Ale, ale, alejandro!!!
This man is the greatest math teacher I have ever had!!!!
Honestly one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He's very laid back and is always willing to help if you don't understand something. The homework he gives us is very manageable and one topic with what was learned in class. I seriously suggest taking his class.
The single best math teacher I have ever had. If he is an available professor for one of my future classes I will build my entire semester around his class. Incredibly helpful and always available for students. He wants to make sure that you understand the material he's teaching.
Awesome professor! He always takes time to make sure you understand what is going on. He has a good humor too!
He is the best professor for math 165, I wish all the professors were like him. He is super friendly and very helpful.I really love him a lot.
He is the best Calculus professor at Iowa State. He is super friendly and is very excellent with his students. His mentality is for his students to gain and learn something from the class. That is all he cares about. He wants students to succeeded with all his heart and that is why he is the bombdizel! Go Argentina and Messi
He is helpful and means well, but this class was not clear to me at all. He made assumptions that we knew about teaching math but we don't. This is our first math methods class. He was far less prepared than the other instructors when we did field work. I'm sure he was a great math teacher, but not so much at teaching people to teach.
By far my favorite professor. He made taking calc an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.
Best professor I've had, best math teacher I've had. He wants you to understand why you do what you do, not just how to get the answer. He's an approachable guy, and he's very willing to help in class, after class, or in office hours. Plus, he's just a cool guy to be around.
Alejandro is probably one of the best, if not THE best calculus professor here at Iowa State. He makes math enjoyable and easy to understand. He provides reasoning as to why you need to know calculus. Also, he is a very good resource to use when getting in to higher level math. Get to know him personally, he's an awesome resource when you need help
Calculus is not easy for more than half of the engineering freshman who haven't taken the class in high school. Well thanks to Alex calculus is behind me now. He does not only have an amazing teaching style, he also doesn't let his students fail if he understands that you know the material. He is the definition of a good teacher.
I am just terrible at math and Alex made it very easy for me to pass a course that I otherwise would not have
Alex literally saved my semester in math 196. I didn't understand ANYTHING when I took it with a different instructor and with him he takes the the time to ask you whether you understand and goes over problems and everything BEST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD!
I have taken both Calc 1 and 2 with Alejandro, best decision ever. He makes the material interesting and easy to understand. He is a great resource and is more than willing to help you, even if you are in a different section. He has a specific set of office hours but he will make time for you if he is already in his office.
A fantastic professor. He really prepares you for the midterm and final, and really wants to see everyone in his class succeeds.
Great professor, teaches without making lectures seem like lectures
Professor Andreotti really supports every student. He makes sure he has time in his office to address every student's needs, and even spends time at night to go over questions via email.
Alex is an amazing professor! He is always there for his students- even though he has tons needing to see him (since he teaches calculus and diff eq), he will still see the elementary ed students. He understands that some things in life happen, and he truly cares about his students. He is always checking in on them. Tests are open note. No textbook
Great teacher for Calculus I. Funny and helpful and encourages you to come to his office hours with any questions you have. Very willing to help.
If you dread calculus, take it with Alex. Knows how to teach and only moves forward after resolving any confusion in class. Doesn't treat you like a moron if you don't understand a concept,SO SPEAK UP. lf you can't pass his class then blame it on a poor background in math because he is excellent. Do the homework/use office hours/DO NOT SKIP CLASS
He was a great teacher who made math easy to understand and made lectures fun to attend. I would definitely recommend him!
Alex was wonderful, and I'd take another class with him in a heartbeat. He really made sure that you truly understood the material and really cared about his students' success. I would take Alex's class again in a heartbeat. He really prepares you for the departmental midterm/final, too, so make sure to go to class and pay attention when there.
Best teacher I've had here at Iowa state in my first year. Really wants everyone to succeed and it shows because his classes consistently do better on the midterm and final than other sections of Math 166. Be sure to go to class everyday because he notices your effort and will be willing to put as much time into you as you put into his class!
Has great lectures. He actually cares about you and teaches the material in the easiest way possible. Prepares you for the tests and is just a great person overall. 10/10 would recommend just don't make small mistakes (He throws chalk)... not really though.
