Dont take this teacher, save yourself the headache.
Great lecturer, she gets a lot of information across quickly and effectively. Very fair with grading.
Not helpful at all. Make sure you know the experiments backwards and forwards.
Absurd teacher. Tests are ridiculous. She is not helpful at all, save yourself the frustration and get yourself a real teacher for the class.
I had Alex for bio 2 lab, and I thought she was a good teacher. its not a easy class, but she does not intentionally make it harder. The exams are straight forward, all memorization. she offers extra credit, and if she sees that your trying and show up, she will help you out. its all memorization.
Had her for Bio Lab 1. I strongly recommend taking it with another teacher. She does not explain at all. Tests are memorization. Extra credit is 1 point and know how to spell her last name.. really. save yourself and look for another teacher.
Great professor, she is very helpful and she grades very generously. I noticed when she goes off topic during lecture, she makes it quick and relevant. I highly recommended this professor.
I took anatomy and physiology lab with her. Great teacher, tells us exactly what was going to be on the practicals and helps you if you have questions.
Fun. To the point. Very nice.
She is a very nice and helpful teacher, as long as you show up to class you will get a good grade.
Please i do not advise anyone to take this teacher. She expects you to know everything, does not take the time to help her students and test are very hard i had to withdraw from her class. I took her for biology lab big mistake.
DO NOTTTTT TAKE THIS TEACHER ! if you like to learn in class and dont want to be confused with the teacher mis guiding words DONT TAKE HER!! what she gives you to study is NOT on the test! She is horrible at explaining things, she switch topics and makes lame jokes! do yourself a favor and SAVE YOUR GRADE!!
Very nice Professor. You will have to study and its best to show up to class, if not you will miss test items that are only mentioned in class. She is very fair with grading and I enjoyed her for lecture.
Highly recommend taking her classes. She does her best to help you succeed in the class, and actually have you leave learning something other than test material. She tries her best to keep your attention during lectures with cracking jokes every now and then. Anyone who does not enjoy her class is defiantly looking for an easy A.
Plain and simple she sucks!! I graduated H.S many years ago and never used microscopes and such she refused to teach me how and her answer to all questions is you need to know this for the test! Without any explanation for your question. Learn from my mistake take someone else. I am an A student and worked hard but she refused to teach. :(
If you are looking for an easy "A" this is not the class. Test reviews are reviews on what you should know about the chapter covered not what the test is like... She's very helpful. Class in general is a lot of info. You need to study. No other way around it. Which is good because you do learn. She really cares and she's funny.
Miss S. is a great Professor. The class isn't easy because the body is complex, but Miss S. doesn't make it harder for you. She is very helpful and answers with a genuine desire to help you understand. There's lots of reading and studying and you won't get an A unless you study! I would pick Miss S. in a second for any future classes. She rocks!
Miss S. is a fabulous Professor. Anatomy Lab isn't an easy class so you will have to study for practicals. She is very helpful and always has time for questions. She's funny and generates a positive learning environment. She also posts grades very quickly! I wouldn't hesitate to take Miss S. again for any subject she would be teaching.
Plain and simple do not take her for A&P 2. She reads right off of the power points word for word! Even though she is helpful, the way she teaches is so boring! For such a complex class you need a professor who keeps you interested. I dreaded every day of her class. With me being a nursing major it was very disappointing to me. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Ms.S is a great professor!! She is clear on what will be on the exam & gives extra credit. She is always willing to help and answer all your questions. The class material is not easy but if you STUDY it pays off.Highly recommend her!!
Mrs S, is a super professor, she is caring, wants you to succeed. Will take the time to answer any questions. Gives a full written pp review for practicals. This class is not easy, but if you are present and take the time to study the material, with all the extra credit there is no reason why you cannot get an "A". She ROCKS!
I actually really enjoyed Bio 1 Lecture with her. She is a great teacher, very funny and clear on what she is giving on the tests. She gives a lot of extra credit and wants her students to pass. She really does care about her students & their needs. I am taking her again next semester for Anatomy and Physiology and I'm very excited! Take her class!
You have to work to fail this class, or have a complete lack thereof. She gives pop quizzes for extra credit, test reviews, quizzes online are open book and great review. She will continue to go over a topic until it's understood. I opened the book twice for definitions, got a high A, and remember everything. One of the best teachers I have taken.
100% recommend! She is very enthusiastic (and loud so if that bothers you sit in the back) and very kind. She does a lot of extra credit. She is kind of cheesy (candy questions and dorky jokes) but in a very fun way. Hard not to like!
