really good and easy teacher, explaines very well you have to attend everyday and take all the notes to do good in class she is very easy to follow. Her test can be kinda hard she has 3 test over 3 chapters they are not multiple choice but you do get credit for your work which is good. Overall i would recommend her.
She is a very good math teacher, she will help you understand everything as long as you ask the questions, she prepares for class very well. as long as you attend class every day, you will do good. I would recommend her!
So hard tons of homework. Clear as mud.
GReat teacher
Terrible teacher. Not clear at all. She didn't really teach. Just used the book. If you are teaching math you need to do more than fill 4 chalkboards with what we can read in the book. Homework was unreasonable. Don't take this prof if you can avoid her. DO IT. As a side note: she is kinda mean and has no sense of humor.
very good at explaining the subject
She gives crazy amounts of homework which are due each day. She lets you use a 3x5 notecard on exams. Her exams are easy if you did the homework. I have gone to her several times with questions and she has always been very helpful. Other than the ridiculous amounts of homework I would highly recommend her.
This has been the worst class I've taken.I spent all my time(time I could have used to study other classes or..sleep)doing hours and hours of homework that didn't solidify the concepts at all, leaving me no time to study the material. The instructor made a lot of mistakes in lecture and didn't know the subject.Don't waste your time with her for calc
This is by far the worst instructor I've ever had. The homework amount is insane. If you have any other obligations in life (work, other classes, etc) forget it. Excessive practice only works up to a point then you develop a resistance to learning. I feel dumber for having taken this class (and I like math). Avoid her at all costs.
The worst instructor I have ever had. Three or four hours of homework a night, while she taught us nothing in lecture. Plus, she assigns ridiculously hard, worthless projects due on the days of the test and final, leaving us with no time to study. This instructor completely stripped me of my love for math. Run far, run fast.
this teacher gives way to much homework there are like 100 problems due each day and she is boring and doesn't seem like she likes her job
Took this instructor for For Finite math. When asking question she had a hard time figuring out how to do the problems. Doesn't give good examples of the problems, and assigns lots and lots of homework and projects before each test.
Great examples used for what is going to be tested over as well as what is going to be on the homework. Be in cass taking notes and on time and she makes stats fun and easy. There is a good amount of homework but what its over you are tested on.
Great teacher.. No playing around though. Homework is necessary. She's more than willing to help if you ask. Nice to chat with outside class too. If you really want to learn.. She's a winner :)
very good teacher. good mood every day.She makes sure you understand the problem if you have a question.lots of home work but, useful.Explain's everything in the class and online as well. She expect your home work on time or no points.
She did the problems on the board beautifully. She broke down the problems and wrote down each step clearly. sometimes using different color pens for different steps :) any questions she will keep working with you until you get it. Very sweet personality too! Lots of homework yes, but in math its all for repetition. I enjoyed her class.
She gave a lot of homework but it was worth drilling it in. She gives out group assignments which I hated, but she overall taught me exactly what needs to be taught. I am disappointed I couldn't get into her class for 97 and now am paying for it.
She is a very good teacher. She makes sure every body understands what she is teaching. There is homework every night but they are short. Her test are only about 15 problems at the most
This class was not her forte. She would not review her notes before she came and taught our class, therefore, there were MANY times that she would teach us something, realize she was wrong and re-teach. It was very confusing. Plus she could be snappy and rude. I ended up relying on the book and ignoring her completely. Avoid her for this class.
Dont like the homework. A few times i felt that the test didn't represent what we learned all that well, but i got to give it to her i was ready for the final. She bailed the class out once for bad scores and i didn't like that. Overall good if you put the time in.
i hate math and she made it understandable and easy for me, yes she is picky about attendance and talking during class but overall i really liked her.
Without a doubt, she knows her math but with the insane amounts of hw, her lack of taching ability, and her sheer rudeness, she is no where near a teacher i would recommend. She seems to think that you only have her class and her assignments take up too much time. She is not a good teacher and i would make sure to stay far, far away from her.
Alot of homework and the self evaluations were a pain in the butt. Most times we ran out of time to cover the material so she'd rush through it. Most of my class, around 90% of the students met at the tutoring center to clarify everything because most of us were lost. The tutors were life savers or I would have failed the class entirely.
She teaches so that you can understand. And she makes sure we know the info before she moves onto the next section. Yes, there is a lot of homework, and yes she expects you to be in class everyday and on time. But that is needed to do well in a math class anyways. I would definitely take another math class with her!
Expect a lot of homework, but do the homework and should pass the tests. Will go over the homework everyday, but will complain sometimes about all the questions. Some tests are take home tests. Overall a good teacher.
