Mr. Andrewsky is new & was his 2nd quarter teaching for my class. It is a lot of groupwork and a lot of papers are handed out. The group-work is just about in every chemistry class though. The only complains I have is that the topics for the exam arent too clear. He does give extra credit and lets you use 1 flashcard on exams.
His lecture is a little bit confusing but I understand all things by learning through his handout, so don't worry. His class is easy I got a 4.0 He is also a very nice and understanding professor.
He's a very nice teacher. He cares for everyone and makes sure everybody understands the material. His grading techniques are lenient. However, the way he delivers the information to the students can be pretty confusing at times.

Mr. Andrewsky is an awesome teacher. This was my 2nd time taking Chem121 and I understood the material much better than the first time. He makes learning easy, he explains everything in detail, and he just overall cares for his students and wants you to be successful. He's the best teacher I have had! Go to class, study and do the activities.
Great teacher! Always willing to help, understand and replies to emails almost immediately! really enjoyed his class, he definetly knows how to make chemistry fun!
One of my all time fav professors! take him if yo get a chance for sure!!!!!
Amazing Professor who makes lectures interesting. I really enjoyed reading Chem121. One of my fav teacher.
Mr. Andrewsky is the type of professor that really wants to see all of his students succeed, there was a lot of information to be covered in the class but he was really good about taking time to make sure everyone understood and answering questions. He was also available after class and responded to emails very quickly.
Mr. Andrewsky really is a caring, enthusiastic professor that really wants to see all of his students succeed, there was a lot of information to be covered in the class but he was really good about taking time to make sure everyone understood and answering questions. He was awesome
Very interactive and approachable professor. He understand the students best. It is his unique secure module that revises, teaches and class activities that makes this class AWESOME! I wish he would soon teach CHEM131. He is much a much dedicated professor and has everything prepared (handouts, syllabus, instructions on board) and printed.
Hello everyone, I extremely recommend Mr. Andrewsky for anyone that is willing to spend their 3 months with no stress. You will recieve 200% more of what you have given to him! He is supportive and understanding professor, as long as you have your responsibilities tidy. You are willing to get high lab scores and homework(Y) he grades respectfully.
Professor Andrewsky is one of the most professional teachers I've had the privilege of meeting. He is very well-spoken and is truly invested in his students' success. He is very approachable and gives clear instructions. In all my time at WWU and most recently at GRC, I have never met such a likable professor. GRC is lucky to have him on staff.
He is a really awesome instructor. Very clear lectures and helpful group working. He will give study guide before tests, those are super helpful! Highly recommend taking his class!
Mr. Andrewsky has seriously been one of the best instructors Ive had at GR. He genuinely cares about your success and does everything in his power to ensure that you will do well. His lectures are easy to follow and he always takes time to answer every question clearly. He provides study guides for tests that help A LOT. Overall, highly recommend!
Mr. Andrewsky is an amazing instructor, and he really wants to see everyone succeed. He also loves answering questions during lecture, and tries to make sure everyone is on the same page before he moves on to a different subject. I highly recommend taking his class. The book is in the library for the textbook homework. So you don't need to buy it.
Mr. Andrewsky is the best Chemistry instructor! I LOVE his class. I barely passed Chemistry in high school. However, I'm in A+ right now! He makes the lecture fundamental, clear and easy to understand. He truly cares about his students and will do everything and answer any questions to help them success! As long as you study, you will do good!
Andrewsky is the best professor I have ever had. He truly cares about his students, and always willing to answer questions. His lecture is easy to understand and follow. His textbook homework, activities and study guides are really helpful! Even though my major's not about Chemistry,I still can be able to get 4.0 GPA in his class. Highly recommend!
I just don't have enough words to say Thank You to my extremely kind, hardworking, honest , Professor Andrewsky. He explains everything in steps and goes in lots of detail. All of his power-points are very easy to understand as well, because it breaks down everything. Definitely take him, best professor ever!!!
Mr. Andrewsky was an amazing teacher, he's very organized which makes life so much easier and makes learning chemistry easy. He's willing to help you out of class. His exams are pretty straight forward and the exam study guides are pretty close to whats om the actual exams. as long as you pay attention its hard to fail this class.
Mr. Andrewsky was an amazing professor, so thankful to have had him for my first Chemistry class. I am not good at math nor science but he makes it easy for you. Show up to class and take notes, study the study guides and turn everything in and you will do great. He is very lenient when he grades and he makes it easy for you. Recommend!
Mr. Andrewsky is a really nice teacher. He is knowledge and caring about his students. He always posts test review for us before the test, and it is helpful. His organization is very well, and powerpoint is easy to follow. Really recommend taking his class.
