Prof.LU is amazing! He is so helpful and he gives you like 10 ways to get in touch with him so there is no reason why anyone shouldn't do well in this class. He makes math fun. I've never liked math but I actually looked forward to his classes. He gives you every chance to do well by giving comprehensive review sheets, and lots of chances for bonus points. I also like that he doesn't mark problems completely wrong for silly mistakes (ie 2+2=5), he's more interseted that you understand the concept.

Prof Lu is one of the best math teachers @ GPC. By far my fav. ALWAYS willing to go the extra mile, he's a wonderful teacher and knows his stuff to the T... approaching from both sides. Mr.Lu is a good prof., however U have do your part 2. He is often willing to explain until U understand. He makes it fun and somewhat EZ. If you want a class where you simply sit in the back and take notes, then he is not for you. Mr. Lu demands participation in his class, but participation often leads to bonus points. He grades fairly and makes class fun. He also explains how and why formulas work, which makes them easier to understand and remember. Great teacher!

The teacher is cool as long as you do what he tels you to. Helps a lot if you take time to meet him during his office hours. His reviews help a lot as on remembering the whole chapter material, andas to just do good on the test.

He's using propganda from his website to force his students to come here and give him ratings -- how unfair. He's still awesome though and easily the best math professor at GPC, or what will be GPC for another year.

his exams seem to take a toll for the worst-i like this teaching methods and can appreciate his frustration with the lack of precal. knowledge-however i think that it should say something to him when on the second exam the number of F's doubled. since the exams weigh so heavily, we are in trouble if they become even more difficult..

He is a very good teacher, and makes it easy to understand a tough subject. I don't think he could make it any easier to score well on his tests. If you fail his test, it's because you didn't review like he tells you to. If you are a reasonably intelligent person, listen in class and put a little effort into it, you should have an A or B easily.

a great professor. He always keeps the student in mind. With his office hours and the ability to contact him via internet, he always has a fast response. Any teacher that will answer a question for you at 3:00 am is a good professor. How someone fails his class is beyond me.

He will help you if you are the type of person that needs to know why the formula or process works. He will make fun of you if you ask a dumb question (sometimes it's very funny) but he will also make sure you undsrand the problem no matter how many times he has to explain it. I have taken Lu 2x-the first semester I managed an A, then for CALC1, I got a B. I disagree with what others say where the only nice comments are from people who get As. He was extremely helpful and provided plenty of opportunities for bonus points. If he got mad, it was because he gives you every opp to succeed and still ppl don't try.

Calculus can be hard, and Mr. Lu is not going to spoon feed it to you, but he'll try to make it as painless as possible. He'll go out of his way to explain things, but you MUST ask questions, and you have to put effort into the class. He demands a lot of his students, but he will give you every tool needed for success. All-in-all he's a great teacher. The class is fairly easy if you participate because of extra credit points(one kid got 97 in my class). He is clear with his teaching and has a class website which he keeps consistently updated.

Moves extremely fast with too few examples (too basic that will not help with exam preparation). Plays favorites in class. Grades fair with bonus point potential to make up for hard level, but only seemed to call on the same two students everytime. extremely helpful during office hours when he shows up. Lu rocks! He's not easy, but when is Calc 3 ever easy? You need some self-discipline for this course - show up even though he doesn't take attendance, and do the HW even though he doesn't collect it. Cannot express how much I loved this teacher. This is the first year I actually understood the math I was doing. You are going to have to work for him (he doesn't just hand it to you), but he will bend over backwards to help you understand. I took this professor for all my calculus classes, and comparing him to other math classes at GPC and GaTech, this professor is unparalleled in ability. Homework is assigned yet optional, and usually unnecessary as you will fully grasp the concept after lecture. If you don't, his notes are available online, and he offers plenty of office hours.

I think that mr. Lu is one of the best math teacher alive. I took his math98 last fall & did great. His lectures are very clear. Last spring, I had to take math1111 w/o mr. lu I hated my teacher. Now I'm taking him for math1113 it is harder but i am trying. I wouldn't take another math class if mr. lu is not teaching it.

