Great Prof! His midterms and finals are a breeze, and no boring papers!
This teacher was truly excellent. I think it's dismissive to say his class is easy since he wouldnt let you slide without knowing the material, but he DOES make it very easy to get to know the material well! I'd take a class with him again in a minute!
very easy, nice guy
awesome professor. knows his stuff. teaches material in a interesting way. relates to/understands students. not too much work. cool sense of humor.
he's great; only a fool would fall asleep in his class.
He is my favorite teacher. He is not boring at all and does not overload you with papers. You will have to write one but you really learn in his class.
he may be cool, great sense of humor and all, but he is tough, always asking questions, making you think.sometimes he is a little too political.he is hot!!!
He's very easy. One small paper and some easy tests. If you take this class and do the bare minimum you will probably get an A or a B
He is warm and funny, and really knows his stuff and he admits of not knowing all the answers, which is so refreshing! He has a great filthy mouth and he really makes you think about what images mean, when they were made and today. He is also a sexy guy.
I used to HATE art history. But I loved this class. He made the subject matter interesting. The class was lively and everyone participated because they WANTED to. Highly recommend him!
Interesting, knowledgeable, humorous, but he should keep his political comments and views to himself.
This guy is top notch. He is knowledgeable and interesting to listen too. I will definitely take another class with him if I can. Very fair and not too much work to do.
Watch out for his grading, does not take attendance, has no way to grade on participation and is very boring to listen to his monotone. No doubt that he knows his stuff and you will learn if you can overcome the boring delivery.
I really like his teaching style. I have taken 2 classes with him and will take more in the future.
great class, never boring. Very knowledgable
One of the best teacher I ever had. Very inspirational ehen it comes to art, keeps the class interesing and funny. Highly intelligent, knows alot of stuff.Hates Bush :-) Take him.
He takes attendance and gives out a clearly written syllabus on the first day! He does not just lecture,he wants us to understand what works of art mean, their time and place. Still sexy for an old guy too!
he seems easy but is hard.wants you to know stuff not in the book. uses fancy words like critical and visual literacy.very political, i think he is some sort of comie.girls think hes cool.hes a skinny guy with an accent.
Dr. A. is a really cool guy. Never boring and knows his stuff.Great sense of humor. Class is alot of fun and at some point you are aware that you are learning. Hated art history until his class. Take him.

friendly guy, knows what he's talking about

the lesser of the two evils in latin american studies. he was ok, nice and easy going, and a lenient grader sometimes.
In the beginning, it was a very intimidating class, but it ended up being a ral comfortable class where I learned a lot. You have work to do, but if you keep up with the readings and start the paper early, you'll get a good grade.
another one who cant turn in our grades on time
lazy .. needs to pay attention to the deadline to hand in grades
gREAT TEACHER. tEACHES YOU TO THINK FOR YOURSELF.kNOWS HIS MATERIAL REALLY WELL, MOVES BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN HISTORY, ART, LITERATURE.pRETTY HOT TOO:COUPLE OF US FANTASIZED ABOUT HAVING HIS BABY.
Wow - great teacher. Knows his stuff. Brings in the facts, not like Shapiro with his poetry bull.Best lecture on Goya ever. Girls in class think hes hot.
He is quite intelligent but 3 aspects should be mentioned: Art/Music/Lit. Not all think he's hot or want to have his kid= have a higher IQ than the rest. Prof is vain/arrogant/not open to new concepts & too intimidating at times when he brings a student to tears= his close minded ideas yet creative.
great professor makes the class enjoyable and fun, very helpful and not imdimidating if you ask him for help. also funny
In spite of a nut job in this class who gave him a hard time, Dr. A. is a terrific teacher. Knows his stuff, is helpful and has a great sense of humor.Class is not his personal therapy like Shapiro!
At first he seems easy, but he is not. Demands alot of thinking and talking. He is helpful and very clear. Lectures on Picasso,Mexican muralists and surrealism was worth the price of admission. Sexy too.
I think he is a great professor, not intimidating at all and he really knows his stuff. Doesn't give a lot of work , easy exans
What about creative thinking?! Think he's super intellectual but fails in comparison to his superior- Shapiro who he will never compete with or become in a million years= Thank God we have one Ivy League professor who is saving the art history dept from ruin!! Beware if you cross him as he is quite vindictive&will humiliate u.
Anreus is first rate - teaches you the material and demands real thinking from students. Not even on his best day can Shapiro come up to his level!Shapiro is a good poet, but does not have a doctorate in art history. Anreus is tough on lazy or crazy students who complain and don't do the work.

