The lectures were fairly easy to follow and I enjoyed them. He also gave plenty of time to know and prepare for what's on the tests, which consisted of writing a paper on a topic and a few key terms from the lecture notes. It's a good class if you want to really learn the material but also not too intensive. I would definitely take his class again.
Easy enough class, mostly exams based on lecture material. Only one assignment based on the supplementary textbook. He is a great lecturer, I learned a lot during my time in the class. Exams are all based on the lectures, and they're not hard, just time consuming. Would take this class again!
Awful professor. Painfully boring to listen to. No clue how he has such a high rating. You have to watch at least 6 hours of BORING lectures to do each exam and if you don't practically write word for word what he says, he will give u a bad grade. Some people in my class wrote over 20 pages and still didn't get 100's. Ridiculous.
This class is three tests and one essay. The grading criteria is unknown maybe based on page length. You will not get any constructive feedback for the grade that you receive. You just need to regurgitate his lectures in the exams and you will get a high grade. You should be ready to write at least close to 100 pages double spaced.
Course consisted of three exams and one essay for which you need to acquire a book. Long lecture videos but assignments are easy if following it through with Word. Assignment requirements are clear as well as grading criteria. You can be done with the exam if you follow the lectures and type it in. Videos are interesting and quite informative.
Professor Lopez is great. His lectures can be long but definitely interesting and easy to understand. His tests are very time consuming but are based on lectures that are recorded. He gives extra credit options and is very understanding. I recommend anyone to take his class.
This class was pretty easy. There were 3 tests; all test material came from the lectures. Tests are essay, and you get the questions ahead of time so there was plenty of time to prepare your answers. There were two homework assignments that were also pretty easy, and there's an opportunity for extra credit if you need it.
I took Texas history 2301: Everything is based off his lectures, take notes on what he says and it's so easy. The only grades were 4 essays and a couple "research" papers. Take notes on what he says then convert it to an essay. I got a 100 while my peers complained about how horrible he was Lopez is a cool dude and he makes everything interesting.
The class structure was pretty straightforward. Only 3 essay exams and two other papers. If you are somebody who hates writing essays, I would not recommend this class because this class is pretty much just essays. I overall liked the class and Professor Lopez was always very understanding.
He's a great lecturer, and even though it can get a little dull, he does really well when explaining and describing whatever the topic is. Thanks to his descriptive kind of lectures, the essays were not that bad, seeing as how my notes were able to really carry my essays. The questionnaire is also not too bad, just so long as you actually do it.
He isnt that bad of a teacher he does prerecorded lectures that are kinda long. But as long as you take detailed notes and then turn his words into your own your bound to get an A in the class.
Professor Lopez was an amazing teacher, he graded very lightly and it wasn't hard to get a good grade in his class. If you took notes in the lectures or even if you didn't it was still easy, you just needed to explain the topic in the longest amount of words possible. 10/10 would take again and recommend.
For TX HIST essays you may only use his lectures and no other sources. You must also answer the questions in order presented in the prompt which happen to be in the same order as his lectures. So be prepared to rewrite about 30 total hours of his lectures in your own words with no other sources for 75% of your final grade.
Class is based on 3 papers that are at least 5 pages and you watch 9 lecture videos for each paper. For the papers, you have to pick between 2 topics and then pick 2 terms. You basically have to write very detailed notes about the videos and then copy that into your essay. There is also a report based on the textbook that has to be 10 pages long.
Professor Lopez is a great instructor. His exams are essay-based, and if you take detailed notes during his lectures, you will have enough to write about and get an A. His lectures might be long, but they give lots of information that is useful for exams. Very easy class if you do the work. Especially for busy students. Definitely recommend!
Between the Exams and report, I had to write more in this class than both my English Comp 1 and 2 combined. You can only use lecture material with no outside sources so take extremely detailed notes. If you hate writing lengthy essays do not take.
He is great. Open notes test but very long easy 100 if you write word to word from his lecture its easy but lengthy. Great teacher good lectures. Just record his lectures on phone and watch YT on laptop and when it comes to exam just put headphones and write whatever he is saying. Ez A.
This professor is nice and his class is very easy. It's just that his lectures are extremely painfully boring and repetitive. The tests are just essays over topics and they're like 15 pages long. Easy class to pass but super boring.
