so many opportunities to make sure you pass his class. He is very hilarious and class will truly never be boring
Amazing professor!!! He is very funny and I really got interested in archeology and even thinking in minoring in it! Always a good time and I always look forward to this class.
He is very caring and understanding when it comes to his students. I felt he really understood my needs as a student and made sure I understood he was on my side.
Dr. Gonzalez is an amazing professor. Really understanding and caring. You have to work for your grade. He is always available to asks questions. Class is very interesting.
Work amount is the usual and it's pretty easy to get done and get full points ... study for the exams or else you'll be stressin for the final !! other than that he is a great professor and is really passionate about what he teaches!
honestly all i can say is to TAKE HIM. he's one of the few teachers on this campus that actually cares about his students. he has positive energy 25/8. i even gave him my expo marker and he lost it heheheheheh. anyways he's very clear on assignments and if it's hard he will help you. i think every students needs an albert in their life.
Dr. Gonzales is a really understanding professor. His lectures are heavy and he can talk fast sometimes. He gives out a lot of extra credit assignments to help raise your grade. His exams can be hard, but they're open notes. You only have 25 minutes to answer 25 questions. He will curve the exams if not a lot of student did well on the exam.
Professor Gonzalez gives great lectures! He explains information in class using details. After class, if you are struggling he can answer questions 1 on 1. He also gives out plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Overall, he is a great professor and wants his students to learn and succeed more than anything.
I am a freshman at East Bay, ANTH 120 was one of the first classes I have taken. I am so glad that I got Albert as a professor. He makes everything interesting, between his quirky humor, to covering topics that just have humor within. This course was a lot of fun, and wasn't too difficult. I am going to miss not having Albert as a professor.
Pro. Gonzalez is dope! have took his class before and really liked how he taught. Pay attention in class and you'll do fine! He provides easy extra credit ! So take advantage of it!
Overall very engaging class with a couple of jokes scattered throughout the lecture. Exams are somewhat difficult so make sure to attend class and listen carefully. A couple of group projects that were interesting, not that hard. And a couple of reading assignments throughout the weeks.
Professor Gonzalez is an amazing professor, he's super funny and his classes are always fun. He gives extra credit which will help to get a better grade on the other side when it's about exams you have to study in order to get a good grade. I would highly recommend taking his class!!! :)
As a incoming first year I didn't know what to expect of this course and others, but this was one that I really enjoyed. I feel the Prof. Gonzalez has a great way of teaching and explaining things. He really taught me about a major and what it's all about that I didn't even know existed. He's really funny which allowed me to enjoy the class.
Pay attention while he lectures, says a lot that is not on the presentation so write everything down! Actually study for all the test. Overall great professor makes class enjoyable.
Great class and teacher, it's easy to pass and get at least a B if you stay in class. The only problem is they is a no electronic policy, so pretend it's the 1960's.
Show up to class, take great notes, study & you should be fine. He does his best to make class fun! He gives extra credit opportunity which you should take. He wants you to pass! As long as you go to class, do the assignments, even if don't do so good on the midterms and final, do the rest & you will pass. He is very understand, I'd take him again.
Dr. G is articulate and passionate about archaeology. Hes a total Dad and it shows in the jubilant way he encourage his students learning.
I took this course the fall of 2019, as a freshman I did not know what to expect I never really thought this course would interest me. But Albert made it worth the while, his lectures were very interesting, the homework assignments were a page of video notes, there was group assignments which are pretty easy, and the exams were timed just study.
He's really fun, and kept us engaged. He is really good at being entertaining while he lectures.
Professor Gonzalez is legit! He is the most funniest professor Ive EVER had. Super great lectures, easy to understand, hes awesome JUST TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!! Wish he could teach in the Psych department we need great professor like him.
One of the funniest and most genuine professors out. He definitely loves what he does. Super down to earth and material is pretty easy to grasp if you actually pay attention.
One of the best Teachers I had this semester. He really took the time to explain everything in his lectures. The homework is not difficult but is in connection with all of his lectures. Very funny guy and really brings a great energy into the room.
This class is the upper division Museum Studies course, so obviously you need to show up, work hard, and do your part. But Albert is and always will be a laid-back instructor who will help you with anything and everything you need help with.
His quizzes are easy to pass and he helps his students a lot with their work.
A truly passionate and fantastic professor. He is fully invested in the course work and his students. He is clearly a busy man who takes on a lot at this university but it never detracts from the amount of attention he gives to his lectures, assignments and individual students. If you can, you should take courses with Professor Gonzales.
The class was very practical and was enjoyable. That being said there is a lot of work involved as you are treated as a museum curator.
Albert is a great teacher! As long as you put in the work and follow the clear rubrics he gives out passing his classes are easy. If you're ever struggling it's easy to seek his help and he is always looking out for his students. Definitely recommend!
he helps me during his office hours and he approves the idea that we created in our exhibits
Great class.
A very honest and straight forward professor. He knows his content and his lectures are amazing and interesting to a point where you're watching it like you've gotten yourself into a youtube auto-play rabbit hole. If you pay attention, take notes, and make a quizlet based off your notes, you will pass the class. He's also a very interesting person!
This was an asynchronous class, he would upload a lecture video for the week, classworks due every Thursdays and quizzes on Fridays. He explains things pretty well in the videos and makes them entertaining to watch! He's very understanding and doesn't give heavy loads of work. The quizzes are to see if you are really watching the lecture videos.
Even though classes were moved online that didn't stop professor Gonzalez from staying organized and making sure that we understood his lectures and work. It's an easy class to understand and the professor is very helpful so If you need help don't hesitate to get help from him.
