Great clarity. Excellent lectures. Super hard tests (I feel unfair). Contains twists to problems not covered in class or homework. No curve or extra credit.

I don't understand his grading policy. I had missed a test due to an illness. He does not allow make-up exams. Going into the final I had a "D", yet somehow I got a "B" in the class. He also only take 80% of the final grade to put towards the missed exam. NOT FAIR!

He makes learning easy for people who don't understand the point of word problems, and will tell funny stories from time to time to give us a break. Tests and quizzes were easy but thorough.

pretty good teacher! he might not be the easiest on tests, but he does prepare his students fairly well. his lectures are pretty understandable and straight forward.

He was a very clear teacher, and i recommend if you have a hard time with math he is the teacher. He breaks everything down for those who have a hard time. He prepares you and is very willing. He is still hard on the exams though. Just show up and try and you'll do fine.

Alfonso is one of the best teachers I have had. Very straight forward and good explanations when there is difficulty understanding something. I would recommend him for any student. You will learn the material well.

Alfonso is a great teacher. He is willing to help you out if you need it, and he is very fair. As long as you put some effort in, the class is pretty straight forward and easy. If you don't want to try, don't take his class, and drop out of school!

I actually enjoyed this math class because of the clarity and straight forward approach to math. He is a relaxed teacher who will tell you like it is and some stories on the side. He goes through all the details so you fully understand. Take this class to completely understand algebra.

This teacher is the best. He is nice, funny, but knows what he is talking about. He really helped me move on to a higher math level!

If you do well on the quizzes(which requires doing lots of homework) and do ok on the tests you'll be in good shape. Lobato is a good teacher, who every now and then gets sidetracked and starts ranting on random things.

If your not good at math tests, then take this class. Much of the tests are based completely on your homework. I took this class in the summer and i got an A. And he's latino!!!!

I think he is the best math 152 teacher at Cabrillo. He is very straight forward and tells you exactly what you need to know and what you don't need to know to move on to your next math class. He's approachable, and is always willing to explain math further if you need. Take his class!

Lobato is awesome. He is really clear and explains everything. He even gives you the answers for your HW most of the time. He still expects you to do the work however. Great Guy Awesome teacher, Highly Recommended!

He is a really good instructor I ever had. I took both of my Math class with him, and I got always an A. He explain you everything you need to know for the test. After a few years of taking his courses, I still practice my math, and he still help me. If you sing up for his classes, you won't be disappointing. Good Teacher Alfonso.

LEARNING IT WAS PRETTY ALRIGHT & EASY. BUT ON THE TEST'S, HE GAVE US PROBLEMS WE'VE NEVER WORKED ON BEFORE..MOST OF OUR CLASS WOULD LOW SCORES ON EXAMS. THATS THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WITH THIS CLASS. I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE.

Totally hilarious. Explains math in layman's terms!!! Honestly he is the best math teacher i've ever had. I've never met another teacher who so sincerely wants you to understand things. VERY patient.

math 154 is a easy going class. give so many examples that your bound to understand. tests are not hard.quiz's are easy.dont miss class cause then you wont understand your homework.its important you got to class.very helpful during his office hours!if you have questions,just go see him and he'll show you how to do it!you should have him!

Lobato is awesome! His lessons are easy and straight forward and if you don't get something you can just ask him and he'll make it simple. All you need is to show up to class and do the hw so you understand and do well on the test. The tests are pretty easy. He gives you a review sheet so you can study. Take this class! Only thing is he gives a lot of lectures about doing well and stuff "/ lol

HE IS AMAZING! I wish he was teaching in aptos this past semester so I could have taken him again. If you do your hmwk quizzes come right from them. If you can't do well on the quizzes you're not putting in any effort. Practice exams. Reasonable amount of hmwk. Very caring & helpful. The best math professor I have ever had by far! He is AWESOME!!!!

Mr. Lobato is an excellent teacher. I highly recommend him! He explains things with clarity and is very humanitarian.

He genuinely helps students only if you ask. Not the most humble of guys, that is clear. Lots of preaching. If you want to be reminded how to be a good student, take it, if you can handle math without the "just don't say I didn't tell you" over and over again, skip it, there are better teachers. Good instructor, hate or love personality.

Awesome instructor! Very understanding, patient, always has time for extra questions. Never dismissive, very professional, approachable. Explains things really well in either English or Spanish.

Great instructor, very helpful. His class is not easy though, so be prepared and always do your homework!! Don't go to class starving because he is always eating and you might not pay attention to his lecture and will focus more on his food. Great teacher! and great person! he makes you feel like you can trust him.

Awesome instructor, genuinely cares for his students, if you do your part he does his. Extremely helpful, keeps the class fun and is EXTREMELY patient. Is always in a happy mood. I am >VERY< sad that he will not be teaching 152 in the fall! Would take him again in a heartbeat, fashooo ;)

Lobato is such a great professor! Math is hard, but the teacher definitely makes a difference when it comes to this difficult classes.

Mr.Lobato is a great teacher he never judges you if you have a question that seems easy. He's lectures are fun and easy to understand. I use to hate math and know that he's taught me to understand it I know love it! He is strict about turning stuff in on time, he also rambles about random stuff. Besides that he's amazing I highly recommend him!

Mr. Lobato is one of the best teachers I have ever met and I am 62. He goes step by step as many times as it takes to make sure processes are understood, and shows how mistakes could be made and how to avoid them. He makes fun of himself and jokes in class, His way to help relieve Math anxiety and help relax us. This is the best teacher for Math.