Professor Lopez is a nice guy, but his lectures are torture. They're repetitive and all you're allowed to use on tests; you're essentially rewriting the lecture word for word to get a good grade. There's only 3 exams and a 10 page report from the textbook but if you don't absolutely love writing look for another professor, otherwise it's an easy A.
Lectures are long, repetitive, and boring, and if you do not write everything he says it will be difficult doing the tests which consists of a five page essay for part one and about three pages worth on three key terms. There is also a study report that must be 10 pages. I wouldn't recommend for people who hate writing and can't pay attention.
Only 3-4 things due the whole semester and they're all essays (I've never written so much in my life.) Lectures are hours long and super boring but you can use word for word what he says in the lectures (on the essays) and he'll give you a good grade. Don't take his course unless you enjoy writing 25+ essays on WWII. I took the asynch course.
154.25 pages of notes and 48 pages of exams and 17 pages of extra credit and 14 pages of study questions report. 37.3 hours of lectures (half that if you put him on 2x, which I recommend). When you realize that the entire class can be taken in a week (only if you do literally nothing but eat, sleep, and history), it's not really that bad.
Professor Lopez was a great online teacher. He has all of the lectures uploaded and you watch them at your own pace. The tests are basically just essays over the lectures. As long as you write the information he says from his lectures you will do great in his class. His lectures can be long but they are important to take notes on.
take notes word for word if you can. lectures are very boring but his essays are easy to pass if you just take as many notes as you can. he was boring, didnt care for him too much. beware: he will repeat himself many times and take 30 minutes just to get past the recap of the previous class.
He's an amazing teacher & tells people how to improve or could be missing from the essays that we write. You have to pay attention to what he says in the lectures, but he will answer any questions you may have. Work on essays ahead of time because it'll make it easier. Begging of the semester gives a lot of time for people to work on extra credit.
VERRRY lecture heavy. only 4 assignments, not including 3 extra credit works. Expect exams to be around 8-10 pages long. I recommend starting the exam immediately as it takes longer to complete. Pretty much take notes word for word, and you'll be fine for the exam. lectures are long and boring, but it's crucial you pay attention.
this class is not hard to pass but you NEED to either record his lectures or take notes word for word. His lectures are so extremely painful to sit through. They are LONG, BORING, AND SUPER REPETATIVE.if you struggle even a little bit to pay attention, find another teacher because it feels like listening to a robot talk for 2 hours straight.
The professor himself was kind, and responsive any time I e-mailed him. However, he wants you to regurgitate his every word on the essays, and the length of the assignments was just EXCRUCIATING. He takes point off if you can't guess exactly everything he wants you to write about. Most discouraging experience I've had, I will never take him again.
Just take really good notes and type word for word. Write at least 10 pages extra for everything. For study guide questions write at least a page for each question. I went to 20-30 pages on each of my essays. Extra credit is a lot of work, and i didnt do it. Don't wait till last minute for study guide questions. Not a bad teacher overall though.
Oh my GODS avoid. I'm taking his HIST 2301 class and it's the most frustrating class EVER. The textbook is so hard to find and it's so expensive and the lectures drone on and on. You'll be writing 15 pages for every exam and he doesn't tell you how to format so your grades will suffer. 7-8 Hours of lecture material per essay. Awful. AVOID.
Lectures are painfully boring and repetitive. If you have trouble focusing, don't take his class. Otherwise, the papers are easy enough; DON'T TAKE BULLET POINT NOTES, WRITE THE EXAMS AS YOU WATCH! If you do that, you'll get a 100%. Read the exam instructions before you start; you only need to listen to five lectures per unit. Start early on exams.
Prof. Lopez was wonderful, and very kind. If you do not like lectures, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This class is 100% lectures and exams are based 100% on lectures. However if you enjoy lectures I guarantee this will be the best US History class you will ever take. TAKE DETAILED NOTES. I would also recommend recording his lectures via audio.
3 exam essays, each requiring five 1.5 hour videos to watch on YT. Open word on one half of your computer, his vid on the other and play at x2 speed. Transcribe everything he says, you will get an A. One Q&A report based on a textbook which takes an hour to complete. You can finish his entire course in 1 day with an A if you shut your brain off
Pretty easy class but time-consuming, there are not a lot of assignments but they are extremely long. You will need to write more than 10 pages for each assignment but it is not hard at all. Just transcribe the whole lecture in your own words. All classes are not mandatory, gives a choice of which subjects to handle.
