Prof Korogodsky is overall a nice guy, but I would never recommend taking his classes. His lectures are all over the place, with random information that is just never talked about again or tested on. He clearly knows his IT stuff well, but as a teacher, I received absolutely no benefit from taking his class and only continued to struggle.
If you want to learn and/or get a good grade, avoid this professor. He teaches to boost his own ego, not to help students learn. The course material isn't hard by any means, yet it's quite hard to get a good grade on anything. He wants to teach the class that nobody does well in, evidenced by exams graded largely on semantics not understanding.
Rude. Dumb. Bald. Worst prof at miami
Awful, too critical is fake nice to the students and is just rude plain and simple rude undoubtedly gets off on the little power he has, grades hard too worst of both worlds
Lots of long lectures and very harsh grader. Very difficult to communicate and work with. Would not recommend
This professor is a very smart and well-educated person. However, he creates unrealistic expectations for students when it comes to group projects and exams. He also discourages students giving any input or questioning his methods. I would definitely avoid this professor at all costs.
This professor has such unrealistic standards for his students. The group projects have nothing to do with the class they are just to help with his ego. Avoid taking him.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The worst professor I had at UM. Extremely disrespectful towards students and loves to embarrass people during their presentations in front of the class. Gives way more work than the other professors.
first group presentation is graded very heavily. Expects you to know every little detail when presenting ur slide. I suggest sharing ur presentation twice before ur date. Strict with attendance if everyone starts sharing the code. A lot of people dislike him because he likes to criticize people's presentations. I don't suggest taking his class
He does not care about his students at all. He will belittle you in front of your peers till you feel worthless. All he cares about is yelling at you for no reason. Sad how so many of the professors in the business tech department are horrible. Anything you say in his class will not be right as long as he teaches.
he loves to belittle students. sometimes he has a funny side, but 99% of the times I felt miserable and terrified of him. his group projects have unrealistic expectations, he is never satisfied with anything you present or do. there was not a single person in the class who met up to his standards.
Comes off as rude but is funny and nice if you get to know him. Despite kind of liking him as a person, trust me, DON'T take his class. Mostly group work. BY FAR hardest class I have ever taken in my life. Was an A student w/ 4.0 gpa but got a B. It was so hard and I expected to do even worse. Devoted most of my time to his class. Avoid it.
Usually, I say to take these ratings with a grain of salt, but every rating of this professor is absolutely accurate and true. I did end his class with an A, but that was definitely not expected and it was not without borderline trauma. He belittles students, and worse than that, I genuinely don't think I learned anything valuable from his class.
Professor K, is a nice guy, the class material is not hard at all, tests are memorization heavy but everything can be found on the slides. He is tough with the presentations and group projects, get a good team and prepare well, tests are super easy! All multiple choice.. I would choose another Professor but if youre stuck with him its not bad
Prof Korogodsky is straight-up mean. He constantly nit-picks every part of your group projects, will ask you questions in the middle of your presentation and will make you sit down mid-presentation if he doesn't like your answer. Don't bother trying to get away with someone signing you in cause he'll catch you.
Worst teacher I've ever had, hands down. The dude is just plain rude to students and doesn't seem to actually care at all about teaching the class. UM should be ashamed of themselves for offering this fool employment. He belongs in a kindergarten classroom (as a student) because all he does is act like a child.
Doesn't care if you succeed.
This individual should be relived of their profession in any future academic setting.
Very bad professor. Loves the tiny bit of power that has and is very disrespectful towards students. Impossible to talk to and if you try to approach him he will essentially tell you to kick rocks. Also gives impossibly hard group presentations that he will interrupt you during to nit pick. Do not take him if you have the option.
BTE is required so there's almost no way around him but if you can take another teacher. Gives group cases that have nothing to do with class and grades them hard. He almost wants to fail some students. The course material is boring and korogodsky doesn't help. He is usually just making everyone feel awkward when he calls people out in class.
Very mean and intimidating. You do 2 cases that he grades harshly, 2 exams and a final project. No point in trying to talk to him he'll just say to come during office hours. He will either not be there or be very dismissive when you arrive. Does not want you to succeed. Take someone else
Whatever good ratings on here for him are fake ones written by him. Dude sucks, avoid
Professor Korogodsky is tough but super fair. As long as you put in the work and pay attention you can manage a B with no issues. He is eager to teach and answer questions as long as you are eager to learn. His tests were a little bit difficult, but his projects are fun.
