Our group had this prof's first multiple choice exam ever (as the mid-term) - it was disasterous! Seriously, push for the essays - the final was much better, allowing people to bring in all the bits of knowledge they'd picked up through the course.
I think it's disgusting that we are rating our profs on appearance, though he is DAMN HOT, and i mean seriously hot!!!! great lectures, amazing insights, brilliant lecture style, spectacular material, can we really criticize someone that is so brilliant!
Lectures were totally disorganized and random - but materials were interesting.
sooooo boring. No really... it's not just the material, which would probably be okay, but his voice is monotonous, he speaks really slowly, and repeats ideas and concepts. The class is unorganized and he allows people who just like to hear themselves toalk usurp the conversation.
Amazing
lectures are interesting, but totally random. He gives hard tests and he is a hard marker. Also, he totally favours guys in the class, and can have a lot of attitude. Oh and he never e-mails you back. If it wasnt for the great material, I would avoide him at all costs.
Dull, unoganized, extremely biased in reading choices. He's very intelligent but can go too far intelletualizing everything. Favourizes the brown nosers and leaves everyone else hanging. Doesn't answer his email. On a positive note... his unorganization leads to extensions.
amazing! amazing class! take any class with him if you can!
Interesting, and a challenge. Take him if you want to learn something, but do not expect an easy ride. As a heterosexual female, i have seen that one can very well be attracted to a man, a woman, or in transition from one to the other.
awesome, one of the best profs ive ever had.I dont find he favors men at all,the opposite is true. he favors people with character, attitude, ind.+ rational thought. brilliant, intresting, yet a little biased it's true, but so sexy. he makes you question the world and yourself. Really hard exams though.
This prof saved my first semester at concordia from being a total waste. His lectures were stimulating and demanding, and I learned a lot despite already being familiar with feminist philosophy. Only complaint: don't put questions about Merleau-Ponty (etc.) on the exam--they just confuse.
Amazing professor. Totally lives the theory, blurring the lines and making you wonder about the suitability of characterizing life/theory in the first place. I very much respect this man.
interesting...find it amuding that we all try to be so politically correct in his his. Do you think he cared?
Sure he's a smart guy but he has the unfortunate inability to mask his disdain for students and different opinions. Midterms are ridiculous. Make sure you bring a big stick and a strong will to the table so when he bludgeons you with his "radical" "philosophy" you can bludgeon right back.
I've got to say I love this man. Absolutely wonderful prof and class. He really made me want to work as hard as I could. A good motivator indeed! He's extremely intelligent and fascinating. TAKE HIS CLASSES
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PROF! brilliant man who encourages his students to "come to voice." exams are super easy, as long as you explain your context and where you're coming from. acknowledge that your opinion is not the be all and end all, and he'll appreciate your work even more. can't wait to take another class with him again!
a very good teacher interesting and impressive and inspiring
Very interesting and open minded prof. LOVED this class. This is what university is about. Discovering new concepts with a passionate teacher. If you get a chance, please take a class with this man!!! The readings are challenging and insightful. He will not "bludgeon" you. He is open to all opinions. Take this class. You wont regret it!
Very uninteresting, disorganized prof. Although I enjoyed the first class I took with him, the second one (Queer Fem) was simply torture. Would never want to take another class with him again.
Please do not take this class as a general ed...you will regret it! He is completely disorganized, sloppy and with no methodology to this thinking. He is also very narrow minded and likes his classes to be full of "die hard" fem students that would rather bow down to him than think for themselves!
lets just say amazing!
The class was great. Very interesting course material. Pretty difficult exam, but not too difficult if you actually read and go over all the material (and i think he is making it easier next year). You can interpret the course in whatever way you want with the paper and final exam. I would highly reccommend this class and this prof.
i agree that you can go in any direction in your essay as long as you keep with the ideology or ideas presented in class. he didnt want people to focus on an anthropoligical perspective in "intro to women's studies" but i did anyway, while keepign with the feminist analysis and got a good grade.. what you learn makes up for the uni-directional vib
He's a total ****. If you ask him for feedback or a grade, he won't give it ("it's all relative...") He declared at the beginning of class that he's tired or teaching, so he was leaving the class up to us for the semester. I paid $500 for this?
If you don't know or like Simone De Beauvoir, you will by the end of session. Be ready to forget every thing you thought you knew about yourself! Challenging and wicked class discussions.
Interesting course topics. Teacher likes to hear himself speak but for the most part it's worth it. He has an interesting story to tell if you're the lucky class to get to hear it. I didn't really do my readings for most of the semester and still got an A-. Not enough feedback for paper.
