What a fun instructor! Going into A&P I must admit I was a bit nervous because I heard about how hard it was, and while this semester was tough Mrs. Daemicke made me want to come to class every week. I couldn't help but to grow a new found love for the human body with her enthusiastic teaching! I can't wait to take her next semester

Professor Daemicke really worked with all the students to help us all understand the content. She slowed things down in areas that were more difficult. She also offered extra study hours!

This class has helped me learn a lot about the human body and Mrs Deamicke's attitude towards the subject has helped me look forward to learning this material.

Professor Daemicke is absolutely brilliant! She is incredibly enthusiastic and passionate about the course material. Her caring is inspiring. BIOS 343 is a content-heavy class but Professor Daemicke made this class very interesting so she made it fun to learn it all. Her exams are tricky in the sense that if you truly don't understand the content, you won't get the scenarios she creates for exams. Nonetheless, she is very helpful during office hours and is such a caring professor.

Yeah, she's great. Very friendly and of course knowledgeable about her field. Some professors give off a weird vibe about questions and can make you feel stupid for asking, this is the complete opposite of what Daemicke does. Tests aren't easy, but she gives study guide assignments that help.

A solid choice for Bios110. Super caring and sweet prof. Her class has good extra credit make sure to do all of them. Quizzes are a little challenging but if you study the slides and take good notes from the lectures they shouldn't be that bad. The TA's might make a few grading errors just be sure to check your graded work. Its not a blow-off class

The best teacher I have ever had in my entire learning career. Her care for students is incredible and you can tell she loves what she does. However, she challenges you reasonably and knows how to make you learn. To do well I suggest knowing all the assignments you need, do all extra credit, go to office hours & STUDY FOR QUIZZES, they're hard.

I don't usually do these sorts of posts and I am usually very introverted, but Daemicke is by far the most encouraging professor that I've met at UIC. Sure her quizzes can be tricky sometimes, but she does an amazing job of helping you prepare for future exams like MCAT and DAT. If you have the opportunity to take her, do it! You won't regret it :)

What an amazing educator! I wish I could take more classes with Daemicke and more instructors taught like her. I feel like I've not only learned a lot in her class, but also become a better learner. I feel more confident in pursuing grad school. She's also SO nice. It's evident that she loves teaching.

Professor Daemicke is a WONDERFUL teacher. She makes bio so fun! Lots of lecture slides but she makes everything understandable. She most DEFINITELY cares about her students. She responds to emails quickly. She tried to motivate her students. Most organized teachers I ever had. Weekly quizzes and applies what you learn to actual scenarios.

Dr. Daemicke is phenomenal! She is the nicest teacher I have had at UIC so far, and she really cares about the students. She's very knowledgeable, approachable, and kind, and her class makes me enjoy biology again.

She is a very fair grader and you will learn a lot in her class to help on exams such as the MCAT and others. Totally recommend this class to anyone at UIC in BIO.

She will alter the class if she sees a lot of students doing poorly. Online there was no exams just quizzes, she has a very clear criteria of what is expected of you to know for the quizzes.

I love professor dameicke. yes of course the class is hard, it's a 300 level biology course focusing on physiological systems, but professor Alex makes it attainable. tons of extra credit and drops two quizzes. she honestly is one of the best, most kind and sweetest professors i have ever had. Professor can be a bit rude at times, one time I said hi to her and she just rolled her eyes and walked away. I was perplexed and cried, but it's all good tho. Just make sure to study and do all the HW!! Don't give up guys!!

Bios 343 was the best bio class I took. It is very interesting. Dr. Daemicke cares a lot about students and very very passionate about teaching you and actually understand. Professor Daemicke's class has helped me immensely in deciding what I wanted to do after my four years of undergrad. I will forever be grateful for the knowledge I have gained from her as a professor. She is a gem and anyone who takes her throughout their time at UIC is extremely lucky! This professor, hands down, is the best professor I have taken during my time at UIC. It is evident that she cares about her students and about their education. I have not known of a professor to be so welcoming and inviting to their office hours and had a review session each week. Clearly, she cares so much and is very involved. I recommend 1000x!

