He is very annoying to listen to-he says words such as newspaper like nyoosepaper and consumer like consyoomer -about every 5 words.He is really nice, but very weird, and loves to talk about himself and his success. He's unclear and a hard grader.

AMAZING! One of the most challenging classes I've taken in college. He got me interested in subjects I never was before. Definitely recommend him for any class - he is one of the best teachers here and JMU is luck to have him!

Most fun class ever. He makes you so interested in things that you're learning about. He will go out of his way to help you, and if you pay attention, the tests aren't that bad. Definatly take him, hes the best professor I've had in college.

SUPER FUN! Leidholdt is a really nice guy who makes this class interesting. His tests are super easy, I didn't study at all and got Bs! He grades papers pretty tough, but if you edit them you will be FINE! My reccomendation: TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!

Leidholt is the funniest professor alive. He's tall, manly, but with lisp & a deep voice..Class is easy if you study the night before for a test! He grades papers hard though, so make sure you write carefully!!

gets through lectures really quickly so be prepared to take notes quickly. Really good at getting info across. This class is repetitive, but interesting. Not too hard, tests can be sort of tricky

Great Professor, one of my favorites overall. He tries to get to know you and he really gets you interested in and thinking about the media. He is a little picky on papers but the class isn't much work. Big powerpoint assignment at the end but it's actually interesting. This is probably the best Cluster 1 class you can take.

The class itself is easy but he is very arrogant and about as far on the left wing as possible. He writes books in his spare time, so he grades papers really hard. The readings aren't really necessary and you basically only write 2 papers and do a group powerpoint at the end. Exams aren't too bad but can be tricky.

First impression was he is a gay Arnold Schwarzenegger with a Connecticut accent but he is a cool guy. I hated the class but Prof. Leidholdt was the most interesting of the 3 to listen to during the lectures. Puts a lot of energy into his lecture. If you are going to take the class I would recommend him.

Alex is so great! He definitely seems totally goofy and knows what he's talking about. As for the papers, he grades them fairly, and it is possible to get perfect or near perfect. He'll help you out on your powerpoint and always asks you your opinion on what you've covered in lecture. Definitely take him!

he's cute...and amusing to listen to...he's wise, and will probably keep forgetting your first name...but go with the flow...he's funny, and very intelligent when it comes to media literacy...I would recommend him any day..he can be a tough grader on papers, but at the same time pretty linient..just keep up in the class!

The man is AWESOME. He's extremely intelligent and confident in his knowledge in media. He taught at some pretty high up schools and really knows his stuff. I absolutely love this subject and it makes me excited to see a professor who is so passionate about it. He's also hilarious and sarcastic, which makes you feel totally comfortable in class.

alex is the best! he's hilarious and you can tell he is passionate about this subject. for the big group project, he's extremely helpful. he's cool- get him for discussion!

No memory for names or date, but AMAZING TEACHER! He seems to really care about each student, and if you ASK for help, he's more than happy to give it. SARCASTIC AND FUNNY, BUT YOU LEARN SO MUCH!

Best teacher I had my first year. Knows his stuff and is able to relate it to the students. Tests aren't that hard and you can get pretty good grades just by coming to class and paying attention. I totally recommend him.

Great professor. The 498 class was hard as HELL but he made it very worthwhile. Prof Leidholt is a great man and will help you whenever you need it. Be prepared to read Barnow's book "The Tube of Plenty" from cover to cover, type a 15 page research paper and take two tests. Made the rest of the SMAD major a piece of cake.

I really liked having Alex as my professor. He is a pretty interesting guy. Tests are easy if you read and make flashcards. The only difficult thing are the essays. Think outside the box but keep the wording simple. My favorite class this year.

LOVED THIS CLASS! He is a great teacher. Tries his hardest to remember names. 3 tests. They come straight from the notes and readings. You have to attend class to get a good grade. 2 Essays. REALLY hard grader. Tore my paper to shreads. Be very clear and as simple as you can be. The presentation is really fun to do. TAKE HIM!

He's a really entertaining professor and keeps labs interesting. I enjoyed the discussion and the lectures, but make sure to read the readings and pay attention to all the clips played in class. When writing essays, just answer the questions directly and completely. You won't get a good grade if you focus on how nice the writing is.

Dr. Leidholdt is really quirky and fun to have as a teacher. Go to class and you'll be fine. There are 3 tests that are basically straight from readings and videos. The papers are manageable; he basically gives you exactly what he wants on the assignment sheet. However, he is a pretty tough grader so really work hard on the group project and papers

LOVED HIM! Has a weird but funny sense of humor, and he knows his stuff! Tears your papers apart, but other than the 2 papers, class was easy and really interesting! Straight memorzing facts for tests. I'd take him again, he was awesome! Take good notes. GO TO CLASS or you'll miss the movie questions on the test!

This is a really easy and interesting class, especially for the critical thinking cluster. I loved the subject material. There are 3 exams, 2 papers, and a group powerpoint project. You get to watch a lot of videos and have class discussions. Attendance is mandatory. Exams are straightforward and not too difficult.

