Really nice guy with a great teaching style. I would take another class from him. No need to read the book, just attend lectures and pay attention.
I REALLY really enjoyed his teaching style! This was by far my favorite class of the year thus far, and I can't wait to take more classes from him! Czopp is humorous, friendly, and very charismatic
Professor Czopp is awesome! He makes the class a lot of fun with TV show clips to illustrate Social Psych theories. The book was not required, but attending lecture is important because he adds information to his PowerPoint notes. I highly recommend him!
He is really entertaining. He always shows clips in class and tells funny stories that are relevant to what we're learning about. Even his tests are fun, he puts a comical answer to every question on the test and tells beforehand, DON'T CHOOSE 'E'. I highly recommend him.
Alex is an awesome teacher, and his lectures are very interesting, entertaining, and relevant. I looked forward to going to every day of his class! He's extremely knowledgeable and is an expert in his field. Highly recommended!
This is his first time teaching 303? I'm floored. I understand everything thanks to the way he explains it. It's not hard to pay attention because he has charisma, and keeps things interesting. His pace can be a little fast, but he's always willing to explain things. Super nice. Make sure you take notes/come to class, though. No required textbook!
I didnt really like him. He was dry & was easily flustered. Hard to understand at times. He seemed really nervous, I think he may be fairly new at teaching. What I really didnt like is that he picked favorites and it was very obvious.
I would highly recommend taking Dr. Czopp for 240 (or any class). He's very entertaining and witty. He uses a lot of video clips and examples that make it easier to remember information. Tests aren't bad (MC)...just go to class, take decent notes, and study the material before the test. He's also very good about being available for extra help.
While 303 was not always enjoyable (stress of the project), Dr. Czopp at least kept me engaged in the class material and I actually enjoyed that part of it. The project overall wasn't completely horrible...just brainstorm ideas ASAP because you start working on it immediately. Dr. Czopp is very helpful and I'm so glad I had him for this class.
A fantastic class, the best Psych class I've taken at WWU so far. He knows what he is talking about and uses fun TV examples (The Office, Simpsons) to help aid his students as well. Very approachable and a wonderful class over all. Definitely take this course!!!!
Best teacher I've had at Western!!! He's really helpful, clear, understanding, and all around awesome. I would definitely take more classes from him. Dont take anyone else for social psych!!!
Dr. Czopp rocks! I love Social Psych. Like everyone else said, he uses hilarious TV clips and gives relevant, easy-to-remember examples. Lectures are so entertaining, and he's very organized. His "quizzes" are about random things, and the tests are easy if you go to class (which, trust me, you wouldn't want to miss anyway.) =)
Great class and prof. Hes a funny guy. Lectures are entertaining and apply directly to the tests-no confusion when it comes to test questions if you study the material he provides. "Quizes" are simple activities. Free points. Would definitely recommend the class and would take another class from czopp
I loved Social Psych with Czopp. His lectures make you want to go to class. He's very entertaining and funny, but he also knows how to teach and gets points across easily. I would recommend taking class from him.
Such a great intro teacher, i always looked forward to this class. Hes hilarious, and really engages the class. I highly recomend him, although his tests are pretty thorough so be prepared to study a good deal. There are 5 tests and that alone makes up your grade, no cummulative final though!
really great classroom presentation, very clear, funny and organized. tests are really specific and pretty hard, but if you go to class and study a lot you'll be fine. highly reccomend taking his class.
Czopp is a really cool guy, and his lectures are hilarious, i found myself actually looking forward to his lectures even though i dont have too much interest in psychology. His tests are pretty difficult for a 101 class though, nothing you shouldn't be able to handle, but you need to go to class and get the powerpoints. Not an easy A
Czopp is very good lecturer. He keeps it entertaining and even though he tends to rely a little too much on his powerpoints he still incorporates a lot of interesting stories. However, his tests are RIDICULOUS. One time I made over 100 note cards and I still failed the test. He makes the tests a lot harder than they should be for a 101 class. BEWAR
303 can appear to be very stressful and not much fun, however, to make it less painful, I recommend taking it with Czopp. GO TO CLASS! You can't learn stats if you are not there. Tests can be difficult, but going to office hours and asking questions is very beneficial, and WILL improve your test scores. Awesome class
Very helpful, very nice guy. He uses a lot of the same examples which can seem annoying, but it's actually really helpful when it comes to test time.
