Save yourself the money and don't take him. That is at least for Calc 1.
gives quizzes every day, moves too quickly
Is always available out of class to answer any questions.
Was very clear and easy to understand
He was a very easy professor. If anyone thinks he was hard they are either borderline retarted or they are just lazy. Can't get much easier then a math class at HCC.

He was like the absent-minded professor! He continually brought the wrong textbook to class. He also seemed to choose favorites (girls in low tank tops)and seemed to hate to be questioned on problems done in class. Definitely a BORING instructor!!!
Yeah I would agree, this guy moves very fast and does not like to answer questions. He made the class harder then what is should of been, gave quizzes everyday and Im an AB student, and I got a C, did not like this one.
I had him for Trig. last semester and Calc I this one, and I'm taking him for Calc II in the fall. Explains things very thoroughly. Goes into detail on things that we need, but not on things we should know already.People that do not do well in his classes are ones that don't try too hard.
kind of a nice guy,,but a horrible teacher probably the worst ive had at hcc..moves way too fast, and does not like when u ask questions, i would save myself the headache DONT TAKE HIM! u probably wont fail but u will get a C in a class that u would get an A with if taken with another teacher, would NOT take him for calc or higher level math
If you do the homework and readings, class is great, you need to stay current. Mr. A. is very nice and always avilable to help when asked
I liked him, but it was the most work I have ever done in a math class. I must have done two-three hours of homework five days a week. But he was always available for help outside the classroom.
hes tough..goes really really fast. doesnt ever understand students questions..
took him last year. he was VERY helpful. i found the class to be easy ONLY IF u did the assignments on the syllubus BEFORE class. do the extra credit. he's a very compassionate person if u have problems. available outside of class. family man. many students chose him 4 other math classes.
Was an understanding teacher but was horrible at teaching

Prof. Ambrioso teaches verbatim out of the text so taking notes seems pointless. He doesn't offer very clear guidance on what will be on the tests so you must do all of the homework in order to get A's. He also puts a lot of proofs on the tests and emphasizes memorization a lot. Finally, he gets confused a lot in class when doing examples.
This guy is a jerk and the reason I say that is because of 2 reasons. He hates to repeat himself, and almost refuses to allow you to speak. I saw so many times someone would ask him to be more specific, or clear in his explination, but he would get pissed off an almost affensive. You can tell he hates to answer questions when he is lecturing to.
He was great!!! Very organized!!!
I didn't like him. The material wasn't that difficult but his teaching style I found difficult. He doesn't review everything on the tests. Good luck if you take him. Don't piss him off either. You'll pay for it.
Ambrioso is a great math teacher. He really made things easier to understand and I wish I'd taken Lib Arts 2 with him!
teacher was very friendly and was reccommended by someone i know. however, for liberal arts i thought he was very difficult! this class was supposed to be easy!! i wouldnt reccommend him to anyone, although he does drop the lowest test score :o)
enjoyed class, learned much, tells corny but funny jokes
--He's great guy, teaches you thought process behind the work, which makes the math actually useful. His goal seems to be for students to understand, and he puts alot of effort into what he does, but he does sometimes struggles relating to students.if you don't study for the tests your grade will reflect it, which should go without saying...
His teaching style is difficult because what he gives on the exams is different then what is taught. Vague on information so it can be hard. I barely pulled a B with tons of effort but be careful not to say something he doesn't like. You'll get ridiculed.
I read what others worte about this professor, and he is every bit as awful as they have described!! A HUGE waste of time/money struggling only to drop to save GPA.
Mr. Ambrioso is the kind of teacher that will make you feel stupid for any kind of question you ask. I would never recomend him to any other student here at HCC. He is a discrase!
he is tough but if you study for his tests you should be fine. The way he grades is different then most other teachers but his class will teach you the fundamentals of what you will need in high education classes.
Breaks stuff down to a T, but sometimes get side tracked in stories, jumps around topics at time, other than that just stay on your homework and do the quizes your good to go.. tests are big key so study.. no suprises though
Excellent professor. His tests are not easy, but as long as you do your homework and study, you`ll be fine. If you ahve an issue with a problem he will definately help you understand it. He will work with you on his personal time to explain in more detail on whatever problem you have. I would reccommended to someone else. I would take him for cal
Very hard comprehending things becuase of the way that he taught. Not a very good teacher. Tests are hard and i wouldn't reccommend him. I had to end up dropping the class to save my GPA.
If you have trouble in math, he is the one to take. He readily gave of his free time to answer any questions I had either via email, on the phone, or in his office.
Amazing Teacher! I learned alot from him. He is very helpful and understanding. His quizzes are basically the tests with the number switched around so they're a great study guide. No surprises or trick questions, everything that is on the tests he has gone over in class.
Great instructor! This professor really cares about his students and he is very enthusiatic about this subject. Very approachable and eager to help. Gives great reviews that are very much like the tests. No surprises. He may take a bit of getting used to but he will go the extra mile for you if you put forth an effort.Wants his students to succeed.
