If you have to take the bio-based P-chem, try to do it with Dr. Angerhofer. He is simply a very good professor. His lectures are interesting and he makes sure to go at a reasonable pace. The grading/test are very fair, and he's an overall good person.

Dr. Angerhofer is a great choice for physical chemistry. He goes to great lengths to make the lectures clear and organized. Problem sets can be tricky at times, but he allowed group work (though I worked alone and was okay for most HWs). He previews each exam in the last lecture preceeding it. Participate in class and he'll respond well.

Awesome lecturer, great person personally. That said, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR CHM2046. DO NOT. He uses James Horvath's tests. Horvaths tests are EXTREMELY difficult; the exam2 average was 50%. The questions seem not to test your knowledge but be out to make you fail. NO OTHER teachers tests are nearly as difficult; I know, they're in the CLC.

Dr. A doesnt usually teach general chem, but he was as helpful as any teacher could possibly be, and anyone who did poorly has no excuse! The exams/quizzes were Horvath's, but Dr. A held reviews, and spent a ridiculous amount of time with students in the office. Combine that with studying old tests = A.

By taking him, you are shooting yourself in the foot. He gives out Horvath's test, a teacher notorious for being a jerk. Surprise surprise, he doesn't the same things, so you are preparing for a different test. I went to all classes. after the 2nd test I just stopped, and then I just looked at old tests. Slight accent, otherwise a good teacher. He uses Horvath's notes as primary "textbook" (CN 2 notes), which means that reading the material is extremely difficult and tedious. Horvath's notes have no grammatical synatx and pack millions of words into one page. If you take 2046, take Angerhofer, because he is still better than Horvath

Very smart guy, sometimes too smart. Expects a lot out of first year chemistry students. You really need to work hard to understand and do well in this class. This will not be an easy A, even with the extra credit he offers. However, Angerhofer is very kind and has been understanding during this semester. It's all up to your work ethic.

Dr. A was my favorite prof this past semester. I found the course content to be really interesting and engaging, the textbook was great, and there is plenty of cushion on your grade. The tests and homework make you think critically. Also, the way Dr. A sets up office hours is really nice; you can get help and clarification whenever it's needed.

Dr. A is awesome. Definitely recommend him for CHM2050. The weekly homework questions (4-5) are very wordy, difficult, and often do not reflect test questions. Make sure to attend office hours as they are very helpful for exam reviews and homework help. Dr. A is very nice and the class has a considerable amount of extra credit.

Had Dr. A for Secrets of Alchemy, amazing class w a great prof. Even though labs were distanced and classes online, he made an effort to communicate with every student. Sent a whole file of papers for me to read to help with my research presentation. Made labs very engaging as well, without the pressure of other chem courses

Dr. A is the best professor I have had at UF so far. I have taken 2 semesters with him and I cannot recommend him more to anyone taking his CHM 2050 or 2051 class. His homework is hard but if you go to OH then you will get a 100% on it. He gives A LOT of extra credit which is a nice boost for your grade. I have gotten an A in both class. LOVE HIM!!

Dr. Angerhofer's CHM 2050/2051 sequence are my two favorite classes I have taken at UF. Gen chem topics are taught at a deep, conceptual level. Unlike other gen chem classes, you aren't given tons of repetitive practice questions or incentivized to learn things by rote memorization. Tests and homework require time and effort, but are very fair.

I actually took IDS2935 Secrets of Alchemy with Dr. Angerhofer and he was good - passionate about the material but pretty boring lectures. Weekly readings are long but necessary for discussion posts and in-class discussions. Fun lab portion, not super demanding. Two medium-length papers and bimonthly EASY lab reports. Final presentation

Dr. A was great. The material is harder than normal Chem 2, but it's graded easier. All work submitted is free response, which can be good and bad. The TAs are great and answer questions well. His lectures can get theoretical since his background is in physics, but overall, if you have the chance to take this instead of normal Chem 2, take it.
