Tests are fairly easy, makes the class enjoyable. Attendance is important its 10% of the grade. 3 tests and a paper. Not to bad, definatly recommend him
He knows his stuff very well. He was a chaplain in the navy for 20 years and is a great man and a helpful and intuitive professor
I definitely enjoyed his class. He is very intelligent and makes the class interesting. His test and grading are fair (easy). I would reccomend him to everyone.
Dr.Slomovitz is great. Very knowledgabe and fun. His tests are fair and easy, one research paper, make sure you research well. If you show up to class and do the readings, you should get an A.
Show up, pay attention, highlight, take notes, and you'll get a guaranteed A! Interesting class and very straightforward. Small essays on Exams but you know what they are ahead of time. Great prof!
Not a professor to take early in the morning. He takes attendance everyday, has a very monotone voice, tends to ramble and uses almost NO visual aid. He's a genuine and kind person, and is clearly passionate about his subject, but I can't say I would recommend him. He put me to sleep a lot. Three exams make up the whole grade, so don't mess up!
Take him! Really nice, sweet man. The study guides are pretty much the tests. The book is pretty much where I got all the info from so definitely buy it. Great teacher. 3 tests-that's it.
Take him! he is very nice! and his test is very easy and he teaches very well.
My favorite professor I've had since I started college. Very passionate and fair grading. Encourages you to come talk to him about anything. Will help you out if you ask for it. Would definitely take him again. Highly recommended. Attendance isn't mandatory but he keeps count. Only 3 tests so study. Great class!
Probably the MOST boring professor I have EVER had!! only gives three test each worth thirty points and a ten point attendance grade so come to class and study because you screw one test up you wont get an A
He is very knowledgeable. The first few classes he will show you his book with all that he highlighted but once everyone has a book he doesn't anymore. He does not use powerpoints, he either reads quotes from the book which you want to take note of. He gives 2 test and a final. All are 28 Qs and a 2 paragraph essay. He does take attendance. (10%)
I felt this class was somewhat liberal. Overall, nice guy. Attendence is mandatory (I think after 3, he started deducting from your grade) 2 tests and a final(not comprehensive). He pulls his tests straight from the book. Easy A if you try.
its a shame that he doesnt teach more levels of history.Slomovitz is a great teacher and a awesome guy. He's a Rabbi and goes into goes into great detail about WW1&2.I'm not a morning person, but I took his class at 8am,and made an A. If you will have good attandance, take him :D
Really good teacher, passionate; 2 tests, 1 final - MUST STUDY! Work is not easy, each test is multiple choice & 2 paragraph essay; attendance is mandatory, no powerpoints, just talks & reads important things from the book (sounds boring but ends up being helpful bc you only need to know what he points out), make sure you highlight what he says!
He's a great professor. His voice is monotone and boring but he genuinely cares about his students. He's very passionate about his subject. I wish I had worked harder because then I probably could've had an A in the class
Class was really easy. It seemed extremely boring at the beginning, but the best thing to do is to bring the book to class & make notes in the book because that's where he gets most of his test questions.
He's a nice guy who's incredibly boring. His class is really easy though if you do the study guides. He gives lots of notes, but nothing too rigorous. I recommend.
Avoid him! He's incredibly boring and his tests are tricky. Based on the reviews, I though he'd be okay, but I was so wrong. The lectures are SO dull and requires attendance. He teaches straight from the book.
He's so boring...He interupts the class for stupid things such as sleeping and reading a book quietly. His tests are somewhat difficult. He teaches directly from the book so don't forget your highlighter!!! if you study what you highlighted you will easily pass his tests.
This guy is so boring. Attendance is mandatory in a 200 plus class. I am the type of studen that always goes to class, but this is one I wish I could miss. I am a A - B student and ended up with a C in this class because he is so scattered and all over the place in class. Do not take him if you can help it!
I LOVE DR. SLOMOVITZ!!! HE IS A SWEETHEART AND HE IS VERY FUNNY...his grading system is very easy and the notes come straight from the book so make sure u attend class..his study guides are very helpful so take him!!!
Attendance in mandatory. Teaches straight from the book, so you'll definitely need it. Three tests with multiple choice and short answer and one five page paper on a topic of your choice.
Dr. Slomovitz is a very good teacher. He told stories that added to the understanding and enjoyment of class. Use your book and study guide. You do need to know dates. He does take attendance. You should go to class or get additional notes from classmates because he adds to the information in the book.
Attendance is mandatory, and if you try to leave in the middle of class he will stop teaching and ask where you are going (on a microphone in front of 200 people). Otherwise, he is a good teacher. Teaches straight from the book, and goes in order from the book. The whole class is a lecture, no Power Points.