Prof Gonzalez is awesome, took his class during covid so it was online, Class consisted of watching lectures, taking "attendance quizzes" which reflect said lectures, a couple easy exams and some small tiny projects. Class is a breeze and you're 100% set if you study the lectures. Didn't read the books once, despite them being free, sorry Prof!
Honest and straightforward. His class is easy to understand and found the assignments and tests/quizzes to be a breeze. This class is an easy A if paying attention is no struggle for you. Easily my favorite course I took this semester.
The professor is enthusiastic about his lectures, but they seem to be a little heavy in my opinion. Students will be required to complete weekly assignment by Thursday and weekly quiz by Friday. Students will also be required to read textbook materials to do well in exam. There is extra credit but limited to 3 points.
Professor Gonzalez's communication skills through online lectures skills are impressive and kept me engaged! Watching lectures are a MUST but they are interesting, shouldn't be a problem. Weekly attendance quizzes, group projects, extra credit offered, and three exams. Exams are timed, 1 minute per each question. sounds tough but it's feasible!
The professor is very clear with his expectations of the students. Mainly weekly lectures, writing notes down is important especially KEYWORDS. Exams are straightforward and fairly short, really checks if you attended lectures/ did the readings. All books were found online free through the university library. The workload isn't bad at all.
Super great professor. Very laid back and chill. His class is super easy and his assignments are not too bad. Offers a LOT of extra credit opportunities. His lectures are very easy and simple to follow through. I was able to learn a lot from them. I definitely recommend Mr. Gonzalez!!
for being online it was very easy and the lecture videos were easy to understand.
This class was honestly one of the easiest I have taken. That doesn't mean you don't have to take notes though, it was only easy if you truly pay attention to his lectures. One of the best professors on campus!
Professor Gonzalez is a great teacher. Due to COVID it was all online(asynchronous). Make sure to watch his lectures (he's funny) because specific things he says will be on the quiz & exam so pay attention. Exams are straight forward if you studied and watched the lectures. There's group work but it's easy. Quizzes every friday. enjoyed the course!
The class was taken during the pandemic so it was kinda hard to get used to the lectures being recorded and uploaded into Youtube. The lectures were actually very interesting. Do not miss the lectures because there would be attendance quiz every week and the questions are based off the video and not the slides.
Make sure to watch all of the YouTube lecture videos. Take notes on the videos and the powerpoint slides. Quizzes every Friday and Group Projects occasionally. This class was all online (asynchronous) due to Covid-19. Take this class, very recommended.
I loved his videos and how organized he was. Super easy to pass if you look at the lectures and take good notes! You do need a book but you also won't fail without it. Small easy quizzes after the lecture, three exams, gives extra credit, and the homework is manageable. Take him :)
Dr. Gonzalez is the professor to take at CSUEB. He not only is one of the best professors there, he is compassionate and cares for his students as humans. He doesn't have unreasonable expectations and is always approachable. Take it from someone who was hesitant initially, I do not regret taking this class with him because I truly learned so much.
I wish I would've take Gonzalez's sooner. I wasn't to keen on taking it since I didn't know much about anthropology, but he made it super relatable and fun, especially it being online due to COVID. This class was not only informative, but it was an eye-opener into our lives as humans of this Earth. If you can take this class, DO IT!
By far the best professor at East Bay. Definitely, an easy A if you do the work and study. He gives students MANY opportunities for extra credit. He's very laid back and makes "dad jokes", he's also a big Star Wars fan! I recommend his class to anyone, even if you're not an anthropology major!
Professor Gonzalez is absolutely amazing, you will have fun taking this class don't take it lightly you will need to do the work to get an A but it is a fun class.
Professor Gonzalez is an awesome professor! He uploads lectures weekly - they don't take long to watch and are super easy to follow. He cracks dad jokes in his lectures which make it a little more enjoyable to watch & he provides many extra credit opportunities as well. This class was also very interesting. Take his class - you won't regret it!
Course schedule is very clear! He emails the weekly marching orders & the lectures shared through a playlist on Youtube. All you have to do is take notes on his lectures, do the group & video assignments, & do well on the 3-25ish minute exams. He gives links to the textbooks online. He's so passionate about what he teaches & makes ANTH interesting!
Easy class as long as you focus during the lectures and do the work. Weekly quizzes seem like a lot but if you actually watch the lectures theyre really easy. Group assignments arent bad - I HATE group assignments but I didnt mind these. Overall great professor, he even makes lectures interesting.
Although this class was an online class, I would definitely recommend taking this course. For online all you needed to do was watch the lecture videos take a short quiz on them and then do very little readings. Their were also 3 exams which were pretty easy as long as you watched and read the material. I would've loved to take this class in person
I would take this class again I say this because Its an easy A I say this because as long as you keep doing your work and attending the pre recorded lecture you will pass the class. Overall this professor is great and he make you feel that you are able to complete the work because is simple to follow.
I like the class is asynchronous because I do not have to stress the fact of cramming in time for a zoom meeting. The lectures are helpful, when it comes to studying I wish I knew what should I look in my textbook when studying specifically.
his class is really easy as long as you watch the lecture videos and take notes your for sure going to pass the class overall great class I actually enjoyed it :)
I like the changes in his syllabus despite the situations happening around us he manages to keep this class stable. Believe me he good a great teacher and I recommend it over the course of anthropology.
Offers many extra credit opportunities. Lectures are very straightforward, but must listen to them in order to pass as exams are based off of lectures.
Hands down one of the most caring professors ever. He really cares about his students and is very passionate about his work. His class is super easy and he gives you every chance to succeed with the amount of extra credit that is offered. If you're taking this class, I'd strongly recommend that you take Professor Gonzalez
(AB) This class gave me many opportunities to direct my career path. Take every opportunity you can to attend panels and extracurriculars. Work load was heavy but most of that pressure was internal. You need to be organized and creative to build the projects for this class- lots of feedback, but no handholding if you can't take initiative!
