good lecute, alot of info, hard test
Lectures are very fast and tests are not on what she tells you to remember. You have to understand the concept to do good in this class and dedicate all your time!!! IT IS VERY HARD
WARNINGIf you have the option to have different professor, take the opportunity even if it delays your graduation. Easley is a decent professor, she knows what she's talking about however, exams are extremely difficult completely different material on exams than what she tells troy remember, At home learning needed for this course and professor
DO NOT take her if u have the opportunity to take someone else. Whats on the test is not in the lectures. 100+ SLIDES, VERY HARD CLASS and doesn't really know how to teach. not many extra credit opportunities. Failing one test basically determines ur grade for the class
Dr Easley will give you biology as if it was a story with a hilarious twist 10/10 professor
She's a really funny and nice professor but you really have to put your all into this course. Her class is very exam heavy and what you get on her exams basically determines your grade. You really have to understand everything to do decent on her exams. Overall, not that bad but it is a hard class. I would take her though over any other professor
HORRIBLE. Exams were extremely difficult and she seemed to have no knowledge of what she was teaching. Exams did not even closely reflect the material given and she gives no other grades except 5 point quizzes and 1 participation point per class. Wouldn't recommend to anyone she doesn't know how to teach and the entire class was struggling.
Although she is a nice professor from time to time and tries to make her lectures funny, this class is super difficult. She sometimes doesn't know what she is trying to teach and skims through 100+ slides per class. Tests are super difficult, and you need to apply yourself 100%. Don't be stupid and put in the work early, and you might have a chance
While it is evident she tries hard to make class engaging, she just doesn't teach well. She seems moody and contradictory as she even messes up her own words while presenting. Only a single EC point per exam, despite how hard they are. Attended all classes only to learn everything from Youtube and SI sessions. Content isn't super difficult, she is.
Very confusing. Wouldn't recommend it.
Goes through 100 slides per class without really explaining anything. Exams are worth 65% of grade and the final is 25%.
a lot of ppl dont like her lectures but i loved easley! she is very caring about you as a person and doe sher best to be funny and make the lectures not a complete bore. her exams are pretty easy as well and she curves very good. you are only graded by a few things so if you do bad on one exam...youre kinda screwed
1 on 1 Very sweet and caring. The class itself is lecture heavy and boring. Attendance is on Pearson and can do it at home but only right at the class start time. No homework given but there are quizzes about once a week and can be easy to miss. Tests are hard but she gives out scantrons so you don't have to get them.
I appreciate any professor teaching 200+ students and trying to help them understand. Easley cracks jokes and answers questions, but often mixes up concepts or mispronounces terms, making it hard to follow. Saying, "Just look at the slides" was frustrating. Dr. D saved me! Easley isn't bad but could improve by creating study guides.
This class is hands down the worst class I've taken. She goes through lectures so fast without explaining what anything means. Her exams are completely different from any material she teaches. She barely gives extra credit or any work that would actually help us for exams. Do NOT take her if you care about your GPA or well-being!!!
This one class made me change my major. You basically have to already know all about Biology 1201 before this class as you will learn barely anything. She clicks through a hundred slides without explanations or explanations that make it understandable. You have to spend all of your time studying for her exams as they are 65% OF YOUR GRADE.
If you have the option to not take her class, take that option. Exams don't align with the notes given and when asked what the class should study for the exams, only a snarky comment was given. Lectures are long and boring. If you do have her, good luck!
take this class if you hate yourself and don't care about your gpa. this is the worst class i have ever taken at LSU. she gives no extra work to boost your grade, if you fail one test your grade is basically cooked, and there's so much information being thrown at you at one time, you can hardly process any of the 8 million slides she is presenting.
tests are graded super heavily, counting a majority of your grade strictly on exams. limited help provided besides throwing your graded exam at you to look over. lectures are lengthy and confusing on material because she displays a completely different lecture. barely any extra credit (criteria only by word) do not recommend at all.
If you can avoid her class pls do. Her exams do not align with her slides, and the slides are the only resource you are given. She rarely answers emails, and isn't easily accessible. She does not give any help or study materials. Makes you buy a $250 textbook and NEVER uses it. She has also taught the wrong material MANY times. Please trust me!!!
Exams are heavy and tested on information from over 500 slides per exam. She would tell us the exams would be on the basics, but would actually end up with questions based on one sentence from once again 500 plus slides. Do not take her class if you want to prevent constant mental break downs!
