Best math instructor I have ever had! I was intimidated with math at fist, but Mr. Swan put my fears at ease....

very clear and very helpful. is always nice and polite. alwyas has time to help you understand any problems from the class.

Him and Nguyenhuu are the best math teachers at the school. He's as easy as it gets for a math class. He gives a review before every test and does all the problems on the review in class. Plus, he let my class out early every day.

A GOOD PROFESSOR. At time the class can be hard, but he will help you during his office hours. He is the kind of professor that wants his students to pass the class. Fun in class, and tries to keep the class intrusting. All his math class I have taking and learned what I need to pass.

Hes an extremely nice guy. His steps to teaching is clear and organized..basically, he makes the class as easy as possible. NOT ANAL at all..unlike SOME teachers who are so hard on the grading.

Mr Swan is the greatest math teacher I have ever had. He goes over everything so that everyone understands before he goes on to the next area. He makes math easy to understand. Definantly take his class. If you do your homework and show up for the test reviews you will pass his class

Mr. Swan is very helpful and speaks clearly enough for international students to understand. His exams come from only what we learned and review sheets he gives before tests. If you keep up with him, you can get a A.

His class is so damm easy a four year old kid can pass his class with an "A". Its a great class to take in the mornings if you need to catch up on your sleep. His lectures will knock you out. Very help and give lots of extra credit

I am taking his online class, and he is so helpful and fast at getting back to you. I'm getting an A and that says a lot since math is NOT my strongest subject. I highly recommend him and hear that his classes fill up VERY fast. He is more than willing to go out of his way.

The most recommended math teacher is Swan. Sure some classes are early in the morning but it is worth it. I got an A in statistics after not taking math for 2 years.

He is good, knows his stuff, helpful and posative. Encouages students and wants you to do well. Not trying to minimize class size by making people dropout.

Mr. Swan is a great math teacher. He is very "step-by-step" (which I surely need!) in explaining problems, and really encourages you and supports your efforts. He's also pretty funny too!

WARNING: This class is too easy. IF your the type of student who needs to augment thier GPA take his class. I also recommend his class if you need to catch up on your sleep. He's by far the best instructor i have ever had. personally, I think that all the instructors in the math department need to learn his style of teaching.

Swan is the best math prof that the school has. If you pay attention and do your hw you'll have no problem with passing his class. His tests are just like his study guides and if he doesn't go over it in class, its not on the test. He goes step-by-step and if no one has any problems with the hw...you go home early!!

Swan is pretty flexible as long as you arrange before hand! He let me miss class for my track meets and sometimes turn in work a little late with a valid excuse, just don?t abuse. He?ll help you out, just remember that?s what office hours are for!

Easy. Just do your homework. He even lets you use the formula chart on tests.

Mr.Swan is awesome.Math is extremely challenging for me. He lets you redo some homework for the next for extra points which put the homework grade sometimes into the next grade up. He answers all questions patiently with a smile. He is recommended by everyone. Take his class and you will pass. I did.

Math will still be math no matter who your teacher is. If you are good at math it is easy, if you're not it's hard. Swan is a very optimistic teacher. Somehow he makes you feel okay about getting a D or an F on a quiz. He assigns a lot of HW, but doesn't really grade it. It is solely for your benefit to do the HW. Doesn't care about attendance.

Enjoyed the teacher and the class. Mr. Swan is easy to understand and explains the concepts well. The only negative was that his tests were tough and seemed to include more difficult problems than were worked through in class or in the homework. Be sure to study!

Mr. Swan was a pleasure to learn from. He is professional and creative in his learning and teaching format. I highly recommend Mr. Swan for adults like myself returning to college after an extended absence from the classroom setting. I learned many new and interesting concepts. Fear of math kept me from returning to school for years. After taking almost half of my math classes with Swan, I was able to transfer to Calpoly and will graduate from there next year. I will always appreciate his help and humor while helping students like myself through the dreaded math courses. He is GREAT!!!