This class is not difficult. He teaches straight from the book so highlight and TAKE NOTES. He has good intentions but is strange at times. He'll call you out in the middle of class if you leave or aren't paying attention. Only grades are 3 tests and attendance. He doesn't go too in depth with the info, so take this class if you don't like history!
I'm a HISTORY ED major and loved this class. Prof gives engaging lectures and is entertaining. Having read some of his other reviews let me just say that he does NOT show bias against Japan (WTF?) and if students leave in the middle of class, well, they do get called out. It's his class after all. GREAT PROF! TAKE THIS DUDE!
The review on this teacher are WAY off. He is extremely boring..he takes attendance in a 250 person class and calls you out if you leave during the middle of class. Teaches straight from the book, tests are all over the place and questions are very unclear. i would not recommend him
Prof. Slomovitz is very easy and kind. You're only aloud 2 absences however, and reading/taking notes is a must to pass his tests. Also, he only gives 3 tests so if you are a bad test taker.. don't take!
Professor Slomovitz is awesome! He lectures straight from the book so you don't really need to take notes. He;s pretty funny and entertaining so the lectures aren't dreadful. His tests can be kind of confusing but if you do the study guide he posts online then you should be fine! Take him!
Best professor I have ever had. Listen, take notes, highlight when he reads out of the book, and do the study guides and you will get an A:) (does take roll even in a class of 250)
this guy is an amazing teacher.just listen to the lectures and take notes and study and you will do great! i got an A in this class and i didn't have the book but paid attention in the lectures.very interesting and he really loves his job.attendance is mandatory but his class is interesting so it's really not bad.loved this class! highly reccomend!
Love him!!!! He is such a great teacher!!!!
Professor Slomovitz is a very nice guy, but his class is set up in a way that makes it difficult to make an A. There are three tests, each 30 questions and 30 points a piece. Attendance is taken every day and the other ten points that make up your grade come from being there every day. Tests are very difficult. Would not highly recommend.
GREAT TEACHER!! Class is pretty easy, 3 tests. Attendance is mandatory but you can get an extra grade for it. Tests are pretty easy just study. He does study sessions and tells you exactly what will be on the test and gives study guides.
You can get an A if you just put in the effort. Tests are based off the chapters and lectures. Make sure you answer all parts of any questions you are required to answer
His class is easy to people who are good at taking tests, but to those who have high testing anxiety, beware. 3 tests is all the grading you will get besides attendance. His lectures are interesting and he is a cultured person. He really knows his stuff! You'll use the book everyday. Just pay attention and study.
Enjoyable class and professor. Dr. Slomovitz is an interesting lecturer and provides great "real life" additions. Amiable and willing to help (need to ask). Study the text and take notes in his lectures and you'll do fine.
Great professor, very helpful, absolutely loved this class. I was never excited about learning about history until this class. Mandatory attendance (10 pts of grade), lectures follow the textbook, 3 tests at 30 pts each. Take Dr. Slomotivz!
Took the online class, he is AWESOME! I am a Finance major and have no interest in History. Dr. Slomovitz posts videoed lectures of himself teaching the material and you can pause, play them back, etc. He offers 4 modules with a test (10 questions), a short essay and a short discussion in each. Highly recommend, very helpful professor!
Great teacher, passionate about history. Really knows what he's doing.
Wonderful teacher who knows his history. Makes it interesting by adding in personal stories you can relate the material to. Very easy and wants students to remember the material, not just memorize for tests. Final is not cumulative.
Awesome professor, who is extremely passionate about history. Prior to this class I was horrible at history, but I haven't made lower than an 86 on his tests. Just make sure you read the book, and show up to class. Highly recommend taking this class!
Very passionate about the topic. Watch the videos he posts and the tests will be easy. Essays are difficult, but if you spend time on them, he grades fairly. Responds quickly to emails.
Loves his job, loves his students. But he absolutely hates people being on their phones during class, or people talking during his lectures--he WILL call you out! Come to every class, buy the book (get a used one, it usually has everything he says underlined already!), and take good notes to what he's saying along with the book....you'll do fine!
Take him. He is passionate about history, knows what he is talking about and is funny. He does call people out for being on phone, talking, and dozing which is WONDERUL1 Come class, buy the book highlight what he talks abut in class and watch the videos for test review.
This man is an incredible human being. I walked away with so much more than a grade from this class; he may get side tracked in lectures, but the stories he tells are the type to stay with you as you grow as a student bc of their depth and wisdom. He is a true professor and one of the most respectable people I've encountered. Remember Grandpa Sam!
