love this man. Sweet, helpful, great at 8am :)
everyone loves golger...he is very enthusiastic and easy to understand
HE ALWAYS MAKES SURE YOU WEAR YOUR SAFETY GAGGLES AND IS SMILING!

He'll open up a small secret and give you one important stuff! :)
Where are your gaggles?

Great professor, really interesting demonstrations in class. Be sure to wear your lab gaggles!!
He's a genius and a wonderful teacher.

Extremely enthuiastic. Good at explaining, but has accent. WEAR YOUR GAGGLES!!
CONFUSING! Very nice and helpful, but makes the subject boring.
Very nice, but I learn a lot better when I can understand what people are talking about. I have no idea what he's saying, EVER, and it has been a year.
the accent is at first hared to get past, but overall a good teacher. very enthusiastic and loves the little bunnys. wear ur gaggles
accent! er... but as a ESL student can understand when paying attention, i think it's not really that hard and confusing for most ppl as english is their first language. funny, interesting, but why Straub likes to stick his cathode in ur anode? works&
He makes the demos for chem 101 and 102. He's russian. Very helpful if you ask. Sweet humor
Golger is hilarious! His demonstrations are very interesting, and he says the funniest stuff, like "Wear your gaggles!" Great teacher!
Foreigner. Awesome
He is amazing. Golger is the only thing relating to chem that i actually like. He's totally hilarious too.
"ok guys, eez like thees" golger is the man.
As long as you wear your safety gaggles, you're good to go. Awesome teacher, even better at blowing things up. Id give him a hug.
lol as long as i wore my safety gaggles he was cool. umm a little hard to understand with the accent sometimes but hes demos rock for the most part :-)
Golger is the man. I always had to wear my safety gaggles but I will never forget this guy. He always mixed " this guy with this guy and you get this guy." I barely ever went to class but when I did I always wished golger had a demo
Lots of fun and very wacky
an ok guy. you can never understand him through his accent and he has a bit of a temper.
Golger is the god of chemistry; he's so funny and you've gotta love his russian accent, copper sulfate pentahydrate; does the coolest demos and makes sure you always wear your safety gaggles
Gotta love the demos. Lab component of the course will probably save my grade. Nice guy, very helpful in lab.
Haha-He is so cute with his russian accent- sometimes hard to understand but what he says is not that important and if it is- you can get the info from the lab manual anyways
What a nice guy. Sometimes his accent can be difficult to understand, but he really works hard at making lab material interesting
I miss Golger! Come teach orgo lab, please!
Golger is cool! His russian accent rules,is not hard to understand, don't need to pay attention to him, demos rock the lectures (wish he could teach lectures-the class wouldbe better)labs and lab final really easy, lab quizzes fine if you read manual,OK GUYS!
THE GREATEST!!!
GOGLER RULZ MAN, I LOVED IT WHEN HE DID HIS "PARTY BOY" ROUTINE. IT WAS HUMONGOUS, DID KNOW HE WAS PACKIN.

His sense of humor is a love it or hate it kind of thing. I love it, why doesn't this guy teach lecture? I'd take him over my lecture Prof anyday. His accent is not hard to understand either.. "Cupric Sulfate Pentahydrate"
I LOVE GOLGER. I am sad he isn't doing a prelab for 102 this fall, I always looked forward to a fun prelab with him. The accent is what does it....."K guys?!"
Golger is the man, and he has a kind heart too. His pre-lab lecture is taught at a very fast pace, but everything he says is in the lab manual(he wrote it), so not to worry. His experiments in lecute rule!!!!! He always has a smile on his face.
Yeah, so he's ok- but plan to fail lab quizzes and postests period.
golger is lots of fun..."1,2,3...5"...yeah i wish we had him for orgo :-(
Good guy - knows what he's doing, especially since he wrote the lab manual. Should definitely teach lecture. And he doesn't accept stupid answers to obvious questions from the people in the front of pre-labs, which makes everything better.
Golger is the man. He knows exactly what he's talking about and is funny too! He answers questions precisely..unlike certain Tool professors. "What we haff to do to make dis electron happy?" Take any classes with him you can, K GUYS
The best the chemistry dept. has to offer. If they could clone him so that he could teach lectures and discussion I would take the class again just for the laughs. He's clear, funny, and generally just a good guy. Basically, he is the rox0r.