Literally the best professor I have ever had. He really makes sure everyone knows the material before moving on. Our class average for the midterm was 23% higher than the departmental average. He gives really good reviews before the tests and always responds to emails quickly. He is also funny and relates to his students. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Alex is literally the best math teacher here at Iowa State. If you show up to class with open mind to learn the material and ask question you should be able to do well in the class. Would definitely take his class again, don't make silly mistake or he may or may not throw chalk at you (ps he threw it at me).
Alex is amazing. Never had a better math teacher. Calc 2 was easy with him and he cares so much about you understanding the material. He will work with you as much as he can in and out of class. Do the homework and you will pass the class easily. He tells you what you need to know for tests. Super nice guy!
Very good at explaining things. Best professor I ever had in my life. I would die to have him again.
Best professor I've ever had! He lets you go into his office hours for a chance to gain back some lost points on exams. Super nice and funny. Very personable. Never pass up an opportunity to have him as a professor.
Awesome guy!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! he is so helpful and nice. He always always makes time for his students, it doesn't even matter if you are not in his section, he is very open to help you regardless.
Alex is honestly the best professor alive. He makes the material (which is known to be extremely difficult) soo easy to understand. He also tries very hard to connect with his students in any way possible. If you are hesitating with the decision to take this class, you will have no issues with this professor.
If you actually want to understand what calculus 2 is all about and how/why we use it, take his class. He breaks everything down so it's easy to follow along. No other Mathematics instructor at ISU even comes close to this guy.
Andreotti is a great professor! In our lecture hall (of 100+ students at least) he knew almost everyone on a first name basis. He is truly a caring professor who wants his students to succeed. That being said, be prepared and study hard or, even with the best professor, you will not succeed, but if you want the best chance, take Andreotti.
The best professor I've ever had and probably the best I'll ever have. It was a hard class but if you have him you should be fine if you go to lecture and put the work in.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He is super caring about his students and takes the time to make sure everyone is understanding the material and involve students in the lecture. Easy to access outside of class in office hours and allows for points to be given back on quizzes/tests if you attend office hours. TAKE HIS CLASS.
Alex is an amazing professor who tries extremely hard to make sure you understand the material. He also went out of his way to learn the name of every student in my 150+ student lecture. He explains the reasoning behind a lot of the concepts and makes sure students ask lots of questions. Highly recommend for Calc 2
AMAZING PROFESSOR!!! if you think calc 2 is hard, he makes it so much easier just with the way he explains things. If you're going to take this class, take it with him. I had a lecture of about 200 people and tried so hard to get onto a first name basis with us all, he truly cares. I did better in Calc 2 than Calc 1, and it's cause of him.
Have him for Calc 1 and he is by far one of the best professors out there! He doesn't just lecture the students, but he calls on the class to help him finish problems so we stay more involved and awake! Tip: DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!!! Buy the my mathlab access code, of course, and you will get a digital copy of the book for nearly 1/4 of the price!
Alex is by FAR the best math prof I have had at Iowa State. Super easy to understand and makes the class actually understandable. If you you have to take calc 2. GET ALEX. You will not regret.
Hes a cool dude
Alex is an awesome professor. He really cares about students and wants them to succeed. All tests and quizzes are open note, so attendance is important. There is no textbook for this class. He is also really funny and wants the class to be fun. There is almost no homework. There isn't a timeline for the course so we can go at our own pace!
Alex is by far the most amazing professor I have ever had! He is kind, very understanding, and he makes me want to be a better teacher! :)
I love Alex so much. He is probably the best professor I have ever had in my life. He teaches the class SO well and actually cares about his students. I honestly have never felt more prepared for a final exam. Seriously take any math class with him, you won't regret it. He also knows your name within the first week of class!
Best professor I've ever had!
Alex is awesome. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He took the time to know the names of almost every person in our large lecture hall. He is very good at explaining concepts because he focuses on understanding rather than memorization. Super easy to talk to. Office hours are very helpful as well!
Alex is one of the best professors I have ever had. He cares so much for his students and their success, he even knows every ones name in a 200 person lecture hall within the first two weeks. His test are straight forward but do under prepare you for the midterm and final since he does not gt to write them. Overall I love him so much!
With out a doubt one of the best proffessors I've ever had, Very nice and explains the material in an understandable way. He made calc I very manageable.
Professor Andreotti actually cares about you. He learns all of the students names in lectures of 100+ students. I do not have him for MATH 166 but he still offers to help me! Do whatever it takes to get this man! I really believe that he is the best professor at Iowa State.
