Alex was a really great teacher, nice guy. If you're looking to get a good grade, as long as you do your homework, you'll do really well. He was always readily available to help with my questions and did his best to make sure we all understood the material. I'd take another course from him any day!
Alex is a nice guy but he wasn't the best at explaining concepts. He explained things in a really drawn out way that made them seem more complicated than they should have been. However, he grades fairly easily on tests and as long as you do the homework you have a chance of getting a good grade.
Alex is a great instructor. He makes things easy to understand and when it's not, he clarifies with no problem.
He was a good teacher overall, the lectures were a little hard to get through but they're worth going to. I missed a few and I regretted it when the test came around.
He was a good teacher, he related to being a student and did not give us a hard work load. I wish he would have done more examples but otherwise he was a great teacher.
Great teacher, easy going, fun class
Mr. Sidles was a great teacher! I learned a lot and he was clear and very helpful. I would recommend this teacher to other students. Had a good style to teaching and he was very nice and understanding. He felt like a real teacher. GREAT GUY
He was a great guy with good personality and that matters. Classes were a little slow but overall material was easy. I recommend the class
Alex is a really good teacher, he may have troubles explaining; however, he very generous and lenient on his grading which makes him a very good teacher! Easy A
Teaches math really well, I was rarely confused!
Alex is a great teacher. Can get kind of confusing when explaining things, but if you're willing to ask questions he can definitely explain it better for you. Very good with grading tests.
Alex is the man, he's super nice to all his students and can relate to us, and is a very easy going dude
Alex responded to me very quick and is an overall super chill guy
He always helped me when i needed it
Alex is a really great teacher. He explains everything in detail, which may make the lectures seem long, but in the end it helps a lot. He was always willing to help if I ever had any questions and the assignments were never too difficult.
I have never liked math, but Alex taught it in a way that was easy for me to understand to the point that I never had to study for one of his tests. Make sure you do go to class as much as possible though, because it helps so much with assignments and tests.
He was a great teacher but you have to put in the work to get the grade you want. Very friendly and easy to talk and is on the same page as his students. He is always there for help and will schedule review sessions when you need them, which help to clarify what you dont understand for the tests and homework. Homework due every few days. Good class
Great teacher and works with schedules and conficts that come up
Alex was a great teacher and always willing to help and make students understand the math.
You can really tell Alex loves teaching and he wants to help everyone understand. Sometimes his explanations get a little drawn out but he's sure to make sure you understand the concepts.
Great teacher, would have him again.
Alex is amazing at what he does. He is always there for students and wants to make sure that you understand the material.
He can be kind of confusing when it comes to harder topics but overall a great guy.
Alex is a great teacher who is always wanting to find ways that he can improve in his teaching to better his students. If you get him you are in good hands!
super cool guy, might need work on clarity, because he can sometimes go on and explain things but as he keeps explaining it more, he tends to confuse some people, other than that he's really funny and cool
funny awkward guy that likes to have fun with math, super cool and will help anyone in need if you don't understand anything
awsome dude, and easy class
Alex is a good guy! He was a bit over explanatory which made things more confusing than they should've been. Overall he is a good teacher and makes it easy to earn an A
Lecture was pretty dry but other than that it's a good class to take. He's pretty cool and makes sure we are understanding what he is teaching. Not many tests at all and don't buy the book
He is very understanding and is willing to do almost anything to help you as long as you try and contact him about it. He wants you to get a good grade but will not just give it to you.
I enjoyed taking college algebra with him
Good overall
Good teacher, always able to ask questions. Very helpful.
Wonderful professor. Made math understandable
Not the most interesting subject but the he tries to make it interesting.
Loved it! Great class
Very good teacher. Keeps the grading consistent and gives partial credit for work shown. Posts suggested problems from the book to practice before each exam, I found these problems extremely helpful. Would take another class from him.
Awesome class! WOuld definalty do it again. Do your online hw though
Easy A class WOuld take again
Really good professor
Good Guy
Amazing teacher must take class from him
i really enjoyed having him as a teacher, he made this math class easier than my high school algebra so i enjoyed it more.
you learn alot from class and its easy
dont take any other class except his learn so much
I really liked that math lab, it made homework easy and gave a better understanding when it came to test time
learn so much
i liked how we review for tests with kahoot
I like how many extra credit opportunities he gives
really good on answering questions and giving feedback when asked
Not great at teaching, but good one on one.
i really enjoyed having him as a teacher made learning the subject, which is difficult a difficult subject for me, easy to learn
Don't have to show up for every class, but it will help a lot if you don't miss too many. Always attend review days to earn extra credit towards final grade, and overall he's a cool teacher that helped me understand algebra way better than my high school teachers!
Mr. Sidles was an amazing teacher. Always willing to help. Homework is mandatory and online but you're given a week to complete it. I would recommend not buying the textbook. I never used it, but you do need to purchase mymathlab account. It comes with textbook but is cheaper to buy wo book.
Sidles is awesome! Made dreaded math fun!
For the first time I understood what was being taught in a math class and felt prepared for each test. Attendance is not mandatory and although he offers credit for showing up to review days I would highly suggest attending. He is very willing to help and easy to understand--very clear!
He was an amazing teacher all around.
I took this class already having the skills to succeed, (tested into a higher level math class but the credits didn't transfer). It was very simple. In class he goes over the powerpoint notes EXACTLY. If you have the ability to teach yourself the material, do the homework, and put in the effort, you will get an A. Great guy and very willing to help
he is pretty good teacher, you don't need to go class only on review days for test you get extra credit. He is pretty easy grader for test, make sure do that homework it is pretty easy a big part of your is homework. Overall it was good class.