Excellent professor - highly recommended. This is by no means an "easy A" math class. You will be required to attend class (on-time) and spend a few hours each week completing lengthy homework assignments. Mr. Lu does provide a study guide that mirrors the exams that he gives. He will ALWAYS make time for students who need extra help.

I have just started in one of his Calc classes, and whilst he seems a very competant teacher, his attitude leaves a lot to be desired. His bonus point system is far from objective as it is he who deems who is worthy enough to correct his mistake. I also find the fact he makes these deliberate mistakes a particularly childish method of instruction.

Has developed a wonderful style of teaching and some interesting methods in the classroom. Putting the notes online means that you can just sit back, listen and actually think about what he is saying. The bonus points keep students involved. Calc II is a hard class, but he managed to make it pretty clear and semi-interesting. He always explains the logic behind things instead of just having student's memorize formulas. Good prof to take, but not exactly an easy A.

Very good! Although he yelled at us sometimes, he was still one of the best math teachers I have ever had. All you really need to do in order to do well in his class is the study guides he issues through his website before each test (most important), the homeworks (not graded, but helps), and answer his bonus point questions. THE GOOD: He knows his stuff in and out, gives very clear notes, passes out great review sets for tests, gives bonus pts for correcting lecture mistakes and maintains a website with all class lectures, notes, hw, etc. THE BAD: He plays favorites (especially with bonus pts) and encourages a culture of brown-nosing in his classes. Still, take him!

4tests-65% with 3 being 20% n one worse being 5%. quizzes-10%, final-25%. quize=HW problems. exams=review sets. plus bonus point added to ur test grade if u correct math errors in class. one of the good teachers i've ever had. good teaching,clarity, u have to work a little hard but it pays off in the end. Class is not an easy but calc isn't an easy subject. Had him for Pre-calc and enrolled in calc 2. Always available for help. Comes in on the weekend. Michigan/ga.tech alumni is obvious. A+

Best math professor ever

I am a full time worker & a nonsmoker. I am doing fine. Mr Lu is an awesome teacher. It's Cal, you have to work hard. He does problems other then what he provides & his offic is always open. You get bouns points to help with grades. Most university teachers are no where nice as him. If you can't deal with Mr. Lu, you may struggle at a university

I am shocked by some of the overwhelming amount of negative comments towards Lu. Quite un-surprisingly, those who complained that Lu was mean enough to actually have academic standards had trouble witting a review that contained punctuation and capital letters. I work full-time, and doing well in his class meant that I missed out on some sleep.

Yes, Prof. Lu has the audacity to give bad grades to bad students. Guess what: that is pretty much how life works. No good boss cares how hard you worked on a project; they only care about results. Frankly, I do not want to see the world full of bad engineers who only passed classes because they had "understanding" and "sympathetic" professors.

Great teacher. Expects a lot of time and effort but is always willing to help. Do your homework, review sets and final is cumulative don't forget the stuff from the beginning of the semester. The best math teacher i have ever had. Remember best does not mean easy. You'll have to work hard. Definitely recommend him.

Lu kicks ass. That is all there is to it. So what the man expects you to make an effort. Guess what you are going to learn something. I had him years ago for cal 3 at GPC. I learned more in his class in a summer semester than I did in an two years finishing up my BS.

I took AP Calc BC during my high school year and I DID NOT understand any of the concepts but Dr.Lu really crystal clarified every single concepts and that really helped me. Well he will mock you and embarass you for not knowing simple concepts which I can understand, b/c that is a proof of not studying.

He is a really nice teacher, but he is very mean as a person. Clarify a lot of concepts and actually knows his stuff, but he takes favorite students and always calls them when it comes to bonus point. Dont like him as a person, but , well, he is very good at teaching. Ask him questions and work really hard, i got a B in this class

Best math teacher I ever had. Turns out (probably thanks to Mr. Lu) I really LIKE calculus. Who'd a thunk? He does pick favorites, the people who raise their hand and ask or answer questions. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with that. If you are willing to do the work, take him.