Everybody complains about the homework, but if you do it - you'll do well on tests. She is a great teacher, explains everything very well. If you laugh at her jokes, she'll like you a little bit more. So overall, if you are pretty smart - take her.
I had her for math 96 in the summer. You're expected to attend class everyday and she hardly misses class herself. I like the way she teaches and she was very clear and willing to help. She can be rude at times but its whatever. We had homework everyday but it wasnt too much, for me at least. Bottom line i'd take a class with her again.
Im an honors student and ended up getting a 1.6. Her calc class is the worst math class ive had yet. The questions she puts on her test are things that you've never seen before even after doing the homework. do yourself a favor and find a different calc teacher.
The average test score in my class was a 71% which is below a 2.0 in her class. Even with doing the homework, there were types of problems on her tests I had not really seen. Self evaluations she gives ask questions that insinuate you are too stupid to be in her class. Very smart but should work in a lab or research center instead of teach.
She was an alright teacher. But if you actually have a life and other classes I wouldn't recommend taking her class. I had her for statistics and it was terrible. A lot of homework, plus she was a harsh grader. Her projects were also very hard Overall would NOT recomend.
Yes the class is tough, yes she expects you to be there, yes this is college calculus course. She can be confusing sometimes, but I am not sure that can be attributed entirely to her teaching as some of the material is confusing at first. Come in with a good attitude and be willing to work and you will be fine. I enjoyed the course. Good luck.
This teacher won't accept obnoxiousness, but she is great. She uses an iPad instead of a white board, and it's so much easier to take notes to. She will make herself available for a little extra help, but only if you've been showing up to class. Have had her twice, always get goods grades. Also, if you take her on campus, you can get extra credit.
GREAT teacher, love that she will take her time to help you understand the material. If you are trying she never has a problem giving you extra help. Homework almost every night and it is due the next day. She drops lowest test score and 3 lowest homework assignments. Would take her again!
She is GREAT. She uses a tablet to do notes, so instead of doing notes on the board, she does them on the tablet, and speaks to the class (instead of the wall) and later posts the notes online, it's wonderful. She also offers extra credit and special study sessions. Definitely take her for math 96, 97 and 98!
Cons: As previously stated, if you have a life do not take her class. Homework everyday and the grading is harsh. One mistake (ex. true/false) and you miss points. She keeps attendance...is this High school? Pro: Helpful when you have questions. She posts lectures online which she teaches using a tablet.
Her voice was real irritating which made it hard for me to listen to her lectures and I didn't really care for the way that she recorded her lectures.
I am not that interested in math but i loved this class She explains so well if you need help she will help you and as long as you do the homework you will be fine There is a lot of homework but if you want a good grade its worth the time spent Tests are straight forward i highly recommend taking her if math is not your best subject
She's an alright teacher. Uses Canvas for PDF Notes, class recordings, grading,et. Always present, organized, and quick to return papers. She was pretty flexible on the grading. She takes the time to point out the errors. Homework is a bit consuming so work ahead!!! Read from the chapter before taking her notes-she will hand out a homework calendar.
Math 106 with Mrs Anderson is the first class I failed. The book was confusing, the college changed books. But on top of that she was not very clear about her teaching. I took her for summer quarter so her paste was very fast for me to keep up. Grading very hard on homework. Test hard. She did not offer extra credit and did not allow late work.
Not a good teacher if you like to joke or are a veteran. Extremely disrespectful to students. Too much homework, rather tedious work. Dont skip or you wont learn anything. I really wouldnt recommend her for anything. Her explanations of the problems is inadequate, rushes through teaching material. And her voice is extremely irritating.
Alex is kind, and will help if you ask. I have a higher grade in this class than any other math class before. study before tests, and ask for help if you need and you will do quite WELL. she grades homework and there are about 20-35 problems nightly, no quizzes only 4 or 5 tests, shes understanding of scheduling needs. i would highly recommend her.
This is one of the worst Math teachers I have ever taken... DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She has a very irritating voice, offers extra credit. You can tell she really likes math although im not sure she enjoys teaching it, she asks for questions then gets upset if you ask a question that she feels has an obvious answer, she even belittled a student who asked her a question having a very sassy attitude. Not a good teacher at ALL
Teacher is not helpful. Makes you feel dumb for asking a question. Found her to be very rude! Not clear in lecture and expects a lot of homework. Test are extremely hard. Would not take her ever again.
I didn't want to take this class with her after reading all the bad reviews, but she ended up not being as bad as people say. The way she teaches is clear, and organized. she's there for you, if you need help, she'll stay before or after class. she gives credit for showing your work on tests even if you get the wrong answer.
