Great professor! She has high expectations and seems intimidating at first, but she's really not. She is demanding, but very fair. Good sense of humor, really helpful...take her!

If you took High School Spanish, this class will be a breeze! It's so easy! If you have never taken a Spanish class before, she goes extremely fast for an introductory course, so get ready to learn~all the Spanish prof's are like that though!

She is a very good teacher. She makes you learn the material by doing the exercises in the book as a class, and there are no surprises on the test. Good sense of humor and f.y.i. for the guys, she's pretty hot!

this teacher could just be the coolest lady on campus. She is hillarious and friendly, and if you put the time in, she will help you with anything. Also, she is great to talk to even out of class, and her stories make going to an early class worth it

Even though Spanish is not her first language, she sounds like it is. She has a beautiful accent and is very easy to understand. She tests you on exactly what she says she will. If you want an easy A, she's not the teacher for you, but if you really want to learn the Spanish language, she is great!

Hands down the best Spanish professor I have ever had, ever. She's tough but she's fair, and you will bust your butt in her class, but if you acutally want to learn it's totally worth it. I wish I would have found her three years ago because I would probably know Spanish by now.

I just loved the class. She is a wonderful teacher. She is neither too easy nor too hard. She makes you work your butt off, but it is worth it. She does a wonderful job of teaching the history as well as the literature.

Overall, she's a really good prof. who likes to connect with her students and is sincerely interested in teaching them spanish. She did tend to get a little moody sometimes, but don't we all. Her work load was appropriate for the class and she calls on everyone to speak. I would recommend her if you're serious about learning spanish.

I took this class in the summer semester and it was a lot of work and memorization. I did very well, but I also devoted a large portion of the summer to doing my homework and making large stacks of notecards. She is a good professor, but she seems to have mood swings where she lashes out at students who come to class because others chose not to.

She knows a lot about culture. The class was very fast paced for the summer, so if you have no prior Spanish knowledge, I wouldn't recommend taking it over the summer. She is an amazing person. She is very focused on her subject material and VERY consistent with what she expects, which allowed me to do very well in her class. She is a very fair grader and delights in students showing interest in her class. Don't take her if you don't like the subject you are studying... it is as simple as that.

Professor Pobutsky is a good teacher; she gives lots of example problems and activities in class all of the time. However, be prepared to work hard, and she will definitely call you out and embarrass you if you don't do your homework. Overall, the class was difficult, especially after an easy SPN 215 class, but you will learn a lot.

The material is hard, and there is much work to put in in order to understand, but to feel like you improved your Spanish, worth it! I took European Literature w/ her, she doesnt always teach a lit class so when she does TAKE HER. I honestly enjoyed that class way more than I thought I would. I loved professor Pobutsky! I had her for a grammar class which I was dreading but she made the class so fun and interesting. She gives lots of homework and expects class participation or will give pop quizzes. Exams are tough but do-able. She really tries to engage everyone in the class and makes you feel comfortable. Amazing woman! Would take her class again. Learned a lot about literature & it was fun because she is so passionate about it. Tells amazing stories and has us debate with each other making it more interactive. Novels are necessary but a lot of them can be found online. Tests arent hard at all if you read.

Extremely knowledgeable, hilarious, and the class doesn't require a textbook because she puts up the texts on Moodle which saves students about $150ish! She's not a native speaker but her Spanish sounds like she was born in Latin America it's crazy. You'll learn more Spanish from her than you will from the native Spanish speakers in the department.

Took this class in the summer and it was well worth it. Aldona learns everybodys name, leads interesting group conversations, and actually cares about you. She hilarious and loves tease everybody. Read a lot, and had a lot of fun in class as well as learned a lot. One of the best teachers I have ever had.

Aldona is great/enjoyable teacher to have. Unless the whole class doesn't do their homework. So do your homework so Aldona makes your lives easier. Take this class! It requires you to work a little extra for a good grade, but Aldona makes this class very enjoyable! She will not tolerate excessive absences or slacking, but will, on the other hand, work very hard with you during office hours to get you where you need to be. Wonderful professor. I would definitely recommend taking her if you are a Spanish major. She really pushes her students to do their best. She made what could've been an atrociously boring class into one I loved coming to everyday. Read 4/5 books, just keep up with the reading because she gives a plethora of quizzes. You can miss a few and be fine. Write your commentaries on Western Front and Madame Bovary, trust me, books don't get easier.. TL;DR Take this class, you won't regret

This class required a lot of preparation. We'd either have a video or a reading and then questions to go along with them. The class moved pretty quickly and covered a lot of material so if you're not willing to put in effort, don't bother with this class. She values participation and always says that she hopes that we all walk away with something.

Aldona is the GOAT. She is so friendly and gives the funniest lectures. She makes you WANT to come to class. I took both her SPN 314 class and SPN 3500 class. Both were amazing. You gotta do the homework but it really helps. This woman is a godsend and I love the woman. 10/10 recommend.

I love this woman. I would recommend her to anyone. She is so personable. She is a clear grader, and when she can tell that you do your work she grades a bit more leniently. She is mostly about reading, but then again this was a LIT class. She doesn't throw any curveballs. I've taken her three times and I wish I could just major in her.

In all my time at OU there has never been a professor, that I thought cared about me. That all changed when I met Professor P. I was never the best at multiple choice quiz's and she always said "I know you do your best" She drops lots of quiz's Read and you won't take the final. Don't have fear Aldona has a beautiful heart. While I did not love Dra. Pobutsky, she is always certain to make sure that things are fair. She does not make us get a textbook but that meant we had to do a little extra work. She works her butt off to make sure that everyone is graded fairly and understands the material and was always ready for questions. If you put in any effort at all she help

I took this class in fall of ´20 and absolutely loved it! At the end there is a final project instead of exam and we get to act out a telenovela which seems like a lot of work, but is very fun and rewarding. Ask questions and she will explain, communicate and she will help. There is a textbook but it is affordable and you def use it. very fair

Professor P made my time at Oakland worthwhile. After graduating, I still retained all the information she taught me and I ended up with a Master's in Spanish Language and Culture all thanks to her. Profesora Pobutsky is the best professor in the Spanish department at OU. She knows alot and teaches you a ton and is one of the most responsive professors I have ever had. No waiting for months for grades, she generally returned work in a matter of hours or days. She loves the material and her lessons are unique interesting and fun.

She is such a fun class to be in, always makes every lecture into a discussion. Makes things personal, funny, and easy to remember. No textbook, but lots of online homework! The good thing about that is that it spreads your grade out to quite a bit of assignments. Sometimes she has contests in class for extra credit.

Films in class are generally interesting, except the first one. It's old and difficult to follow. Professor will call you out if she suspects you're using ChatGPT which I never heard of. Each week, the films are like documentaries, focusing on historical events/current issues. Answer the questions thoroughly and include specific details from films.

She can definitely seem intimidating, but it's needed when learning a new language. She will push you to understand and use your Spanish. Class was fun and she is so knowledgable and passionate about the language. Show up, do your homework, and practice your Spanish and you will be fine.

Dr.Pobutsky is literally one of the best professors in the Spanish department at OU. She is kind and caring and wants to make sure all her students are learning and actually want to learn the content! Before each class you watch a video and answer questions and then discuss the topics in class which were very interesting.

Aldona is amazing, she teaches you grammar, words, and phrases that are useful in casual conversation in Spanish. There is a lot of homework, but it helps you to prepare for the exams. There are a few pop quizzes but not terrible. Exams/quizzes are online and no final. She is super engaging and makes the class so enjoyable. Participation matters!