Honestly one of the worst professors I've had to date. Gives no homework to help practice, quizzes with only 5 questions and then gives 50 question tests, super annoying about coming to class when she only reads off of slides - which she sends out on Moodle anyways. Her powerpoints are extremely confusing and reads too fast to comprehend.
tests were very hard and not based on general ideas from the slides, it was a lot of specifics and on top of that there were multiple times she gave misinformation and when she was corrected BY A STUDENT she had trouble understanding. she got better as the semester went on, but was overall there was not enough practice/review for the hard tests
Worst biology teacher I've ever had. She read directly off the slides and gave no insight on the actual information. Her slides were also out of order, so that made it super confusing. Her tests are super hard because she words things differently. No homework and just 1 quiz a week, so your grade relies heavily on your exams. Would not recommend.
I specifically took the pre-nursing section for my major, which you need an 80 to pass. Extremely hard to achieve with how test heavy this course is. Attendance is through Pearson textbook, which you must spend $100 on to even get your participation grade. Little practice, just reads off slides. Lectures are fast and disorganized. Take other prof.
Dr.Easley is a cool professor, however, the class is very hard and unorganized. She reads off slides the whole class and the exams are nothing like the slides. The main grades in this course are the exams. Overall, I do not recommend.
As she is "teaching" she glances at the slide gets an idea of what it is and rambles. If you ask a question, it seems that she doesn't know what she is talking about. Extra credit is ONE point per exam, (3 exams). She curves a lot, but only because everyone scores so poorly on her exams. However, NO CURVE ON FINAL. Do not take for your own sake.
DO NOT TAKE. ONLY GRADED BY EXAMS AND EXAMS DONT MATCH MATIERAL GIVEN. ACTUALLY AWFUL
Easley is funny and interesting to listen to but your grade is mostly exams. 1 quiz per week, no homework, and 1 bonus pt on each exam. Curves her typical exams bc no one does well (unless they've taken the same class or AP bio). No curve on the final. The tests are major application questions and not at all what she says in class or on the slides.
For an introductory class, she makes it very hard to pass w a B. I took this class a second time to get a better grade than a 79 for nursing school and that was a huge mistake. Her lectures are 100+ slides with little detail, opposite of the exam which includes heavy application. Often trips over her own words and will mix things up.Take diff prof!
When giving lectures, always makes really bad jokes and make topics more confusing. Adds useless additional info to power points. Will repeat the wrong information multiple times unless corrected and makes notes very confusing. May degrade you or your whole class if you do not participate. Good luck.
She is very disorganized, her class is entirely lecture heavy. She gives no homework so your grade is based on participation, quizzes, and test only. Very difficult class be prepared to learn on your own.
She was awful and hard to understand in lectures. She makes exam questions that do not apply to the context that are on the slide shows. Her slide shows were to long and had unclear and unnecessary information on it.
You will question your worth in this class and probably cry after every exam because her tests are all application so it's easy to get tripped up. All she does to teach is read off 120 slide PowerPoints from every chapter. Final exam is not curved and cumulative. For an intro class this was extremely hard and I felt stupid. Goodluck
I learned more from YouTube than I did from her lectures.
Her tests are so hard I can't even. I would study for days and weeks and still feel absolutely so stupid when taking her exams. You basically have to teach yourself everything and there's NO CURVE on the final.
To be honest she's not a very good teacher. Very funny, very sweet, and I like her a lot as a person, but she's not very good at teaching the material in a manageable way. Attendance was mandatory but there really wasn't any reason to go to class because the teaching quality is so poor. I survived this class by using YouTube and willpower.
She was basically late to her own final. Half of the class got their test like 10 minutes after the first half. It was very disorganized. You could study as much as you wanted but take the test and feel like you didn't know anything. It was horrible
This class offers very few extra credit opportunities and only curves regular semester exams. Very hard to do well in this class unless you have an INTENSE background of biology. The exams are very confusing and there aren't any study guides. If you take this class willingly, my prayers go out to you for the next 14 weeks.
