He basically talks abt UCLA, Harward, Stanford, MIT, and all the ivy schools. It felt more like a counseling class. But his discussions are interestin. Take his class if you like doing 3-4 research papers.
he should stick to teaching history. in my english class, he makes us write about the history of america.
he doesnt teach you anything about writing, you dont have to show up, theres 5 papers 1 big reserch paper i bull****ted my way to an A so can you take him
He should stick to teaching the subject he is suppose to teach. His lectures are all over the place. His lectures are not organized. He is very biased and does not open the class up for discussions. Typical left-wing liberal teacher.
his test are easy because theres a study guide for it. he doesnt teach u anythin in class because he goes off topic all the time. just study for the study guide and its an easy A
His lectures are so random he talks about everything but English. He is an easy grade but you have to know how to write well already because he does not teach. There is a lot of reading and a big research paper.
Great class and teacher to take as a summer course. You wonder why you attend class, but he randomly takes roll. He walks out of class every so often and he gives you a lot of time to finish assignments. Boring lectures, but it's worth the summer credit.

he is funny and very easy i recommed evryone to take mr. Zucker for english 1c
he dosent really teach English or anthing having to do with English during his class time but he's very willing to help and the tests are open notes and pretty easy
His lectures are dull, the reading was pointless and I quit after the first two days, but he's pretty easy if you do the work with a little bit of effort. You don't even have to go except for assignments, he doesn't grade attendance. You've got to take the work seriously, though, if you want the A

Interesting subjects.
If you're a history major don't take this professor. The class sounds interesting, but it is very disapointing. If you like sitting in class hearing life stories... indulge yourself.
If you want an easy A take his class. You'll love his lectures too. Very interesting.
A friendly teacher who means well, but for most of the lectures in this class he would spend the hour talking about his life as a little boy, and about going to Ivy League schools. I learned hardly a thing about Cultural and Social Pluralism. Overall, the class was a bore.
The course sounds great, but then the prof spends all of class talking and repeating himself about the grandeurs of Ivy League, or how to make a million bucks, or him meeting Kissinger, or other random things irrelevant to class. The papers are difficult, mostly because you have no idea what he expects. Take with caution (and a earphones).

he honestly doesn't folow his class outline and he always seesms to change his mind about it. He spends all of class just talking about his life and everything else except the class. He brags about himself constantly. And he told us to be on time the first week of class and he was 15min late every class session. he doesn't care about late papers.
An outstanding teacher with a broad based academic background. He has several PhD degrees and knows how to relate multiple fields to each other. He is a brilliant lecturer and outstanding discussion leader. He is kind and compassionate and knows how to motivate excellence in his students. Excellent preparation for UC/CSU transfer students.
Very dedicated to his students; scholarly; open-minded and encourages critical thinking. He is very kind, polite, compassionate, and dedicated to student success. He is very encouraging and sees the best in everyone. He is always there to help and is very inspirational. He is highly respected. He is the best professors I have ever had.
I took this class in Summer 2000. He spent a lot of time talking about off topic subjects-especially about lazy women who collect child support from their hard-working ex's. I love to read, but I hated this class after he scored my papers low-some it didn't even seem that he had read. He let his favorite to go over the time limit for oral report.

He likes to talk, just not a lot on the subject of the paper that you are turning in. He is an interesting fella though
Professor Zucker, although kind, is an awful professor. Those who gave positive comments are deluded. His lectures hardly ever reflect what we are studying in the class; they are almost always tangent, horribly unrelated and tiresome. I say this and I am one of his favorite students this semester.
A superior teacher and lecturer; very helpful, shows interrelationships. He is able to teach so that students really understand the key points well. He is so dedicated to his profession and his students. He is outstanding in every aspect of teaching. He is highly respected by the student body. You really learn in this class. Superior.`
This man is nuts. Nice, but nuts. All he does is talk about his life and only gives about 10 minutes of lecture time to assign and explain papers. Then, the bullsh*t papers I wrote got A's while ones I took time on got B's. I think he didn't read them, and made up paper topics spur of the moment. You can throw away your syllubus, too!
Dr. Zucker is very understanding with his students. it takes me longer to put my ideas on paper and time was not an issue, as long as i had made progress in the class period with the paper. the stories he told in class made the course relavent and it was Not sleep worthy material (it was interesting)
Dr. Zucker teaches you to view life differently and inspires you with his stories to grow as a person. I didnt mind waking up for my early morning class. He always has a smile waiting for you and if you need any extra help he is always there.
