Awesome! didn't have it in high school? You many need a refresher. She covers lots of material, but that's Uni standards. She is kind and wants her students to succeed. She learned all our names individually was willing to stay late to help. I failed chem at another college, same material, but she adds a personal element that is great! 1010
Dr. Jennings is a very approachable. The material is tough, but it's college chem. Good at knowing when class is stuck, she'll work through an extra problem. Will stay late to help, and makes an effort to learn every persons name, and does. She does call on students to answer, but don't worry. works with you if you don't know. Good Lady 1010
Honestly hated Chemistry all through High School and dreaded taking Chem at the college level. After having her, she changed my entire outlook on Chemistry. She makes learning the material fun and rather easy. I actually have taken two of her classes and wouldn't mind taking more!
Dr. Jennings was a fantastic professor. I had her for my First-Year Experience USI130 class, and going into it I was expecting to hate the class. Her class ended up being of the best parts of my first semester and if I were a Chemistry major I would totally take her classes.
Professor Jennings has to be one of the sweetest women that I have had the chance to meet while at WCU. I had her last year for my freshmen chemistry class and I wouldn't change anything. Is is always willing to help out when she can. She once gave us test corrections in class and then walked around and helped us figure out the right answers.
There is extra credit. Lots and lots of extra credit. Show up to class, show up to reviews, do the extra credit and it's an easy pass. She is hilarious and makes class interesting. She uses the textbook all the time mandatory to bring to class.
Dr. Jennings was amazing, I had to take chemistry over again and she explained everything clearly. She set up study groups for you to attend and even has review sessions before every test. She is by far one of the best professors I have had.
Very funny and helps any way she can.
Professor Jennings is one of the best professors here at WCU. She is willing to help in any way that she can! She gives extra credit and sets up study groups. We have review sessions before every exam and she goes over the material that is gonna be on the exam. One of the best and wants to see you succeed in every way possible! I strongly recommend
Very helpful. She even host study groups and does everything she can to get you involved an learning.
Dr Jennings is AMAZING! I had her last year for CHEM139. We had review sessions before exams, optional book homework for extra credit, and she bakes cookies for us! She also takes a sincere interest in her students and will help you in any way possible. I still talk to her every time I see her on campus! TAKE HER!!!
She is amazing! So helpful and wants you to pass. She will work hard to get you to understand the material. Love, love, love her! The course material is really hard though!
Probably the best professor I've had here at WCU. She does anything and everything she can to help you pass. After putting her children to bed, She returns to hold review sessions before tests. Extremely hard material though.
Professor jennings is a wonderful mentor and person, I am just not a fan of her teaching ways! I would suggest her to anyone that can stay motivated to work hard enough. She is the most challenging class and professor I have had in awhile and I really worked hard to keep my grade up! Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is if you want to pass.
Her class can be hard but its chemistry. She is one of the greatest professors I've had here at Western.
Professor Jennings is a wonderful human being. She was there for me during a personal dilemma I was having and reassured me. She is kind and compassionate but makes sure you learn something too. She is an absolute gem!
Professor Jennings is a great chemistry teacher, but chemistry is tough itself. She will make sure if you want to pass the class with a certain grade, you will get there. She gives multiple extra credit opportunities and answers all the questions you have in class.
Professor Jennings is an amazing professor. She was always so enthusiastic and willing to help anyone who had questions. She lectures during every class, but she makes sure everyone understands a concept before she moves on. She tells you when you will have quizzes and offers optional review sessions for tests. 10/10 recommend!
Professor Jennings is sweet and so enthusiastic but if you struggle with chemistry and can't learn with a fast pace professor do not take her. Her tests are extremely hard!!! and she has review sessions before exams but they didn't help me very much. She goes so fast and for me it was just hard to learn with her.
Professor Jennings is the best professor at WCU. She made Chemistry a lot of fun and I actually enjoyed going to class. She does everything she can to help her students including reviews before tests, extended office hours, and set up study groups at the WALC. I had her for lab too and she made that very fun. Cannot sneak by, but she will help you.
Professor Jennings is one of the greatest professors at WCU. She always tries her best to make lectures interesting, and she cares so much about her students. If you are struggling in her class, don't be afraid to contact her for help. She is always willing to work with students and she gives 110% in everything she does. Absolutely incredible.