Chem prelabs are useless. And there are alot of mistakes in the lab manual. But he's a funny guy and he makes chemistry at least bearable
Prelabs are useless, but he is funny. He helps out during lab period, but since he wrote the lab manual, just read that and you'll get it. He knows alot, and is pretty laid back. Accent a little difficult, but cool.
Good and interesting lecturer for prelab although prelab was useless if you read lab manual. Helpful in lab. Poor organization for adminster of this course.
prelab is useless if you read the book. he is kind of a snot, but his lab manual is very straightforward.
OMG I just rembered there was such a thing as pre-lab... didn't go once all year. Funny, still did fantastic on all lab quizes and reports. I remember from 101 that he's funny and entertaining, although useless. INTRO CHEM IS SO DISORGANIZED. And that quantum stuff from 101? WHAT? Failed those tests
gen chem sucked, the only thing i liked about the class was golger's prelabs. completely unnecessary, but id go just for entertainment. this guy is hilarious. "take one and pass it by. you will need googles for dees wet lop" hahah
what a cute little funny russian man..he's hilarious
Can't figure out why this guy has a pepper by his name. Very nice and understanding, even if you miss/accidentally skip a post test. No attendance in pre-lab, and he wrote the manual so it's really pointless to attend. However, when you do computer labs, post tests get tricky.
Dr. Golger is great! He is very clear in his lectures and it's worth it to go to prelab. A lot of material, especially with the computer labs, is practically undoable if you don't. Great class overall!
Welcome to pre lab. Do u want to be doctor...his most overused phrase...that and 'for 5points' seriously go to prelab for entertainment, 5 points which get added to lab grade, or to simply sleeP.
Great as long as you don't try to talk to him 1-1 about your grade. Will say that you were lazy in lab, didn't work hard enough, will ask you if you want to be a doctor, and if you are, in fact, pre-med, he'll be like "ohh...why?" and basically imply that you are too stupid to be a doctor. Yeaaa, crappy class, and makes you feel like crap. Sucks.
omg cant understand a word he says and if u think looking at the overhead to see what hes writing down will help ur wrong because his handwriting sucks ..prelab is a waste of time unless u need a good laugh ..dont ask him for help on a lab the tf's know much more than him
Golger is a joke. I'm sure he knows what he's talking about but he has no interest in helping those who aren't innately good at chem learn. He's impossible to understand and laughs at you if you ask a "dumb" question. If you want to go to med school don't tell him because he'll tell you that you'll never get in with your grades in the class.
It's worth going to pre-lab just to experience golger's antics. The experience is better if you're sitting with a friend. He's a bit of a stickler with the 'five points' so sit in the front and be seen.
Gen chem is hard. It's a weed out course for premed. Golger is great. He's really funny. Going to prelab really helps. If you answer a question you get 5 points and trust me you will need them. Just pay attention and know labs in detail. Your lab grade is there to help you not hurt you. If you need help, go to his office hours.
Having him for pre-lab has been so fun because of his accent! getting those 5 extra points for answering questions has been extremely helpful. Go to pre-lab to get those points!
Going to pre-lab wasn't necessary, but it was definitely helpful. Golger's a funny guy and knows what he's talking about, so it was somewhat enjoyable.
Whoever said Golger is clear and easy to understand must be a native RUSSIAN. Because I cannot understand one word he says, let alone one word he writes. He doesn't even give us enough time to copy down his scribbles and chicken scratch, because he switches the overhead projector slides every 15 seconds. Just read the lab manual.
Hilarious guy, but hard to follow if you can't understand his accent (Russian?). Notes on overhead, which are hard to read because his handwriting's awful, but try your best. He'll explain what he writes. Explains chem concepts better than lecture - go to pre-lab even though it's boring;he'll ask questions worth 5 pts to your final lab grade!
He's amazing. The accent alone is really awesome and he's really funny. He uses fun situations to explain hard concepts and I got the 5 extra points every time! I loved Golger if I could repeat this year I would go to prelab more often it really helps with lab and you don't have to study for the prelab quiz if you read before prelab.
