Professor Springer is an amazing instructor. Her class is challenging but she is always willing to help out her students. This subject was nowhere near easy so attendance is IMPERATIVE but not mandatory, you have quizzes I wouldn't recommend missing a class EVER!! She's the best! Thanks for a great challenging semester-Marissa
Sometimes is hard to understand because shes German, but she shows cool movies. Read every chapter in the book or the tests will be another language.
The material is a lot to remember. There was a quiz every week as well as homework due online every week. The homework would take too long to complete so I recommend she cuts those down a little. She had a great attitude and helped us figure out the problems as much as we put into it. I got an A but worked hard to achieve it..
Her lectures are very vague, you would have to rely on the book more than her power points
Professor Springer is a great instructor, her lectures are clear and she tries to make the content relatable. She gives pop quizzes, written homework, exams, and extra credit but she is a fair grader. She's very funny and makes all the content seem interesting with jokes and interesting videos. If you take her class you will have a good time!
Make sure you're on time for class, she gives random pop quizzes the first 5 minutes of class, expect short essays, tests are easy if you read the chapter. She gives extra credit. I came in to this class expecting it to be boring, but she is an excellent teacher. She makes sure her lectures are clear, fun, and easy to comprehend.
This class is challenging and you have to put a lot of effort into it. Professor Springer is a great teacher I look forward to taking other classes with her. Make sure you stay on top of the lectures, homework, quizzes, exams, and study hard.
She is a wonderful teacher who makes an effort to learn from the students! Stats is not an easy class but she explains things very well that makes it easy to understand. Quizzes are at the end of every chapter so they are not pop quizzes you should realize when they are.
Kind, happy person! Really cares about her students. Skilled teacher. Creates friendly environment, treats students as adults. I loved her class even though the subject was tough. Would take her class again!
Okay, she does give extra credit don't miss a day. She is very funny. You have questions about the homework, lecture, or slides she will clarify. Would recommend this professor.
Amazing teacher! She curves EVERYTHING, but don't let those curves get you lazy. Do your best and you'll pass :)
Second time taking her. It isn't the teacher it's the subject material that is difficult. She has improved since the last time I took her class. She started to utilize Blackboard with step-by-step tutorials, which really helped. She has a great personality! She curves your midterm, HW, quizzes, and Final!
Professor Springer is amazing! She teaches in a way that you can actually learn from! She does ALOT of example problems on the board and goes through all of the steps. She just knows how to teach math in a way that makes it simple and easy to understand. I highly recommend her for STATS 270!
If you're going to take a stats teacher, this is the teacher you need to be with. she is super clear. i struggle with any type of math and with her i understood it. she goes above and beyond, and she is super nice and funny as well. Don't miss class though.
She is an awesome professor! Her classes are lecture-based and she shows many examples, and she is hilarious. She truly cares about her students and she posts videos on BlackBoard of problems from the chapter. She explains things clearly and one step at a time. Quizzes once a week, 2 exams and homework. I highly reccommend this professor.
Professor Springer was an awesome teacher she made the class easy and really works with you so you get the grade you deserve. Make sure you show up to class and pay attention because her lectures are full of information and so that you can do all of the quizzes(easy points)!
Professor Springer is a great teacher, she made statistics easy to understand and even though the class was a heavy load it is still manageable. If you pay attention and study an A is reachable.
Great professor ! Lectures are clear, attendance isn't mandatory, but definitely go or you'll end up confused! She's a fair grader and overall a great professor
Professor Springer's class was hard but she was there for you if you needed to ask questions about her class. She cared about her students and most of all she was funny!
One of the best professor's ive had here at SWC. Will definitely lool into taking another class with Dr Springer. She loves her job and shes very detailed and supportive.
If you definitely struggle in the math area, you should definitely take Psych 270 with Professor Springer. She's an amazing teacher, passionate about what she teaches, and will take the time to explain anything you're struggling with. Easy class to pass if you attend every class, and if you do the homework and discussions.