Dr. Zucker's class is fun and insightful. His teachings are applicable to our own lives. He has a patient, understanding, and caring personality. He is quite inspirational and his class is very enjoyable.
Dr. Zucker uses a lot of his own life experiences to illustrate to the student that no matter how hard their circumstances, they can still be successful in life. My only concern is that I did not think that he was quite critical enough in the advice he gives when grading papers. not enough red ink for me!
Teaching method is relatively conventional; just doesn't always come out and tell you, "Ok, the story I just told you illustrates the following principle found in your reading selection..." Sometimes he leaves that up to the student to figure out. He talks ALOT about his life but it's all applicable to class material. Not a writing skills class.
At first I was not interested in the class or Dr. Zucker's style of teaching. As the class went on, Dr. Zucker would talk about his life. I began to see that at the end of his story he had taught a valuable lesson. Now that I understand his way of teaching, because he doesn't tell you how he teaches, you walk away fulfilled. I enjoy the class.
stresses the students to analyze critically. more time however is spend listening to zucker talk than writing papers. it is important for the class to develop good writing skills.
Dr. Zucker was an excellent teacher, ans his class I enjoyed and looked foward to going to each day of the week. He has a unique style which myself and other classmates seemed to get comfortable with quickly. Dr. Zucker pays particular atttention to the students and tries his best to help whether the student needs help in life or in the classroom
Dr. Zucker's class was fun overall. I enjoy learning, and his antedotes and obvious enthusiam gave us the freedom to get as much or as little as we wanted from the class. This is a teacher who doesn't just care, but loves what he does. Highly recommended!
Very nice man, but I did not like his teaching methods. Used a lot of his personal life experiences in his lectures. Does not really go over poetry, so it's up to you to interpret. Last paper is a ten page resarch paper of an author's work. Very hard!
he talks about his life a lot... but at the end of it all... you learn a lot more than english. important lessons and all that mushy crap. haha
*EASY A!!! He does'nt grade hard on the essays. It's a really chill class because he talks about life a lot. The hardest part was just the research paper other than that you barely do nothing. This class is for people who just want to pass English, those who want a challenge it's not for you. I'm taking him iin the summer for another EASY A!!!!
Look, Dr. Zucker is a really nice man. I would love to have him as a neighbor or an uncle, but I am sooooo glad to be done with the class. I like english and I couldn't get an A on anything. The lectures rarely have anything to do with assignments or the subject of english. The ten page paper counts as 2 grades (out of 5) so you better give it your
he is the worst english professor i have ever had. i was initially looking forward to this class, but after the first day I realized how horrible he was. DO NOT take this class if you want to learn anything about english, because you won't.
Does his best to take care of students but the lectures wandered.
I found Mr. Zucker to be one of the best proffesors i've ever had. He encouraged the class to think about relevant issues that often go overlooked, and he was very understanding when it came to homework and tests. He challenged me to do well and opened my eyes to a lot of new things. He is very smart and also very kind and personable. I am glad i g
Mr. Zucker is a verry effective teacher. his instructions are clear and easy to follow. the only suggestion i have is that he needs to write the assignments on the black bord.
I love this teacher. His lectures are so interesting. He knows the material. You will not get bored in his class. Everyone should take English with him. He is very understanding :)
Relates readings to real life and tries to keep you interested with different lectures. Reasonable, expects only what you can do. he's really sweet and understanding. reasonable grader..go to class. do the work and you'll do really well.
1 class w/ Zucker and you'll be ready for more challenges throughout college. very passionate. lectures stem from the current topic. very clear and understanding. insightful. smart. nice. let us out an hour early everyday during summer session. simply the best. i will never forget this professor. Thank You. More power and all the blessings. Peace..
Great class! He is a very good teacher. He explains literature with real life's experiences, which makes the class enjoyable.
dr zucker is a very good teacher. he lectures from real life experiences and some of the stories have made me laugh. but the work is not dificult and he understands that students have lives so he gives us extra time to study and etc. I had him for summer session and he was excellent. i would recommend this class if you want to be stress free!!!!