I loved her! She is one of the most caring professors out there. I will say you do have to study for her class a good bit. She goes through her powerpoints rather quickly sometimes but she will offer help! HIGHLY recommend her for Chem instead of the male professor, Evanoff.
She is the most caring professor I have!!
Professor Jennings is not the expected college professor. She is kind, funny, and caring. When taking her class be prepared to have "celebrations of learning" (quiz) and candy on exam day. She will sing and dance and learn your name within a few weeks. She is extremely personable and will be a mom away from home when you need one.
I absolutely love Professor Jennings. She truly cares about her students! I did feel like she went pretty fast and I personally had a hard time keeping up. She always makes time for office hours and will help you with bookwork one on one if need be. Hard class, wonderful professor!
She's the best professor I have had. She can be fast pace but she puts her lectures on BB to be printed out and you can take more notes in class. This is not an easy class if Chemistry or Math do not come easy to you. But she makes it as simple as she can the rest is up to you to remember it. Quizzes are all partner or take home. STUDY FOR TESTS!!
CHEM132 is the hardest freshman chemistry class and if she wasn't teaching, I probably would've failed or switched my major y now. Wonderful professor, although she does pack a lot of information into a rather short time period.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!!! She greatly cares about her students and is willing to help. She made chemistry super easy to understand and her test are fair. Best chemistry professor you could take one. Even if chemistry is not your thing, you will pass her class if you put in the effort.
She was awesome! Chem 101 is such a fun class. Highly highly recommend. The material was relatively easy and her teaching style is great. She really cares about her students.
Professor Jennings is the best teacher Ive ever had. The class itself is very difficult, but she makes it so much easier to understand. She makes herself available for all of her students and not only takes an interest in students academics, but also their personal lives.
She is an amazing professor and person. She cares about your grades but also you as a person. She listens to what you have to say and will go out of her way to help you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I had Professor Jennings for 2 classes and both classes were absolutely amazing. She likes to get to know you and who you are and try to connect with you. She isn't strict, very easy going and she will help you and explain things to you if you don't understand them. The class, in general, was easy, mainly just trying to remember definitions and suc
Professor Jennings is one of the best professors. She will always try her best to email you and help you outside of class. She usually has big study sessions before her exams. She is also very energetic and caring. Her exams are difficult, but I recommend tutoring and writing your notes before class.
She is an amazing professor. Go to her if you need help with anything! She teaches well and the work is great for learning the subject. Easy labs and her lectures are fun because of her energy.
I have been a student here for four years and she is hands down the best professor I have ever had. I was never strong in chemistry until taking both of her classes. She is willing to help you with anything that you have concerns with. She normally has a class size around 70 and she will know everyone's name in 2 weeks. Her lectures are fun!! 10/10
Professor Jennings is the best professor I've taken at this school. She cares about every one of her students. Her class is not a walk in the park. She grades like any chem professor would. The difference between her and other chem professors is the way she teaches. She's incredibly interactive and is willing to meet with anyone who reaches out.
Cares a lot about her students and will help you in any way if you are not understanding something. Extra credit is given and she does throw some quizzes.
Professor Jennings is my all-time favorite. She is happy all the time and is so enthusiastic. Chemistry is hard and somehow she makes it really easy to understand. Her tests can be a little hard, but the optional book homework before a test really is a lifesaver. She really just wants you to succeed and do the best you can.
Pros: In-class review/study sessions, outside class review/study sessions. Drops two lowest quiz grades. Tests are trying but easily passable if you study. Gives bonuses on tests with textbook study questions. Cons: Pop-quizzes, though she tells you ahead of time and sends an email. Can't miss class often & lecture heavy(be prepared to take notes)
She's an awesome professor and makes a super difficult course easier to comprehend. Chemistry was never my strong suit but she made it to where I could succeed in the class which I am super grateful for. Just be aware, just because she is a great professor does not mean the class will be easy because it is still super difficult!
Jennings is one of the best! I had her for CHEM140 and she is SO enthusiastic. Her tests are very fair and usually consist of questions similar to the quizzes she hands out for homework. She does great with explaining things. She does have a few attendance quizzes (if you're there you get a 100) usually on the days before a holiday break.