Oh, I missed the Old Lu. I don't know what happened to him, but he is completely change the way he used to teach. For some reason he become so mean and arrogant. So of y'all know what I'm talking about.

As a math teacher, he's great (particularly if you're a female), but as a person, he's downright horrible. Don't get between him and his coke and cigarettes, or it'll be a day you'll forever regret. Tests come straight from homework though, so do the homework and you'll be fine.

I took him for calculus II and got an 'A' in the class. He really clarifies and simplifies the concepts. He is not easy, but if you show up to class and make corrections you earn bonus points he adds to your test grades. You will learn more in his class than with any other teacher.

Awesome teacher. Whether you like him or not, he explains the material extremely well as many times as you need (as long as you ask). He has an authoritative presence, making his classes great learning environments with minimal confusion or distractions. I highly recommend him to anyone who is going into a math or physics-heavy field.

Do you like respect? Respect is demanded by students but not given to them. Some pretty harsh moments during class.If you are a natural at math AND do your homework you will be fine, this is sort of a "rich get richer" type of class. Those who already know the most get the most bonus points. If your pretty and smart you will do great.

Grade A Math professor, as good as you would expect at an institution like Georgia Tech. Very fair, and describes the material well. I wish he would teach more science based courses, like physics- he's good. Take him and study well, because he wants you to learn the material. Wears an awesome leather jacket and is cooler than anyone else at GPC.

I came into the class after not being in school for 15 years. I did not start off well in the class, but I payed attention and applied myself. He was very helpful and was able to reach everyone who was willing to apply themselves.

Professor Lu is a brilliant man and a talented teacher. He truly loves the subject he teaches and will bend over backward to help you if you ask. Understand that he only requires that you use all of your potential, don't take his class thinking you'll skate by cause you won't. He's not hard and gives a ton of extra credit.

Professor Lu is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. He explains everything extremely well, really cares, makes sure people are actually understanding him, and gives a ridiculous (in a good way) amount of extra credit. If you care about the class, you'll be treated well no matter your initial skill level.

lu is like one of the only professors who actually teach u things, not just memorize crap...he also sat with us in the study groups and helps us with our problems...nobody is perfect.....would hightly recommond him to whoever wants to really study....

If you love math or anything related, take him. But if your only interest in taking Calc 2 is fulfilling a requirement that doesn't really matter to your studies, don't take him. I'd also caution those with low self-esteem. He jokes & teases to try to keep things light but he can be unintentionally cruel. It makes it hard to learn from him at times

Very focused on preparation for next level up. More than willing to help, extremely available, cares although it may not seem so at times. Go to his office, listen carefully, do the homework till youve mastered it, participate, do the review set, know the concepts, take the class seriously. I'm not going to come out with an A, but I know the stuff.

I have never had a teacher as organized as Mr Lu,and his website is extra help for student. However, for some reason, he feels insecure in his classroom.He tries to make sure that no one ever takes advantage of his good manners. That reduces the quality of his teaching.

As an engineering student, I'd say he's the best math teacher I've ever encountered. His teaching technique is engaging and his knowledge is sound. It's work and he can be eccentric but it's for the purpose of teaching and it's highly effective. Bend over backwards to take him and you will get a chance understand and actually enjoy math.

Lu is a good teacher, I don't see any favoritism in my class. He is funny, and makes sure everybody is paying attention. He is too conceptual for my taste, I don't need to know the applications of calculus, that's what my chem, physics and biology classes are for. Other than that, study hard and persevere...

He gives out extra credit to those who pay attention in class and can answer questions or catch mistakes he make on purpose, which keeps everyone up, alert and focused. He really wants each and every one of his students to learn, so he makes it possible. He is a winner.

Best math teacher ever. Answered every question that was ever asked to him in a clear and courteous way. Keeps the class interesting and as funny as math gets. HOWEVER, the class is HARD but it REALLY prepares you for the next level! Tons of extra credit offered! Only take his class if you truly want to learn!

