This is a really hard class, the four first chapters are really straight-forward stuff but the rest chapters start getting hard. He is not great at teaching, but in this class whether you have a good or bad professor you are on your own, the exams (3) are held on campus and is the same for every class. Prof is extremely nice and helpful.
A practicing CPA, very nice, listens to students.. is really nice to look at too..
Mr. Sueiro is the best accounting professor at FIU. This class is not easy, but he gives you all the necessary information to succeed. He is very polite and proper. He is very intelligent and not to mention, attractive. He is by far the best looking accounting professor at FIU. Take his class!!!
This class is really hard and requires a lot of study time. You cannot wait until the last week to cover all the chapters for the exam. The professor tries to make it easier and very understanding. I really recommend this professor.
This class is hard no matter what professor you have. Alex is pretty good at giving real life examples. He gives quizes that are super curved those help you with a couple of points on your final grade. You have to keep up and study every week and do the homework over and over. the exams are trick and are the same for every professor. study hard.
Great Professor. Gives real life examples. Very intelligent and kind of funny sometimes. This professor reminded me of my cuban professors who atually liked to teach. Quizes are curved based on the class average. Review the quizes and the exams to clarify doubts. Study, do the homework and you'll pass.
Look, at this level these classes are mainly self-study. The professor helps if you have questions, but dont expect them to teach you the material. That being said, he is SUPER nice and easy to talk to. Owns his own CPA firm and is a great guy to have in your network! Curves quizzes. Moral of the story, STUDY HARD. That's what it takes.
this class is pretty hard and you might have to take it more than once, but if you have the chance to pick sueiro pick him! the test is the same for all the classes but sueiro gives the biggest curves on the quizzes which is 10 percent of your grade. he also cares about his students he brought us cuban coffee during our final! helped keep me awake
He is a "fun" professor, but you want someone who really cares about his students and has time for them too. His examples are realistic but he goes through the chapters super fast and does not do any in class exercises, which I always find helpful (Wang does). he curves on his quizzes, but either way the exams(3) are the most important.theory lectu
not helpful when you have questions. always has some remark to say back. he is funny at times and curves quizzes but that wont help you pass the class!!! he teaches part time, so he is always on a rush. sometimes he takes TOO long to give his students their quiz/exam grades. sometimes acts like a jerk (individually- never in front of everyone)
worst accounting professor, Not helpful at all, he rushes through the slides and chapters, doesn't provide mathematical examples.
Run. Away. Nice guy BUT...If you want to actually pass this class, go to another professor. No classroom examples, flies through the slides, insanely long time to get exam/quiz grades back.
He's a nice and funny guy but DOES NOT go over any problems. He reads off the PowerPoints throughout the entire class. As it is, the class is very difficult and not working out problems does not help one bit. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives pop-up quizzes (BIG curve) but they are only 10% of final grade.
Nice guy, doesn't come up with his own notes though and just uses powerpoints the whole class. He is pretty helpful and keeps the mood light. Material itself is kinda hard and he gives pop quizzes so you should come to class anyway and the midterm/final he curves.
So, Alex is a CPA he has his own business and teaches on the side. He knows his stuff. He uses a lot of accounting lingo that students might not know. Accounting is a new language so grab the textbook and don't put it down for the whole semester. He is very nice, can answer questions (if you even know what to ask).
It's a difficult class just like any other accounting class but he explains very well. If you read the chapters, attend lectures, & do the hw you'll pass. He gives a ton of extra credit which helps you pass.
Don't expect him to reply to your emails or questions, he is not flexible with office hours either. This was really a problem for me because i expect my professor to be there when i have a problem or question. He has another full time job so don't expect him to be available. He reads of the power point, your better off getting a tutor.
Best professor for Accounting, the topic is hard but the professor will help you pass. Class is interesting, he gives you real life scenarios. There is a lot of extra credit and a good curve for the quizzes. This was my 2nd time taking Accounting and i regret not taking this professor the first time. GO TO CLASS for the quizzes!! I recommend.
Overall, Not a bad teacher. The problem is there is not really any teaching that happens in this class. He basically reads off of a powerpoint the entire time. He does gives extra credit opportunities and curves quizzes and tests A LOT. But you will still need to work for the grade. It is definitely not a easy A. Good Luck Everyone!
