Prof. Kasiukov is soo cool. He's Russian, so very hard to understand, but good nonetheless..he's EXTREMELY helpful and a GREAT teacher. He breaks things down for you to understand. :)
He had absolutely no control over his class. You could get an easy A in the class but you walk out of the class Knowing nothing, so if you have to go on to other math classes you should not want to take this teacher
Dr. Kasiukov has a very thick Russian accent to it makes him very hard to understand. However, he compensates by going over everything numerous times, gives plenty of extra credit, and if you still don't get it after class, he has plenty of office hours. I recommend him.
He makes Math easier by braking them up. He even uses the Computer in Pearl. When you finish his Course you're Ready for the Next Level, no calculator needed. The Accent makes him a funny Guy! He shows the Russian notations in extra to help understand. Cool Computer & Electronics Buddy! Recommended!
Excellent teacher! Heavy, very heavy accent but will go out of his way to help you understand the concepts. Way to smart for his own good lol... Hope you like cats, dogs, and rats, you'll see why if you take him, highly recommend, still keep in touch even though i graduated!!
quizes everyday!! finale impossible no review..i found him very unfair and very hard.
Hard teacher, but cery helpful. if you ask for help, he will help you.

he's a great guy! will stop and explain it till you understand. and i agree with the others! i love the acent!
Nice guy but i did not learn a thing. He is way too smart for his own good. He is willing to help you as much as possible but that still did not help me...........
horrible can't understand anything he should only be a russian teacher because that accent is toooo hard to understand. I found that extra help got me no where.
Horrible teacher..you can not understand anything that he is saying.. half of the time you are to busy trying to figure out what he is saying, and the other half of the time your trying to learn!!!... dont take him!!!!
Nice guy, but always late to class. The accent can be a problem if you don't listen to him carefully! He is ALWAYS willing to help you when you need it.
great guy
He has a tremendous ability to visualize functions and prove theorems. He's a real mathematian, the problem is that most people are not used to this way of teaching because people want to take everything for granted...
very funny and his accent is hilarious, good teacher because if you take all the quizzes and do extra credit which he offers alot of then you will be fine, the final is very hard but you dont need many points to get an A
He is by far the worst teacher I ever had. You can barely understand him and when you do he does not explain himself well. He doesn't grade hws, you have 3 quizzes and a long final and bases your grade on that alone. I worked very hard to pass this class an it was extremely hard. It's bad enough I'm not good at math and having him was worse.
very good teacher, refuses to move on to the next topic until everyone uderstands what is going, teaches alot of theory and not very heavy into solving equations, he does have a thick accent, gives a few quizes that give you a C+ if you get 100 on all of them without even taking the final, with the final 1 question right will get you a B and 6 an A
Ok well he is a really nice guy he has a slight Russian accent the may affect how you learn or understand him. Barely had quiz just one big final at the end. Tends to go on tangents, but overall great guy will work with you to get the grade you want
Professor Alex is a great guy. He won't let you fail unless you really want to. Very helpful, your final grade will consist on a few quizzes and one big, long final. If you study and go to office hours for extra help you should be fine. NOTE: This guy is way to smart. Probably the smartest guy I've met in the field of mathematics.
He is the nicest man I have ever had as a Prof. Extremely bright and kind. He gives you every chance to pass his class. There is no reason anyone should fail. I highly recommend him.
Love him with all of my heart, nicest teacher in this school. Definitely recommend taking anything with him, he is really good at teaching you not only the subject, but life lessons aswell.
Prof. Alex is a great guy, but his teaching style can be rough if your not great with Math. He gives no tests, just random one question quizzes which you can retake as many times as you want. He teaches theory and hardly uses numbers, think f(Cat) f(Dog). Which most American students are not used too. But great guy and interesting class
It's hard to understand him at some points while he is teaching. He is very nice but this class i find it hard to do and other students have discuss this also.
It's hard to understand him at times during class but other than that, he's extremely helpful. He's always willing to help a student out in need especially during office hours. Only setback is his accent.
I absolutly love this professor, he really is such an amazing guy, and teacher! He will do anything to help you understand the material, I would not have such an interest in math without him!!!
