Very good teacher. I really enjoyed her class. She is very clear as to what she wants in an essay. Shes funny and keeps the class intreasting. I really recommend taking her. She might intimidate with work at the beginning of the semester but once the semester goes by it is not that bad. For sure you will pass her class if you do the work.

She is a very good professor, and she gives the assignments fairly. She often makes the class is interesting, and tells us that the class is us. I took her class in winter, she gave a lot of practice in class in order to improve our writing and reading. If you want to learn English, I recommend to take her class. She is very perfect.

a teacher that is funny interesting and blunt she might seem strange at first but then you get the feel of the class and the type of teacher she is super cool and will make you learn super cool

Mrs. Solis is a good professor. She is funny and interesting of what she wants on an essays. also, she is a helpful person and gives assignment fairly, but she may be a hard grader. If you want to learn about stories and be critical thinker, take her class.

She's very helpful, she teaches you how to critically read and think. How to write a proper essay. After taking her class, I felt so relaxed in 65 and passed. She's one of those teachers that actually care about how you write.

OMG - she rocks! Best Egnlish class I ever took. She made us laugh but I was ready for UCLA when we were done. Yes, she is a really tough grader though!

I think I know who this is because you stormed out of our last class because you didn't get the discussion since you didn't read. I agree she makes fun of everything. That is so we don't take it too serious. And you know what? If you go to college and don't bother to do the work, you SHOULD be embarrassed.

She's a great teacher, very clear and very helpful when you ask for it. She can be very intimidating, and it may seem that she picks on you, which she does in order for you to stand up and defend yourself and your opinion. Very funny too, she makes the class seem less serious in order for you to get your ideas out in a comfortable setting.

Alex is a hard teach. But I learned a lot and I am flying through 103, cuz I know exactly what to do. But Alex is also a really nice prof. She really cares about students and will be there if you need her. And the readings are as interesting as you can expect from school.

She is one of those hard teachers that u love to hate. jk she is totally great. She is a bit intimidating at first, but once she gets comfortable with the class she is really cool. You do have to work, but i totally found it worthwhile having her as a teacher.

Don't let the tough front fool you. This teacher will do anything to help you succeed. Office hours don't matter; just find Alex and she will spend time with you. If you need a revision, ask for it. If you need extension, explain why and document it. If you need to blow off steam, go for it. All she wants is for everyone to try & do the work.

I would definitley recommend Alexis. She is awesome, in a word. Completley relatable, down to earth, and straightforward. I'm done with my english, but continue to scan the schedule to take a class with her. After taking her class, you will have a different viewpoint for whatever you've studied in the class. She's not easy, but she's great.

She is the most awesome teacher I have ever had for English. She makes the class so much fun.But one thing turn off your phone or you will have to dance if it rings..HaHa!

Alex is awesome. She keeps it real and will call you out if you don't do your work. She is very helpful if you need it. Just do the reading as a class and you won't have in class writings and hw. She is super funny!

Great teacher.She prepares you to write great papers for when you transfer to university its like a breeze but you have to contribute your part or she will put you on the spot(ask you most of the questions).Your part is to do your reading before going in to class,good attendance & participate, voice what you think about the reading. She likes that.

her grading isn't that tough, but it's not going to be easy if you don't have decent writing skills. not a lot of homework given.Discussions are really interesting, it even got me to participate, which i never did in high school english classes. Readings are about sports, but it's interesting and i don't even like sports.

Currently taking the class. She's chosen to use graphic novels for her 103 to address the typical topics of an English class. The critical thinking is hard work, but working with the essay prompts is pretty fun. Texts used: Batman, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Kingdom Come. Highly recommended if you're bored of anthologies.

Solis is an awesome teacher. She's tough, but she knows what she wants from her students. The class is great because students actually learn a lot. The class is difficult but well worth the time. She is hilarious and is relatable. For English 103 we used comics for our essays! Loved it!

She is a really good teacher and very helpful. She would always give you feedback on what you would need to work on. If you intend to improve in your English skills instead of just looking for an easy passing grade, Solis would be the best teacher for you. If you do your work, you will be fine.

at first I thought she was mean and scary as the semester went by she is awesome she knows her stuff yes she acts means but really she prepares you. she is very quirky and funny and enjoys sports so she makes learning interesting. her grading isnt that bad and does extends deadlines if the class cooperates overall best of the nest of english prof.