Class was great and easy but shame on you if you send her an email asking a question about the homework! Is very rude with responses. Lighten up lady.
Mrs. Smigelski is a great teacher who cares more about the student learning and understanding the material than the grade they get. She provides power points, study guides, and extra credit. Easy A and you learn a lot. She is a great Biology and Anatomy & Physiology teacher. She is great at her job, but sometimes goes over time with long lectures.
This science is a great class if you STUDY. Mrs. S is so sweet and always willing to help you. There are a few tests, but lowest grade is dropped, and offers extra credit on every test and then some. If you aren't good at science, I would recommend this class because help is always available! She's always very prompt in emailing back as well.
She is truly awesome! Super kind, lectures are easy to understand. There are extra credit questions on the multiple choice tests (50 questions) and also does some assignments that would count for as extra credit. She is just always willing to help out her students and makes the class easier by being funny during class. Good luck in her class!! :)
She is a very by the book teacher, she has Powerpoints created on each chapter and spend classes going over those. The Powerpoints are available on Blackboard throughout the whole semester. If you ask a question she is very willing to help. It helps to come to class because some of the material is not easily graspable.
Really tries to help you out and pass the class. Big on attendance because she lectures for all of class. Not much homework but I would definitely knock out the quizzes once uploaded. Gives extra credit!!!! Go to class and listen and do test reviews and all quizzes and you'll be fine.
Even though she taught Lab, she still went into details on concepts. Explains things really well and will take the time to help you understand. Doesn't let herself get walked over.
This was a tough lab but Mrs Smigelski explains everything in a easy to understand way. She answers e mails VERY quickly. She is very fair in her grading. She cares about her students success and gives test reviews. 2 tests and 1 comprehensive final counted twice. YOU MUST STUDY ALOT TO PASS THIS CLASS!
first, I can say I respect the fact that she isn't super bland & works with you (within her strict limits) as much as she can. she tells & constantly reminds you from day 1 that theres only the 4 test & HW grades that make up your score, so you're definitely slaving for your grade! but she is very nice & does care about the success of her students
This professor is dreadful. She seems caring and will help anyone who asks but most teachers will. She is lecture heavy and all she does is talk talk talk all class... reading the powerpoints which you can get on blackboard! Might as well take it online. No hw which seems great but when you're only graded on exams it makes it difficult.
Professor Smigelski is amazing! Her lectures are extremely helpful and interesting. The study guides are very straight forward so you always know what to expect on the test. She is more than willing to help you before class, after class, during her many office hours or through email. Attendance is counted and will affect your grades over time.
Professor Smigelski is always willing to help out if you need it. She explains the labs clearly and step by step. She is very straight forward with her expectations. The study guides are extremely helpful for the tests which are very straight forward. The lab manual is a must, all she wants to know is that you did the lab and understand it.
Great great great professor!!!! Study review tests online and pass with an A. super sweet and fair grader
She was such a wonderful teacher. I had her for lecture and for lab. I would take her for bio 2 if only she taught the class. She made sure her review were like the tests and the tests werent hard. She had extra credit questions after each test. She offered a few extra credit throughout the semester even though she said she doesnt do extra credit
all she does is read from her power point which I can read by myself at home, she just talks and talks all the time. get ready to go home and figure everything out by yourself using google and youtube. she explained a whole chapter in 10 minutes one time because she had some extra time, and took me 5 hours so study it at home by myself.
Professor Smigelski is a great Professor! She says she wont give extra credit, but she does.. and she gives a lot of it! Shes really cares about her students and wants them to pass! She is very clear on assignments and test.. you have to study to pass this class, its not easy! But she is a great professor to choose!
Excellent professor. She knows a lot about Anatomy and Physiology and the lectures are to the point. A&P lab is tough, but if you put the time and effort into it you should receive an A. Plus her tests have no surprises and have extra credit.
Took her for spring and enjoyed it. She read the powerpoints and made sure we understood the material. Class covers a lot of information and it's up to you to study for the exams but she does provide study guides and mock questions which helps a little. Overall she's a good instructor.
One of the best professors I've ever had!! She's insanely knowledgeable and wants to see her students pass. Her lectures are long but she explains everything really well. She gives out tons of extra credit and study guides for each test.
Professor S was just as amazing in A&P Lecture/Lab as she was in Biology, she gives extra credit for lecture, and is always accessible after class. If you have questions, she always has an answer! After the first test I did not have faith in myself to pass the class with an A like Bio, but she encouraged me and said I can do it! Shes the best!
