Great teacher, energetic, vibrant, full of energy. The class helped me to become better at public speaking. thumbs up! Take him.
Really fun and energetic. I was dreading this class but he definitely helped me gain confidence about speaking in public. Definitely take him!
Good teacher. He is very energetic, fun loving and has vast knowledge about what he teaches. You'll gain confidence in public speaking!
He really loves what he is teaching. You will learn alot about proper debate and speech from him. Clearly explains the subject in a very concise manner. Again, he is really energetic and it makes the class fun. Took the summer class, easy A.
very good at everything iif you know what i mean
Debate - Great class, he makes it fun and enjoyable, not a chore. Great exercises in groups, which takes the heat off individual speaking. Very fun class to take.
wow..mr kramer is a great teacher..ez class with 3 speeches and 3 exercises..hez very lively and very funny..he njoyz what hes teaching, and this makes the class more fun..i definately reccomend this class
Alex is a really nice guy. He sets the foundation on how you should go about saying your speech, and leaves you to your own devices. An easy grader as long as you try. The assignments are not difficult either. I highly recommend this teacher.
Very cool teacher. I like his teachings--very funny and energetic. He's very helpful if you have troubles in your class. take his speech class if you have to.
OMG!!! this guy is the biggest geek ever...he's THE EASIEST teacher though and you can not show up for weeks or do anything and still get an A. It is really boring however...make sure you are not afraid of public speeking.
Alex is a great teacher. He is very understanding of the every day life of the college student. He is very clear and straight forward. I suggest his class above all other speech teachers. Take this class and every other class he might teach!
He's such a DORK! haha Very funny guy, speaks at a rate of 85344893 MPH haha but fun class. Also a very understanding guy, not a tough grader either so take him.
Damm look at all these haters...alex is not a geek...hes the man.....his class is cool....good enviorment, 2 test, pop quizzes here and ther. But overall, the class is helpful...so if u think u got what it takes to debate dont b scerd
The best! Everything you want in an instructor and more. Do what you can to get in his class :)
All I can say is hottie
man this guy is the****. he can make class fun again. very flexible guy that cares for his students. he'll get try to get the know the student individually not as students of de anza. man don't pass him up for communications.
VERY GOOD Teacher, i think he is one of the best teachers i had all quarter. he is extremely helpful and friendly to his students. He tries to get to know each student and make the work easier.
Excellent teacher, very clear open to anything!
Very good teacher, relates to students exceptionally well. Not a very tough grader. Not very hard class but not full on easy, still takes effort. Always on time. Gives a few minute breaks in class. Typically lets the class out early too. I suggest taking him.
The prof was just great.Alex is very helpful and a very easy grader. Just show up for the class everyday and do your work, you get your A. Overall, the class if fun and very easy. He is an excellent prof and doesn't expect too much out of students. Take him if you want to learn and have fun & get an easy A.
yes, he's funny. yes, he's bald. and yes he's laid back. He knows his stuff and i credit him for that. Only problem though is his class is way too easy. Students don't bother to study or read because there is no constant constraint.
True, it's not difficult to get a good grade. But, this class is an awesome intro to debate. You'll learn as much as the effort you put into it. Alex is an awesome and helpful teacher. Very fun class. be sure not to miss it.
great class!! alex is good at what he does!!
Even if this is not your area of study, this is a great introductory course where you will feel comfortable speaking and debating. Alex is passionate about debate and quite easy going and understanding. No need to buy the book, really. His tests are easy and questions come straight from his lectures. Great class to knock out your GEs.
Oh MY! I LOVE ALEX!!! He is DEFINATELY one of the BEST professors around. So energatic, funny, nice, easy-going, enthusastic...the list can go on and on...Debate sounds threathening? Don't worry, you will improve by the end of the quarter and earn an A as the same time! Alex lets students to learn in a fun and hands on way. HIGHLY RECOMMANDED!!!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM! He made the class a very comfortable environment. There are 3 speeches, 2 tests, and 2 debates. His instructions are very clear, and he makes it easy for us to develop our speeches. And getting up there to do your speech turns out to be very fun. The class is just fun to go to.
