Most down-to-earth teacher that loves to help out his students and enjoys seeing them grow. He was the only reason that I always came to class because not a lot of students were showing up to class and it looked like it was making him sad. Overall, a great professor that teaches the information well and is great to talk to.
Awesome professor. Tries to relate a lot of things to todays culture and even offered extra credit a few times for students who showed up to class
I can't speak for how Alex is in person but I took BUS101 online and it was very easy. As long as you do all the work, you should get an A. We used an online textbook that you didn't have to read but I'm glad I did. Reading took about 30 minutes a week. There is one major group project that he gives good feedback on when you turn in the rough.
Alex is incredibly friendly and likeable. He works hard to make the material relatable and has a good sense of humor. Homework is pretty straightforward. The business project is the biggest assignment, and he gives great feedback throughout the course and is lenient with his grading. Overall, awesome professor who really cares about his students.
Easy class as long as you do your homework by the deadlines, which shouldn't be hard. Most of the homework is easy as long as you find the "check answer" button. All info is on quizlet/socratic. Hardest part was group business project and was still easy if you follow outline from book.
Professor Ritz is a wonderful instructor. He is super friendly, understanding, and motivational. The course load is not super heavy, but definitely stay on track and do the work - it isn't difficult. Beware that there is one big group project, but you get to rate your partners at the end, and he is very sympathetic if you have a sucky group.
Professor Ritzman is great. I went to his office hours every week and he is such a good professor. Always willing to help, and always asked for feedback on the assignments and the class overall. He is genuine and funny and kind and I definitely recommend him!!!
Prof Ritz is the best!! He's pretty casual and laid back, and genuinely cares about his students. Class isn't mandatory, but I would recommend going to create a relationship with him and learn from his experience and real life examples. Homework load isn't bad; there is one big group project but it's pretty simple and straightforward.
Easily one of the most caring and funny professors out there. There was quite a bit of homework but if you do it you'll have no problem doing well in the class.
Easiest professor that you can take for business 101 and yet learn so much. Alex is a super caring teacher and wants you to succeed in his class. Usually just a few assignments a week and a quiz that is very easy. One big group project that you work on the whole year. Grades super nicely.
This was my first intro to COBE courses & Prof Ritzman is the reason I'm staying and pursuing business. He's one of the best professors I've had. He cares about each of his students to thrive & has real-life experiences that he shares during lectures. Amazing prof. and super funny! Weekly work isn't too hard and one group project that's fun! 10/10!
Prof. Ritzman was my fav. prof this semester. His lectures were entertaining and I always felt like I actually learned. The work was always straightforward and easy to finish if you read the textbook or take notes in class. There is one big group project you work on the whole semester but it is not hard. Definitely recommend to anyone!
His lectures are always entertaining and he has a solid way of engaging students while teaching. The workload is never too bad, and its easy to finish all of it. Also very available and approachable outside of class. I've been to office hours multiple times and every time he's happy to help with questions an to just engage with the students.
Mr. Ritzman is such a great guy and professor. He cares about his students and the class isnt hard at all. Theres a few reading assignments and homework due at the end of the week every week that you can finish in five minutes. I really enjoyed his class and his lectures and he was very engaging in caring with all of his students
Ritzman is great. Flat out. He is a friendly guy who is fun to listen to. His class is pretty easy conceptually but be prepared for a fair amount of homework. Every week you will have at least one chapter reading, one discussion post, two discussion post replies, and one quiz. Overall, despite the homework, I would definitely take this class again.
Ritz is super cool and funny. His class is easy and enjoyable. 10/10 recommend
Alex is a great guy and a caring professor. Class is super easy homework doesn't take long and test are taken right from homework and lectures. There is a group project which is easy if everyone in your group participates, he grades it super easy.
Bus101 was a large lecture & I found attendance was not important because the topics covered in class are identical to the homework questions and reading. The final is a group project, easy with grading but did not provide a large amount of guidance. Consistent workload week to week, usually a total of around 1-4 hours of homework questions a week.
