you should take his class
yeah if your pretty or good in math, he's nice, but if you ask him anything pertaining to basic math, he'll give you a smart answer, expecting you to know before you enter...
Harsh grading. He has a slight accent and doesnt want you to learn from book. He lectures without the textbook and of course, homework daily.
this teacher thinks that we know everything he tells us, so doesn't really explain. i do not recommend him at all!!!!!!!!
This teacher expects you to have learned everything you need to know before you get to his class, so don't ask questions. He'll say "you should have learned that already".
He tends to be boring. His lectures are so systematic. The first day is like the next just as it is as the last. His tests are fairly easy as long as you do the work. He assigns homework but does not collect it. Gives points for having the answer partly correct. Easy A if you keep up on the homewor
I took Calculus from Mr. Lam last semester. He is the best math professor I ever seen. He made difficult concepts easy to understand. He was very fair in the tests as well as assigning grades. Great Professor!
Mr. Lam is not to interesting with lecture and expects you to know most of the subjects he is dealing with. He assumes we learned everything we need to know for his class in previous courses, which isn't always the case.
Kwazy wabbit!!!! His favorite lines were "You need to take math 115 over", "I don't need to explain the formula of how i got this answer because you should know that already from previous chapters", "let the math lab help you"
He doesn't teach ,he's just writing down problems from text books. And he will give you a batch of paper set problems. It will cover 75% for ever each test. The rest of 25% is tricky. Nobody gets it. But the easiest test is Final. For final, previous tests' problems and lecture's cover.
very easy.. take his class. easy to get A.... mid-team and Final just took from the leature problem
i took him the winter and i couldn't stand it HE IS SO EASY!!! i would always leave 1 1/2 before class started...and i passed with a b you dont turn in hw and the test are multiple choice if you dont like math take him you will learn tust me
I took cal I in his class in the spring, and i barely got a b to pass it. because of the final, it brings up my grade from D to B cause i got an A in the final and i fail two test, and 2 test got a B and one test got a C. he doesnt collect hw which is i dun like it, and he doesnt give extra credit that much, but u can cancel one test grade. and m
this teacher is very unclear! all he did was copy the problems from the book and tell us to figure them out with out lecturing!
Mr. Lam is an excellent math teacher; he takes time before class to ask if anyone has any questions regarding the homework (optional). His lectures are informative and clear, with many walked-through examples. He's also very easy-going on attendance. Anyone who's struggled with him will probably continue struggling throughout their college career.
nice guy, good teacher. you do not have to turn in homework, but should do it if you dont understand the subject. really nice guy.
HE MAKES YOU COPY A LOT OF EXAMPLES FROM THE BOARD AND GIVES YOU HOMEWORK AFTER THAT.
I could not understand what he was saying. I attribute my learning solely from the text. Maybe it's just me but I find it most helpful when I understand the lectures.... Heck, I could have done it online and saved the trip.
He writes a lot of examples on the board. ALways do the examples b/c it will help u when u take his tests. I think his test r easy b/c it's from the book. After he passes back the test, he photo copies the answer key for you. His personaily sucks b/c he's quiet and he looks mad lol if u ask him a question he gets p.o n will shout at u for notknowin
He is one of the easier Calculus teachers on campus. You get to drop one test and his finals have the exact same questions from the previous tests, so you really get a chance to bring up your grade. The only bad things is he's not very helpful and he discourages students from asking questions.
He is the best math professor I ever have. He explained and taught in a well organised way that you would never get lost. If you come to the class and do the homework on time, it is very difficult to fail his tests.
I like the way he helps you understand how to solve a problem.
He is great. Do the assignment honestly and make sure you understand it after you get help. Study the review problems and the examples he gives, you will pass the class.
He is cool. You will understand him. He explains math in a clear and logical way. Do the homework and follow the instruction he gives, you will get a good grade.
hard tests, makes smart remarks. expects u to know everything
Best Math Prof. at ELAC!!!!