Prof Lu is by far the best math teacher at GPC. He is extremly smart and can explain and answer any question that comes his way. He will take his time to make sure that everyone understands the material. Lu is really funny and loves making jokes. I higly recommend if you really want to undersand calculus. I would not recommend him anyone unless the person to whom I was giving advice is gifted or has taken the subject prior. Everything, from his "bonus points system," to the fact that his test =/ study guide and homework, are testament to his academic arrogance. He's great at explaining things, but that's no boon if tests are not reflective thereof.

Teaches really well, and has a great sense of humor. Hates memorization, so everything you learn is practical. I've gotten more help during his office hours than I have from any other teacher in the entire time I've been in college. Lots of opportunities for bonus points on tests!

Very solid teacher who really knows his stuff. He does make it an intentionally difficult class (on top of the difficult subject matter) but gives you all the help and resources you need to pass. Note: it's a very fast paced class. He teaches very conceptually, which is cool. I'd recommend brushing up on pre-calc before taking this class.

Lu is a rockstar. I took him for Calc II over the summer, and I don't think I could have done it if I had any other professor. If you work hard for him, he will work hard for you. He has an amazing talent for boiling down difficult math concepts into something tangible. KNOW YOUR PRECALC. Tough, but very fair. Best professor I've had at GPC.

Lu is a good professor, it was a hard topic and he has a tendency to go a little fast over certain topics, but he's a great professor. He does play favorites, but I would take him again.

He is hands-down the best professor I have had at GPC and the best math professor I have had anywhere. His tests are hard but if you work hard, you can get an A and you will learn a lot. This class was not easy, but if u do the hw, and study the lectures, u will do well. Tests are a lot like the study guides, so if u completely understand the study guides, you will do well on tests. Make sure u understand concepts, and u can do anything. He made the class enjoyable. It was a fun math class.

The best way I can describe his class is if you want/need to learn Calculus for the future, take his class. If you simply want to get an easy B, take someone else. His classes are tough. I took him for Calc 2 and 3, got C's in both, but I learned way more about math in the process than any other class I could possibly take.

I would not recommend this class for adults; by that, I mean someone who does not need to be told to grow up or toughen up. He treats his class like children when he needs to just let those who are lazy fail. If you have your act together, then this is not the professor for you.

5+ quizzes, 3 Tests, 1 Final. NO DROPS. He's probably the best at teaching the subject of math but at the same time, he's VERY difficult. He rushes material alot, is harsh in criticism, and expects you to master everything in very a short amt. of time. Precalc will be golden to you in his class, study it THOROUGHLY WELL before you take Prof. Lu!!!

This Teacher can tech better then teachers at tech. Love the teacher but hate the attitude. His quiz are straight from the HW. You should do well on his test because its similar to his study guide. I had a A+ Avg going into his final. His Final is INSANELY difficult. He gave an option to take the test or take a 50. I took the 50 and made B in calc3

if you struggle at all with math dont take Lu. He has no sympathy for ppl who dont remember everything since pre-calc. Has office hours but not everyone is just a student, some are fulltime workers also and he treats you like a slacker if you cant make office hours. only gives you hints when solving problems. avoid taking if you can.

Had him for all of my math classes. Best teacher I've ever had. If you come to and participate in lectures, do the homework, and don't struggle with math, it is not difficult to make an A. The finals are pretty killer, but it's not hard to go into it with 100%, which means you only need a C to retain an A for the class.

Great Prof. I understand math MUCH better with his explanations. BUT the tests are tough. Not sure how many people were able to get As here bc the final was much harder and longer than others tests. Half of the people left to take a 50 on it, and it was 30% of our grade. I hated his bonus point system because he picks on the same 5 people.

Lu was the best and most difficult professor I've ever had. He's very clear about what he expects, but A LOT of work is required (for most students) to do well on his tests. He is a great teacher. He will sometimes make you feel like an idiot for not knowing every in and out of pre-calc, but that is just him being a guy. He is an expensive tutor too. Overall, his class is great for a hard subject. He posts his notes online, and he doesn't give out too much homework, which is a great help. His exam review is spot on.