I read all of these comments before making the decision of selecting her for A&P Lecture, however, she speeds through the material, does not go into further detail about a topic, and only reads off the powerpoint. Although that is mainly what college is, other professors always made sure we understood material before moving forward.
She is great teacher! I took her for biology & currently taking her for A & P. Go to class, take your notes and pay attention. Do her study guides, they are a clear outline of what to expect on the test. Extra credit is given. If you ever need help she has many office hours and is willing to help. She wants you to do well. Need a bio/a&p pick her!!
She is very nice and understanding. Definitely the best biology professor because my friends who take biology with another professor wish they had her. Study for the tests with the test reviews she posts.
She really wants her students to do well, she gives a lot of extra credit that can apply to test grades. Tests are easy she gives test reviews and practice questions that may show up on the tests. She explains everything in detail. If you study and put in the work you can get an A
Professor Smigelski is hands down the best! She cares about her students, makes lectures interesting, gives study guides, study tips, and extra credit! If youre taking Anatomy or Biology Lectures and Labs I definitely recommend Professor S! Shes the bomb!
10/10 recommend. she cares very much and wants you to pass. she give chances for extra credit, attendance being one of them, and gives lot of study tools, including practice tests that usually have the same if not similar questions on the actual tests. if you need this course for your major, i would take her!!!
Love this prof.. she is cool!
I took professor smigelski for lab and lecture and I want to take her for anatomy 2 as well. Best science professor Ive ever had. Shes super understanding and really wants the best for her students.
the best
She's really nice and try's to explain the topics as much as possible. She does go a little fast but you're suppose to come to class already knowing what the lecture will be out. Read the power points before so you are not clueless during class. Extra credit with kahoot quizzes, test corrections, and attendance. I have her for lab too.
Professor Smigelski is literally amazing, she is young and ready to teach with enthusiasm. Her class was easy. She gives study guides and practice questions that are on the test. I took her for summer A and the class was literally so doable. She gives a lot of extra credit. I learned a lot from her and she made learning AP1 fun with all her jokes!
Professor Smigelski, is even more awesome in lab! I took her for summer A and the class was supposed to be from 3-5:45 but she always dismissed class early. I always stayed to go over with her the models which helped me a lot! Her lab practicals are easy as long as you study and go over the models! she grades on completion of lab manual! got 105%
answer the test review questions and you will ace this class.
She is the best. I took her bio and a & p, she was always so helpful and really wanted all her students to d well. Just pay attention and study the study guide plus the review questions and you will do great. 0/10 recommend
I took her for lab and lecture. Her lab class was easily a lot more difficult. Her powerpoints barely help you fill out your lab manual, and I found myself googling a lot to find the answers. All in all though, as long as you study your manual, youll do fine. As for lecture, its really pretty easy. STUDY THE REVIEW QUESTIONS!
Professor Smigelski is a funny, quirky and overall nice lady. Her lectures do get a bit boring and drawn out at times, but that's the nature of Bio. Her tests are averagely difficult, however with a bit of studying it should be easy to pass her class. She offers worksheets, and outside assistance for those struggling.
Mrs. S is really nice and her lectures are pretty short but understandable. There is 4 lab practices and 4 homework. if you study and go to the lab you will do fine. DONT MISS CLASS.
Great professor! Sometimes lectures are a little long but she tries to make bio fun. Her tests are TRICKY, study the slides, read the chapter, and do the worksheets and you'll be fine. Anytime she offers extra credit, DO IT. It will help. BIO 2 is a lot more info than Bio1. Like 5 classes crammed into one. But she awesome. Take her!
USE THE LAB BOOK, OPEN LABS, POWERPOINTS, AND STUDY GUIDE TO STUDY!! This class is all about memorization. Flash cards and printing and filling out diagrams helped me a ton. The practicals are pretty simple. You name the thing being pointed at and its function. That's it. I received a 94%.
I had her for Biology and Biology Lab. I have taken biology before ,and hated it. When I took it with her, it made me consider having a career in biology because I loved her class so much. She teaches in an easy and relatable way. She does not grade based on attendance but you do get extra credit if you do not miss any classes.
Amazing teacher! Gives study guides that is exactly like the test. Some partner discussions but no group projects. Not much homework. If you study, you'll definitly pass. Only grades in the class is the 4 tests and 4 worksheet packets that are due on test day. Super easy class!
Professor Smigelski is one of the best professors I've ever had! Her lectures are clear and easy to understand. She teaches with a powerpoint of everything you need to know. The test material is straight from the powerpionts so studying is easy! She also gives you helpful study guides and LOTS of extra credit opportunities!