Considering it was a tough year for me, with pets passing away, plane flights, broken laptops and phones Professor Gonzalez was very understanding and helped me out so much because of him i did not fail the course, I learned alot in class the way he teaches is very clear, also you cant find anything on quizlet so it was a very engaging course .
Dr. Gonzalez is willinging to work with his students and he cares about each and every one of them. Unless you're a total jerk, you'll probably end up being friends with him. He does make you work a bit for the A but he has no problem with making sure you know EXACTLY what is expected and when. If East Bay doesn't tenure him, they're morons.
Great professor. Simple Homework to do which takes less an hour to do, quizzes are very quick and easy, and he is very supportive in what he is doing.
Prof. Gonzalez is the best! Do the work (weekly assignments and quiz) and take notes on the lectures and you'll get an A! He makes lectures as engaging as they can get with this topic. If you're on this site b/c you're unsure to enroll in his class, this is your sign to take him!
A really good teacher and he is pretty funny. He is straightforward with what he wants in terms of his homework and test. Test are timed and you can't go back on them, but it is honestly better because you don't overthink it. As long as you read the chapters and take notes on his lectures you will be in good hands! Would recommend him 100%.
Overall, I enjoyed this course due to the Professor's engaging recorded lectures and video assignments. His positive, funny personality makes the lectures (sometimes long) easy to watch. I'd say the most challenging parts of the course were the set time limit for exams and keeping up with the reading.
This is the best Professor I have EVER had. I've never enjoyed a class as much as his. Although we did not have zoom lectures, I always felt motivated to watch his recorded lectures and actually take notes. Do the work and you'll easily pass. His work is pretty straight forward and he's really flexible if you have an issue or something.
Really great teacher, give a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Good professor and caring
I took this course for credit and am so glad I did. He makes the class very interesting and teaches in way you can still feel engaged since it's still an online course.
Participation counts and there are weekly lectures and hw that requires you to read a lot. The hardest portion in this course is the final project that counts for 40 percent of your overall grade. Put in the work and you will pass!
There is a lot of group work and you will need to do a good amount of research on your part to submit label copy for the final class project. Overall he gives good feedback to help students succeed.
As anthropologist and a teacher, Mr. Gonzalez is well respected. He gives students the opportunity to redeem some missing points with a lot of extra credit opportunities. Aside from that he is really laid back, has a lot of jokes. Overall, he is a cool teacher to have.
This class is very much a project based, hands-on style. It might take some adjusting, but Professor Gonzalez is constantly communicating with you and giving you feedback. Participation is huge, but it pays off. You'll get seriously invested in your work and you have freedom to do so. Recommended!
It's an advanced class so there's consistently a lot of reading (and notetaking) to be prepared for but you know what to expect each week and he doesn't throw curveballs. This class made me remember why I love anthropology! Professor Gonzalez cares about his lectures and discussions are always meaningful.
Just do the work and you'll be fine. Great professor and engaging class.
This was an amazing class! I definitely learned a lot and was a great experience.
I can only think of a few professors in my entire education that really stand out in this way. Professor Gonzalez teaches you the material but he is not unapproachable, or pretentious. You can tell he loves the topic but it also feels like he loves to teach. I highly recommend his course- even if you don't know what the word anthropology means. :)
Albert was a wonderful professor, engaging with all of his students, and he provides plenty of opportunities for the students to pull their grades up, if necessary. The content is interesting and informative. It's worth taking for beginners into anthropology.
Albert Gonzalez is by far the best professor I've ever had! I take as many classes as I can with him and honestly I've learned so much about anthropology and more. He's really encouraging to his students and is always there for you. The class is a lot of busy work, especially if you have an in person exhibit. Do the work and you'll do well!
THIS CLASS WOULD HAVE BEEN AMAZING IN PERSON. Each of his lectures are engaging and the videos you watch always correlate to what assignment you do; so it doesn't feel like busy work. You can do this!
He really cares about his students and communicates with them at least weekly. If you ever need help, just talk to him and he will be more than happy to help you out. He wants you to succeed!
Professor Gonzalez wants to see you succeed in his class and he really cares. His material is super interesting and it's totally not overwhelming especially since he gives you extra credit opportunities!
Professor Gonzalez was amazing! I took his ANTH 100 course and although it was online his lectures were very engaging and fun. He is always an email away for any questions you may have. As long as you complete your work (video assingments & attedance quizzes) and study for exams you will do great!
The professor was nice and helpful. He gives a simple layout. The assignments are only worth about 1-2 points each but they add up and could be the different between a grade. However, no worries as there are plenty of opportunities to receive points. Such as a weekly quiz, 3 exams, and a couple video notes or groups assignments. Even extra credit.
Enjoyed listening to his lectures and having him as a professor!
Was an amazing class to take and shared many life stories that helped students understand the topics more clearly.
I really enjoyed taking this class, I gained a lot of knowledge from Professor Gonzalez. He offers many extra credit options, which is super helpful. He's straight-forward and organized with assignments, which makes it easy. If you study and do the work, which isn't much, then you'll be good. I highly recommend this class with Professor Gonzalez.
My favorite teacher to have so far while classes are online. His lectures are easy to understand and take notes on, which is the majority of work done for the class, a few documentaries, easy group assignments. The hardest part are the tests, as long as you take notes and watch lectures you'll be good. I really wish I had this class in person.
Professor Gonzalez is an amazing professor. He is very organized with his lectures and assignments that he assigns the class. Lectures are very straight forward and easy to understand. Must attend lectures to understand the material. I am not an Anthropology major but this class was very interesting and he is also very funny during his lectures.
