It was her first time teaching this class, and although she cared about her students and was enthusiastic, her knowledge of the subject was low. During classes, she would just read off ppt slides and barely go through practice questions, which is what she should have done to help us succeed. Pretty much had to self-teach myself the whole course
Good prof, clear explanations, cared about students
Alex is very friendly and conscientious of her teaching. As previously stated, this was her first term teaching. Given zero teaching experience I would say she did a fantastic job. Assignments were fair, midterm/final was fair. Lectures could have went better, BUT I did see lecture notes on her class slides so she attempts to somewhat go off-book.
She was very helpful during her office hours and was clear in her explanations during class lectures.
very nice prof!
Very nice prof, really likes her students and cares about helping you as much as she can. Should probably do more examples in class but does her best to explain everything in simple easy terms. Tests on things she states in class so go to class!
Really nice prof! You could tell she really cares about her students. Midterm and exam were fair. Given that it's her first time teaching, I can say she did a pretty good job.
Horrible proff, stuck with her in equity as well!
Horrible class! Whenever you ask questions, she always don't know what to answer and will tell the whole class that she'll look into it more, and she will never discuss it in class again. She also just read ppt and not discuss enough exercises! YOU HAVE TO DO A LOT OF SELF-STUDYING! Class is frustrating! She needs to teach not read!
Attending class is pointless. The class consists of Alex reading the publisher made powerpoint. The only way to learn is through self study. Avoid if possible
Horrible prof, avoid her as possible !!!
She is very nice person, but her teaching style is not the greatest. This is a self study course in which I read and taught myself from the whole txtbook. Do as many practice examples as can so help teach concepts to yourself. Classes were pointless to attend. Exams I found long and some what difficult, defenitly do practice questions
She doesn't teach things correctly the first time and she always makes mistakes in class. One of the worst profs I've ever had. She's nice but terrible at teaching
Awful prof. She literally adds zero value to the course. She reads publisher slides in class, copies publisher questions from the text and uses the publisher test bank for exams. Not a single component of the course is modified from the publisher material. No practice exams are given (that requires work). Treat this as a distance class. Avoid.
This may as well been a self taught course. Every other topic she would say "I'll leave this to you to read at home" Was not prepared for class and had to teach herself examples Did not prepare class for midterm Very nice person, but poor teaching ability
She is a nice person but what she taught in class was really useless. It seems like a self study course for me and she always absent for class without notice (5minutes before class or even 20minutes after class begins). Lab is more useful than lecture.
Good ACCT prof, she gives good examples and explanations. Her tests are fair and you know in advance what is expected of you. Overall would recommend to students looking to learn and walk away with a good grade, btw, class had a B average.
Super helpful, wanted her students the best they could do. I would take this course again. Always well prepared us for midterms and finals. Often gave us practice questions which were very helpful.
Very good lecturer and super friendly with students! Exams are tough but fair. Make sure you know the concepts inside and out, dont bother memorizing anything cause there will be many different things on the exam.
Must attend class be able to pass, and of course do as much as practice as possible. Exam is relatively more difficult than homework. Be ready to work for it in order to pass. She is really nice and fun as well.
Really good speaker and very thorough when explaining and will simplify concepts clearly. Biggest piece of advice: STUDY AND PRACTICE THE TEXTBOOK. It's crucial that you spend time to practice the accounting material and know what's coming. She didn't prepare much for review so you gotta do it yourself. Warning: Final is WAY harder than midterms.
Awesome prof, clear english, comfortable environment for questions. It's an accounting class so you'll have to study, if you know the major concepts you'll do fine. I recommend getting David's, got me a pretty easy B+. Similar to 1100, you get a cheat sheet for the midterm and final.
Does not know what she is talking about. Reads from lectures prepared by the textbook staff. Ask a question that deviates a little bit from the textbook and she cannot answer. Sweet person though. Best advice, find a different prof.
She doesn't seem to have the greatest grasp on the material. Her biggest issue is she wastes so much time. She is working on it but still is nowhere close to where she needs to be. Her class would be more valuable if she didn't lecture altogether and just did practice problems. She is not great but significantly better at going through problems.
Honestly, she's absolutely awful. Her lectures consist of reading directly from UMLearn providing no value at all. She frequently cannot answer questions asked by students as if she doesn't even know the material herself. You know those prof evaluations given to us? I actually took time to drag her instead of quickly putting 6's like I usually do
Everything you learn will be self taught from the textbook. Tests concepts not focused on in class. Usually doesn't know the answer to questions, and says she will have an answer for next class. Not a hard marker, but most accounting students say their worst grades, regardless of the class, come from her. Avoid if you can!
All good reviews are because Alex is a nice person, and you can teach yourself the intro classes with practice questions. As soon as classes get more advanced, she is impossible to learn from! Doesn't know the material, can't answer questions, doesn't answer emails/ post final exam marks, and uses only textbook generated questions/ slides. Avoid!!!
