His classes were interesting, a lot of reading, quizes, and assignements, which is good because it forces you to work systematically.
gotta do the reading and a few essays if its a W, but he is a nice fair guy and a good marker.
I really enjoyed this class, and learnt a lot, read a lot. What really gave this professor an edge over the others was the manner in which the papers assigned had to reflect your own opinion. He encourages creativity and originality. I loved each class.
Very nice professor. Fair grader. Willing to help at any time.
I rated class very easy only if you do the reading!!! Lets you have your own opinion when writing! So if you views are different it's okay! Take this professor and you wont be sorry!
Take this class if you are willing to do alot of reading! The only thing is, the books were very interesting and hot, too. It's a heavy workload and he is a fair grader, but it's also fun and rewarding
I loved this class!!!! He was really nice and funny and had so much to bring to the class discussions. If you do all the readings, you will do well.
Blond hair blue eyes ! WOW ! I've talked to people from my class and the lowest grade i've heard was an A- ! Work's a bit heavy because it's a W class but if you do it and follow instructions you'll get an A. Also if you average an A in everything, NO FINAL !!!
great prof, id totally ertccommend him.
He is good but some times cannot make u understand things. such as what he wants in the essays. he gives pop quizes alot.. keep up with the readings. if u keep with the reading you can easily get a "B"
I took his class because all those good reviews about him. But he has changed from last year. He's disorganized and neglect students' opinions. Above all, one day he even said that he didn't care how the students were doing in class.'cause it's not going to affect him anyways. Don't take him.
i got tricked! hes is nothing like the first comments made about him. unfair grading, too much reading, pop quizzes, confusing, shall i go on.
The worst proffesor I have taken ever. Very unhelpful and could care less about how his students are doing. There is no way you can take notes in this class because he doesnt explain anything. All he does is ramble on from topic to topic without explaining anything. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFFESOR!!!!!
this is an AMAZING class and AWESOME teacher. the books are strange but fun and he cares about the class and makes sure we get it. i didnt think i wld like this class but i LOVED it!!!plus he's a real hottie too! take it--you wont be sorry.
He really knows his stuff and he was so awesome that I took him for part 2 also. I did really well on the papers and 1st test and he let me out of the final...I would definitely take him again.
the worst professor ever to teach a College course. Beware, he leaves his own feedback on rate my professor, so don't believe the positive ratings. Do yourself a favor stay away.
Do NOT even ATTEMPT to plagiarize. Make sure your cell phone is turned off. Those are his two pet peeves. Write clear, thorough essays and give a good presentation and you will do fine. Difficult material. It helps to have an interest in Greek mythology. He is a fair grader, though.
Awful awful awful, don't take.
sheesh im glad i didnt listen to the empty complaints posted here about Moudrov. what a wonderful prof. he is exactly the prof you want if you are looking not to waste your time, but for an experience. he is intellectual, amusing, attentive to the students, creative and open to his students creativity.
He is his own perspective of looking at things but very interseting. you have to keep on top of your work which is not a lot. He is not picky in grammar mistakes like other professors as long as you show effort in his papers, he gives you an A. definitely take his 205 european novel class for tier 2and take him for 101.W in the summer if you wantA
awesome, awesome, awesome, take!
He is the worst teacher at this school. He is also unfair in his grading and expects about 200 pages of reading per week. Other teachers do not do this. I'm glad I dropped his and took another.
He is the man ! Very helpful ! If you do the work you'll get an A.
Most classes are either really difficult but rewarding, or an easy A but a waste of time. With his class you will get a good grade if you do your work, and you will also learn. My writing has improved, my mind has been exercised, and my knowledge increased, all in an anxiety free environment. plus, he's funny, interesting, and really hot.
strange books and his lectures make em even more strange. i cant follow most of the stuff but whatever i can is quite good--
Lots of reading and writing required. This professor expects you to read his mind and he will not explain much. His ssignment questions are vague and he's extremely fixiated on details when you write and/or speak. Be prepared to be molded into his preceptions - ONLY! Not for adults who can not dedicate a semester's time to this wanna be Jove.
crazy, true, but enterteining and knows how to make any boring book interesting. reading not long at all, but must read them carefully. papers are not diffucult if you answer the question and do not deviate from the subject. and he'll give you A even if he does not agree you with--"believe what you want just be convincing" kind of thing. refreshing
his was my favorite class this semester.
i enjoyed his class this semester. There is a lot of reading in the class, but you'll get an A if you do the reading....
Some students dont like him but i personally thought he was GREAT. There is work to be done in the class. Reading, papers and about 5 quizzes. Yet, I find him to be extremely fair when it comes to grades. He has a perspective of his own. Highly reccomend!!!!!
very easy professor. if you do the reading you will do well in the class. gave 3 out of 4 short hw assignments and 2 longer essays, pretty good for a W class. final exam easy-he gave us all the questions ahead of time. just pay attention in class and you will get an A. and it helps if you add to the discussions in class, he really likes that :)
I got an A had to write alot but not alot of work. not bad.
VERY DIFFICULT. HE WAS UNCLEAR AND UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STUDENTS. MANY WERE RUDE TO HIM BECAUSE OF HIS OFFENSIVE MANNER WHICH IS UNDERSTATED. DO NOT RECCOMEND HIM. STAY AWAY!!!!
it was a delightful course although i wish i did not have to read that much, but the readings are fine, and he takes time to expolain what he wants so it was not hard to get an a
The professor is interesting and very organized. He comes to class prepared but does come late. I had a very hard time paying attention as he does have an accent. Once you get over that, there are 8 quizzes which are not hard, a presentation, a few writing assignments, and a final. If you do all the readings, you will do just fine. I got a B.
It is an intimidating and overwelming class at first but then it gets easier. Some books were actually interesting. He maks an effort to choose interesting books although sometimes he chooses some boring once too. But everything we read was a part of the subject so there was nothing useless. The course is impecably organized. There are several assi
Avoid this guy if you can. He loads you up with work and does not care if you take other classes. He is not loud in the class so you can barely hear him and his is like a robot, no emotion what so ever. He tends to forget that he is teaching a 101 class so avoid him if any of you can.