The coolest guy, really laid back, and very helpfull, you will become a 100% better speaker by taking ANY of his classes.
this guys is kewl... he's the easiet teacher i've ever taken in de anza... he makes lectures really interesting.. and he'll give you some life stories... like when he got pulled over by a cop cuz he was going too fast on a bike... just take this guy.. you won't regret it!
Alex's class is easy, but you will still learn so much from him. He is very funny, he made me want to go to school.
Absolutely the best prof at de anza. i transfered to sacramento state and is currently a comms major. i saved spch 1 for the summer session because i had to take it with alex! The best teacher by far and his classes are fun, engaging, and you also leave with something new everyday! the only prof that can relate to me, Highly recommended! ALEX U ROC
First of all..Let me just say, Alex is one of the Hottest teachers on De Anza campus!!! Seriously.... ! He's a fun teacher that makes everyone in class feel comfortable or feel they can express their opinions too.. Just a great class .
omg i love the guy he's such a great teacher and actually seems to like his job hes a easy grader. suprisingly i got an A even though i didnt read and did horrible on the small quizzes. Just be there and make an effort, plus I promise you won't be bored
makes class interesting and interactive
I wish Alex would teach other professor how to teach!!! He is the most entertaining and engaging professor I have learned from. This class is fun, but does require group work since it has the elements of debate.
Alex is fun, but he is a little unorganized and too obsessed with global warming (2/3 of class was based on that). Otherwise, fun class and easy A.
Lots of global warming, he's into that, he might change it to health issues soon though; Awesome class, really awesome professor, really knows how to be friendly and teach you with vigor. Everyone gets a good grade guaranteed because he doesn't let you get a bad grade. thanks alex
AWESOME teacher. Class never feels long or boring. He tries to make class as interesting as possible. Pretty easy grader on the speeches as long as you try hard. Can ramble a bit, but it's interesting so it doesn't matter. I would highly recommend taking this class.
He's one of my favorite teachers at De Anza. He's really funny and you always feel comfortable. He's so nice! If only all teachers were like him, I'd show up everyday haha
he is very funny and easy going and his speech topics are interesting...you should take him.........
Alex was great. He's not a stickler when it comes to grades. Just show up (on speech days) and have SOMETHING to say. A few simple quizzez and exams throughout the quarter, which were all painfully easy. He's fun and funny and actually very helpful when it comes to helping students get over public speaking anxieties.
Alex is a very cool guy. Show up, do the work and show effort and you'll for sure get an A. I hate public speaking, but this was almost fun near the end!
Alex is a great teacher. He is extremely clear on what he expects. His grading rubric is fair. Alex is entertaining, and being a speech teacher he doesn't use a monotone voice that makes you want to sleep. Overall, I definitely recommend him.
Everyone gets A or A+, just do your work and put effort, great for bus admin majors, yea yea yea yea
Hot and Helpful
all around awesome guy who is knowledgeable and helpful in making you improve as a speaker, and don't miss out on his other courses if you need to take more speech classes
He is a very nice and understanding guy. Tries to crack jokes but he doesn't really get much of a response because his jokes are pretty old-school and we just don't understand. Lame funny :) Very talkative and tries to keep everyone intrigued and participating. Book isn't really necessary but is helpful.
easy class, easy A. had no problems communicating with the man whatsoever. you really just have to put in some effort into this class. make sure you attend classes otherwise you will miss out on certain skills. review his comments and improve on that and you'll get at A. teeny weeny bit of effort will do (:
awesome teacher! super understanding and easy to understand. Put some effort in and you should be able to pull an A. book isn't too necessary. Loves to talk and crack jokes. Also, took him for another speech class since he was such a great teacher.
This guy is great, easy and you actually learn something too! This guy can go on and on talking but his stories are interesting. You get to leave early in that class usually, it's hella chill.
This professor has a very down to earth kind of approach along with being intellectual. Alex has an excellent sense of humor that really helps the students fell relaxed when preparing for the assignments. Good choice in literature which is straight forward and the topics were intriguing.
Good teacher, definitely recommend!
I FREAKING LOVE HIM. HE'S SO HOT. EASY, DECENT CLASS :)
He is very professional and funny. He is extremely easy AND helpful at the same time. Will recommend.