Very good professor
He's a very approachable guy and good at explaining everything. I have already referred him to my friends.
really helped with difficult problem
Great teacher, very helpful and friendly! Very workable with grading. Enjoyed his class!
Really loved him as a professor. One of my favorites at this university. He also knows that you have other classes. So, if you put in the work you will achieve the grade.
He's a super nice guy who really cares about his students. He wants you to do well and if you ask for help he is more than willing to work with you.
Alex is willing to help you if you are struggling and he will help clarify anything you need him to. He also gives you a lot of opportunities to bring up your grade.
Professor Sidles did a good job being flexible and understanding with his students. He was a comfortable teacher to be around and a nice guy, and ensured that if the students did their homework and attended class they would do well on tests and get a good grade. It wasn't hard to do well in his class.
I really enjoyed this class except when it came to the tests I felt like I wasn't prepared enough. I think it would help if we didn't just take one day to go over material that is hard. One day for an easier chapter is fine but like logs I think more time would be better.
Took Math 165 Calculus I online with Mr. Sidles. Was a great teacher, and explained everything via email perfectly when I needed a hand. Would definitely recommend anyone to take this class.
He wants you to do well and as long as you can prove to him you know the material you will get an A
Great Prof! Taught me a lot and he was very helpful and understanding. He wants you to pass so if you try, show up to class, and prove you know your stuff you will!
Great Prof! The best Math teacher I have had at UND so far!
If you're going to take Linear Algebra, let it be with this professor. Although I think the class is worth 3 credits instead of 2, Professor Sidles was great at explaining the material and wants students to do well. There was a decent amount of homework throughout the course and three exams, but I'm very happy I took it with this Professor.
Took Calc I online with him, great professor.
One of my favorite math professors because of his non-purist approach to math. Was always available via email and provided quick clear and detailed guidance. Professor Sidles is that rare math professor who cares about how students are doing. If I could I would take him again.
Ive taken Calculus previously and honestly never new what was going on. I memorised formulas but didnt understand. This guy needs to write a textbook because just his notes was all I really needed to not just get through the course but to also UNDERSTAND what I was doing and why it worked. Super responsive. Very giving of time for an online prof.
I took him for both Calculus 1 and 2. I got A's in both of the classes. I watched all of the vidoes that he recommended and studied like crazy for the exams. Highly recommend! He was also available through email to answer whatever questions that you may have.
So far the nicest professor I've ever met! He cares for his students very much, always responds to emails, and is willing to help his students out after classes. Can't use a single word to describe my feelings, but attend his classes anyway and you definitely won't regret it! Currently, I'm taking MATH 207 and the whole class is well-organized!
Professor Sidles is very accessible outside of class. He grades assignments quickly and explains calculus in a way that makes it easy to understand. Overall, the class is not difficult; if anything, the assignments are much more difficult than the exams.
Great guy, did the self paced calc 2 with him and he was very easy to get in touch with and clear any questions I had. Will work with you through internet issues too. HW prepares you for the tests, and this class is alright if you put in the work! I'd recommend taking a class w/ him!
I found taking calc 1 online was way easier than taking it in person. He is a very lenient grader and gives you as much points as possible on tests as long as you show work. Good lectures, and book material to prepare you for homework's and tests.
Professor Sidles deserves his reputation, and you won't find a better teacher than him. Special shout out to his inclusion of relevant youtube videos in the notes which makes studying way more efficient. Test-heavy, but if you do the problem sets there are no surprises on the exams. Very approachable and down to earth guy!
This Guy. He deserves more praise than this website can give him. I've never met the guy in person- I've only communicated with him over email. Nicest professor I've ever interacted with. I asked to get my work graded quickly due to my own time-managing incompetence, and he graded all of it instantly without a word- probably with a smile. A+ rating
Asked for an exception because my transfer credit deadline was coming up and I needed work graded fast, and Professor Sidles was very accommodating. The only reason I was able to transfer to Georgia Tech was this man.
Alexander Sidles always responds to emails in about 2 to 3 days, grades work right away, and helps with any questions you ask.
Best professor to take calc II with hands down. He is genuinely a caring person as he agreed to grade the mountain of homework I submitted the night before I was required to finish the class. The exams are not difficult whatsoever. If you are looking to take an online math class TAKE IT WITH HIM! You will not regret it!
Great professor, with lots of resources. Was nervous about taking a math class without direct instruction, but he grades kindly and provides opportunities to earn homework points back. Can sometimes be hard to get in contact, with but is very respectful and kind.
I took this class as a pre-req for grad school. I was a bit nervous about the course, but it was great. The grading criteria is clear and he gives good feedback. Just do your homework and make sure you understand it, not just complete it, and you will do great in this class.
I took this course online but Sidles is a very chill professor. You have 3 exams all of which go over exactly what the lessons talked about and are honestly fairly easy. If you put in the work and do all the homework he assigns and understand it, you should get an A in this class easily. He's great and the class is structured great.
I took the online "enroll anytime" version of this course and thought it was great! Professor Sidles responds to emails promptly and with helpful advice for any questions. I also thought the class notes were some of the clearest math writing I've read and were super helpful. The exams are very reasonable and aren't too different from assigned probs
Really enjoyed it. Prof Sidles is a super nice guy, laid back, and invested in our success. All handwritten homework and exams: preps us for higher level classes where "math grammar" matters. Pace yourself format great because Calc 2 has a reputation of being the most abstract of the calcs and having that free time to let material sink in was huge