Easy class if you attend evrey class. Lots of readings but gives you hints on exam questions. Very good teacher, knows his subject.
great teacher! I learned a lot especially when it came to doing my research paper i had much freedom writing it and he gave good feedback and was open to questions. I have been at conu for 3 years and he is the BEST teacher i ever had!!
Good knowledge of topics , easy enough exams , gives questions to study before hand . Just attend class and you'll be fine

Kinna hard to talk to. Will not engage easily in a conversation but still a KA teacher.
Great professor. Interesting, inspired, unique and great text selection. He constantly pushes peoples buttons and boundaries. Need more teachers like this one.
Is disorganized, has an adversarial demeanor and explains philosophical concepts poorly. Talks as if we're all PhD students. Spent most class time talking about Baudrillard or Foucault, but neither was on either exam. Makes me not want to take more Philosophy.
I've had nothing but great experiences in this prof's classes. You get back what you put in with him - if you're interested and challenge yourself, he's incredibly supportive and helpful. If not, he won't invest as much time with you. If you come into the class expecting another old white guy who will just confirm your biases for you, you probably
Very unclear and unorganized. Makes the topic more complicated then needed. When talking to him one on one, he wasnt so helpful, kinda rude actually..wouldnt recommed taking him
This teacher spent most of the class talking with his favorite pets. When speaking with him after class he was irrationally rude, accusing and condescending. Tests and paper are easy but the class lacks content.
Went out of his way to help me do well when unforeseen circumstances kept me from handing in a paper on time. Text selection varied and highly relevant. Insightful and interesting to listen to. Class struck the perfect balance between easy to understand but still highly challenging. Highly recommend.
This teacher is bad, doesn't help and has super boring lectures. Avoid.
This teacher is great, explains very well, does not talk to student like they are all philosophy major. His class on politics and sex was very interesting and easy to follow. If you listen in class and takes notes you will be fine. Paper is a little longer than in other class - 12 to 15 pages but if you find an interesting subject, you'll be fine.
Genuine teacher, truly brilliant and really easy to get attached to. Get ready for some reading but others make it seem as though it is abundant and too much. This is university , obviously there's some work involved. Random lectures but relevant to the course. Freedom of expression. Take him, you won't regret it. Exams= challenging but doable.
This Prof was great, a real inspiration for me. You are a Uni student therefor required to be able to do certain things at this point. He is kind hearted and will help you if help is needed. Readings and attendance a must. LOVED HIM.
This is the most ridiculous excuse for a university level class I've ever been exposed to, avoid at all costs!!!
Nice guy, not super helpful after class though. Class could use more content but it is still an okay class.
The authentic brilliant mad professor.
Name another prof where students get to experience Foucault and Porn in the same course.
I started off the semester looking forward to taking this class with professor Antonopolous as I'd read greats reviews on here. I quickly learned otherwise, prepare to be scolded for expressing opinions which conflict with his. Seems he doesnt care about his students doing well in the course and is very vague. Changed my minor because of this class
Smart guy, really knows his material. Seems like he's more interested in his students understanding the material rather than just testing on memorization. Has his favourites, but I did pretty well by keeping quiet, reading the text book and going to every class. Fairly easy to get a good mark if you keep up with the readings.
Mind numbing lectures. I was really excited about Women's Studies until I took his course. He lectures like he is reading directly from a textbook and I found all class discussions very unaccessable to me as a novice fem student. I am VERY interested in the subject matter but his style of lecturing butchered the course material for me.
Brilliant Prof.
Long, boring lectures. Not very animated, and reads out of textbook. Would not recommend this class to anyone looking for an interesting women's studies class. Was looking forward to this class ... Unfortunately, I was disappointed due to the teacher's approach.
His lectures will bore you to death. He takes breaks mid sentence that will confuse you. His midterm exam doesn't test anything besides your ability to memorize quotes. He's not very accepting of opinions that are against classic feminist views. I don't recommend the class at all.
I have no problems with attendance or reading a ton before a class. I do not appreciate how vague he is about assignments, or his weird rants about "regurgitating information". I feel like I wasted an entire semester on a class I gained nothing from. would not recommend him to my worst enemy.
Monotone, confused, takes too many pauses when he speaks so everyone gets lost. So boring. Speaks about the readings that we've read. You can just read the readings and NOT come to class. strongly don't recommend taking his class. TAKE IT WITH SOMEONE ELSE
This teacher is supposed to be teaching a class about Women's Studies, a subject where open-mindedness and acceptance are required. You can imagine my surprise/disgust at being singled out for being a straight male in his class. Knows his subject but has no clue how to teach it and refuses to accept a point of view that does not match his own.
A genuine, brilliant and direct professor. Tells you exactly what is required and has extensive knowledge and fleuncy of subject matter. If you are looking to regurgitate information, this professor is not for you.