Chem133 was my second class with Jennings and it was amazing. The material is a little difficult but because of her, I understood it. If you have to take any Chem class she teaches I HIGHLY recommend her class. She actually cares about you as a student and will do ANYTHING to help you succeed.
Jennings is one of a kind to say the least. Chemistry is a hard topic as it is but she tries to make as simple as she can but you have to put in the work. Homework and quizzes are similar to tests. She is also one of the most caring professors and she makes it her goal to learn every student's name and she cares about every single one.
This woman is an angel. She knows her class is difficult and she gives so many opportunities for you to earn easy extra credit. Her teaching style is easy to follow and she encourages participation, but doesn't require it. She's also just a great person and is very motherly and caring. You can tell that she truly wants you to succeed in her class.
Dr. Jennings is one of the most caring and hilarious professors that I have had at WCU, throughout my two years. You will not regret taking her class, as the content for CHEM 101 is very easy. There are homework assignments almost every week, a project twice a semester, multiple quizzes, and two exams (plus a final), so there is no room to slack!
Professor Jennings is amazing! She genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. There are opportunities for extra credit (Textbook problems completed for extra points on tests). She goes above and beyond to make material available for every student in multiple formats. I would 100% recommend, and would take any course offered by her! Love her!
Professor Jennings is an amazing professor, she always finds a way to make the class fun, while still including inputs of success and a good college experience. She cares about her students and she is a very outgoing and energetic person. 10/10
I absolutely love Professor Jennings. She is the kindest, sweetest person you will ever meet. She is extremely enthusiastic and wants you to do her best. Her exams are hard but studying and optional book homework are key to passing. I would definitely take her again in a heartbeat.
Professor Jennings is the best professor I've had at Western (coming from a junior)! She really wants you to do well in the class and pass. She will work with you no matter what and will make time for you outside of class to study even if it's 9 at night. She's so caring and funny. This class is hard because it is chemistry but she definitely helps
Jennings is an amazing teacher. She cares about you both inside and outside of the classroom. She is genuine and down to earth. As far as class goes, Chemistry is very challenging, but Jennings has your back and will rearrange her schedule just to fit you in to help you better understand content. I highly recommend taking any class with her!
Professor Jennings is overall a fantastic Professor. Yes, chemistry is hard, but if you follow her lectures, interact in class, do optional book homework and attend office hours, you will succeed.
Fail one test? good luck getting your grade back up. She cry’s about caring about you which is weird getting gaslighted by your professor. She’s bubbly but it’s not worth it when the grades are unbalanced the work feels useless when the tests are worth so much of your grade.
Dr. Jennings is such a sweetheart. Chem isn't a cake walk but she really makes sure that her students know the material. Jennings gives a good bit of homework but it is all to help prepare you for the exams. Best professor in chem department hands down.
Professor Jennings is an absolutely INCREDIBLE professor. She is so enthusiastic about chemistry that made my 8 AM not only tolerable but enjoyable. Her lectures are full of useful info and she points out everything that will be on the exams. The exams are straightforward forward and she makes her expectations very clear for them. HIGHLY recommend.
Best professor Ive had at WCU!! Shes so amazing and knows what shes doing. Her tests are a bit hard but if you put in effort to do the extra credit they arent a problem. Always emails back quickly and willing to work with you if you dont understand. TAKE HER!! You wont regret it!!!
Jennings is incredible. She understands that chemistry is a difficult topic and that majority are taking it for a general ed credit. She makes lectures fun even if the material itself isn't the most interesting. She is always willing to help if you don't understand and the workload is not a lot at all.
Absolutely amazing! She is the absolute best chem professor at WCU! She goes above and beyond for her students and does everything in her power for her students to succeed. If you can, take her class, she's awesome!
She is the best professor I have ever had and truly cares about her students. She wants you to do well and will make sure she does everything she can to help you with whatever you need. Take her if you get the chance and need the class, you will not regret it.
Dr. Jennings is an outstanding, caring professor. She cares about her students and wants to do anything to help them succeed. Her lectures didn't always have the best explanations of topics, but watching the videos for each unit and taking notes will help. You'll do just fine if you attend support sessions, do the optional book homework, and study.
Jennings is one of few professors in the world. Going into college I spoke with friends elsewhere on how tough and uncaring their professors were but I never got that feeling with Professor Jennings. She was very inspirational and it really is not overlooked with the difficulty of the course.
