Ms. Pinder is a great person. You can tell she is very passionate about what she does. However, she is extremely frustrating with her lack of planning. I understand where she was trying to take the content in the class but it was executed poorly. Her expectations are never fully known for assignments.
Professor Pinder really cares about her job, however her expectations for assignments were unclear and her syllabus did not match the class. I enjoyed the class discussion but other than that she did not impress me
Ms. Pinder is a great professor, she really cares about her students and her job. She isn't without her faults her canvas was unorganized. She was incredibly understanding giving students second and third chances. You gotta go to class though, if that's tough for you don't take her class. But if you do it's pretty easy to pass.
Professor Pinder is a great teacher, she really cares about her students and the content that she is teaching. It is a discussion based class so attendance is pretty mandatory. She doesn't assign busy work and I really felt like I got something out of every assignment. As long as you do your work and show up this class is very doable.
Professor Pinder is by far one of the most involved teacher you will ever have! She keeps us on our toes and things exciting. The work is not over intensive but keep up with it. You are lucky if you get to take her class!
Truly, Professor Pinder was great. Her class was the first time I felt that I was in a college classroom. In her class, I really enjoyed the discussions we had. Not only did I interact with her in every class, but I became close with my classmates. I blame canvas and the education department for some things with the assignments, not her. 10/10.
Though slightly unorganized during my time in this class, this course was immensely enjoyable and important. The experience in the classroom space, and my interactions with Dr. Pinder have made both this class and this professor in the caliber of my schooling experiences
Professor Pinder's class was a constant source of entertainment. Although it was unorganized at times she is a fair grader and cares about the class.
Professor Pinder made this course very enjoyable. She allowed me to feel comfortable and confident in class to share my thoughts and opinions on the topics we were learning. Professor Pinder opened up to our class about her experiences, which created a close relationship within the classroom where we all felt connected and grew close as a class.
Dr. Pinder was amazing! She made a really fun and exciting learning environment. This was the first class that I've taken in college that felt like it was teaching me real useful things. Dr. Pinder also made EDUC-275 a lot easier for us by getting rid of a lot of assignments.
She is one of my top 3 favorite professors of all time. She is open to criticism, she admits when she is wrong, she gets the class discussions going organically and she is incredibly passionate and effective as a instructor in education. She explained to us why the syllabus was out of sync with the course, and is overall top tier. Would take again.
Professor Pinder is a really good teacher who really cares about her job. EDUC 275 has been one of my favorite classes so far. The way the professor organizes the content is done really well. The in class discussions were my favorite part of the class as everyone participated together.
Professor Pinder was awesome! Class discussions were always very interesting and it was easy to stay engaged. She is very understanding, cares about her students, and I'd definitely recommend this class!!
Overall, I loved EDUC 275 with Professor Pinder. She did an excellent job of explaining the realities of the American Education System and how to connect them to our lives now so we are better prepared for the future in the classroom. Professor Pinder shared powerful messages and covered very important topics for us to become better educators.
This class is easily one of the best I've ever taken. The professor can be a little intense, but you can tell it's because she cares about the content and about the students. If you're thinking about becoming a teacher, EDUC275 with Professor Pinder is an absolute must.
She is absolutely amazing to listen to and interact with! She has been one of my favorite professors at CSU I have taken. I would highly recommend taking her class if you are willing to be uncomfortable with content and growing in your perceptions of various peoples! The homework is manageable but the in class portion is what matters most!
She is a good professor and she is very funny! The class is fun however I'm not sure how some of the stuff that we did really related to the curriculum. The homework was confusing, but I still feel like I've learned a lot. She is a great person.
This class felt sporadic, she would introduce an assignment, not talk about it for weeks, then bring it up again expecting to know everything despite the poor instruction. She has strong personal views but as long as you go into this class prepared to discuss hard topics and are open to other perspectives than your own, you'll be fine.
This class was so amazing and this professor is so strong and impactful. The lectures that are thought in this class are so impactful and teach you things you're going to be able to take out into the real world. This professor's work was challenging but not impossible. You will love this professor, and there will be lots of laughs in class!
She keeps it real. Inspiring stories from her own life. Really prepares you for the teaching world.
First off, the classroom environment was AMAZING. I genuinely enjoyed coming to class and participating in discussions, and nobody was ever forced to contribute in class. On the other hand, homework assignments were a mess. There was plenty of confusion about what assignments were actually due and when, and the online portal was not helpful.