Dr. Czopp is such a great professor. 303 is really time consuming, but interesting and enjoyable if you take it from him. Clear about requirements, one cheat sheet for 2/3 tests, and rigid outline for project (which makes it less overwhelming). Favorite teacher at WWU.
Great class. Czopp is an entertaining professor and keeps the class moving. I never had to use my text book - just attend class and take notes. Tests are difficult because of the way they are worded and examples that he gives but can be passed somewhat easily if you attend all lectures and pay close attention to the questions. Never pick E.
this class was much too difficult for a basic 101 class. i got an A in A.P. psych in high school and got a C in his class. his lectures are very fun and interesting but his test are created to make you fail. he ended up dropping a whole test for our class because no one was passing! be careful and go to class. not an easy A.
Czopp is a great professor. He makes several hours per week available to students, his presentations show that he spends a lot of time putting them together. He uses relevant and interesting examples to explain theories. I suggest taking this class!
Great professor, clearly is intrinsically motivated by his subject matter. Go to his office hours for fun.
LOVED HIM! Highly recommend taking any class from him. He is funny, witty, keeps things interesting, passionate, etc. You know it's a good class when attendance isn't required, yet classes on lecture days are just as full as test days!
My favorite at Western. Very helpful if you go into his office hours. Passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter. Fun class. Take it with Dr. Czopp!
One of my favorite teachers at this school! I will say his class isn't easy, but you work for the grade you get and if you try hard, it's not impossible. One of the nicest, wittiest, teachers around. He's always willing to help you if you're struggling understanding something :]
Alex is, without question, the prof you for Psych 303 (aka the most difficult required psych class). Although his class isn't easy, he is very focused on helping his students and is almost always available for help. Problem sets take hours so don't leave it til the last minute and make sure you know the material for the (mostly shor
Alex Czopp is a great prof. This was his first seminar and he did a wonderful job of generating awesome discussion and pushing us to think a LOT. If you are serious about psychology and not afraid to work hard, take this class. It is so rewarding, perfect example of what a capstone class should be like.
Czopp...Where to begin. He is a personable guy with a good sense of humor, and would make a fine friend. But heâ??s not a good prof. His tests are convoluted. His lectures are as original and engaging as the ppts he reads off of. I am, or rather, was, a 4.0 student before his class. Shoot the breeze with Czopp, not your GPA by taking his class.
One of the best professors I have had yet! Very passionate about the subject and the class in general. Extremely approachable ( if you are struggling in the class go in and talk to him, it will make a world of a difference) Tests are not easy, so study hard. but if you know and understand his PowerPoint the book isn't needed!
Czopp is a great professor, and one of the few profs in the psych department that is a good adviser. He is the only reason I am graduating on time. Great professor and great guy.
Professor Czopp is a fantastic psychology professor! Maybe I just got lucky with a smaller class, but he makes the class feel engaged in lecture. He answers questions in class and is available most times to talk about exams and study approaches. Much recommended!!
Czopp is an amazing professor. He is a sincerely great guy as well, and I've really appreciated his professorial skills. Psyc346 is a great class, exams are fair- though there is a bit of homework, not bad though.
One of the best teachers I've had at WWU so far. Besides the fact that he is a total cutie :P, he is one of the most articulate and genuinely passionate teachers that I've come across. His tests definitely require a fair amount of studying, take GOOD notes in class and write down examples that he says in your notes. Loved this class:)
i loved this class! alex kept everything really exciting and fun. he says he will make it worth your time being in class and he really does. even the tests have a little humor to them. Great professor!
Great professor! The last choice on the multiple choice tests is always a humorous one! Made me want to keep taking psych classes.
Dr. Czopp is one of my absolute gavorite professors on campus. He is so nice and a wonderful teacher. He uses tons of examples to help explain the material so it is really easy to learn. He is also extremely helpful if you go to his office hours and his tests are really easy if you show up to class and actually learn the material!