Professor Jennings is by far, the best instructor I have had. She goes above and beyond what is expected of instructors. There are numerous opportunities for extra credit and office hours, which rewards students for effort. The course is well-structured and adapted to a variety of learning styles. My only regret is not taking her for CHEM-139.
She was absolutely amazing. The course was mainly memorization focused but isn't too hard if you study.
Professor Jennings is very nice and caring. Her class was not bad at all. She has a personal tutor for her class so that helps a lot. If you do the notes and go to the study sessions you will be fine. She goes over the notes very quick but she also has videos that you could watch on your own.
Jennings has an engaging learning style and fair grading policy. 1 hw due every week on Friday. Generally 1 quiz per unit and then a test that's heavily based on past quizzes. Usually easy to study for. You can work with a partner on the quizzes and use a notecard on tests. She loves group projects. Be kind and creative and you will do well.
Amazing professor all around and truly loves teaching chemistry. You get 4 extra credit points per test for completing book homework, which is great for studying. When I had a bad test grade she sat down to talk with me and ask how she could help. She drops the lowest exam grade. Take notes before class! She speeds through slides.
Was told by everyone to take the class, but feel that she is overrated. Speeds through lectures, tests did not match other work well, lots of homework per unit, and gave us speeches like we're in High School.
She cares about her students and checks in on people who may not be doing so well in the class or in their personal lives. There's a good cushion from miscellaneous assignments, so it won't drop your grade too much if you don't do well on an exam. There are also good opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester that will help out.
I had Jennings as my USI honors fourm professor, and she was wonderful! Very passionate and caring, and wasn't a strict grader. I highly recommend her, and I plan on taking her chemistry 101 course just to have her as a professor again. I'm a musical theatre major for reference, I'm not even studying chemistry. That's how good she is
What an amazing human being. Genuinely cares about you. Passionate and forgiving. Her USI class had one assignment a week. Extremely easy, turn in the work and you will get an A.
Jennings was awesome and cared for her students on a personal level. She helped me pass chemistry with an A, which I never thought I would be able to do. I loved her so much and she is an awesome person and professor! She also offers 4 extra points on the unit tests if you complete the optional book homework.
The class itself was decent- probably one of the better USI options. Unfortunately she tries way too hard to "connect" with her students by asking personal questions. Not in a creepy way of course, just wants a sob story out of you so she can give some motivational speech. Get ready or some insanely awkward conversations.
Her classes make you feel like you are back in an elementary school, with labs including tie dye, slime, and other really fun activities. Also gives plenty of extra credit opportunities as well as group/partner projects. Try your best and you'll do great!
Jennings is a light to her classroom. She truly cares about you and your success. She makes her lectures as easy to understand as possible, and she also gets it when people fall behind. She offers tons of practice in class and is available for office hours. CHEM 101 is incredibly easy if you put in the work, and Jennings is a fantastic professor.
The most excellent professor at Western by far. She has a very caring personality, and she is a very genuine and kind person. She loves her students and cares about their success. Great professor, and I would retake it. The coursework is challenging, and the topics are hard, but she makes them as simple as possible.
Jennings is the best professor I've had at Western by far. It's clear she cares so much about her students and will work with you to make sure you succeed in her class. Although some material is difficult, she makes it as simple as possible and gives you many chances for helpful learning checks. If you have the chance to take her class, DO IT!
Jennings does a great job at teaching a subject that not many people enjoy. It is obvious that she is passionate about chemistry. Her exams were pretty tough but the material was covered in lectures and outside assignments so you come into an exam prepared. She offers plenty of resources to help supplement her lectures and further chem knowledge.
Jennings is hands down the best chem professor I have ever had. She will take the time to make sure everyone has a fair chance of passing and understanding the information. Her office hours are used to help people be able to go and ask questions and you can even have her show you how to solve a problem. It is clear she enjoys teaching and cares.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She does a good job helping you actually understand the material while giving you second chances to correct yourself. Also made the course pretty easy due to extra credit and office hours.
I absolutely adore Professor Jennings and hope I can take her for every chem class. Her lectures are engaging, she is so nice and genuinely cares about her students. She explains things in a way that makes them easy to understand. She is easily accessible outside of class and offers fair opportunities to get a good grade.
