He just liked to sit and talk but it was interesting. You have to take notes from what he says cuz he doesn't have a set agenda. Participate in class and write down the problems cuz that's all the tests are.

He is a great teacher. Very laid back and likes to have open discussions. Participate and your pretty much set. If your the kid that is the butt of his jocks ..you got an A. This is a great class for girls..look cute and you got an A.

Don't ask him to speak up, he doesn't take kindly to that. Be prepared for him to be overly critical of answers given in class. Uses lots of intimidation, but knows his stuff. Pay attention in class and bravely add to class discussion, you will do ok.

Prof. Devience is one of DePaul's best teachers. He loves law--he eats and breathes it. He could be intimidating, but he's really a nice guy. I got an A in his class and I enjoyed every minute of his class.

Prof Devince is OK. He won't fail anyone, the lowest grade that you can receieve is a C. It is good to participate and to go to his office and talk personally with him. The more "friends" you become with him, the better the grade!! OVerall, the call is easy, no homework: 1 quiz, midterm and final !!

prof devience is so far my favorite teacher in the business school. i learned tons of useful things. you also dont have to do the readings just pay attention in class, take good notes, and study. homework is optional.

Probably the most sarcastic teacher I have ever had, has a tendency to make fun of students but it really is hilarious. He is very clear and never collects homework. He is not the easiest grader but he is fair. Just show up, pay attention, and read before the tests and you will get an A.

He is an excellent professor. I would strongly recommend that anybody take him if at all possible. This might be his last year unfortunately.

By far the best teacher I've ever had at DePaul. Just get on his good side, and back up your comments with good reasoning from the book (which you should read and read well). If you can back up what you say, you're golden. Smart, sarcastic, hilarious, really can't say enough good things about him. I hope he didn't leave after Spring Quarter '05.

I had Devience for summer session II. He seems like he hates everthing and everyone, but it is his lawyer side. My advice to you is to read the chapters and come to class prepared for the questions. Answer questions even though you might not be correct. I got an "A" because I talked in class and answered questions. I prbably deserved a "B".

One of the coolest and most sincere teachers ever. His lectures were very interesting and grading very fair. I think he's gone now, but what a great teacher.

Was a very fun class and he is a great professor. He does expect you to know EVERYTHING though. His tests are difficult and he will try to trick you, but he is understanding when he is grading. It is basically impossible to fail but it is also tough to get an A. I would reccomend him to anyone.

Great teacher, great class. I easily learned a ton about business law by taking this class that I would recommend especially to those interested in, or are going into, the law field. I didn't think that Devience was too hard but he does expect you to know the material and have clear logic. If you don't like LAW oriented classes, then don't take em.

Outstanding professor. All the students that take his class become instant law-student wannabes. He just makes the material so fun. He is a little intimidating at times, but in a very funny way. His classes are actually fun, and he fully explains everything on the exam. Go to class and you'll ace the exam. You won't want to miss his rants anyway.

Prof. Devience is hilarious and makes the hour and a half pass quickly. If you participate in class you can get points which will boost your grade and do the briefs/problems to guarantee you a decent grade. He is not easy but go to his study sessions and memorize things that he points out in specific. It should not be too difficult to get an A.

Yes, I'd agree with the two comments below as I had him the same quarter. Speaking up in class is wise, but really should be done in any DePaul class when your paying $25,000 in tuition. Do the homework, take GOOD notes in class, and attend review session (even if you have to miss class, as I did). Do that should help you to earn an "A" or "B".

Devience is touch but he's a great teacher. He knows his stuff and he teaches in a way thats easy to understand and he's also really funny. Although he can be intimidating you will get rewarded for participating in class, even if you're wrong. The class is 50% final 50% midterm but if you take good notes you'll be fine!

Big D is the definition of "THE MAN" or "BMOC". He comes off as a strict hard nosed kinda guy but is very intelligent and very funny. Prof. Devience has a really dry sense of humor and will pick on you in class. He's only kidding, and it makes the class more interesting. The reading is really dry. The midterm/final is short answer/essay. The midterm was easy, the final was incredibly difficult. He definitely knows law!

Prof Devience is amazing! One of my favorites at Depaul so far. He is so funny, I laughed the entire class. Mid & final are 45% each. Mid was pretty easy but I studied a lot and got a 93. Final harder but still ended up with an A. Get on his good side and talk to him about questions, and you're golden.

Professor Devience is a great teacher. The class relies heavily on readings from the text, but you can take away the important parts of the assignments from his lectures. Very straightforward, friendly, and funny. Overall a good teacher and i would take his class again.