HE COMES OFF REALLY HARSH, BUT HE'S NOT THAT BAD IF YOU READ, STUDY AND DO ALL YOUR ASSIGNMENTS.
seems scarry at first but it was a more easier course that the one I failed in spring. works are very carfuly chosen. gives surprise quizes but he always gives questions before. you just have to read and show up and ur fine. he allows you to disagree with him. very openminded and can talk about anything. whats bad s that he NEVER takes late papers
he's simply the best professor. you're weird if you can't do well in his class.
Take his classes if you are ready for something new and difference. Read assigned material with awareness, pay attention his comments and you will be fine. And remember he likes reasonable arguments. I enjoyed his lectures a lot.
i miss him. why is he not teaching more courses.
no doubt the most difficlt person on campus but not boring like others. very interesting material and he is not afraid to talk about anything and no branewashing. he gives popquizzes and no late papers but he gves many options. and very helpful with writing
great books!
HE IS THE BEST! HE MIGHT SEEM HARD AT THE BEGINNING BUT IF YOU JUST READ THE ASSIGNED PAGES, IT IS PIECE OF CAKE. I HATED READING NOVELS BUT IN HIS CLASS THEY ARE PRETTY INTERESTING! I DID SO GOOD IN HIS CLASS, 90s and above. just do what he says, and there is nothing much he asks of you. just read and come to class and miterm and final also midter
He really is one of the best Prof. i've ever had. He guides you through everything so easily, to make sure u can get the best grade. Its all about your interpretations, so you cant ever be wrong, plus the readings become really interesting. I got an A w/o even tryin too hard, DEF TAKE HIM!! you will not regret it..
He is very unique and does make u question many of your ideals, beliefs and opens for you a different perspective on life situations. There are 3/4 papers due, one of which is a presentation, and quizzes every so often. Must read the assigned readings to do well and a great experience!!! Whoever has an issue is just looking a waste of time!!!
he's okay, not great. knows his stuff and makes sure you participate. he thinks his students can finish a book in 1 night and that becomes really annoying. he quizzes every week and makes you write 3 essays, and do 1 presentation. he loves debates and those can be fun. and he forces you to participate on bb discussions. made me hate the class tho.
he's not as bad as he seems. If you want a B.S. class I wouldnt reccomend him, but if you are a real college student then you will do fine. His readings are a little hefty though, but once you get the hang of how he runs his classes youll do fine.
Great professor. He will come across as very intimidating at the beginning but once the semester gets going, you'll see that he's a really nice guy and very reasonable. Just follow his instructions for writing your essays and you'll be fine. His tests are straight out of the class notes. Overall, not a hard teacher. Highly Recommended!
Quizzes about once a week on the readings so do the reading; also a midterm, final, and 3 papers but it is a writing intensive course...he comes across as very harsh and strict but as long as you do the readings, the course is a piece of cake...highly recommend
Omg he's so tough but he's really smart. He's ok he's alot better looking than some other profs. But he's really strict and hates absences and lateness
No Comments
MOUDROV is the best thing in queens. hes very smart funny and books are more INTERESTNG then other lit classes but also more demanding. three threepage papers and a bunch if easy quizes. hates latenesses. IMPORTANT, dont show up without reading the books first. but if you read it?s easy to get an A. hes not a robot at all
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Who else teaches Sade?
Nice guy who isn't nearly as intimidating as he may seem. Once the semester get going, you'll see he's a nice guy. Just do the readings, follow his instructions for the essays and you can easily get an A. Recommended!
This guy was one of the best profs i've ever had. simply inspiring.
He is hard to describe...Grades easy on quizzes and tests, but kinda tough on papers and the presentation which are worth a lot of your grade. He barely teaches the information but enough to do well on the tests if you do the reading....a lot of reading and probably a quiz a week....I am NOT a fan!!!He's also a little mean and not very helpful.
This class has some aspects of philosophy if you like philosophy then you should take this class. The professor is very logical and he is not happy when students tell him what they think. He is too smart for me even though I read many books. I hate philosophy and it gets me confused.
He's a hard to understand, really honest and even though he ask for you thoughts it seem like he does not care what u think. Hes a strict grader whit the essays but not with the quiz n test. Overall hes a great prof. very smart in his field i enjoyed his class a lot n u will learn if u show up and do the reading.take him also his cuteness is a +
A lot of reading materials. He is not a hard grader. However, he needs to keep this pet peeves to himself [eg. can't shake your foot, if you are flipping through your notes(yes! the noise annoys him), if you are 1 min (and i mean 1 min) late to his class you have to wait outside until the class has a break before you can enter his class.
He is strict, but fair. Do not expect a free ride in this class. You WILL have to read and you WILL have to make some effort. If you are a diligent student, you will be rewarded. If not, you will be struck down rather harshly.
This course is definitely challenging because of all the reading that's involved. However, I did really enjoy this class, although most didn't. Basically, if you read, you get a good grade. I read and got an A. Also, you need to do a presentation-IT'S NOT THAT HARD! Do your work and you do well. It's college, what do you expect?!
Highly recommend his class if you need a writing intense course! He is very clear about what he requires from his students, doesn't waste your time with nonsence but all his lectures in class are straight forward about the books, what he expects from you to complete, and discussing, interpreting and critiquing the literature. Heavy reading+writing!
great teacher! i enjoyed all the readings.3 short essays,1 presentation( not hard at all) and few quizzes,if you read the books its an easy A
I wrote a comment before but it was deleted. Just make sure that you keeps your arguments crisp, clean and simple. Do not try to impress him because he will find someway to challenge your argument and take off points. I went to the writing center to proof read but he gave me low 80s for all my essays. "KISS" keep it simple, stupid.
i'll be honest, it wasnt an easy class. it's deff possible to pass. he gives pop quizzes that aren't too hard, as long you review his study questions. there is reading every night, about 3 essays and a presentation. his midterm and final are kinda hard, at least i thought so. the main thing with this professor, is just stay on top of your work!
Great professor. Go to class, do the readings. He makes you do a presentation (very easy; he gives you an outline to follow and its only 5-10 mins.) I missed one random quiz (he gives a few) and it got me an A-. If you go to all classes and don't miss the quizzes he boosts your grade
All you need to do is take the course with an open mind, do the reading, show up for really great lectures and pop quizzes, and you're going to do well. If you're not, the professor is available to help you. It's also helpful if you have a sense of humour...lectures are peppered with witty quips that help make the material stick!