Great teacher. Lectures are interesting and he usually cracks jokes. Couple quizzes during the quarter and a take home final.
PRACTICE AND AND EDIT your speeches. Some of his opinions are audience biased. I sent him a text saying i was sick and i might not be in class, he didn't reply so i went anyway, only to find out he read the text to the class as a joke... Took it a little hard, but if hes not making fun of you hes pretty funny. easy class. recommended.
Funny guy. Very opinionated. Knows the craft of speaking. Debate coach. Relates well with students. Late on getting tests back (speech grades). Not many quizzes. Just three major speeches and an essay (take home) for the final. Overall, TAKE THIS CLASS! I am a much better researcher and debater because of Alex.
Great class very good teacher! He really explains things well and the class is easy to follow. Great course to take.
Take his class! He makes the class pretty interesting and is not a boring teacher. Kramer is clear on what he wants and helps you out when there are questions. He does let you out a bit early just so you don't end up in that parking lot traffic. Great class to take!
Good teacher. Will take again/10
Currently in his summer class & i really enjoy it! The work isn't hard and its all do-able. Theres about 5 speeches 1 midterm a final. there was 1 quiz on the reading.
He was a really clear and helpful teacher, & i find this really helpful on rate my professor as well that he will only take about 3 people on a waitlist. so good luck. His work is easy and its not bad. I actually enjoyed his class and wanted to come.
LOVE HIM. He's funny, knowledgeable, and attentive so it makes you feel less nervous. Dreaded taking Speech but he made it fun and manageable. Overall an easy class. A few random easy quizzes on the reading. Gives positive feedback and helpful critiques. Tends to digress a lot, but you will like this class.
Used a ton of the textbook... Long lectures. Huge midterm and was a tough grader.
Great person but gives terrible exams, they count for a big chunk of your grade. Make sure you take notes all quarter!!! And half of the questions are obscure textbook ones.
Mandatory attendance, roll at the beginning of each class. Take really detailed notes for the exams.
Funny and enthusiastic about speech! Enjoyed every minute of his classes
Pretty tough, make sure that if you miss a class to really read the texbook closely. Worked really hard and got a B-
Alex is a great speaker and has a lot of experience with this type of communication. I found he was very straight forward. Classes were interesting, especially when we had class discussions. If you stay on top of your readings, papers, speeches, etc you will do fine. I learned a lot of valuable knowledge on how to support my argument.
Although I'm not very fond of speech, he made the class pretty fun. The class is easy, and I always spent the night before preparing for the speeches. He is a great teacher that isn't afraid to whats on his mind. Take him!
Fair, fun teacher. Understands that public speaking is scary for most. Gives honest feedback on debates but is a compassionate grader. Try to think on your feet during the debate and he will give you a good grade. Looks for effort, not perfection. He realizes it's just an introductory class.
I totally recommend him! He is funny, helpful, and a lot of fun. He understands how difficult it is speak in front of a large audience.
i enjoyed his class so much because it was pretty easy an interesting. there's 1 presentation, 1 research paper and 1 group project to do. also, 2 exams and 2 small quiz. he gives very little HW, but expects everything to be typed. Alex has a flexible deadline, so if you need to work further on something, just talk to him and he will help you!
He's truly hilarious. He always makes me want to go to his class. Mid-term is easy if you read the book carefully. He gives specific feed-backs to all of your speeches, which help you improve a lot. Absolutely recommended to take.
Typically lets us out a good 10-20 minutes early, which is nice. Clear instructions, and the bar isn't set too high (for your speech performances). Quizzes on the book can be passed with barely reading (they're pretty much common sense).
He's horrible!! His class is oppressive, and he always dismissed our opinions , and just says that because he's the teacher, he knows everything! Refuses to helpcommunicate despite a communication teacher.
Best teacher at De Anza hands down!! Super funny and nice. Makes the class interesting and is extremely clear regarding assignments!!
Very funny man but his lectures are more like his life storyrants but it's very entertaining. Assignments and speeches were really clear and concise so it's nothing too hard as long as you do the assignment itself. Participation counts so you should attend the class. Great professor, I recommend taking him for public speech.