Professor Devience is awesome! He has a great sense of humor and is fun to joke around with, even though his humor can be a little offensive sometimes (he called someone fat in our class). His class is not easy but if you participate a lot he will like you and it will help your grade tremendously.

I highly recommend him for students considering Law. He takes his class very seriously and doing the reading are vital, as well as keeping up with the questions! He is a great professor. His humor really keeps you engaged but do not take his comments to heart. Class is only the midterm and final which is all if not most blw classes. He really encourages class participation. If you participate he will add more points to your midterma and final. Really interesting class. Take him!

The class attendance isn't mandatory but he does add points to your midterm & final exam if you participate. His lectures are pretty entertaining and helpful. Go to lectures to know what topics he's focusing on & read the book about those topics to learn everything in detail. He's always helpful & takes the time to answer everything.

I enjoyed this class very much so. The Professor is great, might take some time to get his humor, but his knowledge and experience in law is what made this class enjoyable. If I have the chance to take more law classes I will definitely look up this Professor.

Attending class WILL improve your grade. His lectures will be useful information for the mid-term and final exam. The book alone is insufficient. READ ALL ASSIGNED CHAPTERS. I got a "B" but if I had put more consistent effort into the class I could have easily earned an "A". The book is necessary and cheaper as a download. Search Amazon.

Devience is the man. I was quoting him in my notes more than I actually took notes. It's very important to establish a relationship with him and either go to office hours or talk after class. I didn't do well on the midterm, but he saw my improved effort the second half and rewarded me with an A. Show up, participate, and have fun in this course.

I don't comment on professors often. However, I felt the need to do so with Deviance. He was one of the best professors I had at DePaul. The information was relevant and needs to be understood by anyone who plans on working with a business. He cares about students. That being said, the class is not easy. Put effort in, and you will be fine.

You are going to have to read in this class to know what you are talking. Professor Devience will push you to think. You will be surprised on how little details change everything in the decisions in law. Professor Devience wants his students to be successful as long as you put in the work. Take this class if you want to learn about law.

I took Dr. Devience back in the 90's so this is a pretty old review, but I remember needing to push through the class. Needing to have at least a not stupid answer for the questions, and even now still use what he taught. Education has a general payback, but what I learned in this class had one of the highest ROIs outside of my major. Thanks

Prof. Deviance is one of the best professors I've had a DePaul. He pushes you to think outside of the box and look for factors that would help you to understand the material. No answers are ever wrong to him, he loves when students participate and give their reasons on how they determine their answers or decisions. He is always there for students.

He truly understands law like the back of his hand. 50% Midterm and 50% Final so do your homework, participate in class, and turn in your homework for participation credit (he doesn't mention this but he does actually read your work). I would totally give an Oscar's to Professor Devience! This class is easy if you participate, Do your Briefs and questions, (he reads everything) and know the important information for Midterm and Final. He is always willing to work around with students. He strongly believes in second chances, as long as you are willing to put effort on class.

He is hilarious... you are absolutely going to love him. He challenges you to argue your point and corrects you if you are wrong in a very respectful way. But hey..! that's how we learn. Believe me! I have problems focusing and learning sometimes but when he corrects you or someone else, you will never forget what is the right answer. TAKE HIM..!!

Professor Devience is a great professor at DePaul. I could not be more grateful for having him as my professor in BLW 201. He is available for you if you have difficulty understanding the lectures. I jumped high in the air when I noticed he gave me an A. I can easily tell you he gave me so many chances to do well. Take him! You will love him!

Professor Devience really cares about you if you show that you're trying. There are only two grades in the class, midterm & final, but he gives extra points if you participate. His lectures + stories are really funny if you pay attention, and he'll make it really clear what he wants you to know. Lecture heavy, but worth it. Book is free online.

I took Professor Devience for BLW201. Excellent teacher overall. Yes, he requires you to read the chapters and brief the cases, but this honestly helped me learn the material. His midterm and finals are overall easy if you pay attention in class. He also offers review sessions before the midterm and final. I recommend you take him.

Devience is a solid teacher with a lot of experience as a lawyer (he tried a case in front of the Supreme Court). If you read the chapters, do the homework, and participate in class you should have no problem getting an A. Only grades are midterm and final but every question on the exams he will have lectured about in class.

Best professor at DePaul - hilarious and provided great real-world examples, which was useful for the midterm and final exam. He doesn't have a D2L page nor respond to e-mails, but try meeting with him during office hours! If he sees a student take interest in the course, he will help you do well.