She offers little to no extra credit/study guides, often fumbles and messes up what she is talking about, which is so confusing. It's one giant lecture of 130 slides each session, and very disorganized. She often says something "is super important," then it is the least relevant thing on the exam. Took AP bio for a 4, and I have a c :| NO CURVE
As a level one intro class, it should never be this hard. Especially considering this was the nursing section and you needed to get a B to get credit. You would think that she would have some lenient for these students. Extremely long chapters, too much content for each exam, and applications questi
As an intro class, this was terrible. Compared to other 1201 classes, our power points were more than 4 times as long as theirs. She is a nice person and can be funny sometimes however teaching at this level is not for her. I would not advise to take her.
She goes through an entire chapter which is like 180 slides in just one lecture and everyone is always so lost. She has to give like an 18 point curve and even with that everyone is getting C's and lower because almost everyone does awful.
If slide heavy was an option I would do that. Every lecture is minimum 100 slides and there's some that are 150 and she's literally speaking a mile a minute, borderline rapping. YOU HAVE TO STUDY OUTSIDE OF CLASS, YOU WILL NOT PASS IF YOU DON'T STUDY MINIMUM 10 HOURS A WEEK. She's really sweet but try to take someone else.
I like her as a person, she's really funny and nice. She will go over 100 slides in one class and tell us something is super important and it has one question on the test. The course is very fast and if you didnt take AP bio then prepare to be studying.
Although she was very nice, her lectures were so fast and hard to understand. I studied for WEEKS and the exams were pretty much impossible to pass. Final was not curved and was nothing like she said.
Professor Easley, comes off as understanding and makes it seem as if the class will be easy to pass. She's anything but understanding, the way she grades and never gives curves is quite ridiculous. She gives her students ZERO material to prepare for exams, her class is heavy lecture based. Didn't learn much and i don't think she knew much herself.
Overall, she is not a bad person by any means. However, she will put up slides that is COMPLETELY different than the ones posted, make tests with stuff we havent learned, and we only have 4 exams that is a heavy % of grade so if you fail one your basically gonna have no chance to bring it up from there. All she does is read off slides.
Waaay too many slides she rushed through every class. I studied HOURS and HOURS and tests were still crazy difficult. one test was curved 16 points and nobody made over a C. she doesnt know what shes talking about and def doesnt know how to teach in an understandable way. Things she said to focus on were not on the test. very unfair tests
Let's just say if I could give her a 0/5, I would.
This professor was the worst professor I had all year long she had lectures that were over 120 slides along that she would read and then click to the next with no explanation of anything. She assumed we knew everything before even going to the lecture, and overall, I learned nothing from this class. Don't even try to study because it won't help
Really hard class. Lectures every class of 100+ slides with online quiz once a week. Tests are impossible because of the amount of information and only given power points. Don't take this class, i had no chance of passing.
She reads off the slides in class and sometimes gets confused but overall the class was okay and she would clarify things if asked. She also curved a lot.
Average professor. Graded on quizzes once a week, 3 exams and a Final, and participation. There's no homework so your grade depends on the quizzes and the exams. New Chapter every class and slides were long. I had to study hard and attend tutoring to be able to get an A-. Definitely not an easy class but she curves and seems better than other prof
Although Dr. Easley is a nice person, her class is very difficult. Very long lectures, which she would rush through most of the time. I would voice record her lectures because she would say, This is a good test question, or This will be on the test, and let's just say that was not on the test.
Dr. Easley was an awesome professor, and I enjoyed her lectures due to the personality she would add to them. I attended many of her office hours where she was always willing to help. She offered extra credit up to one point for the 3 exams and final. There is no homework, so it is exam heavy but overall, she is a professor who cares to help you.
Tests are never on the material she says they will be on. I asked her for advice on whether I should drop the course or not, and she said, “I don't give advice. Figure it out yourself.”
This professor is the kind of professor that says a certain topic will be on the exam, and then makes the exam material anything but. She does not care for her students' success in the class. Since I was struggling in this course, I went to her asking for advice on what I should do to improve, and she promptly told me she doesn't give advice.
Worst professor for bio 1201. She doesn't know what she's talking about and reads off the slides.
Dr. Easley was a challenging but great professor! She's very knowledgeable about the subject but can go through the material quickly at times and jumble up her words. The class is weighted heavily on exams with no outside homework. Her sense of humor is quirky when she's going through her slide.
Her exams were nothing like her slides or what she tells us to study. Her lectures are very heavy with information so it's very hard to stay focussed and apply so much information. Considering she teaches Pre-Nursing Biology and you need a B to apply to nursing school a lot of people I know had to retake including me.