This guy is really entertaining. He'll look at you and not blink and get really intense about most things. He's fun to listen to and has a weird sense of humor. He is a great professor and makes the class really interesting. oh and he says damned every other word.

Leidholdt is the man, I had him for SMAD 372 and 498. A lot of reading but it's pretty interesting once you get into it. Hilarious sense of humor that not everyone picks up on immediately. By far my favorite professor!

Leidholt is seriously the man. His class is reading intensive and challenging but he makes the most dull material so entertaining with his Jersey accent and sense of humor. Don't miss an oppurtunity to take him!

Leidholdt was a great prof. The tests were really easy, just read the book and go over the slides, one presentation (not bad0, and two small papers. He grades harder on papers, so go to his office hours so he can help steer you in the right direction. He loved his students id recommend him!

This class was seriously a lot easier than I thought. Just do the readings and pay attention in lecture/lab. I thought Leidholdt was going to be a hard grader but I got a 98 and 99 on the two papers. Besides that there are three exams and a presentation, really not a big deal. He's hilarious and a really interesting professor! Take him if you can!

really knowledgable on the topics but grades the papers very critically. doesnt give hints or tips before the exams like the other section teachers do. entertaining way of explaining things but seems to not remember people's names

Good teacher, but grades really stupid. Tests arent hard but the papers were graded hard. Dont take this class your better off taking a different Gen Ed one tha doesnt grade papers like a AP lit teacher.

GREAT teacher!! My favorite teacher this semester. He really knows his stuff and leads great class discussions. Lectures are not boring and he grabs your attention. Not an easy A, but definitely worth taking. I highly recommend taking his class.

Leidholdt was a great teacher! This class consisted of a big group lecture where three teachers taught and then one break off class. Leidholdt made you want to learn the material because he was very into his subject. One group presentation and two papers, but the presentation wasn't hard. His grading can be rough on the paper. Take him!

Professor Leidholdt is a funny teacher (definitely the best of the three breakout session teachers) and is really there to help you do well. Two essays are graded intensively, but tests are easy if you've read and been to lecture.

Leidholdt is the BOMB. I see this man around campus and love saying hi! The class was really fascinating and it relates a ton to other JMU Geneds, especially GPSYC101 and GWRTC. I worked for my grade, but it wasn't hard material. Tests are easy, and teachers are really helpful. my FAV class!!

Professor Leidholdt is a great professor for this class. I enjoyed his breakout session more than the massive class lectures on Monday. The other 3 professors are hard to understand, but Leidholdt lectures class like he's preaching a sermon, which makes it very easy to stay focused. Easy class, do not pass up for Cluster 1

Professor Leidholdt is definitely the best professor within the GMad class. The other professors are boring and hard to understand. Leidholdt keeps it interesting and provides a good discussion during each breakout session. DEFINITELY TAKE THIS CLASS for Cluster One. So much easier than the others. I would 100% recommend Leidholdt.

Well, he is a great guy and a great teacher, definitely the BEST for the GMAD teachers. BUT, this class is unnecessarily difficult. They make the exams WAY to complicated when the basis of information is common sense. Definitely take another class from this cluster if you're not a SMAD major.

Love him! He's hilarious and really entertaining. He makes lectures entertaining. Extremely tough grader for the two short papers, but VERY EASY tests. Readings are gone over in lecture, but still recommend reading. No homework except weekly readings, two short papers and a group presentation. Highly recommend taking his class

Slightly out of his mind, but in all the right ways. This guy is hilarious and keeps things fun all the time. I LOVED having him as a professor because you can tell how passionate he is about this stuff. He was awesome and I would recommend him. He is DEFINITELY the professor you want for the breakout session, I'd say avoid the class otherwise.

I really like Prof. Leidholdt as a person. He's the most passionate teacher for GMAD (and probably the most passionate teacher ive ever had), which makes the class more captivatingeasier to listen to and he's funny. i thought the tests were kind of hard but if you really study and do the readings you should be fine. big group project & 2 papers.

Dr. Leidholdt was a pretty good guy. He was easily the most passionate professorteacher I've ever had, pretty sure he's actually in love with the class. He's very exciting and has lots of energy which makes the class very bearable. Only drawback is he is a VERY tough grader. Other than that if you're going to take GMAD you have to get him.

Professor Leidholdt is the most entertaining professor I have ever had. He makes you actually want to go to class and pay attention. He has really funny stories that he connects with class. He also talks really with a slight accent but it's extremely entertaining. I would highly recommend taking him. He might be a tough grader but it helps!