I highly recommend this class if you are interested in education. As the assignments, we watched several movies about education and discussed specific themes, which was very helpful to understand the education system. Although assignment instruction was unclear and should be modified, you'll be a better educator after completing each assignment.
I loved Professor Pinder. She is an amazing teacher and really cares about her students. I recommend everyone take EDUC 275 with her because everyone can learn something from it. You can tell she is so invested in creating future educators.
I loved this class and Professor Pinder. I learned so many new things and very eye opening material. She truly cares about her students and wants us to grow/succeed. Every class was honestly a giant discussion most of the time and our opinions are valued. Would definitely consider taking this class again! She doesn't believe in busy work.
Ms. Pinder's class was my favorite this semester. She did a great job making sure that we were not overrun with work and made it a very engaging course. The only thing I would have changed was that I wished there had been clearer instructions for some assignments. I would definitely take a course from Ms. Pinder Again.
Professor Pinder was very kind. I enjoyed getting to know her and she was willing to help you no matter what you need it. I liked the class because I felt very included.
This professor openly facilitated transphobic conversations and arguments presented to the class. She would allow students to present obviously awful transphobic ideas and concepts. Later in the semester, she had people take the side and argue as someone who disagreed with trans people in sports. After she saw her RMP, xtra credit was offered. 0/10
You can tell she really cares about her students and her job. Her class is not too much work and is very discussion-based. You have to go to class to pass.
Professor Pinder is very passionate about this class, she led great discussions. I learned a lot from her and now have a different view on education in the United States. There were great group projects and activities that kept class interesting. She was flexible and gave many opportunities to succeed in the class.
Great class and passionate teacher!
Pinder was amazing and I feel like I learned a lot about teaching, but just not as much about the school system in the United States as I would have liked to. the assignments were not very easy, but they also were not too difficult; I have heard she is the best about assignments and do-ability of all the instructors for this course. Very funny.
I absolutely LOVED Ms. Pinder. She pushed fairly controversial conversations but never in a way that facilitated hate, just opposing opinions. She very obviously cares a lot about her students and is very knowledgeable in what she talks about. She works to fit with the class and not make the class fit her. Highly, highly recommend
This professor is the best you'll ever have.
Pinder is an awesome professor! She is very inclusive to all her students and makes sure that the assignments we do in class are inclusive as well. Discussion is always very engaging and she is a very sweet and funny woman who made her class fun every day.
Professor Pinder was outstanding; you learned a lot throughout this class. You dive into some controversial topics at times, but the take aways from this class was well worth the talks we had throughout the course! Professor Pinder cares for her students and their mental health.
I feel bad for all of you who don't get a chance to have Ms. Pinder as your professor. She is by far the best professor I have had. She doesn't expect you to learn the material just to pass the course, rather she spends a lot of time on certain lessons to make sure we fully understand it. I always left the class feeling better prepared to teach.
She was an amazing professor and was able to convey personal experience through her lectures so it was easy to actually learn from her instead of focusing on topics that wouldn't actually matter.
Ms. Pinder is arguably one of the most caring professors (if not THE most caring professor) I have encountered. She truly cares for the growth and development of her students, and she is willing to push them to their limits to see them grow. She is obviously passionate about her line of work, and it truly shows in the classroom.
One of the best professors I've had during my time at CSU. She cares about the education of her students and has been extremely helpful to me during this semester when I was struggling. She is great at what she does and makes class enjoyable while also educational. Having her as a professor will help me succeed as a teacher in the future.
She creates a very welcoming and inclusive enviroment for all her students.
Professor Pinder is excellent. She is very caring and wants the best from all of her students. One of the best things about her is that she is inclusive of everyone's ideas and thoughts. Don't be afraid to speak your mind, as she isn't afraid to answer you in the same way. Assignments are straightforward yet challenging. Great feedback on homework
Professor Pinder has been the best professor I've had at Colorado State so far. She makes her classroom very welcoming and inviting to anyone and makes it known you matter. She cares about your education and your future in education. Her lectures are amazing and inspirational. She has made me realize the teacher that I want to be in the future.
She was absolutely amazing! She shared great insights and real world experiences of being a teacher. You can tell that she cares about each of her students and wants them to be prepared for the world of teaching. Her classes are engaging and she uses a mix of lecture, assignments, and videos. I loved this class and highly recommend it for everyone.
Professor Pinder is an amazing professor. Her class is so informative, and by the end of the semester, you have a great understanding of the education system today and how to succeed as a teacher in this world we live in. This class is so much fun, and I would highly recommend taking EDUC 275 with Professor Pinder if you get the chance!