Dr. Springer is an amazing professor. Her grading system is set up so if you don't do too well on either the midterm or the final you can still pass with a C. She makes sure you understand everything that's on the lecture. I would totally take her again. And she gives extra credit as well :)
For those who were curious to knowNo Im not: 18,21,25,33, 40, or even 50 years old, but 60 years old. I will be transferring to UCLA this fall of 2017. I have worked hard to graduate with honors and hold a GPA of 3.63. The above numbers represent data from my own sample statistics with respect to ages, or better yet, it refers to a set of math
Cont-before you master this subject. For some, its second nature and for others like me, it can be quite challenging regardless of your GPA and you may not reach your objective and get the dividend payout youre looking for. Win, lose or draw, I can without a doubt say the following:
Dr. Springer manages to make the challenging course a vivid and pleasant experience. Dr. Springer does not hold back her punches, you will follow a rigorous schedule with lots of quizzes and work planned out ahead. I'm leaving class feeling accomplished and knowledgeable thanks to Dr. Springer, this class is definitely worth your time.
Really like this teacher you pass if you try she will notice so participate, if you are like 79% she will give you the B, Iam very bad at taking quizes if I can change anything would be the time I felt 10 minutes if not enough for me, you have a week to turn in the HW + 2 chapter discussions there is 2 quizes per week regularly one each chapter
DR SPRINGER IS THE G.O.A.T. If you are not confident with your math skills I definitely recommend her class. Lectures are EXTREMLY CLEAR, will answer any question you have, very caring towards her students. AMAZING ATTITUDE, class is never boring! Homework, quizzes & tests are fair, almost too easy. Pay attention, do your work & you will be GOLDEN.
Dr. Springer was pleasure to have as professor for Stats 270. She is very patient with you and will answer any questions you have on the subject, pertaining to homework and lectures. I am not a good test taker, but the the good thing about her class is the midterm and final combined are only 25 percent of your grade. Dr. Springer is really legit
Professor makes the class passable by doing your work, in which half of the class is graded off of online homework. This class can be easily passed, and if you group up with people or google while doing your homework then it is an easy A. I am the kind of student who asks a lot of questions, and she always answered them to the best of her ability.
Professor Springer made the material easy to understand. She goes over it several times, provides various examples and lets you use a formula sheet. For someone who is horrible at math and was able to pass this class, I say definitely take her class. She made stats not that scary (:
Wasn't sure if I wanted to be a sociology major but now I am, she is flexible and gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit, really good lectures and relatable.
She's a great professor. She is always on time, and on top of things. You can always reach her outside at office hours and through email. She's super funny and really nice, very caring. Take her!!! Class is always fun and easy, but READ THE TEXTBOOK!
Aside from the fact that I believe she is the only professor that instructs the Psych/Soc Data 271 class, she is knowledgeable and understands the concepts well. Can be impatient with students at times, and seems to think all her students have taken the stats 270 class. Overall, a good professor, but lacks passion in what she does.
She's Cool. Printer becomes your best friend. Class requires attendance, or else why take it. Print GSS, Lab and HW assignments ahead of time. Don't be disruptive, or else. Life is short, so learn data.
Way to much effort distributed into a 1 unit course, especially with the exam being 40 percent of the grade. This class should not be weighted, yet one the more difficult assignments is only 15 percent. It's an easy class if you study as always. The professor is cool, but the school board should raise the units earned for this class.
She give good feedback, fun yet educational, great lectures, participation does matter a lot, get ready to read textbook, does give a lot of chances to catch up with extra credit!
I had her for Psych 271, she's very nice but she has a very fast pace that can be hard to keep up with. 271 is a fairly easy class as long as you show up and pay close attention, she explains things quickly, sometimes doesn't mind re-explaining, sometimes does. Also, expect to do discussions on Canvas.
Took Springer for her PSY271 course and I do not regret it. Funny instructor who knows what she's doing when it comes to Statistics and SPSS. Take her and you won't be disappointed. Made PSY271 a breeze for me.
I had her for PSYC 270 and she is an amazing professor. She made statistics really easy for me to understand and actually become really interested in. The due dates for assignments are organized and she offers extra credit. This is an excellent class to take when you are interested in doing research in the future.
Wonderful professor. Highly recommend taking psych 270 over Summer; relatively easy class and the faster pace makes it heaps easier to deal with. Expect a quiz for every chapter, midterm and final. All multiple choice though many quiz questions were tricky, don't overthink it! Discussion board post +1 reply for every chapter, basically a free 25%.
Great professor! Definitely recommend to take this class with her. As in any over class you have to pay attention and study cause there are a lot of formulas but its easy if you practice it, she makes it really easy to understand and she also helps you with extra credit. Shes also really funny. Overall is a good class.