Very nice teacher. His class is entirely lecture. His askes for broad subjects of work, hard to pinpoint
The best teacher ever!!! He is so nice and has a great passion for teaching. His lectures are so intresting and really make you ponder life and literature. He bends over backwards to help his students succed! You will enjoy every miniute of his class!
TEACH IS KOO AS ****... HE CARES A LOT ABOUT STUDENTS AND U CAN COME TO HIM ABOUT ANYTHING AND HE WILL BE HELLA KOO WITH U. ESSAYS CAN BE TURNED IN LATE NO PROBLEM AND EVEN AS LATE AS WHEN THE NEXT ESSAY IS DUE. JUST BE HELLA KOO AND STRAIT UP WITH HIM AND YOU'LL BE AIGHT... HE EVEN DROPS ONE OF THE ESSAY GRADES!!! EASY A****
Great attitude towards students. Student-friendly and willing to help students. Gives interesting lectures. However, lectures given are not in depth. Work done in class is mostly independent.
He tells a lot of stories but its better than just talking about English all day and I think he does it to explain why literature is so important. The essays are very straight forward and he'll work with you to improve them.
Dr. Zucker is a very easy teacher. He gives you more than enough time to finish anything. It includes paper, test, homework ....etc. He relates life stories with the subject at hand, yet they are pretty good and interesting. Istrongly recommend to obtain his class!!!!
I feel Prof. Zucker is an wonderful teacher who is very passionate about teaching and helping the student do as well as possible. His class isn't too hard, do the work assigned and you should do fine. His grading is fare, however he isn't one to just hand out A's unless the work is well written. Overall he is a great teacher.
Professor Zucker is very dedicated to helping his students succeed so he will give you help if you need it. He tries to incorporate life stories into his lectures to relate them to literature, but sometimes they wander. It is a pretty easy class although you'll need a knowledge of English composition beforehand.
He is a nice man. However, his class was boring. I like English. He talks about irrelevant topics and doesn't take enough time to go over the assigned readings. I would not take him again. It was an easy class, yet you don't learn anything in it. Classmates grade your papers not him or other professors. That makes you not learn from your mistakes
This teacher is really cool/he doesnt care about attendence and tardiness, but it does help when you'rethere/he'll pretty much help you on any problem baby step you through what you have to write. you write 4 essays. 3 at home and 1 in class. the three he gives due dates but he doesnt relaly care. in-class you can write at home and retype in class.
this class is pretty easy. The teacher is very lenient about the due date of the essays. The essays are about 3 to 4 pages long and are pretty easy. There are no tests just 3 tak home essays and an in class final essay. doesnt care about tardies. He is very understanding and just says to turn in the papers as soon as you can.
very good teacher, really enjoys teaching and loves his students. doesn't give out many assignments so there arnt many points in this class, do all the assignments. pretty easy grader very cool teacher
The class is relatively easy as long as you pay attention and do the work. The teacher offers lots of help and guidance. He is a good teacher and a nice person and if I had a choice to take him again for another class, I would.
The class is so dumb. Other students grade your papers, not him. He repeats the same story, over and over again. It is very hard to attain an A in his class.
Nice teacher! He really seems to care about his students and will do anything to help you if English isn't your best subject. He also grades pretty easy. Would definately take another class with him!
the class is pretty easy but he doesnt teach. he never stays on topic. he talks about one thing and just keeps straying from the main topic. he likes to talk about philosophy and how to raise children and the divorce rate. not the greatest teacher but the class is easy.
Professor Zucker is one of the nicest men around. His intentions are nothing but good. He only wants to see his students succeed. He does tend to go off subject, but his stories are all worth listening to. TAKE THIS CLASS
took his english 1A class. he really cares about students. mostly talks about his life stories. everything is pretty much essays and reading on your own. he extends due dates alot. overall pretty laid back class.
He MAY seem nice the first few sessions, but after a while his lectures are repetitive and impertinent. Papers are graded by peers and then a 'committee' of 3 teachers. Essentially, half of the class time is lot in useless peer-evaluations. He does not make any comments or critiques of the paper AT ALL. Even asking for help is a fruitless!