cool and down to earth. easy to talk to. easy to pass. he tells you what your tests will contain. never seen him get mad
Wish more students could enter into the extremely popular Picasso class. There should be more contemporary/non-western 300+ art history classes available to take as electives. This teacher is very intellectual, helpful, patient and understanding. How about a Surrealism or Impressionism class for 1/06 in a larger lecture hall?Or multi-cultural art one
so soo awesome
Prof. Anreus is a really good teacher, no bs, doesn't just lecture but carries on a conversation with you, with whole class. Knows Picasso without hero worship at the same time makes sure we understand how important his contributions are. Good sense of humor. Kind to students.
Cool teacher. Great sense of humor. Teaches you not just the history but the culture. Helps you see how awful the US has been to Latin America, but also the problems of Latin American politics. Knows his films and visual stuff. He is a little hard in that he makes you think and speak in class. Treats students with kindness and respect. Take him.
He is a nice man. Everyone should take one of his classes at least once in their lives.
Heard this class is awesome. Hope it doesn't get canceled as is the rumour. Someone should go to the Dean and make it clear how important a well rounded art/liberal/multicultural education is for the college student. This professor is fair, quite educated in the subject matter, published many books on the topic& is always there for the student 24/7.
He is a good professor...at first he may come off tough, but he teaches art well and makes his test so that it is possible for the student to pass...
awesome guy
this homey is the best, tough cause he makes you tsalk, but you learn plenty from the man.
For the most part clear but accent is confusing at times. Essays should be included on final in all fairness.Too much to know for finals but everything is stated about what is to be expected for the most part. Funny but then corny on occassion-is flexiblewants student to succeed- good teacher but one should not call hima homey which isdisrespectful
Very interesting man and definitely makes you love the material. He is not hard and his classes go by fast. Very fair grader!
Nice guy. midterm is identifying paintings shown in class, 1 paper on a museum visit compare/contrast 2 works of art. final was take home. Knows his stuff, doesnt like BS in ur writing, just to the point. Lets u out early usually for the 3 hour classes. Dont diss the accent! its sexy! lol
Modern Art - ... by far the best art history professor i have taken. keeps you interested in the material and teaches you a lot! very fair grader ... expects you to go to class and participate, but its a great class. definitley going to take him again and would reccommend him to anyone...
Great Professor and knows everything about what he is teaching. I had him for modern art and it was like he knew everything about the history of the paintings he was teaching. He his also funny sometimes. I would recommend him as a teacher. The only problem I had was that he let the class out at the exact time it was suppose to be let out it wa
tHE BEST. iNSPIRING.KNOWS HIS STUFF.TEACHES STUDENTS TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.VERY POLITICAL, YET LOVES PAINTING - THIS COMES ACROSS.CAN DO FORMAL STUFF AND THEN SOME.HIS LECTURE ON MONDRIAN IS PRICELESS.CUTE ACCENT.
One of the best professors at WPU. I had him for Modern I and II. Really smart, has a sense of humor, isn't stuffy or snobby or completely ridiculous. Expects you to actually think about the material. I kind of wish he taught all of my classes.
HE IS THE BEST PROF. @ WPU. i have to take another art class and i am waiting for an opening in his class- enough said. makes subject very interesting- funny guy- makes you see art in a whole new perspective. awesome teacher- easy mid term and finals- he reviews everything with you- like 10 slides to describe and your done.
This class was great! The professor is really interested in the material and is very intelligent. Even if your not interested in Art, which I was not the class is definitely manageable. There is only a midterm, final, and one essay. Great professor...take him!
He is a great prof. He knows his stuff and he makes art history interesting, he is very down to earth, has the mouth of a truck driver, and the hottest accent (its not hard to understand him at all though). Although he is an older man he is definitely a hottie. Great teacher and fair grader. Class consists of 2 test (mid-term and final)& a paper
It's still the beginning of the semester, but seems like the guy know what the hell he's talkin about(which is a rarity at WPU). Anyhow, come to class, "be engaged" and do the work and you'll pass the course. He also makes references to movies when comparing works of art -- very good method if you don't really understand the subject.
He is defintitely a great professor. He knows his stuff and is very helpful. He tells you exactly what will be on the exam in the review, but you also need to take good notes. On Midterm he gives you 16 images to remember and you only need to know 12. He wants you to know style, date, artist and title of work, plus some info about it. EZ A
prof A is awesome, his class was super interesting and very easy to do well in. he knows the subject inside and out and he is a really laid back and pleasant guy. take him!