Professor Springer was awesome! I took her for summer course and we all know summer goes fast, but she made it easy she was so awesome and caring professor really organized w everything and posts everything i feel bad i annoyed her for my A everyday! She amazing and would definitely recomend her specially if your bad w numbers she the one
Professor Springer is the way to go if you need to take Stats!I have attempted this class with 2 different professors and did not last more than 3weeks. She is clear and organize with all the work that needs to be done. She gives lots of extra credit points. As long as you put in the effort on knowing the formulas and definition this is an easy A!
Professor Springer is beyond amazing!!! For someone who doesn't really get As and Bs in math, this class is the right fit, like any another class of course you have to work hard for what you want, but springer makes it comfortable and less challenging. I took this class this summer and basically show up to class, do the homework and don't miss out
Took her in the summer for Stat Methods of Psyc/Soc & she was the best! Helpful & understanding. Lectures are straight to the point & clear. Teaches what you need to know to do Aplia homework online but reading Cengage txtbook helps. Usually lets the class leave early when realizes class is overwhelmed/burned out. Follows routine, no surprises! :)
This is an easy class if you PRACTICE the work problems on the book! Very chapter have problems with the answers that would help you A LOT! The book would help you more than the lectures, but the profesor is amazing and she would help you a lot.
Dr. Springer was awesome! The way she taught stats was so effective. Ive always been afraid of math but she made this class a breeze. She doesnt take attendance, but show up to class. If you show up and listen to her lectures youll be set:)
Amazing professor she explains everything step by step & as many times as you need it. She grades everything super fast so you know what your grade is within a day you take a test. She tries to help you by curving the tests & is very understanding I really recommend her!
Dr. Springer is an amazing professor. If you have any questions she does a great job at responding in a timely manner. For those who aren't the most excited about math, she makes statistics fun. She will go over a lot in one lecture so skipping a class isn't the best choice. To prepare students for exams she gives a quiz very often, they do help!
Dr. Springer is an AMAZING professor, super funny which makes the class enjoyable. Her Lectures and Power point presentations are clear and she definitely makes a difficult class easy to understand. You will have 10 minute quizzes but if you study they are easy. You get what you put into this class. Extra Credit is also given ;)
I dropped my stats class while at UCSC but took it again with Dr Springer and it was amazing! Her lectures are organized, coursework is consistent, and she creates a safe environment for you to ask questions. Considering math is not my strong suit, Dr Springers class was a great fit for me. Shes an amazing professor! SWC is lucky to have her
the professor is very organized but she lectures way too fast. I could keep up because I love math but I could see others struggling because they were too afraid of asking questions. she is not very patient with questions sometimes. overall it is an easy class if you go to every class. super easy to pass.
Professor Springer is hands down one of the best professors working at SWC. I always thought statistics would be a difficult course but professor Springer made really made it simple. If you go to lectures and simply pay attention, and actually work out the problems that she gives throughout lecture youll get an easy A. (A lot of Extra credit too)
DO NOT SKIP CLASS!! You will miss important information. She is really well organized. You always know your grade because she grades everything quickly. I didn't like that she talks way to fast through lecture, but does explain topics well. Quiz every week. Weekly HW & Discussions. Midterm. Final. Few extra credit.
Here's what you need to know: -She is an awesome instructor, but her lectures go pretty fast. -She's always willing to answer questions BUT YOU NEED TO ASK. -DO NOT SKIP CLASS. Every class is related to the following one. -If you'd like to get an A, I highly recommend you to rent/buy the textbook. *Pls take her class
Springer is a great professor! DO NOT SKIP CLASS, you will get behind so quickly. Her lectures go by quick but she does a good job at explaining everything. Ask questions if you don't understand! Weekly discussions, weekly homework for every chapter, a quiz every Monday and only 1 midterm and 1 final. Highly recommend renting/buying the book.
Quizzes every week
Dr. Springer is by far one of the best professors I've had at SWC. Her grading criteria is very clear and set up for everyone to pass as long as you do all your work. If you aren't great at math she's the professor you want. Her lectures are very clear and wont move on until everyone understands the material. Don't miss class! She gives extracredit
Very clear instruction and lectures. Attendance is not mandatory, but necessary to earn a high grade.
She is an awesome teacher that is passionate about her material. Discussions need to be posted 2-3 days before they are due to receive full credit. If you study and know your terms you will be fine. HW is a little tougher but it just makes you critically think.