Take another professor if you can. There is nothing you can do to prepare for her tests, honestly. Even if you commit every single powerpoint to memory and read the textbook, you still won't do the greatest on her exams. Exam questions are extremely specific. Participation in class is mandatory. Tests are 90% of your grade. HARDEST CLASS EVER.
She post five chapters with 100+ slides and expect u to study all of the chapters and slides. She is ten worst teacher to take for bio and it was really hard for me to past her class and tbh I was really shocked when I past. Lastly what u study on the slides is not going to be on your exams
Taught way too fast and incredibly hard to follow along.
Dr. Easley is a first year professor. She seems like a very sweet person and her lectures were fun and (in my opinion) easy to follow, but her class was a mess. The material she taught and told us to study was never on the exams. The material on the exam was so specific and challenging that even if you studied the whole book, you wouldn't know it.
I'm currently retaking her class because of how difficult it is I have no other choice because LSU doesn't offer another professor for nursing bio 1201 I genuinely hate this class and would avoid it if possible.
I think she's a great person. But I take my first exam tomorrow and I'm NERVOUS, especially after reading these ratings. I don't even know how to study there is so much info. I'm really hoping I'm able to pass this lecture and test heavy class.
I had to basically teach myself the entire course because she flies through 150+ slides in one class. I spent about 20 hours outside of the class studying for the tests and the only way I got an A was because she had to curve them to make the averages passing. She was nice but not a good profesor for such a challenging subject for a lot of people.
PP slides come at about 100+ slides per chapter, you never know what to study. Besides the material already being generally difficult to comprehend, the excessive amount of slides and uncertainty about what to study definitely does not make it any easier. Her class is not worth the stress, you'd do much better with Gregg.
I switched my major just because of this class. I'm so serious. Stay away from her.
She knows the material but does not know how to teach it in a way for us to understand. Just reads off slides, will switch slides before I can copy it down, needlessly includes slides that she says “we do not need to know,” (so why include it?) goes through material too fast for me to understand. Extremely weird due dates for assignments.
Over just not a good teacher but she does know what she's talking about. I have to retake the class. The only thing that helps is quizzes she gives and random curves on test.
She is a really sweet person, but does not really teach. Class lectures is her going over the powerpoint and you're mainly graded on exams/quizzes. Curves/bonuses would SOMETIMES help. She also goes through the slides really fast and her slides would barely have info that would be on the exams. Ik bio is hard in general but take someone else.....
She's a sweet professor but she doesn't teach in a way that's comprehendible. It's true, 100+ slides total before exams. It's an overload of information, some you'll never see on the exam, though it may be “important” to remember. I'll have to take her class again because of pre-nurse requirement. Don't take her if you can, not worth the stress.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL AND RETHINK YOUR WHOLE LIFE!!!!!!!!! She does not care what you make on your exam. She RARELY curves even when the class average is a 59. If that doesn't convince you idk what will. I only have the final exam left and will have to literally make a 100 to pass the class with a c-.
I #hatemylife because of this class. shes the reason im changing majors. im sorry to all the pre-nurse people who have to take her. RUN!
She's great. She doesn't read off slides and knows what she's talking about. She gives open note quizzes due before class. There are 3 tests and a final. Each of the tests are curved by 10-12%. So if you got an 86 it would be 86/90. There can be up to 60 slides per chapter but she posts them. She gives TONS of extra credit on top of the curve.
I have been set on being a nurse since junior year in high school. She has made me contemplate my capabilities in a way I never have before. I know that it is not optional for nursing students but use Dr. D explains stuff, quizzlet, and GO TO THE S.I. SESSIONS. Do not rely on her lectures for the exams because she gets concepts mixed up.
Probably one of the worst professors I've ever taken extremely hard very lecture heavy most of the tests have nothing to do with what we learned.
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE TAKEN!!! DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU ARE NOT A PRE-NURSING STUDENT OR IF YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO TAKE THIS BIOLOGY!!!! VERY LECTURE HEAVY! EXAMS ARE VERY HARD. SHE DOES NOT PROVIDE EXTRA CREDIT OR NO HOMEWORK TO HELP! ONLY QUIZZES AND EXAMS! IF YOU FAIL ONE TEST IT IS HARD TO BRING YOUR GRADE UP!!
