this professor is very clear and helpful. there is little homework, harldy any quizzes, and the test can be aced by reading and going over examples in the syllabus. Gets boring at times, but a pretty easy class.

Agree with the preceding. I aced all the tests that I remembered to actually ask questions about and read the chapter for--and he made sure to tell us to do both those things.

He has a stong accent and is sometimes hard to understand, but if you pay attention and read the book you'll do well. He's a friendly guy and seems to want to see his students do well.

boring boring boring boring.. i hated going to class.. rocks suck!! and he takes attendance.. but he is a super nice guy and there is barely any homework.. like 10 questions a week.. tests are difficult if you don't pay attention or read the book..

Loved him, loved the class. He's Italian, so the accent is a bit difficult to negotiate, but he knows his stuff (and he looks like Beethoven).

He is really nice. He is also one good looking Italian. I recommend him highly.

Very hot.. very hot.. very hot... gotta get into this Italian's class.. did I mention hot? He's got the bluest eyes.. who cares what he says! Makes my afternoon every Monday and Wednesday.. I'd want to fail just to repeat the class with him.

Good guy and good teacher. Very clear and on the point. Knows his stuff. Tests aren't too bad if you study and review notes. Homework load is tiny and he's a nice guy, too. He does seems to want his students to do well. =)

He sometimes goes over material many times, and other times spends 1 day on an entire chapter. He's willing to answer questions and is helpful.

Subject matter is difficult and very condenced your grade will defenetly depend on how much of you study on your own dont expect to pass by just sitting in class and listening to lectures I recomend him because hes easy to get along with and ask questions

I don't understand all these negative comments. I took this professor, and he was very helpful. His lectures were interesting and oraganized. If you didn't understand a specific concept, he was more than willing to repeat them again. The tests reflected the lectures and text. These people are lying

good teacher, knows his material well, but very boring. easy class as long as you take good notes in class and use them as a guidline for when you study for tests. if you dont study or atleast read the book i dont recommend you take this class. but hes pretty nice and is easy to ask him questions.

6 exams and final- take notes in class and MUST read book. not hard if you do your work. final is not bad. hes a good professor if you are willing to study and read. for the punctual responsible student this class is enjoyable.

Very good professor. U need to work a lot on your readings because he includes 7 tests during a semester and u must have C and above,otherwise it will be hard to catch up. He is willing to help and answers the questions clearly.

I think prof. Grippo explains very clearly and I found out that I like the subject much more than I thought after taking his class. People who whine are simply people who want an easy ride in this class

The last person is totally wrong, the professor does not do that. Maybe she just wants him to do that, but he doesn't. In this class you have to pay attention and study and you do well. Grippo is a fair grader and the only complaints I ever hear are from the people who don't want to work.

very helpful and clear. I strongly recommend this class. You have to study of course, but he is willing to help.

He is a nice guy and tries to teach us what we need. People complain because they want an easy ride. He is not the guy for that, but if you want to know something about the subject he is the guy for that.

He is the Obi-Wan Kenobi of Geology! He is wise, tries to teach us well, and grades us fairly.

very effective professor, I feel I learned a lot from him; the work is not hard but it is continuous; a couple of possibilities for extra credit, plus extra credit on every test.Also he knows a lot about local geology, made me want to visit our national parks

I liked the class but it did require a lot of reading and studying. Sometimes he was hard to understand and went too fast over the material. He reminds me of a teddy bear, sort of soft and round but with a sweet face.

There is a lot to learn in this class but it is not too hard. Just take notes, read the chapters, and study and you will get a decent grade.

The people who complain about this class either did not go to class or never studied. It is not an easy A but you can get an A with just a bit of effort on your part. I enjoyed the class and the prof was nice!

I found this professor very effective, and i admired his patience with the class; he went beyond his duties to assist students that bothered the class during the whole semester with their noise and their complaints about he not giving A to everybody. People who say they are good students and "this time" did not get an A speak for themselves.

He is a very good teacher. His class is interesting, he goes at a nice pace, and he likes the material. I enjoyed it very much!

Ok so you people who say this class is SOOO HARD are rediculous. i sit in the back of class and only go half the time- just by reading the book i got an A on the test. its not hard and hes nice and chill. you shouldnt be in college if you cant get an A in this class!! sorry!!

He is sort of hard to understand because he does not talk very loud and I am in the back of the room. He always answers our questions and explains things good.

Great teacher!! Read the text and you will do fine on the exams. Extra credit essay questions on the exams. He is a very nice guy and willing to help students. I did not want to take this class but I'm glad I did.

One of my best professors at CSUN. He encouraged and answered questions, explained things comparing geology to everyday situation, helped student, and is very friendly. As are not impossible as in other classes

If you go to class you will learn a LOT from this man! You do have to study for his tests, but this is a 300-level course not elementary school.

His lectures were straight forward and about 75% of your grade is based on tests so study!

Professor Grippo is a great professor. There is only 4 tests in his class and that is it. You do however have to read your textbook on your own. His lectures are a little long but really interesting, he is very knowledgeable. All of his test come with extra credit. i would take him again.