I took Psyc 270 with Dr. Springer this summer. It seemed like she was way to fast but was understandable since it was an 8-wk course. She really is a great teacher. I like how she uses real life examples and asks if we understand before we move on. She checks her email often so any questions you have, she can assist. Be sure to access tutoring!
I took this class once during the fall semester and failed it miserably. Nothing was clicking but during summer, everything just seemed a lot teacher. She's an excellent teacher! Make sure to do the homework, attend class and do the quizzes, and get help if you aren't understanding things. She's very organized and breaks things down pretty nicely.
Dr. Springer is an excellent professor. Although it was an 8-week course, you are able to learn just as much as a regular semester. I love that her lectures are also available on Youtube, which makes her material very accessible. However, there are several quizzes each week for each chapter (beware). They can be challenging if you don't study. (:
Shes a great professor and I highly recommend you taking her class! :)
Absolutely amazing. One of the best math teachers I've ever had in all honesty. I am normally terrible at math but, Dr. Springer really takes the time to show you and make sure you understand. Even if I didnt ask a question but just looked confused she would call me by name and say like "Hey does this makes sense? See how we got this?" Take her lol
Shes a great professor and although the subject is difficult, she constantly checks on students for understanding and is very organized with the grading and homework. Plenty of extra credit opportunities as well!
Professor Springer made statistics really easy. She gave clear explanations on how to do the problems and didn't mind explaining again if needed. She gives extra credit sometimes, so make sure to attend class every day. I didn't use a textbook. Personally, her lectures were enough for me. I definitely recommend taking her for the lab as well.
I took her online class, so I had no required zooms whatsoever. Her class was challenging for me since I don't do well in math, but I still did fairly well. Make sure to take good notes on the chapters! She is very nice, TAKE HER!
Using the slides she provides for each chapter really breaks down the content clearly, being bad at math I was nervous, yet she makes the material easy to understand. Very nice and provides what you need to succeed.
Easiest class I have taken. I took her 3 week course in the Winter and it was a bit of work but if you spaced out your work throughout the week you'll be just fine. I bought the textbook she told us to get but I didn't really read it since her lectures are very clear on the chapter. You may need the book from time to time for tests. Great prof
Dr Springer is so great. Shes really nice and her lectures are clear so I didnt really use the book. The class is fairly easy especially if you like stats. The midterm is easy but the final is kind of hard, just study and youll do good. I really recommend her! I liked her so much I took her for 271 (and you should to)
This class is SO EASY! Her lectures are clear (and short ab 12 min)and she goes through the lab exercise step by step so theres no way youll mess up your hw (which is basically the lab exercise w a diff data set). The software is easy to use and theres diff ways to access it. Just contact her if u need help! PLEASE take her, she makes it so easy
Lecturers are 10-15 min long. You have the option to show up in zoom meetings. It's mostly if you need help with the lab exercises . Discussion every week & HW. however, very easy if you just do the work. She gives you plenty of time. Midterm is time consuming(heads up).Final is kind of hard but if you Do the work. You'll do great.
Dr. Springer's class was very lecture-heavy, but she really goes through the material and works out problems with you, answering any questions along the way. She has a sense of humor and respects everyone who takes her class. If you don't do well on the midterm or final, you'll still be able to pass by keeping up with the work! Would take her again
Prof. Springer is an AMAZING teacher. She makes statistics so easy to follow. She explains everything simply in her recorded lectures, which you can watch any day of the week. Just take notes. She tells you exactly how to do everything in lecture. She's great if you want to understand the material. Some students took her for granted. She is a gem.
I thought the class would be hard, but it was not if you are interested to learn. The help of the pre-recorded videos, attending the optional lectures, and the textbook will help you pass the class. Also, there's a midterm project, but if you listen and do every work, then you'll be good. Everything's just included in canvas and is an easy A!!
This is a very straight forward teacher. I think what made it difficult to me was that i took the fast track class. Her quizzes were 5 questions and somewhat difficult so if you miss 2 questions you are already at a D.
Great Professor. Her lectures were pre recorded. Do all the DB, HW and labs and you will do good in class. Read her rubric for her each assignments to know what she expects and get full credit in HW. Midterm could be hard if you don't download all the programs (GSS).Exam has a time limit but its ok if you did all the work. She does answer emails.