Worse professor ever. He is so lazy, the only thing he does in class is read from Power Point provided by Pearson. Assigns a lot of homework. He gives pop quiz for every chapter they are hard but he curves a lot. The midterm and the final are written by the Accounting School. He does not prepare you for th exams at all. You need to teach your self
Hes a great guy and professor but goes through notes very quick. Its hard to study because the test is based off book and not the homework, so focus more on the book while getting at least an 80% on the homework.
He's an okay professor, like everyone else has said you basically have to teach yourself because he goes over the the powerpoints in class very quickly. There are 6 quizzes of which he curves a lot, lots of homework, a midterm and a final. Both exams are very hard and not based off of any of the homework, just the book. Good luck.
3rd time taking this class. Suiero is actually one of the best ones in accounting. The material is very hard no matter how you put it and it is unfair that our first accounting class is this difficult. Only about 40% of class passes and the midterm and final cover things we never went over. Get yourself a tutor and give it 100% to pass.
Professor Sueiro talks a lot and you will get lost in his lecture. I took the 8am class and the material was just really hard. You take it with a bunch of other students which makes it difficult to clarify any questions. His quizzes are really hard.
Right, he's a good teacher but only thing is that he rushes through the slides to make sure he finishes on time. Accounting is a hard class regardless. He gives a huge curve and tries to make everyone pass. Pop-Quizzes get tougher throughout the semester. Tests are really hard, so get ready to READ and practice!
Great teacher hard but really teaches you. Great stories.
He tries his best to teach but he's not the best, he rushes through the powerpoint. I never opened the book but I suggest you should because it is extremely hard, so is the online HW, quizzes get harder and are unannounced, HOWEVER, he curves tf out of the quizzes and offers HELLA extra credit, if ur studious, u will pass, if not, good luck lol
He is not the best but not the worst. He reads off of a powerpoint and goes through quickly, you basically teach yourself. Attendance is not mandatory but he gives random pop quizzes. He does curve A LOT on the in class quizzes. If you like teaching yourself take him, if you'd like a better learning experience, take someone else.
Sueiro is a tough teacher. Accounting is hard, the reviews for the final and midterm will save you. Homework is hard and time consuming. Boring Class. Answer questions in class he might give you heat tickets!
Failed the 1st time; 2nd time I got a B+ working less hours and taking this w/ 1 other easy class. You do not need to know ANY math to pass! I got a 70 on the midterm by just understanding the concepts! Then a 60% on final. As long as you get an 90% on all homeworks, and about a 70(100 w/ curve) on all quizzes you can get 60 on both exams to pass
Pop quizzes are mostly the class after homework is due, on those 2 chapters. To pass do the Quick check at the end of each chapter!!! For both the quizzes and the midterm/final. LOTS of questions are the same. Before midterm/final does reviews AND do practice tests he post on pearson!!! Do EC,project, and have to get 90 average on hw and quizzes
he's not too good at lecturing, i didn't really learn anything from him and only passed the class from studying. the tests are really hard, and there a lots of complex concepts to memorize but the actual math is simple. to get a good grade you have to work your butt off, and make sure to do the extra credit cause it's a life saver.
I really enjoyed his class even though Accounting was hard for me. He made it easy to pass because of the extra credit he gives you and the incentives of going to his tutoring sessions. Ask away, he will answer your question. I will recommend you to take him, just make sure to do your homework with time because they are really long.
ACG2021 was the hardest class I ever took. IT TOOK ME 3 TIMES and I did all 3 with Sueiro. Trust me, the teacher you get is 20% of the course, the other 80% is doing all HW and quizzes and doing you best esp. in the in class quizzes and HOPING you get above a 70 to pass. GPA went from 3.7 to 2.7 thanks to this course. FIU should make it easier
Sueiro spends class on useful powerpoints, practice questions that he tackles step-by-step so we can see the process, and chapter tests that he curves tremendously since participation and exposure is the aim for those. I feel that it was an effective, practical class, even with all the online homework. It really did help. Just stay on top of it.
I took Sueiro's class in spring '17. Sueiro will tell you from day one that his class requires effort, and he repeats it throughout the semester. His lectures are engaging and he does a good job of relating the material to common events. Attendance isn't mandatory, but quizzes are randomly given in class, and you don't want to miss one.