With managerial, Alex starts off with easy assignments, and the midterm is easy - no surprises. Then after she realized everyone did well on the midterm, she told the class that we were above average, and that we may be curved down. So to do this she made the final impossible to do good on - at best you'll get a 60 on final and finish with a B
Really enjoyed the way she split our 2.5 hour class into lecture and practice problems. Found the problems we went over in class to be way easier than any of the test material so be sure to do all the practice problems too.
Make sure to only ask very basic questions in class. Pretends to add value by reading publisher slides and adding filler words to make it seem like she knows what's going on. You might as well just delay taking this course until someone else is teaching it.. because chances are you won't do well and won't learn the course properly for your CPA.
As someone who does every practice question, in accounting classes you can usually get by fine with a sub-par prof. However the marking for this class was very inconsistent, there were few part marks and if you didn't use the method that matches the publisher's answer key, you probably wont get the marks, regardless if your method makes sense.
Doesn't teach at all! Literally reads slides only and does practice q's. Only useful for Practice Q's done in class and sometimes she would skip some of them bc the class feels tired from the 1.5 hour straight lecture...... Read slides yourself, read text, do q's. Nothing note-worthy during lectures. 0 prac midterm. Get assistance for prac q's.
I hope you're able to learn from reading a textbook, because she certainly wont contribute anything more than it does. She comes across as unprepared and non-knowledgeable. I would avoid if possible.
Just reads the slides and marks toughly
Avoid this prof if possible. She literally reads the slides and the few examples she does in class are very basic and don't reflect the difficulty of the textbook / assignment questions or questions on the exams. Does not explain things well.
TERRIBLE prof. Does not explain anything well. In-class problems are already in the notes and she never does complex problems. Each chapter is basically a self-study because all she does is read off the slides. In-class examples and even the recommended problems do not accurately represent exam Qs. Very nice person but terrible at teaching.
Mostly just reads the slides but does do a lot of practice which is helpful. At times she was hard to reach by email and others she answered right away not sure why. Overall she new what she was talking about and the exams weren't brutal. Often got to leave class 15 min early so that was a plus!
This course was really tough in my own opinion. She just read straight from the PPT which was not gonna be helpful for your exams. Try to do as many practice questions as you can until you master the concepts. That is the only trick for you to succeed in this course.
Adds no value to the lecture! Avoid! Needs to be more engaging with students! Painful class to sit through as she reads power point slides word for word which shows her inability to teach and lack of understanding in accounting
No reason to go to class since the only thing she does is read straight from the ppt. It's doesn't seem like she does any prep for her classes since she's incapable of discussing things unrelated to what's directly on the slide. Class averages under her are low, and exams are difficult. Would not recommend unless you have to take the class.
Going to lectures is incredibly pointless, she just reads off the PowerPoint slides verbatim. Doesn't give full marks on assignments but doesn't provide feedback on why. Exams are incredibly difficult for no reason and don't cover the material emphasized. Avoid her classes if you can.
I would not suggest anyone taking this course with anyone. I dont like her teaching skills and the way she makes exams.
Worst prof I've ever had, exam questions aren't too terrible but the amount of questions within such a small amount of time is absolutely impossible to complete. So even if you know the course material well, it probably won't matter that much since you won't have time to finish the exams.
Took online and it was horrible. There was absolutely NO teaching component, we were just told which textbook chapters to read. I taught myself this course and when I emailed her a question she replied once and when I replied with further question I got no response. The midterm was impossible to finish as it was way too long for a 2 hour period.
Worst professor I have ever had in my three years at Asper. During COVID she didn't answer one of my six emails sent to her, and I taught this course on my own. She legit should not be a professor because she does not care at all about her students and does not answer emails about how to do a problem. Wish i could rate her 0. Disgraceful!
I had this prof for both mandatory accounting classes. She's a nice prof and makes the lecture material seem so easy as if it's common knowledge but the exams are unreasonably hard. While textbook may seem easy, they throw in extremely difficult questions that you have never seen before in the final. Bad class.
She's a great prof that cares about her students and wants them to do well. Explains everything really well and easy to reach outside of class, the lectures are important being that's where she explains concepts in depth and answers a lot of questions. You are only graded by three things: online assignments(20%), the midterm(35%) and the final(45%)
Managerial with her was very tough. The lectures seemed pretty easy and many of the practice questions were similar. But the midterm was hard and the final was very hard and extremely long. You need to practice doing the hardest practice questions and doing them fast. Taking accounting with other profs may not be much better but she was tough.
Great prof, explains everything really well. Goes a bit fast in some parts so try and pay attention. Online assignments are basically a free 20%, but you have to buy the textbook to do them. Textbook is really only useful for practice questions.
Dry. She tends to just read from the slides. Her tests are tough so be prepared. Would not take a class with her again. I like accounting and she made me dread this class.