This class was the worst thing I have ever witnessed. Not only does she not teach well but she barley curves test and sometimes not at all. Even of you spend hours studying you will still not pass. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She is not good. While she has a nice personality not a good teacher. She makes the class so hard. She reads off slides but also says stuff not on the slides, and she talks so fast that it's hard to write it down. The tests are so hard; she gives curves, but they are still so hard. Overall, horrible. I would not take this class unless you have to.
I loved her, I had her the first semester she taught, no homework, test are easy if you go to class and study. Attendance matters
This lady has got to be the HARDEST professor I have ever taken a class from. She is so lecture-heavy, and the tests are nothing like what she says they will be. The only grades that you can receive points from are tests, attendance, and quizzes, so if you fail one test and don't go to every class, you will fail.
You can pass this class with a B or A if you go to class. The tests are pretty difficult and require a lot of studying but she curves every one. Lecture heavy, I recommend looking at your notes after class because its a lot. If your btwn easley and pomario take easley!!!!
I disagree with a lot of these reviews because most people don't study or know how to approach biology in college and blame it on the teacher. The lectures are fast, and it's a lot of info, which can be tough. She explains well, offers extra credit, and has open-note quizzes. The tests are hard, but if you study and prepare, you'll succeed.
If your an incoming student deciding whether or not to take her, I am telling you YOUS SHOULD TAKE HER! Easley is a good teacher. The only reason she has bad ratings is because some people come in and do the bare minimum and expect to get an A+. Read her textbook, take notes, study, and youll be fine.
Anyone who gave her a positive review are lying and pretentious STEM majors with superiority complexes. Do not take their word as truth. If you have to take this woman, pick a god and pray. Never in my life have I yelled at a woman like this. She does not care in the slightest about her students or the idea of not comprehending her material
Exams are based on PowerPoints. Not that bad just study the PowerPoints and practice problems. gives extra credit that helps a lot.
I disagree with the other ratings - Dr. Easley is a great professor. The lectures are fast-paced and packed with information, but everything you need to know for the exams is on her PowerPoints. If you study ahead of time and make sure you deeply understand the concepts, you'll do fine. I highly recommend her!
easley one-on-one is very sweet, however something is just not right. most of the class is failing due to how hard the exams are, with little preparation given by the professor. you can study the notes for hours and memorize everything and still fail. most of my classmates are on their 2nd time taking her, and i will have to retake her as well.
This class is terrible. She makes the test so impossible and so hard to pass. Do not take her if you have an option!
If you have any control over it, do not take her. During lecture she goes too fast and just reads off the powerpoint rather than explaining it. No matter how much you study, it is likely you will still make a 65 or below on tests. She does not care about her students passing. Her exams do not meet what you are learning. Curves dont even help. RUN
Go to class, exams and quizzes are a majority of your grade, and take lots of notes. She goes really fast and mostly reads off the lectures, occasionally giving an actual example. Learning catalytics is attendance and office hours for test reviews or questions. I wouldn't take her again because I'm sure there's a better professor for this class.
Dr. Easley is a really good professor. Shes pretty funny and makes good connectections to the material. She curves well, but the averages are normally really low regardless. Be prepared to study A LOT. You cannot pass the class without it. The first test wasn't bad, but they get much harder throughout the year and weigh really heavily.
If you must take Ms. Easley, you need to start praying to a God the first day of class. I barely passed, although I put in long hours weekly studying for this course. Multiple breakdowns over this class, moral of the story is do not play around in this course. if you are not studying and don't understand the material IN & OUT you will not pass. -1M
She doesn't give study guides and has you rely on her slides for exams. She has you do booth pre and post quizzes. Exams make up a lot of your grade, but she goes heavy with a curve. The biggest curve my class has was like 17 points. Exams are really hard, like studying 6 hours a day for 2 weeks and failing hard.
She completely ruined my self-confidence in my nursing major. I had to go to a different school during the summer to take this class. I will say the material is so much easier when she is not teaching it.
She moves very quickly and gives a lot of vocabulary. Gave me credit back for a quiz and very flexible
Not only does she talk faster than the speed of light, her tests are extremely difficult and are a very large percentage of your grade. You can study for weeks and still fail her tests.
she made me lose all my confidence in my ces major. and all science majors. i changed my major very early on in my freshman year because of her class. her tests are impossible and she makes you study 90% of the material but only 10% will be on the test. nice lady but class is hard.