Prof Daemicke is the only professor that seems energetic about the material that she teaches! Most professors are enthusiastic about their course but they are unable to pass on their feeling in the same manner. She is by far the best at displaying her love for animal physiology and it makes me excited to come to class!

While this course has a lot of material to cover and it can get complex, she taught it in an enthusiastic and understandable manner. The class was great, she cared a lot about how well we did through the semester. Her way of teaching is fantastic at least to me I've legitimately learned a lot.

Prof Alex definitely cares about her students. She makes sure to offer opportunities if we are not happy with our grade. Her assessments are difficult (make sure to pay attention to little details) but if you find a good study strategy you'll be set to pass with an A.

She is super sweet, and you can tell that she's passionate about biology. This is an intro class, however, do not underestimate the quizzes. They are mostly clinical based, and you must be able to apply them to real life situations. Lots of great learning opportunities in this class. Of course, extra credit is available per unit too!

The professor is very sweet and nice and gives 12.5 extra credit points. Only thing I didn't like about this class is the lectures are basically pictures barely any info like it would be hard to study. The quizzes are also not the easiest things however she does drop your lowest quiz grade if you take an optional quiz which is nice

I agree with the previous reviewer about the slides being mostly pictures, so if you want to review you'd have to watch the recordings to know what's going on. Quizzes aren't that hard you just really have to get the material, but its interesting so I didnt find it hard to study. Highly recommend attending the review sessions. She is very friendly.

Professor Daemicke is so great, she is honestly one of the greatest teachers at UIC. Her quizzes are very straightforward and easy if you watch/attend her lectures, she's very enthusiastic about teaching which makes it even better. If you watch lectures and really understand what she's saying, you'll have no problem getting an A in the class.

Instructor was receptive to feedback that students provided during the course and maintained constant communication which I found extremely helpful. I thought that the structure of the course material and the resources provided to us helped with understanding the more complicated parts of the course.

Professor Daemicke is very knowledgable and she made the concepts fun and engaging. She was always open for questions and her powerpoint lectures were easy to follow and understand.

The professor's lectures are super interesting. You can tell she cares a lot about the topics she teaches, and I think that makes a huge difference! I found all of her Unit Packets and other provided materials to be really helpful in preparing for the assessments. I think the assessments are definitely fair, and the topics are spread out well.

Her lectures are nice and she gives out extra credit. I scored Bs on all the exams and ended with an A take her.

Professor Daemicke is my favorite teacher. She continues to show her passion to teach students. She is always understanding and will do whatever she can to make sure someone feels heard and has all the help that they need. I really want to thank her for being the first teacher in my life where I genuinely felt on the same level as and not inferior.

I took BIOS 343 with Professor Daemicke in Fall 2021 and she is one of the best professors I had during my time at UIC. She is so nice and was always helpful. I enjoyed this class and if I had the opportunity to take another class with Professor Daemicke I would definitely do it.

Class is hard as she gives out too much material and expects us to know and understand by the time we take the quizzes and knowledge checks. I thought this class was going to be alright since all the reviews said that they got As and would take her again, but I realized they took this class online. It's not anymore. I have an A but I'll get a B.

Although the classes are content heavy, Professor Daemicke is always here to help. She will go out of her way to help you in any way she can!! I would 1000000% recommend her for any incoming freshmen because her BIG lectures feel like a small classroom. She asks questions, is interactive and always has the best attitude every day.

It is clear that this professor is passionate about teaching. Even though there is a lot of content to keep up with, as long as you put in the effort you will be fine. The best option for BIOS 110. Shes very kind and encourages everyone to go to her for help. Shes also very good at breaking down tough lectures into simple concepts. Overall a lovely professor to be taught by and will definitely take her other classes.