She always kept the class interesting. She made sure everyone understood the cotent and used her judgement if the class was ready to move on. All you had to was read the material and do an essay on it. Pretty easy class yet you do actually learn.

This is one ELAC's best teachers. She is not but she is a great and funny instructor. She will prepare to be a good writer. I loved going to her class, the discussions were always intense.

Her class is fairly easy. She made me improve my writing skills. I began with getting C-'s on the essays & ended up with B's. She is very funny. Took her class winter session & passes with a B+ :)

She is very professional and helpful English professor, and She knows her stuff and what she is doing. She is awesome that she really prepares her students. Class is kinda hard, but just do what she says you will be fine. Plus her class is very interesting and extremely helpful! More importantly, she is very fair with every students. :D

for those people looking for an easy A do no work kind of class.. here is a news flash this isn't the professor for you. teacher overall is AMAZING! she is straight up & will help you any way she can & picks great books for you to read. if taking her for English 21 she will set you up on the right path & READING IS REQUIRED!

She is one of the best English teachers I have ever had!I struggle with writing and she helped me gain confidence.She makes sure the class understands the material before moving on, She will go out her way to help you!She seems intimidating at first,but in the end you'll be glad you stayed in her class!She's awesome! If you don't do the work or walk in late she will put you on blast. She's a great professor! One of the BEST. I am very happy I attended her class. Interesting topics and a passionate teacher.

Best English Instructor I've had up to date. She does have explicit humor & no topics are off tables with her. She is very outspoken, so sensitive/boring ppl would most likely not enjoy her class. Her lectures are always FUN if you participate in the discussions. You WILL learn in her class & best of all she is flexible with her students.

Ms.Solis is an amazing instructor. Very funny and also very straight forward. Students may say she has a bad attitude, but honestly those students are the ones wasting their own time while dragging everyone else down 4 essays, midterm, and final. Essays are based on Stephen King novels. We are all adults here. Take the course seriously and pass. :)

Alex Solis is an amazing instructor. She is willing to help her students whenever they feel confused or need guidance when it comes to their essays. Yeah, with out a doubt she is itimidating, but you get used to it. You will not regret taking her class, she is so funny and her class discussions are always interesting.

Took her ENG 101, but dropped. Honestly, she is funny and helpful. You will learn a lot, but a hard grader. I got a B on my first essay, so I dropped because I want a A :(. But I really enjoyed her class.

Extremely helpful and straight forward with what she wants. Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass and buy the books she requires; reading is a must in her class. Nonetheless, very fortunate to have had her.

I took her for English 21 and 28, I want to take her for all my English classes. The stories that she makes us read are pretty interesting. She's tough but you get to really learn.

Really interesting. Alex gives lots of reading, and if you don't come or show up late or unprepared there's no way you pass. But if you do the work and need help, she'll help you in her office hours without making you feel bad. Classes are super funny unless people slack off because then there's more writing. Otherwise it's like hanging out.

Professo Solis is very intelligent and funny. Although she does not mind putting you on the spot if you're late or something. I wasn't able to pass the class because I couldn't afford to purchase my book but she made it possible. Awesome teacher!

Profesor Solis is such a great teacher. She gives a lot of reading but her books and short stories are always very interesting . she makes her class very fun you will never get bored. Although she gets off topic a lot she still makes the class understandable. she lets also get into groups to do the work.

Solis is a great but hard professor. She's really helpful on making you think critically. Everything you do in class is relevant to helping you to be a better writer. if you slack you won't pass. She'll even make an essay assignment a rough draft for the next project. Overall, very helpful professor despite her explicit humor. Buy all the books.

I took professor Solis for English 250 and it was definitely challenging, but the readings were very interesting and she made the lectures fun and easy to understand. She is very honest and straightforward. I would recommend taking her if you're up for a challenge.

I learned alot from this professor. My critical thinking skills have developed and prepared me for eng 102. I put in the work and made sure to do my everyday readings for this class and i got an A. I am not an english major so that should say alot. She's a tough grader, but at this level everyone should be taking their classes seriously.