Pinder is a great professor and her classes are more discussion focused. Her Canvas and grading criteria can sometimes be a little confusing but if you communicate with her and clarify anything that is confusing you'll be fine. She is great at communicating with students and is very understanding. Overall I really enjoyed her class!
She has great life experience in this career that she shares. The work is nothing crazy for a college course and is very manageable. Makes all her students feel safe and sets them up for success.
She knows what she is talking about in class, and knows how to run classrooms K-12 which allows her to give an inside look. She makes her students feel welcome and cared for. The work is not crazy and very manageable if spaced out well throughout the semester
She is very understanding with a lot of humanity when it comes to things out of your control (medical issues, family issues). Her lectures keep a real-world focus instead of repeating the same things we have learned throughout the years. Her insight is something I would take with me into my future as a teacher
Most of the class was spent talking about examples of what can happen in a classroom and how it can be handled. She is very welcoming and cares about her students. Work is manageable throughout the semester, exams are not challenging
Created a space for open dialogue to challenge the ways you think in a way that was respectful, safe, and effective. Never felt like I was having any ideologies pressed on me. One of the best teachers I have ever had.
Ms. Pinder is a great professor. She is very supportive and caring of all her students. She creates an inclusive environment with her lectures and assignments. The materials introduced were very interesting and got me to think outside my own views and be in someone else's shoes. I'm really glad I got to have such an awesome professor !
She is a really kind person, but honestly, this class made no sense to me. I don't really understand how some of the assignments related to schooling in the US. She also was never clear about when assignments are due or what we even have to do for them. She was so sweet and funny, but the class was so frustrating due to lack of planning
Professor Pinder? Total snooze fest. Lectures? Drier than the Sahara. But her views on trans folks? Stone Age vibes. In this day and age, spreading hate? Nah. Find a more welcoming place to learn.
Professor Pinder is a kind and funny person, but there is 0 organization in this class. She does not notify when she has randomly added an assignment or changed the date of one, and she does not communicate well with her students. She will kick you out of the class if you are sick, but then hold that absence over your head and drop your grade.
they where a great teacher would do it again
I love Pinder! She is so sweet and so kind! She is very understanding and welcoming as well. Her assignments are fun and engaging!
She was a really great professor, there were a lot of group projects and writing assignments.
Overall the Class was fun and easy. Almost all the class is lecture-based so if that's not for you prob don't take it. The professor is super cool and I would recommend them.
This course will challenge your personal biases and will require that you work hard to do personal research. I enjoyed the class and exploring how I might have to work harder to change my perspective. You can't just sit back in this class because it is graded by your participation and interaction with other students in the class.
She is very kind and will help students understand something if they are confused.
Veyr funny and nice lady. Just not super clear on expectations or when assignments are due.
Very good class, but takes a good amount of outside work. Professor Pinder is a very good teacher that knows the coursework very well, and although there are a good amount of assignments, she will never overwhelm you. Also has a lot of previous experience and doesn't pull any punches, making it a good class to take for the major.
She is a pretty good professor, leads interesting discussions, but she gives very vague instructions. That being said, she usually grades pretty easily, except for a few big assignments.
This professor teaches mainly through assignments and can be confusing with the expectations in her class but grades pretty easy.
As someone with an IEP, she was always very helpful and respectful of what I needed. I enjoyed how she would share stories about herself and where she came from. Don't bother showing up to class sick because she will send you out of the class.
Pinder is an amazing teacher. She takes time when conflict is arising. Shes very caring and makes you feel welcomed. She truly cares about all her students.
The class was overall good, I enjoyed learning from the professor because she is a really cool and inspirational person. However, as a student in the class it is really frustrating because the professor doesn't have great organizational skills. Many deadlines would be moved or things would be due and she wouldn't tell you about it. Communication!!!
This professor is incredibly caring and understanding to your learning.
Good teacher who cares for students.
I loved this class with Professor Pinder, the only thing is that organization can lack a bit, making it confusing when assignments are due.
Pinder is great! She works with you a lot you just need to have good communication. Class and group project participation is really important. There are larger assignments but due dates change frequently as needed. She is amazing, she's respectful and funny. Has so much life experience she shares.
Pinder is an amazing teacher that will always be caring and understanding of your learning.
I loved this professor, very kind and caring!
Professor Pinder did a great job with this course and made a very inclusive environment as well as as enjoyable course! I really enjoyed taking this class, even though it was not for my major, I found it to be really informative and I feel that I took a lot away from this class. Thank you for a great semester!