THE BEST PROFESSOR
Mr. Andrewsky is a really nice professor. He is the best chemistry professor that I took on GRC campus. He is very patient, and he will repeat important notice more than twice. His lab is also interesting and easy to understand. He will give student study guide before tests. Also, he will drop the lowest lab score. I recommend to take his class.
Mr Andrewsky is a great teacher! His lectures are interesting and hes really easy to access outside of class too. He makes sure to answer all questions anyone has until they understand. His passion for chemistry is obvious in his teaching and he adds extra credit to tests. I highly recommend taking his class!
He is an amazing teacher! Have study guide before exam, and it was super helpful! He is caring and willing to explain questions that we don't know with Clear explanation.
Mr. Andrewsky is an excellent professor. Extra credit integrated into tests. Labs easy if you follow directions. 95% and up is a 4.0 and ive maintained a 98% this whole quarter. Lectures on his PPTs and theyre very interactive. Really sweet guy he loves chemistry. Doesnt answer questions very well but just do the assignments and you will pass!
Very good professor. Definitely knows his chemistry. Labs were fun and integrate. Could work on talking with students more when they do not understand a topic. Easy class but only if you actually do your work
Mr. Andrewsky is the best professor! He is very caring and answers our questions always clear. His lectures are interesting and inspirational, he uses great PowerPoints for student success. They are so clear and interactive with many pictures and real life examples. Gives excellent study guides for exams and includes extra credit on his exams. A+!
Mr. Andrewsky is simply the best chemistry professor. He would always thank you for in front of the class for asking questions and who else would do it? He answers questions clearly and posts excellent powerpoints for you. They are neat and nice and are never confusing or clumsy. He also gives extra credit on exams and study guides which help you.
Wow, the best professor I have had. So caring and REALLY wants you to learn & love chemistry. I was terrified to take the class but he made it enjoyable and easy. Lectures were amazing, lots of work but answer keys were always available for everything plus extra credit on tests and great study guides. Easy 4.0 and I 10/10 recommend.
Mr Andrewsky is a very patient teacher, some times I would fall asleep in class and miss out of the class material, Mr Andrewsky still took his time and explain it to me over and over again until I get up outside class time. Sometimes I am unprepared to class and I would tend to ask stupid questions nevertheless, Mr Andrewsky answered all patiently
Mr Andrewsky is very accessible outside class, reply emails on the same day. As long as you read the book and go to class prepared, you'll do good. Every major exams have extra credit questions.
I enjoyed Mr. Andrewsky's class. He is always so patient and made sure that we all understand the material. He made his class to be enjoyable and welcoming for everyone. He also respected us greatly and always addressed us by "ladies and gentlemen" which I personally liked. Exams have extra credit, lectures are interesting, and keys are posted. A++
If you take Mr. Andrewsky's class you will never be scared and he makes chemistry to actually be enjoyable. There is substantial amount of optional activities for us to prepare ourselves better for exams and he offers extra credit on all tests. His lectures are interesting because he uses many real life examples and his slides are best.
Mr. Andrewsky was an amazing teacher! He made sure that all the students understand the material and he was willing to help any student struggling. Lectures and labs were easy to understand and enjoyable which on every exam extra credit was given. He also grades and responds very quickly to emails.
Great
He was amazing! In lectures you print out the power point and fill in the blanks during class. There was usually an activity to do at the end of class, key was then posted on canvas. With the exams and finals there was extra credit. He dropped the lowest lab report and the lowest activity. He said funny things that helped me remember the concepts.
His instruction is crystal clear, and he explains exactly what you should do for the tests and what you should be careful of. Although you have to work hard and spend good amount of time on the homework, you never get confused of the procedure of the class.
He is awesome and teaches CHEM140 for the first time with his brand new material. Despite the fact that there are very rare typos which he corrects in class his attitude is outstanding and he answers all questions as clearly as he can. He is very caring and tells us many interesting things in addition to lecture material which helps us to learn.
I love his style of teaching and his powerpoints are superb because they are so informative, rich, easy to follow, organized, and are great substitute for the text. Mr. Andrewsky gives us extra credit on exams and is very caring. He answers all of our questions and the class never gets boring. He uses great examples from real life to explain things
Mr. Andrewsky is one of those teachers that is available for you whenever you need him, and he definitely cares about your success. I haven't had many other teachers that are actually able to work with you and help you do your best the way that he is willing to help. Lectures are needed to pass and the labs are also very interesting.
Great instructor who makes class interesting, enjoyable, and rewarding for you. You really have to work for Mr. Andrewsky's class and this is always expected in chemistry, but he posts PowerPoint notes, exam study guides, and allows you to use flash card on exams. He is always punctual and caring, and lower to answer questions. He is honest too.
Best teacher ever, Mr. Andrewsky is my overall best teacher I have ever had. He uses plenty of analogies and even puns to help you remember important topics. Chemistry is now my favorite subject and he is the reason why!