Dr.Slomovitz was the best professor that I have had at KSU. History is not my major, but he knows his stuff! He makes the class interesting and adds his own experience as a veteran an personalizes the class. He was an absolute joy and I will miss his knowledge. He is very approachable and cares about his students. He's the epitome of a true scholar
Professor Slomovitz is a phenomenal professor. I had him my first semester of Freshman year and he taught me what a good professor is supposed to be like. Mandatory attendance but his lectures are definitely worth it. BUY THE BOOK, questions are pulled from it and the lectures. He also posts his lectures online so you can review. Take him!
One of the best professors I've had so far. Dr. Slomovitz is passionate about what he teaches and makes it very interesting. There are no notes or power points, just him lecturing. Pay attention to what he says and you'll do fine. Know the dates, a lot of his questions use them. He provides study guides but I never looked at them and got a high A.
Listen to his lectures and make sure to take notes. KNOW the dates in history. His tests are a bit difficult, so if you are taking this class for an easy A I would not recommend. If you really want to learn about history from a brand new interesting perspective I would recommend.
Easily the best professor I had my entire freshman year, extremely passionate and easy to listen to, has personal stories relating to most of the material and loves his job. Need the book and he requires attendance. No cell phones either. Tests are not horrible if you pay attention and study the material.
Sit on the first row! Wherever you happen to sit on the 1st day becomes your permanent row. Attendance is mandatory and must be on time or lose points. What he goes over in class IS the test (not whatever is in the ch.) Need to know dates even if he says don't. He's interesting, easy-going, & has a great point of view (served in the navy too).
Such a nice and funny guy! You can tell he really loves what he does! I thought the first test basically sealed my fate of getting a B in the course, but on the second test I did very well and the final helped me get an A. Make sure you come to class and you come ON TIME! 10 pts. for attendance doesn't seem like much but it can help!
Long video to watch every week with chapter in the book to read. If you don't watch every single video and memorize it you won't pass the class. 2 discussion postings every module and 4 2-3 page essays. Lots of work for a history class online. Better to go to class and not take this online.
Tests are very picky and you have to memorize dates. Hard class.
DO NOT HAVE A PHONE IN HIS CLASS !!!! He will stop lecturing and ask you to put it away to as many people as it takes. EVERYDAY if necessary. (Embarrassing) Shares sad stories about different events of his life and religion (he's a Rabbi). Very smart why? Wrote several books but also makes youKennesaw buy them (Genius $.$$). DON'T BE LATE 3Xs
His lectures are long, but interesting. He told us at the beginning of the semester to not worry about your grade, he just wants you to learn. Your grade is made up of 3 tests, attendance, and an extra credit assignment. His tests are multiple choice with a short essay. He tells you what to study and what the essay will be over. Take him!
Grade consists of three 30 question tests and 10 points for attendance.
Engaging & inspiring teacher. Pretty funny without trying to be. His tests aren't very hard bc the questions come directly from his lectures. No cumulative final, just 3 tests & attendence. Take good notes & study them before the tests and you will make an A. He also offers an easy extra credit assignment worth 2 points to your overall grade!
I took the class online. He posts long lectures every week, but probably no different than if you went to class. If you don't watch his videos, and I mean all of them and take notes, you won't pass. You also have 4 quizzes, 4 tests, and 4 three page essays. It's a lot of work, but online classes are ALWAYS more work for some reason.
He loves what he is teaching. No cell phones or laptops are allowed. It is a great idea to take notes from his lectures and follow along in the book. The study guides given are more like bullet points of topics you need to know. Each test is worth 30 points, and there is only 3 of them. Attendance adds up to 10 points.
Take the classrooom instead of the online class. You have to write 4 3 page essays and 4 discussion with responses to students plus 4 tests. The classroom class is much easier and So much less work. Lectures are videotaped and they are extremely long. If you don't watch every single one of them, you will not pass the tests.
I highly recommend taking the classroom over the online class. He assigns much more work online than in the classroom. Most of his questions cannot be googled. He's a smart man. You must watch his hour long videos on your computer or you will not do well in his class. My friend tried to google answers and got a 55.
The online class consists of long, long hours of taped videos. You won't pass his tests if you don't watch 3 hours of videos each week. Therefore, if you can't sit at your computer that long, take his classroom instead where you don't have a choice. YOu really have to be disciplined to take his online class. classroom class much easierlesswork
Great lecturer. Keeps things pretty interesting and is very inspirational. He really cares about the success of his students. Tests are tough but if you pay attention, take good notes, and complete study guides you should be fine. Easy B but A is obtainable with hard work. He is also pretty hilarious sometimes. I would definitely take him again.
Take my advice, take the classroom class as you do much less work. My friend did half the work that I did. No papers for the classroom class. 4 three page papers for online plus discussion due and 4 tests. Take the Classroom class.
Online class involves long video taped lectures of about 3 hours a week with a discussion question and a 3 page essay. if you miss a lecture, you are toast. there are much easier history classes that don't involve such long essay papers 4 times in the semester.