I absolutly love this professor, he really is such an amazing guy, and teacher! He will do anything to help you understand the material, I would not have such an interest in math without him!!!
I had him for a Lab Math Class, and he was so helpful and nice, he is always with a good attitude and willing to teach you.
Hard to understand at times (due to heavy Russian accent) but will repeat himself as many times as it takes. So Helpful! will spend hours going over problems with you. Easy grader, mostly based on quizzes, he allows you to retake the quiz as many times you need. If you get 100 on every quiz and don't do the final you will automatically get an C+
Awesome instructor. I could not have done as good as I did without his help. He is a good person, friend, and an extremely helpful professor. I enjoyed the class very much. I recommend him to anyone who is interested in taking an advanced level math course. Not only is he extremely intelligent and helpful but he is hilarious. He is very animated.
good instructor
Extremely nice, helpful professor. The way he explains math is rather abstract; on one hand, this gave me a deeper understanding and appreciation for math, but on the other hand, I feel that I have a poor grasp of applying this math to concrete problems. His final is mad hard, but you only need a 60 to get an A in the class.
If your looking for a patient professor who is dedicated to teaching this is your guy. The class can be very easy to pass or fail, it really depends on ones determination to do or not to do so. Most importantly if your willing to learn a subject Kasiukov is more than willing to help you gain an understanding of the course you are taking.
Awesome professor. Definitely the funniest professor at Suffolk Grant. Bit of an accent, but is easy to get past. Will help you as long as you work hard and try hard. Loved going to class made the subject very interesting. I am now in higher level math classes and his ground work totally made the new classes easier to comprehend. TAKE HIM!!!
Good teacher but he's hard to understand at times. But he has his students guess how to do problems which makes things confusing. Instead he should first teach the whole class
An excelent teacher who always makes sure the class is clear on subjects before advancing to the next topic, and keeps the class light hearted and amused, and speaking for myself, this really helped me keep interest in the course. He really helps students learn the material, and always has office hours to talk to students before and after class.
Excellent teacher. Will work with you untill you understand the material. Funny, keeps class interesting. Enjoyed subject more than I thought. Sometimes hard to understand b/c of accent, but will repeat himself if you ask.
Russian Mr. Miyagi of math. He might be the smartest guy in the whole school, and is extremely accessible and helpful. His fish out of water routine is entertaining as well.
Great math teacher he will teach you to understand the concepts of math instead of just plugging in numbers. Great guy, funny. As far as the class goes it is a breeze just make sure you study for the final.
He is my favorite professor ever so far. He lets you make up quizzes as many times as you want to get a high grade. All that counts towards your final grade are quizzes and final exam. C+ is the highest grade you can get before the final exam. He is very easygoing and he is willing to help you pass his class. I would recommend him. You'd love him
Not that good of a teacher. Only one test so if you're not good at math, you're screwed because yes the quizzes help but you only have one chance to do well on a test.
Great Professor He will give you many opportunities to achieve more than just a passing grade Spends many hours with his students before and after his scheduled classes His final is a template of an old final (which he has posted on his web page) He will use analogy in order for his students to get the concept
I will admit that he is nice and willing to help you. but he only gives one test. and a few quizzes that you can retake a million times if you do horribly. so not worth taking his class. teaches math in a language only he understands. and i love math. now i have to retake this class
Please do not take this teacher. He is a nice guy but there is almost no way to pass this class. I had to retake the class. he only gives one test. save yourself by choosing an alternative
Hes a smart professor but does not use a calculator. He doesn't believe in calculators. You can make up the quizzes a million times til you get a 100. there is only 1 test which is the final. he gives the website of the final and you can print it out and use it. everything is open note book . its very hard to understand him at times.
Professor Kasiukov is not one of my favorite professors. The lab makes it hard to actually grasp everything. He speaks pretty well but sometimes you cant understand him which makes it difficult.
professor Kasiukov is a great teacher if you are interested in math and have a good grasp on it. i personally do not and i have found his class hard but that is just me. be warned that you NEED to be good a math to enjoy his class. he does help a lot but sometimes it's not enough and i would retake this course with a teacher with more structure.