Swan is no doubtedly the man, he is funny, optimistic, and you really learn if you do the work. He is the most down to earth teacher at Citrus and always has a good attitude. If you don't pass Swan's class it's your fault. LA's finest-we came from the same part and will keep him as a contact even after i'm done with school.-brian

Great instructor! He definitely moves along quickly so you have to keep up and do the homework or you'll fall behind & never be able to catch up!He is very clear & good at explaining the complicated concepts of Algebra. I highly recommend him. He has a good sense of humor & keeps you awake, but at the same time, keeps you thinking! Good all around!

i do not think he is the best, but he was not bad either. i would take some others before him but his class was easy to pass, he did have a way to make things easier to understand. a lot of homework, but whats new for math classes. he was always late to class which kinda bugs when you wake up early to ask for help and he comes late.

The most hilarious teacher at citrus, he is so cool, full of life and always has a joke or something clever to say. Nice guy and good lookin too, I am gonna miss him. Knows his math well and professional too.

I had Mr. Swan for Pre-Cal and Statistics. This guy is by far one of the coolest guys ever! Mr. Swan wants you to succeed, but if you don't study for your tests, you won't. He's a very good teacher, but good doesn't mean easy. He is more than willing to help you on your hw and has an unbelievable sense of humor. Mr. Swan, you rock!

Swan is soo tight! He makes the class fun with his jokes. This was by far the most entertaining class that I have ever had. Test are easy to pass if you look at the study guide and pay attention in class. Just show up and listen.

Mr. Swan is very nice and funny. He is willing to help in any way he can-- gives good lectures and is so helpfull in studying for the tests. Overall a very good class!!! However, this guy is extremely attractive...he should consider becoming a calvin klein model...omg this guy is gorgeous.

Mr. Swan made statistics not as bad as it really is. I took his course over summer and got an A. I have never had an A in math before so that goes to show you how easy and helpful he is. He is very entertaining with his silly jokes so it makes the class go by fast.

This guys alright. His material in class is very hard unless u study alot, but then again this class with anyone else is harder. He'll give you free days off, like on some mondays hell cancel class, the reason? Hes got a bad hangover.

Mr. Swan rules. I took Math 130 last semester with another teacher and got an F, currently I am getting a B. Quizzes and tests are fair. Collects all homework 4 x during the semester (before exams). EXTREMELY clear in explaining math, which is KEY to understanding. HIGHLY suggest you take his class. Great teacher!!!

I also took him for math 130 (having failed the first time with a different professor). Swan is very thorough,has a great laugh and sense of humor (also easy on the eyes). He wants you to move forward and gives you little pep talks about staying focused. I was able to understand math better and also get a B in Math 165! His classes fill up fast....

I took Alfie Swan for Math 150 at 7am, crazy i know, and got a B then again for Math 165 got another B. Math is not my best subject but Swan is an amazing mentor and professor, he knows how to teach. I wouldnt of passed if I did not go to his office hours asking for help and he always helped me out no matter what. he was hilarious also.

All you have to do is show up to every class, do all the hw, reviews, go to his office if you need help and youll pass, i mean math is not easy but he sure makes it easy for you to understand it. Swan is incredible. Took his class during summer--crazy to do with 170, but he was so helpful and clear in his teaching that I (who beforehand hated math) even enjoyed class and made it out of there with a B. Swan's patient and always ready to help out with any questions. His laugh is great--you can't help but laugh when he does. Take his class!

Swan was an okay teacher, in my opinion. I have trouble with math anyways, so I was hoping for a really great teacher. Maybe it's just me, but I thought he went kind of quickly and the tests were really difficult, even though I studied alot. I got an A in 130, so I know I can do it, but I barely passed 150, even with tutoring.

What can I say, but Swan rocks! I took him for Math 130, and he was a great teacher. I am taking him for Math 165, and it is a much harder class. He is a good teacher. Tests, 3 Excel projects, quizzes & a final. You need the book. Stats goes much faster than Algebra.

The class requires work, but it IS bearable. Based from experience, he went fast with the lectures, but he does help out if YOU ask for help. There's four sets of HW, three excel projects (ask for help - he'll help you A LOT), a quiz every week, four tests total and a final. Show you're trying and he'll see that. I thought I'd fail, but I got a B!