He doesn't go over problems that students do not understand. He covered too many chapters at once. He only has four test throughout the semester that are worth 100 points. I did not like this class.
lam's examples are very clear but he is really hard to understand because of his accent. his tests are easy and only gives a little. he can be rude and does not interact with students
man this guy sucks.... hard tests.... gives the hardest problems got a B on the Final and still Failed... Do Not Take this prof....
in all honestly, math was never my best subject and i deperately struggled through this class. i did the homework and studied and still ended up doing poorly on all the tests. but instructor lam, as a person, is one of the best professors i have ever had. he truly cares for each student's success and i really am grateful to have taken his class.
Doesn't really explain problems goes to fast.
i found him very easy to understand depite his heavy accent. it's hard for me to find teachers who teach the way i need in order to learn.
If your not good in math do not take him he explains fast also when you ask a lot of questions you can tell he gets frustrated
Mr. Lam is one of the best math professor at elac, gives reasonable amount of HW and really easy exams. I never being good in math but i got an A in his math125. If jou know your sh*%# from math 112 & 115, there is no reason for you to not to pass.
this is the easy class, you only needs to do all your home work(it's not that much) easy get an A.
Very good professor. If you have your basic algebra down you'll defenitely pass his class. He gives a reasonable amount of homework. He really helps when you have questions regarding the homework.
Very Good teacher explains everything very well. However, if you dont have your algebra down you might consider reviewing before taking him. Took him during winter and homework was not alot compared to other teachers.
Very good teacher. I failed the first test but made two A's and a B on the next three and got a high score on the final and was able to pass with an A. Highly Recommended.
He's ok, not too hard, just do your hw and do your best on the test. he don't mind if you late. To all the sucker who talks sh*t about him, go to hell, you don't like this professor becuase you didn't get a good grade in his class, and its not his fault, its because you stupid.
Lam was awesome! I took him for the Winter Session and he was very helpful and clear during his lecture. He did give a bountiful serving of homework but it all paid off come the tests! This is not a lazy persons class but you don't have to be a math genius to get an A!
good!
he is a lousy teacher.. when you ask him a question he alwasy says" because it is suppose to be like that" or " you can see in the problem".. only he knows what he is talking about!
took him summer session, dont take class unless you have your math fundamentals down. isnt clear in explaning, gets annoyed when you question the process. a hefty amount of homework but bearable. 5 exams, best of 4 and 1 final exam covering all chapters. attendance should be mandatory, says it is but isnt. miss a day and youre out of the loop.
Took him during spring 08. Allows students to choose their review and test dates. Very approachable! If you don't understand something during class he's available after class for any questions. He may come off as mean but you just have to understand his sense of humor and don't take it personally. Highly recommended.
You must show up to his class if you want to learn.Lots of homework but it prepares you for tests and the final which are all very easy.Is approachable if you need help or have questions.A little hard to understand and sometimes does expect you to know what he is talking about but does all he can to help you pass the class.Class is not for slackers
This prof is okay. The stuff he teaches is necessary and useful. He is also friendly. However, he is not really devoted to the jobl; I found a lot of mistakes in his teaching; He often gives us the wrong mathematical assumptions.
Lam is a good professor. He is patient and looks like he cares about his students.Compared to most professors he is pretty easy.
he is a good teacher if you are not math major. because he is easy, just do hw, you will have a good grade. he rarely use textbook, and his hw is very very few. just less than 100 questions in the whole semester. but you can't get enough knowledges i think. wo if your major is math, not recommend! if not, extremely recommend!!!
He is a good teacher. He always gives a good method to solve a problem. He is very patient and he won't assign something that he doesn't know how to do it. He is very responsible, he is very organized. When he teaches, he always go step by step. Highly recommended!
Not very helpful. He assumes you know the material, even though most of the material in this class is new. If you ask questions he will respond with "You should have learned that already" Do not take his class if you don't have math funamentals...
Great teacher, makes sure yo understand the material before moving on. Provides many examples. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
mr. lam is a very good teacher! he gives you notes for every chapter he covers and lots of examples. he spends at least 2 to 3 days reviewing for the test. everything on his test is something that he covers in class. taking notes will be very helpful.
IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE RIGHT WAY, TAKE HIM.
Guys he has an accent but he does teach the material properly , he's not hard just study and be prepared to get serious in math
He is a alright professor. He does skip some steps that make you ask how he got a result and he wont explain it if you dont ask. I would suggest taking him if you know a little about the subject if you know nothing i would avoid.
it's easy to understand his class! If you work hard in the class!he will give the in class question which is from textbook.following the questions you will know how to do the homework!
Professor Lam cannot teach Calculus to students taking the class for their very first time in their live. If you taken calculus before, his test should be piece of cake, since his test are based off his notes and problems from the book. He does curve. He Know his calculus, but look up Patrick JMT for tutoring in Math, it complements the class.
His accent is hard to understand and he really just can't teach he was unsure of alot of his problems and some students would teach him at times
Prof. Lam is crystal clear in what he's covering. Gives many examples to the point where it gets boring. He does expect you to know everything prior to his class. He also blames a lot on highschool, which i found was pretty funny. Overall, a great teacher IF YOU ARE WILLING TO STUDY and DO THE HOMEWORK to prepare you for the test. They are the same
I had Prof. Lam as "instructor" for online Math 115 (pre-algebra). He would not answer emails, gave snarky answers to questions in class.Had to drop his course, it would have ruined my 4.0 gpa.Unless you are great at teaching yourself algebra, DO NOT take online algebra at ELAC!
Prof. Lam is a great teacher. Besides him giving LOTS of examples, he teaches you the right way and is very helpful. His grading scale is also a plus, you have to miss LOTS of questions on test if you're going to get a B/C
Overall, Lams teaching style is fairly comprehendible. Expects students to know basic arithmetic math. He also provides help to whomever needs it.
Great professor, really helpful, i got a B but i didn't really studied, overall great class
He is a alsome teacher and highly recommende him. His test are hard if you don't study and you get homework everyday but he is a alsome teacher
He is good teacher,if you study hard, you will got A (ps: test is not hard )
His tests were supper hard at first. He's very nice and willing to help. I got an A in the class but I had to work my butt of for it but its doable just study hard
He goes through the lectures fast. while you´re preparing to take a test hes already teaching on the next chapter. 3sets of hw each due on test dates. Test are only one page but questions are worth alot of points. if you´re good with math take him. if you´re struggling Do NOT. you will fall behind.
I got an 'A'! but I never missd a lecture, I did my 4 sets of homework(twice each)and I studied an average of 2 hrs a day for his class. The tests are 10-15 questions that are worth a lot of points, but he gives partial credit, which I appreciate. I will take him in Spring 2013. If you do...be serious from the start and you'll do fine. LM
Did it online. Most of the class dropped out by the end. So make sure you are committed! do the sample test. do your homework! do the online test (you get 3 chances) was nice to us for our final and gave us a multiple choice test! approachable and pleasant :) nice guy
I took this class for winter. He giva us 4 sets of HW u need to do it it was worth 20% of teh grade it will help u at the end. He is a easy person and he is very helpful. I enjoyed this class and i am not a math person!
con: makes careless mistakes because he does all the algebra work in his head, doing homework doesnt really help just do it for the points pro: all final exam questions are in your notes and previous tests final will probably help boost everyones grade having perfect attendance will definitely help you a lot in this class
Professor Lam is a pretty easy teacher. As long as you go to class everyday, and do all your homework. I don't have any complaints.
I took him for pre-calc this spring, and his teachings was really good. He did 3 exams (2 chapters each) this semester. I did bad on those exams due to a lot of memorization, but honestly it paid off in the end during the final, and passed with a B. I took his class before, and I recommend to take him if you want to understand math.