Alejandro is the best math professor you will ever have. He cares about his students and has an incredible ability to keep everybody engaged in class. I learned all the material and actually understood it perfectly and I am not even that good at math.
Nothing but love for this man. Motivates you to show up to class and participate in lectures. Only professor I have had so far at IA State to learn my name. He deserves a medal. Wish he taught more classes for my major. Take his classes if you strive for success. This man will not let you down.
Outstanding guy. Really cares about us students, learns your name, and would do anything to make sure you know the material. He explains concepts on a fairly basic level, so that you basically work from the ground up. I wish more professors would teach like him. Really the only way to learn a difficult subject like calculus is with him!
Incredible professor. Excellent at explaining the material in the most simple way possible. The best math professor at Iowa State. He will work with anyone for however long it will take to make sure they understand the material. The material is hard, but its very possible to be successful with a professor like Alex.
Honestly, the best professor at Iowa State. Had him for Calc 165 and he was super helpful and made the class easy. Got a different professor for Calc 166 and struggled but he still invited me to his office hours and helped me pass the class. Love this man.
Alex is one of the best professors here at Iowa State. Period. Very knowledgeable, fair, patient, genuinely wants his students to succeed and is very witty too. If you get the chance to take a class of his, do yourself a favor and sign up.
Alex is straight up one of the best professors at Iowa State. He takes time to learn everybody name in lectures of 200 people. I had him for 165 a year and a half ago and he still remembers my name. All of his tests are straight forward and test you on the material he's taught you. If you ever have a chance to take a class with Alex do it 100%
Professor Andreotti is a great professor who is also really funny. He teaches things his own way, and it feels like you aren't learning as much as the rest of the department. However, I got an A on the departmental final without studying too much, so clearly he knows what he is doing. His tests are easy if you go to class making this an easy A.
Someone needs to erect a statue of this man in the center of Carver Hall. Best professor I've ever had. I could literally walk into his office whenever and he would be more than willing to help me (even if Messi had a soccer match that day). Partial differential equations is not an easy topic but he taught it in a way that made it easy to learn.
Brilliant man, learns everyone's name in a 200 person lecture, that BDE. Gives plenty of time to make sure everyone understands the material and tests/homework are not too cumbersome and very useful.
Great professor. Gets to know you by name and really cares that everyone understands the topics. Doesn't try to trick you on exams.
Alex the GOAT. Made DiffEQ manageable for me. He really wants to see you succeed, but won't just give it to you. If you put in just a little effort, it will go a long way.
Lectures are OK. He does a lot of in-class participation stuff, which may not be to your taste. Powerpoint isn't a great way to teach math, but its ok. He supplements it well with handwritten work on his iPad. Very nice prof, though, and the class is pretty easy. If you show up, you should be able to pass.
Can't say enough good about Alex. He cares so much about whether his students actually learn, he's super funny, and he explains things in such an understandable way.
One of Iowa State's best professors! He is also considerate of other's time.
Andreotti has to be one of my favorite professors at Iowa State. His lectures were fun and interactive, building the concepts up from things you already knew. He made it his goal to learn everybody in the whole section's name, and would tell you exactly what type of problems would be on the tests. Easy A if you do homework and go to class!
Great teacher he is willing to take the time to meet with you. he was able to explain the concepts in a way I was able to understand and relate back to in life. I would recommend him tp any one needing to take a math class.
Does not help whatsoever. Don't take an online class with him if you need extra help in math.
Alex is my favorite teacher I've had in college.
He was one of my favorite professors so far. Extremely funny and friendly. Tries to learn everyone's name even with 300+ students. Understands that math is complex and strives to have his students apply it. Even though math wasn't my favorite topic to learn, Alex created an environment to learn and made me feel like I could do it!
Alex loves math. He very much enjoys his students and reciprocates respect. He is very understanding when it comes to late work. The grade is weighed heavy on homework and exams. Homework is very easy if you go to class. Very genuine with his students and respects them. Going to class helps with exams too. The more you attend the better you'll do.
Hes a great professor but the PowerPoints make it really hard to learn from. I did most of my learning from the homework. The test arent too bad
Very nice and understanding. Uses top hat to occasionally take attendance for a grade.
Made time for any student that asked. Reopened assignments that had poor grades, and made sure everyone understood material before moving on.
