Professor Zylstra is passionate about the law, but I am not sure business law is the focus of that passion. The course is difficult. Nuiance will kill you on the MC exams with only 30 questions. Tricky isn't the word for these, diabolical. She drops one exam but oh that will just lure you passed the dropadd into thinking you will do better.
One of the harder classes I took this semester. 5 tests and no final, but you have to read the chapters to pass and there is a written portion on each test. Test questions are confusing, lectures are extremely boring. She isn't helpful if you're not doing well. Ppt's are on blackboard, review them before each test. Know the vocab and main concepts.
She is a good teacher. Very easy class. Just pay attention in class read the book and you will pass. The subject is dry but she tries to make it interesting. Power points are precise and clear and explaining the book. For exam you just need to learn those law skill to apply on different scenarios.
Multiple choice questions are confusing.
Lecture slides are not helpful. Prof. told me her exams covers beyond the book and suggest me to go to authors website and pay $80 and read. But let me tell you this the book is itself gigantic. If you are not super smart in Law DON'T take her. I understand she is smart and know a lot about Law field but as a business major I would not suggest her
She is very passionate about her subject and makes a 3 hour night lecture very enjoyable. People who complain about the difficulty of her class aren't paying attention to the hints and examples that she gives during lectures. While it isn't the easiest class by any means, it is not that extremely difficult if you put in the effort to read and try.
Grades are based completely on tests (no hw). Her lectures are enjoyable, and she's straight-forward. If you don't do the reading and don't come to class, you will fail. She knows what she's talking about and she's nice, so if you need help, ask to meet with her during office hours. It's was cheapest for me to rent the book on Amazon.
She's a good professor. Her lectures can sometimes be dry but are enjoyable for the most part. She's up front about what's expected and has high expectations. Your grade is based only off of 5 tests, which are for all intents and purposes abhorrently difficult. Be ready to study every single letter of every chapter or be ready for a C at best.
She has 3 open notes quizzes every semester. I read all of the notes and the text book, looked up every single answer in the textbook, and still failed each one. There were two exams, a midterm and final. I studied my butt off, but nothing can prepare you for the gibberish and trick questions she gives you. Avoid at all costs!
"Why does she have the only section available? Hard? NP. I will work hard!" Dean's list last semester; I got an F. Wish I heeded the warnings about how your first grade is what you WILL irrecoverably carry through the semester. So true. 1st F was my highest grade! EVERY written answer was graded so harshly that it pulled Cs down to Fs.
A class you will have no help from the professor in which you study so much you still fail unless you take the time to understand the concepts. There is only reading and the mini tests along with the exams. So whatever you put in that's what you get. Good luck.
Her lectures are really interesting, and there's a lot of laughs as she can be witty and sarcastic. She's as smart as they come so expect to retain a lot of information and keep up with your reading. She's very clear and concise; definitely come to class because her lectures are EXTREMELY helpful. And get the study guide. that helps a lot too.
This is the second time I took her. I wanted to take a different professor but none were available. Last time I took her I got a D and unless I did well on this final I will get a D again. And I have a 3.0 GPA. She is really difficult and her tests are kinda tricky even though I don't think she means for them to be.
The problem with her is she's super smart. If you are not good at Law DO NOT TAKE HER. I enjoyed the material but MC are tricky and she's not helpful at all. Retaking this class with a different professor. Wish me luck.
BULE is a thick subject, and her tests make you think! But they are very passable. Read every single word in the book twice, and make your own outlines of it. Go to class and highlight the book as she lectures. She is actually pretty funny, which makes learning such a dry subject easier to handle.
Grade is based off of 3 exams and a final. Do yourself a favor and find somebody with the test bank. Her lectures were interesting but they don't correlate well with the material on her test which are 95% scenarios. Read the textbook, study the test bank, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
This is a tough class, but the teacher is very knowledgeable and you will learn the material. You only take four tests and one extra credit quiz. The tests are very hard, but if you pay attention in class, take good notes, and read the book you will pass. She is a very good teacher, tough tests, but you will learn. I would take again.
Professor Zylstra is very knowledgeable about business law. There are only 4 exams and they are rather difficult. I would suggest getting the optional study guide for the textbook as the questions in there were close to what her exams were like. She is also very easy to approach outside of the class and is willing to help you as much as she can.
It's alot of studying but if you go to class, she clarifies most things with actual, real world law suits and law proceedings. Her lectures are really interesting and she's hilarious. It's not hard to get a good grade as long as you keep up with reading and go to class. She's a fair grader.