Professor Lopez only provides a few assignments, mostly essays, but the class is easy overall. Most of the time his class is lecture-based and taking many notes helps for the exams. Since we weren't allowed anything besides lecture notes on the exams, taking as many notes as possible to guide the essays was useful. He does ramble a lot.
Students with ADHD this is not the professor to attend, he is knowledgeable, but his video lectures are VERY hard to follow. During a 83 minute lecture he said uh 220 times. Having ADHD things like this throw us off course and make it very hard to learn and follow what is being taught. Also very repetitive on non material related items.
So easy. i took the 5 week summer course last year. 3 essays, just copy what he says in his videos. it takes a while but you'll get a 100.
Not your traditional class. Not multi choice exam and get ready to write. Make sure you copy every word of his lectures because he expects you to use the same notes on the exam essay that he says only needs to be a minimum of 5 pages on the first part but realistically, he wants 12+ pages total exam essay. No outside sources can be used.
My grade was a 95 and i took the 5 week course Pros: everything in the lectures will be on the essays, so take good notes. like all the other reviews say on here, WRITE DOWN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. Cons: lectures are long. when i mean long, i mean LOONNGG. he just repeats himself over and over again. this sucked because i took the 5 week course.
SAVE YOUR SELF THE TROUBLE DONT TAKE THIS CLASS ITS NOT WORTH UR MENTAL HEALTH!!! You can follow mla style and his rubric to the very letter and he will give u a 60 if HE deems you didnt do enough. After going back and forth arguing with him and he still wouldnt see to reason. If his class is unavoidable DONT LET HIM BULLY YOU.
He is a great person but not the best professor IMO. His lectures are long & monotone. They are also hard to follow as they are streamline. There's a lot of tangents. and GOOD LUCK if you miss a day. There are only lecture outlines/topics & no record of the lectures at all. Only assignments he assigns are 40% of your grade & only lecture material.
All you do is watch extremely long lectures and then write a 10 page essay over it and cannot use ANY outside evidence or he immediately fails you. If you can avoid taking this class please do so, it's the worst class I've ever taken. I was a straight A student in high school and have never struggled until this class.
I took his History 2301 class and the lectures were very long and tiring to watch. You need to watch them to get the information needed for the written exams, so listening to the lectures are a must. Most lectures are over an hour and a half long, so if you like listening and taking notes this class is for you. The few exams are nice though.
The course only has four essay assignments; if you keep watching the YouTube lectures and keep up with the progress, you'll be fine. Lectures sometimes can be repetitive and boring; 1.5x speed is recommended!
It really wasn't that hard of a class. It was just crazy heavy lecture base but I would rather take that versus a super hard history class with a hard grader for a teacher. He is super specific, but you just have to be organized in order to set aside enough time to listen to all of his videos. Would take if you need the credit!
Provides excellent and clear lectures, and does a good job at avoiding bias and modern revisionism from himself and shutting down unhelpful comments from students. The syllabus is well written and followed by the professor. The course content is broken up into well defined sections and is easy to follow. Very responsive to properly written emails.
Start to finish is constant lecture, no engagement whatsoever. If you want to succeed, get ready to write. Take quantity>quality notes, and write them practically word for word on the essays - and don't be concise. 5 page minimum per essay, but you should be writing 15-20 pages. Record lectures, and regurgitate it onto paper. Easy A if you do that.
Very, very tough grader. Write as much stuff down as possible on exams otherwise, you'll get several points taken off for tiny details. Lecture videos are ~1hr:30mins long and are difficult to follow along with.
When you take this class, most of your grade will come from his "Exams" which consist of a BARE MINIMUM 5 page paper. If he tells you in class "MLK was a African American man who had an I had the dream speech." and you write "MLK had an I had a dream speech." He will DQ your paper because you did not add in the detail that he was African American.
He was great! His lectures are very long yes, but he does a very good job at going over topics and you can tell he's very knowledgable. Take as many notes as you can because each exam is in essay form and only over the lectures. There are only 4 grades in his class, 3 exams and 1 study question report. He does also offer extra credit.