Great class, clear grading criteria. Reading arent required but in order to do well on exams its best to open up that book! Prof G is pretty dope, wish I took the class in person.
professor g is really understanding and cool, definitely would've wanted to take the course in person with him
I loved this class! Everything was very organized and well though out! The lecture videos are the moat important thing in this class as you will need to watch them and do some reading to be able to take the tests and understand the concept of the teaching in the course.
Professor G is the most chill professor I've had here at East Bay. Lectures are pretty entertaining, and although the class isn't required to buy a textbook (as he always provides free, accessible materials), the "attendance quizzes" are based on the info presented in the lectures. He also offers lots of EC! Would take another course taught by him!
I definitely recommend everyone to take this class even if you're major isn't anthropology. By far one of the best professors I've had. He makes learning fun, his lectures were never boring. He is very understanding and gives multiple opportunities to earn extra credit. His dad jokes are everything lol
Keep up with lectures and you'll do great! Professor's lecture videos are very organized, interesting and easy to understand.
High recommended ... Fun class to take
Overall great teacher and a wonderful class. I learned a lot and highly recommend taking a class with Dr. Gonzalez.
Albert is hands down one of the best most inspiring professors I have gotten the chance to have at East Bay. He really cares about what he puts out in the world and how his students are learning. He makes the class feel and be fun. The class does require a heavy amount of reading but all the material is worth the read and very interesting.
Although, it being online due to COVID-19, I enjoyed this course and the connections I was able to make with others in the class. You will have a group project but will be graded individually. The project is fun to do if you are passionate about museums studies/anthropology/CRM. You are able to network a lot in this course so take advantage of it.
Professor is respect other however, the exam is heavy.
I really liked his enthusiasm through his teaching. I can tell that he loves what he does and I grew to like the class.
I took Professor Gonzalez this last semester during COVID, and he was amazing. He is super chill and funny. His weekly assignments and quizzes are straightforward. I highly recommend his class. And if you are looking for an EASY A, his class is the one!
Honestly, this class is a lot of reading and a LOT of notes, but it creates the strongest foundation if you want to go into grad school. Albert is the most encouraging professor too. The class is fully worth it.
Was really happy with the way this class went. Was skeptical going into it because I had not taken any Anthro classes before, but Prof. Gonzalez was a very informative teacher especially with the online aspect. He really shined in the pre recorded lectures and covered everything that was needed! 10/10 would take again.
Good lectures in Zoom classes with engaging group exercises that will help will with your label copy assignments throughout the semester. Attendance and group work is mandatory, you have to show up for class or you wont pass. They do offer extra credit opportunities for students and overall bring a happy and positive energy to the class
Great professor that is very understanding. Tests are not that hard if you took notes during the recorded lectures.
Overall great professor who is really determined with bringing home the material readings to the student. Always wants to hear input and have conversation about the readings. He cares about what he teaches and the students he is teaching to.
Good guy he's super nice gives extra credit opportunity if you try you should be able to pass
Professor Gonzalez is one of the funniest professors I have ever had. I would seriously laugh like a manic while watching the recorded lectures. He made the class very entertaining and I learned a lot about anthropology. There are weekly quizzes based on the lectures. And the exams are based on the lectures and readings. Also extra credit available
At first the work seemed like a lot but then it became easier, Professor Albert likes to intimidate his students by saying his exams are super hard and that you need to study really good for them but as a A-B-Cish student they weren't tHaT hard. As long as you do the weekly quizzes (short) and read the pdfs and slides the way HE recommends ur g!
Professor Albert is of those few professors who are surprisingly funny & passionate about the material. Some might find the exams hard but the fact that he makes his slides, lectures & yt videos interesting really helps you retain the info. Unlike others, his slides arent crammed with excessive info + the multiple # of images help them stay intere-
Not gonna lie I though this class was going to be hard and dull, but Professor Gonzalez made it worthwhile. He's passionate about what he teaches and it shows. I was happy to learn all the knowledge he gave us. Just remember to keep up with all the quizzes, lectures, and assignments given and you'll be fine for the exams.
Excellent professor and class, make sure to follow the syllabus to a T and you should do great and actually learn a lot about Anthropology.
Funny and engaging lectures despite them being online. If you have him in person try to practice a perfect circle before hand it will come in use one day ;)
Make sure to follow the syllabus and do your readings and you will be fine! He makes it easy to understand with examples and he's also very funny.
I took professor Gonzalez's course asynchronously and it was a great course. As long as you follow the dates on the syllabus and turn on your blackboard and gmail notifications you shall be fine.
Overall I learned a lot and enjoyed being in this class.
Video assignments were easy. Group projects were easy too. Quizzes were based on lecture videos. Must watch videos if you want a good grade. Or else not that much work. Also a lot of extra credit opportunities.
This has been one of the best classes Ive took in college. He's one of the best teachers. He gives clear instructions of what is expected of you, work load nothing crazy, three exams, provides the reading material, caring and understanding if you have personal issues going on. The Lectures great information and hes hilarious. Would recommend!!!!
Dr Gonzalez is a great professor! His lectures are organized, informational and entertaining. I did not know anything about ANTH before the course but have learned so much! The quizzes are straight forward, the group assignments were a great way to interact with other students and the exams are based on the lectures.
A great teacher is very easy going and easy to talk to. He really bring his lectures to life and makes them entertaining. Has lots of passion for his work and is overall a great professor.
Dr. Gonzalez was an amazing professor to have! I had never taken an anthropology course before and fully expected dry lectures and heavy handed research projects. Instead, the lectures were dynamic and entertaining and the assignments were very interesting. The only difficult part was coordinating the group projects but we tried our best!
Such a great class! His lectures are very clear and engaging. Just pay attention and all the test material will be easy. Would really recommend!