I took the online class and it is a ton, i repeat ton of work. you have several hours of videos to watch each week plus a discussion and a 2 to 3 pages paper every unit. you can't google the answers, so if you skip the long lectures you will not pass the test. i've heard no papers in the on campus class, so it is much easier than online.
Prof. Slomovitz is a great professor. Even though the lectures are long, they are detailed he really engages the students and wants them to understand. There are no quizzes. 3 tests & participation your final grade. Go 2 class everyday, take notes, read what he tells u in the book & you'll be just fine! Take him.
Long long lectures. you have to write 4 discussions online and 4 essays. tests are hard if you do not watch the lectures and write down everything he says. i agree with other posters that the classroom class would be better as it is hard to listen to hours of lectures online.
His online lectures are really long. You have to watch several hours worth of videos on history each week in order to pass the tests. You also have to write 4 papers that are about 3 pages long. Tests are pretty hard if you haven't memorized the online videos.
His lectures are so long. If you dont memorize them, you will fail nhis tests. Tests are extremely difficult and you have to write 4 long essays and 4 discussions that he is picky on.
If you take the online version of the class, he puts about 3 hours of videos up per week that you must watch if you want to even think about passing his tests. Enough said.
OmG the lectures are so long and there are so many of them online. I took so many notes and was so confused. His tests questions are extremely picky and date sensitive. Very hard class for me.
Prof. Slomovitz actually made me enjoy history. He was a great professor in the classroom. Take lots of notes. Write down basically everything he says because his test questions can be specific. Take him to actually learn something and get a good grade!
You have to watch a ton of videos each week to pass the class. His lectures are very long and his tests are very nit picky. If you don't thoroughly memorize the material, you will be in trouble. Timed tests do not allow you to look up answers.
Anyone who gives Dr. Slomovitz a 1 is crazy. I will agree his lectures are long, but they are no different than taking a regular class. He probably gives the same lectures to his twice a week classes at school. If you take detailed notes and study them, you should get an A. I got an A on every test using my notes. Watch all of his videos.
For me this class was hard because the only grades are tests that are 27 questions detailed questions over 6 or 7 chapters each. Attendance is mandatory. His lectures are long but he tried to make it relevant.
I really have always despised history class. I am now taking the online class, and it is actually quite interesting. I will warn you though, if you do not watch his lectures every week and take many notes, you will not pass the test. His tests are from his lectures, not the book. You have an essay and discussion on each unit. I learned a lot.
3 tests(with 27 MC questions and one 3 pt Essay) worth 30 points each. 10 points for attendance. Show up people. Look at it like this, if you miss one question, that's one point deducted from your overall class grade. Don't miss more than 10 questions in the semester if you want A. Got a 76 on the first test, then a 101. Lesson learned? TAKE NOTES.
amazing professor. He does give long lectures. There is only three test grades no homework or quizzes. So it requires you to be reading OUTSIDE of class and reviewing daily on your own. If not test are HARD. The first test is the hardest I was just getting used to the long lectures, no power points. He is a VERY passionate teacher.
Super nice guy, gives study guides to let you know whats on the test and tells you what the essay question will be. Lectures are boring but if you pay attention you'll pass.
Don't be ashamed to make a C in this class. Only 3 tests- no homework, quizzes, or other grades. 10% of your grade is attendance. THAT BEING SAID... class is interesting; he is funny and you will definitely learn a lot. He tells you what the essay questions are about ahead of time and tells you exactly what to study for the test.
Slomovitz is a great professor BUT be ready to pay great attention to detail in his lectures. Test are based solely off of his lectures, and there are only 3. Very hard to make an A in the class if you bomb one test. Attendance is for a grade and he posts his lectures and study notes on d2l. Great guy, but I wouldn't take him again.
Even though his lectures could get long he is honestly the best history teacher I've ever had. His perspective on history and how he teaches it is very interesting and he's clearly very knowledgeable. His tests can be difficult BUT he only tests over what he teaches, and his lectures are online and he shows you exactly what to study in the book.
He can get boring at times but is sometimes funny. The first test was difficult because I was not used to his tests. It was 27 multiple choice questions then an essay. You have to study at least a little for the test. And the tests are the only grades you get so bomb one and you are in rough shape. He gives extra points for showing up to class.
Three tests for 30 points each with attendance counting as 10 points to make up final grade. Provides you with so much material to pass the tests such as how many test questions come from each chapter and the essay question. Buy the book and follow along with him in class, listen to what he says and you'll surely make an A.
He was a decent professor. He reads from the text book in class so the lectures are pretty boring. The only grades you get are from 3 tests. The tests are multiple choice and one essay question, but you MUST know your dates!