Great Prof.
It is clear Professor Ritzman cares about his students. His lectures are fun to go to and the workload each week is easy compared to other classes. Easy to get a good grade in his class as long as you do the work. Tests were pretty simple as well.
**Attendance is mandatory**. I hear attendance wasn't taken in years past, but I have been required to check in every lecture. Lectures can get boring, but they're always informative and full of real stories. Ritz is definitely a professor you'll want to take for business.
Alex has an interesting class with engaging material. He is fun to listen to.
I took the online class, and it's practically cake. Super straightforward and mostly the same work criteria each week. My only complaint is that in the online class, the expectations for the business plan are extremely vague and practically entirely guesswork. I got A's on the business plan, but it definitely requires thorough thinking.
Super chill dude. Always answers emails and made a good effort to reach out to students
best professor i have ever had. cared so much about his students and replied to emails quickly. goes through each sector in business to help you figure out what you want to do! attendance isnt mandatory but his lectures are so amazing that you want to go.
you dont need to attend this class at all honestly its really nice in the way that all the assignments are online and once you stop attending i mean theres really no reason to go back because you will end up not attending. Alex is cool i really didnt learn anything so if you care about that well that is unfortunate and you should just cry.
Mr.Ritz is one of the best professors I have had. He is very knowledgeable and teaches well. I also love how positive he is and cares about his students. He also makes himself accessible and he responds to emails in a timely manner considering how many students he has. Take this class! It never caused any stress in my life which is rare for college
Ritzman was my favorite professor this year by far. He is hilarious and makes each lecture uplifting and fun. He also is extremely informative and has a passion for the coursework he is teaching. He requires iClicker for attendance and there are around 3-4 assignments per week, along with two projects for the entire course. Take his class!
Ritzman was a great entry level business class professor. Very easy and straightforward. I had bad experiences with the group project because it was such a big class, but the individual work was a piece of cake.
Ritzman is a kind man who genuinely cares about the subject he teaches. His lectures are easy to understand and engaging. The homework was relevant to course material and rarely took me longer than 2 hours per week. Take Ritzman!
If you do one thing at BSU take Mr. Ritz. He is amazing and is lectures are actually very interesting. He cares a lot about his students and if the vibe is off he ends class early. If you fail this class then you are the problem.
Overall a great class, with a chill vibe. Chapter quizzes are simple if notes are taken. Readings are reasonable and easy to note take with.
This class is super easy, absolutely an easy A. The only thing with difficulty would be the group project, which is also fairly easy. Just make sure to participate so that you don't get your grade brought down by peer evaluations right before finals week. I didn't learn a lot, but this class is entry-level, so I wasn't expecting to.
He's super nice and gives great examples. Lectures are interesting and easy to sit through. Class is easy if you just finish the assignments every week and stay caught up on the Business Plan group project
Ritzman is so great! Very personable and cares a lot. 1 big group project throughout the semester, several small homework assignments per week so expect about 4 hours of work a week. His lectures are great and extremely helpful. I learned a lot!!
Great professor, business plan project sucked but not hard. Really enjoyed his class.
Mr. Ritzman is the best ever. His lectures are always super interesting and I actually really enjoyed coming to class to learn. He is super nice and understanding, and is a really easy grader. This class isn't stressful at all, I really enjoyed it!
I took the condenses 5-week version of this class over the summer. It was grueling, and it was VERY hard when my group mates did not contribute at all to the LONG business case project. I told Prof Ritzman and he was very understanding! I ended up getting 105% on that project. Thank you Ritz!!! Prayer hands prayer hands
He literally asked my class if he should get a mullet or not and he did. He's so funny and really understanding about your personal life outside of class.
He was great!
Great guy and easy class spent about 3 hours per week on the assignments and really one actual project that is in a group but could be done alone. 10/10
Very easy work it is just the matter of doing the work. He records attendance for a grade but you will pass even if you don't show up to class. One group project that isn't very hard.
