single greatest teacher i have ever had! just show up on time, and to each class and do the reading. if you ask questions about what you are unsure about, you will be golden.

Alex is a great teacher, he's really passionate of the material he teaches. He's willing to help and answer any questions in class or office hours. His class comes with 4 essays, 3 exams and several quizzes- all comes from the book and notes. I really enjoyed his class even if I did slack off a little.. I would totally recommend taking him!!

He was a really nice teacher, pretty easy. You will have a few quizzes, 2 midterms and a final. He also makes you write 4 300-500 word research papers; he's not a very hard grader. Personally, I would doze off sometimes, but most of the subject matter is really interesting and he involves the class into the discussion.

Professor Schwarts is a great teacher. Easy grading, and his powerpoint slides are entertaining. He does a great job of reiterating the fundermentals of evolution, which helps understanding the principals of psychology.

Great teacher! He explains everything thoroughly, and stops whenever students have questions. He tests ONLY on what he covers, but reading is necessary. Obvious love for what he does, which makes you want to learn. Extremely helpful, never minds when students ask for help.

My only issue was with the 2 tests. Quizzes & papers were straight forward. I found the tests to be more in-depth than what he covered. Study hard for the tests.

He is so energetic and fun even at 9:30am! He makes great overhead slides and reccommends cool youtube videos. I found the first research paper kind of tricky, but got 5/5 anyways. Tests are hard if you don't study and go to class. However, he's very cool and makes it interesting. Also, he loves participation and learns everyone's names!

Does not give study guides but keeps class fun and entertaining. Its a good idea to take notes off of what he is saying and he has all lectures online but does not make sense unless you attend class.

I've taken two classes with this professor and have had a great experience with both. He is such a knowledgeable person, and is really interested in students achievement.His classes are pretty difficult because you cannot just memorize, but learn concepts in order to do well on tests and analytical papers. I love him. He's a great professor, very engaging and loves to talk to students. For environmental psych, however, the class was somewhat less directional and many students would bring up their ideas in open discussion, so it was hard to sort what was valuable and what was some student's mislead or misunderstood concept. BEST CLASS EVER. posts his lectures online,offers extra credit you cant really fail his class, that however doesn't mean that it is a guaranteed A, you still have to attend class and study. The book is hard to understand but not that important. Yes he is also super hot.

This is by no means an easy class, especially if you take a short semester version, however Professor Schwartz is by far the best teacher I've encountered in the subject of psychology. He is engaging, open minded, and fair. Participation is key. If you pay attention, and do the homework, you will do well.

The Alex is a great teacher. I've taken 3 psych classes and was not able to pass. Schwartz is NOT easy, but his material and enthusiasm for the topics make you want to learn. One of my all time favorite teachers. The class had 3 tests and a research paper.

I took his child psychology class in the winter 2013 session. I was thoroughly impressed with his ability to convey complex concepts in child psychology with clarity, precision, and with boundless enthusiasm and passion. He provided me an excellent educational experience, and for that, I am grateful. I strongly recommend taking any of his classes.

Seriously the best professor I've had by far. Class is based off of power point slides. Professor Schwartz also assigns additional activities (videos, documentaries, TEDtalks, radiolabs, FUN!) based on the day's lecture. Assigns pages/chapters off of the book, which you need to read. 2 research papers, no quizzes. Won't regret taking this class!!!

i have taken two classes with Dr Schwartz, psych 1 and psych 11. He is one of the best psych professor at SMC. He is very nice and helpful, just pay attention, review the powerpoint slides, and listen/watch to all the radiolabs and documentaries he assigns before every test and you will get an A. he really made me love psychology.

He is the nicest prof I've ever had. He doesn't reply Email though. For me, the first exam was the hardest. After that, it became easier. Attendance is very important and you are required to do a lot of work. If you really want to study, take his class. It's worth learning from him.

PROF Schwartz was a very entertaining prof. He was fun interesting and actually stayed on topic during his lectures. moderately easy class if you do all your at home reading and homework.(must do H.W and reading to pass). He makes it easy to ask questions and encourage you to come to office hours. By far the best professor I had at SMC.

There are three tests, all multiple choice and one research paper. It was a pretty easy class, but participation is worth a lot, 30% of your grade, so make sure you attend every class and ask occasional questions throughout the semester.

Schwartz is a good professor, very active in campus life. Studying, completing assignments, and attending class lead to a good grade. knows a lot about the subject he teaches. standard introductory psychology class taught at a lot of colleges so not a lot of opportunity to get creative with the syllabus. Spring 2014 - His lectures are really good. Nice guy. You'll be extremely confused as to what to study for your first midterm due to the fact that he's pretty disorganized. However, due to all the studying you've been doing to prepare yourself, you'll find that his tests are ridiculously easy. Easy class, but you'll still learn a lot.

There are two professors that have made me seriously consider switching majors (in a good way). He is one of them. I took Environmental Psych and I found his lectures very engaging and thought-provoking. He walks the talk, in a big way. Profoundly changed the way I view human behavior. My only complaint is that I wish he responded to emails.