If you have any questions he will tell you "go youtube it". You're paying for a grade not to learn accounting. If you are interested in learning ... go youtube it.
Overall a difficult class. One of the few accounting teachers who speaks fluent English and knows the material. Gives a lot of extra points which help boost your grade. If you want to get anything higher than a C in the exams you need to study a lot outside of class.
As everyone knows, accounting is a difficult class so don't blame the professor. Sueiro is a great teacher and gives a lot of extra credit. You can still pass the class if you get a 48 on the mid term and final. Make sure you review the study packets and practice quizzes because those are basically the exams. Just go to class and study!
This is definitely a class where you have to work for your grade, financial accounting is extremely difficult and takes a lot of work and dedication. Professor Sueiro is definitely the best professor in terms of extra credit. If I were to take this class again I would definitely take it with professor Sueiro 10/10.
The course material itself is pretty difficult, especially if you have never been exposed to accounting. Sueiro does a pretty good job at introducing the material, but you'll be lost if you don't pay attention. Would've appreciated more hands-on examples of the concepts instead of powerpoints, but the red slides 100% help with the final.
I think the issue with many students for his course is that they wait last minute to complete the homework. For this course you need to have PATIENCE! The homework is very very long but if you do it days before it is due you will be fine. The quizzes are difficult but he gives a great curve that helps a lot. I recommend going to each class.
Honestly Prof. Sueiro is pretty great. Accounting is a tough subject and things might not always make sense when he's first explaining the concepts in class, but if you do all the homework and continue to practice on MyLab then you WILL understand it. He also gives a ton of extra credit to cushion your grade so work hard and you'll pass!
Sueiro is THE MAN. I dont know why people complain. Its a difficult class, but hes the best possible teacher for this course. Wanna pass with an A? GO TO CLASS, read the guided readings, and do the homework, and watch "Principles of Accounting" on youtube. Put in effort, and you'll pass. Take Sueiro.
Overall the class is tough and you get two tests for the whole semester. He gives homework assignment that is due every week with a quiz following it the next class period. The homework takes a long time to do however, they are online so they are not difficult to complete with multiple attempts. He also gives extra credit if you come to class.
Professor Sueiro is very caring, he gives tons of extra credit. He also curves the quizzes a lot. Thanks to the curves and extra credits I am passing the class. Be aware that this is a hard class, and requires a lot of studying. Also, don´t miss class, there is a quiz almost every week.
I BARELY STUDIED BUT HE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT FOR EVERY QUIZ AND ITS LIKE 20 EXTRA POINTS AND HE DROPS THE LOWEST QUIZ AND HW GRADE, HE EVEN HIGHLIGHTS THE SLIDES THAT WILL BE ON THE QUIZZES TAKE HIM!
Took his class spring semester and honestly, people who do not pass this class just didn't care enough. He clearly tells you the ways to pass this class and how easy it is to get just a C in his class. He is very lecture heavy but his lectures give you study guidance for when it comes time for the midterm and the final. TAKE THE PRACTICE TEST!
Rude, Condescending, always late, would rather talk about his Heat season tickets than the actual class. Most disrespectful professor I have ever taken. Genuinely unlikable person
This was honestly one of the toughest classes I've taken as a business major. He gives so much extra credit on the quizzes that it saves your grade. You really have to go to class and study because he flies through the slides. He can be kinda rude but you're better off taking it with him than any other professor. If you put the effort you can pass!
Explains accounting in very simple terms. However, there was not enough time to absorb so much info. in a short span. Nice Professor and very professional. Lots of extra credit given just by showing up. Highly Recommend.
As many others have stated, Accounting in general is not the easiest course. With that being said, Professor Sueiro is going to make this class as easy on you as he can. Professor is very understanding and very clear on what he expects. If you really pay attention and attend every class his lectures are sufficient to pass tests. I highly recommend.
Professor Sueiro was very knowledgeable, but was not very good giving feedback. The quizzes he gives are a basis for the test and are very useful, but if you got something wrong in the quizzes you won't know, and you may get it wrong again in the test, so you're not actually learning from your mistakes.