He is by far my favorite professor I have had. He cracks jokes and loves talking to his students and you can tell he genuinely likes his job. You are graded on attendance but not very heavily and the homework is pretty simple, it can just be somewhat time consuming. All exams and test are open note as well!
I loved taking this class with Mr. Ritzman. Lectures tend to get boring but you can multitask and get other classes done while still listening to him. Absolutely no homework.
Class was a cakewalk. All assignments are online and graded based on completion. Even the final is online and unproctored. Uses iClicker for attendance.
Professor Ritzman was an awesome teacher. The class was really easy and he made the class very enjoyable. Make sure to take Professor Ritzman for your Bus 101 class.
Professor Ritzman is super cool. He doesn't overcomplicate the topic and is super helpful!
Ritzman was awesome. Class has pretty boring content and he lectures everyday but he makes it fun and engaging. Totally recommend. He does grade attendance but if you miss classes you wont fall behind. Class work and exams are super easy.
Although a nice guy, I found Professor Ritzman's lectures to be super boring and monotone. He lectures for almost the entire class time multiple times a week. The assignments are not very difficult. Not a bad guy or class, but also not interesting or engaging in my opinion.
This was my favorite professor this year. He responds quickly. Cares about what he is teaching and his students. 10/10 all around.
very nice and truly cares about his students
Amazing professor at BSU. The assignments may take a while to complete like the connect practice assignments. However, he is super helpful and polite. Highly recommend his class!!!!
Super awesome and wanting to help the students. His classes can feel long by the end of the semester but he is always willing to help you out if you show up and show even the slightest bit of effort.
The main project is a group project which is honestly super fun. Ritzman is super caring and makes a connection with each one of his students. I wish I could take him for all BUS classes. He makes everything super understandable and easy to understand. All homework is due on the same days and are easy if you break them up.
Absolutely loved Mr. Ritz. Even though it was a big lecture hall he always made sure he had time for all his students. Loved every class, and if you showed up to class most assignments were basically done in class.
Awesome sense of humor, great guy, and super easy class.
Seriously, tries too hard. Easy class, easy grade so far this semester but definitely not one of the best lecturers I have had at BSU. Prepare to nap early and often in this class.
LOVE him! Super caring and is hilarious in the lecture. Class is easy.
Literally just had to do online questions, concepts, and quizzes weekly but he does iclicker so attendance was kind of necessary but you never missed anything in class if you missed.
Literally the easiest class at BSU. Didn't learn much of anything here. I now know why this school ranks so low academically against others. This kind of instructor. Really was disappointed, learned more working in my Dad's body shop than taking this class. Same syllabus and same everything from when my sister took this class a few years ago.
The teacher is amazing and always makes us students laugh. His bus101 class was really heavy in notes, so be prepared to write a lot. ALL his tests and quizzes are online and not proctored (including the finals and midterms).
No thrills here. Glad to be back on campus and glad to be done with Ritzman. Boring business class. Worst instructor all semester. Pulled out a B by doing what everyone else does, the minimum. You get what you get with a Prof like Alex.
Shows that he cares about his students and cares about his evals. Easy class, easy grades. Just not strong in areas of business in general. Abuses the PowerPoint a little much. YAWN 🥱
Mr. Ritzman is a great professor, I enjoyed his class and lectures greatly throughout the semester, homework is very easy and the business project is given clear instructions directly tied into the lectures in class.
I LOVED his class, and having him as my professor saved my freshmen year, he's very understanding, passionate about his topic, and has a teaching style that is compatible with just about all students. Not to mention, his assignments were always easy yet educational. His ranking says it all.
Just do the work in his class and you'll be fine. If you are looking for entertainment, he's not it. Ritzman tries hard but doesn't have real world experience and knowledge hasn't improved in the game of business. Easy class just boring.
Show up and be ready to hear the same stories that previous students have talked about. I would have to agree with other reviews on here, Ritzman is nice and genuine, at least he seems, but not a real instructor that I adore paying thousands of dollars for to take that has lacking business skills. My family has taught me more than this guy.