Really great teacher with alot of interest in his students. He tends to get distracted and brag during class. Myself and another kid are both prodigies and he only talked to the other one! I had to fight for attention and he never told me how i could get an A on my essays so I was lost getting B's. This teacher is an experience though. Love ya Doc!
i asked for help b/c i'm more of a math science & history person & he told me to drop the class. he doesnt give advice if you ask for it. papers r grades by peers and 3 professors. he rambles on about random stuff. i needed more direction b/c i dont really like english so if ur like me dont take him. oh and he does a lot of inclass essays :(
Dr Zucker reminds me of Benjamin Button (if you've see the movie) He's a small old man, reminds me of my grandpa. He really cares a lot about his students. He's VERY LENIENT about turning in your work late or if you have trouble writing your essays. I took his class during the winter, and it was easy! Easy A or B Just complete the work, late or not
This Professor is the nicest teacher i ever had! He's extremely understanding, always willing to help, and very generous. He's also very interesting; he has a ton of interesting stories that he tells you in class. Take him if you need this class!
NO FEEDBACk on essays. NONE. essays graded by peers and an imaginary panel of 3 teachers. lectures repetitive, unclear, and pointless. do yourself a favor and don't take zucker.
very easy teacher he talks alot but this class is a easy A he doesnt care about attendance and he is very nice. If you want to pass take him
He repeats his stories a lot which have nothing to do with english. Its more of a life class where he brags and preaches. He doesn't teach you to write better and never tells you how to improve your essays. you may leave the class feeling depressed. Too old to be teaching still
Easy teacher. Lectures all day long, in class essays, do the essay, BS it, you still get A or B. Too easy. You don't learn anything.
He so understands! He can be a little irritating at times because for a little old man he can talk up a storm! But in all of his talking he says a lot of things that are helpful and interesting. I took him for English 1A and going to take him again for English 1C in the spring. I highly recommend his class for those how love or hate English!
He was very easy and helpfull professor.Knowledge of life and course makes the class really intersting.
He is so nice and easy! He knows like everything about life and you will learn alot from him. The book he uses is Walden by Thoreau, just read it and go on cliffnotes and u'll basically get an A!
He is SOOOO nice and easy! He knows like everything about life and you will learn alot from him. He uses the book Walden by Thoreau, just read it and go on sparknotes and u'll basically get an A!
Easiest but worst teacher ever. I didn't learn anything. He basically told the same stories over and over again that had nothing to do with English at all. You can basically BS your work and you'll get a decent grade. But if you care about being able to go onto the next class, don't take him. 8 essays 2 in class. 1 10pg research paper.
Thus professor is legit... great class.. the book we read was really inspiring... one of the best professors I've had. If you try you will absolutely not fail... promise!
He's a great little old man, I didn't learn anything in this class. But class was amusing, he told lots of stories and gave lots of inspiring life lessons. Definitely an easy A. Only grades the few essays you do in class and the two in class essays, all of which are easy.
Professor Zucker is quite honestly one of the nicest people I have ever met. He is very understanding about essay deadlines if you find yourself unable to finish on time. He seems like some sort of mix between a Philosophy professor and an English professor. Very interesting stories that help relate Thoreau to our generation.
I don't recommend taking this professor if you would like to learn. If you already know college level english very well it's entertaining but unfortunately for those of us that wanted to improve it wasn't helpful. I asked him why I got a B on essay so I could improve and he just kept saying a B was a good grade. Not helpful.
Dr. Zucker is the easiest and a very good professor with all his students, always willing to help everyone to passed his class. I enjoyed his class very much for all his advises and encourages he guarantees that everyone will pass his class if one does the best he can. "If I did it you can do it."
Professor Zucker class consists of his irrelevant boring lectures that have nothing to do with what english. Literally all he does is tell the same stories over and over again every class. Did not learn a thing, total waste of time. I got a B on everything and BS'd my way through.
I withdrew after 2 months but not once did I learn anything about English. He told stories about his life the entire time, repeating himself FAR too often, 5-6 times by the time I dropped for some stories (though they were interesting the first time). He seems like a good guy, but as a teacher, honestly, AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I became very close with Dr. Zucker. He cares more about teaching about life than he cares about English Essays. most of the time I just listened to his stories and you do pretty little work in class. he only makes us write about 3 or so papers. if you get to know him he is an amazing man, but I understand he was boring for some students.
Great story time!!!
Amazing teacher! He really wants everyone to pass the class.