Prof K is tough. He can be very blunt and mean. On the other hand, you might get lucky, and he will respect you. It really is a gamble. Take another professor if you can. The case studies aren't that bad. It is really just him that is bad. But as a person, he does seem to care, just expresses this is an odd way.
He is a tough teacher, but if you work hard and get on his good side- you're good.
He's honestly not bad as all these reviews are making him out to seem. I actually liked him. Group projects are time consuming but if you follow his framework and listen to his preferences you will do fine. Definitely not an easy A. But a B is not too difficult to get. Make sure u dont forget to put the attendance code when you get to class.
Honestly, all the reviews on here are a bit of an exaggeration. For the team projects and presentations: as long as you know what you're presenting and you're not reading off of the slide, he won't criticize you. I wont lie, though, this class was hard and time consuming, but not the worse thing on earth.
prof is really interested in the material. He is just very strict and has very specific rules that if you don't follow he makes a fool out of you. His class is definitely the hardest BTE210 class compared to the other classes. We had to do case studies (3+ hours a day) when other classes just had to present simple power points like "what is apple."
Korogodsky does not care if you succeed in the slightest. The team cases don't have to do with the course material, are graded harshly and he jumps in out of nowhere to interrupt. He clearly knows his technology because he catches students sharing attendance codes and I have seen many bad reviews disappear from this website... avoid if possible.
Professor Korogodsky is a good professor, and underrated. If you can understand his sense of humor you will like this class. If you put the time and effort into the three group projects you will get a good grade. He prepares you to become a better public speaker. If you pay attention during the lectures you will do well on the exams.
Really not a difficult class, but he is a harsh grader if you aren't on his good side and he sometimes comes around as arrogant. However, I did appreciate him as being a strict grader since he tries to get the most out of his students and it showed in presentations and cases. Tests aren't bad.
Honestly, I don't know what a lot of other people went through during this class but it was honestly fine. He seemed to have improved a lot. Everything is pretty straight forward and easy to follow. Put in the work and be direct with questions and things will be fine. While he may not be super friendly, he will help you.
He has improved since the beginning of the semester but he is still hard to tolerate. The first half of the course is very lecture heavy, and then the entire second part of the semester is a large group project. You probably have to take this course, so my advice is to study his slides before an exam, do well on the projects, and you will be fine.
What I liked about his class was he was very straightforward about grading and was clear about the material that was on the midterms and final. There are no surprises and his expectations are very clear. He is funny and very engaging in class. Before taking him, I only heard bad things but he was my favorite professor this semester.
Alright, not sure why this professor has so many bad ratings. This class was very straightforward, no homework, tests are not hard at all, and he is super chill. Like I don't know why people hate on him. This was easily my favorite class of the semester because of the content and teacher. if you want a easy and straightforward class, take him.
Not as bad as the reviews set him out to be. There are three exams, one group project and one presentation throughout the semester. Attendance is mandatory and he tells what will be on the exams. The exams are tough but if you study you can do well on them. He is always accessible outside of the classroom.
very lazy and doesn't want to say anything more to you.i didn't pay so much tuition to see him impatient. He also discriminates against race. After I submitted my paper, he directly deducted me 10 points because I wrote it on draft paper, but itsdraft!!?He said there was a prompt on the bb, but not.His attitude and behavior are blatant discrimination
IDK why the reviews are so bad, he is super straightforward and will meet any time with you out of class. Group project is a tough one but he tells you everything that is on exams. Overall be humble and he will respect you
Bald.
Not sure why the ratings are bad. Take Professor K for BTE 210. He tells you first day all the tests will be from the slides, so they are super straightforward and easy to do well on. The group project is a lot, but choose wisely and you'll be fine. As long as you're engaging and not ready off the slide for presentations, 10/10.
Amazing professor, concerned about why he has so many bad ratings when this class could not be more straightforward. Slides contain everything you need to know for exams and there is no busy work.
Class of memorization and then one big group project. No homework but attendance taken every day and he notices if people say they are there but are not. Could care less how the students do and seems like he cant give out a good grade. He has a secret rubric that he does not share or vocalize. Doesn't show for office hours.
DO NOT TAKE.
exams are easy, individual and group presentation
Don't take this professor, he has the biggest ego and will take off points for the smallest reasons. Very cocky and you need to study everything for all the tests. Have fun.
Gets you ready for the future ahead!