Awesome psyc class! I never read the text book, and got an A. If you go to class and take notes you will do great. He posts the powerpoints online for you to fill in. Very engaging teaching style, gives lots of examples that help on the tests! Go to class, it's fun! I highly recommend this class!
Excellent teacher! Very helpful during and outside of class. He's also hilarious and writes jokes into the problem sets, so they're entertaining even though they're time-consuming.
Czopp has been my favorite professor at Western thus far. He is a funny guy which made the lectures interesting. Tests were fair and I never needed the book since the material was so clear. Highly recommend.
Great class, great teacher. He is interesting which makes the subject and lectures fun, an amazing public speaker, loves the subject and gives fair and straightforward tests. Read the textbook, go to class and you'll do great.
Great professor! He makes the lectures interesting and jokes a lot. All around amazing guy. The class is easy if you attend lectures and take notes. Try to study the day before an exam and you'll be fine! I highly recommend this class for a GUR.
Alex is an excellent prof and very effective in teaching psychology. You definitely want to take 101 with him. If you don't make it to class, email someone to get notes. The tests are exactly what you learn from his powerpoint slides that you need to fill out during lecture.
One of my all time favorite professors. He is so helpful and easy to talk to outside of class. Go see him during office hours if you do not understand something and he will spend as much time as you need going over everything. Also, make sure to take advantage of his extra credit because his tests are really hard but you learn a lot!
I don't recommend buying the book if you plan on attending each class. Book only helped for when I was sick and couldn't go to class. THis isn't a class you will want to willingly skip! Lectures are always good, Czopp is quite the looker too. 4 short papers, one longer one, 4 exams, and he offers a little extra credit. Avg. test scores are 80%
Alex is a great professor who is very funny. He really knows his stuff about psychology and his lectures are really fun. His tests are pretty much straight off the study guide. Take this class
Where do I start with this guy? He gave by far the best lectures I've ever attended at Western. The lectures are fun and he always relate the learned material to funny things to help you remember & understand clearly the concepts. His tests are practical and I always loved the E answers he included in each exam which made not stress. Recommend him
Love this class
Alex is the best professor I have ever had. He is a great guy and gives amazing lectures. Barely had to use the text book because he goes over everything in great detail during the lectures. Tests are pretty easy as long as you study, and every E answer is sure to make you laugh, or at least smile. I would highly recommend taking his classes.
Dr. Czopp is a natural at lecturing. He makes concepts clear and easy to understand with funny examples and videos. On the tests, the answer is never e. E is reserved for jokes or sarcastic comments. It makes the tests a little less stressful and more amusing to take. I barely used the textbook.
You think you know and understand the material until you take the test. I didn't get better then an 82% on any of the tests even though I actually studied and paid attention in class. His lectures are pretty boring besides when he tells a few funny antidotes or shows a funny video. Not much homework but the tests make up most of the grade.
In order to get an A, you really need to read the textbook. A lot of questions are framed with in the same context of the book's examples. However 4 non cumulative exams, 4 field study reports, research credit, and points just for being in class. The class average was always 80%. Overall good class, great lecturer, and even better textbook.
He clearly enjoys what he does, and is extremely helpful and accommodating to students. Multiple times I asked him something out of the ordinary and he went above and beyond. Lectures are funny and engaging, and won't have you falling asleep. Biggest plus was even if you don't study, you'll get a decent grade if you attend class and listen.
Czopp is by far the BEST professor I've had at Western! He shows he cares and he will take his time to help you if needed. I would highly recommend taking a class with Czopp if you get the chance. He has great lectures with hilarious and helpful examples and/or videos. His grading system is super fair and he gives opportunities for extra credit!
If you get the chance, take him. Lectures are simple, slides get posted, textbook is a must for those tricky online quizzes, lots of little assignments & in-class writings, but they're easy points. Exams only test what he covered in class & the final is non-cumulative. My only complaint is that it wasn't very interactive, not much class discussion.
Pretty straight forward class. His syllabus was crystal clear and he was always super helpful. Going to class makes the tests much easier, but if you read the book and his lecture notes, you can still get a solid grade. He does have in-class assignments, extra credit, a paper, and the psych research requirement.