It was the second day of class and he already repeated a few of the stories he told us on the first day. If you are chill with old people stories this class is for you. (Enable to ask a question you have to jump in when he pauses to think, or else you will not get it answered. And if he choses to answer it, expect a story on the side)
Amazing man, he is the nicest person you will ever meet. He genuinely wants every student to succeed and to find a purpose in their college career. He gets off topic with his stories sometimes but they always end with some great advice. He is a very intelligent, well educated man and is willing to spread his knowledge.
Very kind, and wants to ensure that everyone will succeed in his course and throughout their college career. He can ramble at times on stories that seem unrelated to class content, but he makes them interesting. Instructions for compositions were clear and he is more than happy to help if you need it.
He doesn't teach you much. If you at least try you can pass. Bring your hw from other classes to do it in his class to not waste time and so you don't get bored. Most of the stuff he says is just stories. If you really want to know how to write I recommend taking another class. If you want you want to pass 1A take it.
He is a good professor he likes to give stories and explain the paper. Take notes when he's giving examples of essays makes it easy. 8 papers in total but totally easy. You don't need to read the whole book he tells you what chapters (about 4). He is easy on grading and explains to you what you did wrong. Recommend him.
Hes great and easy. He tells a lot of interesting stories, very nice gentleman. Very easy. Very.
Dr. Zucker is a very caring teacher. He is very passionate and I appreciate the amount of effort he makes in contributing towards his students. He is a very good-hearted gentlemen and will do everything in his power to help you succeed in the class. If you want a challenge, do not take his class but if you want a chill and easy class, take it.
He's a nice guy, but he'll test your faith and how grounded you are in your religion. He gives long, and long lectures. If you're looking for a easy A, take him. But I warn you. If you can, try to avoid him. I'd rather take a harder class and learn something than have an easy A and not learn anything.
It's difficult to follow his lectures because he starts talking about subject related things then somehow ends up talking about something completely random. He also is a big culprit of "humble bragging" he's a nice old man but frankly I really don't care to hear his stories and would rather he spend less time being nostalgic. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Doesn't grade off of the rubric in the syllabus. You will probably get C's on every paper due to a SINGLE error. He says it's the law that the highest grade you can receive for any single error is a C, I've never heard that in my life. I didn't learn a thing, I should've listened to negative reviews. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Bring coffee if you do!
The stories he tells have little correlation with his lectures, but they are fascinating nonetheless. With that said, he is not the professor you should chose if you want to learn something. Grades off of minor errors and will pretty much give you the same grade on all the papers you write. Write an amazing first paper or you may be screwed.
Dr. Zucker is a very nice and caring professor, however his lectures are hard to follow along because he goes on and on and on. He gives essays and test on the expected readings, your best bet is to just read what's in the syllabus and complete your essays. If you do good on essays and test you will pass.
Doctor Zucker is undoubtedly the best English professor I have ever had. His lectures are very entertaining and truly help you understand the material. He really cares about his students and is willing to go any length to see them succeed and ultimately understand the material. I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
Dr. Zucker was a very good teacher. He loves his students and wants to help them succeed. He'll help by reading your papers and telling you how to fix it and make it better. I would recommend him for someone who struggles with English and need extra help.
professor Zucker was a wonderful teacher. H truly cares about his students and wants to do all he can to help you pass the class.
Dr. Zucker is very hard to communicate with. He does not post grades on canvas so I had to ask him in zoom class and he would not tell me what to work on. He would just give me my grade and move on. There is no homework in this class other than papers. If you love writing 5 paragraph papers every week then this is the class for you.
This was the worst class Ive ever taken. The guidelines are extremely unclear and I didnt learn a thing. He doesnt give a clear grading rubric and, when he does give feedback, it is brief and unhelpful. All of our grades were essays but he never taught us how to write one. Extremely frustrating. I hope he does better in the future.
Overall, Dr. Zucker is a well-meaning professor. However, he is incredibly difficult to communicate with as he rarely answers your questions directly and tends to ramble and repeat himself. He didn't actually teach us anything and spent most of his time napping at his desk. Feedback on papers is vague and unhelpful. Avoid this professor if possible
All lectures and only 3 assignments, all of which were papers. Easiest grade ever, he didn't care about due dates, allowed for extreme extensions. One month late on a paper still got full credit. He gave someone an A on their paper despite them not turning one in. Nice guy, clearly clueless with technology and grading