He is a really down to earth professor, he is not hard at all, just follow the instructions and you will do well. I got a C in the class because I choose to not do the presentation, but other than that easy class, 3 essays and 4 pop quizzes and a mini presentation. Attendance is not mandatory but good attendance will boost your grade. Take him.
Good class, relatively easy. Do the readings because there are quizzes. He is very helpful, informative, and responds quickly to email. Lots of writing - essays, quizzes, and one final (all essay form). Participation is really important. Overall, a great experience!
He is extremely helpful. The workload is a bit challenging but is definitely interesting. Doing all the reading is a must. If you take the quizzes it will boost your grade. Attendance is also a plus.
I'm glad to have signed up for his class. The texts he introduced helps in understanding a lot about human behavior and reality.
Lectures are somewhat interesting, workload isn't too much or too little. Too much class time wasted on student presentations, imo. Overall, not a great class but not terrible.
Best lit course I took at this college. The topic was religion and literature, whch was very interesting to begin with. Important thing is that he doesnt push his opinion on you like some other profs do. He can explain everything clearly and he is helpful if you talk to him. What can be boring sometime is some student presenttations.
He's a fair grader but his rules are hard to follow.. 6 pop quizzes lowest gets dropped, 2 short essays, 1 presentation, 1 recitation, 1 long essay, 1 cumulative final exam, 1 final project and offcourse tons of readings.. If you can't keep up with the readings, don't take him. We read 5 books during one semester. He Doesn't teach much during class
He is very strict about attendance and his grading. Yet If you work hard enough, it will actually pay off. He is a serious professor who will see your effort if you try hard enough. Interact with him outside of class, it is the only way he will understand your hard work and effort.Basically, a serious professor who will not fail to see your effort.
Unless if you're able to read dozens of chapters every night and can handle a pop quiz every class, run.
The best lit professor Queens has to offer! This man acknowledges the fact that we are young adults and teaches on a level that makes you feel accomplished at the end of class. The material is interesting and he gives many assignments so you have a chance to do well. This is the first class I've taken where I couldn't be happier with the course.
read books before class and post easy on time. do all studies questions. it will be a lot of fun in the class and learn many ideas from the books and his explains . take note in every class will be helpful to write easy. it is not difficult to get A.
Great class & great professor. Challenges you to do your best. If you do all the readings he assigns & make good discussions you will surely pass. Three essays, one final exam & lots of pop quizzes. Overall I enjoyed this class his topics & arguments were very interesting. I would take another class of his. Bonus, he is a funny professor too :)
In my experience, there was a lot of reading to do, but he provided study questions to highlight what we needed to focus on. A lot of important decision goes on in class, so you're going to want to make sure you show up, and on time too.
It is tough and you need to work hard
Well-organized and paced for the concentrated time-frame. Thoughtful use of Blackboard set-up. Makes efficient use of time while still being thought-provoking and insightful. Clear guidelines, instructions and feedback. Texts were caried and wove together thematically in interesting ways. Liked the repetition of building arguments with evidence .
Great Professor! I took him for CMLIT 101W and CMLIT 102W. He gives clear guidelines as to what he is looking for and the assignment all follow the same structure. His feedback is insightful and the literature he chooses are always thought provoking. I have always left his lecturesonline comments feeling inspired and interested. A Must Take!
One of the best professors at Queens !
I took this course in the Summer and we read 3 books and a not-so-short short story. They were followed by essay's with original arguments and that was probably the trickiest part but the professor gives good feedback and once you nail one, you can pretty much complete the others using the same format. Just follow directions and you'll do fine.
I have taken this professor for two semesters, and in each he has been great . Super insightful and he makes the readings very interesting. The quizzes and tests are not hard at all, given that you read the books. As far as essays go, he is very specific on the format he wants, but as long as you follow his rules, you'll get an A. Recommend.
Great professor. Do the work, go to class and you will be fine
Extremely interesting class. I'm glad I took it as it helped me look at works of literature much more different than I would have otherwise. You must keep up with the reading and pop quizzes are expected. Quizzes are pretty easy and designed to see if you did the assigned reading. Make sure you follow all instructions specially for the essays.
Took him over winter session and he's great. For a writing intensive class, it wasn't bad at all. He can be a little unclear in his grading criteria, but just follow the outlines that he gives you and you'll be fine. There's a lot of reading, but the work is doable.
The most straight forward class I ever took. I found the books boring but if you read then you can easily pass the quizzes and tests. The essays aren't hard either but make sure you follow his rules for it exactly or he will give you no credit. He cares for his students. Some classes he'll give lectures on how to take adv of our college careers.
Professor Moudrov hass clear guidelines of his expectations, and is a fair grader. He also gives great feedback. The course is well-designed to develop skills in building coherent arguments. It is an overall excellent course.
Follow the Prof. Instructions
Very thorough professor. HE helps to improve your reading comprehension and writing skills.
I LOVE Professor Moudrov! He is amazing. You will LEARN and definitely improve your handwritting. He is very smart and very thorough - I was taught so much in his class. DO try to attend every class and get everything done in time. He might sound scary at first (for some), but honestly: this is one of the best classes I've ever taken.
He is such a good professor. My Class on myths and realities was so amazing. The readings were hard simply because they are old documents and they are written like one. His lectures are very amazing and I did enjoy them. You learn so much trough his way to storytell. It's amazing. Take this class if you can.
He tells you what he wants, just give him what he wants and you pass with flying colors. Stray from what he wants, expect poor grades.
Interesting lectures. Easy to reach.
This course is very interesting. The professor talks about the books we have read. There a lot of quizzes but if you read you will pass them. Three essays. Just follow instructions and you will do well. I got an A.
I really enjoyed this class and the professors lectures. He has you thinking about texts differently and improves reading skills. There isn't an overwhelming amount of writing. As long as you read and follow the professors instructions there's no reason to not do well in this course.
Professor Moudrov is smart, sarcastic, and one of the best professors I've had. If you take his class, expect to take frequent, but fair quizzes and to give prof your undivided attention. His lectures are awesome. I left his class with a completely new view on religion and God. He helped me improve my writing skills a lot. Highly recommend!
Amazing professor!