If you're an auditory learner then awesome because he gets talks the whole time. He puts up power points but with barely anything on them. Class is mandatory as well as participation. You have to do the homework to do well on quizzes. Final is optional but would strongly recommend taking it. Overall, I liked the topic a lot and Alex is cool!

Schwartz is a weird guy, super cool though. Participation matters, I don't remember how he was on attendance but I do remember wanting to go to class. It was always interesting, but be sure to read the book. A great read and many references. Also, there's a paper at the end don't be intimidated and ask for help. He's good for it!

He has been my favorite professor at SMC. His online lectures are not mandatory but you do gain a lot from attending. He cares about all his students and has lots of opportunities for office hours via zoom. His quizzes may be challenging at times but it is okay because he offers extra credit and he cares more about growth than a letter grade.

This is my second time taking Professor Schwartz. I wish he taught other subjects as he cares more about what you take home then how to test you on it. His lectures are INSPIRATIONAL, most of the time we are in deep talks in class, he does not overwhelm you with busy work and homework is usually videos or articles. One of the best.

In my opinion, he is a pretty great professor. His test and quizzes are very easy and you can easily get an A on them, as well as for the assignments you can get a full score. His lectures might be a bit disorganized but you can still learn things easily. He does want students participatings but its your choice if you want to or not.

He is a really great professor so if you have the chance definitely take him! His lectures are good, He's makes pop culture references and he's just a really funny and chill professor. Not a hard class just don't fall behind, I slacked off in the middle of the semester and didn't get the best grade. He is always open to helping his students out.

Professor Schwartz makes lectures fun, but his teaching style requires active participation. While engaging, the class can be easy to neglect. Unstuck ai and the free textbook helped me stay on top of the work and earn an A.

Amazing professor, wish his lectures were longer I could have these discussions he leads for hours and not be bored. So much good info.

He is brilliant while remaining surprisingly humble. Great sense of humor!

Alex is a very chill professor. His live lectures are great and he has them all pre-recorded as well so you can watch them before class to prep or after to refresh and study. Class is engaging and fun. He is respectful and interesting. He is very passionate about the material and makes is come alive. I would definitely take him again.

He is brilliant yet humble and open to others ideas and opinions. He is empathetic and understanding. He's had over 6000 students yet has a way of making every single one feel special.

Dr. Schwartz is a very upbeat teacher, and you can tell he really likes teaching which is always nice. This class relied heavily on class participation, but I never felt put on the spot or embarrassed which was nice. His classes are mostly interactive lectures, which are genuinely interesting and did give me a new perspective on many things.

Professor Schwartz Lectures were very concise and comedic all while going into depth on some subjects. I loved this guy for the way hes able to teach while being entertaining. He never goes too far from the main subject. His assignments are easy and you only really need the bare bones discipline/responsibility to complete his work. Please take him!

Great professor. Had two zooms a week and one assignment a week. As long as you pay attention in the class and do your work you will be fine. Chill grader and made the class engaging and kept it interesting.

Professor Alex & his psych40 class are incredible. He prioritizes your learning over unnecessary work, provides new perspectives, & teaches important topics in a super engaging and hilarious way. Participation & attendance matter; assignments/quizzes are based off lecture slides! Looked forward to every class tho, so not problem. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Teacher Schwartz is honestly the most passionate professor I have met. It's clear to me how much he loves his job, and his classes are so much fun to be in. Everyone participates and he knows how to make a class more interactive. Homework isn't too heavy and when done correctly is is very easy. 10/10, would take again.

Best teacher I have had yet, clearly very passionate about his work and teaching his students. The homework and tests are very easy if you watch all the lectures and do the readings.

Mr. Schwartz is super engaging and cares about his material and his students. His class is discussion-based. Be ready to participate and make sure to check the canvas module for assignments and readings. he doesn't announce assignments in class. Workload isn't too heavy. Highly recommend if you actually want to learn and engage in discussion.

I took his class for the Fall semester, online. To be honest, the class was very engaging and I really like how he has lectures before the class starts to know what that day will be about. Even interesting podcasts and lectures every week. He does deep breathing before class starts and that really helps! Class goes by really fast!

I took his class online and to be honest I really like how he has recorded lectures on Canva, teaching the same thing that day will be talking about. Participation does matter, even if microphone is on when he calls on you. Each week he gives a mini assignment that is easy to complete. Reccomend taking his class for psychology 1.

His online lectures are amazing I learned things I never would've expected to learn in a psychology class. Really made me learn things without having to memorize psych terms and founder names. If you do good in online classes, take him.

It was enjoyable to watch the lectures and honestly an easy A! Do not fall behind or submit anything LATE! He does peer reviews which is mandatory to do on time! Had an A the whole time until participation dropped it to a B. Beware, he changes text to white to catch anyone who uses AI in small writing assignments. He does report!