Awesome professor very helpful. if you want to learn and you want a good grade he'll make sure you get it. You just have to ask for his help. He is one of the most helpful math proffessors ive ever had. your grade is dependant on section quizes and one final exam. but he allow you to retake the quizes is you fail.
the best math class ever. the work is difficult but the class is easy to pass. the way he grades you are guaranteed a C. he is very funny and makes the lively. TAKE THIS CLASS
Dr. Kasiukov is a brilliant man. He certainly has a deep understanding of mathematics and he's eager to share it with you. You can retake quizzes, and he offers ample time for them. Visit him in his office hours and he'll be happy to help you out.
just sit in front of the class, just go up on the board because thats your extra credit, It shows him that you want to pass and if you get the answer right you get points on your test.
I took his class and he expects his students to already know what to do, on the board he doesn't like to show the work on how he got to the next step of an equation because he says its "clutter" and makes it more confusing to learn. He always comes into class 10 minutes late and the quizzes are only on one equation.
The best math teacher that I've had at Suffolk. He understands that math can be complicated, so he shows a different way to learn the material.
Easiest class ever. If you do perfectly on all the quizzes you get a C+ without even taking the final. He's willing to help you understand and encourages all questions. He will spend the entire class on one small thing. Sort of hard to understand but you get used to it. He's really smart and tries to relate what he's teaching to easier concepts.
he explains very well. he is willing to spend the entire class in order for you to understand a single example. he always encourages students to go to the board to solve problems and he gives extra points if you get it right. he let's you retake quizzes as many times as you want and if you don't understand it, he's willing to help you out.
He wants his students to have everything from pre calc 1 and pre calc 2 memorized. Half of the semester wasn't even math it was rigorous definitions that I couldn't even understand. He has a heavy accent so beware. It's easy to get used to. There aren't any tests during the semester just quizzes. You can retake quizzes as many times as you want.
He was an amazing professor that was always willing to help. You just had to get his attention!
This professor spends weeks on a single topic and he doesn't end up covering the whole material of the course. If you take a different professor next semester, you will fail and will be behind other classmates who haven't taken him.
Great professor for this course. I highly suggest taking him. Very helpful.
One of the greatest professors I have had the honor of meeting. He goes out of his way for students. The quizzes and the final are open book and you can use any material you want. He would have study sessions where he would teach us up till 1am just to make sure we understood the material, we just had to ask for the extra help if we wanted it.
DEFINITIVELY need more professors like this. He does all he can for his students to not only understand the concepts, but take interest into diving deeper than required. He is brilliant and during his study meetings he'll even help you with other subjects ( helped me with programming and physics). I am so glad to have him again for calc 3.
He is an amazing professor. He is caring and he does everything he can to make sure you can pass.
I had him with this semester, he is really good teacher his grading criteria everything was perfect here is it If you pass his 5 quizzes which comes up to 25 you will have a C+ it doesn't matter if you take final or not. But if you get above 30 on final your grade will be B+. If you get 60 it will be A. Take him he is the best.
Prof. Kasiukov was the man !! He helped me a lot this semester during class and outside of class. He teaches you so you can understand the material by steps! . I would def take him again !
Prof. Kasiukov is patient and dedicated to helping students understand mathematics. Although this was the hardest class Ive ever taken, it was also the most fruitful. If you want an A, much effort is necessary. If you wish to pass, get 5/5 on all quizzes and youll get C+. You can make up the quizzes anytime, so if you do bad its not a big deal
very sweet funny easy to follow
Amazing professor, really tries to make you understand the concept abstractly which requires a lot of effort outside the class to fully grasp the concept. random quizzes which make up 75 percent of the final grade and you can retake the quizzes to get a 100 every time so you already have a C+ without taking the final. final is curved heavily.
way too easy ! take him
He is a noble professor, one of the most enlightened intellectuals at SCCC. The only complaint about his class is that I feel we have not cover any mechanic work related to Calc 3. The majority of class time is spent discussing the foundation of pure mathematical reasoning. I find myself bored in class because I feel I'm not accomplishing anything.
AVOID AVOID AVOID! I was in his Calc 3 class and it was a living nightmare. All he teaches is proofs. You never do any application in his class. Quizzes are impossible 1 question proofs. You can't even google the stuff he goes over in class. No homework problems so there is no way to study and practice. PLEASE do not take this class.