The lectures were rather confusing, he has a nasty habit of going off topic. However, the selection of readings we were assigned were amazing!
This class is the reason I'm switching majors. Very educated in Women's studies but is terrible at teaching it. Repetitive, boring lectures, doesn't accept students opinion that go against the basics of traditional white feminism or his opinion, isn't helpful when asked. Do not recommend this teacher, save your time and money.
Alex is the best prof I've ever had!
Oh man! He seems to know his subject very well, however, it doesn't translate in his explanations. The paper was really long, you had 2 choices 9-12 or 12-15 pages on any subject you wanted (worth 33% or 50%). Having so many options made it hard to pick something and he doesn't really give you any guidelines. Midterm is MCQ and final essays.
This teacher is disorganised. He switched from one topic to another with no apparent link. The exams make no sense. A bunch of memorisation and essay writing. No clear guidelines for assignments. I wouldn't take this class again.
Alex is a really good teacher and he clearly knows his subject matter very well. His lectures are really interesting and entertaining, but he was a tough grader when it came to the midterm. I will be taking one of his classes next semester as well.
I loved this class. He is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the material. Only problem I would say is that there is not enough feedback. Since the finals are a research paper and written essay exam, it would have been good to know what he is looking for. I think this is really a class where you get out what you put in to it.
honestly, i regret not having waited and taken the course with another prof. interesting readings, but directionless and unclear lectures.
Very disorganized. The course itself is badly organized but the reading are interesting and so is the class material when there is something worth listening to. Antonopoulos is just bad at teaching it. He is knowledgeable but he does have a lesson plan other than weekly readings, he also doesn't seem to have a linear train of thought.
would not recommend... very inaccessible readings for an intro class. scattered lectures. It seems like he doesn't know what the end of his sentence is going to be before he starts talking. He doesn't really provide notes, which would be fine if what he was saying made any sense or was even on topic... just don't haha
Not impressed with this teacher at all. Scattered lectures and very disorganized, often felt like I was lost leaving his class. Not really much help either, found him to be a bit close minded for someone who is teaching a class on feminism. For example if a particular idea or opinion does not correspond to his, he will brush you off. I would avoid
Very nice, I spoke to him numerous times before and after class. He was helpful with my term paper topic, and he was very appreciative of my attendance. He may come off as a bit impatient at first but if you talk to him one on one he'll really help you out. The midterm was easy multiple choice, and the final was basically a take-home. Good prof.
His lectures are very scattered and it seems like he never really knows what he's going to say when he starts a sentence. Really hard to follow. The assigned readings are very interesting though and he's a fair grader. Allows cheat sheet on final.
I could not follow the professor's arguments throughout the semester. This class will make you confused. Lectures are not structured, and the teacher does not use slides. I would not recommend this teacher.
the material taught is outdated. the class is part of political science but almost no politics are discussed. tells you the questions on the exam. lectures are boring.
Although very nice and knowledgeable he is sadly not made for teaching. He doesn't have any structure to his lectures, which is a drag. His classes are self-taught, don't bother going to class unless it's the last class of the semester because he gives out the questions for the final (very complex and heavily worded, check sparknotes).
He is a good teacher. really understands what he is teaching, and assigns good readings. Also, for his paper, he gives students a lot of space to choose what they like, which makes the assignment quite fun.
Really nice guy honestly, but this class is pretty vacuous. I don't even recommend showing up except for the two classes where he tells you everything on the midterm and everything on the final. There is no need to buy either of the texts, as he posts the glossaries that are used for the tests and the 1500 word essay doesn't have to reference it.
Took online with professor. It was a mistake. If you email him about grades or questions, he will send you right back to your TA. You are assigned 1 TA who marks all your materials, posts, tests, so it's impossible to know if your TA is just marking creatively. Grades and feedback for tests will not be returned until the last possible moment
PHIL 210 was difficult for an online course. Antonopoulos does not do the grading for the written tests himself. Pretty sure the TAs look for specific words in your answers and therefore it is hard to get above like an 80. So much info in the book and a lot of memorization of specific fallacies etc. Not a lot of work but just completely unenjoyable
Do not take phil210 unless you're trying to waste your time, it makes 0 sense and the content is impossible to learn by yourself (which is basically what you have to do). The online quizzes are graded in the toughest way possible and everyone else I know in this class is literally failing the course.
A really sweet man, but not so good of a teacher. His lectures were redundant. I went to 5 nonconsecutive classes during the whole semester and I still felt like he was repeating himself. I thought it was too bad that he was giving an intro to philosophy class because he did not give anyone the desire to study more philosophy. Test are easy tho.