One of the best psych profs I've ever had. He's passionate, and really cares about everyone in the classroom. Has some hilarious and worthwhile stories that he loves to tell! You'll learn a lot.
I showed up for about 70% of the lecture time and never bought the textbook. I got an A-, learned a lot, and had a grand old time in the class. He is entertaining, informative, and he provides a good introduction to the psychology department. Worth your time.
Social Psych with Alex has been my favorite course by far at Western. He's very clear with examples and helpful, and offers a lot of opportunity to get easy points in the class. His exams incorporate a bit of fun which always made my day, and you won't want to miss a lecture because a) there's surprise in-class points, and b) his lectures rock!
Hilarious during lecture, even funnier on exams. Overall an amazing person. Make sure you take advantage of extra credit opportunities and most importantly don't forget to participate in research!
Alex is a super awesome teacher. Probably the best prof I've had at Western. I learned a ton and he took what was pretty boring information in the hands of other professors and made it hilarious and really interesting. Gives tons of examples that are helpful (50% of which are Calvin and Hobbes comics). He writes jokes into his tests. Nuff said.
Czopp is by far one of the best professors I've had at Western. He's very approachable and wants you to succeed. The exams aren't easy but they force you to learn well. If you study hard and are able to apply definitions to real world examples you're a-ok. He gives many opportunities to improve your grade, too. Unlike most professors. Take him!!!
Professor Czopp is one of my favorite teachers at WWU. Skip class and you won't pass because there are little writing assignments you do in class everyday, also you don't want to miss out on his examples he gives to help with studying. Overall great teacher who cares a lot about you passing! However, be ready to study A LOT for the tests.
I really enjoyed Dr. Czopp's class. His lectures can be a bit dry, but he tries to make them entertaining with little jokes & comics. However, his tests are pretty difficult. Sometimes his questions don't reflect what has been learned very well. Offers extra credit & easy in class points. You will not pass if you skip! Overall a really cool guy.
Alex is the bomb. He is an awesome, interesting, hillarious lecturer. Great person to talk to outside of class too. Very helpful and approachable. Will for sure look to take future classes from him. Tests are very doable but understand the concepts in a real world situation. Most of his q's are identifying what concept the situation is presenting
Alex is incredible, and extremely caring. 303 has a bad reputation of being incredibly difficult and stressful. Thanks to Alex, it was only stressful (project timeline), as his teaching style is clear and concise. I still use his slideshow notes about writing an APA style research report in my 400 level senior seminars because they are so helpful!
Great professor and class. Lectures were never really boring, and tests were as expected. Study, pay attention (which is not that hard to do) and you will do fine. He is a great guy, funny, but you can tell he is also super intelligent. Really enjoyed learning from him, and really helpful in office hours as well. Highly recommend.
Alex was a good professor. He would use popular/relevant examples, which were amusing. I highly recommend using the study guides he gives. Also, buy the book. He also posts all his slides on Canvas, but it's a good idea to still go to class.
Dr. Czopp is one of the most incredible professors at this university. TAKE HIM! You will not regret it!
Alex is so funny and makes the hour and a half lecture so fun. I never skipped one class and I did very well. He is always willing to meet students in office hours to discuss tests and study habits. I recommend going to class even though he posts lectures online. He gives lots of relatable examples in the lectures that help you better understand.
Alex is awesome! Compared to the other psych professors he by far seems the easiest. His lectures are funny and easy to follow, he tells stories to make the content memorable. Optional final, offers 610 points total but grades out of 600 (10 point cushion). Hes great!
He's a good professor but the class is hard so get ready to study a lot.
Czopp has to be my favorite professor on campus. He is so funny and very educational. I've changed my major to psychology because of him. Get ready to study, the exams are multiple choice but are very in-depth questions. He is super nice during office hours and wants to help you understand his class. Definitely take him if you can! Go to lectures!
Pretty cool, pretty awesome, and very wholesome dad. Highly recommend taking this intro course with Prof. Czopp. He's incredibly down to earth, and understanding of student's struggles in their first year/quarter of college. His specialty though, is psych of society, discrimination, and prejudice. Highly x100 recommend taking PSY240 with him.