Wonderful and helpful goes above and beyond to help, you just have to ask.
Love this professor when taking his class. His lecture notes are outstanding and prepare you very well for his exams. He gives great study guides and is also tutoring chemistry so there would be lots of opportunities to meet with him and get help. Glad I am taking the class from him. He will disappoint you.
Good teacher; very polite, but his grading is a bit ridiculous. You get points taken off for small, non-conceptual errors, like not having a tail for lowercase 'u's. Not too much homework; practice problems are helpful. Also, It's a bit strange that every single rating here is 100%. He's good, but these ratings are far too overdone to be real.
Great prof that answered all my questions clearly. Use office hours to your benefit! Loved the labs and tests material was all covered in lecture.
Nice outside of class. Though attendance is not mandatory, he specifically hands out assignments in class to force you to come. Hard grader on labs, took points off because i didn't add a tail to my lowercase u... Acts as though it is a high school environment, follow his rules exactly or you will struggle and probably not pass. Still a nice human.
Hes a good teacher. Nice guy and really good at explaining, everything is taught that you are supposed to learn in this class. Easy tests, and easy labs. Only downside is that if you are late to your lab by 10 seconds you will be told to leave and not participate in the lab. Thats the bad part but it is what it is.
Sometimes a great person and sometimes makes you want to cry. Stayed up late every night before a lab or exam...a lot of material to learn. Very tough grader. Picky in word choice and marks tiny errors off. Good professor though and teaches everything that will be needed and used in class/exam/lab.
Great and reasonable professor who teaches you everything you should know for the test. He posts great lecture slides that you fill in the blanks in and these are very useful for the test. You must not be tardy for labs and he will not allow you to work but only if you are 3 or more min late, not 10 seconds as in the previous review.
It was hard to understand him sometimes because of his accent but over all the class was good. He wanted us to buy a textbook but I didnt buy it and have 4.0. Hes picky to everything youre saying or writing down so be ready for that. Good thing is that he gives many opportunities for extra credits.
Andrewsky really cares about his students and always try to do his best when teaching. THE BOOK IS NOT MANDATORY, JUST THE ACCESS CODE (i cannot stress this enough, over the quarter i touched the book once to get a definition, thats it).
Mr. Andrewsky is the best professor I have ever had. He is easy to talk to, always gives you a chance to ask questions about the material, his lectures are really good, he makes jokes and keeps us on track! He is very understanding and anyone in class will know that whatever he does is for the best of his students. He is your perfect professor!
Mr.A was open to answering students' questions about the assignments and was open during tutoring hours. He also gave little practice assignments to do in class and would later upload a key to check your work before you turned it in. You need to show up to get the assignments (paper) in class. EC offered in tests.
8 labs, 3 exams, 1 final. DON'T BUY THE BOOK, JUST THE ACCESS CODE. He's really funny and his lectures were made interesting. He offers a solid amount of extra credit. He drops the lowest lab. Not too much homework but it has an impact on your grade. Easy grader, will take off like 0.25 points if you make a mistake. I am in Running Start.
Great teacher, kept you interested with jokes and side comments that made you laugh. Textbook isn't mandatory but helps with some homework questions. Access code NEEDED! Enjoyed the class just be prepared for labs they are a lot of work. Also would be easier if your printed out his power points to take notes, saves a lot of time.
Prof. Andrewsky is my favorite prof and the BEST professor I have ever had!!! Just trust me and take this class.
I havent taken his class but he tutors for gen chem students, and he is awesome very smart and full of wit gives great advice better then my teacher. Although he seems like a professor who wouldnt grade harshly. He was actually a student here before getting his degree in chemistry. Take him if u can and also utilise tutoring at holman libraby
Buy the access code, not the textbook. He is such an enthusiastic and personable professor who always makes an effort to connect the class topics to real-life through analogies. Taking notes is really easy because he provides blank copies of his powerpoint slides.
I hated this class. Andrewsky is very smart and understands chemistry well, but he struggles to explain the content at an introductory level. If you aren't in class you can't get the notes anywhere else, and he also gives out assignments in lecture that you can't get elsewhere. I found his accent and grammar really hard to understand.
I loved his class and he gives lecture notes to everyone who asks when you were absent because he cares that you have what you need for studying. He is also available outside of class to help you. He tries to explain everything and welcome all questions. I succeeded in his class because he helped me a lot and I love his teaching style.
Great professor who provides lecture slides with the blanks to be filled in class which is really helpful for studying. Uses clickers in class which makes it fun to see how the entire class is doing and offers extra credit on all his exams + final. Speaks 3 languages and has some accent but this doesn't make it difficult to understand him.