Best Math teacher at ELAC. Grade consists of 3 sets of HW. Each set is turned in on the day of the test. Very helpful and explains everything and answers every question. I also took him for Math 260 and the grading is the same. I recommend him!
easy teacher because his tests will include all the stuffs that he taught before. Take his class and it is helpful.
nice guy but awful teacher!! he does not teach the class...PERIOD! the only time hell explain whats on the board is if you ask, and even then he does not explain thoroughly! he expects you to already know the material. therefore you are basically teaching yourself! his tests and quizzes are easy but that's only if you seek help else where...
Professor Lam explained the materials step by step and crystal clear. I had no problem with his accent and understood all he said. This is the third math class I take from him. I am getting an A in this class and I am not Asian.
Terrible professor I do not recommend taking his class
I only recommend taking this class if you are willing to study 2 hours per day otherwise don't count on passing plus the professor is really old so he makes a lot of mistakes in his math
Honestly i think professor lam is 1 of the best instructors for calculus 1 at elac. The homework isn't mandatory but if you do it you can get points. you take 3 test not as difficult as one might think because they are similar to the examples and quizzes. fair grader and is willing to help if u ask. i got an A and i am Hispanic. 7 quizzes drops 2.
Pro. Lam is probably one of the best math teachers at ELAC. Everything he writes on the board is what he wants to see on tests which is very helpful. Most people in class criticized him for making small errors with numbers but he's only human and they're never concept mistakes. Took him for winter and it was a great pace.
Take his class if you have enough time to review your notes and attend every class. He is really helpful if you want to da academic study. BUT DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE NO ENOUGH TIME AND JUST PASS THIS COURSE!!!!!!!!!
Sarcastic at times, sometimes is not clear on his explanations. There were times in which he himself was confused on what he was writing (not a good sign) he knows what he is doing but at times goes to fast and gets frustrated if he has to go over the same explanation. Warning; make sure you use tutoring service to pass his exams!
In general, he was an okay professor. Prof. Lam smiles a lot so that kind of lightens up the class a little bit. His teaching style is someone dull and can get confusing at times. He doesnt really teach concepts, but rather just how to do the problem itself. The tests arent hard, but he does not grade easy on them. All of them are from the notes.
Excellent professor
He does not lecture. He introduces the subject, does a few examples from the book, and then he puts more examples on the board and gives 10 - 15 minutes for the class to solve and he solves it after and answer questions. Most of class time is doing problems from the book. He gives a lot of homework however, they are due on the day of the CH test.
Prof. Lam is an awesome teacher :) If you just pay attention, do your work, and ask questions when you don't understand something, you will have no problem getting a good grade in his class. He does a good job of breaking down each concept. He may make a few mistakes when explaining the examples but he is only human; nobody is perfect. Lam can also be funny at times. Overall, great professor!!
He explained the concepts very well and told you things you need to know well before going to the next level. I like him.
He is a really good professor, if I can , I want to take another class of him .
So I took him for winter session, if you aren't good at math be prepared to spend a good 6+ hours a day studying doing homework. The pace is fast, but Lam makes sure you get the practice doing problems in class. He's got a bit of an accent, but you can understand. If you put in the work, you'll definitely pass (:
Smart teacher, he knows his stuff. Bad thing for the student is that if you dont know what he is teaching then he wont take the time to teach it. Mr. Lam would state on math problems saying "you should know this, i am not going to teach it to you". so be ready to know it.
He's cool. So he has an accent, but still easy to understand and when he lectures he says things like "You do like this, not like this." So make sure to look up and see what he's referring to. Don't be afraid to ask questions even if he says that you should know this already, but he doesn't blame you and he'll clear it up. It helps to know basics
His lectures are clear and understandable despite his accent. He has a very fobby sense of humor and loves to pick on students. I was his #1 victim LOL. He has a fair grading system. If you master the homework, the exam is cake. He tells you exactly what will be on each exam. He'll replace your lowest test score with the final exam.
ATTENTION! If you want to pass his classes, do this... 1) do ALL the homework. 2) Take all the class notes, and master them because test questions are strikingly similar. Most of the examples he gives are not on in the book! 3) Exams are Not a piece of cake, but if your master the class notes you will be fine.