He's great. Really funny and his accent is interesting. He puts everything you need to know in the lab manual so read that very carefully. He is helpful and approachable though he does not seem like it at times, and unlike the other chem professors, always answers questions and replies to emails. Great dude.
Golger's the best professor I've ever had. If you read the lab manual like the Bible, (before pre-labs and lab days), then you'll do fine in lab for his class. He is an incredibly kind and caring person and tries his hardest to make the learning experience as good as he can for all of his students. One of those teachers you never forget.
GOLGER IS THE BEST. can't understand a word he says but his accent is so cool. He says the funniest things and I have no idea what he's talking about but you will be cracking up throughout the whole lecture. He honestly was the only thing I enjoyed about chem. FIVE POINTS!
Golger is a great professor! His accent kind of builds a language barrier but he is very clear and explains concepts very well. Attend pre-lab because there are quizzes! The lab tests are easy too but it helps to review the material. He prepares you very well for lab and loves participation and tries to be funny which makes the class interesting.
Difficult to understand due to his accent and in my experience, condescending as well.
Awful professor! Condescending and difficult to understand. Plays favorites and only gives 5 points to the chosen few.
Golger has a thick accent so it's important to pay attention. Sit towards the front to help with concentration. He reviews exactly what's needed for the labs. The quizzes are a good reflection of the subjects. He really helps to clarify the lab processes. He can be rude though when responding to a wrong answer. I won't mind having him again.
Dr. Golger is awesome!! Everything he teaches is MCAT material. He is clear, kind and helpful. He always took time to explain any concepts that escaped me after class or during office hours. Plus, you can get extra points if you attend prelab, and he treats you like a medical school student, not an undergrad. Love him!!
Golger has a somewhat thick accent, and it is difficult to follow what he says sometimes during pre-lab. But he is also a really funny guy. Being prepared for pre-lab is essential though.
Alex Golger is an incomprehensible professor. The only thing you need to do before his lecture is that you must read the provided materials and you will be on the safe side. His accent extends to abnormally silly levels. But you will still have him for CH101 and CH102
Professor Golger is awesome and makes CH 101 a little easier. Just know that he does have an accent so make sure you get a decent understanding of the material before coming to class. Likewise, raise your hand to answer questions and he may give you extra points.
I found him to be very condescending and unhelpful. He didn't even respond to my emails asking to set up meetings because I wasn't free during him office hours.
Accent was hard to understand. Funny guy. Will try to help you to the best of his ability if you are confused. I only went to pre-lab for the quizzes and extra credit. If there wasn't a quiz, there's a big chance I didn't attend. He covers the same things that are in the lab manual. (Rating only based on lab part of CH101)
Love him! Funny and good at explaining exactly what is required of you in lab. He makes me actually want to go to class.
Funny guy, and I love his accent and analogies! Gotta make sure I actively listen though, or I miss a ton. Could probably read the manual and learn the same as you would from prelab. I went mostly bc of quizzes and partially to clarify info. He gives '5 pts' as extra cred, but it doesn't seem fair as I never got called despite knowing the answers.
Can't understand a word of what he says, but pre lab was my favorite ch101 component. CH101 is evil but pre lab makes it a bit less severe. Also, he gives out 5pts for people that answer questions about the current lab correctly so read up on labs beforehand!
Dr. Golger takes complete control of the lecture hall. He's awesome, funny, and encourages participation. I'm not sure about the extra 5 points per question answered correctly, but the lab was the most straightforward portion of CH101. (Rating only based on lab portion.)
He's funny, he's Russian, he's a completely unassuming old man... how could you not like him? It's easy to stay engaged or if you want to pass out? Go for it. Just make sure you wake up for the one clicker question per prelab lecture
I'm not sure if it's because we're online or what, but it's REALLY hard to understand what this man is saying. He's hilarious at times - cracks a few jokes/says funny things here and there. His accent is THICK as HECK! Just take screenshots of the slides and you'll be fine. Prelab is a joke anyway, you go over everything in lab again.
I love Golger's energy. I reread the prelab instructions anyway, so I didn't have to pay attention during lecture and just enjoyed his accent and presence.