Great professor who cares about his class and is very approachable. Respects you and gives you lecture notes with fill in the blanks that you fill in class as he lectures. Uses clickers which is fun. Lectures a lot but teaches you many things that you will later need for your program.
Andrewsky was very tough grader and he gives a lot of homework assignment. He told me and my friend to leave out of the tutoring center because we didn't have enough questions. He gives extra credit but its very difficult. Exams and study guides are totally opposite from each other and difficult to understand him with his accent. DONT TAKE CLASS!
Good professor whom I would take again. He is accessible outside of class and answers your questions (despite previous review misleading) thoroughly and will never tell you to leave. He has three midterms and one final and he also provides you with lecture notes that you need to fill out in class and there are also study guides available.
Great person who definitely knows what he teaches and who gives thorough study guides that you make sure to use for exams as there are many problems that are similar. He has online homework through Pearson and this is extensive but this is what you expect to have in just about any chemistry class. I like his humor that he uses in class for teaching
I like this professor a lot and I learned a lot in his class. He gives a lot of real life examples where specific chemistry problems would apply and this makes his lectures interesting and engaging. He uses clickers and these were fun! Definitely recommend.
Absolutely great teacher, even better person. Very passionate about what he teaches, his lectures can be boring, but he insures you get the information. I took this class for fall quarter 19,and we had two hour lectures every Thursday. Those sucked. Overall, very good. If you get lost, he's always in the tutoring center, so that helps.
You need the online access code for the textbook to complete the homework, but the actual textbook isn't needed. Lectures are long and boring.
Definitely knows his subject and is ready to help you in and outside of class. Lectures are long but there are lots of topics to learn so that's why. He gives you lots of examples from real life when introducing or explaining topics. I liked his study guides for exams as these are really helpful to prepare for his tests. I would take him again.
Love this man. He makes me laugh all the time, I didn't think his class was very hard. I did take Chem 141 before this, so I already knew a few things he talked about. His lectures involve printing a lot of fill in the blank slides that he gives the answers to, but only as notes. Overall, a really good professor I recommend him!
His lectures lasted for 2 hours, and were all done by powerpoint. I basically had to re-teach myself how to do the homework by watching videos because I did not understand anything. Also tutoring hours were not helpful, left with more questions then I came with. Overall would not recommend to anyone.
Great caring instructor whom I highly recommend. He posts and uses powerpoints that consist of fill-in-the-blanks filled in class which really helps for studying. Makes a lot of jokes in class which makes class funny. This quarter he is teaching many classes and his hours are limited but he is helpful when you ask him questions.
Andrewsky is one of my most favorite instructors and he made chemistry fascinating to me and now I enjoy the subject which I hated and feared before. Attendance is not mandatory but you must come to class because a lot of topics are presented and taught and you will get seriously behind. I had to work hard but he made me completely prepared for 131
In Mr. Andrewsky's class lectures and worksheets matter a lot and though he does not require you to come to class, you will need to come and take notes because he prepares you for his exams very thoroughly. This quarter lectures are two hours but he does a mix of lecture and worksheets. Overall I am pleased and recommend him.
Great personality who always treats you in a professional and respectful manner and will always addresses his class "ladies and gentlemen". He was always tried to answer our questions in thorough manner and he linked chemistry problems to real world examples. I loved his lecture powerpoints because they have everything you need for his exams.
No textbook or access card, finished with a 3.0. Extra credit on all tests and extremely easy (tests took about 20 minutes to complete if u knew the material). Nitpicky grader when it comes to word choice. Tries to make lectures fun and uses many real world examples. Attend lectures to get a clear understanding of material or else u will struggle
Generally easy class. Gives out a lot of activity in class to do (almost every lecture). Always available to answer questions outside of class and responds to emails rather quickly.
Mr. Andrewsky has an absolute adorable Ukrainian accent that makes lectures quite interesting. He can get frustrated easily with students in lab, and I at times felt like he was annoyed with me when I would ask questions. Don't forget to do the pre-lab!!!!! Also I highly recommend printing out the lecture slides every time to take the best notes
I'm sure he's a great teacher otherwise but since his class was online this quarter (spring2020), he was absolutely terrible. He did not hold any zoom sessions and we were all on our own to figure out labs, and everybody was extremely confused and he was not helpful at all. I suggest you don't take this class online especially with him. No guidance
Andrewsky is always available by email and responds on the same day. Posts Panopto video lectures and tells you how to complete the labs. Labs can be hard at some points but he always helps you if you ask him and provides you with guidance. He also posts daily reminders on what we need to do and his calendar is very helpful.