He tells you attendance is mandatory but i hardly went to class && got a B- , the tests are easy && he is an understanding teacher...RECOMMENDED !
I actually graduated from Willy P in 2004. The other day I found a test from Professor Anreus's Modern Art class in my attic(got an A on it)and I immediately remembered totally enjoying his class. The ratings here are accurate, he takes class seriously, expects decent feedback, and you get a good grade in return. Glad to see he's still at Willy P.
You must purchase the book, expensive. Prof. Anreus lectures and expects class participation. Mid-term/final and a 5 page paper. You will have to visit an art museum for the paper. You have to memorize a lot for the exams. He really knows this subject inside and out. The class was interesting, but could get a little boring.
Modern art if I messed up. Most I have ever learned from an art history class. Night course but he makes it interesting/the class is shorter (like 2 hours instead of 240). Fantastic professor but he is a difficult grader. You are a college student, you are here to learn so take a teacher like him who will make you want to be a college student.
Very intelligent and pleasant to be around.
Very intelligent and helpful. As long as you attend every class and take notes on the things he emphasizes. You will get an A. He gives few written assignments so if you miss one it could hurt your grade a lot. He makes the class very easy
He is funny. He kind of scares you at first by saying he grades kind of hard but I got an A. I took notes, participated a lot, studied and for the papers, I just answered everything he asked. He is handsome and charming as well :)
His class is boring and requires you to attend not being absent more than 2 times, it's such a boring course and he talks too much, everything about this class is uninteresting and a waste of time.
Best class ever - perfect for Latino students... Very knowledgeable, simple and down to earth... loveeee my Tuesday night class thanks to him!
attended every class, aced the exams, didn't get the grade I deserved... lame.
Very knowledgeable about what he's talking about. Quite interesting if you're into art history. Requires you know more about each piece than most professors in the department would. Two papers total (a one page and an eight page research) plus midterm and final. Tests requires identification and five bullet points per piece, so pay attention.
He's incredibly direct and clear. You don't have to speak in class, but it will improve your grade. His exams are comparisons between images. Really study the material and force yourself to be interested. Sometimes lets you out early. Outside of class, he's a bit rude and doesn't care about you.
Professor Anreus is one of the most amazing teachers I have ever had. He's engaging, clear-cut, doesn't sugarcoat at all, and gives background info and in-depth answers to questions. I have taken several courses simply because he teaches the class. Depending on the course he may assign semester papers (1-10-15pg) or little essays (4-5 2pgs).
I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR. He made art history 10x more interesting and isn't afraid to state his opinion & listen to others respectfully. He is EXTREMELY intelligent in multiple areas & goes above & beyond to see you succeed & do well. Class consisted of midterm, research paper & final.. NO OTHER ASSIGNMENTS. Easy A people! Show up & take notes
Awesome professor and advisor! Definetly take his class!
He's a great professor! His lectures do go on for a while but the material is interesting and if you participate, it'll surely boost your grade. he only gives a midterm, one paper, and a final but his review sheets are helpful.
My favorite professor wish I could take him every semester
He's AMAZING. you don't even need to buy the book. just pay attention in class --btw, you won't even fall asleep because he gets you sooo into the moment. You won't regret it!
He is such a gem! I loved all the classes I took with him.
The BEST professor in my entire college profession. I even took Mexican Art with him because I wanted to have him as a professor again. He guided me throughout my entire college process. His study guides are SPOT on, his lectures do go on but he makes you EXTREMELY interested in everything he lectures. He has a passion like no other for the arts.
Prof A is a fantastic professor. He is very kind, considerate, and approachable. With that being said, the class is extremely boring. Probably the most boring class I have ever taken in my entire academic career. Easy grader with few assignments. Required us to buy the textbook but we did not touch it once.
A great story teller and engaging to listen to. Need to complete a paper, midterm and a final (which are open notes)! The Professor is kind and very understanding. Definitely would take him again :)
prof. Anreus made art history so interesting and engaging. His tests were open notes and had really great study guides. One term paper for the semester. I loved his class and he is a character! He requires a text book but all you really need to do is pay attention and take notes in his class and you can go without it. 100% recommend!
Honestly one of the greatest Professors I have ever had. He truly cares about the students, art, and especially helping young Latina/Latino students find the beauty in their culture.
guy cool, easy A, tests are open book/laptop, take this