Get the study guide!
Professor Zylstra was a great teacher and really helped you to learn the material. Her tests were a little difficult but if you study there is no way you cannot get at least a B in the class. She is also very helpful outside of class. I highly recommend this teacher.
Omg it's the hardest class I have ever taken. Her grading style is very harsh. All I want to say is not that easy class and not as expected prof.
I will not recommend this class ;(
Hardest class ever too. no homework exams are really difficult
Zylstra is one of the best professors I have had at Mason. She gets an awful reputation, but I can promise she is not bad. You basically have to read, go to class, and study like three hours for each exam. If you do this you are most likely guaranteed a B. She is also pretty funny in class. Best of luck!
I took her online class and found the material to be difficult to comprehend. She provides PowerPoint lectures and there are lengthy homework assignments online. She is a nice lady, but overall law has difficult concepts that take time to understand. There were 4 total exams and she provides a one 10 point extra credit write-up.
Professor gives great lectures! Keep up with the readings and show up to class and you will easily earn a B. The class is challenging enough to keep it interesting. I learned and retained a lot of knowledge from Professor Zylstra's course.
4 Tests+ Online HW. Lets u drop 1 low test grade. HW is OK but Test is too hard. Studied super hard, memorized all vocabs, went over HW Q's & PPT's but never got above 80% on tests; they are all scenario based. Write up questions are also hard. 100% HW score but ended up with C. Seriously, just avoid this online class.
Was forced to drop the course because her online lectures weren't compatible with my mac. Alerted her about it and she proceeded to blame it on me and told me to go to campus to listen to them. It's an online course, something I paid to take at home, the material should work. Amazing how something so simple was so challenging.
Thanks to professor Zylstra I fell in love with BULE she is such a great teacher! I tried to memorize concepts but I did bad on the exams. I learned more doing the Mindtap exercises. She helps understand by giving you real examples. PLEASE TAKE HER!
Despite the negative comments here, I can say she is a nice lady, however, she can be strict on grading. There are 5 exams, 4 pop assignments and mindtap HW (drops the lowest exam and assignment). Advice: READ the chapters and come to class prepare!! She knows her stuff and gives many real world scenario during class that will be on the exam! GL!!
There are 3 exams and a non-cummulative final, but she drops the lowest 1 of the first 3. 1 easy reading quiz per week and she drops the lowest 2. 2 fairly easy group projects and annoying MindTap assignments. Listen to her powerpoint lectures before the exams and you'll do great. Online section is awesome and just buy Connect version of the book.
She is very inconsistent when following the syllabus. Her tests are a fair challenge. The multiple choice is easy, but the essay portion is hard. Her in-class assignments could go announced or unannounced. Get ready to be challenged. In order to do well in the class you must do the readings and homework and understand them at 100%.
Her lectures don't cover the class material as a whole so you will have to do the MINDTAP outside of class, and read the textbook. Her lectures are very helpful for the content that she's teaching but she does expect you to know it before coming to class just so you're prepared for what she goes over.
4 multiple choice/short essay exams (drops lowest), final exam, 4 in class/out of class assignments (drops lowest) BEWARE, BARELY GIVES YOU TIME, 1 (10 point) extra credit quiz, and Mindtap assignments. You MUST read and do the hw to pass this course. Yes, the lectures help but don't think you can get an easy A because you wont, TRUST me.
She's awesome! But do not recommend taking this course w other difficult classes. Takes so much time, chap hw+quiz due each week & occasional surprise in class assignments that tend to come w timed hw essay. Does not provide study guides, no review before tests, but posts pwpoints. Attend every class & take detailed notes of all the case examples.
She is very knowledgeable. However she is one of the toughest graders at Mason. It can feel like she is actively trying to make you fail the class. Although the homework is easy, she assigns a lot of it at once. You have to work for the A in her class. Be prepared to read. Be prepared to do a lot of assignments. I would not recommend her.
Took this class online and while it was very challenging and she can be a strict grader, passed the class with a B because of her thorough lectures. If you listen to the lectures every week and do the homework, youll easily pass.
Take this course online and it is an easy A. 4 exams and she drops the lowest score from the first 3. Do the homework and watch the lectures before the exams and there's no reason not to get an A on them. Online homework and quiz every week but they are very easy and don't take too long. 2 other assignments and those are easy As.