This teacher loves what he does for a living, he lives to teach and makes sure you learn, doing so with a lot of self-deprecating humor which is a tactic I believe to relieve Math anxiety. He is kind and helpful and an overall good person. Unless you have retention problems, and even with, you will be surprised at your progress with this teacher.

MR. Lobato is a very nice teacher very helpful and clear what I like about his teaching he has tips on how to remember to solve your math problems. he really wants his students to succeed.

Mr. Lobato is an AWESOME dude. Coming from someone who absolutely hates math, I would recommend taking math with Lobato in any class you can. For lower math he is so clear & goes slow so you can really understand the material & there are no dumb questions! He is funny & always willing to help, he even gives 1/2 cred on wrong questions on tests!

Lobato is a great teacher. He makes learning fun. He is very clear and organized and takes you through concepts step by step. He also is funny! I took beginning algebra and intermediate with him. He is a strict but clear grader, he prepares you for what he expects, if you do your homework and are a responsible student you will do great.

He's a good teacher and tries to relate to students with jokes and whatnot. Don't miss class, you will regret it. A good amount of hw. Wkly quizzes. 4exams. My one complaint is he does not prepare you adequately for tests or the final, yes he hands out review sheets but they are so broad you end up studying more of what's not on the actual exams.

Hands down one of the best professors at cabrillo, and that I've ever had. And I've been to two other colleges as well. Hes extremely helpful and cares about the students. I'm very grateful I had a chance to take him, its very hard to get into his class. This isn't a easy A, but as long as you try you will succeed in his class. Highly recommended.

I was never good in math, but when I took his class I was amazed of what I was able to do. I passed his exams with good grades and made it so easy to understand. Love the dedication he puts into lecture and how he is always willing to help his students.

Alfonso is an amazing teacher. I had his class last semester (my first semester at Cabrillo) and he made class fun. He gave great, clear and helpful notes,not to mention his lectures were always entertaining. He writes all his tests and quizzes himself and doesnt try to trick you. As long as you keep up your end of things you will pass the class. his tests and quizzes aren't difficult as long as you are keeping up with the homework. The final exam review is crystal clear on what you will see on the final.

Lobato is a great instructor who is always available to answer questions; he is very blunt and does not sugarcoat things. He is great at explaining problems and strongly encourages students to take advantage of the ILC and MLC. He talks a lot about food, and gives daily lectures to help keep students on track. Quizzes and tests are not hard.

Really nice and funny instructor, on his lectures he tries to be very specific and is open to questions at any time. He offers help during his office hours and encourages students to go to the MLC for more support.

With his class you need to do homework just about every day so don't slack. If you keep up with it, take notes of lecture, and go to the ILC for help you should pass with a C or higher. Even if you are bad at math like I am. It was a tough semester but he is a nice man and explains math very thoroughly. Highly recommend him.

Lobato talks a lot in class about his life outside of the classroom but he is an excellent teacher. He explains everything very thoroughly. He encourages questions and is quite helpful. He does great reviews and prepares you for tests.

He is a really cool, fun teacher and is very understanding. He really helped me get through anything I struggled with.I learned so much with him. I am looking into taking more classes with him.

He is supper nice and respectful toward everyone. He is very lenient and understanding, especially during the pandemic. He provided so many examples about every subject and when someone didnt understand something he was determined to help them understand. I highly recomes this teacher!!!!

Professor Lobato is very funny and clearly cares about his students. He holds you accountable for your work, but is understanding and will work with you if you have any issues. He has been a great math 4 teacher so far, and encourages everyone to be positive and have faith in yourself even if you aren't confident in math.

I took math 15 this semester with Lobato and hes an amazing professor. He makes lectures fun and makes math enjoyable. He wants the best for his students, and is constantly reminding students to complete their tasks so they can succeed. He gives good feedback and will more than likely be happy to assist you in anything that you need.

This class was so insightful! He tests you on exactly what he teaches during lectures. Participation is always encouraged in Lobato's class. He also has assignments that check-in with you and he usually responds to them. He cares a lot about his students so communication is key. If you need help don't be afraid to ask for it!

The professor was very clear about grading and assignments up front. He always gave us a break in the middle of class and provides plenty of office hours. The only thing you need to know is that homework is VERY important. You have a lot of time to complete it but there is a reason for that.

Get prepared to do a lot of homework on Aleks. This professor is very kind and cares for his students. You will pass with a C or higher if you try your best. I tried my hardest to get a B, but math is not my most vital subject. I suggest only taking math and no other courses if you struggle with math. His lectures were fun to listen to.

After not taking a math class in over 10 years, I was nervous about this class, but I'm glad I took this with Lobato. Course is HW heavy on ALEKS, depending on your knowledge but I'd take about 12hrs or so with HW alone per week & would frequent the ILC for tutoring. If you put it in the work, you should be able to pass.

I've always struggled with math, but his way of teaching made it super easy to understand. Lectures are extremely helpful, if you miss class i would get lecture notes from a class mate. Lot's of Alek's HW, on average i would spend 5-7 hrs/week doing HW, but it all depends on your initial knowledge check. Exams are exactly what you see in lectures.

Tons of humor throughout lectures and provides examples when there's any confusion. ALEKS is the only thing I'd recommend anyone planning to take his class to get ahead of but it still really isn't that bad!