Alex was a great choice for my first Psych professor. His syllabus is accessible, and he sticks to it. He gives plenty of examples (mostly from sit-coms, specifically Seinfeld), and wants his students to succeed. Also, some of the examples given are of his kids, which is absolutely adorable.
This class is the easiest class I have ever taken. Professor Czopp is hilarious and great at teaching the material. Attendance isnt required, but I recommend going to class in order fully understand the material. Study the notes before the test and youll be fine.
Czopp is a funny professor, but his grading is unclear and does not do well explaining things the first time which leads to you constantly going to his office hours to understand what he's asking. He wants things done specifically in his way, especially when creating your own experiment which got to be very annoying. Save yourself the headache.
This class was not easy but no 303 is. If you're at all considering a PhD in research psych take 303 with Alex, he really helps it feel like real-life psych. There is a lot of homework (the problem sets are no joke) but he makes videos to watch as you work on them. super available outside of class and he's a great ally to have in the department.
By far my favorite class I have taken at Western. He does random journal writings (part of attendance) but there are chances for extra credit. lectures are fun, he makes it easy to understand. always available for office hours, does review sessions before every exam, online practice quizzes, unlimited attempts. Highly recommend!
Social Psych is one of the psychology fields I'm not interested in, but Czopp made me enjoy learning about it. Your grade is not based solely on exams (about half), and he has writing assignments that really help reinforce the material you learn in class. Not to mention that he keeps lectures engaging (for the most part), and expectations are clear
Professor Czopp (Zopp) is a great Professor. Hes very willing to give you tips about test taking. I really adored how much he talked about how lucky he was to be with his wife of 14 years. Good choice of Professor.
Czopp is a super cool dude. You definitely need to study for tests, but most of that will come from lectures, which he provides an outline of online. The book isn't really necessary, however it could be very helpful. Long lectures can get boring, but he knows that and tries to keep it interesting.
Czopp is cool but I wouldn't say he is a phenomenal prof. His grading criteria is really interesting as it is situated in a "points to be earned" system- this means that really, everything is optional-you just want to do everything to accumulate the points needed for a good grade. This means- do everything. Practice quizzes, assignments, extra cred
Only great things to say about Dr. Czopp! Super accommodating, helpful, and empathetic during the COVID quarter. The class was shy and hard to work with (being on webcams), but he made it work and the class ended up being super fun with the content we learned and the various projects we did. You can be very creative here, one of my fav classes!
Professor Czopp is one of the best professors I have had at Western. He is very accommodating, and really wants his students to succeed. The exams are a bit challenging, but if you take his advice about studying you will be fine. He provided complete study guides, but with this class being online, I needed to use the textbook a lot.
I really liked czopp even though it was an online class it was structured very well and the expectations and instructions for assignments were very clear which made studying a lot easier and his lectures were interesting!
One of the most caring and empathetic professors I've had. Was very flexible with assignments and well aware of current evets that could be impacting student's ability to focus. Fantastic at lecturing . He was always able to provide and pull from a variety of examples, readings, and studies when students had difficulty with concepts.
A large portion of this class was reading articles and then using them to come up with our own ideas regarding prejudice and stereotyping. There is a lot of room for creativity and Dr. Czopp is super understanding and lenient when it comes to grading and assignments.
Alex is phenomenal. He does assign a lot of homework and such, but it is all directly applicable to the material you need to learn. Not to mention, he does just as much work as his students, if not more, to help us understand the material. He will explain topics in detail. If you want to go into research, Alex is the professor you want to take.
Professor Czopp is an amazing teacher, his lectures consisted of some of the material needed for exams and he makes a study guide for what is expected on each exam. He is super engaging with his students and makes it super fun to be in class. Just long as you study the guide he gives you and listen to his examples, you will pass!
This class was VERY fun. I was excited to go to class, even though it was online. (Which never happens) Czopp is a very caring person who wants all students to succeed. He is entertaining with his lectures which make you want to go to them, even though they are not required.