She is the tough grader ever I have seen at GMU. She judge her students by law. When students have lower grade in any assignment then she will try to keep that lower score for further assignments all to the way end. Internationally, she try her best to make fail the students. So, if you want to save your GPA, please don't take class with her.
Strict grader, she looks for specific terms in writing assignments. However, there's a LOT of wiggle room (she drops the lowest exam grade, writing assignment, in-class assignment, and some chapter quizzes). Mindtap homework gives extra points as well. First exam is the hardest but as you get more familiar with the subject, the exams are easier.
Knowledgeable, but expect you to know as much as she knows about law. However, she's an attorney, and you're just a student, taking your very first law class perhaps. I had no life while taking her class. It felt as if I was taking on campus and online class due to LOTS of homework. I will not recommend her if you are not willing to invest time.
I honestly don't think her class is hard at all. this is my first business law class and its surprisingly easy for me. Her tests are just like the HW, but different scenarios. I do invest a decent amount of time in her class, but I am fond of the subject so maybe that is why I find it somewhat easy. I'd recommend her as long as you put in some time
Teacher doesn't teach barely anything, whole class is pretty much teach yourself, drops a test but exams are extremely tough. Wouldn't recommend honestly!
Really bad she being too strict om everything, dont give student chance. I submit assignment 10 mins late she refused. I asked for study guide she said read everything on the book.
if you listen to her lectures it's easy to pass the exam. However, she'd write you up for plagiarism for the smallest missed or incorrect citation on discussion board assignments. She doesn't care for the students at all .
There are 5 exams in the class, she drops the lowest from the first 4 and the fifth is the final. Five in-class writing assignments from which she drops the lowest and three home writing assignments also drops the lowest grade. Gives lots of homework and test are hard. Will make you work for a good grade.
I loved this professor and this class. She was super engaging, really knows her stuff. She made it very easy to understand difficult legal concepts. Best part of the class was discussion aspect. Definitely show up to class, pay attention and take notes (even though she gives slides on topics). She does 4 quizzes/tests and drops your lowest score.
Great Prof, she take the material and almost makes us teach ourselves but the layout make this task very easy for a regular student to do well.
She wasn't bad, the class definitely is one you don't want to get behind or lost in. GO TO CLASS because the in-class assignments are a big part of your grade and they can't be made up. She grades hard and on writing assignments, she never wants to give you the full points unless you say word-for-word what she wants to hear so don't expect 10/10.
Take it online. You have to put in quite a bit of work but as long as you read the textbook and listen to her lectures B should be easily achievable. Material is pretty interesting also so I found it easy to stay on track.
take other professor if you wana pass
Her grading system is fair with her dropping some of your lowest grades, but that's to make up for the fact that she is a HARSH grader. You can never get anything exactly right on her assignments and you have to see her outside of class to even see what you got right or wrong. This class is taught like it is the only one on your schedule.
I know you hear this a lot on rate my professor, but trust me when I say, this is the worst professor I have ever taken. She gives writing assignments that are impossible to get a perfect score on and if you use your own words and she can't connect it to the text book, she will give you a zero for cheating on the assignment. Please, stay away!
No doubt she was a tough grader, but she posted a 30 minute-ish lecture for each chapter there is which I cant begin to tell you how helpful that was! There were a lot of MindTap each week with a quiz, which is the thing I find irritating about this class.
Understand your reading material and lectures. Test can be tricky if you do not. Read, read and apply all concepts to real world scenarios and you will do well.
I liked her a lot. Her lectures are super engaging and interesting. However, there were five exams in the semester and she grades tough on the writing portion. There's out of class writing assignments too, but I feel like it isn't too hard if you STUDY and if you DONT SKIP
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever taken in mason. Her homework is really not much, but the score is really low. Even if you study hard, it is difficult to get high scores. It is very difficult in the exams. if you make a mistake with a few multiple choice in the exam, you will not pass this course.
She is one of the worst professors I have ever encountered ONLINE. Her exams are on-campus which is super hard, lectures that has 3 questions quizzes on it which you cannot skip the lecture to take, turn in assignments late you will get a zero. Do not take her online or in person if you want to fail.
This class was extremely difficult grading was no flexibility. Go to office hours won't help. I did go to her office hours a lot but mostly, no useful information. I got even more depress.