Professor Lu is one of the best I have ever seen. His makes Cal 2 looks so easy. His Tests are no jokes though. Participation is a must for extra credit. Took his last semester with 35 students in his class but after the first test, 70% of class dropped. DO NOT take him if your average student.

one of the funniest professors out there, if you get use to him you'll even laugh at his super lame jokes. I've always hated university math until I met this Professor. He is like the prophet of the Math God: he completely understands the language and teaches in an inspirational, applicable way so it is RETAINED. He has a hilarious, nerdy sense of humor but yet he maintains a professional classroom setting. One of the best professors I've ever had.

I came to GS as a transient student this summer expecting to knock out a few classes. Probably get a B, maybe even an A in Calc 3...I was WRONG. Lu is the type of professor who want's you to know WHY you're doing a problem. If you don't understand the concept, your grade will suffer. The only reason I made it out was because of the bonus point sys.

Took him for Cal II & III. Emphasizes concept, and teaches for your understanding, not your memorization. Encourages participation with a generous bonus system that you can ONLY take advantage of if you participate in class. Gives tough tests but teaches accordingly, and also gives comparable practice exams. Hands down, excellent professor.

He is what you call an ideal teacher. He knows math very well and tells you very well. the more you try hard the more he helps you. if you want to be good in math, take him and the college should give him a good salary raise.

Work on the revision sets as soon as you get them. This is your key to an easy A. Otherwise, you will hate yourself after not doing well in the test and realizing that you couldve gotten literally 100% if you had practiced the revision set. An A in his class is as easy as practicing his set, and also following the steps and methods he gives. GL!!!

Professor Lu is the best math professor you will take. You're only graded by your exams and quizzes so it will be tough if you don't get the material. His exams are very tough but doable if you understand. If you genuinely find math interesting, he's definitely the guy. He actually explains why the formulas are the way they are.

TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE TO LEARN MATHS.. Heavily participation but personally that really helps me. Show him that you actually care for the class by participating and get good grade in THE FIRST TEST, he wont pick on you. Participating will help you have extracredits on some tests, which boosts around 10 pts. Curves on test usually 10-20pts.

MAIN ADVICE: The best place to take his class is ONLINE. I saw many reviews about him being rude in his face-to-face classes BUT if you take him online as long as you COMPLETE the weekly DISCUSSIONS and HOMEWORK you will pass. He curves every exam based on the grades of everyone. The only way you fail is if you don't put in the work.

Calc 2 is a hard subject. Prof. Lu does a good job giving you the information. You will have to put in a lot of work to learn the subject on your own. Your Precalc and Calc 1 knowledge better be on point, because his tests are hard. There are only 3 tests, including the final, so not much room for error. DO NOT get behind, you won't ever catch up.

I took Prof. Lu online for Math 1113 (Precal) as a dual enrollment student for summer 2022. It's an easy A if you do the work. There's recurring assignments with set dates each week. His lectures are long but helpful and important for the way he grades your work. There's only a midterm and final and he updated grades three times during the course.

Not enough characters to say all I want to say, but I'll keep it short. You want an easy A/B? Run to a different professor. You want to learn the right way and have a great foundation? Take Lu. Great lectures, very hard exams, lots of studying required -- it's all worth it. This is not an easy subject, but Professor Lu makes it understandable.

Professor Lu runs a tough but rewarding class. The exams are challenging, but the lectures and textbook are helpful if you put in the work. Using unstuckstudy AI alongside other study tools made a big difference.

Mr. Lu is an amazing teacher. I barely passed his Calc-3 class during the scamdemic. He really pissed me off at times, but looking back on it all, it was what I needed to inspire me to grow. His lectures are the best math explanations I've ever gotten in all my years of schooling. He really understands how to break these tough concepts down.

Vids are concise, funny, and cover 90% of HW problems. Grade is 20% higher of two exams, 50% final replacing lower. Exams are FRQs, will give most to full credit for correct logic with wrong answer. Very patient and clear in tutoring. My grade's only low from not participating - as long as you give a bit of time and effort, you'll pass.