Solis class was very hard, she is probably one of the most helpful instructors at elac. Despite her feedback and helpfulness her grading criteria was very high. I dont think haalf the class passed. Take her if your a english major.

Professor Solis is a no bs professor. This course was pretty tough but in all honesty she made me a better writer. She gives great feed back and is really willing to help if you need her help. She responds to emails pretty quickly which is nice. You will be required to read a lot. I really enjoyed the class

in fall we went through dr. seuss and it was enjoyable, helped me become a better writer and a critical thinker.

Professor Solis is a great professor. she is a tough grader but really cares about her students. if you really try and don't give up she won't give up on you either. not an easy A you really have to work for your grade. if you want to learn shes the professor for you.

What can I say, she gave me an A. I was really surprised, not because I wouldn't do my job, but because I was late a couple of times and she gave me this whole life lesson. She likes to joke around and and tbh most of the times her jokes were lame. I would just laugh cuz I was already on her bad list Lol. She is cool just don't be late.!!!!

Solis helped improve my writing and critical thinking skills so much, I could never ever repay her. You have to work very hard, but I promise you it will be worth it. Good Professor. Very straight forward, get the work done and you will do ok in her class. Class participation is a must. Must do the readings to understand what is happening in the class. Be ready to think outside the box use your critical thinking skills. I would take her again.

Professor Solis is a very passionate teacher when it comes to english. Her class is a little tough so if you are trying to get that easy A, do not take her. She will help you think more critically and she does a lot of group work. she is intimidating at first but as the semester goes on she starts to soften up.

Solis is such a great professor! She actually makes you think critically, she won't give you a grade she doesn't think you deserve. So if you want an A or B you actually have to work for it. She's tough and straight out but isn't disrespectful she just wants you to do your work. She means well and wishes the best for her students.

Good profressor, talks about interesting current events and the readings are good, different than other teachers. Only thing is that she doesn't give much feed back and doesn't take the time explain your weakness and what to work on to make papers stronger. I don't think I would take again unless she was the only teacher available and adding.

Her way of teaching is much different from others since she does not use the typical english texts. Instead, she spices things up with some comic books, Dr. Seuss, the walking dead, etc. It is definitely not an easy class, but she makes her students think effectively. If the students do their job well, she is a great professor to work with.

Her lectures are amazing! The way she analyses the material is incredible. Reading and annotating is a must! She teaches students key factors in analyzing information by providing different points of views on the subjects being discussed, while also knowing how to recognize the hidden meanings behind the material being read. She is amazing! 10-10!

She's a true gem! Yes, there was a lot of reading, but then again, IT IS an english class. Just do the readings and participate. She makes lectures insightful. I felt frustrated in the beginning, but once I stopped complaining about the work mentally, I realized what a great professor she is. I highly recommend her!!

I recently transferred from Elac, I took Prof. Solis back in Spring 2020 and I wish I can go back! Her lectures and in class discussion are fascinating, she makes you think and question a lot about reading and life in general. Although her course isnt an easy A, you will get so much from her class. I recommend everyone I know to take her.

Do the work, u will get a good grade. It's that simple. Prepare to read. You will learn a lot from her! Her lectures are interesting & well-focused. She really knows how to get you to use critical thinking. Workload is normal. You have so much opp. to succeed. She is amazing and I hope I can take a class w/ her again. By far highly recommended.

This teacher definitely deserves more than a pat on the back. Im not a teachers pest or anything of that sort but lets just say when you put in the work authentically and always reassure who you are, everything is possible. Professor Solis works miracles and is very passionate about what she teaches. Dont take this class for granted and learn!!

Professor Alex Solis, is a well respected passionated individual when it comes to all things literature. Their English course was one of the most difficult courses I have ever taken personally, however very rewarding nonetheless. The instructor adds considerable quality to their lectures. I have grown so much as a writer, reader, and philosopher.

I'm a returning student its been a while since I've wrote anything. Took the class Fall 2022. This class is not impossible its fair and the professor moves mountains to give you chance to improve your writing. Grading is very clear, and once you get the format down for MLA its just critical thinking which even that the professor helps you hone in.