Try to take another alternative if you could. I took this class was really hard it's so difficult to understand anything in this class. Whether the lecture or professor they are difficult to understand both. I took another profess and I enjoyed it and pass so well. So keep it in mind you have to work extremely hard but still passing isn't confirm
OMG watch out for the pop-up quiz, this is dangerous. This class is dangerous. You need to prepare a lot in order to pass. To maybe pass actually. But you need to prepare to put 100 percent for a maybe passing class.
One of the best profs I've had. This class is an easy A if you apply yourself. The tests are straight out of her lectures, literally word for word. You learn so much. Gives great feedback, always there to help. Quizzes every week are easy if you apply yourself. This whole class is a "you have to apply yourself."
BULE 303 is a challenging class. The business law material is not difficult. The format of the class is where the challenge lies. This professor is a strict essay and class assignment grader, meaning, it seems as if this is an english course with content as a secondary objective. This class is not an entry level course as advertised.
Tough grader, but drops the lowest exam and 2 quizzes. Writing assignments are very difficult and be sure to cite carefully (Honor Code). Read the textbook and take detailed notes, the exams apply vocab in scenarios. Extra credit is offered! The professor provides instructions and feedback on how to pass class, follow them and you will do okay.
Prof. Zylstra is really one of the hardest professors here at Mason. That being said, she's really passionate about the subject and is super helpful when trying to explain the concepts to you. She does her best to help you succeed, even by dropping the lowest exam and assignment scores. Make sure you actually read the textbook and take notes.
I honestly dont understand why so many students view this professor as being difficult. Everything was very organized and straightforward. The professor responds to emails quickly and wants to help students succeed. She also offers extra credit with every exam. You have to put in a fair amount of work in this class, but they make the exams easy.
she is the toughest grader that I have ever met. such a most horrible class ever. Do not take her if you do not want to fail
An amazing professor! This course is hard, will not lie, you have to learn the material, however the quizzes are material she covers, the essays and exams are timed, but are doable . She is an absolute gem of a professor - she will help you learn the material and be able to apply it.
Good choice, great lectures in that she provides good examples and makes it a little more fun.
If youre willing to put in the work for this course, youll do well. There are 4 essays and 5 tests, and she drops one of each. The first essay is tough but it gets better. Be prepared to READ, and I mean a lot- there is also weekly hw with the readings. Her lectures are interesting and shes very knowledgeable on the course content. Good luck!
Zylstra is an amazing professor but I will say she is a tough grader, but she will drop your lowest grade for in-class assignments, essays, and exams. The MindTap assignments are easy to get through, and every exam has extra credit points. You cant have laptops in class, so you are expected to write down your notes.
Professor Zylstra is strict, but it goes a long way; she wants her students to understand the material in its entirety. The homework assignments were tedious at times, but they actually helped. BEWARE of the in class assignments though! She also drops the lowest grade for tests, essays, and In-class assignments!
She's a good professor, not sure why she has bad reviews. Recommend taking her online class. It was organized, to the point, and she could be reached through email fairly quickly. There were 5 exams but she dropped the lowest grade. As long as you read the textbook, study before the exams, and just do your work, then there shouldn't be a problem!
BULE 303 isn't as hard as some may make it out to be. If you have good time management you will do fine. Reading the textbook chapters and taking notes is vital. If you don't do well, it's because you didn't try. One of the most organized professors. Her lectures make you understand the material even better so don't miss them.
Tough grader when it comes to the writing assignments. Had to drop and retake with Professor Phillip Mink next semester and passed with an A.
Professor Zylstra is a quality professor. The essays are short, timed30 min, she's a critical grader, I think that's because she's looking for really specific criteria. Essays hurt my grade those most. I wouldn't say the class was "hard" but it was definitely work. She drops the lowest grade for the essay, in class assignment, and exam score.
By far the worst professor at George Mason University. She is snarky, rude, and unprofessional. Does not care about student success. Exams are extremely hard with short period of time to complete. Tough grader and no feedback except rude and snarky comments. Whatever you do DO NOT take this class.
Honestly save your time and DO NOT TAKE HER. she is very rude and doesn’t give you good feedback. Her test are very hard and so are her essays. If you do bad on a assignment she tellls you to meet with her and all she says is read the text book. I’ve been at mason for 3 years and never dealt with someone like this. DO NOT TAKE!
I took her online class. She wasokay. She was a pain at time, but I got a good grade so I don't have much to say bad. Two timed essays, those were the worst for me. She has like 5 exams so if you blow one it is no big deal and I think she drops one. She can drive you crazy at times, like she has a cheating disclaimer on every test lol!