She conveys her lectures well and gives you the opportunity to succeed. Not much homework at all but be prepared to study for tests. Gives opportunities for extra credit and plenty of time to learn the material before the next exam. When taken with her lab the course is a breeze and you really do learn a lot. Always helpful as well. Great Prof.
Professor Smigelski's class was so easy. She offers some extra credit, but it isn't necessary because her class is so easy. Her grades constants of homeworks, tests, and quizzes from masteringa&p; however, if you miss a couple of assignments, she won't let you make it up and your grade is going to suffer.
wonderful professor! she offered so many extra credit opportunities and was so nice. i would absolutely take her again if possible. i emailed her about a grading error i noticed and she was so kind about it unlike other professors who would take it as an insult. i really learned in this class unlike others.
Professor Smigelski went above in beyond to help students learn everything they need to know to pass this course. Tests were simply based on everything she went over and fairly easy. She responds quick to emails, gives plenty of extra credit with kahoot games, and provides powerpoints and study guides along with homework that also helps you study.
I took her for bio 2 and lab. Her lectures arent horrible but she can drone on. Super nice lady. She gave a lot of extra credit and dropped lowest test grade for bio 2. Her study guides and worksheets are not really that helpful for the tests. Lab was hard. No extra credit and no drop test. Def had to work for my A but could pass with a B easily.
Professor Smigelski was extremely amazing and was the best professor i have had yet! Make sure you study and she loves giving extra credit! Being Active duty she was extremely helpful and understanding of my situations. 100% would recommend!
Took A&P lab. Definitely not my best work but she is very nice and helpful. Rounds up, which saved me from having to retake this course.
although the material was challenging, professor Smigelski created power points, went over lab manuals, created study guides, and answered all of our questions. there was homework, but it was so helpful and the practicals were straightforward fill in the blanks (you cant spell anything wrong though). shes an amazing professor
Jehovah Shalom Aleichem Students! I suggest any student who wants to take A&P II Lecture comes at IRSC to get it with Mrs. Aleksandra Smigelski. Mrs. A.S will help you to make this course like a game to make sure you understand it, learn, love, and explain to others. She really has a modern pedagogy methods. She is an amazing Instructor!
took her for ap1, good class but the study guides she gives for the exams didn't really help, most of the tests are out of your manual and visible body. but chill prof tho
Professor Smigelski (Prof S) is very awesome, I took her for my Anatomy and Physiology ll lecture & lab and she was nothing but amazing, her lectures are very detailed and straight to the point and makes everything easy to understand. Lots of extra credit, be sure to do her work and you should have no problem passing her class!
Probably my favorite professor I've had so far. I had her for A&P 1, lecture and lab and plan to have her for A&P 2 next school year. She gives great lectures, and it really helped me understand the material. As long as you take the time to study and do all the assigned work, you'll definitely get a good grade.
Professor Smigelski is truly one of the best professors I've had so far! Her lectures are passionate and she is very thorough. She incorporates real-life connections to the topics which makes it a highly engaging experience. If you stay on top of your assignments, do the study guides, and take the extra credit opportunities, you can easily excel.
She is very kind and funny. She pretty much reads off of PowerPoints. I heard she is the best for 2085 but not so much for 2086. Study guides are not helpful. Test is completely different from study guides. Do HW and quizzes there is plenty. Will give you credit for attendance. Offers opportunities but w/ penalties. Email response great. Kahoots!!
Truly one of the best professors I have ever had. her study guides match the test super well. She allows you to have a cheat sheet to assist you during the test. If you ever have any questions or concerns, she is easy to get in touch with as well as being a quick grader. I can't recommend her enough.
Took Life Science with her at IRSC and it was amazing! Super easy A and she made each lecture enjoyable (despite it being 8am). As long as you attend class and take notes you will be set for an A, at least in BSC1005. She is very passionate and knowledgable.
She offers plenty of material to help you understand what's being taught. Took for Summer A (6 week course) and outdid myself. Definitely waiting to take her for AP2 as well.
Just Finished Fall semester with her and she was so nice and caring throughout the course. The practicals were fairly hard but if you look through the notes and actually study you will enjoy the course. Would recommend.
I have 100%'s on almost ever assignment, if not then one question wrong. The practical's in my opinion were not the easiest so that's what unfortunately brought my grade down, however professor smigelski is a good professor, and helps with questions. We used a lab manual every class, and some days we used the microscope.