Took him for Fundamentals of Pre Calculus (MAT 124) for Spring 2019. The material is tough but you are given several pop up quizes in which you can retake how many times you want, and if you get a 100 on all of them, you get a C+ without taking final. Quizes are hard and tricky but if you show effort go his office retake exam or after class ur ok.
The guy was funny and seemed very knowledgeable. The only issue I had was that he made everything more complicated than it had to be making things you knew from high school super confusing. Think about any hard, long and tedious way to do a math problem and that's probably the way he's going to show you if you asked him for help.
Honestly just an amazing professor. If you're looking to get by hes not your guy I'm gonna be honest. But if you have drive and passion and want to succeed in math is the guy. I went in just trying to take algebra one and he saw such raw potential that he put me in algebra 2 in the same semester and I walked out with an A. Just qnd amazing human
I regret taking his class, he was kinda hard to understand, especially his lectures. He would make it harder than it is. Also he does not give out homework so you have to pass his pop quizzes and the final just to pass the class. He doesn't give no tests either, and also his quizzes is only one question. Do yourself a favor, don't take his class.
Didn't put any of the work on BLACKBOARD WHERE IT BELONGS. MULTIPLE of the classmates missed the first couple of classes because of this. So does he know how to communicate at all, no. During this its already hard enough never mind having a professor who isn't prepared to teach nor have the work ready.
I used to hate math after taking his class, I swear math became one of my favorite subjects. Many students might not like the way he teaches, but I do. I remember everything single thing I did in his class he took his time to explain. He is very smart he knows his stuff. I like when he said if you have 2 cats lol he has a funny way of teaching.
Very fair and very nice guy. Gives lots of opportunities to retake quizzes. Overall very good professor.
His teaching style is a little different than other but as someone whos first language wasnt English, he explains everything very well. Definitely cares if you understand the lessons, will give extra points if you participate in class. Highly recommend going to his office hours it helps a lot. Wished class was a longer, especially around finals.
I have always been ok in math but with a good teacher im great. His accent is hard to understand, his examples can be confusing. His teaching style is very different from high school teachers. He gives no homework and the quizzes he gives us are only 1 question and the final is 4. good thing is that you can retake the quizzes so its a easy pass.
Personally I dropped him mainly because his accent was very hard to understand. He didn’t wear a mask, he went very off topic, and he takes a long time to explain simple concepts. If you can get past the accent; he is very nice and kind of funny. He is very flexible. No due dates on homework or exams. Allows retakes. Regret dropping him.
He is a good professor , sometimes it is hard to understand the material but if you copy everything on the board you will be fine for pop quizzes and the final.
He's really nice and the lectures are a bit hard because he likes to make easy problems hard for us to understand it better.I liked the class because attendance wasn't a problem for me and the quizzes were easy since they are open notes. Hes a great teacher
Grading system for professor is probably the best I've ever had. you can retake quizzes at anytime and with open notes. He will take time out of his busy schedule to help any student. Truly has a passion for the subject and passes that on to his students by doing everything possible so that we learned the subject.
Overall, Nice person and decent professor. However, he does not assign HW, which would be helpful for people like me who aren't great at math and gives out pop quizzes that play a part in your grade for the course. He does allow you to make up quizzes countless times. This class is more for people who are good at algebra.
Funny guy but his accent is just too much for me, he also goes on tangents about random stuff. Had a class where he went on a 20-25 minute speech about rocket science because someone said math was like rocket science to him. Also when on a 30 minute speech about missile targeting systems. Ridiculous.
Took his algebra II class last fall and was very happy with what I took away from the class. Professor Kasiukov is a caring professor that genuinely wants his students to understand the material. Paying attention in class and taking good notes is important. As long as you care enough about your grade you will do well!
Lectures are tough and topics are unclear. If your major is engineering stay away from his class. You will go into next semester completely lost due to his weird analogies like cat and dog instead of variables and numbers, which he refuses to do until the very end after you are confused. If you are just looking to pass the class he is good.
He is a really nice and good professor! Math is hard in general but he does try his best to teach it in a simple way. He really tries to help his students especially if you go to his office hours!
