He's so easy it's not funny. He's a very good teacher but if you are even halfway intelligent you will get bored quickly. He goes over things again and again to make sure everyone understands which is good if you're slow but bad if you have a brain cell. Looking for an easy A take him. he curves and gives practice exams. He's really nice too.

Dr. Ryba is a Cambridge PhD with great command of the material. The first midterm was very easy, the second a bit harder, and some of the final was rather challenging. Homeworks are very useful. The course is an introduction to writing algorithms and the basics of C++, and it lays a very good foundation for future comp sci classes.

His class is not hard. Many students like him because he gives easy A's but end up struggling in the next courses. Those students then fail and retake a course full of the students he passed which in turn ends up filling the class with these people. Its an endless cycle. Doesn't like cheaters. These cheaters want to be Comp science students, funny.

Ryba is great. He teaches really well actually, but CS is such a hard subject that you can't blame him if it seems too tricky at first. His curves are a godsend, you can literally get a 10/40 on all the tests (including the final) and still pass the class with a C. Don't rely on just the prof, study hard outside of class for any CS class.

Good professor as he touches on every topic very concisely. But only 3 exams which are two midterms 20% each and a final 40%. He is willing to work with you in the event that you missed a midterm, he will replace that grade with your final grade. Also if you do better on final than either midterm, he replaces the lower midterm grade with the final.

He isn't as good as previous reviews state. He is too lazy to go after cheaters which according to him made up over half of the class. That made the curve smaller cause cheaters would score higher. Lectures are the most basic uses of the c++ language while tests are much more complex. Offers no help when asked as he says your lab professor should.