Overall a very good professor, you have to watch the lectures to do well on tests but otherwise, all assignments were fairly easy and straightforward and he gives plenty of extra credit :)
BY far my favorite teacher at east bay. Although, we never really talked person to person his lectures are really amazing and make it feel like the lecture is actually live. He tries to connect with us as much as he can, making his lectures fun and easy to understand. Would definitely retake his class.
Professor Gonzalez was an amazing professor, his lectures are pretty interesting and he makes it clear about what you need to know for the exams. There are extra credit opportunities which is nice if needed. There are like 3 group projects but they are super simple and easy. A weekly quiz and a few video assignments. Overall, I'd recommend. 10/10
Take this class. You won't regret it!
One of the best Professors I've had during college. He makes his lectures very easy to understand and gives you a lot of opportunities for extra credit if you ever need some. he's also laid and If you do all the work, you'll pass with a good grade. I would recommend taking this class 100% even if your major is not related to anthropology.
Is a great professor!
I took this class because I need to. I though I was going to hate it. I LOVE it. Professor Gonzalez is very fun and his lectures are actually very interesting. He is very fair and lets you know EXACTLY what to expect. I would take an other class with him again! By far one of the best classes I have taken in this university.
Great professor and loved the class
Easy pass if you watch the lectures and do the weekly assignment and quizzes.
Excellent professor that will get you really into anthropology. Lectures are relatable and very informational.
Professor Gonzalez was such a fun professor to have. I am currently taking him in Fall 2021 and only have one week left. He definitely made studying anthropology so much fun. I admit, I took this class for credit but I enjoyed the lessons so much. About the workload, there are two assignments per week, one quiz and one homework. Very easy!
Really well organized online curse. His lectures ensure youre ready for the mandatory attendance quizzes weekly. His lectures arent boring and the material is straight forward. I enjoyed taking this course a lot.
I loved this class! Professor Gonzalez's lectures make the content really clear and the group assignments get you to understand the material hands on. He's super cool and I would def take this class again!
Professor Gonzalez was very transparent throughout the class and really has a passion for what he teaches.
Overall, this professor did a good job on making this class very interesting but it was a bit hard with the test.
One of the best online classes! He is super nice and offers many extra credit opportunities. His lectures are entertaining and informative, doesn't overwhelm you with too much work. A great class over all!
Took this class for a credit requirement and found it to be very easy. From the start expectations are clear He gave multiple chances for extra credit quizzes and tests were not difficult if you studied of course and its not a study that you need to have 7-8 hours you know light studying flashcards memorizing key terms and you should be fine
Pretty good prof. I had fun in this class and didn't think I would like it at first. Some things that were talked about, I had no interest in but the more those things were talked about, the more interested I was.
Professor Gonzalez is an amazing professor who really opened my eyes to how interesting anthropology is to the point that I am seriously considering adding it as my minor! I can honestly say that he wants his students to not only learn about the subject but actually enjoy the process of learning.
I can tell the professor doesn't want to spend any time managing the course. Course material comes out in the middle of the week and is due by the weekend, not cool! If you have ANY questions, you cannot contact him directly. You can only contact his student assistant. Why do I have to go through another person just to ask my prof a question?
If you have ANY questions, you cannot contact him directly. You can only contact his student assistant. Why do I have to go through another person just to ask my prof a question? Also, course material sometimes comes out in the middle of the week, yet it will be due by the weekend. Worst communication I've ever had with a prof
Most entertaining professor you will legitimately ever have, but prepare for a lot of structural changes throughout the semester. Pretty understanding just requires you to put in effort!
Professor Gonzalez is always organized and easy to understand in lecture. The weekly assignments are definitely ways to help us grow as anthropologists. I wish there were more professors like him in teaching anthropology; he always finds ways to keep us engaged. The past few years taking multiple courses with Professor Gonzales was well worth it.
Prof. Gonzalez is s super fun, passionate instructor who makes his students share his passion for the subject matter of his class via his teaching methods. He's always super attentive to student contact outside of class time, and is always attentive to student suggestions. He does however make changes to his syllabus, but he's always transparent.
Professor Gonzalez is an incredibly knowledgeable and down to earth professor. His lectures are always well organized and interesting and he presents them with such enthusiasm that it will help wake you up in the morning and/or brighten your day. *Incredibly helpful *Highly recommend *You will learn a lot *Fun
Great prof real fun class to take
Professor is very fun ! Just make sure to jot down notes for everything he says!
One of the only professors that I find joy, to come to class. One of the only professors that makes you feel welcomed in class, but also if you are looking for an amazing class to take, take his course!
An engaging professor that doesn't waste time and genuinely wants others to learn about what he's passionate about. The quote "People love what other people are passionate about" from LaLaLand definitely applies here; you garner appreciation for topics and history you were most likely not aware of.
Great professor. Tells you exactly what to expect from the start. Very clear lectures. Pay attention to the lectures to succeed and take notes. Very passionate about the subject he teachers. 10/10 would recommend.
Lectures that stay within the scope of the class unlike other professors that go off on tangents. Fun to listen to, lots of jokes but still very informative lectures.
Straightforward with requirements, easy to work with, enjoyable class.
easy class, great professor. Just do the work that there is not much of
He's amazing and overall a great teacher at CSUEB
He's cool and hilarious. His lectures are really easy to follow and his test questions come directly from the slide notes and the lectures so make sure to come to class as many times as you possibly can.
Ask questions in his class, he has like the first 15 minutes dedicated to Q&A. If you need clarification on a lecture or article ask during Q&A or after class.
Professor Gonzalez is not only a great professor and instructor when it comes to the lectures, his humor and personality makes the class fun and lightens up the mood.
This class was super fun to take and I really enjoyed hearing all the lectures he presented in class which were really interesting! 100% will take again!