She is super enthusiastic about teaching her subject and makes you want to attend lectures every day. An excellent option to take for bio 110 and always makes herself available for office hours. Alex Daemicke is, in my opinion, a good lecturer. She respects her students, and responds to their concerns reguarding her class and the material that she presents. She is concerned when people might have problems, and is readily available to give them aid in their attempts to solve those problems. In my opinion, a good teacher and person.

I am not a science major so I came in with very little pre-req knowledge so I definitely struggled quite a bit with the content, however she has easily made me the most interested in science in my entire life. The grade weights are extremely favorable to the students(exams are worth 30% TOTAL). Make sure you take advantage of her review sessions.

She is a literal ray of sunshine in this swamp. I don't really need biology nor was I studying a lot, and still ended up with a B (could've gotten A if I took the final). The final is optional btw. I didn't go to lectures because they are recorded and attendance isn't tracked. Assignments and knowledge checks are easy. Exams are multiple-choice.

Daemicke is such an underrated teacher! If you truly want to pass this class with an A and put in effort you will get there. Quizzes are worth 50 points each if you do well in lab your grade will be fine! I prefer her methods over other bios 110 professors. Other teachers go much more into detail while this course is more general!

This is the best professor at UIC! Her exams are tough, but take your notes and follow her lectures and you will be good! Her office hours were also super helpful and she is so sweet and caring. She explains every topic in such an easy manner and I would 100% retake her. 2 group projects and 5 exams including the final (1-2 are dropped).

Daemicke was amazing. She makes it easy to pass the class, attendance isn't mandatory especially since she records her lectures. As long as you take good notes of what she talks about you will be fine. The labs are also pretty easy to pass just make sure you do alright. Her study guides are also useful.

Prof is super nice but be prepared for an information-dense PowerPoint. The best strat is to look at slides before class so you'll know what to look for during lecture. Mind-mapping notes is handy. The lab is relatively easy and if you need help you can ask your TA. Be sure to utilize her EC assignment opportunities. (one per each unit)

Prof Daemicke is probably the one of the best professors I had, what she says in lecture is very important for the quizzes. She also balanced the Animal Comparison Assignments, Knowledge Checks, and Quizzes very well so that there is cushion for your grades. Highly Reccomend!

Professor Daemicke is one of the best bio professors at UIC. This isn't a blowoff class, Just take notes on the lecture and study that and you'll get an A. there are 4 quizzes 1 final (optional) and one quiz is dropped. There are 4 unit packets and 2 animal comparison assignments that are worth a big chunk!

You're hit with a lot of information in the lectures but she posts practice quizzes and weekly outlines that focus on the information you need to know, 100% do them bc that is your key to a good grade in the class. her exams cover a lot so stay on top of the work but this class is super great! she gives out extra credit, does weekly review zoom meetings, and is super accessible outside of class. the group projects kind of suck because they are random groups, but still super doable.

My favorite instructor in undergrad. It is evident she loves teaching and she always tries to acknowledge the students' perspective. I love her use of drawing activities to help students learn physiological mechanism. This is something I hope to continue to do in graduate school. Her class has helped me become a better at applying content to life.

Professor Alex is so accommodating, gives out EC assignments every unit, always accessible. She hosts reviews almost every week. There are quizzes every 2 weeks, and the unit quiz lands on the 4th week of the unit. No midterm, and optional final to replace one of your quiz grades. Studying is needed to pass, review after EVERY class.

Prof Alex is AMAZING!!! by far one of the kindest and most caring porfessors i have come across. She teaches, and shes clear about whats going to be on her tests. you have to study in order to get an A but honestly, through hard work and her lectures you certainly can without a doubt. Great professor! The content we learned was not by any means easy, but she somehow made it so much easier to understand. You can tell she loves teaching and wants her students to succeed. Lots of opportunities for E.C. as well! The only thing I was not a fan of was the group project, but it was not too bad. Definitely take her class if you can!

Very dense in terms of content but she breaks it down very well without watering down the material. Lots of studying is required to pass but her grading policies are VERY generous and she even hosts review sessions every week. Truly an amazing professor and person who wishes to see students succeed.