I took CMLIT215W over the summer as an online course. I highly recommend this class to everyone. Dr. Moudrov is a great professor and is very fair when it comes to grading. He outlines exactly what he expects and if you follow his instructions you will get perfect scores. He gives tons of extra credit as well so its very hard to do poorly.
It's pretty clear that Professor Moudrov is incredibly intelligent. He responds to your discussions and he makes it certain you have a grasp of the reading. He responds quick to the emails. The reading amount was adequate and it was enjoyable. I learned a lot and he is organized.
Very clear about what is expected and the course work required. Excellent professor who is clearly passionate about the course
This was an online summer writing intensive class, so obviously there was a lot of reading and writing. Dr. Moudrov was clear on the intensity, expectations and work required. He gave detailed criteria, feedback and was a fair grader. He dropped the lowest quiz grades and gave extra credit. He also gave extra time to submit the big essay.
great teacher but every kid in class is so sensitive to his comments. People should stop complaining about this professor bc he is actually good if u put in the work.
Great professor, really clear about his expectations on papers and participation. Not hard to do well in his class
Do not try and not read, you will not pass!! Do not try and miss classes, you will not pass!! This professor gives excellent feed back faster then any professor I have ever had, pay attention to it! Do your best and last minute extra points on your final grade for perfect attendance and good grades on quizzes. You will pass quizzes if you read.
He is very clear on what he wants. The books were really hard to read and he didn't understand that.
This Professor gives very clear guidelines, flow them exactly as he requires. He gives a lot of extra credit options, responds to emails very quick, and grades are received on a timely basis. Do not take this course if you don't plan to read the books, it will be impossible to do well. Also, he is very sarcastic.
He is a great professor at first he seem like a hard professor because of his syllabus but in reality he straightforward and is clear of his expectations of your work. I took him as my first online class and I don't regret it. Highly recommended him!
Put some effort. Do all the assignment and follow the guidelines and format. You will get a good score.
BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR.
I am bad with literature, but this class was good. Given it was a 3 week winter course, it was understandable that there was a lot of work squeezed into a short period of time. Discussions are important and the quizzes aren't too bad, there's usually an extra credit question. Very clear grading criteria, class isn't hard as long as you follow it.
Read all of the assignments, show up to class on time, participate, do the essays according to his guideline, and you will do well. Beware of pop quizzes, not that hard if you read. Your hard work will be rewarded. He is a fast-grader, sarcastic and hilarious, and practically one of the best professor's I had this semester.
The class itself may be interpreted as problematic as a result of the texts that we read in class. The interesting part is the way the professor analyzes the readings and gives you a different perspective on religious texts. If you are incredibly religious, dont take the class. If you like being open to new information, do take the class.
Professor Moudrov is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. He takes the time to explain each chapter in class and gives his students the chance to participate (which you can earn extra points to boost your grade). Very sarcastic sense of humor - so don't be overly sensitive to what he says. Read, read, read - he gives surprise quizzes.
Lots of writing in 3 weeks but easy to get an A if you put the time in.
Intense. Readings could stand to be split more evenly. Some days almost ten chapters were required, while other days two. Less negativity would certainly make the teacher more approachable. Also, the same exact responses to multiple students' work seems lazy to me. Rubric for assignments could be helpful. Zeros given with minimal explanation.
I took this course during the summer session so understandably there was a lot of work crammed into a few weeks but overall I enjoyed it. He gives clear feedback on all assignments.
Moudrov tells everything directly, he doesn't sugar coat things and he is keen to point out mistakes(both in writing and rhetoric). He's not nice but he's fair. Participation and attendance ismandatory. There's online and pop quizzes almost every week. He has strong opinions but he encourages students to voice their opinion. He gives good advice.
Professor Moudrov is an excellent professor. I took his Global Literature class which was relatively easy but you have to do all the assigned work. This is the type of class that you have to show up to and participate. The grades are based on all the work you submit and there are no surprises in your grades. I would 100% recommend this class.
This professor makes you work continuously with online and pop quizzes, but they all go towards your final grade. He gives excellent feed back every step of the way so you will learn from your mistakes. He also gives you so much opportunities to pass the class then rest is up to you. The class theme is you work hard, you will get rewarded.
I wish more online professors were like him. He sets forth his expectations very clearly from the very beginning. He always responds to anything quickly. He is a fair grader and gives you opportunities to get extra credit (a surprise one towards the end of the course). This is the first online course where he grade within hours. Great Professor!
He assigned interesting lectures and novels and the assignments were not too long either. As long as you read the books and do the assignments on time you will enjoy his class for sure. He's a generous grader too
He doesn't seem to care much for his students. be prepared to read a lot!
One of the BEST online writing course & professor in QC. Altogether 10 quizzes 33%,10 Diss. Posts 42% and two 900 words essays25%. He provides excellent feedbacks and teaches you how to write, unlike other Comlit professors. Listen to his feedbacks and you will get a good grade. Workload might be a lot, but certainly doable if you dont slack.
He doesn't seem to care much for his students and presentation every class to get participation points.
Easy A if you do all the requirements. Hes kind enough to provide the readings for you. Tons of quizzes but as long as you read youll be fine. Can get a lot of extra credit if you participate. Deff recommend this Professor!
One of the best in qc.
Professor Moudrov is fair. People think he's a tough grader, but if you read the assigned material, and follow his instructions you'll be ok. Participation in a paper/discussion format weighs heavily on your grade, along with 3 term essays that must be written. The essays are tricky, but he gives instructions. Gives many chances to boost your grade
Professor Moudrov is a great instructor. He provides helpful feedback to help students develop and several opportunities for extra credit. He is fair. It's obvious he wants his student to succeed. Follow his outlines, do your assignments, and you'll be fine. He supplied reading material, 3 papers, a few quizzes (drops a few of the lowest grades)
Hes a good professor and makes you work for your grade. Get ready to do lots of reading and writing. Please participate and show up on time, its very important!!!
presentation every class to get participation points
Great Class. Respectful professor, intelligent and very communicative. I would definitely take his class again. Highly recommend him
Good professor for coursework. However not accommodating at all, especially if your going through some un-expected life issues that you did not plan. I mean come on have a heart for a student who ran into some unexpected family issues.