The class is hard. He is a good professor, but you need to keep up with the notes and the material because it is a lot. Take advantage of all the extra credit points he gives as well as the practice exams because they help you during the actual tests.
everything was clear from the beginning. extra credit poll questions in class give points towards quizzes. cheat sheets allowed for quizzes and exams. pearson mylab is used so textbook is technically required for the code. in my opinion he was clear and made the class simple, as accounting could be a challenging course. take him 10/10 recommend
Professor Sueiro is the best. I myself struggle with Accounting as it is a hard course, however Sueiro's lectures are awesome. He provides students with plentiful resources to pass and even adds extra credit assignments for those whom need it. As long as you put in the extra effort and pay attention in class then you will be successful.
Accounting is literally the worst, but he is prob one of the easier profs. If you don't pass the exams, then you have no chance of passing the class, even if you do amazing on the weekly homeworks/quizzes on mylabs. His lectures aren't really clear, but he is good at explaining 1-on-1 and is easy to get ahold of outside of class. A big headache tbh
His lectures are extremely long (almost 3hrs) but are necessary because of these poll questions over zoom that are extra credit towards his 5 quizzes, which boost up your grade like crazy. Homeworks are also long. He doesnt tell you what grade you have until the near end of the course. Not a mean professor, but could do things a whole lot better.
Accounting is not easy; there is no professor in this university that can change that. The only thing that saved my grade are the quizzes he curves and whatever motivation I have in me. The midterm exam is the hardest out of the three. Read the book, watch Tony Bell, Accounting Stuff, and vid lectures by apuzia. You need to study, alot.
He's a good professor honestly. Don't skip class because then you miss the lessons, which I think are the most important part of the course. Also, try to do your homework in advance and study for the exams. 3 exams in totals, several quizzes, and homework due on my lab for each chapter if I'm not mistaken. Book is not required, but helpful to study
This class was honestly pretty difficult but that's gonna be every accounting class. He makes it clear what you need to get in the beginning to pass this class. Go to class for extra credit points that help and studyyyy. Plenty of hw and quizzes to help your grade but the test is what matters. He's a great guy but to pass you are on your own.
This class was content heavy The difference with sueiro is that he tries to show you how practical accounting is so you are more excited about it. He is a very good professor with a 3h lecture and he will curve the quizzes but not the exams which is helpful. He does give practice for quizzes and exams. You need to buy pearson
Professor Sueiro is AMAZING! ACG is difficult especially if you've never seen accounting before. If you are unsure about majoring in accounting, he will give you all the confidence you need. He gives great advice and is very relatable. Practice exams (not for credit) but VERY helpful for exams. Follow his advice and you will succeed.
If you need to your first level of accounting this is the man you want. A lot of people fail accounting and its never the professor fault. Accounting is a difficult topic that you must take your own time to study and teach yourself, if you dont put in the time after class forget about it. Sueiro does a good job of giving you the resources you need.
ACG is always hard. However, Prof Sueiro offers lots of practice exams/quizzes that WILL help you pass this class. They have explanations and lots of examples. Lectures are long but he offers A LOT of extra credit for attending. Take him!! It will be tough but he will provide a lot of material to help.
Don't take this class. 3h long lectures where nearly 70% of the lectures don't even help you with the exams.
His class is 3 hours long so is hard to stay focused. He doesn't write the exams, so the questions can be different but the reviews & hw help. I believe that scoring an "A" is hard, but "B" is ez, since he offers 3% extra credit and 5% on a project that is an ez 100,& the quizzes are an ez 100 since you get many points for it if you attend class.
Not a bad teacher just a terrible class structure. Accounting is a terrible class. It's structured terribly and it's harder than it has to be. Most ACG teachers themselves will tell you how most of what you learn in the class is pointless because it's not terms you use in the real world (except Dividends, etc.) I passed by a thread.
I was honestly not a big fan of him. He is a very nice person and wants you to pass but was not very helpful. All the assignments are on Pearson and he never went over how the textbook is on it. So for the class all we knew from class was the slides that he would only skim over for 5 seconds. Also he doesn't send the slides so studying was hard.
TAKE HIM! ACG is a difficult class but doesn't make it difficult to pass. if u show up to class and answer the poll questions on zoom, he will curve each quiz you take by 30-35 points. he tells you exactly what will be on the exams and gives lots of study resources on Pearson. he gives a 3% extra credit opportunity which is helpful.