Kramer is a cool guy. He makes his class fun. The class is easy to pass if you show up to class
He is funny and his class is fun. You can get good grades by following the specific method that he asks for and he is very clear about what he wants you to do and learn. My overall experience in his class was excellently memorable and I don't seem to forget what I learned in this class anytime soon.
He helps you challenge the current events and has excellent credentials to give you practice. I would get nervous for speeches/debates but his eye contact and connection to your topics/points would make them less nerve wrecking. I bombed the midterm, make sure to do the readings and study the discussions from class.
Kramer is a great teacher. I took his Speech 1 class during summer and had a lot of fun. Expect to do at least 5 speeches, including a research project. The tests/quizzes are really easy, just make sure to pay attention in class.
Very fun teacher, keeps the lectures related to current events and current issues. He forces you to think about topics more in depth and question the bias in whatever argument you're reading. 2 pop quizzes, he offered a study guide for the midterm and final. Final presentation at the end as a group, so thats iffy. Would take again, learned a lot!
Hi, He is one of the best professor in De Anza college. He keeps the lecture fun and easy to follow. Not hard to get an A in his class, but get ready for some hard work and a lot of learning. I would take him again whenever I have a chance.
You'll leave his class with speaking anxiety. I really dont understand why he has such high rating. He is a terrible teacher. He only talks about himself and tries to be funny, he uses the F word way too much, and thinks it makes him cool. He wants to come across as a super chill dude and easy A professor, but he is anyting but that. DONT TAKE!
Dude Kramer is the man. He's an exceptional public speaker and will happily debate you on any subject known to man. Super intelligent, witty, down to earth, and really encourages his students to voice their opinions in a structured format. I wasn't afraid to do my speeches because of how comfortable the class setting was. Best class i've ever taken
He's the type of teacher who spends 10-20 minutes on a slide of PowerPoint. Tells us one time to read the text and weeks later, gives us a pop quiz. Tries to be funny but he's ok. Wish I took another professor though.
He is a nice professor. Make sure you come to class, put in effort and you will pass.
He is really easy. He is genuine and effervescent. His is always chill and sometimes lets you out early. He is more picky on your speech outline than you actual speech. I would recommend him for those who need help in public speaking.
I really enjoyed taking this class. He is really funny and creates a great environment for when you actually have to present your speech. He grades more harshly on your outline than the actual speech, but other than that the class is pretty easy. Highly recommend taking him. Also, 99% of the time he lets you out early.
Alex is awesome! I took him for Speech 8 and 9 and I got an A in both classes. Rare for him to give hw or reading. Just show up, be attentive, and do your work.
Really great speech teacher. Doesn't go out of his way to make the class super hard, its easy and you learn a lot of useful information. I really enjoyed it. There's no final but a final debate which is easy if you have a good partner and prepare well. Overall great class.
Super easy GE class. He makes you feel comfortable and hes a really interesting person. Classes are pretty boring but it's an easy A if you do the work. There is 5 speeches total, topics are okay, and speeches gradually increase in time throughout the quarter. You get note cards though. Also 3 easy quizzes on Catalyst and mini self reflections.
Pretty laid-back, funny professor. Go to class, do the very easy, very little amount of assignments, and write good speech outlines.
You need to take at least one of his class. I've taken both SPCH 1 and SPCH 8. He's absolutely amazing. You'll learn A LOT
Professor Kramer is so easy to the point where you think his class is a joke. To be honest, I didn't learn much from his class, and his instructions were never specific.
first thing first, DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT!!!BUY THE BOOK DONT BUY IT, you won't need it; huge waste of money. i was lucky enough to rent it, but it was still a waste of money. I haven't even opened it at all. Everything can be found online. Lectures can be long and boring but I mean there are useful info in them overall the class is SUPER EASY
Alex is awesome! He is a down to earth professor who is so brutally honest about the world. He's like the best friend who will tell you when you don't look good so you can change before going out. Debates are easy, speeches are easy, if you love public speaking then you will love this class. Gives great advice as well!
I love Professor Kramer! He is so insightful and well-educated so you learn more than just how to give a speech in his class from his lectures. The class itself is very to the point and will easily fit into any class schedule -- it is nothing to stress over! Very funny guy and chill class.