Taking his class made me almost drop out of school. He kept trying to tell me that I was not good enough for calc2. I almost believed him until I took it with someone else and got an A. He is a very bad teacher with an ego. what good a teacher if no one understand anything. all my class mates that got an A in his class were self taught.
unless you took calc before do not take him. he is an A-word lol. i dropped the class with his messed up grading skills
Great teacher and loves his job.Makes being in class fun,and incorporates his stories into the lessons. He never gets mad,and really tries to make students understand.I'm sorry but math doesn't come easy to most people so you have to expect hard work, and I really think those that left neg comments weren't willing to put forth the effort,b/c he is!
Test's are hard. He doesn't teach the test
Great professor, he teaches advanced math topics, so don't expect to be baby fed in his class, he explains well and willing to help, answers all questions. Must be prepared and actually pay attention to do well.. like any other advanced math class.
He teaches as if his students have a thorough understanding of mathematics, which is unreasonable expectation in today's society. He can become annoyed at simple questions in class. After class he is very accessible though still somewhat antsy with his answers. He is not an easy A, several failed miserably, but you will learn in his class.
He doesn't teach at all. He assumes everyone already knows the material. He also makes many mistakes while teaching, which makes it even harder to understand him. I read the entire book to pass the class. You will not pass by listening to him alone. He uses confusing language and rarely explains himself well enough to understand.
I took Stats with him almost 6 years ago. I remember his expression that he wanted to help each of us utilize and recognize statistics in our everyday world and that he would try to appeal to the very different kinds of people/students he had in that class. I worked extremely hard but learned so much. Well worth the effort Overcome obstacles!
Tons of HW. But you need that to really learn Calc. He makes mistakes a lot b/c he goes so fast, but he is also good at explaining concepts. This is a class you have to teach yourself no matter what teacher you have, so prepare to do a lot of work! Practice tons b/c small mistakes will kill you on tests! Extra credit available on tests.
Tests are much harder than the homework. He rushes through a lot. Don't depend on him teaching you to learn all of the material. Sometimes need to teach yourself. He sometimes expects you to know everything.
He gets off topic a lot and brings up a lot of examples about another math class. You will do well in this class if you took Algebra recently and did well in it. Tests are more difficult than the homework. Sometimes the problems in the tests weren't in the homework.
Look, the material is not easy. but if you pay attention in class and DO THE HOMEWORK, you will do well. I took him for calc 3 and DE.
don't take this guy.barely one example per section.tests are long and hard. point deductions for everything and anything.
Great person but horrible teacher. Moves way to fast. I loved math until i took this guy. Put questions on test you never go over in class. Extremely difficult test and way too much homework
Calc 3 is hard...he's very smart and will go out of his way to help. If you're no good at math, it's not his fault. Tests are questions that he goes over. No surprises.
Good mathematician but not a great educator. He moves quickly but constantly makes mundane errors that force you to scratch out the last ten minutes of notes and wastes lots of lecture time on personal anecdotes etc. I wouldn't recommend to anyone who's worried they might have trouble with the material.
Smart guy, but not a good teacher. Makes numerous mistakes every class. Tests are hard and unexplained. The clarity and handwriting of this teacher need to be worked on severely. Bottom line, take another math professor with at least a 3.5 rating
I hated his class and would never take him as a professor again. He wasn't the sweetest guy ever but he always makes mistakes in his lectures-simple basic math mistakes-and his students correct them. He teaches really fast, and doesn't really know how to explain his lessons another way, which is confusing. His tests and grading are super hard.
He is a nice guy and he knows his stuff but that is just it he doesn't let you try and understand very clear without him reminding you that he went to college and has his degree to teach. Wont let you explain anything without his feelings being hurt. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone if you are not good in math.
He's a nice guy, but he's not made for teaching. Great teachers know how to appeal to everyone's needs, and he only knows things his way. Compared to other teachers, he is disorganized, makes mistakes, and his handwriting is abominable. If you're taking a low level class or are good at math, he is ok; but if you're not, prepare to struggle.
Mr. Ambrioso was a great teacher. You have to understand his ADHD qualities to get through the surface, but once you adjust to that, he is great. Very helpful, very compassionate that not everyone understands math like he does. Overall, I think he was a great teacher and very knowledgeable in his profession.
Lots of work and homework. No surprise questions on the test. Very fair.
Lecture hard to follow but gives lots of example. Test are fair. Lots of online homework. Recommend if you work at it.
Professor Ambrioso is a great teacher. You need to come to class and pay attention. Tests are not hard. Some are long. Always available in his office.
Great teacher. Keep up with the homework and ask questions. Will answer questions in class and through email. Tests are hard but no surprises.
Great teacher. Always willing to help. A lot of homework, but tests are taking right from it. Learned alot. Gives a lot of practical examples. Would recommend him if you are willing to work.
Lectures one thing, quiz is another, and then the test isn't either of those. Gets confused and lost while teaching often, and students have to correct him sometimes. Would not recommend if you aren't good with math and need a strong teacher.
Make you work for it. Allways available for help. Would recommend.
If you miss too many lessons then it will be very hard to pass. Do be sure to keep up with the homework it will allow for a better understanding of how to do the work. He is willing to let the classes retake the worst test and quizzes which is nice but it would be nicer if that was not needed.