I love Mrs. Pinder
Loved this class! The assignments were a little tough at times but she's really good and understanding and will occasionally give a few extra days. Group work is very big and participation as well so it will definitely will push you out of your comfort zone. Instructions were a bit confusing at times but overall awesome class!
Professor Pinder created a great classroom environment. However, this class did not cover much content and the assignment standards were not clear. I enjoyed coming to class but I don't think it was that impactful.
Very knowledgeable and passionate! Loved this class!
Really knows her stuff and is passionate
She was a good professor but the grading criteria was not consistent and she would give some people bad grades on an assignment for missing something and not other who missed the same thing. Very inspirational though
The professor definitely knows how to teach the material, mostly due to her experience with outside areas, and how she uses that to amplify the traits that make up the importance of this course.
A great class if interested in pursuing career within the education system. If not, there's a lot of info you can get out of it about why our school system is so f-ed up
Overall, Professor Pinder's EDUC 275 class is very informative and interesting. However, be prepared for due dates to change the night before a large assignment is due and to always be in good attendance. Very Project based, and a decent amount of public speaking.
She is a great professor and made class fun and interesting!
Dr. Pinder uses a lecture and discussion-type teaching style. She allows us to do lots of group work, projects, and presentations, which I think is more fun than the conventional lecture style. She does a great job of remaining unbiased in the situation, and only presenting facts on "hot topics".
Professor Pinder has been really great this semester! She uses a lot of personal anecdotes in her lessons and lectures which is extremely helpful when talking about difficult topics. I feel like I have learned a lot from this class and would definitely take another class with her.
Very understanding of opposing views in class, and encourages differing views to be voiced. Keeps classroom safe for all students to share what they think. Has the goal of teaching open mindedness to all students throughout the year. Very encouraging to those who are hesitant to share their views. Long lectures, but informational and heavy.
Professor Pinder is a great teacher who is leading the future of educators who are passionate about multicultural education. She has a positive attitude with a hint of humor and sarcasm that makes her class a joy to be in, even among the tough topics discussed throughout the course. Overall, fantastic class, and a great professor.
Professor Pinder is lovely! She cares so much about what she teaches, she has so many experiences to share in her time as an educator, and she does everything possible to create a kind and welcoming classroom environment. Group projects get you out of your comfort zone a little but overall, they're really great.
Really sweet lady and her class is really fun. The only thing about her is that sometimes due dates and specifications of assignments were unclear and felt like all of the sudden I had a project due that night. The workload isn't too difficult so even with short notice I was still able to get it done on time and get a good grade
This professor is very lecture heavy and overall did a great job at it. Be prepared to be challenged in the discussions in a respectful and thoughtful manner. Overall, I think that she did a great job conducting this course and this is a great introduction class into the education program.
Professor Pinder was great, I was taking this class to decide on whether I wanted to major in Construction or History teacher, and although the first week of class I decided that I wanted to do construction, this class and professor were too interesting to drop and it became my favorite class. Glad I did not drop it.
This course was one of the most meaningful courses I have taken at CSU. The course was great and all of the materials needed for the class were provided to students on Canvas. If you decide to take this class be prepared for a lot of public speaking and group discussion.
275 is meant to teach you how to keep your job and approach American political issues within the primary/secondary classroom. Professor Pinder's approach leans heavily on her outside perspective coming from another country. I think this is beneficial and a unique learning experience. Canvas could be used more efficiently.
Pinder is amazing at grabbing attention during lectures. She has lots of experience, and class with her is a unique and wonderful experience. However, You have to stay on your toes to look out for assignments because organization is not a strong asset in this class.
Make sure you do your work and come to class prepared!! This class is pretty discussion and group work based, so if you don't know what you're doing it's pretty difficult. Overall Professor Pinder was super nice and understanding and I enjoyed this class.
Professor Pinder is a super nice professor! She cares about her students and does her best to support each student individually and ensure they pass her class. She is relatively disorganized, and it's often hard to know what her expectations are on assignments, but she's always available to clear things up over email or in person.
I took this online class as a Business major elective and spent more time on it than my core courses. Weekly, there were 4-5 assignments, often graded late or inconsistently. The professor's communication was frustrating, with rude feedback and grade errors. She demanded high standards but failed to meet them herself, making the class unenjoyable
Amazing person, really cares about her students, but her native language is Bahamian English and she is very reliant on ChatGPT to create lectures and navigate Canvas and emails. As a result, the Canvas page is somewhat disorganized, assignment instructions can be hard to find, and lectures don't often teach much.