The tests really aren't that bad if you pay attention in lectures, but the papers aren't easy and the group project is a drag. You have to read and attend class or you won't pass. He's hilarious and he makes the dry stuff you read about really interesting. He wants to know your name so you can't get away with not reading bc he will call on you. 1 midterm, 1 final, random reading quizzes, and a big research paper at the end. Don't recommend with a heavy work load semester

LOVE HIM. He truly wants you to succeed and is there for you. Take your time to go to his office hours he loves the effort. Read and actually study and you'll do fine on the tests if you put in the work. He is the best lecturer. He is a tough grader on the essays. Talk about key ideas and be clear and specific and you'll do fine. Going to miss him

Hands down one of my favorite classes and professors at JMU. His passion for the topic is undeniable and the way the class is structured is completely student participation dependent. Be prepared to read A LOT, but the book isn't terrible and it makes classdiscussion much more enjoyable. He's hilarious and sarcastic and definitely worth taking.

Professor Leidholdt knows everything there is to know about SMAD and he does a great job of making sure his students are successful in the course! Tough grader, but if you visit his office hours and review his constructive criticism, you will definitely do better. The class is so interesting and I loved it. Leidholdt is an awesome guy and he loves what he teaches. This class was history of radio and television and I enjoyed it but it is a lot of work. You need to do the readings or else you won't know what is happening. Class is based off of discussion and videos. Always was there when I needed help. This was a tough class, winded up with a B.

One group project, 3 tests, 2 writing assignments. He is VERY enthusiastic about what he teaches and he really knows his stuff. He's super entertaining and flamboyant and keeps the class awake for the most part. Somewhat interesting material as well! Would definitely recommend!!

Exams are fairly straight forward with big concept questions. You watch lots of videos but you actually have to pay attention to them. The readings are pretty important too.

Professor Leidholdt is definitely not the easiest professor, but with that being said he makes class funny and interesting. Very passionate with what he talks about. Hard grader, grade is made up of 2 papers, 3 exams, and a group project. Actually teaches you the material.

I really enjoyed this class. Some interesting stuff and Leidholdt is super enthusiastic about the material which makes it easier to attend the lectures. My only complaint was the papers, which were difficult to write and he grades hard. Exams were easy with a basic amount of studying. Is a lot of reading but a lot of common sense material.

The most fun and engaging professor I've had in my three semesters at JMU. Really goes over material thoroughly and reinforces it each chance he gets. Clearly loves his job and performs at a high level. Pretty quirky and witty, which will probably make you laugh in class. Tests aren't bad, but he grades papers harshly. Would completely recommend.

The witty Prof. Leidholdt knows his material, clearly enjoys his job and connects well both personally and materially. As mentioned, tests are okay, but papers can be knocked a bit. Still, I would recommend him, but if your hard-pressed for time on-the-daily and grades, this may not be it.

Dr L is honestly the best prof I have ever had. He's absolutely hilarious and makes the classes really fun and interesting!! He genuinely cares about you succeeding and always makes himself available to help if you need it!! HIGHLY recommend

Hands down the best SMAD prof out there! I always look forward going to his class. He really makes an effort to get to know everyone in the class, and overall is a personable guy. Some may think he's a tough grader, but he leaves a bunch of feedback and is really looking for you to succeed and get better! Overall he's funny, entertaining, and witty

Not the most interesting class but he's very passionate about the material. He really gets to know his students in discussion and will randomly call on people. As long as you do the readings and pay attention in lecture then you will do fine. Tests are multiple choice and study guides are provided, make sure to know about the videos they show

Professor Leidholdt is one of the best SMAD teachers, he tries really hard to have a personal relationship with you and make the lab fun, he's also very passionate about what he teaches and goes over the material well. Very caring teacher and you can easily come to him for anything!

Prof. Leidholt is the best!!! So so funny. The class is semi-difficult, it is mostly based on the 4 tests, but for those as long as you have done the readings and study the PowerPoints you'll be fine. Such a fun class!

Leidholt has been my fav professor so far at JMU. He's funny and likes to keep the course material relevant to current events and interesting. The course itself is graded by a few things, so I can see how it could be easy to get a low grade (he grades kinda harshly); however, he gives great feedback and as long as you study for tests, you're good!

I definitely recommend taking this professor if you want to take SMAD150. He's hilarious and is very clear during lectures, and he is very approachable. Definitely cares a lot about the subject. 3 exams that aren't that hard, 2 papers that aren't hard at all, and one group project that is also easy. Definitely recommend as an easy GenEd class.

He is a hilarious professor that will always provide good feedback on papers, projects, and in person. He makes the material very understandable and is very approachable and clear if you have questions. I definitely recommend him and would take him again if I could!

Leidholdt is very enthusiastic about this course and will do a very good job being thorough. grades pretty easily but you NEED to do the readings and pay attention in lecture if you want to pass. class consists of 3 exams, one being the final, a group project and a couple smaller assignments. overall pretty easy gened if you put in some work!

Dr. Leidholdt is a good professor. He cared about students success and presented interesting lectures. The tests are straight forward. If you study for the tests, you should do well. However, he is a tough grader in terms of essays. I am typically an A writer, so I was shocked when I received an 88 on one of my papers.