NOT a good professor. Hes very harsh w/ feedback & grades really hard. Doesnt matter if you put effort into the assignment he will pick apart every little thing and is pretty rude & unhelpful when giving feedback. Basically tells you how wrong you are in every aspect and to redo everything. Very heavy on homework/quizzes. Will never take him again
Dr. Czopp is a wonderful teacher. His passion for social psychology is contagious and he is incredibly understanding when things come up for students outside of class. He gives excellent feedback on papers and projects, and always has time outside of class for students to come in and hone in on their skills. He is the best psych prof at Western.
Prepare to use what you learned in the previous 300 classes! Czopp is a caring professor who puts in a lot of time and effort to make sure everyone is understanding the material. He has a very specific type of humor/personality that either makes people love or dislike him. Homework and thesis paper takes lots of time and effort, be ready to work!
I think he is doing well for teaching a new class. Western changed the classes for the psy major, so profs have been figuring out how to teach the new classes. I'm taking 307 (previously 303) with Czopp and he's a lovely prof. It felt like there was no point in going to class tho. Lectures were online, lots of hw. Class was just Q&A for hw.
Very interesting and culturally relevant lectures
Dr. Czopp was my first professor coming into college and I think he set the bar too high for other professors. I always wanted to go to his class and enjoyed his very engaging lectures. It's easy to get a good grade if you study, pay attention to lectures, and use all of the resources he gives you. 10/10 would recommend.
If you are taking PSY 101, take this professor! I am not a PSY major, and I still enjoyed taking this class. We watch fun videos and he is overall a great guy. My favorite part is that he often tells stories about his family (especially his wife). As long as you pay attention in lectures, you will pass. Go to class! Don't buy the textbook.
PSY101 with him is fun and easy if you take good notes during his super informative lectures. Tests are open book open note open Google search.
Czopp's lectures were absolutely incredible. He's very engaging and funny, and I am going to seek out more of his classes in the future. His tests were a little difficult for me personally, but professors like him make me proud to be a psych major at Western.
Dr. Czopp is the best prof I've had so far. You can tell he has a passion for what he is teaching, if you are having trouble or need accommodations he is very willing to help.
We spend the first like 2/3rds of the class on neuro anatomy which never comes up again and then we discuss a couple mental disorders with no depth for the remaining few weeks. It was surface level (more so than I would expect from a 101 class), boring, and an A. Worst part: calls this textbook mandatory so I spend 99$ and we never used it ONCE.
Amazing professor, made the lectures interesting and enthusiastic. There is not that much homework, and it is all open book with unlimited time on the tests/quizzes. I began to come to classes not because it is necessary, but enjoyable. It also helps to take notes on his examples he gives and explanations that are not posted on his slides.
I had Dr. Czopp for Psych101, and it was definitely one of those classes that if you miss a day, you miss a lot of material. Dr. Czopp definitely says more than just what is on the slides. He's really good about answering questions and explaining the concepts in ways that make sense.
Alex Czopp is truly one of the best professors at WWU. Cares about student success and lectures are engaging and interesting every day. Assignments complimented lectures well, and it is easy to do well if you just do the work and participate. This was my second class with him and I am already looking forward to taking more of his courses.
*PSY 305* Dr. Czopp was a good professor. Very friendly and welcoming. I wish we had a few more examples at the start of the quarter of what he was looking for in assignments but otherwise, it was well laid out and expectations were clear. A solid choice for a professor.
He's hilarious and will answer questions, and his classes are actually interesting. He has open-note exams, so take good notes more than just the slides and do the homework (which he doesn't have very often) and you'll do good. If you don't go to class though, make friends because the slides he posts don't include all the stuff he has in class.
Overall entertaining and easy class. Professor is fun and flexible.
Czopp was very engaging and made this lecture worth coming to. Very kind and understanding, responsive and not too much course work. Tests are not timed and multiple choice.
I really enjoyed Professor Czopp. Almost the entire class is made up of lectures, but he uses personal stories to be engaging. Understanding and genuinely cares about his student's well-being. The textbook was mandatory but I did fine not always doing the reading, however some topics on tests are only in the textbook.