Professor Ritzman is really fun, and I enjoyed taking his class. This class is an easy A, and he'll tell you that. Always available for help if needed, and very reasonable. While class was engaging and informative, he often simply lectured off of his slide without much pertinent information. Great class, and very clearly a great person.
This guy rules. The is attendance through Iclicker like once a week. Funny dude, down to earth, and cares about his class and students. Course isn't hard, absolutely recommend.
Course is a cake walk for even those who can't do math. Prof sucks. Loves to make up information. Fact check him during lectures is hilarious. He is worse than our Prez. Only if you have to have this guy.
Great professor, has a fast paced lecture style that is good for note taking. Super kind and has a great sense of humor. Highly recommend.
This is very basic with a very basic nice guy as an instructor. Easy grade but parents be mindful, doesn't give a lot of quality to the education. Loves to hear himself talk. Not a lot of participation matters just showing up does.
The GOAT. super chill guy and hard class to fail. as long as you do your business plan you will pass this class with flying colors. everything in this class is Chat GPT-able. on average this class took 30 minutes of my time per week.
Overall, loved taking BUS101 with Mr. Ritz. Super approachable and very understanding. If you ever have an issue with an assignment just reaching out and touch base with him. Attendance does matter though, as he uses iclicker. Although, the lecture is light and he normally lets you out early. Highly recommend this professor!
Mr. Ritzman is amazing. He is very understanding and as long as you talk to him he will extend due dates. Has weekly assignments which are impossible to get below a 100%, and really easy tests and quizes. Has 2 projects, but they are easy and lightly graded. give extra credit for 95%+ attendance.
Showing up for class is not technically needed, however you will be graded on it. If you show up for more than 95% of the days, you get extra credit too. Assignments are impossible to fail, as are the take home tests and quizzes. Overall really easy, but boring.
Boring lectures, instructor judges you. Attendance does matter, need to show. Boring class overall and would not recommend taking this instructor if you don't have to.
Im surprised that there are so many bad reviews for Professor Ritz, I really enjoyed his class and it was very low maintenance and the assignments were very easy to follow and impossible to fail. I think his lectures were very straight forward and covered exactly what the tests were on (not proctored). Overall very easy and great class.
He made me not want to stay as a Business Major. Lecture heavy courses and loves the clicker. I transferred in to a business high school class. There is no real accountability
Super nice guy and very understanding of personal issues. Online, you just have a bunch of textbook assignments in this online program, and a few discussion posts as well as two projects. If you put in a teeny amount of effort and turn stuff in, you'll be guaranteed an A. One of the easiest classes I've taken.
Read read read. Stupid A but so is every other class here at Walmart diploma central. Easy A don't expect much from instructor. Waste of money if you ask me. I was disappointed from the first day.
He's a fraud. Assumed it when all he does is make us read, get graded by minimal assignments, and his lectures snore you asleep. Just be prepared for textbook intensive. Doesn't help he rates himself on here to keep an image he falsifies.
He's average at best. Content he teaches was boring. Instructor tries hard but isn't what you would hope for as a first business class instructor. No more with him.
Not a healthy experience in business intro. I wish they had someone other than Ritz teaching the class but it is what it was. He seems nice, but didn't learn much in class. General info, read the text, take a test, and call it what it is. He never really brought anything to the table. His TA's told me he likes to write his own reviews. Funny.
No thanks. NOT THE EXAMPLE I expected. Worst prof I have this semester. I'm frustrated with BSU in general and their academics. This guy Ritz is a hard pass
ALOT OF LECTURES. all he does it lecture every class and then leaves us with a crap ton of homework .
Just so you know Broncos, Ritz writes his own ratings and deletes any he doesn't like and RMP allows him too. Bottom line is, he isn't good. Not a good professor, way friendly with the ladies and has no experience in business. You'll have to endure the same pain I do if you like business.