Professor Moudrov is very fair and to the point. He tells you exactly what you need to do to pass the class. The standards and requirements are laid out on his syllabus and all material is provided on blackboard. He gives a very reasonable amount of reading to do at home. If you put the effort and follow the requirements, you'll have no problem.
This was a writing intensive class so there was a bit of writing and lots of reading. Professor Moudrov offers to review your writing beforehand and correct it after as well. Half of the class was online, so we met once a week. I enjoyed what we read and discussed as it was all about universal human tendencies.
Great Professor. He might seem kind of intimidating at the beginning, but stick around. The class is clear and concise. Just follow all directions.
215w winter session. know how to quote, follow the format, finish the discussion board on time, then you good to pass at least 85. only 2 books around 160000 words 330pages
The professor gave clear assignments as well as a clear day-by-day syllabus on the topics you are expected to cover. I don't usually write reviews here, but I felt it was a great experience and the winter course didnt feel stressful at all. Read the books well and express yourself in writing.
At first I was afraid to register for this class because the syllabus makes it seem really intense but once the class starts you realize everything is clear. Just focus on what youre reading and do all the work and you will get a good grade. Also he provides feedback on all your assignments which allows you to do better. Definitely a must take!
I took the on-line class during the winter session, surprisingly, the class ended too quickly for me. I enjoyed the course and learned tremendously from the class. The professor was very organized with the course information and send us constant reminders and helpful information pertaining to the assignments.
Professor Moudrov's syllabus laid all of the assignments out very clearly. Since the course was only for the month of January, it seemed like a lot of work, but the professor made it all very clear. Do the discussion board posts and make sure to read his comments before each essay and you'll be fine
Prof Moudrovs class is very time consuming. Be prepared to spend time on his assignments and reading. No surprises for your final grade, do your on time work and youll be fine. His grading criteria for essays is strange, so pay close attention to any guidelines he gives you.
Our semester was disrupted by the coronavirus, making our hybrid course a fully online course. The transition was seamless. Theres a lot of essays, but thats to be expected. The were many short quizzes and tests but they werent difficult at all. Overall I liked it, the class actually challenged my writing skills unlike other courses.
If you fail an assignment, you can make it up at the end.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was one of the most understanding professors I had. Make sure you study the readings and do your essays/assignments on time, he will not accept late assignments at any point. Before COVID, his grading process was clear and he gives everything you need to pass. He communicates often and gives valuable input + updates
Well organized and he gives you chances to make up missing assignments.
I took Professor Moudrov over the Summer and it was an asynchronous class. I feel that he actually gives accurate feedback and does help his students if you are struggling. We didn't have mandatory lectures so reaching out stating you need help was all through email and blackboard. Personally, I enjoyed this class and would take it again!
Professor Moudrov is a great, he keeps the course interesting, interactive, and presents a clear outline on how to do well in the course. For me the course was enjoyable and I can say my writing has improved as a result of the feedback the professor gives. This is a course you definitely want to put effort into, you won't be disappointed!
Drops lowest two Discussion & Quiz scores. 3 EC points on final grade for doing all the work. HW every day. Seems easy at first but prof wasn't much of a help. Virtual OH didn't cover much. No clear-scaled assign. rubric - had to keep guessing what he wanted. If you're bad at writing or have a hard time reading classical books, good luck.
Very detailed, Lots of readings , difficult but an interesting class. Took him twice for two difference classes and enjoyed his class both times. I would definitely recommend him
Prof Alex is amazing. His syllabus is super clear and easy to understand. We didnt have a single lecture however he was very communicative and all his assignments were super clear. There is lots of work to be done but very manageable. He gives great feedback as well. i would def take him again. "textbook use" is just books we had to read
If getting better at writing academically and with concision, Professor Moudrov's class is great for that. In terms of having to take a virtual class, his has been the best by far - very engaging even without face-to-face instruction. He was always available and gave feedback on every piece of writing as well and email.
Pay close attention to directions to meet expectations. Discussion boards, quizzes, and two essays. Offered a make-up essay and applied extra credit points. There were four books to be read, so it was writing and reading intensive. At first, it was challenging but it gets easier over time! Lots of work so manage your time and you'll do great!
He's a gem there is no escaping that. You get quizzes on the books, and the DB's are so easy. Look at the exemplar he gives for essays and DBs and you will pass. His syllabus is as clear as day, you cannot get confused. If you shoot him an email, he replies super fast. He reminds you of due dates, and at the end gives some extra credit. Take him!
Had him for asynchronous online class this semester and his syllabus is very clear as well as his instructions. Do the quizzes, tests, and DB on time and you will pass. He is very specific with his essays but gives very CLEAR instructions for it. Always accessible outside of class and very considerate for our situation. I enjoyed his class!
The material is great if you love literature; the work is challenging but helps make you a better writer. The teacher is rough around the edges, and his sarcastic tone can be taken personally, but the work is doable. Just follow the syllabus. He is very particular and precise as to what he wants, so make sure you follow that.
Professor Moudrov is very fair with the grading criteria. His lectures are interesting and helpful to understand the weekly assigned readings. Be ready to read and always complete the quizzes, tests, and DB submissions. Make sure to follow his instructions carefully when you have to write your arguments and essays. I've learned a lot in his class!
You can get an A for this class or pass if you put in the time and work. Follow the instructions to know how to format your arguments . Tests and quizzes are multiple choice and based on what you read. You have to write two essays based on your DB submissions. Extra credit will be added to your final average so make sure you complete everything.
The readings are very interesting. Follow the instructions and do your work, you will receive the reward.
Professor Moudrov is clear on what he expects of you. There is a lot of reading but I found most of the reading interesting. If you actually pay attention to the reading, you might actually find yourself engaged in it. He gives quizzes and tests, not crazy ones, but they are all based on the assigned lectures and readings. Take him! He's great.
Easy work. Strict and mediocre guy
The syllabus he gave was very clear and straightforward although we were on an asynchronous course, he made it very easy to learn because he gave clear instructions. At the same time, he is very quick to respond to your emails highly recommend this professor.
As long as you keep up with the readings, the assignment are reasonable
He really is a straight-forward guy, a W class that is not stressful. Follow all his documents and apply them to your writing, read for quizzes; they are simple. The books are less than 11 dollars, and interesting. He offers optional meetings and responds fast via email. If you need help he is basically an email away. Wish he taught more CMLITs!