I enjoy history so I was able to stick through the lectures and take good notes, but if you don't take good notes on the lectures you are sure to not do well on the exams. The exams are long and time consuming, but if the notes you took are well explained then the exam information will be easy to find. Your grade will be dependent on these exams.
The lectures are not that great, free on youtube, paying 1k for this class, his microphone in the lectures only goes in one ear. Doesn't do any assignments other than Exams and 1 long essay.
Simple and straight forward teaching style with his online work. Watch videos, take notes then write an essay. Class is very simple but time consuming. I believe anyone who takes this class can get an A if they put the time and effort into learning just be prepared to write long essays. Very understanding as well if problems occur.
I took him for Texas History. All writing-based: 3 exam essays and 1 study report. No quizzes/tests. YouTube lectures (1.5 hrs) must be transcribed word-for-word to do well on the exams—only lecture material allowed. Go beyond the minimum page count. Get the study report book early; it's hard to find. He's helpful and replies to emails quickly.
This class was difficult to keep up with, mainly because the structure was unclear and the grading felt unfair. The lectures were extremely long video recordings (mostly 2 hours). Feedback was okay.
I took Mr Lopez 1301 over the summer in person for 5 weeks. We had class Monday-Thursday for 2 hours. The entire class was lecture based so as long as you take good notes you will be fine (Make sure not to miss any details). The Good note taking made the exams easy because we were allowed to do them at home. Write as much as possible 13 pages for A
it felt like i was reading a book. his lectures were very comprehensible esp because of his ability to deliver the information in an imaginative and engaging manner, even ones w heavy details. so, i highly recommend attending every lecture and taking lots of notes (as descriptive as possible) bc mine were literally the reason i aced all my exams.
Best history professor I've had. I got a 100 in all my assignments and didn't even have to take the final because of that. He's so understanding and such a great person overall. All you have to do is watch the lectures and take notes. The tests are open-note and accessible from day 1. I recommend you look at the tests before watching the lectures.
Dr. Alfonso Lopez is a great professor. His lectures are interesting and engaging. He's not a harsh grader AT ALL. I would find it hard to believe that some people didn't pass his class. Not only does he make tests available right at the beginning of the course, but he also has extra credit opportunities. I would give him 10 stars if I could.
if you have any other choice at ANY other person, PLEASE TAKE IT. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
If you genuinely try to watch his lectures & take detailed notes, you'll do well and learn, I suck at history & I got a 100 on every assignment. He's a bit repetitive and his lectures can be boring but if you pay attention he makes it kinda interesting. The downside it that there's sooooo much writing to do. If you hate essays don't take him lol.
His class is lecture intensive and his exams (written paper 4 page minimum) are based only on lecture materials no outside resource. So if you are late or miss class you have to find someone with good note taking strategies.
Two exams a semester, both 5-10 page minimums. Lecture notes are the only allowed resource, so as long as you take lots of notes and participate, you will succeed. There is also one long-term project with a 10-page minimum that follows the textbook, but it took me around 1 weekend to finish.
Worst professor ever. You follow all his recommendations, but it seems like he gives any grade, maybe it depends on his mood. I'm sure he didn't read my work, because if he had, he wouldn't have given such a horrible grade. RUN AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!! . HIST2301 But I didn't find it in the reviews. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
Don't waste your time writing; he doesn't read your work, and he only wants us to watch his YouTube videos so he can monetize his hours. He's terrible. His course code is HIST 2301. I'm paying $1000 for this course and he's treating me like a nobody.
This professor is, at the very least, terrible. He ignores all your effort to do a good job, even when you follow all his guidelines and recommendations. It seems strange because I showed my work to other professors before handing it in to make sure it was okay, and I still got a C. In other words, the problem is him.

It seems strange because I showed my work to other professors before handing it in to make sure it was okay, and I still got a C. In other words, the problem is him. Code of the HIST 2301 method
Code of the HIST 2301 method I had to drop the subject to avoid losing more money. He's uncommunicative, you're forced to watch his YouTube videos to generate extra income, he doesn't read what you write. I had heard about this before, but only found out when I started. I'll try another teacher.
I had to drop the subject; the professor only wants you to watch his videos. Run, the videos are terrible, and he won't read your material. Try another one. the subject HIST 2301
HIST 2301, I should find the code for the subject I'm dropping. So here's the code. If you have the chance, run far away from this teacher. I'm already at a disadvantage because I need to finish this subject. But it wasn't worth it, I'm giving up.
