Very easy A. Don't bother doing the reading. Just go to the lectures. He gives study guides & test questions are pulled directly from them. He won't answer questions on the guides though, which is weird. Usually nice, but there's been a few times where he picks on people in a mean way during class.

He knows his stuff, wants students to do well. Had a hard time understanding him sometimes but he clarified when asked. Overall great class great teacher. Straightforward grading.

If you want to get an easy A, take his class. You don't have to read through the text book to get a good grade, just need to focus his study guide because 90% of his tests is from there. He's really trying to build up a good relationship with his students although his English is hard to understand. Anyway, his class is easy.

I took this class in summer school. It was an easy summer class. You don't have to read just skim over the pages and attend class and you will do fine. He gives a study guide before every exam so you know what is going to be on each exam, no surprises there. Overall a good class.

Alex is a great instructor. He's very flexible and understanding. works great with students; provides office hours so students may see him. the previous raters are just bias because he has a slight accent.

He is VERY easy if you STUDY, ALWAYS present, and do the note taking. All the students that say he's not good and always wanted to be understood are slackers.

Very good instructor. He gives you a study guide before each quiz, and the questions are exactly the same on the real one. Tests are a cumulation of all the quizzes. His accent isn't thick like the other reviews said. Overall, good teacher who isn't mean but does expect you to do your work and try. Highly recommend if you are serious about school.

Interesting class which consists of lectures and videos. We have writing assignments which are a little hard to get 80/80. Have quizzes on every 2 ch. which aren't that hard if you do the study guide. Same thing for the exams. Professor Xiao is a nice guy even though he may be a little strict on the assignments. As long as u work hard you can pass.

If you attend the lectures, read the assigned materials and memorize the study guides, you'll do well in Xiao's class, even if you don't do so well on the written homework essay assignments.

Great professor. He has sort of an accent but it doesn't take much getting used to and is for the most part understandable. Study guides are for tests and are exactly the same as the test, so as long as you do the study guide, you'll know the answers to the test. Professor Xiao is actually a very good instructor. He answers any questions the students have and has no problem clarifying confusions. His quizzes and tests are based of study guides he gives. He takes questions straight from the study guide and puts together the quiz or test like that.

he gives great study guides though getting the terms correctly the way he wants is kind of hard. but i enjoyed the class very much.

For everybody crying about Prof Xiao assigning too much homework, grow up. This is college, and you shouldn't be here if you can't handle it. With that said, Xiao is an excellent instructor, who does all he can to help the student. His study guides literally have the same questions as will be on the tests, so it's virtually impossible to do poorly.

This professor is really easy. Show up for mandatory lectures or lose five points for each absence. He gives all questions to the quiz and test a week in advance. 4 major 100 point papers. Requires some work, but if you do it then its easy to get an A

I took his online class & as online classes go this was a piece of cake. 4 short essays, weekly discussion boards posts, & quizes with the exact ?'s as the quiz.. I wish every class was like this one! I honestly never dealt with him bcuz the class was so straightforward. I'd take his online class again in a heartbeat!

Best professor ever. I took this class last summer and had NO interest in anything politics whatsoever. I learned so much about politics and now I'm interested in it. He lectures on things very relevant to the quiz and tests. Study guides ARE the quiz and exams. Do study guide means get an A. Study guide are based on the reading. Good luck!

I just finished his online poly sci class. He was a great professor!! I would strongly recommend this class. I learned so much! I enjoyed the weekly discussions (some online classes have lame discussions) and as long as you write your essays with a lot of, "I feel" and "I believe" you get an A no problem. Take him!!

He a good professor. He does power slide and going over with them which make it easier. But he has an accent. Give ur time and u'll soon get use to him, + his class is easy if u take note down. Quizzes n Test are easy, he'll give out ahead of time for u to study. Also try to remember the short essay ID then u'll do fine.

even though his accent is a little difficult to understand he is a very good teacher i don't quite get how he grades the tests/quizzes but you get study guides with the exact same question and the review sessions for the test you can ask him any questions on the test so passing his class should be easy, hes not that bad. hes better than most.

He is a great teacher - very passionate and excited about POLS. He's really funny if you pay attention. He talks really fast - tell him to slow down and he will. Super quick to answer emails. Gives study guides for all quizzes/tests. Identical questions - study these and it's impossible to fail. Offers some extra credit.

Great professor and generally an easy class. First essay wasn't as easy; he expects a lot however I still got a great grade. Lots of work, but it is simple work. Try not to miss anything because there is a small window to get an A if he decides not to hand out extra credit. I recommend him!