She's AWESOME! Lectures are clear and simple. You have to attend class! No skipping. Exams are pretty easy. She will give partial credit too, even if the answer is wrong. LOTS of opportunity for extra credit and she is always available for help. Final is comprehensive but only had less than 30 questions. If you're nervous about math, take her!!
She is a good teacher. I like the way she grades, gives partial credit even if you got the answer wrong. So if you aren't good at math but you do the work and you try, you can still get a good grade. Am taking her again. She is nice, but very quiet.
Really good teacher, straight to the point. If you need help she will listen, assigns a lot of homework but it pays off at the end. Not a hard grader, tests are not bad at all just remember to study!
She actually YELLED at our class for asking questions about fractions, which we are already supposed to know. (Although many students are older and haven't taken math in many years!) She was so condescending that we were ashamed to ask any fraction questions again, or go to her for help. Tests were too challenging to truly test knowledge base.
For some reason this class was way hard. She had us do "group projects" which weren't really projects at all, they were more or less handmade assignments. She does give you opportunity to earn extra credit. I like that she does everything on the projector. If you miss lecture you're screwed. One sick day at the start of the quarter set me back bad
Don't slack on the homework assignments, as you must be prepared for the exams. Exams are easy if you study!
There's notes every single day, Exams on Thursdays, and a group project here and there depending if the class goes on schedule or not. I would never take her again. She gets irritated very easily, legit some students wouldn't even want to participate because of her attitude.
I really don't understand all the complaining about the way she teaches. If you want a tough teacher and expect to learn something with the money that you spent. Then this is a class for you. If you want an easy A and a fly by class. Look else where.
Lectures are pretty well organized, but they are so rushed that there is barely room for students to receive clarity during, but she does constantly remind us to ask for help during office hours and tutoring times. Tough grader, but, it's math. Homework is pretty much nightly, and tests are easy if you prepare. She gives so much opportunity to pass
Anderson is NOT a good teacher. She belittles students and scorns you when you don't understand something right away. She yells at students. Runs through the material too fast. Her voice is very nasally. I really don't recommend her AT ALL!
In her lectures she focuses on the simple math not the concepts. When you speak in class she belittles you. There is homework almost every night and she expects you to have done every problem completely right to get full credit. For the tests there is no review, its nothing like the homework, and everything has to be done her way to get credit.
She was nice most of the time, but when she would get irritated when there were no questions or when she felt we should already know something. So much homework ( book, reading reviews, self-evaluations, Group Projects and Exams) All papers are graded with extreme prejudice. Answers must be answered exactly her way,. Very difficult.
Professor Anderson was hands down the worst professor I have ever had at CBC. If you come in even a minute late, she makes it a scene. As well as expect about 50 questions to 70 questions of homework a night! She acts like you have no life and all you have to do is math. She's rude and everything is online and confusing. DO NOT TAKE HER! NEVER!
If you're scrolling through reviews and you're thinking, "Oh her average is okay I will take her." THINK AGAIN! That's what I thought and I have never met a more rude professor. If you ask a question she sometimes will be like "Oh you already know that. Don't ask again." or she will scream at you. She is very very rude and not helpful. DON'T DO IT!
She was a very tough person to talk to. She belittles anyone who has a question and that is very frustrating for a math class. She gives tons of homework anywhere from 30-75 questions a night and the next day she lets us put the questions we needed help with from that night's homework and she will say no we don't have time for that.
Very difficult person to deal with. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. She can't answer a question without making a scene. Tons of homework which I'm ok with but she is tough to deal and you are scared to ask questions because she makes everyone feel like a fool.
She's really good on lectures, explains really good but gives a lot of homework EVERYDAY day and pretty tough grader on test. But gives extra credit.
She is one of the better math teachers I have ever had. She is clear on her expectations and made sure there was enough time for review days. Anything she goes over in class will be on the test so make sure to pay attention, lots of notes. She wont always give you the answer, she wants her students to be able to figure it out but willing to help.
The exams were not multiple choice, however, the department final was multiple choice. The amount of effort she would put towards helping students was low. I am sure some students may like her, but I feel that there are better teachers in the math department.
I see a lot of comments putting her down but from what I see these people look like they normally give a 20% effort. There is homework every day but thats what helps you pass. She goes over the homework so you understand what you did wrong. Shes very strict about grading but everything she grades on makes sense. If you fail this class its on you.
Anderson is a great teacher!! She is super fast at answering emails and will spend time with you if you are not getting a concept. Like all math classes finite math is hard, but Anderson does good at putting only what she taught you on the exams. I took this class online and if you want a good grade you will need to put lots of time into it.