She's not a bad teacher at all, and her lectures are engaging. Do all of the at-home quizzes bc it will impact your grade. The tests are weird though, because you think you did fine, then you see you got like an 80... so STUDY do not procrastinate and you'll be fine
DONT TAKE RUNNNNNNNNNNNN, will literally study everything and none of it would be on the exam. literally made me want to change my major. don't do it whatever you do. SAVE URSELF
This has got to be the absolute worst professor on this campus. DONT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL. Does not explain well, only reads off slides, DOESNT CURVE, doesnt make study guides or any sort of help like other professors do. Basically just don't take her.
I do not recommend taking Easley if you are a hands on learner. She doesn't break down lectures and go into depth for better understanding. She doesn't give curves, only participation grade is attendance & quizzes. Majority of your grade is exams and they ARE NOT easy, can study WAY ahead of time and still wont do good on the exam.
She is no help. Made me feel discouraged about my major. She just reads off the slides, and talks really fast. You have to teach your self everything. Not worth taking her unless you want to drop or fail.
Speeds through PowerPoints with little explanation, doesn't review material for tests, can sometimes be short tempered.
As a person she is pretty nice, but she goes through a chapter way too quickly and expects everyone to know what they are doing. Her exams are worth 62.5% of your grade so if you fail one exam it is extremely hard to get your grade back up. This is a class that you basically are teaching everything on your own.
She is a sweet person but in her class she like rolls through slides a million miles per hour. There is no extra credit and even if you study each slide and know it by heart it still won't be on the test!
When I first went in class she seemed very nice. BUT DONT LET IT FOOL YOU! the class is actually terrible. If your nursing they say you have to take her but do ALL you can to change it. She is extremely test heavy and test are BS. If you dont do good on the first test dont waste you time DROP. I went all the way to exam 3 to get a 50 F. BEWARE!!!
Very nice lady! VERY STUPID TESTS! If your nursing you can take a diff proffesor if you have high ACT score TALK TO YOUR ADVISOR! PRAYING FOR YALL NOW!!! GET OUT WHY YOU CAN!! if anybody said this class is fine , they are lying.
DO NOT TAKE HER! This was my second attempt in her class, and because I know I'm not going to pass, I have to switch majors. Sad because I really wanted to do nursing and all. SI conflicted with my schedules and I couldn't go, but I heard from some that they aren't worth it. You're basically on your own. Proceed at your own risk, and Good luck!
Here's that review you are looking for. Dr. Easley is good person, but bad professor if you are visual or hands-on learner. The exams are worth 62.5% of your grade so if you fail one, you have to work extremely hard to get your grade up. I had to do this. I got a 69% on the first exam, then 81% and 83%. IT IS POSSIBLE, but choose someone else.
I would literally not TAKE this class. i repeat, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She only reads off the PowerPoint, and the test are LITERALLY NOTHING like it. However, she is an easy person to talk to but when it comes to your grade dont even bother. just simply dont take this class.
Easley herself is funny, kind, and accessible outside of class; however if you are looking for more leniency with your grade take someone else. Most people on here don't understand the concept of knowing the material before you get to class and then going to the lectures to enhance your knowledge. you will not learn all the content within 50 mins.
I really enjoyed her as a person and she made the lectures entertaining, but she had a hard time explaining all of the information well despite it being obvious she knows what she's talking about. I studied for three weeks, went to study sessions and all of the lectures!! I wouldn't recommend to anyone going for anything other than pre-nursing.
DO NOT TAKE HER IF NOT BIO/PRE-NURSING. She takes attendance every class by using Pearson so show up to every class, not only to get credit but also to hopefully retain some info. She goes thru a chapter a class + it's just way too much info. No study guide for exams + the exams are so hard genuinely no matter how much I studied it wasn't enough.
Worst professor I have had so far. Quizzes have such a short window to complete, with little to no warning. Tests are hard and worth most of your grade. Takes attendance in class with Pearson.
People make her sound worse than she actually is. I think it's mostly people not prepared for college level courses. She still isn't great but she is not as bad as everyone says.
DONT TAKE HER. she's a very sweet person but her class is really hard, and you have to know every little detail in order to make 50. Studying won't help miracles will.