I like how this class had a weekly format. You cover one chapter every week. You get two discussion questions a week, and one quiz. Pretty simple. You need the book for the quizzes because the answers are word for word out of the book. Only one term paper worth 400 points. It's an Easy A unless you are lazy and lack discipline to stay up to date.

The tests all had study guides which came directly from the reading, and were fairly easy. Make sure to do both topic postings for the week and reply to one other students topic for both of the weeks topics. Pretty easy class, some effort is needed, but if you have to take this course to finish J.C. I would say to take this course.

Professor Xiao is an excellent teacher. He is very clear in his expectations and updates students constantly of changes to the syllabus and upcoming deadlines via D2L. He challenges students in a constructive way, which I appreciated. Do the reading, fill out the study guides, and you will do well.

Attendance is mandatory, but the class is really easy overall. He's a good professor, although it's sometimes hard to understand him. The whole class is laid out for you and the study guides are basically the same as the tests, you just need to do them.

You can get an A if you put in the work. Two discussion posts a week, One quiz per week and one term paper. The quiz answers are straight from the book so you MUST have the book. The term paper is pretty hard but if you put in work you can get a good grade.

He teaches ideology in a good manner. You must read the book and use the study guide. I recorded the lectures, which were a BIG help . For the writing part of the quizzes write as much as you can as less equals low grade. The rest if T or F. Rote memorization. It's an easy class. I noted too many argued with him over petty 5 pts. Took the summer 6 weeks class: 15 quizzes, all based from the book and he gives you study guides (you'll pass them if you do them). A couple in-class writing assignments with clear questions (if you paid attention in class) that you shouldn't miss or you won't be allowed to pass the class. He takes attendance very seriously so make sure to go.

Hard to understand, but he GIVES YOU TESTS BEFORE HAND. So easy to get an A, if you take the time to look for answers in the textbook (it is time consuming). You must buy the textbook if you want to pass. He pays attention to students who participate. Only one 1200 word essay. If you really care about learning a lot in this class, don't take it.

I liked this class. It was simple and I feel like I actually learned quite a bit from it. I thought politics was pretty boring but after taking this class I'm much more interested and informed now. This was the online class so it was discussion boards, quizzes, one term paper, and no final. I recommend!

The class I took from him was extremely strait forward. Don't expect him to get you excited about the subject. Don't forget to do some studding if you want an A on an exam. For me Alex was a king of predictability; with a hectic life, I couldn't recommend him more.

I took his class from 4-5:20, but we would be let out before 5, sometimes at 4:30. Lectures are never long. The "study guides" for the quizzes and tests are actually what's going to be on it. Super easy. Easy A. One those chill classes you don't have to worry about.

Took the online class for pols320. It was easy as long as you read what was assigned and did your weekly questions and quiz. There is only one essay toward the end of the semester and it was rather easy. I would recommend to take this online class if you're busy with work/life.

The class wasn't that hard at all. As long as you follow the rules of the discussion boards and try your best you will be fine. Everything is pretty straight forward. the study guides are your best friends to do going good on quizzes. I got a B on the term paper and did the extra credit and got back up to a A easy.

straight up a genuinely great guy. literally I would study for 45 minutes before class and I got A's on all of the tests. Just don't be afraid to ask him what he exactly wants to see on the short answer test questions. he will tell you exactly what to write to get an A on every test.

I had Professor Xiao during during the start of the pandemic so, 1/2 classroom 1/2 online. He is a great teacher who encourages students to do well but expects his students to be responsible and prepared. He speaks quickly with a slight accent but he's friendly and doesn't mind questions for clarification. Stays apolitical which is refreshing

Took his online class very easy, you need the book. 2 weekly discussion post as well as 2 weekly quizzes, one term paper, and an extra credit paper is all the work he gives. Just do your homework you will get an A. The structure kind of sucks as well as the term paper is not given good guidelines but you will get an A besides that if work is done.

He is very understanding. There is a decent amount of coursework, and when he gives prompts for papers and discussions, he is very clear about his expectations. He is also very kind, you just need to communicate with him. The material is simple. Stay on top of your assignments and ask him questions if needed, and you should do fine.

He is a great professor. The textbook is very wordy and excessive, but all in all, not too bad. If you have any issues, just communicate with him. He was very accommodating, and the workload was decent, seeing as summer classes are accelerated. He offered one extra credit opportunity, and no late work, so just make sure you turn things in on time.

Genuinely one of my favorite professors I've ever had. He's strict on some things; late work (exception being the term paper) is not accepted and attendance is important.