Alex is a swell guy! This is an ideal class for beginning speakers and those who want to knock out the speech requirement. There are 5 speeches, a couple of reflections, and online quizzes plus an extra credit reflection at the end. He's more critical/ a stickler in your outline than the actual speech delivery. EASY A class. Just don't ditch.
I'm not a public speaker and was much less interested in taking it as a required class, but Kramer made it really enjoyable. My strengths are in English and it's my first language, so this may only apply to some, but as long as you practice your speech a few times before class or the night before, you should expect to do well in the class.
He gives everyone 100% for giving a speech on topic. On the outline, he might take 1 point off for formatting it wrong, but that's still a 9/10. Online quizzes are super easy. All in all, he's a really lax professor, and the class is fun.
Kramer is really relaxed and an easy grader. It's a fun/easy class, and you'll get practice with public speaking. He gives you speech prompts, like popular culture, but very few guidelines, so you basically get to talk about whatever you want, which is pretty fun. How many chances will you have in college to do that?
Professor Kramer doesn't give exams, but he gives online quizzes which are moderately challenging. If you miss an assignment or two, you can make it up with a 15-pt extra credit assignment at the end. He grades speeches leniently. You don't have to be a great public speaker to get an A in the class.
Normally I wait until I finish the quarter to give my feedback. But I cannot wait Alex, he is the second best teacher I meet at De Anza. I am a second language learner and always stress myself when I need to do presentations. In his class I have gain confidence and learn strategies that are strongly valuable. Thank you Mr. K.
Alex Krammer is by far the best professor at De Anza! He is there to give you great feedback in order to make you a better public speaker. Before taking his class I was extremely shy to talk in front of a crowd of people, however, by the end of the quarter I gained a lot of confidence!
Alex is a really relaxed and easy professor. Great class to take summer out of high school. Easy A. Bonus tip, if you want to get 100 percents on the outline, email it to him before your presentation.
Speaking has gotten a lot easier for me! There are some more difficult online quizzes that require some critical thinking & research, but it's easy to get an A or B. For the speeches he is very easygoing. You get graded for many things so even if you do poorly on the delivery of your speech you can make it up through your outline, visual aides, etc
Really cool teacher, one of the most engaging teachers ive had at DA, hes very broad on what you can have your speech on and the progression between speeches is good. On days he just lectures its a bit slow but hes really passionate about teaching speaking. Youll def get better at public speaking and presenting. DO NOT BUY BOOKS, YOU DONT NEED IT
Kramer is one of the best professors at De Anza. If you want to take it for credits or for fun, Kramer makes you want to actually improve your speech while having fun in the class as well. Very relaxed class with a funny, respectful, and interesting professor. Amazing class and easy A!
Honestly if you do your work it will be a easy A. There are five speeches all on easy topics and some quizzes to do online. You get two chances on quizzes and it tells you which ones you got wrong. There should be no reason why you shouldn't pass this class.
Honestly, this was one of my favorite classes at Deanza. Kramer was so easy and understanding, and he made the class fun. There's a total of 5 speeches, and all you need to do is put in effort and try your best and you'll get an A. There's a couple online quizzes, but other than that the class with Kramer was amazing!
Nice and understanding
He is very nice teacher, easy A.
Hilarious professor, he gives clear guidelines on what he wants. Relatively easy class
Put a decent effort in writing your speech outlines, verbal speeches, and online quizzes and you'll get an A. He does not grade or focus on your speech's delivery (which is probably the most difficult thing about speeches) so it is easy to earn a good grade.
This class is easy and requires a bit of effort in writing speech outlines and if you do your speech outlines and still not get an A in this class, then you should rethink life and your education. There are 5 speeches. If you try your best, then you will get an A. If your too scared to do speeches then drop this class.
I took Alex fall quarter 2019 for public speaking and he really made the environment of the classroom comfortable and he was very caring and supportive and he focused more on the content of the speech rather than the delivery until the final 2 speeches. Honestly as someone who hated giving speeches I enjoyed it with him.
Prof Kramer makes his students feel very comfortable. There are 4 speeches in total: introduction, informative, impromptu, persuasive. As long as you get up and do your speech, I can guarantee you won't get anything lower than a B. Quizzes are all online and very easy. I definitely recommend taking Kramer. He is also very easy to communicate with.