Swan... What a stud! I hate math, but his class was pretty easy to pass. Keep up with the homework, and take good notes. Sometimes you might have to teach yourself but he's always there to help you out. I wouldn't want to take any other math teacher after having him. How could you not love his math jokes????

What a wonderful teacher! He makes math easy, explains everything clearly, and is very helpful! Took him for Math 150 and Math 165. If you suffer from "Math Incompetence", Professor Swan is just what the doctor ordered! His step by step method of teaching makes math manageable for those of us who struggle with the subject. For the first time in my life, I felt confident in my algebra skills. And I passed with flying colors!

He's a great lecturer, making the concepts easy to understand and interesting. I did feel, however, that some students took advantage of his kindness by probing for hints and answers during the exams (and getting them!) which seemed unfair to me. Overall he is a great/likable prof. and made the class very enjoyable. And Swan please wear a belt!

TAKE HIM! He's such a great teacher. I understood everything he taught. He even drops your lowest quiz, homework, and test. He's a nice guy, and WILLING TO HELP! Honestly, I missed his class about 5 times, but I still passed his class with a B. I'm sure if I went everyday, I would of got an A. Plus, I hate math. I RECOMMEND HIM! I really do!!!!

One of the best Professor at Citrus College! He is a positive, motivating person. He made math actually understandable! He goes through the lesson step by step. With so many awful math teachers at Citrus, Mr. Swan is a Godsend! He's very helpful and wants you to pass. He's a very reasonable grader and his lectures are very clear. He's always available if you need help. He lets you practice the problems on your own so you really understand them. He's the best math teacher I've ever had and he's funny too!

I took him for Math 150 and Stats, and he was great. He does teach a bit fast, but he always works with you and answers any questions until you understand it clearly. Like any class you have to do the work, but he takes in consideration all the work you do in and out of class, which pays off in the end. Take him he is very nice and a great Math tea

Swan is a fun teacher. Although he may stray away from his teaching and then have to speed through lecture to catch up, he is an easy grader so it makes up for it a bit. Not the best teacher ever, but lots of fun. His classes are never less than interesting.

A good teacher if you know your stuff. He can teach a bit fast and tends to stray on his lectures, but his grading and tests are easy, and his classes are hilarious. Be sure to attend classes if you want to know what's going on though.

What i like about Swan is that he goes over as many problems as the class has about homework. just make sure you stay on top of your hw and study for tests/quizzes.If you get his morning class, he some times runs late (eg. gets a ticket for speeding, forgets to print the exams, etc.) So if you are running like 10-20 mins late , you won't miss much.

Great prof! Answers all questions. Make sure that you keep up on your hw, and take lots of notes. If you do that, you're golden! Dont miss class tho, its super easy to fall behind by missing just 1 day.

Swan is great! Very helpful easy to understand.I hate math but he made the class go by like a breeze. I took him over winter in which with him as a teacher the class was easier. Don't miss lecture you'll fall behind. Do hw and you'll do good on test and quizzes attempt all problems even if you don't know them sometimes gives partial credit.

Although taking Math during summer is a chore with alot of homework, Professor Swan with his sense of humor made it go by really fast. If you dont understand any of the concepts he will go over it with you till you understand it. The class isnt too hard but you get swamped every night with 4 to 5 sections of homework. I highly recommend him!

Took summer session. It moved very fast! If you have not been in math in a while, I do not recommend taking 030 over summer/winter. There is a lot of new material between 029 & 030. He is a nice/motivating teacher but writes fast so it was hard to keep up. However, he grades on partial credit which helps you get a good grade on tests.

best math professor ive taken by far. hes humorous, charismatic, and smart. i hated math until i came across prof. swan, now i find it interesting. i highly recommend him if youre math illiterate like me. just pay close attention, ask for help when you need it. dont zone out.

I've taken Professor Swan for MA 030 and now 150. Not only is he funny but he makes learning math very easy. He takes it step by step and will take his time for everyone to understand. Only downside is the amount of homework given. In the long run all the homework really helps. It prepares you for his quizzes and tests.