I've never struggled so much in a class. No amount of studying will even help you unless you were the high school valedictorian. If you aren't religious, pick one and start praying.
Don't even listen to these people trying to say she's a good person, because no good person would put you through hell with no remorse! You're not getting above a C so honestly don't even bother, the tests are absolutely ridiculous. If you want to fail a class then take this one. I studied for weeks in advance and passed 1 exam, just don't bother!
She's a great person, but god this class is impossible. So many people in class so people talked over her and she would just stop teaching. I haven't met a single person who gets higher than a low C on any tests. she reads off the slides so taking notes feels pointless
She is one of the worst professors I've ever had. If you're Chemical Engineering and this is the only bio you have to take DONT TAKE HER, you have hard enough classes as it is. She skims her power points in class, you feel like you're not absorbing anything. This class takes up so much time for no reason.
went to class everyday, took notes, studied a week in advance... went to go take the exam and NONE of the notes that she gave us and NOTHING I studied was on the exams. she also tells you that you dont have to know stuff but TRUST you do have to know it
For her exam, you must know the material inside and out. Do not rely on her when she says, "This will not be on the test," it will be. Test averages are never more than 60%, but she does not do any curving. When hearing about other BIOL 1201 professors, you will see she is unnecessarily hard. Taking this course will tank your GPA and mental health.
10% of your final grade is open note/open internet untimed quizzes. If you do all of these it can easily bring your grade up a letter grade verses if you don't do them. She teaches from power points but says more than what's written on them so pay attention. Also gives extra credit. Overall not hard to get a passing grade if attend class.
I am normally an all an and b student but her class absolutely killed me. All she does is read off the slides and when you ask questions she just repeats what she says even louder
If you have other options, definitely don't come here. Clearly, I don't, so biology is my life this semester. I spent a lot of extra time outside of class to get an A+. Her class isn't very helpful because she just reads the slides. The exam will include content that hasn't been covered and detailed. The only good thing is curve grading. Stay away!
This is my 2nd time retaking this class and I still ended up barely passing I ended up teaching myself the whole time in this class due to the lack of information that was given through the chapters and even that was a lot honestly to save yourself some time look at DR.D. She's a heavy grader due to her testing weighing so much and her curves trash
All i can say is that im gonna need to see a psychiatrist after this class
This class is a lot of material and require that you study outside of class. She explains topics quickly and thoroughly in class. If you take the quizzes outside of class on time, it will help your grade a lot! She is more helpful in a one-one setting. Exams are from the key concepts, study and you will be great!
This class is extremely hard. There is often material on the exams that she barely goes over and expects you to know. If you have another option, take that course! Do not take her as your professor!
Although attendance isn't technically mandatory, I recommend going. There might be moments while going through the slideshow presentation where she'll say something won't be on the exam, but it oddly enough makes its way onto the screen at himes.
Super hard class, very lecture heavy and based a lot off of the slideshows. Very nice and funny teacher, but the tests are so difficult even if you study for weeks in advance.
Attendance is a big deal, but if you go to the exam study sessions during optional class days, she's way more laid back. Exam material can be ANYTHING from the lecture slides, but there are opportunities for extra credit, and exams are slightly curved. You don't use the textbook, but you have to use the Pearson software for attendance checks.
Spent the semester being told what would be on the exam, only for none of it to appear. Lectures were just her reading the slides out loud with stand-up comedy breaks instead of teaching biology. Grades like she's teaching med school, explains like she's doing improv.
She reads off of the slides the whole time and gets side tracked very easily. I would advise reading the slides instead of trying to understand the lecture because you get genuinely more value if you try to understand the material yourself. Overall wouldn't take again
The exams are ridiculous!! you'll need to study every single day and sometimes that doesn't help. I passed solely by the grace of GOD. when you think you did good on the exam you get to find out you FAILED. The exams have loads of trick options and the questions are ambiguously worded. Don't feel bad if you have to take it twice cuz most people do
Dr Easley was honestly not as bad as people say she is. It definitely is a time commitment so be prepared to study a lot. You get out what you put into this class. My best advice to you is go to her office hours and talk to her about the class. I did not do this but I wish I did and would have saved me lots of time.
Class is mandatory even though the material literally cannot be learned in class because it is presented too fast. Biology is a hard class to teach and she is about as useful as a talking powerpoint, cause that's all the lectures are.