I struggled with math but he puts concepts in a simple way and makes sure everyone is following along. Participate if you can because he gives points that can help your grades. Highly recommend his classes.
As someone who always hated math AND struggled, Professor Alex makes the subject overall fun and easy to understand. He goes out of his way to help you to the best of his ability. According to him, he wants you "to raise hell" if something isn't right to you. From there, he will do his absolute best to get you to understand.
bad professor for people who are quiet
Good guy at the start of the semester I'm pretty sure he said his goal is to confuse the class which he succeeded in be ready for pop quizzes they are important if you want to pass its nice how he makes quizzes open note and can retake them as much as you want but if you don't understand algebra your going to struggle in this class good luck.
He was Honestly such a good professor you can tell he wants all of his students to do well he goes above and beyond His teaching style is very different which can be difficult but ones you grasp it his class is very interesting participation is very important ask questions he has a lot patience and never minds repeating himself. Go to office hours.
Very intelligent man, the way he explains things is very captivating and interesting. He only wants to see students succeed, Go up to the board as much as possible, as you get one point each time. Pop-Quizes are worth 5 and are only grade besides final and going up to the board. Study a month out from the final, it is difficult.
Does not give HW or test, just quizzes. If you are taking Calculus because you have to and you need a decent grade, this professor will fulfill that need. If you really need to understand Calculus because you are in a STEM field, this professor will leave you unprepared for future classes.
Amazing Professor, If I had to take Calculus I again I would definitely be in his class.
He is a very smart man and I respect him a lot. If you just need Calc 1 for the credit, travel to Brentwood for him. His grades are ~70% Quizzes and then the final Exam. With optional HW. You can however keep retaking the quizzes however many times you need. His lectures are sometimes a bit hard to follow and definitely require study time at home.
I went out of my way to the Brentwood campus just to have Prof. Kasiukov and it was worth the 1 hour one way commute. All of his quizzes are pop quizzes, but they're open note and you can retake them unlimited times. Only 1 exam, the final, which is also open note. **PARTICIPATE** for bonus points. Good professor overall I highly recommend him!
I highly recommend professor Kasiukov. I've never been particularly good at math, but with the help and makeup quiz opportunities that professor Kasiukov provided, I was still able to finish the class with a good grade. He is very knowledgable and helpful. Take good notes (quizzes/ final are open note) and ask questions and you will do well!
He is one of the best professors I've ever had. 75% of your grade is open book quizzes that can be retaken as many times as you need and 25% for the final. Each quiz has a total of 5 points and every time you participate in the class you get an extra point that can be applied to the quizzes. If you show up and take good notes, you will do great.
Math has never been my strongest subject, but his teaching style made it much easier to understand. He was supportive during class and office hours, always willing to help with any questions. I appreciated that he graded based on the steps and not just whether the final answer was right or wrong, which really helped me learn from my mistakes.
Loves to give pop-quizzes but it will help out in the end for when you take the final.
Very smart knows everything can teach you something new and interesting everyday, nice and dosnt make you feel stupid for asking questions. Funny and makes you want to show up.
Great professor, his quizzes are very easy and there open book, but beware with his final test. It was very hard and confusing, but if you participate in class and get those extra points it will pay at the end.
Great professor and interesting class. He knows how to make things easier. Open book quizzes (worth a 75% of the final grade which is a C+). Open book final as well so make sure to take good notes during the lectures. I am definitely taking him again.
Wish I could take him for all my math classes. I was so afraid of taking MAT111 in my 1st semester, and I'm so glad I choose him. He gives you MANY chances for extra credit, quizzes every week that actually help you to stay up to the material, and if you don't do good you can retake it as many times you need. Final test is all from quizzes.
Very professional
(MAT 103) Very funny teacher with his scenarios but he overcomplicates topics to make it seem "easier to understand". I also felt like I was so behind since we kept on going over the same topics. Otherwise, the pros are extra credit for going up to the board and open book pop quizzes can be made up with a different question for a better grade.
I took him a few semesters ago and he was very caring and explained things to students that were confused, however everyone in the class seemed to be confused a lot. He is difficult to understand and doesn't necessarily clarify "what" it is that we are learning about. Genuinely a great man, but not the best math prof.