Pro. Swan is a awesome, fair, and clear in his teaching ethics! He is willing to help in difficult times when not understanding!

I'm not a math person but Swan made learning statistics easy and enjoyable as he is clear and concise with presenting the material even when it gets difficult. He is very fair with grading the HW/quizzes/tests so as long as you put in the effort, you will get the credit. I feel I've improved in understanding math after taking his class. Thanks Swan

Swan is the best professor I've taken at Citrus! Besides the fact that he is hilarious, he knows how to be serious and get work done. His class is not easy, assigns a lot of homework, however, the homework really helped me. Tests are based on lectures. His tests are moderate. His final is cumulative, but gives a study guide! Loved this class :)

Mr. Swan is a great GUY!!! Super funny!! "Stay Foused Ppl" lol!! took in summer just a long class. He teaches greats and grades fairly. Work hard and stay foused. This class You CAN get an A. I wished I would had tired harfer I got a C but that was on me Swan is a great professor, very chill guy. I recommend you take him for Math 130 and Math 150.

Swan is an amazing professor! He jokes around with people and makes the class feel lively. Only a few quizzes and 2 major tests. He gives out A LOT of homework, but it helps a lot when you come to take the test. Overall, one of the best math professors I've ever had. I would recommend him to everyone!

I highly recommend taking Professor Swan for statistics. He is really funny, super patient, approachable, and knows his stats inside and out. The amount of homework assigned was reasonable. There were only a handful of quizzes but they covered a lot of material, so don't leave your homework/studying until the last minute.

The way this professor teaches is extraordinary . His explanations is straight to the point, writes all the steps down to solving the problem and writes clearly. Gives out quizzes through out the semester and they are similar to what the exam will be. One thing that is great about his class is that he gives out reviews before the exam.

Swan is great. He really makes sure everyone understands before he moves on. he also has a lot of personality and encourages the class to be lively. I felt well prepared for tests and although we had a lot of homework, doing work should be expected in a college class and I wasn't upset about it. highly reccommend

Swan is such an amazing professor. He is extremely helpful and always looks for ways to keep his students engaged and interested in his teaching. the absolute best math instructor I have had so far. took him for Statistics during the summer (6 weeks) and as challenging as the short semester was, he still made you want to study and get a good grade in the class. absolutely love him! You have to work hard for your grade, he's not an easy grader, but you will have fun. BTW I don't like math

I've been terribly terrified of math for years. Took Mr. Swan for intermediate algebra and stats, and passed both with A's. He is amazing!! And if you've ever suffered math like me to the point of panic attacks, I urge you to take Mr. Swan with your eyes closed!!!

Taking Prof. Swan's class was a pleasure. I was taking Math 30 as a review over the summer for my fast track 142 class, and did not regret it! He taught me two other methods for factoring polynomials that work much better than the ones I learned at first. Make sure you attend class, esp. during intersession, but if you must miss, he'll understand.

I am horrible at math I'm just happy to pass. I took math 150 for a second time and passed wit h a B going to SI was a bit helpful but swan gives quizzes that help for exams and also gives study guides very good teacher do the homework it'll help you understand he can go fast at times but nice guy and would definitely take him again

He's a very good professor, my class was at 7 am so most people were half asleep but he still tried to make the lectures interesting and said jokes. He has a lot of patience and will answer all your questions. As long as you do the hwk to make sure that you understand the material you should get and A. His test are very similar to hwk. No surprises

Professor Swan is extremely helpful and wants to see all of his students succeed. He gives credit for at least attempting problems and homework points help your grade a lot, so don't ever skip it! Algebra is my worst nightmare and he helped me pass the class. If you are absolutely awful at math like me, I highly recommend Swan!

This was my third time taking this math class and i felt more at ease. Lectures were clear. You'll understand the material during the lecture. ASK questions and he will make it clear how he got the answer. Write down everything that is on the board! it will help if your not good at math. Wish he was teaching trig and cal! DEF recommend Swan!

He gives reviews for exams which make the test easy. The homework weighs heavy on your grade which is a great easy opportunity for points. Stats was easy thanks to him. He is organized, enthusiastic, and clear. The notes, reviews, schedule, and homework make you well prepared for the tests and quizzes.