Dr. Moudrov is very clear in his instructions, a fair grader, and makes himself easily available for any questions. The course was extremely well organized and you were able to start the course early if you chose to. If you follow his guidelines and hand assignments in on time, you will do great!
Even though the class was only 3 weeks long, I never felt overwhelmed by assignments. Prof. Moudrov gave great feedback. I enjoyed replying to other students on BB. And I thought the books were interesting especially the Picture of Dorian Gray. I liked his few written lectures, they were clear. I became a better writer.
Weekly DB, Tests are MC's, based on the material he assigns to read.
Great professor! Knows his materials. Some of the readings were difficult to understand, however, he offers extra credit at the end of the semester if you complete all of the assignments.
Most of the work has to be done on your own. Even though there is a lot of reading and writing they are double. He gives good feedback when grading your discussion boards. Overall, I loved taking this course with professor Moudrov.
I genuinely enjoyed taking his class. Professor Moudrov was clear and always straight to the point. For all my discussion boards and essays, he gave me good feedback which I appreciated. His class was very organized and he was always available outside of class. I also enjoyed the lectures and readings he assigned to us. Take him for CMLIT101W!
He is strict, and quite possibly the most boring professor at Queens College. You will hate the term "guiding question" by the end of the semester. He will crap on your essays like he enjoys it. He cries when students don't show up to his optional (you read that right, OPTIONAL) meetings. Avoid this professor unless you enjoy reading the bible.
If you want to be lazy and expect a good grade then do not take him, Moudrov is a hidden gem at QC who will challenge your writing skills and overall way of thinking. He chooses excellent material, not boring at all and asks you to craft YOUR OWN ARGUMENTS, do not expect to be spoon fed. He gives excellent feedback and has high expectations. 10/10.
Professor Alexander Moudrov's course is great for you if you are willing to do the work. He has detailed guides to help you do well in academic writing. His course would require you to read the assigned text very carefully, think hard and creatively about it. If you are not lazy and willing to read, think and write, please take him.
He was very clear on what to expect for his class. All of the reading materials were free on Blackboard. Just do your work (on time) and you will get a good grade!
Professor Moudrov classes was great. He is clear on the class expectations and gives good feedback on outline. 3 weeks course work load is fair and not that difficult as long as you do the reading. I would take him again.
Enjoyed the clear syllabus, readings, and how fast he grades. His optional meetings were not necessary and used it more as a stage to hate anything having to do with God. Students are asked to be objective but he is clear in his negative opinions on the bible portion of class. Perhaps he should keep it objective and keep negativity to himself.
Very nice professor! You can get extra credits for finishing your homework.
I found the readings he gave were super interesting. A DB every week with extremely short quizzes and tests. Two essays based on DBs. Lowkey an Easy if you find ancient literature easy to grasp. He grades his DB assignments in a very particular way so read his lectures very carefully. Also stringent on deadlines but a cool guy overall.
Overall a great experience! Clear expectations, and the work load is manageable if you dedicate ample time to readings (which he provides). He has a specific format for DB assignments, which can be hard to grasp at first, but he gives feedback. As long as you don't miss any assignments (he won't take late work) and manage your time, you'll be fine!
Professor Moudrov is a solid professor, even if you can't see him. He gives clear instructions and is very straightforward with his grading. Leave your opinions at the door and just be prepared to do everything according to his explicit instructions. So long as you do that, you will get an easy good grade.
The content of the course itself is manageable and top quality. The requirements and policies aren't special, they're pretty standard, in my opinion. However, Moudrov's humor? and attitude either misses or hits (most of the time it misses) which makes him seem rude to the point where I simply felt uncomfortable attending his class. Don't recommend.
This was asynchronous class mode. I really enjoyed this class through semester. Reading materials were interesting to read. And essays involved writing interesting arguments. From the beginning of the semester there is clear schedule posted, and the students have opportunity to plan to do their assignments. Very clear and interesting class
Not an overly difficult class, some of the readings are quite boring but he gives you a list of them prior to classes starting. The essay criteria is super clear, and you can submit an outline making it really easy to score >90 so long as you follow what he says. Quizzes were very easy to get through, just pay attention and do the readings.
Prof. Moudrov is amazing. His class is asynchronous and you will be able to do your essays/tests ahead of time. People used to say he is rude when replying to your discussion boards but the truth is people don't even try to do good and then bih about it. Follow his instructions and you'll get an A.
It's not a hard class but it does require time to read. You must read the required readings before each class or you will fail the quizzes.
Amazing professor, would definitely recommend
Asynch; short guiding quizzes & tests, and discussion board submissions & responses ALMOST weekly. 2 essays based on dbs. You only read religious texts. He answers emails to help you form your argument, which was very helpful. Sometimes comments on your submission to say why it might not have been good. Everythings posted even before the semester.
Professor Alexandre is an amazing professor. He expects clear work from us and provides many examples as to how he wants us to complete the essays and discussion form posts. The feedback he gives us on these posts are clear. Only thing that stressed me out was the very small amount of time he gave for tests but other than that, amazing class.
Professor is very clear about what is required for the course. There will be several readings throughout the semester but it's spread out evenly and not terribly difficult to understand. If you've read, you will have not have much trouble with the quizzes or understanding what he says in class. Overall, lectures are energetic and he is very funny.
He is very nice professor. He give a feedback to every work very clearly so that we won't repeat that mistakes again. He is very fair grader.
If you want to do well in this class make sure to dedicate at least 2 hours everyday to this class. I really enjoyed it because he did not assign boring materials to read. Put in the effort and he will see that. It was an asynchronous class so you are allowed to work ahead of time since he posts the schedule beforehand. Just be responsible.
Very hard teacher.
I hate reading, but this professor chose some interesting texts that made me want to read, which is not like me. For the most part, the readings are relatively short with the exception of a few texts. No final exam, just many short online quizzes/tests (very easy if you read), 2-3 in-person pop quizzes (not too bad), 6-7 DB posts, and 2 essays.
Mr.Moudrov is one of the most entertaining professors at QC who makes lectures interesting. grade is based on Discussion board posts due once a week (300 words),10 min quizzes are due online after every in-person class (with some "surprise" in-person quizzes), and 2 essays (he doesn't review drafts but does go over outlines). All based on readings.