Really interesting lectures
This is my second class with professor Gonzalez, and the first one in-person. His lectures are really fun and he always finds a way to keep you engaged with the material. Get ready to take handwritten notes! If you need to knock out your GE classes, I definitely recommend Anthro with Professor Gonzalez.
Gonzales teaches in this extroverted way that lightens the mood of the whole class. There is no reasonable explanation if you fail because the homework is easy and tests are as well if you take notes. If you don't like this class you must be be either the most "bah humbug!" Person ever or someone who just loves playing devils advocate.
This professor is really ahead of his time. The material he teaches lets us know that he is very passionate of his research. Take the opportunity to have one on one conversation because he does not only offer corse work material advice but also outside and inside college advice. A great outstanding fun archeology professor.
I really enjoy this class. It consists of 3 exams and a couple readings. Just attend lecture and study for test, you will for sure pass!
Professor Gonzalez is one of the best teachers I've had in college. He is very funny and easy going but dedicated and passionate about archaeology and you can really tell throughout the class. The work load is light and very doable, as long as you pay attention in class and study for exams, you'll do great.
do not hesitate to take a class with prof Gonzalez. lectures are entertaining and engaging and assigned projects are often preparing students for a career in the field and/or provide great networking opportunities. attendance is mandatory, but you will not want to miss a class! assignments are easy just lots of reading.
Great class. He cares for his students. He makes it entertaining and he is very approachable. I once had a bad day and he sat down and gave me suggestions on another class and professor. He makes it fun but it is a serious class.
He was always there to help us whenever we encountered some difficulties during our assignments and during our group projects.
Course was fun! Enjoyed the course!
Dr. Gonzalez is a hilarious professor with entertaining yet interesting lectures. He is always willing to provide feedback granted he is available to do so. This class was fairly easy but dependent on your attendance.
Professor really tries to be flexible with students and deadlines if necessary. He can occasionally be distracted and/or not be as helpful as you'd like but tries to give answers or sends you to someone else who could be more helpful.
Professor Gonzalez' classes are always engaging. Sometimes the work is tedious, but never unmanagebale. He's always happy to help outside of class as well.
Do not hesitate to take a class with prof. Gonzalez! He is very knowledgeable and will gladly help his students with the material. Classes are hands-on and provide you with skills that are beneficial in the anthropological career path. If you're serious about anthro, take any or all courses that Prof Gonzalez offers.
Great professor, The class is fairly easy if you just do the work that is asked of you. He is very funny, which makes his lectures very easy to sit through, although this class doesn't have many. over all great professor, would highly recommend taking a class with him.
Great instructor. As long as you attend and participate and turn in your assignments, you'll be fine. He's super accessible and would be more than willing to help you grow. Don't let the course intimidate you, just take it!
Dr. Gonzalez gives great animated lectures. I never once felt bored with the material. His class is a safe space for BIPOC LGBTQ+ students. I feel closer to reaching my career goals because of his advice and the course material. Grateful to have had a professor like him.
This professor has been one of the most patient and understanding professors I've had at this entire time at this college. From when I first was in his intro to archeology to now in his museum class. This class may have been a pretty advanced one, but hey, just so you guys can get a good idea, what I'm getting at is that I'm in my second year.
Professor Gonzalez knows what he's talking about when it comes to Archaeology. This was a museum class and if you're looking for hands-on experience that is creative, this class is for you. Professor Gonzalez can be attentive if you catch him at a good time, but he is often a little difficult to reach through email and in person.
Very easy class just take notes
The testing is timed for a minute per question. I performed poorly on a number of tests because this made me feel panic and rushed through
Really funny and keeps lectures interesting
Professor Gonzalez is very funny and very understanding towards his students. Make sure that you always come to class because the class focuses very heavily on the lecture material. This was not really a bad thing though.
Professor is usually funny which makes this class less boring and more engaging. The class lectures are usually easy to follow along and the assignments are very easy to complete. There are also multiple opportunities to get extra credit.
gives students more time to finish an assignment if needed without deducting points
Professor Gonzalez has the most amazing and interesting (and hilarious) lectures that are memorable and will probably stick with me for the rest of my life just based on how well of a speaker he is. You can definitely tell that he cares about the content he teaches and wants it to stick with his students as well. Attendance is mandatory!!!
Good teacher quizzes are easy and directly off the slides. Big thing is no electronics at all so no phones laptops ipads ect. Taking notes is purely on paper but overall interesting lectures and easy to grasp information
If you plan on taking Professor Gonzalez's course, note that quizzes are manageable if you study the slides thoroughly and take detailed notes for exam preparation. No electronic devices are allowed and attendance is mandatory. Professor Gonzalez is a passionate and engaging speaker who makes his lectures memorable and humorous. :)
Professor Gonzalez brings a lot of enthusiasm and hands-on experiences to his ANTH377 class. While the workload can be a bit heavy at times, he is always willing to provide extra support to help students succeed. If you're interested in anthropology, this is a great class to take.
Professor Gonzalez knows his stuff and makes this museum class engaging. The work can be tedious, but he's always willing to help. I found unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook super useful for staying on top of things.
Really funny, will have lots of fun in this class. Make sure you attend all classes so you don't miss anything. Take advantage of all the extra credit opportunities!!
F'N amazing professor.
Great teacher, but I dose get challenging but he dose appeal to the students. -Esteban Magana
Professor Gonzalez comes to class on time, everyday with a smile on his face. Its easy to stay on top in his class and the readings are not hard. He constantly gives extra credit options and the ability to turn in late work. Attendance is necessary and much of the material is lectures and readings.
Good energy. Fun lectures. Great project for learning
Great online class. Well organized
I had a great time in his class, almost made me want to switch my major again so I could take more of his classes.