Absolutely loved Dr. Slomovitz. He's extremely inspiring and is very knowledgeable in history. 3 test, no quizzes, no papers, no homework. If your read over his study notes and take notes in class you should do well on the test. He teaches out of the books but i honestly never used them and still did fine .
The whole class is three tests but they're are far from easy. It may be tempting to just watch Youtube videos of what the tests are over but you have to read from the book to pass. I would also recommend watching his video lectures he posts for online students. That's what I did after making D's on the first two tests and I made a 100 on the final.
Excellent professor. His tests come from his lecture material. Some test questions can be very specific and it's usually not in the book. Many times it looks like there are more than one correct answer on multiple choice, but I went to every class and took notes the entire lecture writing down everything he said. I also used the online videos.
He takes attendance very seriously. Be ready to show up for class every day with your text books and be prepared to take lots of notes. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and has lots of personal stories he will share with the class. His tests are multiple choice with an essay, but he goes into detail about what he is looking for.
Professor Slomovitz really knows his history. His knowledge is immense and you would be crazy not to take his online class. However, you must watch all of his online videos or you will not pass. He is actually quite interesting to listen to and I am not a history person. He is entertaining and is questions come from the videos. Take notes A!
You must listen to his video lectures as his tests are based on them. However, I am not a history fan, but he is quite entertaining and does not put you to sleep. Take notes on his videos for the test. He's a great lecturer. Discussion, essay and test for 4 modules.
I really liked professor Slomovitz, all of his test are on the lectures and its really interesting information. I can honestly say this is the only history class that I've actually learned it. I would take him again if I could!
LOVED him! I would take him again in a heartbeat. Very interesting and fun to learn. I have never enjoyed history until I took him. Also very understanding and will work with you through anything!
I love Professor Slomovitz. He is very sweet and respectable. He is very knowledgeable about what he teaches and makes lectures interesting. The tests are based off the lectures. He teaches out of the books but I never got them and did fine. If you show up and take notes the 3 tests are easy. He takes attendance every day
Awesome, genuine professor. Has tons of great stories. Must go to lecture to pass; He does not post on D2l. Tests are based solely off notes from lectures. Grades attendance. His tests were worded somewhat tricky but not very difficult.
Class grade is based off of 2 test, mandatory attendance and one final. His tests are heavily based on what he says and hardly anything related to the two assigned textbooks. Watch his online video lectures if you want to pass his tests.
Professor Slomovitz is one of the nicer history teacher. He legitimately cares about whether or not his students learn anything, which is why he is always relating historical events to present day one. He's detailed about his lectures and expects you to know a lot, but it's nothing too ridiculous
Very nice man. You must write down everything & every page # he says. 3 tests, one of them being the final. You will need the books. I only used them when i rewrote my notes for the exams. Pay attention in class and show up. It's not that bad. I usually struggle to pay attention, so if i can do it you can too
Mr. S is a great teacher he really cares about his students. I took his class this past Fall and he really helps if your willing to put in the work. His lectures are very clear if you watch those and write notes and study the notes youll do well on the test. His test are the lectures. Highly recommend the writting center for the essays.
I thought he was a great professor. If you participate and talk to him after class he will love you. I'm only a freshman but he is my favorite professor so far and I absolutely loved his class.
His lectures are very interesting, but can be boring sometimes. Class is pretty easy but attendance is mandatory. Only grades are 3 tests, 1 of them is the final and then attendance grade. also an extra credit paper. Take good notes because tests can be kind of tricky but not too hard. I got an A, B, & C on the tests and still got an A in the class
2 exams, 1 final, & 1 extra-credit research paper. Attendance counts for a grade. Show up, take notes, read the textbooks, watch his online videos, and STUDY. It is not an easy course due to the lack of grades, but work hard and you'll be okay. He cares for his students and is extremely rich in history. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing his lectures.
I took him online. There were twelve assignments due throughout the semester: four discussion board assignments, four essays, and four tests. HE IS A TOUGH GRADER. Dr. S. is very passionate about history, and as a result his lectures are interesting. Make sure you take good notes on the lectures; content on the tests comes from the lectures.
The class content is not that difficult and Slomovitz is very knowledgeable in is passion for history; however, the way he conducts is class is not beneficial to the academic environment in my opinion. Attendance is mandatory and beyond that he does not allow cellphones (understandable) or laptops (?). I usually take notes on a Mac so this is annoy
he was one of favorite professors to listen too. Super passionate about history and his knowledge of it was amazing. He had personal stories that were very inspirational. his class is super easy. Have to take notes when he talks but he does have videos he posts online of himself lecturing. Super easy A if you put a couple of hours into it a week!