I took asynchronous. Professor Moudrov put up all the class materials the first week so if there was a conflict at a later date, you can do them earlier. He wants everyone to do well and gives clear feedback on each discussion board post. He answers emails very quickly. I don't usually enjoy reading, but he chose very interesting reading material!
Asynchronous class. Gives clear guidelines to get an easy A in his class. Fair grader. I haven't written an essay for almost 2 years, but the discussion boards and essays were easy and enjoyable because the readings he assigns are very interesting. The fact that he takes the time to respond to students' reviews shows how dedicated he is!
I have this professor for this semester as my cmlit 101w class and trust me this was one of the classes that was giving me too much anxiety and hard time. As I actually came from a foreign country just a few months ago I didn't really know that much about all these things and English isn't my first language. Honestly speaking don't take this class.
Professor Moudrov was THE BEST instructor I had at this school. He attached a calendar to the syllabus that helped us stay organized and his expectations were clear. Taking his class definitely helped me improve my writing, but it also taught me important lessons. Do the work and receive your reward. Highly recommend.
The syllabus states absolutely everything a student needs to know how to succeed. The professor gives really good lectures about the material. There are small online tests every week and discussion boards but they are ez to do if u keep up with the schedule. There is tons of xtra credit at the end of the semester if you do all of the required work
I took this class in the summer (4 weeks) it was a lot of work, but the works we read were very interesting. I recommend this professor 100%, he really cares that you learn to write good arguments! It's not an easy A class, but he gave us extra credit, and I know that helped a lot of people.
Professor Moudrov is a great professor, you can learn the writing technique from this course.
At first, this professor may seem very nitpicky or strict. However, as you begin to do the work for the class, everything becomes clear/organized very conveniently. The readings and lectures were both pretty interesting, which is uncommon to see in writing classes. He was very helpful, gave a lot of extra credit, and made the class fair and doable.
Specific DB format but was great overall. Enjoyed the reading.
Doesn't grade work based on the quality of the writing but rather on your ability to write a response that follows the format requested. So you can fail an assignment even if it was written well. Take someone else who will mark by the quality of the work, not your ability to fulfill bs criteria. The class won't make you a better writer.
Theres a lot of readings and since this class is asynch, prep your time in advance
Professor Moudrov is very strict, but he only wants the best for you in terms of your reading and writing skills. You must put effort into his classes or else you won't do well. Time crunch of the summer session made the class difficult as we had to cram in a normal semester worth of material in a month so be prepared to read and write. 5/5!
If you have the chance to take him, please do, he will challenge your writing skills and help you gain exposure to the true essence of writing. He chooses engaging texts and has always been open to giving feedback on essays. The syllabus is clear as day, and all his expectations are clear. He needs to teach even more CMLIT classes, a true gem.
Clear grading
I would recommend not to take his class he is so rude and doesn't care about the students. When you ask for help he doesn't help. Most importantly he is a tough grader and if students try to fix their mistakes he still dont change their grades.
I am not a good writer, but this class definitely did help improve my writing skills. He does have a high standard and wants you to follow a certain way of writing, but once you get that down, it's smooth sailing from there. Very clear with instructions as well as grading. Mostly online quizzes with a few in person. Would recommend taking him.
Tough grader but the criteria is extremely clear and straight forward. No extra credit offered but does not count 3 tests.
Overall great semester! Thank you!
Good professor, this is a writing-intensive course, so of course, be ready to write. He makes everything clear from day one and forward. This class is easy to follow along with, and it's a very easy A. If you don't put in the work, then don't expect good results! He's a bit tough/strict but in a good way that pushes you to do better.
Honestly, I thought that the class was very fair. If you read the syllabus instructions and write exactly how he tells you to, you will be fine. It was not that difficult and I think that some people never read anything and are upset that they did bad. You also could do work ahead of time which is great.
Would never recommend. He contacts RMP to get honest reviews taken down. I have watched more than 30 reviews get taken down in real time. Dr. Moudrov, you can not silence me.
Harsh grader, weekly exams and discussion boards, must attend every class or you will receive a different and more difficult version of the final. Avoid.
Overall D class final grade. Pop quiz every in person class, at least two tests per week, and weekly discussion board essays. Some students attended every class and submitted every assignment and still failed. Consider other options.
I was genuinely excited to take this class, but it ended up being my worst academic experience at QC. The professor was consistently dismissive and unnecessarily rude. I would absolutely never recommend. If possible, fulfill this requirement with a different professor, choose another course, or take it in a future semester with someone else.
our class had a D final avg grade which is absolutely not normal for a 101 gen ed class. this class with this prof specifically will most definitely bring your gpa down. please save your mental health and gpa and avoid him!
Although the material was interesting, I would not recommend this professor. This was an extremely unpleasant experience. Dismissive, harsh grader, and actively made things as difficult as possible. Please enroll with any other professor.
Do not take this professor!
I took his class during the June session online. Since it's a online class on a short summer week, you do need to submit your discussions, tests, and essays on time on a fast pace, but he still helps students by offering office hours. It is a writing class, so you are expected to write a lot while being opened minded on the readings he assigns us.
“Easiest, most straightforward, and best writing course I ever took — let alone as an intensive! He's a really good teacher who cares about what he teaches. The syllabus explains everything. Lots of discussion boards and replies, but easy. He responds to emails fast. If you do the readings, you'll pass with no problem.”
Our class had an absolutely horrific experience. My biggest regret during college is enrolling in this professor's class.
a little rough around the edges, but he's really not that bad. he may have been going through some stuff when our class had him, as we all do. we're human. we've all been there. forgive and move on. coming on here to ruin someone's RMP helps no one, least of all yourself. more anger is not what the world needs. show love to everyone
"Removing negative reviews and then dropping a positive review full of self-pity is not excusable" you can believe whatever you want, but im not the professor. i left a negative review myself, came back and saw his page got blown up and tbh i feel like $|-|1t about it, ok? i didn't pass either
guidelines to do well are set out from day 1, gotta stay on top of it and show that you can follow directions. you can't jus ChatGPT your way thru and expect good results. you gotta learn. lowk skill issue if you can't because what you need is right in front of you
hes not that bad
The assignments he assigns take hours to complete. But the deadline he gives for them suggests that he wants to make sure we have no free time in our lives to ourselves and only complete his assignments. It's a class mostly taken for credit, idk what he expects from us.