I took CHEM140 in Winter 2020 and I like it because Mr. Andrewsky was very helpful and always accessible outside of class and by email. Part of the quarter ended up online and he tried to guide us through the remained of the school term to make sure we pass. He posted his complete lectures and the powerpoints and the study guides which were helpful
In Andrewsky's class there are worksheets to complete and he gives you his complete lecture notes, exam study guides, optional activities for practice and the keys for assignments. He post daily directions on assignments. There are no Zoom sessions as these don't work for everyone because of time zone differences. I live in China and can't use Zoom
Make sure you do the work and ask Andrewsky questions as he replies fast and clarifies if you don't understand something. Expectations are reasonable. Popular class for international students and maybe that's the reason why there were no Zoom sessions as they would not work if you live overseas and need to take this class. I would take him again.
I found his class easy because I took chem in high school. My regret is not being able to take him earlier but I enjoy his online class. Labs are somewhat difficult but if you ask him questions he will guide you through. His video lectures are clear and I learned a lot and was able to do great on his exam as a result. He does what he can for us.
He's a very likeable person, sometimes a frustrating teacher. Great lectures, and examples shown in class. Always seemed to misunderstand the questions my class was asking. Gives reasonable partial credit on exams, and is clear with expectations. Strict with lab work, which often felt menial with rewritten procedures. I hate chem but he's alright.
He is the worst professor at the green river college. A lot of lab for an online class with no guide and no zoom class at all just only ponoto recording lecture with not enough details, worst teacher ever.;;
Great instructor who gives detailed daily instructions on what to do with clear plan for work. He posts Panopto recordings of his lectures together with his powerpoints which are super helpful. Exams are not hard if you study and use his study guides.
Enjoyed his class but had to work hard as would be expected in a chemistry class. Would take him again because I learned a lot and it prepared me for my next chem class. His lectures are extremely detailed with lots of information on all the topics that were covered in class. There were seven labs with a lot of work but his instructions were great
Andrewsky guides his class by giving detailed daily instructions on the plan of the day. He also gives you study guides for exams to use for prep. Labs are well structured and he is always accessible by email and replies really fast and answers everything. Hi lecture slides are very detailed and overall I felt confident in his class. Take him!
Clear expectations for exams and labs, great study guides, detailed daily instructions and lectures are very helpful. The use of Panopto in his courses is very helpful and I used all these advantages to pass his class successfully. Also email him with all your questions and he will answer them very fast.
Worst teacher ever. Not enough material, he posts ponoto recording, but none of them is in the exam. I don't have a good experience with him. Do not take the class with him.
this class has been detrimental to my mental health. he is so mean, however, he is the "good" chem professor at grcc. there is a lot of homework and he does leave feedback however he is not nice lol. i would recommend that you do take this class tho
He grades all assignments very fast and always puts in the grades on Canvas so you always know your class standing. Replies to all my emails on the same day and is very courteous and respectful.
The class was easy as I had previous chem background in college but there is high number of assignments, three midterms, the final, and labs. You have to work for your grade but you learn a lot. Professor Andrewsky is always accessible by emails and he always replies within an hour or maybe two on the same day. Vert reasonable with accommodations.
I had a really bad experience in his class. He is not helpful at all especially during COVID 19, Everything is online, not enough material for the course. I will not recommend him for an online class, he is terrible.
Very helpful and understanding instructor. Quickly replies to emails and grades assignments fast. Answers all your questions and provides support when you needed. There is a lot of assignments which is what you would expect in any chemistry class. He accommodated me in time of my medical emergency and listens you when you need.
Very punctual and respectful. Gives a ton of material to study such as very detailed lectures, Panoptos, study guides, and answer keys for activities. There is a lot of homework and everything is online but he is helpful and quick by emails. If you study, you will pass the class without problems. If you rather like to complain, don't take him.
Hes a good teacher but omg... he grades so hard! Every little thing is marked down its like he wants you to fail or no get a 100%. Its a tough class.. so many assignments, Pearson homework, lab and pre lab during the week. He just sucks at grading because he wants it to be 100% perfect which is annoying.
I appreciate daily announcements on what to do in class. They are very helpful. Class is very organized and uses Canvas for everything with weekly modules for stuff and Pearson for homework. Assignments on Canvas have clear and detailed instructions on what to do. Responds to emails very fast. He drops one lab and gives extra credit on all exams.
Chem 121 is an excellent class, But unfortunately taking a class with Alexander, was not a good choice, he has his own teaching style, where he doesn't care about students at all, he copies and past same announcement every day, instead of new materials, the interesti thing, when he read the reviews he gives him at least 3 positive review to improv
He is a really caring professor and he answers the email really fast. If you ask him questions, he will reply with detailed explanations. BUT his labs were super confusing especially at first when I had absolutely no idea about what I was supposed to do. His exams are okay and nothing crazy, but you would have to watch all the lecture videos posted
At first I thought he was rude. he has confusing labs and difficult tests. He grades hard as in very specific about the number of sig figs and adding all units of measurement however, he proved wrong when he allowed me to finish my exam on a different day due to unprecedented circumstances. Read the textbook /labs/watch the lectures thoroughly.
one star for being quick to respond to emails. andrewsky has truly ruined chemistry for me. his workload is really just a load of crap. hes a tough grader too. I now have to retake this class because he refuses to allow students to make up for their mistakes. for example if you input the wrong unit. he will correct it but you'll lose ten points.