This class is tough no matter who you take it with. However, he drops your lowest quiz grade and offers PLENTY of opportunity for extra credit points on quizzes. Homework will be the hardest part. The tests are multiple choice and on Saturday mornings. He allows cheat sheets for quizzes/tests. He wants you to pass. Reading the textbook helps.
Attendance was extra credit. The professor gives out reviews for exams that help A LOT. This class will always be hard so READ the textbook and take the practice exam/quiz and you will do fine. I barely went to class and got an A, all I did was read the textbook and did the practice/homework.
I took this class in the summer, but i don't recommend it. This class is hard because is ACC. Take it in the fall or spring. This professor knows A LOT. He can give you examples of anything in the class. Always ready to answer questions and help u. I would recommend him. Tests are worth a big portion and the remaining is HW. he is a solid choice.
This class is hard no matter the professor and also you are going to have exams on Saturdays no matter what accounting professor you take. With that said, this professor specifically knows his stuff and is pretty chill. He gives you the opportunity to make-up those Saturday exams on Thursday in his office. You do have hw and quizzes weekly.
His class was hard. A lot of talking but most of the time it wasn't about the subject, making it hard to learn accounting. Accounting is hard to self-teach so be ready if you choose him. The assignments are manageable but I wouldn't say I learned in his class at all.
The hardest class I've taken so far as a first-year freshman. Great professor who enjoys what he does. Don't take the study guide for granted. Study as much as you can for the exams and quizzes. I got lower scores for the quizzes than for the exams, so study hard for quizzes. Online textbook, lecture powerpoints, and homework is through Pearson.
All he does is brag about how he's been teaching 20+ years and how successful his firm is; that's 70% of his lectures. He will discourage you if you're not majoring in accounting. The rest is him skimming through 60+ slides, spending about 5 secs on each. Don't recommend him, he doesn't care about the class. Weekly hw and quizzes and 3 exams.
Mr. Sueiro is very passionate of accounting, often recommending students to change their major preferably to accounting. His classes were long and the homework were unnecessarily long, and not a great material to study for tests, a lot of material to cover and mostly self study, also he gives your grades really late, almost 1 week after the final
He is very experienced in the field but I didn't find him to be a good professor honestly. There's also a lot of work (HW, quizzes, tests) and the HW doesn't reflect what's on the exam. Attendance isn't mandatory but I recommend to go anyways because it's a difficult course. All exams are in person and quizzes use honorlock!
experienced in his field, not necessarily a great professor. His lectures didn't help me much, and I had to rely on self-study to keep up. The workload is demanding, but that's more of a department issue. Accounting requires a lot of practice, and this course expects a significant amount of independent study regardless of who's teaching.
This class uses Pearson, and there are weekly tests and homework. The lectures are simple PowerPoint reviews, but he highlights material that will appear on the exam. I'd recommend self-studying the book and using Pearson's resources to pass this class. There are 3 exams, two in-person and one online. He gives very helpful exam practice questions.
The class is the hardest I've ever taken. We couldn't see our grade until the end of the semester. His lectures are just reading a PowerPoint and he goes extremely fast. Not good at explaining or answering questions. The only reason I passed this class is because i got the extra credit from attending each class and because of the massive curve.
Sueiro is a great professor and can explain hard concepts really easily. He is very passionate, gives lots of great advice and tells many great relevant stories during his lectures. Attendance IS NOT MANDATORY but it is HIGHLY SUGGESTED to pass this class. He gives lots of extra credit for quizzes. Study heavy, Weekend exams(3) and quizzes.
good professor, his lectures are powerpoints they are not mandatory but its suggested because each class he gives extra credit points towards the quizzes, exams on saturday(3), 2 in person and 1 online through honorlock. 4/6 quizzes are on honorlock too. homework is time consuming, project and a extra credit project. the class is Hard so beware.
This class is very hard especially if you dont try. Exams are worth 65%, quizzes 20%, homework 10% and its time consuming. There are 3 in-person exams and the average was a 60. He doesnt show your grade on canvas. He says if you get 50% on exams but the other categories with an A, you will pass the class. The final is through Honorlock at home.
While he is a nice guy most of his lectures consist of reading straight from a powerpoint with no explanations. Exam averages were 63% within the class. He does not answer emails so if you have questions good luck. Second time taking this class and only passed because I got an accountant to explain everything. Had to spend over 30 hours studying