I found the course to be fairly easy, but also informative. For an introductory business course, I think you determine your level of learning. I also think some of the lower reviews are based on the curriculum rather than him, but it is fair to say all of COBEs courses don't match what we pay. It is more of a systematic issue than a professor one.
Not worth the price you pay. Prof wrote his last review. No Bronco talks about systemic issues. lol. Come on Professor. Simply because you lie and all of us in back row know you do, we will continue to share our own opinions. Get real experience for once.
Class has potential to be good but it's very book level with no extra frills. Instructor is ok if you like boring. Need real world experiences as a thought. I personally wouldn't take him again if I don't have and I hope I don't. Very intro class with no real outside experience.
He likes to push his agenda in class. Why we need to hear about his politics is beyond all of us back here. We are literally listening to you and writing this while in class. Your lectures are not inspiring. You've been chosen as our worst prof of semester so far. Good work Prof Ritz. Do better for all us Broncos. Never take again.
Participation matters. You will want to have your clicker ready. Class is lame for business course. Prof Ritz is glam on the ladies and unkind to the men. Fear the boredom but it's real.
Amazing professor! He may seem a little boring, but if you need extra time or have any questions he loves chatting it up! He loves fishing the river and loves it when you ask him questions about anything. Shows high amounts of respect to you and outside school life, just show up and take notes and you'll easily get an A grade.
Prof Ritz writes his own reviews Broncs to disguise himself as a good instructor. Who writes he fishes the river? See below. Come on Ritz. You know better. You're not that good and stop giving yourself 5s and stop losing integrity with the students.
He is honestly a really nice teacher. And if you took Economics in high school, you should be fine for this class. Literally, you will get an A if you show up to class. The only way you even have a chance of not passing is by not doing your homework, which doesn't take that long. :)
Don't let the recent slew of bad reviews fool you, because clearly, there is some salty person who comes on here and rewrites the same thing over and over lol. He does talk in a monotone, but his class isn't bad for an intro course.
Read through the negative they all have truth to it. Rough experience. Terrible at teaching.
The goat. My king. Love this guy. He's hip with the times. Made a 67 joke. King. Easy class.
Amazing teacher. Don't know why people are saying he sucks at teaching but I've learned a lot from this class.
Clear and concise professor.
Such an easy and nice professor
HE IS AMAZING AND SO NICE!!
Alex Ritzmen is a great professor! He is very chill and nice and makes the BUS101 curriculum bearable. Class is very lecture-heavy; you get what you put in. Lots of benefits to engaging in both class and conversation with him. Would recommend!
LOVE this class and such a positive teacher! Also really easy to approach and ask questions. Easy homework and easy grader! Take this class!! Also he is really funny!
I loved this class so much! He was always so positive and was great at answering any questions or concerns. There is a lot of material on McGrawHills which was time consuming but helpful. Everything was open note so make sure to take notes!
He is super nice and likes to chat with students before the class starts to get to know them. Attendance is taken but I would say attendance isn't mandatory to get a good grade. The lectures are based off of the reading.
Super light, he super chill
Ritz writes his own reviews on here. Code Broncs, he is not legit in knowledge loves to kiss the ladies and has not consistent lecture to book. Worst prof I had all semi. Definitely a zero
Doesn't have real world experience and I learned more using AI than any real examples he tried to apply in class lectures. Not worth a darn penny and not worth the time. I wanted to learn real world and got nothing but his attempt at knowing anything but learning nothing. I wouldn't recommend. By the way, writes his own reviews on here.
Old school class. He tried. Probably rank the lowest of my 5 courses. Tries to be funny but didn't really laugh and didn't really teach any business lessons. He is not someone I am inspired to stay studying business with. So disappointed.
Wouldn't recommend taking again. Does he date Broncos? It's weird. Learned nothing.
chillest professor on campus. ritzman is really relaxed and grades really easily. if you somehow fail this class or get less than a B there is a high chance you are developmentally delayed.