He is a genuine and funny guy, but he does not even prepare you for the final which is harder than all the quizzes he gave. He also only does one or two hard questions and leaves you confused. He teaches with chalkboard only and does not explain that good. Only take him for lower-level math classes.
Prof. Kasiukov has a unique grading format that gives students the opportunity to retake any of the pop quizzes he assigns. The quizzes are worth 75% of your grade with the final being 25%. Beware, the math he teaches is unconventional, but entirely accurate. If you want a good grade in his class, just retake the quizzes as many times as you want.
Professor Kasiukov's teaching style can take some getting used to, but if you engage with it, the class becomes much more manageable. Utilize Unstuck study and office hours - they're invaluable for staying on top of the material.
Great Professor! The way he explained complex concepts made everything much easier to understand. Genuinely cared about their students success. He made the class enjoyable and engaging. I highly recommend taking any course him.
GO TO THE BOARD FOR THE POINTS!!!!! I took him for MAT 129 which is the new precalc class, but that wasn't an option to choose. All of the pop quizzes are open book. Take notes of everything and pay attention. I failed the final but still got a B+ in the course bc of my quiz grade, and the extra points from the board gave me a 75/75 quiz average.
I took him for precalculus and i gotta tell you, he is the best. He makes everything easier and more understandable. He encourages you to participate and constantly asks students if they understand everything. I would definitely recommend professor Kasiukov to any student.
This guy is so smart sometimes its hard to follow him. He gives pop quizzes but lets you retake them. No exams. If you get 100 on all the quizzes you have a C+ when sitting for the final and the final can only count towards your grade not against it. if you take notes and show up youll be fine. I really enjoyed him. Hes way better than anyone else
amazing ,and helped me get a better grade after the final take himmmm
Excellent professor. Very nice and informative, offers to work with students individually if needed. Keeps you engaged and involved in a fun way. Encouraging with his students and always happy. Clear lectures with all notes online. Would highly recommend this professor!
Absolutely great professor! He cares about the students and really wants you to pass.Go to his office hours and he will explain quizzes that you failed and allow you to re-take them. Wonderful professor and great guy.
one of the best professors i've had. he always made sure you're understanding the material and always willing to help students pass. I will say, retake the quizzes as many times as you need to get a perfect grade cause that will help you pass the class if you didn't do well on the final. overall, he's a great guy and would highly recommend.
Seriously, awesome dude. I took his class for mathematics of health science and he made it very easy for the class to understand and made sure everyone understood it. The final was relatively easy and it was open notes. On top of that he prepared us through ally. I also loved talking with him after class about questions I was curious about in h
had Professor Kasiukov for mathematic reasoning. he makes sure you're understanding the material and always wants you to pass. retake the quizzes as many times as you can because that will help you pass the class if you didnt do well on the final.
Take this class if you are a math whiz. The man is a genius. Take this class if you need help. He truly cares and wants you to pass. He will spend his time helping you. Professor Kasiukov is the textbook definition of a great professor. He really is a great guy and again, he actually cares about his students.
If you are a math whiz, take his class. He is a genius. If you need help in math, take his class. The professor is kind, sincere, and will spend all the time you need to help you excel in his class. I wish I could take every course with him. He is the best professor at SCCC imo.
Professor clearly has a passion and love for higher-level math, and made it easy to pass with at least a C. He was great all-around except I would recommend he take a little more time explaining step-by-step how to solve problems, and to include word problems instead of just explaining the conceptual side of things.
Professor Kasiukov is a very gentle and kind man who wants you to pass his class and is determined to make you pass and understand the material even if he has to use his chalk board sticks as an example of the problem. Overall he is a good professor so don't hesitate in asking for help because he will help you.
He's a fair grader and doesn't expect more than what he actually teaches. Being able to retake quizzes for a higher grade, however many times you need, is a genuine blessing, especially with the impact they have on your grade. If you raise your hand with a question, he won't move on until you get it; he is very caring.
Professor Kasiukov is a great person—hilarious, caring, and respectful—but his teaching style can be challenging. His Russian accent can be easy to understand, but be prepared for pop quizzes, as he often asks questions in class. He only grades a few things, mainly the final exam and quizzes.