He's very knowledgeable and passionate about his material, but sometimes repeats himself/loses track. Midterm is all multiple choice (50 questions) because it's faster for him to grade, then an essay and the final is an essay. So many readings. Too many pages to read per week. A book plus 3-4 mandatory readings from online.
He is a super nice and sweet teacher but his lectures are confusing and all over the place, they really lack any form of structure. His lectures don't really make any sense. Most of the exams are of the many many weekly readings. But he is understanding and cares about his students and our well being.
DO YOUSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS PROF!!! His lectures were soooo messy and all over the place. He BARELY gave instructions for the final paper and even when we would email him for clarifications, he did not give any. This class was so confusing. There's A LOT of readings to do. No visual support during lectures. No rubrics.
He is a kind guy and you can tell he loves what he teaches but last semester with him was a mess. He is a rambler and gets stuck in his own tangents constantly. He is very hard to understand and never know which direction he is taking the conversation and are often left in the dark about what is going on. Do not take him if you can avoid it.
He seemed nice enough but the class was so disorganized. He didn't really answer emails when asked for clarification on assignments and rubrics weren't clear. The midterm was multiple choice. The final was another 2000 word paper on top of a 2500 word final paper Also WAAY too many readings. Two textbooks plus regularly 2-4 additional readings.
Lectures are so slow and boring, goes off on many tangents. You can never truly know the end goal of what he's trying to say. Graded only on 3 exams for the whole semester, so if you do badly on anything you're screwed. You're better off just reading the course material in your own time and doing the assignments without attending class at all.
DON'T pick up this class if you miss day 1. I added it just before DNE and was already 8 readings behind by the 2nd class. 4+ dense readings a week, sometimes more (scans, not pdf). The moodle is a complete mess & it's just SO easy to fall behind. Nice guy (but confusing), and very interesting topics but it's a tough class if you're full time.
Worst professor at Concordia. He is so lost at all times that it's just sad to realize that the university wants us to learn with him as our guide. You will not learn absolutely anything because he is very disorganized, he constantly contradicts himself and babbles for the longest time which makes the classes confusing and long for no reason.
HOLYMOLY get ready to read. Ok class, but a disrespectful amount of reading. He's very confusing, hard to follow in lecture, and hardly even discussed the readings. Interesting discussion & important topics but somewhat difficult. I mostly learned from the few readings I did. Overall a very disorganized class. Recommend for the topic, not the prof.
This class was absolutely the most disorganized mess that i have ever experienced in this university. First of all the lectures barely ever actually cover the topics of the course, and mostly everything is done online. It is essentially a free-for-all. Get ready to teach yourself everything.
I actually really enjoyed my lectures with Alex. He definitely meanders a lot and is generally disorganized, but he is clearly brilliant. I loved hearing his train of thought and interesting tangents. A lot of interesting conversations were sparked in his class. It's also very easy to get an A in his class.
The lectures were not very helpful. He spent most of the time going on hour-long tangents, bouncing from topic to topic, without really covering the material we needed to know for the assignments. The class itself wasn't very hard but there were quite a lot of readings to do. I would not say the class made me want to take philosophy again.
Lectures were kinda all over the place, but was a nice and chill classroom environment and I looked forward to going every week. Moodle activities for participation mark, T/F questions for midterm, final paper on a topic of your choosing. I recommend taking this if the rest of your schedule is hectic - requires VERY minimal effort to get an A!
If you are taking PHIL 235 with them then it's a die situation for you. Dont take him.
The grade distribution in the class was worse, with over 50% of students scoring below a B grade. Around 10% of the class strength achieved an A grade
He grades you so harshly, do not take!!!
The class was meant for beginners but the textbook used was terrible and really confusing. The tests are also pretty challenging and the grading on assignments like the chapter reviews is very harsh and the feedback from the TA's isn't helpful
Such a boring and confusing class. Grading was so tough. Do not recommend.
I really liked Professor Alexander for WSDB 290. It was a 'teach your own' method, which i prefer as all students had to do was read the material and show up to lectures. Midterm, Final exam & essay for the class were all online which made it all super easy and made the class more enjoyable. I would take him again for women's studies.
I really enjoyed his class It's really fun and so much is learnt
Professor Antonopoulos is very knowledgeable, but his lectures can be disorganized and confusing. Be prepared for a heavy reading load - this class has a lot of dense material. Unstuck Study AI and ChatGPT helped me stay on top of the workload.
I loved professor alexander for women's studies. I took him twice in the academic year of 2024/25 and he was amazing each time. I wish i could take him again. His expectations are clear from the start, his lectures are a delight to attuned. I really recommend professor alexander for any class you can take with him.
She is the worst prof I have ever had, do not take her at any cost. She just wants us to be miserable. I write the best essays for her and she still gave me 50%. She doesn't care about her students. Do not take her.