Very reasonable and understanding professor, allows to submit things on a later day if you get doctor's note. I was sick with covid and he allowed me to turn in assignments later which was a huge relief. Gives extra credit on all midterms and final. Strict with grading but explains why points deducted. A lot of work in class but you learn a ton!
I would never take a class from this teacher ever again. He gives so much busywork, and gives the KEYS to all the homework assignments... so you don't actually learn anything - most students just use the key. Doesn't proctor exams in any way, but refuses to let you go back to a question on tests. Very confusing lab instructions. Stay far away!
No meeting time strictly online class. Good news-hes quick to respond to emails. Bad news-This is an introduction class however, he grades really hard and takes points off for everything. Lectures-he just reads off the powerpoints. Labs are confusing. lots of homework due each week. Pretty disappointed with my experience this last year with GRC.
Labs are very confusing he doesnt give much instructions on what he wants you to know. His lectures is him just reading off PowerPoint and his class is just way too stressful for a INTRO chem class. You would think he would teach you but I ended up having to learn off of YouTube the whole quarter. I wouldnt take him
He started teaching by zoom and we have question-answer sessions with labs and activities. These are really helpful as he answers all the questions and tells you what to do. Also quick to reply to emails. A lot of readings but he has daily announcements on what to do where he tells everything. He is very helpful! I love his accent!
Horrible teacher, please do not take him if you want to be taught. I have no idea how he has 4.5 but please the positive reviews are probably from his own account. I was really lost in this class, I dont know about you but my livelihood depends on passing this class so that I can be a nurse one day. This man has made a fool of us all! Save yourself
Very hard teacher, He grades things very specifically. Attendance is mandatory. Posts key for all assignments so doesn't feel like learning much. spend 4 hrs a week on zoom for his class just to sit in break-out rooms. barley teaches during the call, with sorry excuses.
He changed his teaching style to better suite our class and he really cares about you and what you learn. He is strict with attendance and assignments, but you can see he is a really good man and teaches really well. Homework is given in bulk with generous time and extra credit questions are on exams. Be an honest student and you will receive an A.
He listens to his students, when hes teaching he asks the student if theres any questions, kind, and he cares about his class succeeding. All around hes a really good teacher
He is super nice and his lectures are very well put together. He is also very quick at responding at email. To be honest, chem is not my best subject - so maybe that's why I'm struggling a little. He does tend to overload though. He gave us a schedule with the syllabus so I've known what's going on. It's just a lot though.
He's very sweet and easy to contact. replies more at night. Grading is significant and easy but only hard grading there is on exams and labs. DO NOT SHARE WORK. he will catch on, and if you do PARAPHRASE. Overall not the worst. Sometimes hard to understand because he words things odd but very very kind man.
Extremely professional and kind. He responds to emails almost immediately and listens to class feedback- he has never been condescending when answering questions which is great, and will help you out when you need it. He is a little bit of a tough grader but he really does not want you to fail, he wants you to succeed. Just ask and he will answer.
Pro: Responds right away to email. Cons: Lectures too fast and not in a way that is easily understood. I never knew what was going on and I'm typically an A student. Assignments were difficult and graded harshly. This was way too intense for an introductory course. I honestly don't know how his rating is so high.
Very patient and caring instructor, respects his students and wants them to succeed, always pauses to allow class to ask questions. Answers questions in a very kind manner and goes over lab and exam instructions. He offers extra credit and lets us know what to do every day. Replies fast to emails. A lot of work but you also learn a lot.
If you did well in math, you'll be fine in this class. Offers extra credit and a very nice man to help you prepare for Chem131. Just make sure you show up to lectures and learn the material properly
He is super polite and I like that he is pausing a lot during lecture to allow us to ask questions. Gives extra credit and tells you why certain topics are important, and his study guides show you what to expect on exams. Quickly replies to emails and grades reasonably fast. The amount of work is huge but he is preparing you well.
Make sure to not procrastinate and do your work on time and read daily announcements that tell you the plan for the day so read those. He is always available by email, and is very polite. His class has seven labs, online homework, and worksheets. There is a lot of lecture and I learned many things from him.
This professor really sets his students up for success, great instructor and great class!
I feel I am strongly prepared for my next class because I learned a lot from him. His class is very well organized and he sets clear expectations for his students.