To bro psychotically posting every day, you need to chill lol. Dudes not that bad fr
A harsh grader and makes everything much more complicated. Hard to communicate with as well.
he contacts RMP for every review he doesn't agree with to get them taken down. his rmp rating does not reflect what his students think of him, it should be significantly lower! i know y'all see him reporting every honest review lol
Would never recommend.
Had to ready 1 novel every week granted it was a 16 week course packed into 4 weeks. Clear grading criteria and an easy grader
Prof. Moudrov is a great prof. He is a bit strict and the course is heavy but then again this is a writing intensive course. just follow his feedback and try to write over the word minimum and you should end up with an A. not sure what his policy is for the fall or spring but for the summer he drops two tests, two DBs and gives you a makeup essay.
Too much work to do in this class. Don't have the whole day just to work on his assignments and he has the weirdest instructions. Make some minor mistakes and you'll fail his assignments.
It was a 16 week course into a 4 week summer course, so of course there is so much to do in less of time. Professor gives office hours via zoom, and makes us send him an outline to review our discussions and essays before we submit our final drafts. The assigned books were also interesting!
Course is reading and writing intensive, make sure to have time to read LOTS. Professor gives good feedback + responds in timely manner. You have step by step instructions to get all points on assignments. You are graded on 3 things. You have to put effort into reading + writing, it'll take more effort to fail this class than to pass.
I took CMLIT 101W & 102W with professor M and honestly have no complaints. From day 1 he was clear about what he expects from his students and had everything laid out for us. All you need to do well in this course is to literally just follow instructions, which he makes very easy to do. He is also very accessible via email & office hours.
I took his online WI summer course, CMLIT102W. I was a little hesitant to take the course however, Professor Moudrov shared the syllabus in advance and chose very interesting books. Overall, he was clear on his expectations and was made himself available to support with assignments. I'm glad I didn't back out based off of some of his reviews.
If you see his class, don't take it. If you're already in his class, drop it. Save your GPA.
hes strict about ai but looking back on it i think thats actually a good thing, even if it was annoying to deal with while taking his class. he just wants you to put in the work without relying on AI and ive actually come to appreciate that in a way especially given how destructive and dangerous the technology is.
I took him twice online, and this class is a hard one to fail. As long as you submit the essays and discussions on time, then you should be fine. He gives office hours if you need them. Just do everything on time, and keep an open mind with the assigned readings.
would not even recommend to my worst enemy. made the class ode hard.
i've never seen a professor work so hard to make students fail. exams are designed to trick, grading is merciless, and most people end up with d's. don't risk your gpa here.
if you want to cry yourself to sleep every week, sign up! otherwise, save your gpa and sanity. i wouldn't wish this class on my worst enemy.
Handed in every assignment on time, and still almost failed. Good luck.
taking him rn and wouldn't recommend. the only prof i've seen to throw around 0s, regardless of how much students try.
The worst professor I've had so far. Has office hours to "help" but when you go he "can't do anything to help". Please please take with another professor. Told students they don't actually know how to write anything.
Very terrible!!!
Mr. Moudrov will do anything to hurt his students' grades. Daily pop quizzes, weekly tests and discussion boards, and overall an extremely nitpicky grader. No help or extra credit of any kind offered. Very condescending and seems to hate teaching. Not sure why he chose this profession.
This professor is very unapproachable and makes his guidelines even more unbearable than they already are. He tries taking off many points on DB posts acting like an intellectual. Even if you're actually putting in the effort, and doing well in his class he tries his best to give you a bad grade. He introduces new class guidelines which are tougher
if you dont know what the word prospective means and u are an undergrad theres no saving yourself from that ngl
Moudrov you've lost your mind. If you really want to have a conversation I'm willing to talk. Come to the library 2nd floor. I should be entitled to my own opinion. Let's have a fair discussion.
Do NOT take this professor. Extremely rude, very quick to fail students but takes weeks to grade assignments, does not help with anything and is very vague about what is needed in the class, particularly with due dates. He also writes his own positive reviews
Of course there was no discussion, you think moudrov would actually show up and take accountability for his actions and arrogance? A chance for him to actually hear student criticism? You actually think his ego would allow him ? Also moudrov stop trying to sound like Students, it's painfully obvious.
This professor was incredibly rude and made the class unnecessarily stressful. He showed no empathy, even when I was struggling mentally. He refused to accommodate students or acknowledge their needs. Easily the worst professor I've dealt with at QC.
Show that you put in effort and you will pass. Workload is heavy but doable if you're actually willing to try.
Working hard and efficiently is simply not enough in this class, especially when your professor lacks compassion. I would recommend finding a different professor
easiest writing elective class. literally a free A
I am personally intrigued by the cowardice and ludicrously capaciously ingenuity by which the aforementioned individuals are conducting their biting and scathing, ludicrous and egregious, reviews. Oh Moudrov, you could only wish to yellow belly and wage a war as cool as I. Oh, dont forget the rubies. -The Saurus
The class is pretty nice because most of the books have movies too if you're in a crunch and need to do the assignment. It's work but not rocket science.
I'm taking him rn and have both + and - things to say. It's like that with everybody these days though, pre-covid profs seemed more into it. Anyways, I will say at least he gives make up opportunities. But other than that...I have my own doubts. Consider other options too
Could not recommend this professor enough. As long as you put in effort, you will pass trust.
I don't understand why Professor Moudrov has such low ratings. I took him for two online courses, 215W and CMLIT 101W and received an A+ in both. An A is 100% feasible as long as you stick to his strict rubric structures for the writing responses; he shows you exactly how to get full credit on the assignments. It's not difficult.
Do not take this class. WORST class and most of all WORST prof in QC. genuinely who does he think he is failing people left and right. Oh ya and those office hours he has are such a joke , he dosen't even give any advice. genuinely the worst prof in qc, i dont know how he got hired to work here. do not take.
i never write reviews on here bc i never thought id find the worst prof in QC but i have found him guys. dont take this class. its a joke. gives 0 feedback and 0 advice. how can one get hired to work here is the real question. oh and prof if your reading this while trying to get it taken down, thats sad. save some time ug and dont take him.