I'm not recommend to take his online class if no enough time to study. You need to study at least 10 hours per week in order to pass exam. There has tons of homework, weekly test, monthly online test and big four test. It was hardest class I ever met.
I am maths major and I am Asian, Lam is good, but I think to be a good professor, he needs to explain more concept, not just writing all the problems on the board and did not explain why. But I understand him, because the class time is very limited. So as long as you can learn by yourself and master all the example problem on notes you'll be fine
His test from book and lecture, but you must write every step. you can use calculator in test. It is not hard if you study. He will give 31 extra credit to help you. very nice professor.
I had Calculus in high school but I learned more from professor Lam than the high school teacher. Professor Lam is well organized. His lecture is very clear that you don't need to go to see tutors. It is difficult to get a bad grade if you understand the lecture and do all the homework " honestly" by yourself.
Currently taking MATH 115 online/hybrid class using MATHLAB to do practice questions, homework, and online tests. This class has been very difficult for me because Professor Lam's in class weekly quizzes/exams are a lot harder than online. Nice teacher but I wish he would at least show examples in class before exams or what to focus on.
Don't take him if you're bad at math, I've seen so many people struggle in the class. Make sure to do All the hw as it can really affect your grade. The exams are 50% of ur grade, it was tough but there are no surprises unless you do the hw. Doesn't show much examples to problems, i learned some through the book. Only take him if math if easy for u
Professor Lam gets offended and mad when students ask questions. His tests are hard because he puts things he doesn't teach. He goes too fast when he is teaching.
his lectures compose of doing problems on the whiteboard. There is no reasoning or proof of concept. You learn by watching him do problems, and he doesn't explain anything. You basically have to use your own inductive/deductive reasoning to understand what he is doing.
Professor Lam is a great instructor and willing to answer questions. Many examples are done during lecture. 7 Quizzes and drops lowest 2. Final replaces lowest test score. Tests & quizzes are tricky (usually the hardest examples done in lecture). If your first step is wrong, won't see the rest of your work. Class requires alot of study & practice.
Professor Lam is a very bias professor. He knows his material very well, but he can not explain it well. Most of his examples are copied from the textbook. He does not give partial credit when grading quizzes or tests. He is very confrontational. I would not recommend him if you are not strong in your algebra skills. Very hard on tests and quizzes
This professor is very clear and gives time to complete homework.
Professor Lam knows the subject very but his lessons are boring because all he does is stand in front of the white board and solves problems. He gives little to no explanations on most examples and if someone asks a question he seems bothersome and he always tells students "you should know this already". If you such at math don't take him.
I took Lam for Math 125 it was horrible he teaches too fast and skips steps he expects us to already know certain things. If you dont know them he makes you feel dumb by telling you that you shouldnt have passed your previous class. He give lots of Hw and he only spends a day reviewing for tests. I wouldnt recommend
The comment dated on 11-28-2017 was NOT true since Professor Lam always spent at least 3 meetings to review the test if the class meets 4 days a week. He explained the concept step by step. Great professor!
Took professor Lam this fall semester and it was a breeze. We had class 2x a week and always gave a heads up on when the next test was (2 class days in advance). His class was fair and the test & final were made up of problems we did in class. Pretty easy grader since he gives you partial credit even if the answer isn't completely right.
Professor Lam is one of the worst math teachers ever. He goes way too fast and if you ask him to go over the problem again he will tell you to look at the board and figure it out. At the beginning of class he told us that he usually looses more than half the students, to me that's not something to brag about. That means they leave because of you!
Professor Lamb is an overall straightfoward person who just wants their students to know the subject material well. Lamb replaces one test score with final.
I take his 241 class. I love him. His quizzes are from what he taught. He always spends at least 3 days to review before the test, and the questions are all from it. He also gives the final test examples.
Goes through the lecture too fast. Expects students to comprehend a problem with 5 minutes with no real explanation or actual teaching of work. You miss a day, you miss out on a lot. Hard to pass, lots of homework, and at times can be confusing. Not one to really sit with you and help.