The best professor I've had so far. He tries to get to know everyone's name in a large lecture and never makes you feel bad for answering a question wrong. He randomly calls on students during lectures though. Tests are super easy, only 5-6 questions, and 3 per semester. Weekly homework on Aleks, weekly recitation with group projects, uses Top Hat.
One of my favorite professors I have had so far. Andreotti gets to know everyone by their first name and makes learning comfortable. He is not a harsh grader and is understanding when it comes to late work. Made tests less anxiety-inducing and easy. He is also very accessible outside of class. Overall, a very caring and intelligent guy.
Alex is one of my favorite professors so far. I had his class at 8am three days a week & I never missed a single time because of how much I enjoyed the learning atmosphere he created. He takes the time to get to know students by name & he treats us as equals ("you're a grown up" was one of his most used phrases). His class was fun & informative.
Alex does a great job of making math easy to understand for non-math-minded people. He always explained problems like "stories" that made them easier to follow. He makes an effort to interact with students throughout the whole class and is good at learning names. There are TopHat points each class period to encourage attendance. Exams were easy.
Best math teacher in general I have ever had in my whole life. I already knew a lot of concepts before taking this class so it was mainly review but Prof. Andreotti is so good at teaching and not to mention he is so nice. He makes it his mission to learn everyone's name in our 200+ person class. He is great
Alex is a great professor and he makes his lectures enjoyable and keep you focused in the entire class. He makes it his goal to learn all the students in his lectures and he is very accessible outside of class. When you visit him during office hours he is very welcoming and he will drop everything he is doing to help you out.
Favorite professor so far, super nice let me extend homework because I was having trouble with it and always tries to help. Super smart as well somehow he got most people who attend lectures names down which I found very impressive.
Understood that this was a class of non-majors who didn't know math very well. He was super patient and ensured we all understood what was happening during the class. The class is pretty hard if you don't like or aren't good at math, but he is kind to you and doesn't expect you to be on his level of understanding math. Best math teacher I ever had.
Alex is my favorite professor by far. He is so nice and dedicated his students. He makes the class bearable at 8am. Lectures could be a bit confusing but if you ask he will help you, and once it gets to test time he prepares everyone so well. I had him last semester and specifically took this class because he was teaching it.
Alex knew every student's name by the second day, and showed genuine interest in each of us. He is not only the most personable professor I have ever had but he is more focused on you learning the content rather than homework.
He is a caring professor. Other professors should take notes. Just an all around great seeming dude! :)
He has abundant office hours and is available even during non-office hours. I swear that he is teaching a class helping students or sleeping and nothing else. he explains everything very well and in an entertaining way that keeps you engaged. if you are not doing well in his class it is by your choice.
Alex is one of my favorite professors. He learns all of his students' names quickly and is very personable. He always guides you through the content. For this class, we have little to no homework, and you're always able to stay engaged with the class. Taking good notes and asking questions goes a long way. I will always recommend this professor.
This class was pretty easy. You have to go to class to understand the material, but attendance is not mandatory. The notes you take in class are your "textbook". He lets you use all of your notes on every test, including the final, and quizzes. The professor does a great job of making sure that all students understand the material clearly.
Alex is a kind, caring professor. He is great at explaining material, and all of his lectures were straight-forward and easy to understand. The tests were extremely easy. Make sure to give yourself time for the homework, because some homeworks are long, but overall, this class was very easy and Alex was a great professor!
Andreotti is such a great mathematics professor, I highly recommend taking a course through him.
Math140- first half of semester is easy, gets hard out of nowhere second 1/2. Pay attention especially if you didn't take math senior year of HS and ur a little rusty. Great lecturer, he will answer your questions during class if you raise your hand. ALEKS math program is annoying, pissed me off a lot, but it's ok. Final is optional which is nice.
Great teacher! Will give points back after exams so go visit him!!
Does a great job of making lectures entertaining and interactive. His lectures were helpful but you learn a lot by doing the HW. He's funny and doesn't focus on unnecessary math terms that other professors tend to focus on too much.
Dr. Andreotti made math so easy and understandable. The assignment expectations are reasonable and manageable. He was personable & friendly, making sure to know people's names and check in with students regularly. The pacing is very natural, allowing time for questions and elaborating on tough topics. I enjoyed the lectures, as he's very funny.
Professor Andreotti makes math surprisingly enjoyable. His lectures are engaging, and he ensures everyone understands the material. The workload is reasonable, and he's very approachable. I found unstuck study helpful for preparing for exams.