The point of debate is to express arguments, so the first half or so of the term starts out reviewing public speaking. The book is maybe 50 pages long, super cheap, crammed with useful info. A some quizzes and HW assignments, but most of it comes in the debate projects. Awesome guy, but don't take him if you don't like profs being blunt and direct.
dont even need to buy the textbook because youre graded on speeches that you write, not textbook material. great class to make friends
Alex is awesome!!! Such an easy going class, there is a total of 5 speeches and 3 quizzes for the whole quarter. Definitely recommend this course!
Amazing professor. He knows exactly what he's doing and always lightens up the mood with funny jokes and sarcastic comments. Gives extremely good feedbacks and gives assignments that could easily boost your grade up. Definitely recommend him especially for those who fear public speaking.
As someone who hates public speaking, I genuinely enjoyed every moment in this class. Alex is a really funny guy and a phenomenal instructor. He makes sure everyone feels comfortable in class and grades more on content over delivery w/ speeches. Don't hesitate to take him! This is a LOW stress class and an easy A. I never had to worry about grades.
Majoring in communication. After taken most of the Comm class, have to say that Alex's Comm8 was one of the two Comm classes that I enjoy the most. Quizzes open book 2debates(3v3 for each topic) a few speaking exercises and discussions. The only con for the quarter I took was that grading was kind of slow. Easy class, at least an A-
He seemed kind of disconnected, he did say he wasn't really expecting this class to still be online by now. The work was really light and we basically just had quizzes about textbook chapters, some speaking exercises and 2 zoom debates we had to attend. Seemed like a cool guy the few times I actually talked to him.
Easy A, low effort class. Didn't learn anything but that's what I was aiming for going into this course.
3 Zoom speeches, 4 Canvas quizzes, and a handful of other assignments. Course is very straightforward and comprehensible. Speeches are all done over Zoom, presenting during specific timeslots signed up the week prior. Speeches are very flexible and open to student's choosing, and will present in front of up to 1-6 people. Would recommend.
he's really nice and funny! but i wouldn't recommend taking this class if you're not the best at public speaking. he also didn't post on canvas about the speech, so i forgot about the assignment till the day of. had a full on panic attack the first speech i had and had to drop the class :/ but overall he's a great professor and his energy is great.
Really chill professor. As someone with anxiety (espeically with speeches), professor kramer is very lenient in grading. Look at improvement and confidence rather than being the "perfect speech". Highly recommend if you are not comfortable. He made a class I thought was going to be painful, pretty enjoyable. No donuts on the last day though :(
Alex understands that this class is for beginners in public speaking. He is very lenient when grading speeches. Your speech grade includes your outline, content, and delivery. This means that even if your delivery is not so great, you still get the majority of the points for the speech. He was super funny and the class had a relaxed vibe. W prof.
I enjoyed Alex's class, he is really funny in class and is really friendly. Work wise there are weekly quizzes and then 3 main speeches and 2 smaller ones. Not too bad as long as you get the work started on time, overall I recommend him as a comm 1 professor.
Prof Kramer is chill n nice. 5 speeches, discussion posts, and quizzes that require brief readings from the text. Overall, this class is slow pace n work is manageable. Speech assignments are pretty ez and almost receive full pts. Highly recommend to everyone. However, be careful with speech outline, he deducts pts if u don't follow the format.
Alex is a great professor. Timely, clear, and structured. This class is a must-take for anyone who is a Comms major, or if you want to challenge yourself to learn how to debate. He does knock a few points off for technicalities but nothing surprising. Do the work, commit to practicing your debate, and it will be an easy A.
I highly recommend taking this class in person, as the instructor is one of the few teachers I truly endorse. Completing assignments in this class is low stress, making the attainment of an A grade highly achievable. If you have never taken a public speaking class, this is the professor you want to take it with.
Interesting & genuine. Fun classes. Easier to make friends in this class than other classes. A few online opennote 10-15 question quizzes based on free textbook reading. Only real work is when ur researching/preparing speeches. Super chill grader. If u do mess up a speech or miss a quiz, there was 20pt extra credit. Ended with over 100% final grade
I like this class it was nothing usual do your best on the work and make sure you give out enough information and good details on the assignments that's pretty much it.