He's such a sweetheart and is very student-oriented even in a tough subject like statistics. I'm not a math person but I still got an A in his class. He explains everything clearly and gladly accepts questions. He's an excellent teacher and I highly recommend him. Do your homework, go to class, study what you don't get, and you'll do fine.

It's a lot of homework if you don't do it. If you stay on top of it and read what you're supposed to, it's a fairly easy A. Seriously though, the homework is a big chunk of the grade.

His lecture is aesome! His explanation is very clear and it helps you go up to next level. He helps you to pass the class. He is funny, so you will never be bored in his class. You must do your HW to pass the class, but the HW is not hard. He is an awsome teacher. I wanna take his class again absolutely.

He makes little errors although your still able to understand what he is doing in the problem. He teaches many lessons in one day so be prepared for that. Long homework assignments.

I just finished taking MA 150 & MA 165 with Prof. Swan and I would 100% take him again if necessary. He is very helpful when you have questions, loves to crack silly jokes, personable, and he takes into account the effort that you put into the class. Do not miss class, stay on top of your homework, and ask questions when you need answers!

Failed stats before Swan with another teacher but he made it so much easier to understand! nice guy, he has goofy little jokes that are pretty funny :) take notes, do the homework, the tests or quizzes don't trick you. If you pay attention and take notes you'll pass the class for sure!

Prof. Swan is the easiest math professor I have taken so far. He explains everything well and is willing to work with you if you do not have the grade you want. I definitely recommend taking him if math is not your strongest subject.

This is the best teacher that i have had and the best class i have ever taken at Citrus College because of this guy. He doesnt care how you do the work as long as you get the answer right which is awesome. Also if you get a negative sign mixed up or subtract a few numbers off no worries, he still gives partial credit. This guy is hilarious!!!

Swan makes Stats very simple. He has a great personality & his quizzes & tests aren't too difficult. He gives a lot of homework, but it's a great way to study for the quizzes & exams. Easy A if you show up, pay attention to his lecture, & do the homework (as long as you do some problems from each section, you'll do well on the quizzes/exams).

Professor Swan is great! He is a straight forward teacher and he moves along quickly make sure to ask questions if you are unclear in an area, he lets you do in class work in groups which is helpful, he is not very tough and as long as you keep up you'll do great!

Swan is a cool professor. At times he was way too cool cuz I found myself getting too comfortable with his chillness and missing class often and getting behind. He's super funny and clear on how to do math and his grading is simple. I got behind from doing only 3/4 of the homework each time. Quizzes are 5 questions a week.

Just had him for Intro to Stats and would take him again for another class. His lectures are clear and he answers any and all questions you may have. He does give a lot of homework but if you work on it the day of the lecture you won't think it's a lot. Really funny professor too! TAKE HIM

I was unsure about Stats, but once I took it with Swan, it was a breeze. Yes, I had to work for my grade, doing homework every night, a quiz every week, and lots of notes. However, as long as you don't skip class, take notes, study from your quizzes and homework, you should be fine. He made this class fun and easy. 10/10 would recommend.

Good professor overall. I didnt put the effort in. Only issue with his teaching style is the hw, tests and quizzes dont line up, having last weeks hw and quiz due a week after being taught. Very cool guy. Sure I would have done better if I tried.

Love this guy!!!! Really takes the time on chapters so we all get it. I'm horrible at math yet this was simple. Always cracks jokes, let's you out early. Lots of hw so don't leave the packet till last minute!!!! Study guide helps with tests! Almost the same quest. Take him!

Swan is the best for Stats! He is a really funny guy and makes you want to come to class. Its a avery tough class but if you really dedicate yourself to the lectures you'll be fine. Quizzes are short but long problems.

He has a great sense of humor and actually made math enjoyable. I didn't mind going to math class for the first time ever in my education. Swan is the MAN.