Ritz is a great person but he is not great for teaching business. He doesn't really have any experience with business and his examples in class did not reinforce critical knowledge. Save your time and money and find a business professor that'll teach you real business lessons, not just read out of the textbook.
All he does is read powerpoint slides then act like he knows business. I was hoping for more real world business experience from a professor. He did come from high school straight in, so that shows. Exams are basic, but real world examples that are applicable in business are not demonstrated.
Read the textbook as the lectures are meaningless. Attendance isn't mandatory but suggested. Instructor Ritz has no business experience and teaches straight from the slides. There are better out there.
Tried to be your best friend in the lecture room. Large class so you will be hidden among others. Didn't learn much in the class. Had better professors in other classes. Loves to read PowerPoint every class, others posts below are genuine and spot on. Has no relevant business experience. I was frustrated with easy A. That's bad.
Read the slides. Use the app and you can snooze thru class since Prof adds nothing. No real business experience so don't expect to take reigns on your future. May be chill, but use AI to verify his lies in the lecture. There are many and often.
Relaxed but there are truths in the other reviews. Teaches from PowerPoint and can use AI to pass class and not falling asleep listening to his pretend lectures. Definitely has a liking towards the ladies but is ok with guys.
The facts are, he loves to teach from PowerPoint, loves to talk, laid back collecting a check while not giving us anything of value to apply in real business. Not the worst, definitely not the best. He is a 1 and done for me.
Do the work and sleep thru lectures and u will get A. Dull lectures. I recommend he take speech classes but oh well. Won't take him again.
Reads lectures from the big screen. No real application of business. UI does better. Will be transferring.
Learned more about business from high school in Cali. Boring lectures, nothing to apply here and doesn't teach outside a small box. Lots of students very laid back, definitely would not take again ever.
Lecture heavy. I left a positive teaching eval only because they see them. He misleads. AI taught me more about business than the instructor ever did. So sad to pay tuition for a class like this. Clicker ready…..go.
PowerPoint Prof 100%. No real life experience. Laid back for ladies, all game w guys. Not easiest to get a hold of. Had 4 other profs better than Ritz. Huge negative is I wouldn't wish this guy on anyone. Didn't learn any business acumen.
He cares. He is present. His lectures are yawn and he is indeed a PowerPoint teacher with zero business experience. All those reviews are probably accurate. If you do the work, it's easy. Be clicker ready. You learn nothing outside of class but only what an old text teaches and he preaches off those slides.
A lot of ratings that when I read them have truth in everything. He cares. He has favorites. He's immature in business, and teaches off PowerPoint. Doesn't have real business experience so his slides are his business. Lectures make you fall asleep and thank goodness for clickers. Never would take again.
It's business intro. You won't learn much hands on. It doesn't help the instructor doesn't apply anything. Very dull and yes, be ready for clicks and sleep in class.
Better business profs out there who teach more effective real life lessons in business. Professor Ritz is not that professor. He obviously was put in this lecture spot as a gift to some booster or donor. I am so disappointed in COBE for wasting my tuition dollars on this guy.
Is he the worst, maybe for business. Class was a total waste of time and energy. All of us talked about how to make this class better but most said replace instructor with someone who has owned a business before.
It's an intro class. Be prepared to be bored by lecture and substance. Bring lots of coffee as Professor Ritzman does a 0/10 job teaching but a great job reading off slides for all of us to review. It's true he never owned a business. Don't expect much. Easy A if you read and understand textbook.
I was hoping for more real Idaho business material to be brought in. Textbook is essential, but delivery of content to understand was done poorly by Prof Ritzman. He applies nothing to the lectures and it's exam heavy. I had better experiences with other Profs and would never take Professor Ritzman again.
A new year, new opportunities for Ritzman hopefully. I'd rate him second tier at best Broncs. Seems nice but when it comes to teaching, his talent never showed up in lectures. Worse class my entire semester and I'd look to drop the class or avoid as best as possible. He part of reason why I went in transfer portal. Bad biz.