He asks you to write a journal entry about his YouTube videos, but he doesn't read what you write. Don't waste your time with him.
I'm devastated by my grade. I spent three weeks immersed in watching his YouTube videos, transcribing them, and doing everything he asked. But he has no teaching methodology, is inaccessible, and is also grumpy. Impossible.
I'm devastated by my grade. I spent three weeks immersed in watching his YouTube videos, transcribing them, and doing everything he asked. But he has no teaching methodology, is inaccessible, and is also grumpy. Impossible. HIST 2301
It should be a simple matter, but he complicates it. Giving up. HIST 2301
HIST 2301 I should be reviewing this subject, but I couldn't find the code. Giving up on the subject, the methodology is confusing, he doesn't seem to read what you write. My father is a historian, I discussed the topics with him, and I received a D. It's not worth insisting.
You have to watch his videos on YouTube, there are many, hours and hours watching, transcribing everything as he asks, but strangely I had the impression that he didn't read them. Giving up.HIST 2301 is the course code, but I couldn't find it. However, it's the same professor, and he uses the same methodology. Watch my videos on YouTube.
Very bad, after two attempts and a D and a C I give up.
I should have written this review as soon as I gave up, but I saw how many students he harmed because he requires us to watch his YouTube videos. If he wants to be a YouTuber, let him be a YouTuber, but forcing students to watch his videos to transcribe what he says is unacceptable.
He doesn't read what you write. You can't access him, he doesn't answer emails. I gave up so I wouldn't lose any more money.
I didn't see the reviews, I didn't imagine it was this bad. Please save your money.
I didn't research it; I only read one review that seemed good. It's terrible; I'm giving up so I don't waste any more time.
He demands that you write 5 pages that he won't read about a topic he spent hours slowly and horribly explaining to you on YouTube. After 2 Cs I'm giving up. I couldn't find the course code but here it is - HIST 2301
If you value your money, don't spend it on this teacher. You can certainly find better teachers than this one.
His lectures are an old videos that is posted in YouTube. I feel like he mumbles a lot in the lecture and didn't really learn anything. He requires a textbook but didn't really used it and couldn't use it for the essays. Major 5 test papers based only in his lecture and can't use the textbook he requires for the course.
He demands a book he doesn't use, he demands we take the test based on YouTube videos where he mumbles the entire time, and many times it's simply impossible to understand what he's saying. The subject matter is simple, and it has been made terribly difficult.
I'm disappointed with ACC Round Rock; the level of the teachers has dropped significantly in the last two years. This teacher is terrible. Don't waste your money and try another college because this one isn't very concerned with quality.
I am shocked by the reviews! I've enjoyed this class and is a break from my intensive courses otherwise. Admittedly, his lectures are long and not particularly engaging - but as long as you take notes, easy A! Only assignments are essays for each module and a final report. Plug in your notes and you're done! Good note taking skills is essential!
If you enjoy video essays, then this class can probably work for you. Each week, you watch 2 videos covering each region's history and societal growth. Grades off 5 essays based on how well you could reiterate his notes. The textbook we didn't use until the end of the semester, so you can find it online and not waste $80.
He gives 3 essay assignments worth exam grades with the choice of 2 topics that are solely based on his video lectures. If you follow along with your notes out and watch the videos its fairly easy to write his essays, but its very time-consuming. Wasn't the type of class I expected at first, don't think I'd take it again.
His video lectures are from 2020 (It's 2025). There's no assignments, just essays. Each essay is 5-6 pages minimum and one of them is 10 pages (based off a book we don't use the whole semester). The only effort he puts in is grading and sending announcements of what we should do that week. I wouldn't take again and advise that you don't either.
Teacher has very low effort in his lectures that are years old. Only required to use about 30 pages of the text book so don't bother buying one. Overall do not recommend unless its the only option, at least half my class dropped by week 10. I honesty question if he even reads the exams. Worst class I've taken in my short college career. HIST2301
I took his course this summer & enjoyed it b/c of the class format as it was easy to follow Exams were fun to do b/c they were always open notes, but I didn't like how the exams were long as they were split into 2 parts I didn't enjoy using textbook for course, but I needed it for the study questions report, so I still purchased textbook for course