I took Mr. Lam for his Math 125 class at 7am. His lectures aren't too long, doesn't dwell on the lesson, couple problems then moves to the next section. The examples he gives are too simple compared to the homework problems. Will tell you what chapters are on the tests and will give about 2-3 classes to prepare. Testsstudy guide w/ changed #s
Worst professor ever. You can tell he really doesn't care about teaching anything, but is just too money hungry to not retire yet at the expense of students. On top of that, anything he goes over he will repeatedly say you should already know this. He just reads past pre-written math equations so quickly it's obvious he is hoping you don't ask Q's
Lam is a straight forward Professor I took Math 241 with him He will prepare you for quizzes and exams He uses problems from his lecture examples and homework His downfall is his tough accent If you put it in the work you will pass His final was the study guide he gave us For the most part he is caring
great professor he explains problem step by step detailed yes he does work fast but if your a student that asks questions he will be happy to explain how he did the work and was very kind in answering any questions students had he gives the formulas in tests and still answers questions during the test make sure to practice with the hw & reviews
This is the 2nd time I have taken profesor Lam's class. He tries to teach us the best way so we can understand. Doing homework is definetly mandatory to pass this class. Once you review the notes he gives, you will understand what you are suppose to do. He gives reviews before we take a test and he wont test anything else than what he reviewed.
Professor Lam made the class easy for a calculus class. He curves the grade so top 4 tests will count and half the final score will go to the lowest test. It took me 3 classes to understand logarithms and he taught me well. Well organized, so he tests you what is from the class AND the test reviews.
It seems like others had better experiences. He was often unprepared for our lectures and always made mistakes that others had to correct. His reviews were never similar to the tests except for the final. Seems like he teaches many courses each semester and ours was the one that got the short end of the stick. Half the class dropped out.
He has his notes written down already and just shows the problem. He then explains it but does not show you step to step. He expects you to know the next steps and if you don't he will get mad and say you should of learn that in previous class. When you ask a question if you are confused he is rude when he responds. Never again!
Here is the guideline to pass this class. 1. Ask him to make a copy or PDF of his lecture note. (Because of 100% of his Test& quiz is based on his note.) 2. MUST read the lecture note! 3. Do ALL the Homework. (Test is similar to HW) 4. Don't need a Textbook, only need to read his lecture note. 5. Do the extra credit HW. You will get a C at least
His lectures are tough and he doesnt like explaining things. gives enough time to copy the notes on the bored. the reason why i would take him again is because his notes are the same as the exam. so memorization is key if you forget how to do a problem. i got a C because i caught on midway plus it was a winter course.
We covered a lot of things! Lecture notes clarified a lot of messy topics in the Calculus textbook. The homework assigned was enough to understand what you're doing. Exams and Quizzes of good difficulty for new/average Calculus students. He gift wrapped everyone a 85% in the course. And a lot of people didn't take it. I got an A. Will take again!
very good professor I took it to MAth 125 and it was very good explains will. I recommend.
I actually dropped the class after taking it for 2 weeks. Maybe the professor is good for campus teaching, but not online teaching. He goes over materials fast. Never goes over homework. Wont reply emails. no book used, so you cant really check homework answers. Not a very helpful teacher. If you are not good at self learning do not take him.
So I took this class for business cal for fall 2020, the class is made up of attending zoom meetings twice a week, being taught pre-made notes, and each week there's a test. By far the worst math teacher ever, lack of explanation for grading, and unreasonably strict. I submitted my test, 2 problems, got the first one incorrect, and received 0/20.
I took his first quiz and he docked a lot of points for small mistakes. He straight up wrote a comment to just drop his class. I am now taking another math teacher online with a 91 percent in the class. This teacher is the definition of lazy and not caring for teaching. How this guy got hired for teaching is a mystery. Take my advice and skip .
class is supposed to be from 6:50-9:20 pm but begins at 8 and stops at 9. I guess East los Angeles College pays its instructors for working only half of their class time. this professor could review homework in that hour but chooses not to. instead he refers students to tutoring center. I did not know if my work was correct until I took the test.