She is the worst professor at mason! please save yourself some time and never take her. she’s very rude and has smart comments. her grading is so harsh and gives no you opportunity to fix your grade.Has in assignments randomly but does not give it back to you which makes no sense because what if you want to use it to study. I wish i could drop it
BAD PROFESSOR
Professor Zylstra is one of my favorite Professors at George Mason University. Her lecture videos are beneficial. She will meet with you to discuss anything from going over your test study tips, etc. She even offers extra credit at times! All you have to do is read and study! There are essays but she provides practice and feedback.
You have to take 5 total exams throughout the semester. One is dropped but these are difficult, with only 30-minutes to complete. You also use Respondus, which she almost writ me up for not showing my wall behind my monitor! You also have to complete three 400-word papers with a 30-minute time limit which is insane! Avoid this class at all costs.
Avoid taking this class at all costs!!!! Tests are highly difficult. Papers are rough. Take a different professor.
Lots of textbook reading and note-taking. There are weekly lectures that have a quiz embedded in them that are helpful when studying. There are also lots of extra credit opportunities that also help you prepare for exams. The professor communicates and has clear guidelines for all assignments. As long as you put in the work, you will get an A.
She is ok. Tests are not so hard if you go to class and read the textbook, essays are a bit harder tho, she does give a practice tho. Some weird rules like must do handwritten notes. Also sometimes doesn't like to answer too many questions. Lots of reading tho and READ SYLLABUS for in class "pop-quiz" assignments, be prepared. Not the worst tho tbh
im not sure why she had good reviews. this is not speaking from experience this is what i saw for everyone. she is a bad grader, she is rude, and she is harsh for no reason. she grades with no reasoning. i do not recommend unless you want to fail. she has random pop quizzes even if you have a excuse to not be there she wont accept
Made this class difficult for no reason, considering it is a 300 course. She gives two essays (lowest gets dropped) and 5, yes FIVE exams, however she does drop the lowest. She grades really tough on essays, giving 30 minutes to complete them on BB. I am lucky to have even passed with a C when I thought I would get a D because of how strenuous.
Hw is easy, essays are hard. This professor has 5 tests but it is solely mc. This course is either you know it or not. I would study the lectures that she provides. Textbooks are helpful but pay attention to the lecture she gives and basically, you will get above c in the course. The tests have tight timeline but it is not IMPOSSIBLE nor hard
- WHATEVER YOU DO IF YOU LIKE HAVING GOOD MENTAL HEALTH DON'T TAKE HER I AM WARNING Y'ALL. STRICTEST PROFESSOR IN MASON. Very obsessed with lockdown responder. She watches you and wants you to show her every crevice of your room or will write you up. 30 min to take your exam. Essays are impossible to write also 30 minutes.
BULE303 is a higher level course, a LAW one at that- ofc it's going to have tougher grading and some written elements. I believe that she makes this class as easy as possible and she teaches in an entrancing way. She does her part and some of you are too lazy to do yours and still expect an A. Learned a lot!
Run for your life. This isn't a professor you want to take. She runs through lectures like a marathon. She expects you to know things she hasn't taught. Her exam study guide was the most useless thing I've ever laid eyes on. She's such a harsh grader and will mark you down if you don't use the verbatim terms she wants. Take literally ANYONE ELSE.
She is one of those professors that you can tell she really enjoys teaching and lecturing on the course material. Her lectures are very interesting. The exams are not that difficult if you take good notes from her presentations and textbook and listen carefully during the lectures.
I did not enjoy her teaching and how tough she is in terms of grading. The tool she asked us to use during exam is absolutely awful. Also she make this class very very very hard to learn. Run, take other professors. She conducts her teaching like a police, always giving you so much anxiety.
Even though you get good grades on mc exams you ended up with harsh grades on in-class assignments and essays. No electronic device, notebook is required to take notes. Cool lectures but professor put students harder conditions with many workloads and expects you get into a challenge for no reason. Take online or someone else if possible.
No. Hard grader. I have never had a teacher grade such harshly on anything. In class-assignments, doesn't give enough time to complete so everyone is scrambling trying to finish them. Total of 6 exams and 3 essays. She drops 2 of the exam grades and 1 essay, is very particular and again grades very harsh. I do not recommend as a professor.