He's a great professor, incredibly smart and challenging. I won't recommend him if you are not ready to put on the work and give your all to the class. His exam are heavily memory based and you have tons of material to study for each exam. I enjoy the class because it challenged me to work for my grade but it's not someone I would recommend to all
Professor Korogodsky is not only the worst professor I've had at the University of Miami, but the worst educator I have ever had. His attitude and outlook as a professor deviates tremendously from any other professor at the Univeristy of Miami, as he simply does not care about his students. He is extremely unaccommodating and frankly a rude person.
the class is not very hard if you study. He is not the nicest person but as long as you aren't a soft snowflake he's actually kinda funny. But if you a person who can't handle jokes or someone being tough on you, look elsewhere. Tests are straightforward and memory based
Prof K. is a great professor -- funny, blunt, and lots of real-world advice. All the tests are straight from the slides and if you are good at memorization, this class won't be that hard for you. Very interesting guy, would definitely take this class again.
Definitely my least favorite professor at my Miami so far. Went to his office hours just for him to not be there, then tells me that he isn't available at the time that he posted on the syllabus, only 7-8AM. Not a nice guy at all, lectures are boring. He is open to give feedback but comes off apathetic.
Prof. K is the goat. He is straightforward and his class is very easy to follow. I've noticed that many people seem to say that he is rude but that was not my experience with him. He was actually one of the most merciful professors I had this semester. 10/10 would take him again.
This professor makes it extremely hard to get the desired grade you want in this class. Between his extreme grading and lack of grades in the book, getting 2 points off on a test could make the difference between an A and a B. Good luck! Aside from that, he does know what he's talking about and makes the material engaging. Not a bad guy.
Do not recommend this professor because of the way he treats his students and could care less about you when you come to office hours. Class material is not hard but the final grade consists of just 100 points total so every point counts..
This professor is very knowledgeable and makes the class easygoing. The workload is light because he prefers to keep assignments minimal, which is great if you want a low-stress course. Exams are multiple-choice, and the overall content isn't overly challenging, so don't expect to dive too deeply into the subject.
Honestly the worst class I've ever taken. He is the most stubborn person ever. He is like a child and should not be allowed to grade the way he does. Even after speaking with him there is no change. Very disrespectful towards you one on one. Thinks he is better than you for no reason. Do not take ever he will ruin your GPA
This guy is terrible. Should be your last choice of a BTE professor. Expects you to be a professional from the start of class.
This guy is the worst professor I've ever had at the U. Always in a bad mood. Strict grader is an understatement.
This guy might be the most stubborn and irritating teacher I have ever met. I submitted my individual project as a pdf instead of a google slides, and he took 20% off my grade, instead of trying to help me out - which is what professors should do. He hates his students and tries to make your lives worst. I would never take him for anything again.
The course material is interesting and obviously useful, however, Prof. K's attitude towards and treatment of students causes them to disengage. He is very knowledgable regarding the subject that he teaches, but he should absolutely not be an educator. He is incredibly rude, stubborn, and conveys a sense of superiority. Avoid his class, if you can.
Very grumpy dude. Awful tests got a 60 on both no extra credit awful boring lectures he also has a lawsuit look it up korogodsky v UNITED STATES!!!!! aparently he imbezzled 10 million dollars. Group project was good wouldnt complain there are two presentations but not bad but participation does matter and he does pay attention.
He is not the nicest person, but I think he is misunderstood. If you are sensitive, do not take his class. His tests are very straightforward, if you study the day before you will get an A. The group project was also fun. He is kinda harsh at times but as long as you follow everything correctly, it is not a bad class.
This class is really easy in regard to workload and pretty easy multiple choice tests. If you study the slides and make flash cards, you will get an A. However, the professor is really stubborn, disengaging, and does not care about the students. He really does not want to help students and it shows. He is very knowledgable but not a good teacher.
I was nervous about the class from his rating but I can confidently say I am glad I took his class. Although he can be very blunt, you will learn a lot in his class. 75% of the class is just lectures but the last 3 weeks is the group project. He doesn't grade off many things but exams are straight off the PowerPoint. I would take him again.
Avoid at all costs. Heavily biased and grades based on how much he likes a student. Got a decent grade in the class, but he clearly does not care about his students.
Harsh grader for no reason. He thinks that he is a god and you are his disciples. I couldn't have done anything more in this class and I end with a B+. Good luck if you want an A haha
Awful attitude towards students, misleading questions on exams, you name it. This guy checks all of such negative boxes. Avoid him and his classes at all costs; take the 8AM with another professor if you have no other option. Him defrauding a Chernobyl victims charity of $2 million certainly checks out.