Really nice and funny guy who is super chill. Class is not too hard. Five speeches on Zoom, most are pretty quick and some asynch quizzes and other discussions as well. Not too much work and is great for learning about public speaking
Kramer's public speaking class is pretty fun once you're no longer nervous & the required assignments are made very clear and are also relatively easy. During most of the speeches required, you can choose your own topics which makes the class more interesting. Also, he is very flexible if you were absent/sick. Overall fun class and great professor.
Public speaking may be intimidating for some and I was no different. However, it isn't that hard of a class. You have 5 speeches and they all are pretty enjoyable to research and outline. Don't sweat this class. I suck at speeches and ended up with a 101. Also, make sure to sign up for speeches early on his spreadsheet so you have more flexibility
Super chill professor. 5 speeches in total. Quizzes based on free textbook (2 tries - you can mostly just ctrl+f). He postponed the deadline for the quiz one time cause a lot of people in class forgot to do it during a holiday weekend (so super chill). Very clear instructions & grading criteria. Gives extra credit. Take him if you have the chance.
Professor Kramer, or Alex as he likes to be called, is a really chill professor and great person to learn from. The quizzes and tests have all the answers in the free online textbook he provides, and it is really not that hard to get a passing A in this class, as long as you just turn in the work.
I really worried about my comm1 class before taking it, though my friends said he was nice. When I completed the whole quarter, I found yeah, truly not bad. Take him. Good feedback, manageable workload, and less pressure.
Prof Kramer is amazing. Weekly quizzes (1-2, MCQ), which answers can be found in the free textbook provided. 5 speeches total: 2 about yourself. Though if you're looking for him to help you overcome your public speaking fear, he can't help much other than encouraging more PRACTICE.Easy on Grading!! Lectures easy, short. Fewer than 10 slides
Prof Kramer makes public speaking easy with 5 speeches, quizzes, and minimal homework. unstuckstudy was a huge help for speech prep. Overall, a fun and manageable class.
Very nice professor, tries his best to make content engaging. Usually weekly quizzes with 2 retakes with answers straight from textbook. Once I missed a quiz because of the holidays and he extended it for me :p Graded speeches pretty easy and gave good feedback. Just put in effort and be prepared for the speeches as there's only 5 overall.
He's been teaching at De Anza for very long. Easy A but classes might be too long for a GE class. Attendance is not mandatory. Weekly quizzes online.
Alex is the teacher students hope for. He's funny, engaging, smart, gives observant feedback, involved class discussions, and a good spirited guy. No pretense with him. The speeches are only 2-3 minutes, so you can really shine if you're a good speaker. No need to drag on, use long words, and extra adjectives. If you aren't good, it's over quick.
I had the pleasure of learning under Professor Kramer in my comm 08 class, and I can confidently say that he is an inspiring teacher. He is incredibly patient and calm, which helped ease my nerves, especially when speaking English in front of a computer.
took him for my last quarter at DA, wish i took him earlier he is so down to earth!!; 5 speeches, a couple discussions, 3 reflections, and 6 quizzes. he grades leniently i'd say, definitely improved the way i present my speeches.
Extremely chill with grading, but also engaging and interesting in lectures. You get to argue fun topics without the stress of a harsh grader (couple group debates though..). Even if you receive a poor grade, you get the chance to complete a 20 pt extra credit assignment at the end of the semester. Extremely chill guy, cannot recommend enough!
One of my favorite professors. I wish I had taken his class earlier, but I was too scared to take a public speaking class. He's kind, polite, and a lenient grader. Take him!
If you're scared of public speaking, I'd highly recommend you take him. He's incredibly caring, patient, and a lenient grader with clear expectations. I took the async class and you meet on zoom for 4/5 speeches and submit outlines, a couple reflections, and discussions. Weekly quizzes with 2 attempts, straight out of the textbook or videos!
amazing professor! even its asynchronous class, it really did help me work on my speech specially when doing debate. It would really make you enjoy this class researching about the topic. I would take him again if I can!