Don't even think about taking this professor. She is so bad at teaching that she cannot explain the topic. She is a tough grader, and the tests are heavy. You have to know all the lectures, books, and slides. Please don't take her; she is terrible. In class Assignments, she cannot read your handwriting.
She is the most odd professor I've ever taken. She's so strict with lockdown and runs her class like the military. I'm so glad I withdrew!! Take another professor if you like having a good gpa and managing your other classes. Her essays and exams are graded so harshly that you definitely will cry and ruin your mental health. JUST RUN!
She is not a great professer!! she was very rude when I would meet with her about succeding in the class. DO not recommend at all. I had to withdraw her class!!!
Truth is, it's so easy to pass. Her slides are straight to the point and concise. Copy her slides and that's all you need to study for exams and essay. 2 attempts per exam, keeps the highest grade. She drops the lowest exam. She's an amazing energetic lecturer, but blunt outside of lecture. If you have basic note taking and study skills, easy A.
She is a very fair professor. All work is due before each exam, you get two attempts on each exam, your lowest exam grade gets dropped, and your lowest in class assignment will get dropped. As long as you are taking good notes during class, reading the text book, and complete assignments/practice assignments, you will easily succeed in this class.
This was the best class I have ever taken. It is predictable so you know what to expect. The lectures are so good you don't need to study outside of class. All the assignments and assessments are easy because she teaches so well. This is coming from someone that rarely spoke or participated in class - you will appreciate this professor.
Some of the most relevant topics for business students are covered here. This class is not easy. Lots of readings. 5 exams and she drops the lowest. You can take each exam twice. Attending class isn't "required" BUT she doesn't announce when the in-class assignments are, so attend. no devices allowed, buy a notebook.
She did what an instructor is supposed to do: teach you. Her methods can be skeptical and unliked at first, but by the end of the semester you'll have learned useful information applicable beyond just a grade. She was eager to teach and in return with every class I was even more eager to learn.
Best professor I've ever had! She's brilliant, with fun lectures and a positive attitude. Reading chapters before and taking notes before class and participating in class, are essential to succeed. Her exams and assignments are extremely fair. She made this class exciting and my favorite at GMU. Highly recommend taking her!
Do not take this professer. She is very strict. She sits through everyones honor lock. her tests are very hard and sometimes have nothing to do with the notes or quizzes. Just do not take her
The professor has an engaging teaching style, but the class can be challenging with multiple exams and strict essay deadlines. Staying on top of the readings and lecture notes is key. unstuckstudy proved helpful for managing the workload.
This Professor was difficult I'll admit, and strict, but she was a great teacher. If you're coming to a class to actually learn, she is so passionate about the subject and that energy will go right to you. Her methods seem ridiculous: "no phones" or "in class activities that are a surprise", but they made me more engaged than ever.
I am not sure why my review keeps getting taken down considering this class was all about free speech haha, but just avoid this professor and this class if you aren't planning on going to law school or ripping your hair out trying to understand her grading criteria. There are other professors to take that genuinely want you to succeed.
Coming into this course and seeing all the reviews i was scared but she is actually a really nice professor and wants the class to be engaging. Usually in business courses, no one really talks but she wants people to talk (not required). The exams can be a lot, i admit but they're multiple choice questions and she gives you study guides before each
Not clear about assignments and due dates. Randomly adds work that is not on the class calendar and only gives 1-2 days to complete. Speech impediment makes lectures hard to follow.
Nitpicks everything possible to reduce your grade as much as she can. Guidelines are extremely hard to follow and seems like she wants to set you up for failure. Spends more time watching Honorlock videos than actually helping students. Did not give any study guides as other reviewers have mentioned. Maybe she only does that for in person classes.
Definitely not as hard as people set her up to be, as long as you follow along with the syllabus readings and assignments you'll be prepared for class. I will say that she does have "surprise classwork" which is graded and is meant to ensure you actually are reading the material and keeping up with the class. Essays are hard though.
Quite unrealistic expectations for an intro course. She treats this class as if we are preparing for the Bar. Lectures are distracting due to gastric/digestive sounds but if you can tune it out, they are helpful. Lectures have built-in quizzes & she "locks" and withholds the non-quiz version until the end of the week, severely limiting study time.
Very difficult with impractical standards. I managed an A but I do not recommend. There are proctored exams or proctored essays every other week all semester. She doesn't realize this is an intro course. She expects you to read 2 hours per day in addition to lectures, quizzes, HW, exams, & essays. Not reasonable unless this is your only class.