Not recommended at all. Tests are unlike hw and quizzes. I got an A but it practically cost me an arm and a leg. This teacher is so not worth it.
His lectures are a bit confusing, he also gets lost in his lectures.(he forgets what he is talking about, and will often give wrong answers and go back 2 fix it) but the homework brings clarity. he has a passion for what he does. I have an A in his class but i also understand math, i would not take his class if there is no personal clarity in math.
Definitely not the easiest professor but knows his stuff and tries to help clarify things if needed overall great teacher
Professor Ambrioso was awesome. The things we were learning were sometimes a little rough as it wasn't the math you're used to. If you e-mail him with a question regarding the homework he replies right away. I do feel like he sometimes gets a little lost in his lectures, but catches right back and explains everything until there's no more questions
HE IS EASY AS hec. 4 WORDS. MATHWAY & BACK OF CLASS * I FIGURED THIS TOWARDS THE END or i would of had a A
He has good personalities, also great skills to be a good teacher. His way of teaching is kinda hard to understand if you don't have a good foundation. If you do, he is a perfect professor to study with.
Seemed like a hopeful class but went downhill fast He gets annoyed if you don't understand and if he explains us and you still don't get it he gets mad Lectured one way but the test and homework expected them differently Didn't grade anything until the end of the semester took attendance at the beginning of the semester but gave up Don't take
If you don't have a good background in trig, don't take him. Instead of having examples prepared for each section, he makes them up and often confuses himself along with the class. He took attendance at the beginning but stops. Planned to have 10 quizzes but that stopped as well. Doesn't grade tests until the end. Don't take.............. seriously
If you don't have a solid foundation in math, do. not. take. Speaks very quickly and often confuses himself and can become flustered if students don't instantly understand the material. Any help you can get will benefit you. Tests are heavily weighed.
Professor Ambrioso is remarkably knowledgeable about all forms of mathematics. However, this does not translate in his teaching style. He speaks/writes incredibly fast and taking notes can a frantic dash to write something before he moves on. Be sure to vocally stop him if you don't understand. He tends not to face the class often. Great guy tho.
He was a great teacher who taught really well. Homework and reviews are 100% necessary but if you do them all work is pretty easy.
This is a tough class to take if you don't have a good foundation of college algebra. Due to he expects you to already know the material from the previous courses all the time and usually skips steps or doesn't go fully in depth. He also weighs the majority of his grade on tests and tests alone. Very difficult to grasp class but he is a great guy.
Great professor but his teaching style is not for everyone. When working out problems he will skip many steps, making it confusing for students who need the steps written out. Also making problems harder than they actually are. He loves what he does but does not make it easy to understand. Also does not grade assignments on time or put grades in.
Good professor. MyStatLab based assignments due at a reasonable pace. Midterm and final exams are non-multiple choice.
I took Trig with Professor Ambriosso and its one of the worst choices I could have made. Little explanation is made available and he offers little help outside of class simply saying "It's in the textbook". Refused to upload notes to canvas saying we should have taken pictures or taken better notes because it would be "Time-consuming" for him to do
Talks fast. Often makes small mistakes he ends up correcting. He's like a savant of some sorts so you'll have to slow him down sometimes and ask questions because if he knows it, he'll assume you know it. Tests are nice and short and have a little of everything from reviews he provides, which are VERY similar to the tests. Quiz often but is easy.
calculus is hard, but his tests are ridiculous. Before you take his class, apply to MIT. If you are accepted, you can probably get an A in his class. If you are not accepted, I would not suggest attempting this guys class. Even stem center tutors had to use computer programs to answer problems he gave out. Do yourself a favor, and dont take.
Taking college algebra since it is my final prereq, saw decent reviews on him and took the class Big. Mistake. He gets off topic very easily, he also speaks down to his students and it is honestly disgusting. He has said to a student to think about the question they are asking prior to asking so they don't waste his time. Recommend not taking him.
This is what an online course should be. With the exception of planning assignment due dates ahead, assignments were based off understanding the concept and not pass or fail. Tons of helpful videos and resources. Structure got wonky later in the semester but Ambrioso was my one bright light this semester.
The assignments are mostly pass/fail. You have an unlimited amount of chances to get the homework right. He does not really use his own lectures, he just links someone else video. The videos provided often lack context, so its hard to understand what is going on and how we are advancing. Tests are short and sweet. Khan Academy regularly saved me.
Less homework and have a chance to retake the test.
I left a worse review near the beginning of the semester. I want to correct my mistake. Professor Ambrosios class is simple, straightforward and nearly impossible to fail, if you learn the material. He regularly would work with you on extensions and his tests were very similar to the review. HW is not hard but yet is still harder than the test.
There are 4 Tests and one Final Exam. The final is optional and replaces lowest test score. The tests are very similar to the reviews and he gives partial credit on the tests which is very helpful.
There are 4 tests and 8 quizzes for the whole semester and it is very easy.
He is a fantastic teacher, and his class is very easy. There are 4 tests, 8 quizzes, and the final exam is optional to drop the lowest test.