I love Alesia Jennings. She was AMAZING!! Best chemistry teacher I have ever had. I would take a chemistry class just to have her. While this is a difficult class, she creates a great learning environment and does not make you afraid to ask questions. She is extremely patient. She knew every student's name even though it was a 60+ person class.
Prof Jennings is amazing. She makes sure everyone is heard from and has a voice. She is very brutal on saying if the topic is easy or not. She makes chemistry fun and always wears a funny chemistry pun t-shirt. I couldn't have asked for a better chem professor.
Not a good professor, very poor in her instruction, does not really care about students much, and is very challenging to understand
Literally my favorite professor out of all of Western Carolina's faculty. I walked in with such a fear about it being hard as it wasn't really related to my major, but I would take any class with Jennings again. Truly a fun, energetic teacher who wants you to succeed. Always available for help and even someone to talk to.
She's actually one of the sweetest people I've ever met. TAKE HER!!!
Jennings is an amazing professor. Chemistry is such a difficult subject and she does everything in her power to get you to where you need to be. She has a lot of energy that is needed to keep students engaged on the subject matter. She cares about each and every one of her students.
Professor Jennings is very passionate about Chemistry, which is shown in her engaging lectures and willingness to do anything to help a struggling student understand a subject. I was in her honors class which was very small and helped me learn better. Do the optional book homework and take notes and you will be fine.
She is so good at making sure you understand what you are doing. Her class is so organized, and you know exactly what you will be doing. You should take notes before her lectures so you have some idea of what is being talked about beforehand, and because she goes too fast to take notes during lectures. She loves what she does and makes class so fun
Professor Jennings was a great professor. She really does care about her students and truly does want you to succeed in her class. The content can be very overwhelming so make sure to pay attention to the slides in class and do practice problems to prepare for tests. You can take the tests with a partner which can be helpful too.
Jennings is amazing! The material she teaches can be very hard to understand, but she does everything in her power to help you learn it. She is so kind and caring to all of her students, and always comes to class with a good energy. If you need to take this class for your major, take her! She is absolutely your best option!!
Absolutely love Jennings, she is great. My grade does not relfect how she taught. Caring and loves all of her students. Knows everyone on a name to name basis and check in on you if you miss class. Chemistry is not easy and she is very lecture heavy, but she tries to make it as fun and engaging as possible and has a lot of good puns and t-shirts.
Take her class. She cares about her students more than any other professor I've had.
This professor is very kind and understanding. She loves her job and is a great teacher. She offers a lot of help gives numerous resources.
Probably the most caring prof Ive had. Any haters for Dr. Jennings are literally the dregs of society, or someone got the wrong person. Goated.
Scared of chemistry? Take Professor Jennings. She cares so much about your success in the class. The material can be a little hard at times, especially if you take the honors section--but you will not find a better science professor than her. Her lectures and homework are very clear and helpful (1 quiz a week and 3 exams throughout the semester)
her class was great! theres a homework assignment for every lesson but doing the homework is really helpful to get a better understanding of the material. She's very enthusiastic about the material she teaches which makes her lectures very interesting. I look forward to having her again for Chem-140!
Jennings is one of the best professors I have ever taken. She wants more than anything for you to succeed in her class and if you have any difficulty she is incredibly easy to reach and has SI sessions throughout the week if you need extra help. Highly highly recommend taking her honors courses even if her challenge questions can be tricky
Jennings is a great professor and she tries her hardest to make sure all her students are trying their hardest. She always gave opportunities to go over things outside of class in her own office hours or by email. She has tutoring instructors sitting in on her classes and they have review sessions every week. Chem is hard but it was a cool class.
Dr. Jennings is one of my favorite teachers ever! I took her honors class so attendance was not mandatory, but it is in non-honors classes. She is very passionate about chemistry, teaching, and students. Go to her office hours! She will go over any homework questions you got wrong and fix the score there. I will take her again for Chem140!
Dr. Jennings is incredible!!! She's super sweet and makes her lectures entertaining. She has office hours and will help with any questions even easy ones. There were SI sessions every week which I found very helpful. Chemistry is very difficult but she does her best to help us understand it. I struggled my way thru and still made an A with her!