If you skip class, you really won't pass. You can't really be late either, kind of annoying. BUT. His lectures are interesting on some days, and kind of tedious others. Only a few tests and his tests can be tricky so be prepared. Extra credit at the end of the semester. Uses videos from time to time and it helps. Lectures can be boring but not bad
Attendance is required but the lectures are not useful at all. He usually will just talk about his own experiences and slide through what he finds useful in history. He is Jewish so he has a strong focus on civil rights and the Holocaust. Class was not hard but the lectures are impossibly boring.
Only 4 grades - 3 tests (30 points each) and attendance (10 points). Easy A as long as you study and listen to his lectures and write notes. Definitely attend class so you can get the full 10 points and offers a 3-4 point extra credit assignment. Very incisive and incredibly understanding but lectures can sometimes drag on and be extremely boring
Do NOT take online. 4 essays, 4 tests and 4 discussion posts. The tests are IMPOSSIBLE and you can't find out what you missed. Gives you no feedback whatsoever and does not reply to emails. Try to avoid!!!
He is a great teacher. He loves to crack jokes in his lecture and he lectures a lot. He requires you to buy the text books and he uses them in his lectures during class. He cares more about your knowledge than your grade although a good grade would be nice. He is a very good teacher and I would definitely recommend him.
Great class. A little intimidating at first but as long as you listen to lectures and take notes of what he says you will be fine with the tests! Only 3 grades but easy to pass. Just pay attention and read both text books - not everything, just what he says to read.
In order to do well in this class buy the books!! He gives 3 tests and those are your only grades plus 10 points for attendance. Tests are not difficult as long as you take notes on what he lectures in class. Very passionate about his subject and has a lot of wisdom to share!
No phones/laptops allowed, attendance is mandatory, only 3 tests, attendance grade, and one extra credit paper. His lectures are interesting bc he tells good stories but it is harder to make an A in the class bc there are only 3 tests! If you do not test well do not take him!! He is a nice guy and has cool stories but definitely hard for a gen ed.
Loved this professor & this class! No electronics at all which is helpful because you have to listen. 3 tests & attendance plus an optional EC paper. Test wording can be a little tricky but if you study & take good notes you should be fine. lectures can be a little hard to follow sometimes but he will tell you what you need to know. TAKE HIM!
Good Teacher. The class was 3 tests and attendance. Not allowed phones or laptop in class. tests are multiple choice and not to difficult.
Excellent online professor. Take notes from his videos because that is what is on the test. He has great stories and is actually kind of funny at times. He makes history interesting and I am not a fan of history. Discussion, essay and tests.
A solid choice for 2112. He has interesting and daring lectures, really cares about the subject. Takes attendance however for a grade and is very strict about no phones. 4 tests- straight forward honest tests. No quizzes or HW. EC essay.
Hella boring lectures, but if you take good notes, read the material, and pay attention in class, you can get an A. He takes attendance and no phones/laptops allowed.
DR. SLOMOVITZ IS THE GREATEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. I AM YELLING BECAUSE IM EXCITED BECAUSE OF HOW GREAT HE IS. There is only 3 tests. Thats it. So they matter, but the way he lectures is amazing and so intriguing. Really you just have to listen during class and then review some and you'll be fine. You will learn so much. HE IS WONDERFUL.
geeat professor dont actually need the text books, what he says is what's on the exam so take good notes and theres nothing on the test that you dont see in class so do go to class!!
Nice guy. Attendance is required at 10% of your grade and only three tests. No homework or quizzes so do well on the tests. If you show up everyday and take notes and study those the night before, no reason you shouldn't be able to get at least a B. Lectures all class but not super boring. Also offers extra credit paper.
Dr. Slomovitz is a phenomenal professor; you would have to sit in his class and listen to him to see how great he is. Be sure to bring the textbooks (yes, there is more than one required - 2) to class to highlight what he indicates for reference. Also, if you are there every day, you will get a boost in your letter grade. There is also an EC paper!
By far the best professor I've taken so far; he does not use powerpoint but he is not the typical, boring lecturing professor. You can tell he's very passionate about the subject in how he talks during class. He does not allow technology (phones OR laptops) but as long as you take down pages numbers and specific dates in your notes you'll pass.
Professor Slomovitz is absolutely incredible! He is the best professor I've had at KSU by far. His classes are lecture-heavy and you HAVE to pay attention to pass his tests (he asks very specific questions), but he is hilarious and does his absolute best to keep his students engaged.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! He is incredible, he does not read off any powerpoints so he is very interactive with his students. He knows his stuff and is amazing at teaching everything he knows. His lectures are very well thought out and everything he talks about will probably be on the test. He gives you everything you need to be successful in the class!