Somehow managed to make a distance ed course terrible. She seems nice enough, but her final exam was insane. Take this course when there is a common final, not in the summer when she just makes the final.
it was online class & there were 'problem solving" lectures once a week but no actual lectures. Material was posted on nexus and we were expected to study by ourselves. Also to add she made worse excuses than students to not take that once a week lecture. Sometimes she had technical problems sometimes she could'nt speak Save yourself !
Only went to class to be polite, read straight from publisher slides, graded the midterm extremely hard, seemed more lenient with the final. I'd avoid if you can, don't feel like it'll help me out on a real audit at all based on her teaching style.
I took ACC 1100 in the winter term (online) and it wasn't as bad as everyone else here says IMO. she's nice but her lectures are definitely on the dull side. the in-class problems help and if you do enough review and practice you should be okay, but the exams are definitely difficult.
Tough grader, taken course 2x with this exact prof, take this course is you're okay with a GPA decrease. No teaching material, just PowerPoint slides that don't have anything to do with the exams, which are worth an insane amount of your grade.
i dont think she is as bad as people say. it is a very difficult course but as long as you do the provided practice q's should be ok. i went to her multiple times for hw help and she was always super nice. the final was tough because of how long it was, but there wasn't really anything surprising on it.
the exams are the hardest i have ever has to take in uni.
She looks nice and patient. But I really can't accept her way of lecturing. This is the worst lecture style I have ever seen. I learned all of this course by myself finally.
Alex is a very sweet and knowledgeable lady. Unfortunately she is not capable of being a prof and delivering her ideas clearly. As for her exams, they are very difficult and almost not possible to complete in the time given. She is incredibly tough when marking and won't give you full marks if you don't show your work, even if the answer is right.
Her lectures were easy to follow and she explained concepts well. she was super helpful if you had a question. She followed the textbook pretty closely so if you missed a lecture you could use the textbook to learn what you missed. She also posted the lecture slides so that you could follow along. The course itself was pretty easy.
Doesn't know what she is teaching. She is just reader! Her slides doesn't contain any concept to do questions on your own. She doesn't know answer to any of students' question. Make a lot of mistakes while teaching, when students let her know, she just says oh sorry you are right. Like what! Don't waste your money and time, choose wisely.
I liked Alex this time around. Sometimes, she makes mistakes and doesn't really answer questions thoroughly, but she tries her best. Make sure to do the many, many in-class exercises and revise after every class. It's not a difficult course, there's just a lot of material so be ready to put the hours in.
Mistakes in all of her material, too lazy to fix them. Had to learn everything myself as she reads from slides and doesn't know the content she's teaching. If you have any other options for a different prof, I would strongly suggest not taking her class.
Alex was a very good professor, I think the hate towards her is misdirected because accounting is generally a difficult class. She took her time to thoroughly explain material and concepts so we could understand on a basic level.
Late rating but, you'll experience her class and wonder which genius gave her the green-light to teach. She's genuinely a walking bag of rocks with a ego that doesn't belong
After experiencing her class I wondered two things. Which genius decided to green-light her to teach. And how can someone be disliked by so many people and not be affected.
She has no soul, not saying this sarcastically.
Some professors will show you that it doesn't matter how good they did in their field, if they can't teach, they can't teach
Avoid she's clearly only in it for the money
If she's reading this, I hope she knows she's walking this earth with a huge bag of negative karma. Doesn't wanna teach but wants all the money that comes with it. This is people's money at stake!
I didn't believe in demons or anything like that until I encountered her
She just reads off like a bot
She stinks
Avoid her at all costs
She's evil and I'm praying on her downfall
I believe she was bullied in highschool and is now taking it out on us.
She's in a lot of people's top 3 worst prof's list. And I'm confident she's in zero top 3 favs lmaooo.
Most people self taught themselves, she's just there as a mascot I guess
She'll never be a good prof
Her entire game plan is to apply to teach at a university, prepare the most basic ai slide (most likely copied from another teacher) and do absolutely nothing but yap from there.
She's not human. A mix of expired ego and a false sense of belonging
I heard from a friend at the uofw that she's evil. that half the class failed and she caused so much unnecessary trouble that the staff had to personally tell her the chill out. Fast forward now she's just a husk of what I was told. But I can still see those remnants of her evil prime. She's truly a sad sight to see, perhaps not from this world
This is her story. She did well in her field. Now she wants easy money. She applies to be a prof even tho she can't teach. Then when she's hired she yaps over chatgbt slides the rest of the semester
I would walk over hot coals if it meant she has a miserable year for all of 2026
I felt like ending my life dealing with her. I wonder how her kids must feel.
I would bing watch a show where a contestant has to live with her without losing their mind for a million dollars.
Every now and then life throws you a walking headache to teach you patience. But people seem to forget you can also become one yourself, so you should self reflect just in case. And I can promise McMullen never did any self reflection in her entire life.
Avoid her, save yourself from her
She's not a good teacher
Pick someone else or take a class next sem if it means avoiding her
I'd rather be stuck in a room with Dahmer
I think she's not human
Nah just nah
I mean don't take my word for it, look at the rest of the reviews…