Professor Czopp is an amazing professor. He clearly outlines grading criteria and expectations. His class is mostly lecture focused, but he uses personal experiences to make classes engaging and enjoyable. Exams are open note, online, and untimed. Would definitely recommend his class to anyone looking to fill a GUR or going into psychology
Textbook was not even needed for tests and assignments. Lectures were interesting and funny. Overall a great class by a great professor.
Professor Czopp made lectures interesting and seems to care a lot about students. The exams are open note and online and there isn't a lot of homework.
I took Dr. Czopp's psych 101 class and I thought he was very engaging and his lectures were helpful to attend. He had a very clear layout on canvas of the lecture material so any missed info was easy to find. the tests were all open notes and taken outside of class. very friendly and funny!
All exams online with an optional final exam to replace any previous exam score. He was a great professor!
Hands down the best teacher I've ever had. He is super engaged in his lectures which makes it impossible not to follow along. I was already planning to be a psych major but this class solidified my choice. I hope to have him again
Czopp was a good professor! He explains things really well in lectures, so make sure to go to them. Some of the examples he says about the concepts in lectures can be used in exams. Take notes and you'll be fine.
Czopp is definitely one of my favorite profs at Western. His lectures are interesting and he does a good job of providing examples and making it easy to understand the concepts. I highly recommend taking a class with him. The exams aren't easy, but they really integrate the concepts in class, and are asking "what is this situation an example of."
Dr. Czopp thinks he's hilarious and his lectures were intreguing. I would love to learn more from him. The class was interesting and assignments were easy. There are plenty of opportunities to earn points in the class and tests are online, untimed.
He is a really nice guy who offered to help students looking to join the psych program. Before every exam there is a reflection paper & video journal due which isn't hard if you go to class. Attendance is not mandatory but part of your grade is in class activities- which you can't get an A without doing. Overall great professor & interesting class
Dr. Czopp is my favorite professor I've had. He made sure lectures made sense and did not go too fast. He left time for questions about the class and the psych major. I went to his office hours to ask more about the major and he was very helpful. His class was exciting to go to and made social psychology a favorite. I would recommend this class!
This class was very easy, but I liked it. Alex is passionate about psychology which is great. He also tries to include interesting stories related to psychology in all of his lectures. I would say all of the tests and lectures include real world problems.
Dr. Czopp is the best. I initially took this course with another professor (to not be named) but dropped out at week three because it was incomprehensible. Taking it with Alex was a breath of fresh air. He is SO organized and an excellent teacher. You will really grasp experimental statistics in this course, and will have loads of fun too.
Professor Czopp is one of the best psychology professors at this school! Lectures aren't boring and are honestly very interesting to listen to. Has some interactive moments for lectures to keep kids engaged. Would highly recommend for any PSY101 takers.
Professor slop is my favorite professor at this school Very funny and engaging
Easy class maybe due to having done psych in highschool but hes a D1 chiller and makes the class very entertaining. Assignments are short and easy if you pay attention. Worst part of the class was lowkey the fraser hall seats being uncomfy
Despite being a heavy lecture class, I was rarely bored because Dr. Czopp supplements his content with great examples and engaging slideshows/videos. He explains assignments clearly and often. Quizzes and exams are always open note!
Alex Czopp is the best professor I've ever had. I took him for Psychology 101 and his lectures are fun. He gives fun, sassy dad vibes. The class has an online textbook and mostly have 4 multiple-choice exams. There's one optional cumulative exam at the end that will drop your lowest exam grade. I would say go to class because it really helps. :)
Professor Czopp is one of my favorite professors!! His lectures are never boring because he is so hilarious and uses clips from movies and shows to supplement what we are learning. I was kind of taken aback by how difficult the quizzes are. Get ready to read also! I didn't know there was a textbook until a quarter of the way into the semester
Dr. Czopp is amazing, super engaging and helpful lectures. Attendance not taken but I would recommend going. Three exams, final is optional. Assignments are easy. Final paper is not difficult. Textbook is online, about $45 which you can opt out of, I didn't find it necessary. Got an A, never read the textbook once. Highly recommend for psych 101.