Dude hates his students, besides the girls in the class, he flirts with them the entire time.
This Professor has very boring lectures, but his tests are pretty straightforward. Beware that he has a hidden rubric for grading individual and group projects. Not a great professor, but it's not hard.
He tries to be overly fair about grading, but it usually ends up backfiring. I would recommend anyone else for 210
Two 20-question exams and a 50-question final—all MC/true-false and based on slides. He often copies questions exactly, so make flashcards and memorize. Presentations are easy (for individual presentation focus on technology; for group project try to excel and put the effort because it is very easy). Do not have to participate but recommended.
Make sure you do not read off the slides for any presentation and just cram the night before for exams. You cannot mess anything up in this class otherwise it is impossible to get an A because there are such few assignments in the book (which is a pro and a con).
HORRIBLE SOOOO INCONSIDERATE NEVER ROUNDED UP EVENTHOUGH IT WAS BARELY ANYTHING AND IS THE WORST POSSIBLE TEACHER EVER. NEVER EVER TAKE HIM
The tests are super confusing, and he tries to trick you on them. There isn't much homework, and he tests on everything he covers in his slides. The group projects are annoying, and he graded my individual project harshly for no reason. He wont round your grade up and attendance is mandatory.
It is graded by so few things and he rounds nothing up, its hard to get an A bc of the grading scale so you have to do almost perfect/90%+ on everything.
DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER NOT TO TAKE THIS CLASS! Korogodsky finds a way to make everything more stressful than it needs to be. He loves making people's lives hard. He will tell you to call the "tech desk" or to "look it up after class" instead of actually doing his job. Oh, and forget about office hours, they're on Friday at 6 am. Guys, a joke.
BTE210 is a easy class with simple content, but Alexander Korogodsky is a mean professor. Being a professor is just a job for him.
This class is not that great. The tests are multiple choice, but the choices are all very similar, you have to have the wording memorized from the slideshows to know which is right. The group project can destroy your grade, so make sure you're working with the right people, because its graded as a group. You don't learn much.
Not really that hard of a course, just study the information given for an hour or two before exams, and you'll do fine. The group project is decently long, so as long as your group doesn't procrastinate it isn't overwhelming
Weird guy and the exams are strange and make no sense. I would not take this class unless you want you grade to be up to luck
Do not recommend taking him. The content is so easy, but he writes his exams to try and trick you. If you do bad on the exams, the group project and individual project can definitely help your grade, but he takes off for the slightest thing. For a required class that everyone has to take with relatively easy content, he takes it way too serious.
Youll start like "oh he doesnt seem bad idk why his reviews are so bad" trust me youll find out. I knew all the content before i took the course yet his exams are like translating the Bible into pig latin. hes unclear with expectations. hes also so on and off. if hes happy in class youll do well on wtv otherwise forget it. !!AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Very rude professor who does not care about his students wellbeing and will speak to you disrespectfully. Mandatory attendance but all you do is listen to him speak. Exams are all memorization but not of the content and rather how he worded it. Extremely boring lectures and miserable guy. Somehow a 94 in the class makes an A- with the curve.
Changes things very abruptly and tests teach memorization and not critical thinking skills. I previously gave him a good review because I got an A from him but recently changed my mind about him because he is just very unreliable and the class always depends on his mood.
He's fine I guess. If you take the class you'll survive, but I don't recommend. His exam questions are unclear and teach memorization and not actual retention or application of the material. He's rude, and pulls grades out of nowhere. An A starts at a 95. Tests are hard, but the projects are easy. Get points where you can.
Class participation: 10% / Individual presentation: 10% / Exam 1: 15% / Exam 2: 15% / Final Exam: 30% / Team Projection : 20% / Extra credit (optional) : 5% / the only thing you are tested on are the slides gone over in class which are all on canvas / all questions on tests are multiple choice / very straightforward teacher /
This professor is rude, passive-aggressive, and very difficult to communicate with. If you have a strong heart, go ahead and take his class.
The class itself wasn't too difficult, he's just so annoying. I did put in a good amount of time studying for his exams, which was not fun bc who cares abt cloud computing??? If u pay attention in class its def easier to study. With that being said, he is insufferable. So unclear with what he wants and thinks ur life needs to revolve around him.
NEVER TAKE HIS CLASS
NEVER TAKE HIS CLASS. He doesn't care about the students at all and grading is completely arbitrary
Do not take