He is a very kind professor but when it comes to grading he will knock points off extremely quick. MAKE SURE TO ALWAYS HAVE CORRECT SIG FIGS. I have lost a lot of points for simply missing sig figs. Exams are very heavy but fairly easy. Be sure to not procrastinate on the labs and lab reports.
There was extra credit and he was very patient and polite. Moved due dates to make class work load okay. He cares for his students and respects them. He has accent and at times would ask you to repeat the question, but would always respond with politeness and respect. Honestly, I have never seen him being rude in class. Don't believe haters!
This was by far the toughest and most stressful class I have ever taken. the amount of homework and exams/finals/labs was insane and unreal. if you want to fail, this is the class to take. you will lose points for the smallest things which will affect your grade dramatically. I do NOT recommend his class at all.
He has clear expectations for class and his class is very well structured. I learned a lot of material and he has prepared me very well for CHEM131.
Really enjoyed this class! In class time is used for lectures (which are fillable PowerPoint slides), and you also get time to work on worksheets with your peers. He's quick to reply if you message him on canvas and he doesn't take long to grade. Overall the work load isn't heavy and it's definitely manageable
He is a good professor, most of the class is based on lectures throughout the quarter. There is a Lab once a week or every two weeks. Along with about 2 assignments per week, but the assignments can usually be finished during class time. There are 4 tests in the class taken at home and based very heavily on the lecture notes.
hes a great professor who cares for his students. the professor gives very clear and detailed lectures, he doesnt move on from a slide of notes without asking if everyone understands what you learned. He provides keys for all his assignments even for the study guides he gives you for each test.
Professor Andrewsky is very organized, easy to reach, willing to help, and clear. Most of the teaching was done through efficient and clear lectures (slides), as well as some textbook readings. There is a lot of work in class, but if you manage your time well, you should be fine, and he gives time to work in class.
Prof. Andrewsky is absolutely amazing! Definitely likes significant figures and dimensional analysis and will grade tough on them but over all its not a big deal. Goes fast though the material but covers it well enough to understand it.
Although attendance isn't mandatory on paper, you'll struggle if you skip. Lecture PPTs aren't posted online and he's very fast, so make sure to make friends in the class in case you can't make it to class. Gave out study guides that were like the test and the tests were all online, including the final. Just put in the effort and you will get an A.
I enjoyed my intro to chemistry class with Mr. Andrewsky. A lot of the homework was graded based on completion, very little other than the labs and exams was actually graded based on accuracy. The labs were all enjoyable and interesting. Mr. Andrewsky's lectures were also compelling.
Great professor, fill-in-the-blank notes, and the textbook can help with the answers. Online textbook for free if you look deep enough, graded harshly on those significant figures and provided extra credit on exams and one on worksheets. Answer keys on HW and worksheets. Really helpful with questions after class. Exams were online and timed ~3 hrs.
Took Mr.Andrewsky this summer quarter a very understanding instructor and gives clear instructions on what you will be doing the next class ahead of time. I liked his power point slides really helpful and easy to understand. He is very fast in responding to emails and does not delay in grading.
He does these things called learning checks. They are closed note and cover things you quickly went over in class. Is harshly graded and drops your grade a decent amount. Super strict in the lab which is goofy (if you have your water bottle out he will scold you). The lectures are easy to fill in, but long and is hard to be present he gets 5/10.
He sounds like Gru from Despicable Me and always is wearing a lab coat. Nice enough, but the lectures take forever and are meh. If you get distracted easily or tend to zone out, then the lectures will feel infinitely long. Gives extra credit opportunity, short tests, post labs suck, but don't they always. Good luck, figure out sigfigs.
Loves the subject he's teaching, lectures are so useful and critical for learning and passing class, gives extra credit, very polite and fast at responding emails. Always clear expectations on tests and assignments and is respectful and respects his students. I like his class which I need for my degree.
Honestly an amazing professor. Has an accent so sometimes it is hard to understand but he's fluent in english. Online exams which was nice. Genuinely cared about student's success. Lectures were fill in the blanks which were nice but it sometimes had you not remembering the material. Overall I highly recommend
One of best professor I had for chemistry. Well structured class, organized lecture and materials. No delay on grading and replying emails. Participation matters, but grading was not harsh at all. I still use his materials for my gen chem classes to help understanding. Gives lots of extra credits. No f2f office hours, which was only downside to me.
Andrewski is a great professor. He is very funny, great communicator and much more. He has an accent which wasn't a huge deal for me. The class though is annoying. 2 hour lectures for 4 days a week plus it is chemistry so just being in that class makes you hate the professor even more. I thought he did a pretty good job of balancing the class
Good professor. Lectures can be boring because they're 2 hrs a day. But other than that he reply's to emails quickly and gives feedback. Exams can be daunting but use the study guide he provides you will do great! Ended up with a 4.0, just do all the work, extra credit and study a bit and you'll be fine. Gives extra credit just for going to class!