Professor Czopp makes the material engaging and easy to understand. The open-note online exams are manageable with regular attendance and textbook reading. Unstuck study is a great supplemental tool for preparing. Highly recommend this class!
Incredible teacher. Loves to teach, has interesting classes, hilarious tests, and is easy to do well in the class. Don't buy the textbook, he teaches everything in class and has clear notes. All tests are open and there are many chances to get a good grade. He cares about the course material and the people taking it and I absolutely adore him.
Do not buy the textbook, I did not use it once. And many others did not. Attendance is not mandatory and I went to class 3 times. Super simple just read the notes he provides. Tests are open note and the final is optional if you want to boost your credit.
Don't buy the textbook, I didn't and was completely fine. I went to class on the first day and never again. All the things you are graded on are online and super easy. Seemed like a nice prof on the first day with a passion for psych but if you're looking for an easy GUR this is it. Just stay on top of the weekly assignments and you'll be fine.
This class was super simple on assignments and what you needed to get a good grade in this class. Prof Czopp is super engaging in his lectures and super helpful in his office hours if you need anything. Definitely would take this class with him
This professor has a great sense of humor and makes his lectures very entertaining, useful, and informative. Even in his exams, he adds funny jokes that make them more enjoyable. Although he has strict deadlines on assignments, he gives us plenty of opportunities for extra credit points. Overall, he is an exceptional professor.
Such fun lectures and you can tell he really cares about the subject. Very clear teaching, I understood practically everything he taught. Exams were long but easy if you took notes, notes are CRUICAL. just a cool guy I would hang out with
This class made me apply for the psychology major in my first quarter of college. I love Professor Czopp. He is amazing. His lectures are engaging, funny, and highly informative. I only skipped one lecture during the whole quarter. Dr. Czopp is amazing!!!!!! Take his class.
Fantastic professor. I had him in my first quarter at WWU, and he's still probably my favorite lecturer at the school, even though I'm in my third quarter right now. He was so funny. I would recommend reading the textbook, but I talked to someone who got a B just by attending lectures. Definitely use the study guides he makes!! So helpful
Super fun! His lectures were amazing. You have to take lots of notes but class didn't feel rushed. I really learned as it was taught, not later when I reviewed my notes. We do experiments and get to analyze past studies. All around a great guy, even better professor.
At the beginning of the course he told us that his quizzes and tests would be bested on situations that we apply our knowledge too, I won't lie, I was groaning in my head. However I found this approach to be really helpful as in his lectures he provides very personalized stories and examples. Very nice and friendly teacher.
super funny and the main objective is to understand the examples of things you learn, which often he gives in the lectures which help understand the concept. There are random quizzes that show up sometimes so beware because you'll never know when there will be one. Czopp overall is super fun and willing to answer all questions he can.
Professor Czopp provides a very fun and engaging course. You have to put in the work, but he makes it as easy as possible for you to get points in class. If you're willing to show up, do the work, and engross yourself in the lectures, this class is a breeze. If you slack a lot, you will probably still pass, just expect a low B or high C.
I struggled because Alex Czopp's teaching felt stuck in the past. With mandatory attendance and Scantron exams, the course came across as jurassic psychology rather than a class designed for how students learn today.
Alex is genuinely one of my favorite professors I have had at Western. He is great at what he does and great at making sure you understand the material, but he is also just genuinely nice. If you can, always take him. 307 is tough, but I honestly think the way he teaches it makes it a lot easier.
Amazing professor. Super funny and uses real examples that make concepts easy to understand. Lectures are engaging and explained well, expect random quizzes (usually Fridays). Lots of extra credit, very empathetic, and answers questions fast. One of my favorite professors at WWU.
Dr. Czopp was obviously incredibly knowledgeable in the subject material, and the way he taught an entry level course exceeded the standard. His lectures are informative, and he often has an applicable story to help remember. He has the occasional pop quiz, but they're for little points, and you can miss a couple and be fine. Overall, great prof.
Good organization, very regular assignments that stopped me from procrastinating. I felt that he over-explained easy material & under-explained hard material. You can mansplain in your homework responses for better grades. Loved that he let us pick our own research project to run! Very approachable guy. Sometimes calls on students randomly.