I had him back in Spring 2013 and he is one great professor for Statistics. When first walked in on the first day, I was nervous because of my anxiety of numbers and word problems but when he started lecturing, I fell in love with the subject. I am currently a Soc. major at Cal Poly Pomona and soon earn my Master's in Demography or Data Science :)

Professor Swan is one of my favorite people at Citrus. He is caring, very patient, fair, and responds to his emails. He also is very helpful during his office hours. Would have taken him again but, he didnt fit with my schedule. Despite that, when my current stats prof was unavailable, I asked him for help and of course he didnt turn me away!

He is a really awesome professor he explains everything step by step and helps you if you have any questions. He does give a lot of homework that is due at the beginning of each test. but if you keep up with your homework weekly you should be fine. He gives you a study guide to help you prepare for exams. I would take him again!

I loved this class! Professor Swan was cool. The students mostly ran the class, Swan's lectures weren't very long. It was up to you to figure it out with your group. But it helped during the quizzes and tests. Quizzes are with your group members so choose who you sit next to wisely. Study! Study! Study! Also, doing the homework helps too. Take it!

There is work and effort that must be put into this class, but it is worth it at the end. The exams and quizzes are relevant to the lectures, class assignments and homework. best stats professor! he provides notes for you, he's flexible, gives out practice exams/review before the real test. every other quiz is with a group instead of by yourself. so choose who you sit next to wisely!!! swans teaching formula worked like a well oil machine. lots of home work. but its math, what do you expect? you can use a calculator!

Professor Swan truly cares about everyone passing and understanding each unit. Before quizzes and exams, hes willing to go over problems we struggled with. Textbook required for hw but hes lenient as to what edition you choose. I chose 9th edition and found pdf online. Easy Grader throws in extra credit every exam and quiz.

I took an async class with Swan and it was an easy A. You to have to buy an access code to do the HW which was kinda annoying. There is quite a bit of Homework every week along with two weekly quizzes so it's not a "low-effort" class. You will be screwed if you wait until Sunday to do everything. 2 chances on every quiz unlimited attempts at HW.

Alfie Swan is an amazing statistics professor. He really breaks things down in class and shows people how to understand math I have never been taught before. It is a long class, but he makes everything work smoothly and it was not a hesitant class to go to. You need to buy the online code for the math website and you have unlimited attempts on hw.

I may have failed the class but this was the best professor for Math that I've ever had. An all-out fantastic, hilarious, caring guy. He really took his time to make sure you got the concept. He gives you a lot of time to complete assignments. The work is kind of hard because it's stats. I can (and will have to since I failed) take his class again.

He had a good heart, he's willing to work with you if you are willing to work with him. He will make sure the WHOLE class understands something before moving on. I will miss this class so much. He also stays after to talk to students and help on areas he that you'll need clarification on.

Great teacher, took him over the 6 week course and he made stats easy to grasp, Showing how to work out the homework in excel is also helpful as it's basically a necessary skill now. Only bummer is having to use connect math but that doesn't take away from the course itself. Also offers extra credit which is a nice boost at the end of the course.

Professor Swan is there for the students 24/7. There is a lot of work to do; however, it is worth it in the end. Do not be afraid of all the numbers; the calculator is your friend. LOL

I had this professor twice during the spring and ending not passing his class but retaking it again during the summer time. This professor will not fail if you put in the work and very much helps out on so much. His lecture are as well amazing and straight to the point. I will again recommend this teacher for Math 165.

Professor Alfie Swan really cares about his students. He will reply to your email almost instantly whenever. He is ready to answer your questions and how to make everything easier to understand. Don't get me wrong. You have to work hard to pass this class but with his guidance, you will conquer this class. He wants his students to succeed.

Professor Swan is very kind and helpful. The online program he uses for homework, quizzes, and tests can be kind of finicky sometimes. He always checks quizzes and tests and changes the grade if the computer messes up, so that was great. I used to be a math hater, but now I love stats. I would highly recommend taking his class.

This is my first time rating a professor and i must say HES THE ONE YOU MUST TAKE. Every week there was a quiz but he gives you a reviews and also gives reviews for every exam. There was also online homework that counts towards your grade just get 100% and you should be fine. He also had class participation points on canvas and those were easy 10pt