Andrewsky's lectures are engaging, with fill-in-the-blank notes that keep you focused. Grading can be harsh, but he provides extra credit opportunities. The textbook is helpful, and Unstuck study made studying much easier. Overall, a worthwhile class.
He's a great professor, teaches well, structures his class nicely. Lectures are boring, but they're lectures. There aren't really assignments, just exercise sets done in class w/ partner and finished at home. Tons of extra credit. Only downside is that we have to write the procedure for every lab. Exams are based on learned material, no surprises.
Prof. Andrewsky was amazing, he clearly loves chem and cares about students. Lectures may be slow but workload is not too heavy- just don't put off textbook hw. Exams are important but not weighed too heavily. Labs were fun and quick, I liked this class a lot considering I had no prior experience with any chem.
For any of the exams you are not allowed a note card or any form of notes, and exams are pretty heavy lot's of material covered. Study guides don't stick to exam criteria so be ready. Attendance is mandatory, or else you will be falling behind after missing one day. Labs and homework were not the worst.
He was a really good and organized professor who always gave good feedback and was always willing to help if needed, his class was very fun and I would take again.
He's a sweet professor but his class does not need to be 4 times a week. Attendance is mandatory and if you miss a day, you automatically fall behind unless you have an official note from a doctor, police, judge, etc. Exceptions being labs, you cannot miss a lab. He explains concepts well, but most of the lectures could've been online.
He is a great professor. Really cares about teaching students and wants you to really understand the material. This class is difficult to understand (the material), but he gives lots of study help and multiple chances for extra credit!
I think he is adamant about the Lab assignment
He's really nice over all, but he doesn't always understand what is being asked of him. Tries his best to answer all questions but sometimes misunderstands in a way that can be frustrating. EXTREMELY lecture heavy, and does quizzes in the beginnings of most classes.
Was very helpful and accessible throughout the quarter. Lectures are clear with a lot of material that well prepare you for chem 161. Constantly checked through the lecture to see if we had any questions and made a class environment welcoming. Showed a great respect for students. I felt esteemed because he always addressed us by our first names.
Professor Andrewsky's Chem 121 class was a class that you had to pay attention to, but the work was manageable. Lab participation was mandatory and there is definitely homework but overall I enjoyed his class
Mr. Andrewsky is quite the character - his lectures are 100% worth attending and are as fun as the work itself. You may leave the lab as soon as you finish. Extra credit is offered. Exams are on paper and are mostly multiple choice with lenient essay questions. Late assignments accepted up to 3-4 days (?). As easy as high-school chem.
Updating my rating after taking Ochem and other science classes. I now feel like his resources lead you to making more mistakes that would possibly lead to lowering your grade. He was an ok teacher but if I were retaking chemistry I'd look toward a different instructor.
I can tell he really enjoys teaching, was always accessible outside of class, and receptive of students' questions. I felt I could ask him anything and he would always answer it and complements us for asking questions. I felt encouraged and supported. He gave us extra credit of exams and there were also assignments for another extra credit.
I liked him very much. He gave us lots of jokes and life analogies. On the spot he would always compare whatever chemical idea or concept with something practical and familiar from everyday life. This helped to relate and understand his material. His lectures were long but informative and very useful for exams and labs. His exams are not difficult.
He is an amazing professor. He tries to keep lectures entertaining and you will clearly realize that he loves what he is doing. He is very polite and would answer your any silly question. Will take assignments upto 4 days late. Exams were not hard ,if you study. Participation matters in this class but so far the best chemistry professor on campus.
I retook chemistry with another professor and got a 4.0 easily. All Andrewsky did was read off some pre-made slides and grade. Strongly recommend you try another prof.
His class was fun, his exams used material in his study guides fill in the blank lecture slides that he had us to fill out in class. Was making lots of comparisons of chemistry concepts to everyday scenarios which was very helpful. Made lots of practical jokes in class, so we laughed at times. Offered extra credit.
He is an amazing professor who lover what he is doing. Really inspirational. I was scared of chemistry before but in the process I ended up liking the subject very much. I now have no fear of taking my next class. He is very polite, pausing often to ask if his class has any questions and would always thank students for asking him questions.
Overall, good prof, helpful during labs, fast grader, allows resubmission with little point deduction, VERY lecture heavy.
Andrewsky made chemistry incredibly smooth-sailing for me. He is an incredibly kind person and understands reasons for being late or missing class. Super lenient grader, but just try not to turn things in late. Very lecture-heavy, but always attempts to answers questions to the best of his ability without any judgment. KNOW YOUR SIG FIGS!!!