His teaching style was a bit different than other professors. It was very simplistic and straight to the point which is what made this class better. I really recommend you take this class. Just give it a try
Just know to not bring noisy, crunchy wrappers if you want a quick snack in class. He allows you to eat, but he mainly accepts silent foods.
Prof. G is a wonderful, down-to-earth, energetic, and easily-approachable teacher. He communicates earnestly and clearly outlines his expectations for students and his classroom environment (no electronics except for laptops and only when told to bring them, SHOCKING, I know). Honestly, its minimal work & an enjoyable class, just take it!
Albert is a super fun prof. Jokes around a lot but knows the subject like the back of his hand. Appreciates student engagement and people sharing their thoughts. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Office hours are helpful, career advice if you wanna go into arch. He's very engaging and his lectures are entertaining while insightful.
Amazing class I took even as a computer science major. Easy to understand class, and makes me enthusiastic to come to class even if its at 9.30 AM.
Professor Gonzalez is an amzaing teacher who brings the energy to class; almost every morning, there is music to start the day. The homework load isn't bad, and the exams are based on the material covered in class. Super chill
Professor Gonzales makes his classroom fun and makes everyone eager to learn! He gives lectures, but they always have interesting stories that keep everyone engaged. He also always brings snacks!
Pretty chill professor, knows a lot and will teach. Would take again
Class has a sign-in sheet, weekly readings and short online quizzes, multiple-choice final exam, and research paper. Professor Gonzalez is approachable, passionate about the material, and quickly responds to feedback/emails. Lectures are easy to follow and helpful. Would definitely take him again!
Really good professor. You should take his class you gonna love it even if it's not your major. Easy A class. Not difficult at all.
Archaeology was not necessarily my favorite subject but Mr. Gonzalez's lectures are very entertaining and engaging. If you need a course for credit, definitely take his classes.
This is a lecture-heavy class, so be prepared to bring your listening ears. However, he lets you know what is important to write down for future quizzes and tests. He also gives you all the reading material you need for his class free or at a low cost, which has been a big help for me this semester.
Professor is real cool and jokes a lot. He's a chill professor and his class wasn't difficult at all. Just show up and do the readings and assignments and you'll be fine. Attendance is mandatory so make sure you show up.
Professor Gonzalez's lectures are really engaging and easy to follow, straight to the point. But, Professor Gonzalez is also very caring and understanding overall great!
Very nice and funny teacher. His assignments are simple and not that complicated. Just show up and do the bare minimum and you will pass.
He's great! Lectures are great! Be prepared to write notes because there are no electronics allowed in lecture. Attendance is mandatory. Assignments were readings with a quiz. Final project is hard and time consuming! Few extra credit given.
He is a great teacher! He's nice funny and he teaches the class with his characteristics makes it a class you look forward to attending.
Great guy. Just take his class. He knows his stuff and even though you're not allowed to use devices in his class, time flies by because he WILL get you engaged. He gives extra credit opportunities and the workload is not crazy. I'm a STEM major but his class got me wanting to take more anthropology classes.
Prof Gonzalez is awesome! His lectures are entertaining and full of knowledge from his profession as an archaeologist. I would absolutely take another class of his again and would recommend him to other students.
Prof Gonzalez is a very entertaining and engaging lecturer; no matter the topic for the day I'm always hooked and listening intently. My course, Anth 320, is relatively easy so long as you pay attention in class and do the assigned readings for quizzes. Given that, participation is important, so plan on showing up to all of the classes.
He is a pretty chill teacher with reasonable and clear expectations. He cares about the material and makes the lectures interesting. There is a lot of extra talking in the lectures that are not always about the material, but the lectures are still pretty straight forward and easy to follow.
Whenever we have a question, he is ready to answer us and always willing to help us better understand the material that we learn about.
Professor Gonzales is a very laid back teacher who presents the course work he wants his students to learn very well. He emphasizes what you need to know in his lectures for the exams and the ideal ways to study for them. Assignments were easy, he also offers a lot of extra credit. I genuinely enjoyed his class.
Class was super easy! Only had to take 3 exams (mainly multiple choice) throughout the whole semester, and an occasional homework (e.g. reading assignments) for some weeks. His lectures are fun and interesting. Just wished the class was timed differently because I noticed some students (guilty!) get sleepy because its right after lunchtime.
He's a chill and easy professor, can talk a lot at the start of class before getting to the actual lectures though. Has interesting stories to tell though, he's very real and funny. There is note taking during the lectures but he posts them online for you to look at later too.
Very passionate about his class, making the learning environment more entertaining.
Most of the questions for his test and quizzes are on the lecture slides (at most 10~ slides) he presents during lecture days. He is easily accessible and accommodating towards your needs so don't be afraid to reach out to him!
- no technology - long lecture - chill - easy
Lecture is heavy material. Many reading quizzes every other week. Overall, sweet caring professer. No electronics allowed.
One of the best professor I've ever had. Never had a boring lecture and always enjoyed the class. You learn a lot in this class but
Most of the questions if not all from his tests and quizzes are in the lecture slides (at most 10~ slides per lesson) he teaches during lecture days. Really chill professor and would take him again!
Very chill and relaxed professor. Is very energetic and enthusiastic during class. Is very fair and transparent about his method of teaching. Will never have a boring lecture if you attend class.
Easy hw assignments and many extra credit opportunities. Tests are harder since you get about a minute for each question (25 total), but he gives you a couple days to take it incase you need to review more. Attendance is mandatory, but somtimes he forgets to pass sheet.
Amazing and very passionate, Professor Gonzalez has a lot of character and likes to crack a lot of jokes, but don't let that fool you, he's an awesome teacher and is very easy to listen along to. The homework and exams aren't that tough, if you attend class, and overall a very good class experience.