I took Psych 270/271 with Dr. Springer this Fall online, and my top two favorite classes by far. She prerecords lectures which teach you everything that you need to know for the quizzes and exams. She really cares for her students and responds back to emails very quickly. You should definitely take this class with her!
Professor Springer's both class and lab can be hard at first, but I encourage everyone to actually reach out to her because she actually does help. I received a low grade bc I messed up and didn't watch her lectures & take notes at the beginning of the semester. It can also be bc the course started in September, which is a fast-pace course.
Dr. Springer is The Best Statistics Professor Ever! Taking PSYC 270/271 online classes with her this fall was the best desicion I've made, since I did not know anything about statistics; I was always bad at mathematics, but she has an unique way to teach where you can learn and understand everything in an easy way. Take her class and be successful
She's awesome. Dedicate time to the class, pay attention, and do the work and you'll get what you worked for. She's not a tough grader, she's not mean, SPSS is not hard. I've seen many students in my class complain about the smallest stuff while they don't do the bare minimum. It's an easy A IF you do the work!
Connect with other students to succeed more! This class was challenging but showed me I was getting it with the help of her great quick step-by-step videos. Just get the 30-day free trial... LESS of a hassle for MAC users. Homework, exercises, and discussion boards each week. Take her!!! I enjoyed her feedback.
took her last spring she is very nice and fun professor. her canvas page is organized as well! lectures can be long but it's not that bad.
I just finished taking Professor Springer's Psy/Soc 270 and MAN was that material tough to digest! Professor Springer made it bite sized, responded to after hours questions, and provided us with so much material in order for us to help ourselves succeed!
Quizzes are only one attempt, and the Final exam was time limited (1 1/2) with lots of writing.
We never used the book she said to buy. She assigned one discussion post, reply to another post, homework with like 10-20 questions & a quiz of 5-10 questions; it varies. She gives extra credit a little bit halfway through the semester and towards the end before the final. She wont say anything about attendance unless you got a good grade.
She is a good professor & is very thorough w/ her lectures but her grading criteria is very tough, 1-attempt on quiz/exams & they often have things worded weirdly and multiple correct options. This class is a GE for many, so it shouldn't be as difficult as it is. No open textbook during tests, even online. Time limits are very short. HARD class.
I was able to contact her outside of class and she always responded quickly. Statistics was personally hard for me but Springer's lectures explained concepts in an understandable way. Her class is online and attendance for zoom calls were not mandatory but participation was still counted with assignments due at the end of the week. Wonderful lady!
I have never gotten a passing grade in a math class but for the first time, it was made possible by Ms.Springer. I love the way this class is structured because it allowed me to go through each chapter already having an idea of what I'm supposed to do. Even if you miss class she posts all her lectures and important material on Canvas.
Professor Springer approach to teaching complex statistical concepts with clarity and precision has not only deepened my understanding but also sparked a greater interest in the subject. The real-world applications and examples you provided brought a practical perspective that I found particularly enlightening and engaging.
Dr. Springer is a really good professor, always working with us, has good communication with students, is kind, and explains everything clearly.
Dr. Springer is a great Professor I recommend this class. A lot of material but she helps you to understand and always gives you feedback and answers your questions.
You will never in your life regret taking this class with this specific professor. Her teaching style is absolutely amazing. I used to hate math since the 4th grade! Dr. Springer changed that for the better! If you need a math credit I will 100% always recommend this course and this awesome lady! She makes it almost impossible for you to fail.
Dr. Springer is very caring, her online classes are really organized, and everything you may need is on canvas and she is very accessible outside of class and replies to emails really fast. I would suggest getting the book because it will help with the labs. This was my second time taking her and I would definitely take her again!
This class was okay overall. Late work is not accepted at all or re-submissions after the due date. The work is very straightforward with video guides provided most of the time. Textbook is required but I went through the class without it and was fine. only needed the free SPSS program.
Dr. Springer's online PSY271 class is well-organized with clear expectations. The lectures and materials are helpful, and she's responsive to emails. The coursework can be challenging, but staying on top of the assignments and utilizing resources like unstuck AI can make the class manageable. Overall, a rewarding experience.
DO NOT TAKE HER 8 WEEK CLASS!!!! Lots of work and she is an EXTREMELY HARSH GRADER. She docs you for "A wrong title" or putting a table that you used to complete the assignment.... She is very harsh grader and her lectures don't always make sense with the homework. She seems very nice as this is an online course but don't do it.
