I don't understand any of the bad reviews. Altman is very clear of his expectations of you and the labs. If you put effort in his labs and you ask questions when you don't understand, there is NO reason you shouldn't get an A. His labs are meant to be detailed and long. Stop writing 1 page and expecting a 100 and most of all ask for help if u need!

Dr. Altman is honestly such a great professor. He is so willing to help his students succeed in his course. That being said his tests are hard and you need to understand the chemistry and not only remember things. Visit his office hours and ask questions. The Aleks hw isn't really useful for studying so review the questions he does in class!!!!

Prof Altman is horrible. He seems nice and nonproblematic but never let you know what is expected for the class. Lab reports are graded hard without being specific on what to fix next. Took lab for the whole semester w/o knowing that I was failing. When I approached for questions never got a straight answer. Took same course w/ diff prof did amazin

His lectures put you to sleep, handwriting is messy, no PPT's straight old fashion lectures, and difficult to understand. Tests are hard. Chem 2 is difficult if you struggled with chem 1. He makes the material seem more difficult than it is. DID NOT LEARN, had to drop and retake with a better prof where I did well.

I'm so glad that I dropped his class. Such a tough grader. He does NOT curve. His lectures were so long and boring. His exams are very hard and nothing is on Google, he makes his own questions. He will require you to do Aleks, which is a pain in the ass. Word of advice.. If you want to pass and not mess up your gpa, do not take this professor.

Shocked at the negative reviews, Professor Altman is a Gem! Way better than the other chem professors. Lecture was long, but once a week. Tests - OPEN BOOK/INTERNET! That doesn't mean they're easy, you still need to understand the material. He responds to emails quickly and gives practice exams to work on. Only downside is ALEKS questions, too much

He is a very good professor- if you pay attention the entire time. Don't space out during lecture and you'll understand the material. Lectures can be boring. Recitation is VERY HELPFUL.

One question wrong can cost you up to 9 points. My advice, study well and finish the Alek textbook as soon as possible. USE THE PRACTICE EXAMS!

Professor Altman was alright! Read the lab manual & do the pre-lab. The class is pretty straightforward. As long as you do what you are asked, you'll be fine. He explains the lab and helps you if you need it. The lab reports can take long but you get the hang of it. Very nitpicky with grading, sometimes you don't know why you get points off.

This is an actual review: his class is alright, ALEKS needs to be done in every chem class but the main issue with this prof is his tests are brutal a couple mcq and one frq there is no partial credit, no extra credit, lectures are super dry and u can barely hear him. Just another class that cares about getting the right answer not how you think.

I would never take this professor again. Only 3 exams determine the course of your grade for the majority, the exams with less than 15 questions that are each worth up to 7-9 points, getting 3 wrong is almost 25 points off, how does that make sense? Not to mention that they are short answer, no room for error is given. DONT TAKE IF U WANT TO PASS