2 tests and a non-cumulative final (27 multiple choice and 1 essay). Theres also an extra credit paper. Attendance is mandatory and its worth 10%. You use both a regular history textbook and the history textbook he wrote. Absolutely no technology is allowed whatsoever and hes VERY strict about this. Overall he's pretty good and interesting.
He does a great job teaching this class, he's been teaching it for 20+ roughly. He's experienced and you get your moneys worth out of his class. Its one of those classes you can look forward to going to also.
His class is an easy A as long as you attend lectures. Attendance is mandatory. You are graded by 3 exams and attendance. The exams are straight from the lectures and textbooks. Pay attention, take notes and you'll ace the class.
Do not take the online section, he takes a week to respond to an email and doesn't even answer your question. I wanted feedback on a discussion post and he just told me to look at everyone else's. He does not give feed back on any assignments unless you beg, and when I got feedback he was just insulting me. Stay away from this professor.
I HATE history, but this is the best history class I have ever had. He teaches about his experiences, and is actually interesting to listen to. Not your boring history teacher from high school. Take notes from his video lectures and you'll do fine. Best professor I have had at Kennesaw hands down.
TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!! I used to hate history but this professor made it so enjoyable and interesting. 4 "essays" that were like creative writing stories and lecture videos online as well as discussion posts. made me enjoy history and taught me so much.
Dr. Slomovitz does not give very many grades. I was stressed about my grade for the whole semester. He did offer my class extra credit. His video lecture are interesting, and I learned a lot. What I learned from the discussion boards and papers is the more you write the better your grade. The tests are very hard but he grades other things better.
I had Dr. Slomovitz online and honestly, avoid. Youll have 4 discussion posts, 4 essays, and 4 tests. You can make a 100 on all the assignments without trying but the tests are HARD. I made 100 term quizlets and would still fail. The video lectures tend to go on rants that dont show on the tests so be ready to practically memorize the textbook.
Took this class online. There are four modules. Each module contains a discussion post, essay assignment, and a test. Definitely have to read the textbook and watch his lectures to do well on his tests. There is also a chance for extra credit near the end of the semester. Overall, a decent professor!
never take if you want a good grade in history. he gives out points at random and his test are stupid hard. his videos are unhelpful and the only thing to do is read the book but most times that does not help.
I would not recommend this teacher for an online class. There are 4 modules (Discussion-5pts Essay-10pts, Test-10pts). The test are crazy hard. He wants you to buy his book (80$) and base the tests off that. You can get a B in the class if you are a good writter. He also doesn't respond to emails quickly or give helpful feedback tto help your grade
Ended with an 89 in this class. I emailed him asking for just one more point(I did every extra credit piece I could) he never responded. Half of the material on the tests was never in the readings or lectures. Takes forever to respond to emails WHEN he actually answers. Also took points off my essays and never gave feedback. I wouldn't recommend.
He has an emailing problem, but other than that, I love this man. I usually hate history but this class has forever changed my views. He teaches with such passion. Gives extra credit. one essay, discussion and test for each mod (4 mods). please take this guy you won't regret it. STUDY DATES!!!!
Class is pretty straightforward: four discussions, four essays, and four tests. He is not a strict grader and his lectures are very interesting. I would highly recommend reading the textbook and his book as the tests are based on them (as well as his lectures). However, he does not give feedback on anything and is horrible on email.
Taking this class online puts you at a disadvantage due to the lack of material (Like powerpoints and notes). Having to rely on video lectures is not enough for the badly constructed tests. The tests have these terrible 3-in-1 questions that make them rough. However, the essays, discussion, and extra credit are what can balance out your grade.
such an awful class. very hard grader. his lectures were interesting but they dont help you prepare for tests. exams are so difficult for no reason, even if you study very hard for the exams, youll still do bad. dont take this professor.
There is alot of notes, be prepared to read. He gives you two textbooks to use - although you only use one. His tests are very complex - he gives you a "study guide" before the test. It doesn't really help. His class has 4 modules - each module is 25 points. Each module contains an essay, discussion post, and a test.
very hard
The class is split into 4 modules, each module contains a discussion post (+ response), a writing assignment (essentially a creative writing assignment based on the prompts he provides), and a test. There are two textbooks. A lot of reading, but he gives a lot of time in between assignments. Pay attention to the lectures if you want to do well.
Such an easy class, he is an understanding teacher and his class is based off of a discussion, paper, and test for each module. The topics for the paper are the easiest topics to write about, he pretty much only gives A's and B's on paper and discussion if you just submit it.
divides up curriculum into 4 modules consisting of one discussion post with a response, one essay, and one test. Does not give feedback on assignments and does not answer emails well. Tests dont line up with textbooks and notes.