Just do the work. If you cant understand something then go back to the book and review. This class is not for people who cant teach themselves and its no easy A for those who struggle with math. But if you get math then it should be easy. His grading is more than fair just follow instructions. Couldve gotten a better grade if I paid attention.
I took his class Spring 2020. He is impatient, messy, and not helpful. I felt like he was bothered teaching this class. He would get mad and be rude if a student had a question. I had to teach myself how to do the work and used the textbook to test myself. He messed up my final grade and it was a nightmare to get it changed. Stay away!
Avoid taking this professor.... teaches from lecture notes that are already written with errors. Doesnt teach!!!!
The only thing that was bad about him was that he wasn't a fan of people who asked questions. "Your wasting our time by coming to my office hours", "ask during class". Has an accent. Besides that, if you do your work and study youll be fine.
Albert Lam is one of the worst professors I've ever encountered. He's an incredibly impatient, cranky old man. Math can be difficult for some, and having the patience to re-explain things or make clarifications might be seen as desirable, right? You will not get that with him. He just gets angry and will interrupt before you finish your question.
The subject was not particularly difficult but he is really bad at explaining things. Most of the time he made us copy notes instead of showing us step by step how to do problems. This class is not made for people who cannot learn independently. Only redeeming quality is he gives a decent amount of extra credit.
Professor Lam explains Math so well although he has a strong accent. The one thing I like about him is that he always reviews lecture before every test which makes easier for me. He doesn't give too many assignments. However, if you want good gradings, you have to practice by yourself using his lecture and your hard work paid off in exams.
Lam may appear mean but he is a caring person. First couple of weeks he weeds out those who aren't ready for his course and that don't have a good mentality towards learning. Don't be late/miss. Gives partial credit up till where you make a mistake on problems. Stay on his good side he rewards hard work. Download notes and follow along in class.
Man, i took his course as a prerequisite so I already knew the content; that made me lucky. Entered new chapters without providing prior context, he would bash on people like mentioning how he stopped teaching calc because the students didn't know what they were doing or how he has to teach high school teachers who don't know what they're doing.
He does not explain step-by-step how to solve problems. "Notes" are copied from an already existing PDF (often has errors & skipped steps). Retention rate is low because he does not teach very well. Does not like to repeat explanations; complains about that often. I do not recommend him if your best subject is not math.
Ridiculous course. Sped through the last 5 chapters in 3 weekends expecting its to understand it thoroughly. Midterm is 2 weeks before final??
Do not take him if you want to deal with the anxiety of not knowing your grade until class is over at the end of the semester .
Professor essentially just scrolls through textbook examples, moves fast to avoid questions. Don't take this class expecting to learn anything, it's just 4 tests and a lot of homework. He expects you to already know all the content he's showing. Every time it's just him scrolling through a pdf. He constantly makes mistakes explaining his own work.
I'm taking him for calc 1 in a 5 week course and I'm dropping the class but I think he taught pretty well. His exams are very similar to the homework which is helpful so you aren't thrown a curveball. He does have a condescending attitude at times which makes you not want to ask questions again. I could understand why people don't like his teaching
He was a terrible professor. He sat in the corner and just had us copy notes. He was very rude when answering questions, to the point that we(AS A CLASS) reported him to the dean. Even the tutors in the math lab would question some of his actions. You will need a lot of outside help to even understand the material. Quiz every Thursday.
He mainly just puts the notes up for stats and will expect you to write all of them down and he will review them in class and so he will give you a bunch of packets at once and will expect you to finish then on a certain date
Explains the material thoroughly but does it fast. Professor expects you to pick up the material immediately after the lecture given. He does not like repeating himself and gets irritable when you ask the same questions. Does not let you take notes during his lectures, you must take them on your own time which makes it difficult to keep up.
DO NOT TAKE him, he cannot speak English, he doesn't even teach the class, he just shows notes, he doesn't show you how to do anything.