Excellent professor, he is extremely passionate about anthropology. Overall, the class is pretty fun. It's mostly lecture-focused and the quizes are a but difficult since he asks questions related to lecture that are not on the slides (just make sure to listen and attend classes).
Professor Gonzalez makes learning so fun and interesting! The way he gives his lectures is very engaging that you do not even feel time pass by! You can tell that he absolutely loves what he does and he transmits that love of anthropology to you even if its not what you are majoring in!
Great professor! His lectures are very funny and interesting! He is always saying something to get your attention and his slideshows are funny as well as interesting! I looked forward to going to his class each week! Shares a lot of funny stories during class that makes the time fly! He care a lot about what he is teaching and very knowledgeable.
One of the best classes I've taken at EB! Professor Gonzalez, is genuinely one of the most engaging and down-to-earth professors I've had. His lectures are super informative but never boring. You will learn a lot without feeling overwhelmed. You can tell he cares about what he teaches and wants students to succeed.
He clearly cares about the ethical pursuit of knowledge. He is engaging and knowledgeable in his topic of study but the course left me looking for something more. Assignments are short, just quizzes and tests which is cool but be prepared - little time is offered for tests. Provided readings were interesting and often lead to other quality sources.
Professor Albert Gonzalez is an absolutely rad and incredible teacher to have. He explains everything clearly, keeps the class engaging, and actually makes learning fun. His teaching style is laid-back but still super effective, and he always makes sure students understand the material before moving on.
Participation class , can be boring if your not interested in the material, hes funny , overall easy class
Professor Gonzales was really helpful and knowledgable in creating exhibits. He was very good at guiding us how to do each step while still allowing us to be creative with what we wanted to achieve.
Professor Gonzalez is a great professor. Very inspirational and caring. Inspired me to continue doing museum and anthropological work. Listen to him and you will be amazed at how he facilitates class discussions and work. Will take him again
Funny and charismatic. Intelligent professor who cares for his class and the subject itself. Light workload and lots of group work (so if you're not into that beware!). Only critique is that it's hard to get one on one time with him due to the many students also needing assistance
Professor Gonzalez's Museum Exhibit Design course was both fun and instructive. He is very enthusiastic and passionate about his work, and that rubs off on his students. This class is very much a hands-on learning experience, and by the end of the semester, students will be able to say that they helped design and install an actual museum exhibit!
Albert is a super cool guy! He makes class really fun while also being understanding about the real life pace of things once the semester kicks into full swing. He is very personable and easy to talk to. As long as you show up to class and do the very reasonable assignments you'll do great.
He is a very calm and pleasant instructor, and he understands the students and shows that he cares for them.
Professor Gonzalez is amazing. His grading criteria is very clear and makes sure to state his expectations always, so both sides (professor and student) end up winning. This class was the one class I would really look forward to --- even though we got out at 7pm! Highly recommended! (He's also funny).
This class is fairly essay but I will say that attendance does matter!! You will be doing a group project that is a big part of your grade but the professor is there to help and clarify anything. In class small quizzes are easy if you read the material the professor gives you. Overall great class and would take again!!
I am taking this class as it is a requirement for a history course and at first I thought it was going to be boring and a snooze fest until I found it this class is an activity class meaning you treat it like work. But this was more of a fun experience. It was so simple, fun, engaging and Honestly kept me sane over the semester. Albert is the best.
He is very understanding and cares for the students, and he is also a nice instructor to have again if I wanted to retake it.
Fun and hands-on course. There were very few if not only one reading assignment, the rest of the coursework was all done in class. Interesting and engaging, even for non history/anthropology majors. Not much emphasis on homework, major emphasis on attendance and active participation. 10/10 would take again.
Albert is a super cool person who's genuine enjoyment in what he does really comes across in his classes. This course in particular was not difficult, because he was so accessible and easy to talk to. I really enjoyed this activity based course.
Prepare for group work! No tech is allowed in class.
Professor Albert is literally the best professor you could ask for. He is very upbeat and fun to work with. I took him as an accounting major to fulfill my UD-GE requirements. This class is easy, but you need to show up and do the work. Participation Matters and is a huge part of your grade. You should take this class; it is worth it.
Professor Albert Gonzalez is a true gem of CSU, East Bay. He cares deeply about the subject matter, brings enriching real-world elements into the classroom, very supportive of each individual student and their learning journey, et cetera. Simply put, I wish I could take more courses of his. So please do not miss the opportunity to take his courses.
Albert is a great professor. I mean going in I wasn't sure given the no technology rule but once you get into it, you don't even need the tech and you end up just diving full into the lecture and discussion, which is not usually something that comes easy to a class of strangers. He's great to have and i highly recommend anything he teaches.
Professor Gonzalez is a great lecturer! He gives his students a lot of freedom to express themselves in class and in their assignments. Working on class assignments really woke up my academic creativity and invited new ways of thinking. Highly recommend taking his classes.
I really appreciate Prof. Gonzalez approach to reading and reading notes - don't be afraid of the no devices policy - you will learn to read fast without reading cover to cover and the note taking method will help you feel really in control of the information. Prof. Gonzalez is demanding but flexible, he makes the classroom a community..
Very good instructor Assignments were too long and hard, but overall good class and instructor was very helpful.
Good class. Lots of reading/ notetaking, however, it is SUPER useful.
Some of the rubrics for assignments were a little ambiguous, but other than that the approach that Albert takes in his classes is definitely needed for any humanities student.
HIST 600 was one of the most engaging grad seminars I've taken. The professor fostered open discussion, gave clear and constructive feedback, and pushed us to think critically about archival theory and public history. The workload was rigorous but fair, and I left feeling more confident in my writing and research skills.