Dr. Slomovitz has his own book so be prepared to go by what his own book says. There are 4 tests and an option for Extra Credit. There are Video Lectures, but his Lectures do not align with the actual tests. Me and my classmates agree that he words his tests in a very confusing way to where most of us barley or did not pass the tests.
4 "essays", 4 discussions, 4 tests, might be final/mid, said there was for us, never got any tests dont reflect history or book pages/lecture sometimes assigns book pages a narrative essay and a discussion only tells you what textbook pages might be on the test for half way through unit sometimes tests have info before/beyond assigned pages
There were 4 modules with an essay, discussion post, and test in each one. His "textbook" isn't very helpful and he doesn't respond to emails fast (if at all). The tests are in a lockdown browser and the questions will trip you up.
He was ok. Each unit has three assignments: a discussion post, an essay, and a test. Posts and essay were easy, just follow his directions. The only issue with him are his tests. Sometimes he will take questions from the textbook, while he won't at other times. If you just listen to his lectures you'll be able to make a decent grade on the tests.
His lectures and readings do not align with the content you are tested on, his lecture videos do not help whatsoever, and he expects you to purchase his $80 textbook. His communication with students is an absolute train wreck and does not give any valuable feedback on assignments. Save your time, money, sanity, and gpa. Do not take this professor.
His papers and discussions are easy but the tests are difficult. Every question is a trick question and the "study guide" he provides are missing some key subjects that end up on the tests. And I swear the textbook, he wrote, is useless. I swear he just assigned it so he can get some money. Don't take his class!
I took his online US history course. There were about 4 tests and 4 essays you had to write I think. I don't really like history but I really enjoyed listening to his chapter videos. The tests were graded pretty tough, each 20 questions. The essays had to be 2 pages long but were easy to write. I have a lot of respect for Professor Slomovitz
His class notes make entirely no sense. We had to pay for a text book that he wrote but it was no help for any of the assignments. 4 papers one a month. He does not give clear study guides. Hall the class failed the first two test and he did not car.
High school DE class, regretting taking it halfway through. Connect with classmates for insights, they will be very helpful. Graded in modules, max 25 pts each module. 50 on all the tests will get you an 80 in the class. Easy essays, tough tests. Irrelevant lectures+$80 irrelevant textbook. Try Crash Course, Heimler's History, oversimplified on YT.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!! I took him online and omg those lectures were LONG. 4-6 videos of him talking for 25-40 mins without any notes/slideshows. The class notes make zero sense and if you don't watch the videos, you have to create your own notes. The tests are 20 questions and are VERY particular about dates/numbers. Easy essays, tough tests.
3 grades per module: discussion post (5 pt), an creative essay written in first hand hist. acct. format (10 pt), a test 10 pt). Total of 100 pt=class grade. Not a strict grader, 3-4 lectures (30ish minutes each) for each module, gave a list of topics to study for the test, not a fast responder tbh. I spent abt 1 hr per week for his class. Take him!
Take Slomovitz's HIST2112 class with caution - lectures can be long and unhelpful. Focus on the textbook and study resources like Crash Course and Unstuckstudy to ace the tough tests. Overall a challenging but manageable course.
He does have a textbook I was able to get a very high grade with minimal reading. For this course he has 4 essays and 4 tests. He gives out a study guide a few days before each test that essentially tells you exactly what is on the test, Lockdown browser was used when I took the course. The essays are more like creative writing assignments.
Papers have REALLY weird prompts but are graded very leniently. Use details from lecture Tests are difficult but if you test well and pay attention you should be fine. The textbook is mostly irrelevant Three assignment types, one of each type per unit: 1. Discussion posts (20% final grade) 2. Papers (40% final grade) 3. Tests (40% final grade)
The tests are heavy in this class. 4 discussion posts and 4 essays that he did grade pretty easily though, I made 50, 60, 70, and 65 on the 4 tests. They used lockdown with webcam and microphone. I made 100% and 90% on every essay and discussion post, even with failing every test I made an 81. He did offer 1 ex credit assign. No notes provided ever
Dr. Slomovitz is very very kind and passionate about what he is teaching. However, his tests are very difficult and the lectures/notes don't help prepare you. The roleplay essays have some odd prompts, but there is not much other work in this class besides a few discussion posts.
got a 95, never been good at history. 4 units (modules) with about 4 lecture videos in each. each unit had 1 test, 1 discussion, and 1 short essay. he provided the learning objectives for each lecture. just study those and watch his vids thoroughly, only like 4 per unit, not that long. if you do that you'll do great on exams! one extra credit.
Albert Slomovitz, my absolute goat. This man is probably one of the greatest History educators I've ever had next to my 10th and 11th grade history teachers. There's only 3 assignments each module, but they're easy. The essays are 1st person stories that take place within the time period that are easy to do. Study for the exams!