This class was taken on line, however it is mandatory to meet for quizzes on campus. Uses my math lab and need to purchase on line code. Homework assignment and quizzes are on my math lab. Professor checks in regularly and are able to ask questions. For quizzes she allows you to take notes and use them during the quiz.
Awful, she makes everyone feel stupid for asking questions, so everyone stays quiet. Dont bother asking for some sort of study guide for Tests, theyre really hard and the final is worded so awkwardly that its incredibly confusing. Plus she is tough grader. Everyone sooner or later agrees that she doesnt like students and shouldnt be teaching.
She was just evil ! Made my homie buy a stapler even though she had one. She wouldnt let you ask a question without you feeling stupid. (She got triggered when I asked a question) I definitely would not take her again.
GO TO CLASS. Shes a decent prof., but you must ask questions when needed. She will tell you in class when hw is due so pay PAY ATTENTION bc she hates repeating herself. There are only 4 exams which is nice bc you dont have to remember a lot, just study notes. No final/midterm. Projects & homework are hard. Grade is based on exams & projects.
Shes nice but sometimes she over-explains things and makes it too confusing. She does make sure you get the help you need when your struggling but my father can teach a lot better than she can.
Does not know how to adequately teach an online class through video. Her class is very test based in terms of your grade. This course caused unnecessary stress. Wouldn't recommend.
3rd time with her, 106 and WD from 107 to take another professor fell thru, stuck with again. Expects perfection with mistake-ridden notes, few recorded lectures did herself, & typos in tests. Hypocrisy at its best. Hours of study time and homework are worthless compared to value on quizzes. Wish the Prof in prerecorded lectures was my real one.
Absolute worst professor at CBC. She is not helpful whatsoever, and has no idea how to teach. Her difficult assignments are pointless and do not help the students learn the actual material that will be given on the exams. DO NOT take this professor.
I had this professor multiple times because she was the only option sometimes. I would not recommend you to take her. She does do lectures online which are sometimes helpful. I did the homework and understood it but when i did the exams they were a whole different level of difficult and she doesnt explain a lot of the things on the exams.
Nothing, she wasnt helpful at all. I'm mathematically dyslexic and wanted to know if there was anything I could do to get my grade up, and she said there was nothing, and was being very rude and told me that I should just drop the class.
She is a nice woman but her class isnt to full around. You have a video to watch everyday and theres homework on it Monday/Thursday. There are mini quizzes on Fridays. 4 chapter test and a final. A good structure to her class which is nice, you do have to put in work.
I would try to see if you could complete your degree with another class before you sign up for her. I struggled a lot and went to office hours often and I found her to be condescending and unhelpful. I felt like she was being difficult with me to discourage me from coming. Make friends in class and be ready to dedicate time outside of the class.
When I have a math class I always ask teacher or a professor for help cause I dont get along with math she was willing to help but when I was getting help I felt like she does not care if I pass the class or not Her grading is awful if you turn in your homework 3/4 days after its due you will get a lot less points which makes ur grade go up slow.
Anderson was a wonderful teacher who taught the material wonderfully. Attendance is incredibly important, don't miss even a day. She assigns homework once a week on the last day of class, and it is due Monday, however, you can do problems from the book (provided online for free) for extra credit, which you hand in before the exams. Very exam heavy.
You'll be okay if you watch her lectures, which can sometimes be close to 2 hours long per assignment. Easy and challenging as long as you watch her videos you'll be OK.
I took Math 106 online and I was worried I wouldn't do well because I hadn't taken any math in over 5 years. Class ended up being very easy! I'd be shocked if most people didn't do good in this class. Her videos provided great explanation as well. She provides extra credit but I didn't have to use any and kept my grade at a 3.9
This class was great. You get 10 late passes, and the homework isn't that hard. It doesn't take a long time and the quizzes aren't hard at all!
She didn't explain anything in a way that I could understand.
I honestly don't know why she has so many bad reviews. Just pay attention, watch the lectures, and ask her questions when you need help and you will succeed.
she was great, homework is optional but is put in as extra credit (DO IT). Very big on how she wants things done and she will let you know. Lets you use notes on quizzes and exams, definitely recommend taking her
One of the few professors I've had where the tests are easier than the homework. I took her course online and she was the only professor I've had where you would have to scan your homework and send it in online, with that being said there were multiple times where I felt like she didn't even look over my homework and just gave me a passing grade.
Most important thing there is daily assignments but really easy just skim text book for instructions and she is very understanding. she can definitely be on the stricter side though.
